Not great, but we dug deep to hold on…..

Morning Gooners,

Well that was a tough night!

We lined up: Mannone, Mertesacker, Vermaelen, Jenkinson, Gibbs, Diaby, Arteta, Cazorla, Podolski, Giroud, Gervinho

Substitutes: Shea, Koscielny, Santos, Walcott, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Ramsey, Coquelin

The first bit of action was within a minute of the start when Diaby got an early booking. This was shortly followed by the first goal of the night after Thomas Vermaelen gave away an early penalty – soft one I thought, another day that would have gone unpunished and questions could be raised whether the incident was inside or outside the box.

Still, penalty it was and up stepped Belhanda with a cheeky chip down the centre. 1-0

Did the Arsenal players heads go down, no. Did they respond, too right they did and the first came from Podolski.

Olivier Giroud played an inch perfect ball through the defence for our German number 9 to slot passed Geoffrey Jourdren in the Montpellier goal. 1-1

Moments later Gervinho scored what turned out to be the winner on 18 mins.

This time the ball was played out to Jenkinson on the right, his cross found Gervinho, who slotted home for 2-1.

Just after the half hour, Mannone tipped a long distance shot from Estrada around the post and the just before half-time, Gibbs crossed for Giroud, but the big Frenchman shot wide.

The second half begun and Diaby nearly cost us dear when he faffed around with ball in the penalty area, Cabella dispossessed him but thankfully his shot went wide.

We were really tested in the second half and sometimes our passing was woeful.

Cabella was causing us problems and on the 55 minute mark, only the crossbar saved us from conceding after he chipped Mannone from 20 yards out.

Diaby then romped passed the Montpellier players with ease and played in Cazorla, and only a good save from the their keeper prevented us from taking a two goal lead.

With fifteen minutes left to go, Giroud was replaced by Aaron Ramsey.

Belhanda could have easily brought the scores level with ten minutes of regular time left, he jinked passed Mertesacker but his shot was straight at Mannone and the Italian wasn’t going to drop that ball.

As the clock ticked down, Cazorla and Podolski were  replaced with Coquelin and Walcott, they had done their job and again they had done it well.

It was a tough tough night in France, we battled hard, we showed the mental spirit that Arsene Wenger often talks about but seldom have we truly seen over the last few seasons.

We had to dig deep last night and we did.

I’m not sure that we will face such a tough task again in this group stage and on last nights evidence, Montpellier will be a threat for any side.

They had plenty of chances to win the game last night but they didn’t take them.

We didn’t have so many, but we took ours and that was the difference.

Add to that, we didn’t want to concede goals and from open play we didn’t…

Great result I’d say…..

After the match Podolski and Vermaelen spoke to Sky Sports:

In the second half we were not great. But in these kind of situations you have to stay calm and not concede a goal.

The second half was not great, but we had some good performances. We have to stay focused and stay confident.

On the penalty incident, he admitted:

Maybe I have to be clever and not make a challenge. I was 100 per cent sure I could go for the ball, but he gave the penalty.

Podolski on his goal and the game and Sunday:

Olivier (Giroud) made a good pass for me. I like the situation to be one-on-one against the goalkeeper.

Like Thomas said, we played very well in the first half, but the second half was not so good. But we have the three points and in the Champions League this is important.

Now we go forward to the match with Manchester City.

We do indeed Lukas…

That’s it for another day, have a good one.

Morning all…Good result, good first half, shit second half and Diaby was shit lucky not to give a pen! Ho hum, three points bring on shiteh!

  2. Adam says:

Morning Rico, Lee and everyone. I think that it’s probably best to concentrate on the result and avoid dissecting the second half performance too much. There was cause for both optimism and certainly some pessimism. I do think that the recent International fixtures played a part in yesterday’s game though. But, hey, three points is exactly three points more than Man City got and I have quite forgotten Giroud’s performance already. Well, almost.

  3. rico says:

Agree there Ak, that run of his was stand out, but then he was a bit complacent too often..

But a really good result against a tough side, goodness knows why they are struggling in the league…

  4. allezkev says:

Maybe the ref did Rico, maybe he didn’t, but that doesn’t explain why he didn’t just clear the ball instead of poncing about with it in our box…
Mannone was pointedly telling him that he should have just got it away after Montpelier almost equalised.
Bould will no doubt emphasize that point to Abou…
Jenkinson might not look too silky smooth when he clears the ball, but he gets it clear and that suits me….

  5. rico says:

Suits me too Ak, no faffing just row z is sometimes needed.

But to go there and come back with 3 points is all we asked and that’s exactly what we did. Not sure the other two in our group will get a victory at Montepllier’s ground…

  6. allezkev says:

Morning Adam, good point regarding Internationals.
Wasn’t a classic by our lads, but that’s a nice habit to have, that is to win, when you don’t play that well.
As Lee says, bring on City.

  7. tspsells says:

really good game.we are coming together as a team.hope we are not to tired for the weekend.and not sure of theos roll this year or our little russian .

  8. allezkev says:

    Jamie Sanderson‏@YoungGunsBlog

Anyway, good week for Arsenal. Wilshere, Frimpong and Sagna all close to fitness. Squad shaping up nicely.

    Couldn’t put it better myself….
    5 games, 3 wins, 2 draws, 10 goals scored, 2 goals conceded, awfull isn’t it….. 🙂

  9. rico says:

    As did Belhanda Lee…

Get those two in January Arsene 😉

Mankini is battering Hart in the press today, hope he is rubbish on Sunday…

  10. kc says:

nice team performance…Giroud…what a team player….hope the assist eased the pressure….city defence had a nightmare yesternight…hope it continues against us

  11. allezkev says:

    Shame about Nasri Rico….. 😉
Any news on Aguerro, he loves playing against us…
Balotelli should also start this weekend…
    It’s gonna be a tough ‘un….
    I’d take 0-0…

  12. rico says:

Kc, just seen Reals’ last goal, shocking defending and Hart was awful, long may that continue….

    He sure will Ak 😉

Will we finally have a fully fit squad and not one player on the injured list…

  13. kc says:

    rico
had city won…..they would had been recieving praises even though they were second best to madrid….d fat ponce lesbian got injured..let pile up d pressure for mankini…..
Part of me wish city should had beaten madrid….maybe that would had got the sack for that egoistic, arrogant and kunt manager of theirs..i hate mou with passion

  14. rico says:

He did Lee, laughable really, then Hart criticised the team, and mankini criticised Hart – unrest in the Mank camp hopefully …

  15. Adam says:

Much as though I have real doubts about certain Arsenal goings-on at the moment I think the big loser last night was Tony Adams. With his ” Me?, I’m a deep thinker-I really am” hat on, poor old Tone cut a rather pathetic and needy figure alongside a very strange looking Glenda Hoddle who had been liberally treated with numerous male cosmetics and an increasingly rotund Uncle Fester. Desperately trying to convince everyone of the power and intensity of his intellect yet transparently furious that Bould had the job that he thought should have been his, he made himself look a complete twat, thus continuing the path previously trodden by so many ex-Arsenal players looking for the media shilling. Jeff Stelling, a short and rather dumpy man in his 50’s, had been heavily applicated with hair product and seemed to show the merest whiff of a Mohican I thought. Seldom have such a motley crew been assembled to comment on a match and quite why we have to endure Hoddle’s psycho babble and Wilkins sad impersonation of Ron Manager is beyond me.

  16. hakzah says:

    good morning …Rico…&.. all
    bon jour kev

yes indded,3 points are most welcome, it was a tough away match
Montpellier fans never stopped cheering on , was electric atmosphere, they were up for it and we got away victorious ,good sign not playing so well but still win it.

we dropped physically to bad effect in the sec-half and almost costed us the game, we could have done with fresh legs sooner than late 80s minutes ,wonder if le prof would have done it sooner if was on the dug out….so good we are having 3/4 players coming up soon to freshen up .

big plus …next CH- lge two matches are at home ,win them and we will be in great position .

now bring on the moneyshitty….we will roll them over..COYGs

  17. rico says:

I’m going to read that one Ak, when I have an hour to digest it all 😉

Not keen on mankini or Moanrinho Kc, but out the two, i’d rather Citeh lost every time. The more they lose, their confidence will be affected which can only help us and others in the PL beat them…

  18. gunnerdna says:

Good morning hh, a very good win afc, i honestly don’t care who scores the goals as long as the team wins. Giroud don’t worry mate, hard work is the key to success. COYGS, lets be happy people, no time to be negative this team needs our support. You all have a good 1, catch up later

  19. Scott from Oz says:

    Guys,leave Giroud alone.
    Also,Olivier…leave yourself alone.
His time will come…he is too talented not to be a success.
CL…especially away games,is ALL about the result, and we got 3 points,so all is good.
    Positives….another clean sheet..at least,in general play.
Gervinho and Podolski add another goal each to their tally.
Diaby showed in one solitary one that he is as talented as any central midfielder in the world…he truly is a BEAST.
Vito again showed he has a new composure compared to last season.
Finally,Tony Adams showed that a great player doesn’t make a great manager, nor does i make a great pundit.

  20. rico says:

I didn’t watch all that going on Adam, glad I didn’t now

Morning hak, i was surprised that Giroud and Diaby weren’t replaced – both were really struggling second half.

  21. kc says:

unrest in city camp…..that what you get when u buy a bunch of players thinking that they will make a team…..we suffered more during the beginnin of last season but we kept our heads going

  22. allezkev says:

I know it’s early days, and some may say he’s had a bit of luck, but as Scott mentioned, Vito Mannone looks so safe…
Great handling, strong in the air when taking crosses, great positioning making his saves looks easy, i really think that Szczesny, who i like, has a fight on his hands to retain the gloves…
I’d kinda prefer to have Vito in goal, at Wastelands, rather than Chezzer…

  23. Canadian Gooner says:

    Good morning Rico et al.

Last night was definitely a game of two halves. In the first, bar a few individual errors, we were assertive and fluid. The second was a disappointment but the team dug in and held onto a lead. The same couldn’t be said last season.

On further reflection I remembered the old addage “The difference between a good team and a great team is the ability to grind out a win when your not playing well.” The team continues to jell and it’s style continues to evolve. No need to lose my optimism.

  24. rico says:

Hi gdna, giroud will make his mark soon, maybe he’ll batter Citeh for us … 😉

Hi Scott – we have to pick on someone and today its Diaby and Giroud, what else can we do when we are winning 😉

  25. Adam says:

Hi Kev. I would like a world-class ‘keeper at the club myself. But they cost a few quid and don’t come with any guarantees.

  26. allezkev says:

Bould: “I’ve not seen many finishers as good as him(Podolski). In training, right foot, left foot – he goes in at 100mph, which is fab”

    Afternoon Canuck…

  27. allezkev says:

Bleacher Report – Arsenal: Montpellier vs. Arsenal: Gunners Still Have Work to Do http://ffd.me/ObY1Gk #arsenal #afc

    For you Adam…..
Mannone has the potential to be that G/k mate…
Can’t get over the improvement in his game.
Really hope he can keep it up…

  28. allezkev says:

Steve Bould : “Olivier Giroud did a really good team job for us tonight. He is another one who works really, really hard for the team.”

  29. allezkev says:

As you texted me Lee, ‘We are a team again’…..

Per: “I feel like we are in a better shape than last year, I think we are well prepared now.”

  30. rico says:

🙂 Adam, as soon as the whistle went, off up the wooden ones I went….

I know I am no tactician, but when Giroud was struggling, and they were battering us, the introduction of Theo may just have stopped them a bit.

Morning CG, agree and that’s just why Chelsea won last seasons final…

  31. Canadian Gooner says:

Adam @10:25 am — I think your right about Tony Adams. I think he is very envious of his partner Steve Bould being groomed as Arsenal’s next manager. I think that envy is colouring his thinking, or lack thereof. Tony did his apprenticeship, but wants to jump right to being a master.

  32. Canadian Gooner says:

AK — Good morning to you. It is very early morning here 2:55 am. You didn’t answer my question yesterday. After waxing so lyrical about the sixties, did you have a fare to Itchycoo Park?

  33. Canadian Gooner says:

Although he hasn’t scored yet, I still think Goroud is a good addition to the squad. He had a good assist yesterday and moves into space to receive the ball or makes space for other players. He cetainly seems to see and understand the game. I think oncw he scores his first goal he will be a regular on the scoreshhet.

  34. Adam says:

I agree Rico. They were committing so many players forward that we needed to have a player/players on who could threaten their exposed shape so the ball didn’t keep coming back so quickly. Giroud isn’t that player and Podolski was out of legs. Gervinho is quick but lightweight for me. Still, water under the bridge. Let’s just accept the 3 points.

  35. allezkev says:

Of course Canuck, your behind us…. 🙄
    Itchycoo Park, Small Faces?
No mate, i came home Monday, just cleaning out my lungs with some fresh air…
Up on the garage roof later today, to finish it off.
    I can’t laze about like Rocky…. 😛

  36. hakzah says:

    salut kev

most of the press here in france are giving credit to arsenal’s experience and professionalism in steering the boat over ,though
we were up against it for the most part of the sec/half ,we still managed to hold on.

for Montpellier’s first ever CL match, they haven’t done bad themselves ,optimism here they might sneak second behind arsenal in the group….they have some great talent there..maybe next Jan we could raid them for 1-2 players ?

most fans i spoken to before the match were happy to get a point against us,great respect for arsenal all around here.can only make me prouder..

am putting 20euros for a win V moneycity…happy days ahead.

  37. Canadian Gooner says:

AK — The article you linked in your 10:19 post was very interesting. One thing that rang true was the gradual return to Gibbs and Jenks marauding forward after a couple of games where they rarely crossed the centre line. Yet, the team can quickly regroup to defend in depth. I’ve been wondering if that may, at least in part, be why we haven’t seen Arshavin play. He was never one for helping out in defence.

  38. Adam says:

Kev. Isn’t Itchycoo Park really Valentines Park in Ilford?
You mind how you go on that roof. Oh and I go to Crewe on the 8th of October. All arranged yesterday. So I need a cab to Euston at 6.30 am that morning. 🙂

  39. Canadian Gooner says:

hakzah — You’ll have to find where mislaid Alladin and his magic jar so you can spirit Yanga M’Biwa and Belhanda away to London in January.

  40. allezkev says:

Good news there Hakzah, there is, of course, more respect for Wenger in France than over here, where our media experts laud the talents of Allardyce and Pulis, God help us…..

  41. allezkev says:

Canuck, there definately seems to be, to my uneducated eye, less of the old ‘We’ll play our game’ nonsense, and a more sensible use of adaptable tatics being utilised to counter opponants, this season.
Bould/Banfield whispering new ideas in Arsene’s ear prehaps?

  42. allezkev says:

    Valentines Park?
    Don’t know…
I’ve seen Essex play there, wonder what was in the cucumber sandwiches?
    6.30am i am asleep mate….
    Sorry.

  43. allezkev says:

Ok, i’m off for a spell of roofing, you can all start moaning now… 😉
Rico, no but, yeah but, no but, but what? 😛

  44. Lewis says:

    Morning all.

Unfortunately I missed the first half last night, but by all accounts we were good, what I saw was a painful second 45. The lads looked tired. But we ground out a result where in recent seasons we would have buckled and this pleases me greatly. As AK said good teams win when they are not playing well so hopefully this will continue!

Adam, enjoyed your 10:25, my sentiments exactly. Who the f**k wants to listen to those three talk about anything let alone football. Tony let himself down a bit there, spot of the Ian wrights about him?

  45. Canadian Gooner says:

AK — “…our media experts laud the talents of Allardyce and Pulis,…” The list of their talents, at least any constructive or positive ones, must be very very short if there is anything at all? May I live long enough to see the English “media experts” progress from the Neolithic Age to the 21st Century.

  46. rico says:

We may have been our own downfall re the tiredness, the passing was going astray and we had to do a chasing…

For one minute I thought Song was on the pitch, the passing was so bad 😉

  47. hakzah says:

    slaut CG…comment ça va?

hahah…sure come next Jan we shall try and lure them over…
must admit Mbiwa/belhanda look awesome and comfortable on the ball we have to keep rubbing that jar and live in hope.

and you have to reach Noah’s age to see the English “media experts” progress that far…honestly i wonder what they are all about at times…clueless to say the least

  48. Scott from Oz says:

I am pretty sure Arsene would have brought Theo on earlier, but Bould did well in his first game managing, let alone a CL tie.
Let’s face it…CL is all about the result, and we got what we wanted.
Toughing out a result is the difference between winning trophies and finishing as an also ran.

  49. hakzah says:

yes….this season am hoping we can introduce our subs earlier than usual….we seem to take ages in changes where fresh legs clearly needed.

with the pace Theo/Oxo have can trouble any team in the last 1/2 hour or so of the game….throw them in and stretch the game. to our advantage

  50. TT says:

Don’t know if you guy’s saw The Malaga game last nite but there is a player there that we were linked with in the summer and last night he really caught my eye. I think his name is spelled Isao or something similar. He was, from what I could see from highlights for the games, one of the best players on display.

As for our form against Montpellier, we played a team that was up for a scrap at a very hostile venue and we still came away with 3 points so no complaints there.

Next 2 games are massive though and if we get 4 points we will have made a very good start for the season and bar a serious injury crisis will be challenging for honors come May.

  51. Canadian Gooner says:

Scott – Good night, sleep well.

hakzah — Comme ci comme ça. I doubt I shall see either Noah’s age or an unbiased intelligent English sports media.

  52. TalkShiteGingerHater says:

    Hi rico.
Well MOTD is an insult to football loving TV license payers.lol.

This site is not making me get any work done in the office.haha
    COYGs.

  53. TT says:

I don’t think there is any chance of that TSGH. Maybe in a year or two but right now this guy is way a head of those two.

  54. Canadian Gooner says:

TT — We were linked with Isco late in the last transfer window, but I don’t know if there was much truth to that rumour.

  55. Romford Pele (formerly HC) says:

Isco is all that and a bag of chips. I was hoping we’d sign him in addition to Cazorla in the summer. Ox and Gnabry have a long way to go before they reach that level.

Valencia are duds for letting him go.

  56. Canadian Gooner says:

Well I have to get some sleep if I’m going to get anything done today. Have a great day fellow Gooners. Till Later.

Rico — Make sure AK gets down off his roof in one piece.

  57. Bob John says:

I’m still trying to work out how Arsene is double banned by UEFA for supposedly having some sort of contact with the bench when he was banned before yet Pardew was sitting in the stand on Monday night phoning down to the bench every 5 minutes!I know one’s UEFA & one’s FA but it does seem ridiculous.

  58. goonster says:

hey guys, how’s it going? rico, i just noticed lewis hamilton on HH hall of fame. is he a gooner? cause i heard he supports the dreaded manscum. yuck.

  59. rico says:

    Hi Goonie & BJ

Arsenal fan Lewis Hamilton is backing Gunners all the way

Arsenal fan Lewis Hamilton is backing the Gunners to go all the way – and admitted he would have loved to have carved a career in football.

The 23-year-old F1 sensation, who is preparing for the new season which starts in Australia in a month’s time, went to school with Aston Villa and England winger Ashley Young.

“We were in the same year and used to play together in the school team,” said the McLaren driver.

“He was a great player and a nice guy. I really liked playing football. I started in midfield and would go in so hard sometimes I would risk breaking something.

“I did not deliberately foul people or go in studs showing, but would give it a real sliding tackle. My problem was I always kept my head down looking at the ball rather than where I was going and would end up running into another player.

“I always felt I did twice the work of any other player but for half the result.”

The race ace also admitted he would love to see his team lift the FA Cup and tie up the Premier League again. “That would be just fantastic. And I’d love to be there when they do it,” he added.

  60. rico says:

oops, missed you Will, hi to you too – the second half was a bit of a worry, but credit where it’s due, they held on…

Reading allow it Tsgh, it’s ruins the pitch

  61. goonster says:

now that’s passion. he’s won me over. am now rooting for mclaren. used to be a ferari bob just like me dad but now(sorry dad sleep well in heaven) am a mclaren fan and ll make sure all my children are too(well as long as hamilton stays with them though) COYGS!

  62. TalkShiteGingerHater says:

I can understand Reading allowing it. There is no guarantee they will be in the EPL at that time.

Eboue at Old trafford tonite, I am looking forward to it. There could be a different sport going on at the same time as the match is being played folks. ‘Olympic standard freestyle diving ‘.

  63. rico says:

Still ruins their pitch Tsgh… We won’t like the surface 😉

Not sure goonster, hope so and he gets you know what…

  64. TSGH says:

Hey Goonster, Van P***y is fit unfortunately. Dont worry he usually always gets injured in the Oct/Nov international break.

  65. emma says:

    Good evening groovers,

Good to see our lads dug in for the 3 pts yesterday. I thought Giroud did Ok upfront. Diaby was a bit rusty. I wonder if wenger was on the dugout if he would have kept Diaby beyond the 65th min. He was leaving on the edge after 20sec in the match when he was yellow carded and had to be careful in his tackles. We buckle in the 2nd half b/s of Diaby’s situation with the yellow card. We needed Ramsey and Coq to freshen things up but was really surprise Bould made the first change pulling out Giroud whom i taught had a torrid time from Mbiwa. The first change was made in the 74th min. Wonder why it took so long. Post match comment by Bould(from 1:15) points to the fact the instruction came from Wenger to take off Giroud. I thought Don Vito did well b/w the post yesterday. Good positioning, aerial sense as well as good kicking and ball distribution. Hope he keeps it up. The defence was well tested yesterday, on another day or in previous season we could have buckled and conceded a goal but they stuck and dug in till the final whistle. The defence will get better and better as the season progress. Bring on one of the mancs. COYGs!!!

  66. rico says:

Hi emma – i think most of us think that about Diaby, and he could have easily given away a penalty in the second half. One which would have resulted in his departure.

Rusty, or just the Diaby we have seen before?

  67. emma says:

goonster – not bashing abou. I felt he was leaving on a knife edge after collecting that early yellow card. After watching the replay he was so careful to stuck into tackles and like rico said he could have caused us another penalty and probably a sending off. I felt he needed to be replaced in the second half(b/w 60 -65th min) but never did as a result the midfield suffered

  68. goonster says:

emma i know just trying to rile rico up…hehehehehe i love it when she’s all fussy. abou had just the entire team had a game of two halves. they just went to sleep in 2nd half. some blame it on fatigue others say its complacency. well we need to be on our A game if we intend to get anything from wastelands.

  69. goonster says:

errrr did ayone understand that gibberish? God give me strength. i so wanna smash this damned i phone on the wall. grrrrrr bloody contraption.

  70. rico says:

emma – totally agree, 65 mins, and Coq should have come on, and the same with Giroud too. As said earlier, they were bombarding us and we struggled to keep the ball. Theo coming on would have pegged them back a bit….

  71. goonster says:

just kidding maam, sorry for being an ass am just fooking bored outta my skin. hey adam, what chu gat for me?( see am even speaking in a southern accent, how bored am i. this is pathetic)

  72. goonster says:

hahaha cheeky chappie huh? sounds like grand dads’ pet dog, bless his memory. what is this i hear about viocheck being out for 3 months??? christ what are we gonna do with just don vito in goal? what if he picks up a red card or worse still an injury? God give me strength.

  73. goonster says:

where is the source of this tragic news rico? did wenger confirm it yet? JM, why dont you ever bring me good news fella? always terrible ones. why amigo why?

  74. goonster says:

now i know how jesus navas feels….christ i ll give anything to be at home now. eating my own food and speaking my own dialect.

  75. goonster says:

Adam if only it were that easy my man…..bummer. i ve got a contract to uphold but you re damn right am not gonna renew it, well unless they double my pay…..nah nothing will make me stay. i ve had it. i ve gotta go home.unless….hmmm maybe i ll suck it all up and ask for a raise and just stay another 6 months. nah nothing is worth this torture. am losing my mind adam. heeeeeeeeeeeeeellllllllllllp.

  76. goonster says:

i ve got another 3 months to go…..thanks adam you re a pal. i just miss home so much and mama’s home cooking. gosh what i ll give just to have a whiff of her kitchen.

  77. Adam says:

You can hang it out Stan. You’ve obviously got friends out there. Just relax and Christmas will be round in no time. I might even fly over and meet you for a beer in The Tulip hotel when I next go to Arnhem. I like the restaurants and especially the Dutch prawns at The Water Mill. I like the Dutch too. Very friendly and warm to an Englishman like myself when I was a stranger in a strange land.

  78. goonster says:

you ll do that for me…awwww shucks adam. you re a pal. you re right christmas is around the corner. i can hang it out. thanks man.

No kids Stan. Just the two of us rattling around the house driving each other mad. Well me driving Mrs Adam mad anyway. 🙂
I am just listening to some music relaxing and Mrs A is sending some e-mails to her mates. We are very ordinary people.

  80. goonster says:

hahahhaah adam you numpty let the old girl be please? what kinda music do you listen to buddy? please dont say classical!!!

  81. Adam says:

As you may know Stan I listen to music for a living and am currently reviewing about 20 new and old CDs. I do listen to classical as well as many other things. I particularly like modern female focal and have been impressed by Melody Gardot’s new album. I like any music that touches me really. At about this time of night (7pm), I do like to listen to piano music. I find it helps me put the day into perspective. The air is more still now and the autumn evenings are quite atmospheric.

  82. goonster says:

well sorry mr prim and proper…i listen to heavy metal. i hate rap music just cant stand it especially the new rappers these days. i like a bit of country from time to time.

  83. Adam says:

I have played in a few heavy metal bands in my time Stan and have done some studio sessions where a bit of mad axe work was called for. Not thrash stuff though. I also like country music and Mrs A is a big fan of Alison Krauss and Brad Paisley, to name but two.
I am not prim and proper, just older than you.

  84. goonster says:

hahahahah adam you crack me up…am trying to picture you in a band right now…sorry cant see it. maybe WATH but you re too a gentleman to be in a metal band.

  85. goonster says:

WATH is crazy, AK is calm but a nut case, lee is just wacko, micko is an irish gangster, devil???(where’s that twit from) but you adam, nah you re my big brother and i cant picture you in a metal band. no way.

  86. Adam says:

Thank you for that kind complement Stan. You might be surprised. I have probably done things that you would find hard to believe. Even I find it hard to believe I did them now. 🙂
Anyway, as ever, it has been nice chatting with you my friend but I am off for a couple of hours to do my knitting.
    See you later Stan.

  87. Joaquim Moreira says:

Eboue starts for the Turks against the Manure. The Red nose has made 5 changes from the weekend whilst we made only 2/3 changes last night. That is one reason why the manures never fade later in the season

Rumours flying around that Szczęsny could be out for 2-3 months with an ankle injury. Big blow for Szcz, but huge chance for Mannone

  93. rico says:

Well Ak, if he is, then we need to go and snap up Craig Gordon on a free, and there are a couple of others still available for nowt….
