No Changes Says Arsene! Paulista Deal Off?

Morning all.

I go from being too romantic to too pragmatic. We knew that it was important for us to be a bit more cautious. We wanted to be a bit more reassured.

Last year we conceded many goals in big games so maybe we were a bit more focused on defending well together. But it’s not the basics or philosophy of our game. That will always remain.

We are not going to change our style. Of course we want to be defensively strong but we want to play.

That’s Arsene Wenger talking about our steely performance last weekend…

I didn’t think our attacking game changed much last weekend as we had chances and a good few too, the difference I saw is our fullbacks weren’t quite the wingers they normally are and Francis Coquelin didn’t dare to stray over the halfway line too often. Aaron Ramsey held back too for most of the game but when he did push further up the pitch, City saw more of the ball but thankfully those moments were few. Added to that of course was our forward players put in a shift, especially our little Spaniard.

We won’t always have to play that way but on the road, I hope we do a lot more often. Stoke away from home is the perfect example, as is Swansea, Chelsea and Southampton and even Hull City and Liverpool. Had we been more organised and more defensive, all of those results could have been bettered. And that’s what wins the league, playing the right way on the right day. The best they can of course….

And I’m a firm believer that to play in such a way, a side doesn’t always have to be full of world class players. It helps in certain key positions but look at Francis Coquelin, a player who has featured in just forty five matches in four and a half seasons whilst out on loan but on Sunday, he was solid. He went about his business with little fuss and he held the midfield together very well. Is he world class? No, far from it. The same could be said about our defence and goalkeeper, are any of them world class? One could be tempted to cite Laurent Koscielny but not me, he’s very good but not world class.

But put the players all together and send them out onto the pitch with a plan, what they can do is give a top class performance.

Isn’t that all we ask for?

Transfer gossip:

Spanish newspaper Marca claim Paulista’s agent has flown in for for talks with Emirates chiefs to seal a deal for the defender although Arsenal are refusing to pay the £15m asking price. LvG is apparently now ready to hijack the deal and take the player to Utd.

A few headlines suggest Arsene Wenger will try and snap up Norberto Murara Neto in the summer when his current contract expires. If true, I guess that’ll be then end of Wojciech Szczesny’s Arsenal career…

That’s it for Friday…..

Kozzer not world class rico? ? Are u freaking kidding me?? Because he plays for the arsenal? ? Oh I guess varane is world class then? Or Gary Cahill and his fuck face partner cnut terry. Boy I outta…..lol

  2. Wath says:

    Morning you lot….

Almost seems as if Arsene is being all apologetic for winning a game and not being gung ho about it…. I think when needed we played some really good football last week and maybe that’s his biggest issue, he wants to just play pretty football yet thinks being solid at the back isn’t being pretty…! Well the back four don’t win you a game attacking Arsene they win it by defending, let the other players on the pitch do the attacking and as you’ve stated many times the last few months, get that balance right and we will lose very few games as shown by the set up and commitment shown by the players against Citeh….! Keep that attitude and put in that kind of effort every game the talent will shine through once the hard graft has won the battle.

  3. goonster says:

As a matter of fact I think mert santi ozil (obviously ) rambo and sanchez are all worod class players. Others like jack the lad theo monreal and the HFB are not too far away. The question is what constitutes a world class player? The word is bandied about too much it’s beginning to piss me off.

  4. Tlailaxu says:

I think paulista deal was never on to start with, I hope I’m wrong and it comes off but, with current regulations its a non starter…

Apparently we want Ilarame ei of Real Madrid… But that’s another AM… Not what we need right about now…

  5. goonster says:

Rico you just made my hall of fame list. That’s the word right there. Tactics formations wins you games and titles. The Greek team of 04 euro championship wasn’t all that but they won the tournament conceding what 2 goals?? Come on guys the word world class just irks me. So I guess di maria is world class then? ? Or Oscar willian and the rest of that inbred cnuts up in west London. Oh give me a break.

  6. Wavy says:

Is Paulista, Wenger’s way of showing the fans that he tried to sign a player, but failed! He will say, “we tried our hardest and did our best, but it was not to be. We try again in the next window”.
Now doesn’t that have a familiar ring to it?
    Hope I’m wrong….but I never am!

Morning all you happy transfer wishers. …..and Rico

  7. goonster says:

Sorry rico with santi’s current form I ll say he shold be in the top ten players right now on the planet. He’s been our best player over the past few months. Titi agrees with me 😀 : santi sanchez ozil merteshieny and rambo are world class players.

  8. Tlailaxu says:

Like I said Wavy, if you look at current work permit rules and regulations, paulista deal is not happening until further notice…=)…

  9. scottfromoz says:

Kozzwr IS world class, and of that, there is no doubt.
He’d get a GG in any side in world football.
Lucky it’s ok to disagree else we’d be searching for a new Queen after that one bahahahahaha.
    Kidding guys…..morning everyone.
We have a few world class players, and ame who will be with more consistency.
Stan, good to have ya back, ya miserable bastard 🙂
To those who wished me well yesterday I can’t remember feeling that sick for a long time, bit was a 24 hour gig, and I’m back to haunt you all now lol

  10. Lee says:

If you had to pick a world 11 right now, only Sanchez would get a look in.
If you think Merts,Ramsey would get in, I’d like some of what your smoking!

  11. rico says:

The Arsenal boss believes the regulations should be relaxed on foreign imports arriving into the UK.

But Allardyce firmly disagrees with Wenger’s viewpoint.

West Ham chief Allardyce said: “I don’t agree with that at all because there’s already a massive influx of foreign youth coming into academies and taking up places and losing the opportunity for young British players.

“For me as an Englishman it’s a no no.

“I’m sure Arsene if he was working in France might have a similar opinion to me being a Frenchman working in France as an Englishman working in England.

“Protect your own. We very rarely do that in this country.

“We have to protect our own. We haven’t done it up to now. We have to do it somewhere along the line to try and get more British players through.

“If we open up the doors then the floodgates would open and very few British players would get the chance to come to a football club.”

  12. scottfromoz says:

Lee, that’s suggesting World class means a starting gig in a world 11.
    Is that THE deciding factor?
If so, Koscielny would be a chance, because he is a sensational player, and I can’t name many better than him.
Ramsey last year…yes….this year…no….hence my comment on consistency.
    Ozil….playing in his correct position….with consistency…yes.
Wath, since I must respond, and ladies, look away…..if you’d seen my toilet yesterday, you’d say it was more than a bug lol.
    Sorry Rico 🙂

  13. goonster says:

On the contrary bt am having a ball. Forget about iy. Never had so much air in my head. It feels exhilarating 😀 : how are you my man?

  14. goonster says:

Seriously scott I can’t eat now. Everything on my table right now reminds me of….blar. thanks a lot pal.

  15. goonster says:

Scoot I said he’s close too….not world class. Gee if bale is world class so rambo isnt?? Are u freaking kidding me?

  16. scottfromoz says:

Rambo just needs to show last seasons form for more than one season, Stan.
Kozzer….I have no doubt all there.
Look at last week…..a decent performance from our DM, and suddenly our back 4 look good.
Imagine we had a top DM for the last few years?

  17. goonster says:

Scott you re a man after my heart. Bale is just a lot of air. He’s not shit though just not world class. Santi is 😀 : oooooh santi carzolaaaaa oooh santi carzolaaaaa oooh santi carzolaaaaa.

  18. goonster says:

Hey Scott who do you think will win the cricket world cup? England is shit by the way. Axing thier captain before a huge tournament like that? They re in trouble. My heart says south Africa but my head says you bloody ausssies win triumph again. What’s with you guys being good in every damned sport?

  21. goonster says:

HahahaHahahahahaha omg that was cold. Lee you re hoot. I ll drink to that. Hahahahahahahah changing light bulbs. Christ in heaven so glad I went to the bathroom before reading that. Lord God lee you re something else.

  22. Adam says:

I see that Paul Scholes is totally outraged that our boys have shared their happiness with the fans through a pic. For a man who spent most of his career trying to injure people badly and assuming the role of a ginger prick with great aplomb I would sat that his comments give an unsavoury glimpse into his Neanderthal mind.

  23. goonster says:

Adam they re all just bitter. All the trophies both those misermiserable lot have won yet still jealousy of arsenal. First carragher now this turd faced bastard. I say they can all go to hell.

  24. Adam says:

Rico. So I understand. Apparently the Aussies got a bit of reverse swing late in the game and were difficult to get away. Another failure by Captain Morgan though.

  25. rockyrocastle07 says:

Rico your 11.41 – Is that the same Easter-Island-Statue headed fat fuck of a manager who keeps buying cheap African players then whinges that they have to go to the ACON? How many of the players he brought in over the Summer were English? I’d never get tired of kicking that bloke in the dick.

  26. rockyrocastle07 says:

Just read about Chiles! Best news I’ve heard this year (overtaking yesterdays best news that the Sun HADN’T stopped page 3!!

Chiles is an abomination of a man. Total Omnishambles. His atrocities towards football commentary have been going on for far too long. Glad Mark Poopants has got the gig. Always liked him on 5Live

I know, it just reappeared after I refreshed the site. Been out to lunch, I’m often out to lunch!!
Maybe that’s why it has ‘reappeared’ mysterouser and mystereouser!

  29. Micko says:

Arsene, a romancer, sounds about right to me !

Scott and his pebble dashing tales eh !

Thank Gawd it’s Friday, afternoon all.

  30. allezkev says:

Arsene doing Diamond Club Q&A now has just said that Paulista deal virtually done, then tried to backtrack after giving too much away

    On Twitter from yesterday.

  31. allezkev says:

The long-serving Frenchman held a supporters’ Q&A meeting on Thursday night and reliable Arsenal shareholder, Darren Epstein, tweeted that Wenger claimed a deal for Gabriel was near to completion.

  32. rico says:

Is he right for us though? Looks a bit mean but what about the permit?

Agree re the listening to the players, not that he should need to…..

  33. Joe says:

Got to love the mirrors use of the word forced I can just see senior Arsenal players backing Wenger against the dressing room wall.

  34. Joe says:

Rico with the permit system changing in the summer which will allow anyone who costing more than £10m a work permit.
So if Arsenal agree to pay more than £10m for Paulista and the FA don’t give him a work permit which they would have to in 5 months it would show the FA for the di*k heads they are.

  35. Micko says:

Can see it coming a mile off, Arsene putting in a cheeky bid of 9.9 mill in the summer…”ere, we were very close to signing him” lol.

  36. Joe says:

FA administer the work permit system for football players on behalf the British government and it’s changing sometime in the summer.
So if a player costs £10m+ they will get a work permit that’s what makes me think 🙂 we won’t have any problems with a work permit for paulista. Fingers crossed lol…

  37. Micko says:

rico, don’t know about you but i’m in desperate need of some uppers after my daily dose of EE, makes me realise how lucky I am to have The Arsenal.

  38. Micko says:

C’mon Cambridge, the BBC will put anyone on the box these days it seems !!

Joe, see you’ve grown an extra eye over night ! Nothing worse than tunnel vision.

  39. Micko says:

That’s a bit spooky rico, what was I telling you about the time difference, it’s on over here on a Friday, cancel your session, your alright honest !

  40. Micko says:

Gotta love Fellaini, has anyone else heard “the bigger the hair the closer to God you are” rumours going around at the moment !

  41. Micko says:

Nite rico, Luke Chadwick coming on for the last 15 for Cambridge, he’d give Paulista a good run for his money !

  42. Micko says:

Man of the match for Cambridge tonight shares a house with 4 of his team-mates, next stop Old Trafford, that’s the magic of the FA Cup, nite Gooners.

  43. allezkev says:

Only 9 days to go, and yet another transfer window will close…

What will all those massive toss pots on NewsNow do????

Write endless shit about who Arsenal missed out on this January.

Write endless shit about who Arsenal are going to sign in the summer.

Write endless shit about how Arsenal missed out on Ronaldo, Messi, Darren Bent, Michael Jordan, Kevin Pietersen, Doris Stokes, Charlie Chester, blah blah fcukin blah.

Write endless shit about endless shit.

    Zzzzzz

    Night All
    Night Rico.
    Night Mick, you old hoot…

  44. scottfromoz says:

    Morning all.
Kev, just as bad as the idiot I read today who named a 17 year old potential superstar, adding if Wenger doesn’t sign him, he doesn’t want to read a comment in a few years saying we nearly got the kid.
Of course, this same dickhead complained a few days ago about us signing the polish lad.
Give someone a keyboard, and suddenly, they know it all.

  45. Joe says:

Morning Scott, got to love the dickhead who argues out of both sides of his mouth saying one thing one day then another the next as long as he can have ago against he’s pet pive.
But what gets me the most is the fact that he thinks we are to stupid to know this.

  46. Wavy says:

It’s a shame that manure’s world is now so shitty!! Hahahahahahah!
I’ve waited a long time for the mighty to fall and they have, big time. My only regret, they will beat Cambridge at home and progress like nothing has really happened! So maybe the mighty have not fallen as far as I thought. Shame!
Reminder. Go and cast a few more anti Marc’s spells…….
