Not Again Alexis! Arsene Wenger Confirms New Diaby Deal!

Morning all.

Alexis Sanchez has again been voter the Vitality Player of the Month award! Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain finished second in the  poll, with Calum Chambers in third.

That’s the third month running he’s picked up this award and it says just how good a footballer he is. Alexis  has already  scored 14 goals this season and it’s fair to say, he’s hit the ground running and is enjoying life in the Premier League. If the reports about him being unhappy remain true, he’s certainly not showing that on the pitch.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain said:

There is no rest for him. In training, he wants to win. He has brought that winning mentality to the side and I think it definitely rubs off on a lot of players.

It has been an eye-opener for me. To make it to the top and to be able perform like he does week in, week out you have got to be an absolute winner and you never want to lose at all.

He is not happy when he doesn’t score. If I scored as many goals as he has at this stage, I’d be over the moon.

He has been brilliant for us and a breath of fresh air, so hopefully he can stay in the form that he is in and we can help him out to keep producing goals like he has been.

Alexis might be scoring goals for fun but he wants more, his work-rate is clearly very high and he doesn’t believe in losing. Can the same be said for all our other players? Do they have the same winning mentality and work ethic? We see it in flashes from some but not enough and I do wonder why as surely any sporting professional has only one aim and that’s to be the best and win and the only way to do that is train and play hard.

Why does OC or anyone else need to feed off another player in order to aim high? Why don’t all players have that inner drive and desire to win?

Arsene Wenger has also been talking about our Chilean:

Alexis has such desire to fight and find something special to get the goal. We are in December, he arrived in July. When you look at the goals and the impact he has had on the team, it is tremendous.

Arsene, that’s what you get when you sign proper players, not players who might come good in a few years time or never. Mathieu Debuchy is another, the way he slotted in after arriving in the summer certainly helped soften the blow of losing Bacary Sagna and we’ve missed him. Hopefully he’s progressing well in training, no setbacks delay his return and he carries on just where he left off..

There’s always lots of talk about Arsene Wenger getting paid £8 million a year and because of it, he should be doing a lot better and I’m one who believes he should but not because of what he gets paid but because that’s his job! Well these footballers of ours, well most of them are probably earning in excess of £50,000 a week and that’s an awful lot of money and perhaps it’s about time a few starting earning it. Some already are, but not enough.

Yes I know we have won the last three matches and that’s great but the hard work needs to go up a level. Every player needs to reach the level which Alexis displays each game and if they can do that, we’ll continue this winning streak.

Stoke tomorrow will be a physical game, a battle against Hughes and horrid tactics and if our boys aren’t prepared to roll up their sleeves and fight for the three points, they’ll come back empty handed.

Giroud is certainly ready:

I feel good. I told the boss I am ready to play every game, so he calmed me down a little bit and told me, ‘we need to preserve you a little bit.

You’ve come back from injury after three months and we don’t have to go too quickly. Let’s take the time to come back well because we are not in a rush. We are going to play a lot of games in December and January’.

I did good work with the medical staff and I always had Manchester United in my head as a target. It was a great feeling to score, even if the result was not good, I felt good on my comeback and I’m sure it will be a positive from those bad results.

I can’t wait to play more. I feel good and my ankle is alright. It’s clear now so I’m looking forward to playing on Saturday.

I think he’ll start against Stoke, it’s his kind of game…..

I’ll leave you with a few words from the manager:

Abou Diaby is on the brink of returning to training. If he’s fully fit, he’ll have a new deal.

Speechless!

Have a good Friday all…..

Morning All, a new deal for Diaby eh?!

The actions of a manager who cares and appreciates the efforts that Abou has made to recover from a host of injuries…

    Or

An irresponsible waste of the club’s finances on a player who is never going to be fit enough to perform regularity in the EPL?

  2. Joe says:

At least Wenger is not getting blamed for the weather anymore but like Wenger you can’t keep blaming refs for everything.

  3. allezkev says:

Hackney Marshes, Wanstead Flats, Isle of Dogs, frosty mornings, nobody running the line, players bringing up the previous evenings kebab/KFC/curry, an icy blast up your shorts, Fred giving Ya grief from the sidelines, yeah, I loved it… 😉

The tropical storm off the Philippines coast is getting stronher guys. Let’s all say a prayer for agag and her family. Just saw it on the news. That’s some typhoon.

  5. goonster says:

Morning rico the question is how long can we keep him? I heard santi is planning on returning to Spain for the remainder of his footballing career. Says he needs to win more trophies. Whatever that means. Lol

  6. Lee says:

No, Wenger is the bollocks! The mantra like chanting shall commence in 5 minutes, who’s got the red hats?
    Stan what’s happening!

Good Morning to The Lady of the House and all fellow Gooners in residence.

Rico – Great article, I couldn’t agree more. Alexis might just be the catalyst that helps get the best out of his team mates. They have been playing more as a team recently and everyone is putting in more of an effort. Even old Flamoney has been holding his position at CDM instead of of chasing all over the field like a headless chicken (Rico – my apologies for that image).

Kev – An ex-referee – well that does explain a lot, including your often unique point of view (Ha! Ha!).

  8. Canadian Gooner says:

What’s this? Kev meditating on Henry James “Hari” Redknapp.

Rico – You’d better call Wath and tell him to pick-up Granddad. He’s gone off the rails.

  9. frednerk says:

    Morning All,
    Hackney Marshes sunday morning,
North Marsh,South Marsh,East Marsh,Mabley Green and the Triangle,
    every pitch on the go,
Saw an aerial shot from a Jimmy Greaves book, a few years ago.

    Kev,how amazing was that place.

  10. rico says:

    Morning Cg, thank you..

Not sure what’s happened to Flamini, but whatever it is, I wish it had happened sooner. Would love to know who has had a word in his ear…

    Poor chickens.. 😉

  11. rico says:

    Steven N’zonzi:

“We know Arsenal play good football but it gets harder for them when you start kicking them a little bit. “They don’t like it but we’ll keep doing it.”

I hope Marriner has seen that!

  12. goonster says:

Oh boy is this football or kick boxing? Something should be done about this. People can’t just go around kicking lumps out of othere all in the name of sports. That’s crazy. I ll sooner shoot somebody.

  13. goonster says:

Rico all refs are the same to me. We neve seem to get the rub of the green. Even in Europe. I think the refs have something against us.

  14. Canadian Gooner says:

Lee – Here’s hoping that the the Fellowship of the Arsenal are up to the task of orc slaying, especially that malignant troll Shawcross.

Maybe Arsene should phone up Sir Ian to see if he can borrow Gandalf’s staff and sword.

  15. frednerk says:

    Shawcross skinny effing muppet,
    Just shout out,,”Fellaini” behind you.
    Then watch his Aristotle go.
He did naf give him a slapping..Didn’t he.

  16. Canadian Gooner says:

I’m off to bed. Have a great day everyone.

Here’s for another clean sheet tomorrow.

    Keep The Faith!

  17. rogerbij says:

Afternoon all, players also shouldnt be allowed to go round SAYING “we’re going to go out there and kick you”. Thats a threat, and we dont need that in the game. Not for fans, not for kids.

The story about Santi leaving to Atletico for trophies is obviously nonsense – last year was an amazing anomaly that Real or Barca didnt win it, and if you want to be sure to win trophies in Spain youve got to be at one of those 2 clubs. So completely made up story.

Now, its not that I dont believe you Rico, but I spat my coffee and had to check whether Wenger really said Diaby would get a new deal. Youre right – Arsenal.com reports “on Diaby and his recovery…Abou Diaby is on the fringe of coming back into full training but he is not there yet. He has a calf problem. His injuries are never severe but little ‘grade ones’. He is not available yet. If Diaby is fully fit, he will have a new deal at Arsenal. ”

So Im going to choose to interpret this another way. Since Diaby is nearly never fit, its safe to say he wont get a new deal at Arsenal… Ah… minds put to rest 😉

  18. rico says:

    Afternoon Roger.

Totally agree and the FA should take some action on N’zonzi’s comment imo.

    Can’t believe you didn’t believe me…. 😉

Off out with Fido, catch up later…

  19. allezkev says:

And The Arena, Fred, next to the flyover…
Yes, every weekend there were games everywhere on the Marshes.
Just turn up with your boots and you could get a game…

The Triangle is now some kind of Eco Space…

Fred, did you ever play/watch a game on the AstroTurf at Market Road?

  20. frednerk says:

Kev played for a greek side sunday afternoon £14 a game Cyprus League,
I was one of 2 foreigners permitted and a bloke who played for Enfield,
100 mile an hour football, sure we played on that.
Only got the £14 if we won.

  21. allezkev says:

Totally different game on the plastic Fred, even in the wet…
    Islington MidWeek Lge was it…?

I used to enjoy the games over there.

And I never got chloroformed either…

  22. goonster says:

Lol rico don’t worry we ve got Ollie back. We ll give them a thrashing. Am feeling really expansive 4.1 to the arsenal. COYFGS

  23. goonster says:

He’s back rico…Welbeck has made him improve his game. Have you noticed he’s hitting the target more than ever before. Plus wanyamayama bounced off him. Once Ollie came in he became a fruitcake.lol.

  24. goonster says:

They ll be too busy trying to stop sanchez. Aoc ll be their undoing. A hatrick for the ox and an own goal via a deflection of sparky’s gob. Lol

  25. goonster says:

He will rico….he finally broke his duck against a top 4 team. His confidence is sky high. Plus I don’t think wenger ll rest alexis. When has he ever?

  26. goonster says:

Is she chezzer fit yet?? I hope notm.would love to see more of Martinez especially against a thuggish ruggish team like stoke rugby and American football club.

  27. goonster says:

Rico I don’t care if we are playing barca and Madrid in 2 days. Wenger don’t rotate. How many times have we said that in the pass? Plus we are never going to win the CL so…lol

  28. Rick says:

    Afternoon Rico and the House.
After all the rain this week today is pretty chilly down south.
I understand that Rosisky is doublfull for tomorrow and that Maitlaind-Niles has travelled with the team. I know Arsene rates him but I think this would be the wrong game to blood him.
Good post by the way Rico.

  29. allezkev says:

Yeah Rick, I can just imagine M-Niles trying play some technical stuff with N’Zonzi going they the back of him…

  30. Joe says:

Rico about your @ 3.46 what kind of issue can you possibly have with the nice fluffy ref for tomorrow’s game. 😉

  31. Joe says:

Oh it’s Taylor say no more hope they have a mash(hawk eye showing my age) unit at the stadium for the players.

  32. Joe says:

How about a broken player or wrong game changing decision and whether people like it or not it will happen tomorrow.

  33. rico says:

Joe, I get where you are coming from but all this blaming the ref for everything is probably something which arsenal untold would love to hear….

And predicting a ‘broken player’ is crazy….

  34. allezkev says:

Stoke are really an easy club to hate…

They employ managers who Charlie Hughes would love.

They fill their team with players who could do a job for the Warrington Wolves.

The fans at their shitty stadium are easily the most ignorant, brainless scumbags you could ever wish to meet, or avoid…

Technique is a forbidden word in Staffordshire.

    Do they have an Academy…?

The last skill full player they brought thru must have been Stanley Matthews?!

  35. Joe says:

It’s just that what I expect from our experience with a number of refs and Taylor is one of them and I hope to god I am wrong.

  36. Joe says:

6 broken legs and jack this year and Dean was in charge of 3 of the matches. The way I see it not everything is right at Arsenal and results do not always go our way but I am willing to except it’s not all Wenger’s fault.
Good night let’s hope for good weekend

  37. allezkev says:

I read somewhere yesterday, that Wenger rested Thierry Henry, and Bobby Pires, when they were at their pomp.
Apparently this was mentioned because Wrnger has spoke. Of the need to give Sanchez a breather sometime over the Holiday period…

    Really????

Well excuse me, I don’t remember Wenger resting either Henry or Pires…

I remember Pires doing his cruciate in an FA Cup tie after Wenger had run him into the ground.
And I remember Henry regularly picking up niggling fatigue related injuries in late March, April, every season, as he was run into the ground…

And did not Ozil suffer a massive dip in form during his first season after Wenger failed to give him a break?

  38. allezkev says:

    Morning Rico

Yes, I agree, Sanchez on the bench today and out of the Gala game…

    It won’t happen…

I’d start Campbell today, he can get stuck in…
