Morning all.
The Euros of 2020 finally kicks off tonight after a year’s delay. Turkey take on Italy in Rome at 8pm in the opening fixture. From tomorrow though, football fans will have three fixtures available to watch each day. That’s a lot of football, 270 minutes to be precise, not including added time of course. I wonder if there’s a human being out there in the big wide world who intends to watch every second of every match? Not me that’s for sure.
Granit Xhaka, on duty this summer for Switzerland and expected to depart Arsenal before the new season kicks off, is reported to have commented on Arsenal’s season, saying:
Football is a team sport and you’re only as good as your team, Of course, it was a good year for me personally. I’ve always played and performed. But the place at the end of the season is, of course, really bitter and disappointing for us.
I don’t think what he’s supposed to have said is entirely true. Yes he’s always played and he’s performed but the level at which he’s performed has been very inconsistent over the five years he’s been at Arsenal. In some fixtures he’s been absolutely awful, while in others he’s been better. Last season was probably his best in Arsenal colours but that in my opinion, doesn’t mean he’s had a standout season. Great performers will stand out regardless of how a team plays and regardless of where a club ultimately finishes in the League. If he does leave, which seems quite likely, I’ll wish him nothing but good luck. He’ll need it playing for Mourinho as you might need it too at best online slots.
Talking of Roma, I find it quite amusing that the manager they sacked is now heavily linked with a move to the Toots who sacked Mourinho because he wasn’t good enough.
Paper Talk from Sky Sports:
- Arsenal have been given a boost in their pursuit of Marcel Sabitzer, with reports suggesting he could be the next player to leave RB Leipzig. (The Sun)
- Arsenal are reportedly considering making a move for Belgian youngster Albert Sambi Lokonga after Granit Xhaka moved a step closer to the exit. (Daily Express)
- Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke will reject any new offer from Spotify tycoon Daniel Ek. (Daily Mirror)
Nothing new really, just the same stories regurgitated. That’s the summer for you I guess and it’s certainly the back pages and NewsNow. Some of the headlines are misleading to say the least, utter b******t to put it more bluntly. Instead of wasting time reading the stories, why not spend time at Australia online casino.
The transfer window has officially been open for one day and already Arsenal are being criticised left right and centre for not getting a deal over the line. Yet none of us truly know who Arsenal want to sign, nor do we know the clubs budget or rules as far as contract offers/wages offered are. Arsenal fans and ‘patience’ do not go together.
If you read around the Internet, there are many differing views on who the club should or shouldn’t sign but coming up player names is the easy part, but there’s a lot more to a player than just what’s seen during a match. His personality, baggage, attitude towards training and his fellow teammates. His family, where he wants to live and how much he expects to earn. So many things have to be considered before a deal goes through. Perhaps we missed out on Buendia because of something as simple as Arsenal not being prepared to commit to a five year contract which is the deal he’s reported to have agreed with Villa. As said, we don’t know.
There’ll be a plan in place at Arsenal for this summer, we just have to wait and be patient to find out what it is.
See you in the comments.
20 for Xhaka at least.
Morning All
If an offer has been made for Xhaka and it is around what We see as I resemble offer let’s make it quick sale just in case he gets injured playing for his country
I bet that all Man City and Chelsea players are in the ear of Bakayo Saka at the England camp.
You know:
“Come on Bakayo, come play with us at Chelsea/City”,
“You’ll never win the league at Arsenal”…
Think about it, if Saka has a great Euro 20 and then a big offer comes in from City or Chelsea, say £80m – would Arsenal sell?
What if it was £100m, would Stan say no?
Kev, he’d sell.
Here ya go Rick…

·Arsenal U23s pre-season schedule (probably one or two games to be added):
July 20th – Welling United (a) (7.30pm)
July 24th – Boreham Wood (3pm)
July 30th – Hendon (a) (7.30pm)
The manager who was sacked by Roma….Fonseca….was the only manager in history of Italian football who had his team disqualified from the Coppa Italia…for making 6 subs when only 5 were allowed. 😂😂😂😂😂 I saw the game and after it finished Fonseca said that honestly he didn’t know about. Earlier in the season his team, Roma, were handed a 3-0 defeat against Hellas Verona in Serie A for fielding an ineligible player.
I am simply waiting for next season to begin….if for nothing to enjoy myself watching how it will be for the toots with him as manager. my mouth is simply salivating at the mere thought. 😂😂😂😂😂
Good afternoon Rico and all. Thanks for the post.
Of course he would Scott and let’s be honest, Arsenal have previous in this regard.
Liam Brady, Frank Stapleton, Robin Van Persie, in fact it’s in our DNA when our Boardroom/Ownership is as poor as it presently is…
£150m and I reckon the club might consider it.
That’s what we will be offered for him and ESR and knowing Stan he will probably do it and throw in a handful of Walmart vouchers to boot.
Afternoon Devil, I’m looking forward to next season. Not sure how long my interest will remain though if Arsenal carry on playing the way they did last season.
Arsenal have become a very boring club unfortunately.
I wonder how many other fans think the same about their club Adam?
I think football in general has become very boring.
I agree Rico. Apart from a few clubs that is. Right now Arsenal are at a crossroads and supporting them isn’t much fun.
YouTube has become something of a curse for our club. Some real leeches on there.
It hasn’t been for a while Adam and it doesn’t improve much with each passing season. Some might say it doesn’t improve at all.
The sugar daddy clubs have really unbalanced things I think. Some of the same people who complained that the proposed EL was inherently unfair while simultaneously taking Sky’s money, seem to find no problem with today’s status quo.
Oh well.
The interest in football was always the rivallry between the fans , this has subsided recently , long before the pandemic as television and foreign rights took over importance to the clubs.
Where it used to be people supporting their local team , clubs now make far more money selling merchandise worldwide.
And the pattern of the game has changed too . Virtually every team tries to play the same way and consequently the ones with the better players come out on top . It is rare to see a Leicester who following their league win joined the billionaire club and like all others are more about the money than the game .
Wimbledon and Bob Stokoe running over the Wembley turf is consigned to history .
Until someone steps away from trying to emulate the Barcelona passing system of Xavi and Iniesta it will become more and more stereotyped.
Only when the money dries up will it go back to being a game with many different styles and suddenly the interest will return.
Potter. Well said and sadly quite true.
In the interest of the game, I hope the money does dry up but sadly, I only see it getting worse.
Totally agree re the playing style. That’s probably why I enjoy watching Leeds plays, they are so different and it’s refreshing.
You’re probably right Rico.
Stuart Broad has now overtaken Courtney Walsh to become the 6th highest all time wicket taker which is amazing, heavens knows what we’re gonna do when he and Jimmy retire?
The guy who got banned for making a wrong comment back in 1568 looks good Kev but replacing Broad and Anderson is impossible. It’s a bit like trying to replace Bergkamp and Wrighty.
Agreed Kev. Shame his batter has gone so downhill since being hit that time. He used to time it really well.
Evening House.
#Batting!!
1st half of Italy vs Turkey nearly over…..and Italy were denied three penalties (all handballs) two of which were clear. Neither VAR nor the referee ‘saw’ the penalties.
Simple way to get the fans “back” and stop the downward slide in football is demand at least 6 local juniors be on the pitch at any one time in first team football.
Scott or play exciting football will get the fans back
Now that’s a good idea Geoff…
Morning all.
What a lovely sunny morning it is too.
Geoff, 4 years ago we played exciting football but couldn’t defend so lost games and fans whinged.
Fans blamed Arsene, and said let’s get back to the old “1-0 to the Arsenal”, including plenty on here.
Now we’d prefer exciting football?
Ok.
Of course, as I always say, plenty of fans will never be happy, that’s a simple fact and Arsenal fans are as fickle as they come!
Oh, and where are the relentless quotes of Arsene saying “4th position is like winning a trophy”?
Mmmmm.
Keep them coming lol

New post up now
1-0 doesn’t have to be boring, 3-0 doesn’t always mean a game has been exciting.
Being able to defend and attack in equal measures surely has to be the aim? Of course there will be certain games where a different approach is required like away at City, Chelsea, Liverpool etc but imo, they should be the exception and not the rule.
Exciting football four years ago Scott, that’s funny. Lol
Rico, it wasn’t exciting because we were winning games, right lol
Hilarious.
Top 4 happened regularly, but how about looking back at the theme on here and most were complaining.
It’s crazy that some keep defending Stan and blaming everyone else but hey, that’s Arsenal fans 😉
