Passions run high. Have to love ‘Arry….

Have to love ‘Arry. For all his connections with that lot down the road and other naughty stuff which hit the headlines over Tax, to get through three weeks of jungle life at 72 years old is incredible really. I watched it all and he came across as a really kind, warm and funny guy. There was only going to be one winner imo from the day his jungle life began.

A funny moment for me was when he talked money with another camp mate who is a pop star, yet not really earning a huge income. Huge compared to many of us, but nothing compared to football. ‘Arry was surprised and said football is crazy as many out there are earning £80,000 a week and they can’t even play. Initially of course I believed he was referring to a few of his players at Tottenham when he was manager but of course, he was talking in general.

He’s right though, slightly exaggerated I’d say but there are a vast amount of players who simply earn far too much money when compared to what they bring to the team. Arsenal certainly have their own share but we’ve discussed that before. I think that’s coming to an end now at Arsenal. No more over the top contracts just to keep a player and I truly believe that those on extortionate salaries but not giving much to the team, will be sold.

Anyway, as Arry celebrated one of the few things he’s won in his life, the players at Arsenal are enjoying their own celebrations too. Not over the top ones, but when someone scores, they’re together. Even the guys in the dugout join in, coaches and all.

There’s been plenty of special Arsenal celebrations over the years too, certainly far too many to write so I’ll leave the recollection of those for the comments section.

Players, coaches, fans, hundreds I’m sure. I don’t recall George Graham ever running down the touch line in a way other managers over the years have, nor Arsene Wenger. Wenger was more animated during his first five years but then he good reason to be but even then, he was quite controlled, for the want of a better word. As the standard of football and his career headed south, we barely saw more than a strong clap of the hands standing a few paces away from his seat when we scored, similar if we won with an added pump of his arms. In fact he showed more emotion during his battles with the fourth official. Understandable I guess.

Unai Emery is totally opposite to Arsene Wenger. He seldom sits down during a game, he’s barking orders from his technical area and when we score, he goes bonkers. Well, he did on Saturday after Lucas Torreira grabbed the only goal of the game to secure us maximum points. He, a few other coaches and Guendouzi all celebrated together. On the pitch, the joy on the face of our Uruguayan after his goal was a great sight as he ran over to the fans to share the moment. The rest of the team were pretty happy too. I’ve missed seeing that, haven’t you?

Arsene Wenger often told us how together his players were as a team/squad and how he believed in them but it didn’t always look that way on a match day. But now it does. It’s early days of course but our players really do look like they want to play for the club, the manager and the fans.

There’s two in my mind who seem to be the odd ones out, but they’re the ones who earn far more money than their football deserves. In fact I would say they don’t even deserve the kind of money ‘Arry was talking about.

Have a good Monday guys, see you in the comments..

Harry Rednapp, King of the Jungle, sounds just about right…. 😉

    Afternoon Gooners
    Afternoon Rico

I’m looking forward to Thursday, gonna see some of our future ‘stars’ in action.

Lichtsteiner would normally play in this type of game but as he’ll probably be a starter in a back three at St Mary’s we might see Jenkinson at right back?
Sokratis suspended at Southampton could play in this game alongside Koscielny and Medley perhaps?

  2. rico says:

I guess Kos has to play at some stage so why not start him on Thursday. Or will Unai be brave and go with Medley and Jenkinson central..

  3. allezkev says:

Maybe Rico, but I wouldn’t want to underestimate Qarabag too much or we might end up losing our unbeaten record against a pub team.

A bit of experience down the middle for me, stick all the youngsters up front.

Koscielny really needs at least an hour on Thursday otherwise Rico how can he be considered for Southampton?
And we’re gonna need a match sharp Koscielny at Southampton, because Monreal and Lichtsteiner are the only other options – after them we’re into the realms of Jenkinson or Pleguezuelo or Medley or Elneny at the back…

Good afternoon all, I never watch anything with the word personality in the title, but each to his own I suppose.

If Old ‘Arry wants to make a spectacle of himself in exchange for some readies, that’s his choice. I wonder if Theresa May will sign up for the next series, she seems willing to put her name to quite bit of crap lately.

Perhaps we could have a Christmas Special, “I’m a Brexiteer get me out of here”.

Sorry can’t comment . Along with all the other pre packaged celebrity TV shows , I would rather read a book than watch any of them. In consequence I have not watched it since it’s inception , nor Strictly , the voice or any other Simon Cowell money maker.
In fairness if it hasn’t got a ball in it I don’t really have an interest

Good point Kev re our run and Koscielny and I hadn’t given much thought to either. I just thought about picking up further injuries and suffering from it over the busy festive period which includes a trip to Anfield.
