Oxlade-Chamberlain dumped, Wilshere is back and Hector Bellerin ready to sign..

Morning all.

It’s bad enough not being able to beat the neighbours at the weekend but it’s made even worse knowing it’s now yet another two weeks of international matches.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been omitted from the England squad, which is no great surprise but back comes Jack Wilshere who for a change, has been playing a lot of football whilst on loan at Bournemouth. Apparently he’s found a posh bicycle, static I hasn’t to add, and has cycled his way back to full fitness. It’s called a Wattbike – a state-of-the-art ‘professional training machine’ which costs just over £2,250. Peanuts to him of course but a lot of money to you and I, well, to I anyway. But it’s clearly working for him, as is regular cryotherapy sessions in an ice chamber to aid recovery and apparently, he puts in extra strength and core work while continuing his ankle mobilisation programme developed for him by Arsenal. Good luck to him, I hope whatever he’s doing it helps his career. Theo Walcott is in the squad too which faces Scotland on Friday evening and then Spain a few days later.

As far as the rest of the Arsenal players go:

David Ospina heads off with his country for a couple of World Cup qualifying fixtures against both Chile and Argentina. Laurent Koscielny and Olivier Giroud have both been called up for France to face Sweden in a WC qualifier and then a friendly match against The Ivory Coast. Shkodran Mustafi is in the Germany squad to face San Marino and Italy, both of which are WC qualifiers. Mesut Ozil though has been given two weeks off by Joachim Low which is good news. Nacho Monreal heads off with Spain, to face Macedonia in a World Cup qualifier before facing England in a friendly. Mohamed Elneny has been named in Egypt’s squad for their World Cup qualifier against Ghana. Granit Xhaka has been selected for Switzerland’s World Cup qualifier against Faroe Islands. Aaron Ramsey will no doubt be welcomed back for Wales to face Serbia in a World Cup qualifier. Alex Iwobi has been called up by Nigeria to face Zambia in a World Cup qualifier and finally, Alexis Sanchez joins up with the Chile squad for two World Cup qualifiers against Colombia and Uruguay.

All those international players, yet we couldn’t beat the neighbours!

Tuesday 15th is the latest date which any of the above fixtures are being played so at least the players will have plenty of time to get back to London and prepare for the trip to Manchester. A match I’m dreading.

Some good news on the contract situation of Hector Bellerin. His representative, Albert Botines, has told The Guardian that the young Spaniard is on the verge of signing a new deal:

We are speaking and are now a lot closer than we were two weeks ago. In a normal situation he will sign. Hector is very happy at Arsenal. This would be the fourth time he has signed a new contract at the club and it is clear he has made good progress.

That’ll be one down with two to go as both Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil continue to mull over whether to stay or go. Fingers crossed all three sign up together…

    Morning all.
Rico, let’s hope we get these deals done soon, hey!
Stability is one thing we’ve got, and to keep Hector, Ozil and Alexis for the lng term would be a major boost.

  2. rico says:

Hope he still feels the same:

In a wide-ranging interview with the club’s official YouTube channel, Ozil revealed he was inspired to join the club in the hope of following in the footsteps of Arsenal’s greatest players.

“I spoke with [Arsene] Wenger and he wanted me at Arsenal. I said ‘if I get the opportunity to change clubs, you’ll be the first address for me,” said Ozil.

“So what I did after that, we spoke and I decided to come to Arsenal because I remember Dennis Bergkamp and Robert Pires, such good footballers and I wanted to be a part of that, to come to Arsenal to be successful.

Ozil has won two FA Cups since arriving at the Emirates with his maiden trophy in English football coming in his first season.

“It was good, my first and second year we won the FA Cup. I really enjoy playing for such a big club like Arsenal.”

  3. scottfromoz says:

Rico, it’s hard because a players of Ozils quality must be rewarded, but I always hope a player who’s happy at a club takes a little less convincing, so it’s a balancing act.
    Fingers crossed he stays.

Especially when clubs like Real M are actually skint and deeply in debt! Whilst the Arsenal cash bank keeps on collecting. And, we have Super Syrup always available to count all our gelt.

The 14 day break is now down to 12! Time flies, when you’re enjoying yourself!

Think I’ll go and clean out the stove, do the washing up. Oh! I’ve already done it. Nothing left to do……..ill make up some story that links one of our players to one of the larger European franchises!

Morning all. Even 12 days is a long time in football!

  5. Le Coq Monster says:

    Thanks Rico.

That Jack workout is not much different to my workouts, although my Spin Bike cost a tenth of Jacks and my missus sticks a bag of frozen peas down my pants instead of the frozen bath treatment………..actually, If I listed my full workouts it would put Jack to shame, so I should expect a call from Southgate ?. 🙂

  6. Le Coq Monster says:

    Just on newsnow !

“Ex-Tottenham vice-chairman broke fellow Harrods shopper’s nose in croissants row, court hears”

Typical Spud croissant the line !………..groan !

  7. Wavy says:

A croissant? A croissant! The man’s a spurs fan? You’d have thought it would have to nave been over a bagel!

If Alexis is injured that is not good, not good at all. But at least he’ll get a few games off. Perhaps Wenger wil be forced to let one of the young guns step up. But let hope our little jewel will not be sidelined for long.

  8. Bob John says:

No surprise re: Alexis. Can anyone remember us going to The Theatre of Pus with a full team? Even in 2002 we won the league there without Adams, Henry, Pires and Bergkamp!

  9. rico says:

Iwobi will be the next Bob, he’s been played far too much…

Just hope Alexis doesn’t stay with Chile as if there’s a sniff of a chance that he could play, he will…

  10. Le Coq Monster says:

Correct, Rico……………………cant stand the Chile FA, no respect or concern for us or the players injury or his well-being………selfish cnuts !

Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez has picked up a “low grade muscle injury” on international duty with Chile.

Sanchez, 27, will miss Chile’s World Cup qualifier in Colombia on Thursday.

But the Chilean team’s medical staff say the former Barcelona player could return for the home game against Uruguay next Tuesday.

“He will remain in Santiago, under treatment and in evaluation for the meeting against Uruguay,” said a statement.

  11. Marshall says:

They are keeping him? Chile Fa would rather tear the remaining tendons than resting him for full recovery. But what do they care, they don’t need him untill next year. From Tuesday he’s arsenal’s problem.

Can Trump veto this?- when he becomes the most powerful mad man in the world.

  12. allezkev says:

I thought that Vladimir Putin was the most powerful mad man in the world…

Don’t take my word for it, ask the Ukrainians or the Syrians in Aleppo…
Or a Red Cross lorry driver…

  13. Marshall says:

Kev I believe once Trump is in he’ll want to measure “who has the biggest junk” with Vlad.

Americans just like to scr*w the world. Trump is POTUS!

  14. Marshall says:

Morning Rico. There is a bright side for us, I hope he ruins the American economy so bad that the syrup Stan sells his Arsenal shares…hopefully in a years time.

  15. Marshall says:

You think Scott? Putin is quiet, calculative ..on the other hand we have Trump..

Ts he did say he’ll be the US brexit. Rico is to blame for voting out 🙂

  16. tsgh says:

Scott- Lol… It looks like so but will his sponsors want that?
    Trump’s speech was interesting.
I wonder what Sheldon Adelson will say to such friendship especially regarding Syria
Odd how Cambridge Analytica has won another election in the west.

Will Soros seek a refund? 🙂 He loses an election for the first time in 30 years

  17. tsgh says:

🙂 Marshall… were you looking over Rico’s shoulders when she was casting her vote like Trump was with regards to his wife Melania? 🙂

  18. scottfromoz says:

Two poor choices, but one at least brings change, and change is most definitely needed in world politics.
We can hardly pretend the world is on the improve,

  19. tsgh says:

Kev- Start getting your powdered milk and water bottles ready. 🙂

Scott- Russia and the west were not always enemies though…

Imagine Trump at the climate change summit. 😛

    Morning all

Lets look on the bright side !…..fat syrup wearing people will soon be able to abuse woman at will with no fear of reprimand or retribution, we can go back to oppressing them again !……………..I`ve been on the phone already to Don about Cornwall becoming the 53rd state of America !……………..I can easily become a fat bastard and shave my head with a collection of the finest syrups and cant wait for my new border control at the Tamar Bridge where every fit looking woman will get a welcoming fondle !.

  21. allezkev says:

Ginge, I have a years supply in the garage.

What I wanna know is how is Uncle Bob gonna receive this news…

  22. tsgh says:

🙂 Uncle Bob is probably indifferent so far as he can still evade his EU travel sanctions to visit the vatican. he is having a nice massage from some 20 something old women as we speak. 🙂

  23. Le Coq Monster says:

Already got a wall here !…………….that`s why it`s called Cornwall !……………….an impenetrable wall made of corn !…………………although I can see fire being a bit of a problem !.

  24. kelsey says:

It’s frightening that a man who can’t use twitter has access to a nuclear bomb.Let’s see how many of his pledges he fulfills and how many wll the Senate block. As I have said before we are at an age where we hopefully won’t be affected that much, but our kids and grandchildren is an entirely different matter.

The pollsters are doing well with Brexit and Trump and one has said Arsenal will win the PL three years in a row.

  25. Le Coq Monster says:

For the third time this week I will rake up the leaves, that`s the problem of having 5 acres surrounded by tree`s………….yes, it looks beautiful with the autumnal colour, but it`s a bastard clearing up and 5 acres ends up with me having a couple of acres !…………….and this will go on for a couple of months, need to invest in a powerfull blower or……………Rico, your not too far away in Berkshire !……….bring a rake !………………..I promise not to fondle you at the border control, I`ll welcome you with a pasty instead ! hahaha

  26. Malaga gooner says:

    Morning Rico and the house

It’s so quiet at Hilary Clintons HQ… You can hear an email being deleted?

  27. Wavy says:

I think I’ve just witnessed the American Dream Donkey Derby! You couldn’t make this up!
Trump doing any of the ridiculous things he promised from a wall to divide the US from Mexico to resurrecting the steel and coal industries in Ohio etc etc are pipe dreams at best. But, he has the majorities in both the Senate and Congress. Providing he can take his proposals to both houses his political allies will follow his edicts! Now that is scary!
Will we be affected? Do you know, I doubt it, we will be a small island state off the coast of Europe with little or no voice or power to offer the western world or even the eastern world, come to that. Ripe for any form of bullying the east or west want to inflict upon us.

    Or am I over reacting?

As for the syrup, he will probably be encouraged to get the hell out of that tiny country and bring his money home, so he can invest in the great US of A and make it great again! If he goes excellent! I shall be praising Trump all the way to his nuclear bunker!

We’ll still have the Uzbec’s cash, unless of course he becomes persona non grata and invited to return home to the east. Could he be seen as an illegal or just an unneeded immigrant.

I conclude that, “the world is on its way to hell on a hand cart.”

Morning all. What a grey day,
