Oxlade-Chamberlain to Arsenal, yea or nay?

Morning all.

A few things have gone on over the weekend relating to Arsenal. The women’s team beat Everton 3-0 to keep their unbeaten run in the WSL going and remain top of the League. Bukayo Saka scored for England as they thrashed Andorra 5-0 and Thomas Partey got on the scoresheet as Ghana beat Zimbabwe 2-0.

Also, Tony Adams and Charlie George celebrated their birthdays.

The Sun, I know, not the most reliable of sources, suggest that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain might be returning to Arsenal in January on a loan until the end of the season. 2+2= 22, Granit Xhaka’s return might take longer than initially thought, or Arsenal want a bit of cover for Thomas Partey and Mo Elneny whilst they’re at the ACON. Jack Wilshere is already working on his fitness levels and as some of us have already suggested, ‘a play as you play contract’ given to him would be no surprise.

Come January, Mikel Arteta’s options will be AMN and Sambi Lukaku. They aren’t enough which was always going to be the case and probably the reason why so many of us here on HH were hoping, expecting even, for another midfielder back in the summer. Even with a fit Granit Xhaka, that trio is unlikely to be strong enough to cope with three competitions, assuming Arsenal will still be in the League Cup when 2022 arrives. There is another option for Mikel Arteta though and that’s Calum Chambers. A bit of a long shot perhaps but at least he has experience in that position having played there in the past.

If Liverpool are going to pay Oxlade-Chamberlain’s wages, Arsenal have nothing to lose by bringing him back to the club and if Jackie boy gets a short term deal, the same applies I think. It’s all speculation I know but two experienced players, both good players too would surely only help Arsenal to challenge for a place in Europe or get into one of the domestic Cup Finals rather than hinder? Jack loves Arsenal, we know that and his affection for the club can’t be bought. The younger players will love having him around I’m sure, just as they’d love seeing him back in the team and whilst Oxlade-Chamberlain might has cheesed off a few fans by heading off to Liverpool but who could blame at the time?

Anyway, speculation or not, would you like to see Oxlade-Chamberlain and Jack Wilshere be given deals at Arsenal until the end of the season?

See you in the comments.

    Spooky !!!!!

I posted this earlier on the last thread ,

First Jack and now the Ox being touted for return , this suggests that if there’s any truth in it that Xhaka’s timeline for return is a little more protracted than first thought.
As the Acon looms over the horizon we are just 1 more injury to say AMN or Lokonga and we are in major problems .
The deal being mentioned for the Ox is 6 months loan with a permanent deal on the table should it work out . I would not be surprised to see a similar arrangement for Jack and let them share the substitute role between them.

As you see I can see the value in it , both players know the club , both have every reason to want to be succesful and both would come relatively cheap to the club .

You don’t become a bad player over night and both in the past have risen to international status and in keeping with Arteta’s obvious plan , both are English .

I would be in favour as you say , even with Xhaka coming back from his injury , relying on AMN and Lokonga alone is as Jim Davison used to say , is tooo risky .

Ramsey is off to Saudi Arabia where there is lots of money anyway he’s Welsh.

So do we say Patino and Hutchinson ? because anyone we take for midfield in the market comes long term and puts their road to the first team back when the Africans return .
It’s a short term fix given to two players that we know the abilities of , that have every incentive to try their best to restructure their careers.

I think the club have little to lose with these two. In the absence of someone else who will strengthen our midfield from the academy or within the squad, I think we’re going to struggle in the new year. Of course, this is speculation and Arsenal could be going for Bissouma in January. As long as he’s not selected for the ACON too…

    Morning Rico and all
Jack maybe but only if he is paid when he plays, As for the OX he can f..k off so can Ramsey if he tries to come back.

  5. rico says:

Thats how I see it. A short term fix which would suit all involved. Plus, I can’t see Kroenke spending a lot of money in January.

    Morning Geoff, why re Oxlade-Chamberlain?

  6. allezkev says:

Afternoon Millennials, Alex Oxlade Chamberlain eh, the man who Wenger never played in midfield, who was never fit at Arsenal anyway and who has carried that on into his Liverpool career, not for me, but if it’s being reported, probably by Football.London, then I’d humbly suggest that it’s straight from his agent.

The fact that Partey and Elneny are off to the ACN isn’t a surprise and I’d guess that the club have contingency plans in place even if Xhaka being injured wasn’t in the plan.

Xhaka will hopefully be fit by the time Tom and Mo go off on their jolly so as long as that’s the case then I reckon that AMN, Lokonga and Granit can carry the load while our two Africans are away.

Jack Wilshere is a nice thought, I’d love it but it’s unlikely from a playing perspective, although having him around is great for our young players.

Rico I can partly remember an interview that the Ox gave and all he did was rubbish the club then after Liverpool beat us he rubbished the club again.

  8. Aussie Geoff says:

I can except a player leaving because they want more game time or come out and say that they couldn’t get on with the coach but don’t rubbish any club that gave you a chance just because the club you go to are on a winning run.
We need players that can help us go forward and I don’t believe the OX has anything to offer us.

  9. allezkev says:

Oh yeah, I get that Rico I really do and I’m not knocking it honest.

Three months to go before January and the click baiters are going at it ad nauseam about dozens of transfers and who Arsenal are signing or not signing blah blah blah and it must be an absolute war zone on the Newcastle sites, they must be signing everyone with a pulse and the ITK’s must be in their absolute element.

I mean people are losing their sh*t about Martinelli not playing and about Saliba being on loan but those same people are on Twitter ranting and raving about who we should or shouldn’t sign!
    It’s all very odd…

  10. allezkev says:

Fantasy football I suppose Rico, anyway I’ve got a ticket to the Palace game and I’m very much looking forward to the Arsenal supporters giving Vieira a fond welcome, before we beat them. 😉

  11. potter says:

If I remember most of the noise coming from the Oxlade Chamberlain camp was coming from his father Mark who was using his mates at Sky to do the unsettling.
Incidently his agent is also Maitland Niles ‘ agent and he is under investigation for paying incentives to sign up youngsters..

  12. rico says:

You jammy toad Kev, should be a really good game. Palace should have beaten Brighton so they’ll be a tough nut to crack I think.

  13. allezkev says:

    Stop Press:

Football.London reports that Alex Lacazette won’t sign a new contract with Arsenal…

Wow, the boys at Football.London have done it again, what a scoop, how do they do it, it’s amazing the way they keep on recycling the same old news.

    I’m so impressed… 😴
