No Foot Injury, He was just Making his Mind Up….………

Ghana Football Association president Kwesi Nyantakyi has spoken out about our young feisty midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong and has been bold in suggesting they have secured his services on the International front.

Recently Frimpong had been called up by Stuart Pearce for the England under 21’s but he withdrew from the squad citing a foot injury. Well I don’t believe he was injured, he’s been mulling over the decision of which country he wants to play for, his birth country or his adopted country and now it seems he’s chosen the Ghana Black Stars.

Frimpong was born in the Accra, the capital of Ghana but moved to north London at the age of eight and has gone on to represent England at Under-16 and Under-17 level since joining the Gunners.

The little tinker was at Craven Cottage on Monday to watch Ghana play Brazil which suggested his heart was with Ghana.

Well it’s all but confirmed that we English fans won’t get to see him in our national colours and to be honest; I think they have lost out on a very good player…

Kwesi Nyantakyi has had this to say about Ghana’s capture:

He will play for Ghana, We had a meeting and he told me he wants to play for Ghana.

We will send off all the necessary paperwork to Fifa now and we hope to have everything concluded within two or three months.

I am very happy for this because he is a good player.”

John Pantsil, captain of Ghana thinks he has made the right choice too:

If he decides to play for Ghana he will have a chance to come and improve. He is from Ghana. We have lots of young players coming up. Frimpong is one of those and he would be good for the team.

I haven’t spoken to him about it. That will be up to the (Ghana) football association.

Another player lost to the ACON 🙁

Peter Hill-Wood is obviously bored and thought it was time to let all fans he is still the club’s Chairman, talking to his favourite paper he has made it clear to all Arsenal Fans that Arsene Wenger’s future is not in any doubt.

“It’s complete and utter rubbish and absolute nonsense. I think he is happy enough and we are happy enough,” Hill-Wood told the Daily Star.

That’s good then, now is not the time to be changing our manager, now is the time to be behind him and the players and get our footballing show back on the road again, starting on Saturday against Swansea.

We know we will be without Thomas Vermaelen and no doubt Per Mertesacker will be thrown in at the shallow end but he has a dreadful game for Germany last night according to reports.  I didn’t see the game in which Germany drew 2-2 with Poland.

I wondered if he really was that bad, or are the press now knocking him already as he’s become an Arsenal player?

If so, it didn’t take them long did it…..

As today goes by, I hope that all those away on International duty return to London safe and sound, no bruises, bumps or otherwise – we may then just have a chance of beating Swansea on Saturday…

Have a good day all, only a couple of days to go and proper football is back….

Can’t wait for the Swansea game!

Here’s hoping as many as our new players get to play!

It will be very interesting indeed!

    And good morning everyone!

ARSENAL have seen their incredible injury jinx strike again.

Defender Kyle Bartley, on loan at Rangers, yesterday underwent a double hernia operation.

Bartley actually joined the Scottish club having already picked up the injury while with the London club this summer.

He has played once this season and after the problem deteriorated, Rangers and Arsenal agreed that he needed an op.

  3. rico says:

    Morning Lee

Don’t think we suffered any more injuries after last night – phew..

Can’t believe poor old Bartley is injured and we can’t even blame our medical team for that one 😉

  4. Jamie says:

Mertesacker will be become much worse than Squilacci and Cygan combined. He’s slow, not able to read the game, left for dead against pacey forwards.

I still can’t believe why we didn’t signed Cahill or Jagielka when we have the chance. I think, judging from the game against Poland, I’m afraid our defense is getting much worse than before. Perhaps giving chance to Bartley is a much wiser move rather than buying this slow German defender and playing “I can’t head the ball” Djourou.

  5. rico says:

    Hi Jamie

Most of us here wanted Cahill, he and Merts would have been a good double defensive signing. Merts will be ok, he big and strong and good in the air….

Personally I still think we are one central defender short as always and now Cahill is making his mark with England, the Chavs or Citeh will try and snap him up in Jan 🙁

  6. ClockEndRider says:

    Jamie,
I bow to your encyclopaeddic knowledge of overseas leagues and ingternational players.
Can you tell me how you developed this in depth knowledge of the 76 times capped German International?

  7. rico says:

    Chavs will do ADK 🙁

CER – so many people think Merts is slow and won’t adapt to the PL, I’m not so sure though, he didn’t get where he is today being slow and unable to read the game…

Big Tony wasn’t the quickest but he wasn’t bad was he 😉

Can’t wait to see him in his long red and white shirt on Saturday…

  8. ClockEndRider says:

    Rico,
My point exactly. But simply apeing what the hacks, who have seen no more and probably less, of this player than even we have doesn’t give the view any validity.
Joachim Low and others picking him 76 times for a country with a genuine pedigree in world football says rather more to me.
But then I guess I’m a bit old fashioned like that…..

  9. Rockyrocastle07 says:

Can’t believe people are saying Merts won’t be good enough! Saying he will be worse than Squid and Cygan is possibly the most ridiculous thing I’ve heard in a while!

Cahill would have obviously been a great signing. It didn’t happen, so why go on about it? Jamie said he’d rather have got Jagielka rather than Merts. Is that based on yesterday’s match when he was basically left defending on his own?! Jakielka has been woeful so far this year, with errors galore, so not sure how your argument weighs up.

Tired of hearing the “has Premier League Experience” excuse for wanting him. Why is that? If you’re good, you can play anywhere. Plenty of people hacve been amazing in their debut seasons in our league, sio that argument doesn’t hold as much water as people would like to believe.

  10. rico says:

CER, hence my comment in the post, ‘was he really that bad last night, or just the media picking on him now he’s a gooner’ – i know what my money is on…

I haven’t seen enough of Merts recently to make comment on his performances but i have a sneaky feeling he’ll show on saturday just what he’ll bring to our club…

  11. rico says:

    Rocky

Agree re Jagielka, his heading towards his final years, he’s always crocked and i’m really glad we didn’t get him…

  12. Micko says:

    Moaning all,
Tony adams, mr arsenal, what a leader he was.
Do you remember when he crashed his car into a wall and got done for drink driving, he claimed he was only trying to move the wall back 10 yards.
Anyway, anyone can have a bad day at the office, look forward to seeing Pers silky skills the weekend, roll on saturday.

  13. Micko says:

Yeah rico, he had more than his fair share of knocks, I wonder how many times he played thru the pain barrier for the cause, it definately caught up with him in the end, he would have sailed past David o’leary on the appearance stakes, i would have loved to have seen him up there as number one.
A lot of players would have crumbled under the stick he took but it seemed to make him stronger, they don’t make them like that anymore.

  14. Mike mcdonald says:

Frimpong is eligible for Saturday right? Some blogs are saying 3 match ban but it was a one match for 2 yellows I thought??

  15. goonster says:

Hi all…..been kinda busy lately that’s why I couldn’t blog…..so what’s new with the arsenal? Heard the verm ll be out for a couple of months….am so milfed. Was really looking forward to seeing him line up alongside mertesaecker. Bummer! Oh well at least I get to see santos and arteta tear swansea a new one. Roll on Saturday….COYGs

  16. rico says:

Micko, they sure don’t and not with the passion and heart he had for Arsenal…

Frimpong could be the next though, he said he’d beg on hands and knees if we tried to sell him, he’s a gooner alright, as well as Jackie boy….

  17. rico says:

He missed the england game last night but haven’t seen why or if he’s out for us…

was reported yesterday he had a dodgy hamstring, nothing on afc.com about him and the injury page does appear to have been updated for a change…

  18. rico says:

TT – to be honest, i wouldn’t mind Oxo getting his chance this weekend, and Ryo at some stage of the game…

    goonster, i know 😉

  19. Lee says:

Guardian journalist Daniel Taylor on Twitter: “French journalists telling me Samir Nasri has broken a bone in his hand. Trying to establish what’s happened.” wage packet fell on it??

  20. Rockyrocastle07 says:

Spot on Rico. It must be worth giving Ox a shot. He seemed to play without fear for the U21’s. Theo always seems to me like he’s scared avery time he gets the ball!

Hope Henri comes back to us and doeasn’t get sold. It would be unforgivable if we let him go and keep people like Delinson / Vela. Different positions, I know, but you get my drift!

  21. rico says:

Pity it didn’t fall on his foot Lee….

Rocky, I think Wenger has ruined a few players, Theo, AA, Nik (ish)..

Hope he doesn’t do the same to Oxo, and why Henri hasn’t been given a chance….. grrrrrr

  22. Joaquim Moreira says:

    Bendtner scored twice yesterday
    Eduardo scored twice too.
we need to wake up quickly and go to top faster. Otherwise, we will be in deep troubles

  23. Rockyrocastle07 says:

I don’t think Eduardo’s ability was ever in question. His confidence was massively knocked when that c*nt shattered his leg, and was never the same player.

  24. allezkev says:

    Afternoon Gooners.
Really looking forward to the Swansea game.
Mert, Santos & Arteta in starting XI i reckon.
Fresh legs & fresh minds to give our team a lift.

  25. Micko says:

Kev, of all the new signings i’m looking forward to seeing Arteta the most, this is his chance to really shine.
I will hopefully make an appearance on match of the day as well as the camera man guy usually runs up and down the line when we score, blink and you miss me.

  26. allezkev says:

Both Mert & Arteta are talking as excitedly as a fan would about playing at The Grove.
Great to have players who want to play for the shirt.
Mick, i’ll look out for yer on MotD.
    Lee, rock on mate.

  27. stevepalmer1 says:

    Evening all, nice one rico,
Don’t like the sound of vermin, could be a long one that, The sack man will come good, saving himself for the weekend, theo gone out in sympathy, Ryo or the ox i don’t mind who, as long as they go forward and not backwards, to much of this sideways backwards type of play even England are doing it whats all that about. get our players all forward give it to them and bang the fucker in the goal as rico says simples

  28. stevepalmer1 says:

I must say i am very disapointed with Frimpong’s decision to choose Ghana over England, A young man who came over here at eight years of age, probably for a better life, his parents must have got work and he shows a talent for football, we train him and employ him, give him a good living and he plays for England on the way up, and then when he makes it and can represent the country he has been playing for, he decides he’s Ghanian, they did nothing for him and we did everything. Frimpong is not the loyal man i thought he was.

  29. Danish Gooner says:

Have watched Mertesacker more then 50 times playing for Werder or Germany the only thing i can say is CLASS written all over, unless Wenger starts him as an Attacker or midfielder he is gonna be the business,he is head and shoulders above our current dross(Vermaelen apart).

  30. stevepalmer1 says:

Pleased to hear that DG, don’t know that much about him to be honest, but looking forward to seeing him play.

  31. rico says:

    Evening Steve

Just got home – I’m disapointed in Frimpong too, for the same reason you say – it’s like he’s turning his back on the country that gave his family what they have today….

Also, I think he’d have made it big time with with England…

    Guess his ‘idol’ is Essien….

  32. rico says:

Ha ha Steve, i think it’s the storm after the transfer window and the lull of the internationals…

Hopefully things will pick up at the weekend….

  33. allezkev says:

What’s all that i read on LG the other day…
That Ursmanov may get invited onto the Board..?
    Ursmanov could mean Dein…
    Interesting eh?

  34. rico says:

Three Steve, Jenkinson, Gervinho and Song 🙂

Hi Kev, I read that post too, in fact I read every LG post, I love the ide of AU getting on the board, I’m sure he’ll want to hand over a penny or two when he does.. 😉

Two years, that’s what i think, by then AU will own us outright…
