Ozil going nowhere for the foreseeable? Arsene Wenger staying on too?

Morning all.

Poor Arsene Wenger, whatever he does in a transfer window, he’s always criticised isn’t he? Lambasted by all last summer for signing only Petr Cech, and rightly so imo, but this summer so far, he’s signed Xhaka, Holding, Mustafi, Perez and the man from Japan. The latter was always gong out on loan from the off as Wenger said he was one for the future, as is Kelechi Nwakali.

Ok, Mustafi and Perez were needed long before now but at least they should be in and ready to play after the international break.

Yet still the media feel it’s ok to have a pop at the Frenchman with comments like this:

Arsene Wenger looks set to finally bring in reinforcements – but is Lucas Perez a panic buy? And have they overpaid for Shkodran Mustafi?

Lyon played games with Arsenal over Lacazette apparently, games which our club refused to get involved in so off they went to Spain and landed a much needed striker. He may not be everyone’s first choice but until he plays, none of us know just how he’ll fit in at Arsenal and the English game. But he looks quick, he’s scored some classy goals and personally, I can’t wait to see him in red and white.

“Someone who scores 17 goals in La Liga should be considered a top signing, especially when you consider Perez did that at Deportivo,” said Guillem Balague.

As for Mustafi, in comparison to years gone by and the cost of central defenders, maybe his price does appear steep but this is 2016, the money in the game is hideous, the price of footballers is ridiculous but it is what it is and that’s how much Mustafi was rated by his previous club. German international players don’t come cheap.

Talking to Sky Sports in Germany, Mustafi had this to say:

I did not see Per for a long time because he quit international football but I talked to Mesut. He told me everything I wanted to know. Everything was positive, so I was convinced very fast. It did not take much.

I have always loved Arsenal, I like how they play here, it is not typical English.

The game here is more like in Spain and with the German national team, keeping the ball on the grass, so it was easy to convince me.

The good news there is Mesut Oil must be more than happy at Arsenal, otherwise why would he encourage his international team-mate to make the move? The worrying sign though is surely all of these players would want to know who their manager will be next season and perhaps it’s an indication that Arsene Wenger is staying put for a while yet.

There could be one more coming in before Wednesday too as reports this morning suggest Arsenal are closing in on a move for Paraguay international midfielder Miguel Almiron. Another midfielder seems odd though as we have plenty of those.

Theo Walcott is back in the England squad thanks to Big Sam and I’m not overly surprised. As much as he get’s justifiably criticised, he looks like he’s up for this season and he’s working hard on the pitch for a change and long may that remain. No Wilshere, Gibbs or Oxlade-Chamberlain though. No surprise.

The opening two matches were awful but at Watford we looked so much better. Xhaka looks like he’s going to bring a lot to the side, Ozil and Alexis are smiling, Holding looks like a great defender in the making and with the two new boys arriving anytime soon, suddenly the grass looks a lot greener.

All we fans need now is for Arsene Wenger to do great things with the players he has, but that could be the tricky part……..

Good post rico, morning everyone. Got to give any new guys a bit of time to settle, here’s hoping we have 50m worth of talent. Bailey was about same price, I don’t think we’ve overpaid. Made me chuckle, a CB saying ‘like how it’s played here, ball on the grass’. Someone better tell him about away to Stoke!

  2. kelsey says:

Very positive start to the day,Rico.

I am still not convinced that AW was going to buy Mustafi as he had already bought Holding though Mertesackers’s long term injury may have changed his mind.

I remember Nasri acting in the same way as Ozil with a player we bought saying we were the best club in the world and the next year money got the better of Nasri.Sorry can’t remember who it was but someone will.

  3. scottfromoz says:

If Ozil is taking the club up knowing Wenger is extending, then fans should be aware the guys happy, and Wenger is part of the reason.
I wonder if all the opinions on he and Sanchez possibly leaving have been totally wrong, and part of the reason they stay is down the manager?
If that’s the case, fans must decide if they want the package deal, or none of the above.
    If, if, if…..

  4. Hell Raising Devil says:

    Good Post Rico.

from the other post…….Andrew….you are right about the crosses. Last game we played with a small striker (Alexis) and we produced two crosses which translated into goals. We play Ollie and all passes are played on the floor. Mind boggling isn’t it.

On another note…..we buy Perez from a club which needs the money. Now shouldn’t AW make a deal with them to loan them a player or two for the whole season as part of the deal? For example if Bielik is not going to be played or Chambers is in need of playing time why shouldn’t he be loaned to them.

Fringe players who will not be getting playing time should be loaned imo

Juventus frequently do it…..they bought a player from Parma and loaned them two players for two seasons. PArma did not pay any fee and they had to pay their wages.

  5. Adam says:

Morning Rico and all. The games I have watched live or on TV so far this season have shared one thing – a deathly hush from the crowd. I have never heard Old Toilet so quiet and our home game against Liverpool was so subdued that you could hear mobile phones around the ground announcing the arrival of yet another text.
And to think it used to be the people’s game.

  6. andrewh1313 says:

I know rico, but his main job is to repel attacks and corners using that head of his! That’s how football is mostly still played in England. I think Drogba was one of the most successful strikers ever in the Premier, and we have never had CBs who could cope. Caroll terrorised us last year, Ibrahimovic will put himself about, its not going to be played on the floor! (except by us, I realise that, tippy tappy!!). But as we were discussing on yesterdays post, two great crosses yesterday.

  7. rico says:

Some reports suggest AW has been working on the Mustafi deal for a long time though Kelsey, not sure if it’s true but in any case, I’m just glad the deal has been done. Now we have to hope he adjusts to the English game quickly and he proves to be great signing…

  8. Marshall says:

Morning all. Last week Wenger was cheap now he’s told he overpaid? These cheap journos. Wenger is really an easy target huh.

Mustafi and Kos will ease the burden and also mentor young Holding. Chambers needed loan over a season ago, hope he goes to an Italian club, he’ll toughen up there and come back a better defender. probably with certainty to where his actual position is.

  9. rico says:

Andrew, apparently he has a good spring in his legs. lol

Have to check him out if he plays for Germany over the next couple of weeks, as to be honest, I haven’t seen him play.

    Kelsey, isn’t he just.

  10. scottfromoz says:

The signings have had an impact even on here, which is great, but does tell the story that we we’re aching for some fresh blood and strengthening of the squad.
Seems to have made fans everywhere happy, or at least content.
Let’s now hope the players get a lift, as well.
Adam, at Stamford Bridge on that fateful day, I was amazed at how quiet the home fans were.
Seems it’s every large club is now more worried about the tourists than the locals.
Even as a tourist, I thinks it’s shameful, but again, it isn’t just Arsenal, guys…..and it’s been headed that way for a while, I’d suggest.

  11. andrewh1313 says:

‘Seems to have made fans everywhere happy, or at least content. Let’s now hope the players get a lift, as well.’ (wish we had a Quote tool on this forum!)

Spot on, I would say content ‘personally’, because of the agony waiting till after three matches and being 5 points behind. But of course, we don’t know what went on behind the scenes.

More important that what us fans feel, is what the players felt. When Ozil and Sanchez joined, their tweets of delight said it all. So it follows that before the Liverpool game, they must have felt slightly dismayed seeing Pogba and the rest joining others, whatever they are allowed to say!

  12. allezkev says:

    Morning All
    Morning Rico

I’ll be happy when the window bloody closes, it’s been a pain in derrière this summer.
I mean you expect some hysteria in the press and on line, but some of the absolute transfer tosh we’ve had this summer has been hard to take…

I mean Rico, take that Paraguay midfielder rumour for example…
    He’s 22, so this ain’t no teenage wonder boy…
He has zero chance of a work permit and we’ve got two of those this summer already in Asano and the Nigerian kid.
He’s an attacking midfielder and we’re ‘really short’ in midfield aren’t we… ?
Then we’ve got that agent tosser of the Croatian midfielder, Brosovic or something – and remember how short we are in midfield ? – and he’s rambling on about he’s ‘heard’, that’s right he’s heard, he’s a fcuking agent ffs, that Chelsea are in for his player, doesn’t he know?
Anyway he chucks in Arsenal’s name to jazz things up, dickhead..!

Then you go to all those click-bait sites that draw us in, and usually there’s some geezer, living in India, just re-cycling old news and lies from another shit website…

    Give me a break…

  13. rico says:

Not just the fans Scott, players at the club will be lifted too, performances could very improve as the competition for places grows.

  14. Marshall says:

Yeah Rico, why wasn’t stones deemed overpriced? They should know only us fans are allowed to (mis)judge Wenger.

Am content he got the personnel required to strengthen us. Heading in to the season cautiously optimistic he’ll get the tactics spot on and players will play for the shirt. Then all will be well.

  15. scottfromoz says:

Stones v Holding right now, guys?
Honest appraisals….is one 20 odd times better than the other?
    Twice as good, even?
    Kev/Rico, yeah, I can’t disagree lol

  16. scottfromoz says:

    Lol Rico….
I’ve not seen a lot of either, but from what I have seen, I’d say there’s a struck match between them.
Time may show Stones is a super player, but at 2 million, our kid is a snip.
He could well establish himself as a long term Arsenal player.

  17. Hell Raising Devil says:

Scott….Holding has already established himself as a long term player for us. Granted….he will not play every game for us and he will need to be rested….but in three games has made giant strides. It might be possible that after the break Kos might be rested and Mustafi plays with Holding.

Imo the pecking order is……KOS/Mustafi…Holding…GAbi…..Per. Chambers will be loaned. I think that for now the first team pairing are Kos and Mustafi. But the next in line will be Holding.

What about him being a future captain material.

  18. rico says:

Wonder what’ll happen when Mustafi arrives though Scott, I’d imagine Holding might sit out a few games. Saying that, if Kos does have a bad back, maybe he’ll get some rest time…

    Who knows eh…

  19. scottfromoz says:

Devil, I’d say Xhaka is a possibility, as well.
Rico, Holding will learn his trade from Kozzer, Merts and Mustafi…..
He is 7-8 years from his peak, I reckon, though pretty handy right now 🙂

  20. Marshall says:

Why are we letting Kos join French team anyway. He could have used those two weeks to get better. He’s not getting any younger.

  21. potter says:

Taking the fact that Kos sat out the first matches it is possible that Wenger realises that he will have to nurse him through the season. International duties will not help so I reckon we will see quite a bit of Holding in the first team. It didn’t hurt when we had Adams , Bould and Keown vying for places and it won’t do so now.

  22. Hell Raising Devil says:

Even if Holding sits the first few games….he will still have Forest to look forward to….alongside one of Mustafi or Kos. I hope its Mustafi because Kos needs to be nursed and rested.

If I was in AW’s place I would even go further and play him against the lower teams while resting Kos or Mustafi. Even in the CL I would play him in the Ludogoretz games. That means another two games for him. I expect Holding to feature in around 20-25 games this season. Which is a good number considering his age and from where he came. Anything else is a bonus.

  23. scottfromoz says:

Guys, I think we are finally in a position where we can leave Koz out for a rest every now and again.
It’s been suicidal to do that, the last few years.
Signing Holding and Mustafi may extend the guys career.

  24. Hell Raising Devil says:

I am worried at right back though. because if Debuchy leaves and Chambers goes on loan we are

    GK…Cech/Ospina
    RB….Bellerin (Jenks/Chambers)
    LB…NAcho, Gibbs
    CB1…Kos, Holding
    CB2..Mustafi , Gabi
    DM 1….Xhaka, Coquelin
    DM 2…Cazorla, Elneny
    AM….Ozil, Aaron
    RW…Theo, OX
    LW….Alexis, Iwobi
    CF….Ollie, Perez

    extra midfielder….Jack, Gnabry, JRA

Extra Forward…Akpom (he will go on loan again)

Don’t tell me Holding can play there. Its s simple NO. Play him only as a CB. End of.

Obviously AW can play any player he wants in every position. But I hope that Theo’s stats and numbers will not make him consider Theo’s position and try him as a right back. lol

  25. Wavy says:

Will the old chap put Mustafi and or Perez straight into the Arsenal team against Southampton? I very much doubt it. He needs at least three weeks indoctrinating them into the ‘Arsenal’ way! So all they have learned elsewhere he will coach out of them! Both their good and bad habits!
Can’t see them playing for a few weeks yet. Kos and Holding should keep their places and then he will introduce Mustavacrap via the old subs bench and Perez the same.
I do hope our new forward is a step up from Campbell otherwise it’s money down the drain!

    Morning all.

  26. scottfromoz says:

Adam, I think he will make it, though again, I haven’t seen that much of him, but he seems good value at this point, especially when compared to Stones, at the moment at least.

  27. andrewh1313 says:

I would only let Chambers OR Debuchy go, seems silly for 2 RBs to leave with Jenks injured. But we know what will happen if we do. And AW will say we have been unlucky again with injuries. Don’t tempt fate! Please.

Oh hold on, Ozils’s mate can deputise at full back. Where’s Flamini!

  28. potter says:

Stones I believe to be over hyped and definitely over priced , good bit of marketing there by Everton . Although Man City are a push over for high prices. Everyone says that Arsenal’s fans are not satisfied unless they see big money signings but it’s the owners at City that like their ego’s massaged.

  29. andrewh1313 says:

Hyperthetically, if we had 25 prospects as good as Holding looks now, I would expect at least 2 or 3 of them to come through as good as Stones appears now. Stones seems prone to odd mistake, not finished article by a long way, hope he doesn’t become another Hart!

  30. kelsey says:

I watched the City v W H game and was amazed how many empty seats there were.I wonder if fans are gradually getting priced out more and more to watch games. This was a must fixture for the Home supporters but apparently not.

  31. kelsey says:

Potter, you mentioned something the other day so I assumed the obvious.I am in the same boat and following Arsenal is not always good for the ticker 😉

Chaambers is off on loan and no one wants to buy Debuchy even at 3 million.

Funny how the mood can change. We beat the mighty Watford and remember cech saved us from an embarressment, we sign two players who hardly anyonehas seen play and everyone is happy.

    |Holdng has a big future as long as AW doesn’t start playing him in three different positions.

Not much about our new Petit getting rave revues aeady, but at the end of the day the defence and mifeld neeed to play much more as a tight understanding unit, otherwise we will keep getting ripped apart.

  32. Joaquim Moreira says:

Nothing yet in the oficial site.
Southampton new player (Boufal) is very good
Slimani and Adrien in Leicester? If so, they become a strong team.
Nobody is interesting in Debuchy but we must solve right back problem or be waiting until Janaury. Anyway, I think Bellerin is not ina good shape.

  33. Wavy says:

What makes you say Hector is notin a good place?
Is it that he is unfit, or fat, or dreaming with Walcott or has he had his head turned by transfer talk at and from DNA Barca?

  34. Obi says:

Andrew @ 12:47 you are so on point. I have watched Stone a lot and I am always flabbergasted by his lack of concentration. I believe that will always hurt him because you cannot teach people how to think, either they can or cannot. That’s the reason I would rate Holding over him. When AW got Holding for 2m I was shocked because I saw him play in the championship, and I rateed him over Reece Oxford and West Ham was asking as much as 17m for him. If AW doesn’t yoyo the kid like he did with chambers he would be awesome in the future.

  35. Obi says:

Wavy at 12:18, I loved Campbell the dude works hard, but Perez and Campbell are two totally different players. Perez doesn’t miss chances if he’s played as CF, with Ozil and Xhaka vision behind him, Giroud may not get his starting job back.

  36. Marshall says:

Off to Boro, for Chambers. I hope he stops Chavs and Manures from scoring. He could do us lots of favors still. I hope he gets the game time he so much needs.

  37. allezkev says:

If Lacazette has a knee injury, maybe Wenger should nip in with a crafty £10m bid before the deadline?

  38. kelsey says:

Since 2009, Wilshere has injured his ankles at least 10 times. This is not an exaggeration but an actual statistic. The scale of his ankle injuries alone have kept him out for either a mere two weeks or a tear-jerking 14 months. For that reason alone IMO his career is at crossroads and his private life is of major concern to AW.I wonder if his career will now take a downward turn.

  39. Le Coq Monster says:

    Afternoon all !

Just come back from Plymouth where I bought my 3 year old Grandson an Arsenal kit !……….I looked at the home kit, but because he`s really blonde and we could only find a pair of bright yellow Adidas football boots in a childs size 7, I got him the 3rd away kit they used at Watford with the bright yellow stripe and socks !……………got him a yellow ball as well !………..£60 squid well spent, cant wait for him to come around on Wednesday for a kick about !…………he`s Dad wont be too happy as he`s Argyle through and through !………could turn into a family squabble, but when he`s dumped around my house whilst they work ………………………..it`s my house my rules !. hahaha

  40. Le Coq Monster says:

    Hiya Rico 🙂
I`ll probably waste some more on the home kit as I like that one, which will mean I`ll have to buy some red boots to match and just to upset his dad………………dye his hair red !……………………………………my little Ljungberg !

  41. Marshall says:

21? I can barely remember those thrilling 90 min winners. Welbeck’s though against Leicester was the most exhilarating.

  42. potter says:

Kelsey be watchful of the cocktail of drugs they put you on if you have had a heart attack. Clopidogrel and Aspirin do the same thing , they will probably give you a beta blocker to slow the heart rate and another drug to lower your blood pressure . I have been having dizzy spells which I thought was low sugar for a couple of years but it turns out that the combination of drugs is dropping my blood pressure too low. I don’t know how old you are but check with your doctor if they run a happy heart system , it caught my blood pressure problem as low pressure is just as dangerous as a high one. Anyhow good luck with it , once your in the system they seem to check for everything. They always said the third attack was the fatal one , my quack tries to make sure you don’t get a second.
As you said Arsenal don’t help , I went ballistic when Eboue did that stupid foul against Liverpool in the 8th minute of injury time and they equalised. I went home and had my heart attack a few hours later. I blame Eboue.

  43. rico says:

Welbeck’s was great wasn’t it, not only for the time in the match but the fact he hadn’t played for months….

    His father is called Stan….

  44. Le Coq Monster says:

I`m so pissed of by such a rumour that I`m going to self harm myself by doing my 1000 ab workout !……………….

  45. kelsey says:

    Potter

I am sure the others aren’t interested in our heart attacks but briefly I had mine at the doctors surgery, had two stents and like you my BP went to 80/50 far too low but they kicked out the beta blockers and now that’s normal. It’s my brain that’s screwed up,ask Cockie 🙂

That was 19 months ago and I am still in my sixties.

In an emegency the NHS is fantastic in all other respects they are shite. Do you live in Norfolk by any chance.

So Chambers is off to Middlesborough on loan, another not to glamorous part of our country.Don’t think he will ever come back but will make a living at football at a lower level.

Chaddliegh hs gone to wba and I too wouldn’t be pleased if Spurs got Isco.

  46. frednerk says:

It’s widely regarded Maureen and Pepy
are the two top managers around..
Both were willing to pay top dollar for
    a young defender ..Stones…
Would he be a better player if say
    he only cost 3 million?

  47. Le Coq Monster says:

Hahaha Kelsey……………that indeed was a great piece of well deserved luck being in a Doctors surgery when having a heart attack !………..I can imagine you falling off a mountain only to land on a gigantic massive whoopee cushion !. 😆

  48. Le Coq Monster says:

Right !………I`ve taught my six pack a lesson not too piss me off with such rumours !…………….if anyone else wants to piss me off with other rumours, I`m about ready to do 300 squats !…………piss me off and the arse and thighs are going to get it !. hahaha

  49. Hell Raising Devil says:

    Good evening Lovelies and Hunkies.

Kev…..the player you mentioned is a left winger. Miguel Almiron can play centrally like Ozil but is mainly a left winger.

He is 22 years and if reports that he costs just £11 million are right then its worth the risk imo.

And since he is an international having played himself all the way up from Under19 to the full national team, maybe, just maybe, he will not need a work permit wait or go out on loan.

  50. allezkev says:

Kelsey, she looks younger with every passing year…

Yeah BT, I’ve just seen the reports, seems that Jack want to go to get regular football and Wenger is in agreement.
    Doesn’t mean that he’s leaving permanently though…

Wenger won’t let him join a top-four rival, so I guess we’re looking at a mid table EPL team that plays football, like Bournmouth or Southampton or Swansea.
Although there’s a rumour that Juventus are interested…

  51. allezkev says:

Yeah Coach, you might be right about the Paraguay kid, but haven’t we had a whole bunch of South American wonder boys who go out on loan and eventually leave, Campbell has been the nearest to earning a regular place in the squad, but has ended up out on loan again…

I’m all for bringing in quality South Americans like Gilberto, Silvinho, Edu, Alexis etc, but I see no point in signing another Vela, Vivas or Wellington.

And anyway, Iwobi, Reine-Adelaide and Gnabry need a chance first, imo…

If Wilshere leaves on loan, I wonder if that means that Wenger has another signing lined up..?

  52. kelsey says:

    Morning

    Re Jack

Well I sort of thought this would happen as I impled yesterday. Will he come back for a second time ?Not sure what’s behind this as he has every chance of injuring those ankles wherever he plays.I mentioned his private life yesterday and AW is livid, went to see Jack’s parents who told AW to eff off, they are vile people..I think that’s the real reason.AW is a disiplarian He did it with Bedtner and now Szsney football, ability or lack of it is only part of the problem.

  53. Hell Raising Devil says:

    Good Morning Lovelies and Hunkies

Kelsey…..with Jack Wheelchair’s problems and all that there is one thing to consider……he is homegrown. Now let’s say he goes on loan (which I believe is the best thing for all concerned…and I do consider him a liability)……he has to be replaced with a homegrown player. Because we must have the quota. Chambers has gone on loan so that is another off the list….although Chambers goes with the youth as still under 21.

The fact is that a homegrown player is leaving….and he must be replaced.

Personally I would sell him to the highest bidder. He would easily fetch 25 to 30 million I am sure. pus there will be more than two or three clubs who want him.

  54. kelsey says:

I agree HRD but why leave it 24 hours before the deadline unless AW has someone else coming in.Can’t be Isco because he’s not homegown.Ramsey is always likely to get injured so our midfield is not so plentiful.

I just read we payed 16 million for Chambers over two years ago and in my mind even allow for the recent escalations of prices that is a lot.

I don’t really understand the meaning of homegrown as a foreign player can come to us a teenager or youngster and they are homegrown. Is that right ?

  55. Hell Raising Devil says:

Homegrown is any player who prior to his 19th birthday (I stand to be corrected on the age) has been affiliated to a club for 3 years. So in essence, if we sell Jack and buy back, for example Cesc, the latter will be classified as homegrown having been at Arsenal since the age of 16 till 19. Even though he is Spanish.

Bellerin is Spanish. But since he was bought as a 16 year old he is classified as homegrown. Gnabry is another. but both those are under 21 listed.

So JW going will leave a space for a homegrown player.

  56. Hell Raising Devil says:

I know that many here like JW and I don’t blame them. He is English, he is a product of our club and has a high level of skill.

    However, I don’t.

Imo, Jack although technically of the highest level, does not know the meaning of the phrase…self discipline. Which is needed in today’s sports and today’s world. He is tactically inept and does not alter his style to suit his physical needs. Holds on to the ball too much and does not release it quickly enough.

Once one of my teams were playing against Aston Villa under 17 academy. And I told my players not to hold on to the ball for more than three touches especially the midfielders as they will be tackled in a typical British way. Barely three minutes had passed when one of my players tried to dribble through the midfield. The result??? he soon found himself lying on his back with his ankle ligaments pulled. he could barely walk. So I had to make a substitution by the 4th minute. Jack holds on to the ball and that invites tackles…..and tackles make his glass ankles look what they are made of….glass.

That attitude is detrimental to the team. And to the club. Why?? simply because he refuses to change his style and adapt as the situation requires. As much as he is liked, as much as he is English….hands on heart…how many of you will prefer him over Ozil, Cazorla and Xhaka???

And he keeps on getting injured. That alone is enough to make me consider selling him.

And I have not touched his private life.

  57. potter says:

You can’t hold on to players on a sentimental basis alone. Maybe Wenger learned his Diaby lesson and won’t do it again. I didn’t know about his parents but it does smack of the too much too soon image of English youth. There’s is little point in Jack going to another English club because the style won’t change , his best bet is La Liga or Serie A where the fouls tend to be more technical than over the ball ” get in their faces ” type tackling. Perhaps he will thrive elsewhere , perhaps a 1000miles from his parents might help but I believe the language problems might be too much for him. He has only known the Arsenal bubble since a kid and leaving this security might be the making of him. Hope so for his sake.

  58. potter says:

Kelsey :- Get my E-mail from Rico and we will see if we have history , I have been around long enough . It’s quite possible.

  59. Hell Raising Devil says:

Going through the 25 player list that has to be submitted…it is evident why Campbell was loaned out. Currently we have 26 players and that is not including Chambers in it.

We need to replace Debuchy, Sanogo and Merts asap. Merts has age against him while Debuchy will not be getting enough game time unless Bellerin is injured or needs to be rested. Sanogo is well, Sanogo. Either loan him or sell him. He is taking a place in the squad and for what.

if AW gets Almiron then expect either Sanogo or Debuchy to leave….either on loan or sold.

  60. kelsey says:

We have been trying t sell Debuchy all Summer for 3 million. Two sniffs and nothing else.

I get back to my original point why loan Jack out (for the second time) on the last day.Is someone else coming in.

We seemed to have now retired Mozart,Flamini and Arteta.Szsney,Campbell,Wellington,Wilshere and Chambers and a few other kids all out on loan so one or two more injuries and we are short again. The sanogo is also back with us, he would drop the tea cosy 😉

  61. kelsey says:

IMO I would sell him, typical Wilshere making demands. This is what happens when young cocky footballers earn too much at a young age
    —————————————————————————————
So, goodbye Jack Wilshere. Arsenal are happy for their midfielder to leave the club on loan. Of course, were a club to offer a loads of money for the England player, then Arsenal would sell him. In an inflated transfer market, what is Jack Wilshere worth – £40m? £50m? £60m?

Although the Telegraph says “Wenger has no intention of selling Wilshere”.

That’s an theory expanded on by the Sun, which reports that “Wilshere demanded a loan move during crisis talks with manager Arsene Wenger”. The paper adds:

The injury-jinxed midfielder, 24, is yet to start a game for the Gunners this season and has been axed from the England squad… Wilshere was hoping to win a new contract at the club. But talks were shelved following another season spent on the sidelines through injury.

Is that demand to leave from Wilshere part of a play to secure that new deal? His current contract that earns him £90,000-a-week has two years left to run.

In May, the Telegraph said: “Arsenal are ready to reward Jack Wilshere for a positive showing at this summer’s European Championship with a contract extension.”

We all know how well that tournament went for Wilshere, who was poor.

    In January, the Mirror said:

Arsenal have reportedly shelved plans to hand Jack Wilshere a new contract after he was caught up in a nightclub fracas in the early hours of Sunday morning. The 24-year-old, who is yet to play this season after breaking his leg last August, was thrown out of London hotspot Cafe de Paris at 3am before being questioned by police.

He vehemently denies claims he threw a punch during the incident. Arsene Wenger is running out of patience with the £80,000-a-week midfielder, and the Sun claim he has instructed the club to put renewal talks on hold.

Wilshere’s current deal will expire in the summer of 2018.

Of course, Wilshere could stay at Arsenal and fight for his place in the side. But in the pecking order, he’s behind the hugely promising Granit Xhaka, Santi Cazorla, Francis Coquelin, Mohamed Elneny and Aaron Ramsey.

What next for Jack, the one Arsenal player who identifies with the club, signing off his tweets “Gooner” and goading Spurs? Surely Arsenal will aim to keep the 24-year-old, whose best years lie ahead of him?IMO

  62. kelsey says:

“Two days Kelsey, TW shuts tomorrow at 11pm, still plenty of time for Arsene… ?”

Spot on, that’s when he usually starts.I still keep hearing strong rumours about Draxler

  63. rico says:

But both of those articles are just opinions Kelsey, do we know if there’s any truth in either? We all know how the media like to stir things up…

  64. scottfromoz says:

I love Jack as a player, but we’ve never worked out how best to use him.
Our win/loss ratio when he plays is by far lower than when he doesn’t play over the last 4-5 years, and that says it all for mine.
    Morning all.

  65. kelsey says:

    True Rico

But he has been in bother a few times and the smoking episode and believe me AW is not happy with him character wise nor his parents. That is a fact.IMO he would be no loss others will think differently.

  66. rico says:

Scott, the only thing I like about him is he ridicules Tottenham.. 😉

Yep, I get that kelsey, personally, I don’t think he’ll be back..

  67. rico says:

Morning Adam, allegedly, although I think this is simply off the back of not being selected for England and getting game time under his belt.. Not convinced his ankles will ever be strong enough..

    Lee will be pleased… 😉

  68. Adam says:

    Rico. I think so. 🙂
I guess it at least shows that Arsene is being decisive over these things. Bit late though isn’t it?

  69. rico says:

It is late Adam, but I guess Jack thought he’d be an automatic choice for Big Sam and had he been, perhaps he wouldn’t be heading out on loan…

    I reckon AW has a surprise planned, I really do… 😛
