Not another injury! But it’s not all bad news…..

Morning all.

Whilst it’s amusing to see the neighbours result in the sports news this morning, I’m not ready to laugh until my socks drop just yet but I do have a little smile on my face. I actually hope they come third in their group, resulting in them going into the competition they know so well. Sunday/Thursday football is their level at best..

In the league they are unbeaten and there’s no way can we let them have a chance of emulating our 2003/04 season and wouldn’t it be great to be the team who put a stop to that. A big boost ahead of a huge game, is the news that Mousa Dembele could be missing for the opposition after suffering injury last night. Harry Kane remains a doubt too and Moussa Sissoko misses out as he’s in the naughty corner having elbowed a Bournemouth player in the face last weekend and was hit with a three match retrospective ban. Toby Alderweireld and Erik Lamela both miss this match too.

More important than them is Arsenal and good news is that Theo Walcott, Santi Cazorla, Hector Bellerin and Nacho Monreal could all be back for the NLD at the weekend.

Aaron Ramsey may not have been born and bred in north London but he knows how important it is to the Arsenal fans to not only beat them but to finish above them in the league and he’s been talking to the official website:

Of course [finishing above them matters], it has been many years since that happened and we didn’t want it to happen last season. It was important for us to finish above them and hopefully we can keep that the same way this season.

They have been a tough challenge in the past couple of seasons. It is a derby game so we know what we are up against and what to expect. They are unbeaten in the league so far this season and it is going to be up to us to try and break them down. We are at home and I’m sure going into that game we will be full of confidence we can get a win.

I certainly hope he’s right although with players returning from injury, I’m not sure he’ll be on the pitch from the start, especially now Granit Xhaka has served his three match ban and is available for selection. Mohammed Elneny has been in good form too so Arsene Wenger really does have a selection headache ahead of the weekend. One important thing on Sunday though is keeping eleven players on the pitch unlike last season when Francis Coquelin has a moment of madness which saw him sent off for an early bath at White Hart Lane. Until then we were 1-0 up thanks to Aaron Ramsey and all over the Totts but two quick goals after the sending off put the home team in the lead.

Alexis saved the day with a 76th minute equaliser…

We have to go back to March 2014 to find the last time we beat the neighbours in the league so it’s about time that changed. And there’s no better time than in November 2016……

Morning again. I believe their manager is a relatively young bloke called Schmidt Rico. I even read an article saying that Arsenal have been watching him for a while as Arsene’s potential successor.
I liked the way his team approached the game.

  2. Adam says:

TS will know more about him I would imagine as he follows German football. He’s the new Tuchel who was the new Klopp once upon a time.
    He is rated though. 🙂

Morning all. I won’t get excited yet either as this would be a nervy derby. Despite them lacking a bunch of key players, only last season we went to old trafford being overconfident and see how it turned out.

I hope we don’t underestimate them and take this derby seriously as a final.

    Afternoon all.

Spuds could be in the bottom league and I would not be confident as even though they are in our shadow I suffer from Spuditis………… a medical complaint where someone fears losing to the lesser delusional deranged opponents ………….also the fear of losing to one`s hated enemy even though you have a weapon of mass destruction and they just have a potato gun ( Spud Gun).
I`m very superstitious, infact my worst nightmare would be to be blindfolded and pushed on to some crazy paving and told to get of without walking on a crack !. So everything will be crossed and I will be on the look out for signs until the match begins, saw two today looking (again) at car number plates, first one was…….N5 5HK….N5 obvious and 5HK short or SHKODRAN. Then I see one …………..TW0 2 GUN……..not sure what it means, but it could be a sign !
Right off to phone Superstitious Helpline as the thought of crazy paving has got me sweating !.

    Afternoon all.

Has to be 3 points this sunday, anything less will not do! Player for player we are far superior, we just have to translate that into a win.

Agree with you Rico, I don’t think ramsey should be starting for us either.

When all fit, hoping for this team:

    cech
    bellerin Mustafi Kos Gibbs
    Cazorla(is he injured)/Elneni Xhaka
    Chambo Ozil Iwobi
    Sanchez

  6. Marshall says:

Lol Le Coq Spuditis. Oh I hope I never get that!

Lewis, no points are guaranteed imo. And I think Theo would be back so for me he comes ahead of Ox.

Evening and here’s a kiss of death

    Arsenal v Tottenham (12:00 GMT)

November looks like a tough month for Tottenham, who face three London derbies against Arsenal (away), West Ham (home) and Chelsea (away), as well as trying to get out of their Champions League group.

Spurs are struggling, having scored only one goal from open play in their past three league games, so it is a good time for them to get Harry Kane back from injury.

Harry Kane could return for Tottenham against Arsenal – Mauricio Pochettino

Kane will be billed as their saviour, although I am not sure how much of him we will see against Arsenal because Mauricio Pochettino is not the type of manager who will rush anyone back.

Arsenal already have the likes of Olivier Giroud and Aaron Ramsey available again and, apart from that blip when they were held at home by Middlesbrough, they are in excellent form.

It is not a case of me being more convinced by the Gunners this season, because I am never unconvinced. It will be the latter part of the campaign that will be key for them, same as always.

At the moment, though, everything is going Arsenal’s way. Spurs are still unbeaten in the Premier League, but I see that run ending this weekend.

    Lawro’s prediction: 2-0

Nicole’s prediction: Sorry Dermot, I am going for a draw. 1-1

Oh the irony of the Champions League Heineken ad showing Maureen waking up some geezer in bed, like Marc Almond does in Tainted Love 🙂 Maureen’s style of footie would more likely encourage deep sleep 🙂

And besides, Maureen isn’t even involved in CL footie 🙂

Morning Rico and all. The whole Mourinho situation is endlessly amusing. He is a man who seems to bring out the worst in everyone. Karma is a bitch, as they say.

    Morning All
    Morning Rico
    Morning Mr Adam
    Morning Digger
    Morning to the whole world…

Agent Mourinho must stay at OT…
He wasn’t allowed to finish the job at Chelski, much to my regret, so him retaining his position in Salford is imperative…

Wouldn’t it make a pleasant change if, in a big game, the opposition have the injury crisis and not us..!
