No chance Arsene! Tricky fixture up today….

Morning all.

Arsene Wenger is reported to have jumped into the race to sign Loic Remy. Somehow I am not sure this would be true as if it’s between us and Chelsea and the player wants big bucks each week, there’s only going to be one winner. In any case, Wenger has said:

If we buy somebody, somebody will go because we have too many players. We have too many strikers.

There are just two days left in this transfer window to sign three players and I just can’t see it happening. Maybe Wenger will stun us all….

Match day today and a tricky trip to Leicester. Well, it shouldn’t be a tricky trip should it, fixtures like these should be a forgone conclusion but as we saw yesterday, both Manchester sides stumbled against ‘lesser’ sides and dropped points that one would have expected them to win, well City certainly.

Nothing is guaranteed in this game, especially when a side is lacking in a few positions and players are expected to perform miracles in an unfamiliar role but maybe that will change today. Perhaps Arsene Wenger will have watched Leicester in action and he’s ready to exploit any weakness they might have and nullify any strengths which offer a threat and he may just play with pace, with Ozil in the middle pulling the strings…

Ok, let’s just hope the boys dig in deep and get a victory…

Head-to-head

  • Arsene Wenger has never lost a Premier League game against Leicester. However, he was in charge when the Gunners exited in the FA Cup fourth round in 2000 after a penalty shoot-out defeat to the Foxes.
  • Leicester have won just one of 16 Premier League games against Arsenal (W1, D5, L10). Their sole victory was 2-1 at Filbert Street on 23 November 1994.
  • Arsenal’s last match against Leicester was their 38th and final game of the 2003-04 league season, when the Gunners’ “Invincibles” ended the campaign unbeaten.

That invincible year was a long time ago wasn’t it and boy couldn’t we brag about the quality in our side back then. They really were a joy to watch. Pace, strength, passion, clinical and ruthless in front of goal so often.

A bit like today’s side really. Seriously, I mean that. We have some super players in our squad, including a few world class ones too who other managers would love to be selecting each week but they are ours and if Arsene Wenger can get the best out of all of them, we could achieve many things this season. Yes we have a few duffers as well but if Arsene Wenger can get three key players before 11pm tomorrow night, those duffers will remain squad players and even back in 2003/04, we had a few of those in our squad.

I’m not going to guess who will start today, I’ll leave that to the manager.

None of our injured return for this fixture, although Arteta, Gibbs and Ospina are not far away from doing so. Aaron Ramsey is back though after missing out in midweek.

Games like this are there to be won, but we’ll have to work hard and play well to do so…

COYRRG’s….

Have a good day all.

  1. Thorough says:

If there are still people supporting Wenger then they need their heads checked just like the old senile sickman. Akbs is not descriptive, these people should be called ISPs cos that’s exactly what they are – Incredibly Stupid People.

  2. Thorough says:

I give up, just as Wenger who have up on competing. His testesterone has run dry, my own patience has ran out.

  3. Wavy says:

Remy. We have made a bid but we haven’t matched the chavs…..yet! And do you know, we won’t!
“We tried our best but we just can’t compete with the rich clubs.”
So Remy to the chavs then!?

  4. rico says:

Not at all Thorough, are you calling someone on here stupid? If so, you will g in the bin, HH doesn’t work that way.

  5. rico says:

Wavy, if AW wanted Remy, he’s had all bleedin summer to get him so why leave it so late? If this rumour is true, no doubt we’ll hear ‘ I treid but couldn’t get it done’..

An absolute joke if true… Not that i’m laughing…

  6. southyorkshiregunner says:

    Morning all.

I hate it when people replicate the with ‘d’.

In Yorkshire we call them ‘de-da’s’.

Remy is a strange one. He’s been up for grabs all the transfer window yet we haven’t taken him? And if he goes Podolski or Campbell goes? Again another strange one.
Podolski is a 100 cap international with world cup winners Germany and Campbell is also an international – albeit with Costa Rica…. Yet Sanogo is a non-international and shit and in my humble opinion no better that Akpom, if he is even that good at all.

I am all for good players joining, but at the expensive of similar players? It just doesn’t stack up.

Remy is no better than Podolski or possibly Campbell.

Remy is a lot better than Sanogo.

If you want Remy – fuck Sanogo off to Sheffield Wednesday or Derby or Forest on loan. Don’t go depleting the squad further.

  7. George says:

Wavy, I have to agree with you. Remy is chav bound.

If we keep what we have , I will be happy. I am aware all of us agree we are short 3/4 players.
Its easy to blame Wenger, but I stand by my assumption the board are just as guilty if not more when it comes to the transfer policy.

If we really wanted the greek Centre half
Manolas, we would have signed him instead of #$%#$% about. This is where I don’t blme wenger but “soccer executives ” from the USA. What do they know about being a fan of a club with a rich 128 yr history?

At least Wenger, when he goes and he will one day, leave us with a nice stadium and some good memories, even if the best are behind him and have been for some time.

Look at the state of Manure… REd nose left them in a pile. I’m hoping le prof doesn’t do that to us…

BTW, I hate the Daily mail. How can they compare us to that sh1te in Salford.

  8. southyorkshiregunner says:

This is the frustration that is Arsene Wenger.

I cam understand the ‘sum of all parts’ ethos and the ‘collective’ nature of his teams, but when we want a 0-0 to become a 1-0 you need that something extra.

  9. Scott From Oz says:

    Thorough, what a tool.
    No initials.
    No capital letters.
    Just a tool.
    Morning everyone else.
Hope this guy has a shocker.

  10. BrainwashedKev says:

Ospina should hopefully be fit in time for the Southampton League Cup tie…

That should be an interesting game, not least as it will give Arsenal fans an opportunity to see what future players we could be buying from the Saints…

    Ward-Prowse perhaps?

  11. rico says:

Syg, me too, I guess some people think they are texting, or something similar…

AW clearly sees something in Sanogo, I’d agree that Campbell appears to be the much more composed player and Remy is better than both..

I can’t see the story being true really, not when he could have been signed ages ago unless of course, he really wasn’t going to sign a striker but the injury to Giroud has forced his hand…

  12. Scott From Oz says:

TW is a period we all detest.
Unfortunately, Arsene seems to hate it more than most šŸ™‚
Still, let’s hope he surprises the hell out of us all.

  13. southyorkshiregunner says:

    Morning Emma, George

I don’t know much about Ornstein put from reading between the lines he is nothing more than a ‘no your place’ footstamping bitch … he got dead humpy the other day when someone (an Arsenal fan probably) faked his account. A right wanker.

  14. George says:

Sanogo would be a good player to play where physical presence is required, and after 60 minutes if he is still aiming at the floodlights , replace with Lucas Poldolski as a no9.

He is very raw and has a bit of SYG favourite Gervinho about him. He can look good and then look garbage in the same game.

Scott, I can’t see the boss pulling out a transfer of note. We will get someone in , but I fear we will lose more than welcome more.

  15. southyorkshiregunner says:

I see nothing at all in Sanogo although Wenger is compares his rawness and physique to that of Adebayor.
Maybe it will work out, but I doubt it.
He is no better than Akpom or Afobe, the latter of whom will never make the grade at Arsenal.
    Wenger loves his ‘pets’.

  16. rico says:

Scott, as do I re Sanogo and I know we are in the minority. But if he could get his feet and brain working together, we might just see a decent footballer..

  17. Thorough says:

Děda, tool, all titles for me? I must be stepping on toes. Never mind English is not a first language for some people, I understand some people don’t appreciate that. Rico said no name-calling or vulgarity, so I’ll shush it and let the wise ones keep on running amok.

  18. rico says:

Captain Pizza or Boris as you are calling yourself this morning, it’s not happing so go and play somewhere else!

  19. rico says:

Thorough, I realised English isn’t your first language, but seem to have mastered some of the name calling words. Not here eh, there’s a good chap!

You want Wenger gone, that’s fine, but don’t knock those who aren’t of the same opinion…

  20. George says:

Seeing as we have about 30 midfielders lol , how about we play with a 4-6 formation until le quif is back?

Debuchy mert kos monreal , then ox, rosicky ozil jw, Cazorla.and Sanchez

We can have all 6 bombing fwd at the same time gung ho…

    Good mornin all….

    tick tock transfer clock……

Diaby is like a new signing.

  21. goonster says:

Morning rico and all…it just feels like armagedon right now. How on earth do we have too many players??? Lord God help me. Is arsene including the likes of Ryo le coq etc as part of the “too many players” God give me strength. I need a shock of tequila this morning or I ll loose it.

  22. tsgh says:

    Morning all…

Good to be back on HH…

Thanks to Rico and Wath and of course my official broker… you know where/who you are… šŸ˜‰

    Leicester here I come…

  23. Scott From Oz says:

    No worries, Rico….
Two things stand out with Yaya for me.
One….he is always a handful for the opposition defenders….he gives them hell.
Two….he manages to get himself into goal scoring position regularly.
No doubt, he has failed to citalise on that, but if he ever finds his scoring boots, he could make a player.
Send him on loan, and let him find them elsewhere though.
Thorough, nobody on here spouts off that Wenger never makes a mistake….in fact, more the opposite, so why come on here like that?
Show some respect, and it will be reciprocated.

  24. rico says:

Morning goonster, I think AW was referring to strikers only, but we still have a few players who really shouldn’t be at the club..

    No probs Ts..

  25. southyorkshiregunner says:

We are drastically short up top Emma.
Giroud for as much flack as he got, was a team player. He is also a French international who was good for 20 goals a season.
    Sanchez was/is a different option.

  26. rico says:

Agree again Scott, let him find his form somewhere else. If it doesn’t work out or he can’t stay fit, get shot of him next summer…

  27. goonster says:

Howdy bt…I woke up a sad man this morning. Really can’t take much more of this transfer window. So glad it closes today.

  28. Scott From Oz says:

Girlies injury is just a game changer.
Now, we can not settle for a back up, we basically need a replacement.

  29. Luznic says:

Lovely post Rico, I am waiting for Wenger to tell us he searched but couldn’t find any top top quality player, Madrid got Rodriguez, Barca got Suarez, Man utd got Di Maria, Bayern got Lewandoski, Dortmund got immobile, Chelsea well…..they got Costa…….where is Wenger shopping? he definitely shouldn’t come up with that excuse tomorrow because its all BS

  30. tsgh says:

    Hey Syg…
Your twin brother is so happy Song has landed in whu.lol.
Scott buddy… How can you rate Yaya? šŸ˜›

  31. southyorkshiregunner says:

I don’t have any twin brother Ginge.
A half brother on my mam’s side who married an fckng three ton ogre with the head the size of a water melon and one on my dad’s side who has the mannerism’s of Quentin Tarantino …

Hope you make your connection at St. Pancras

  32. Canadian Gooner says:

Good Morning to The Lady of the House and all fellow Gooners in residence.

Rico – Interesting article, but I doubt we will get three in before the deadline. However, I’m hoping we can/will get two in, a CB and a DM.

Arsene’s/Arsenal’s interest in Loic Remy strikes me (no pun intended) as an agent’s ploy to get a better contract from Chelsea for his client. Maybe it will become clear after Monday.

Thorough – I’m not exactly sure what point(s) you’re trying to make, but I’m sure we’ll hear more from you.

  33. southyorkshiregunner says:

George – I remember that there was hell on at the end of the game…. as great as it was….

  34. Canadian Gooner says:

Rico – I seem to have acquired a new avatar. What happened to my old square raspberry? I got attached to that.

  35. tsgh says:

Luznic,Emma we are in for Cerci… He was out of Torino squad last night.i think it will unfortunately end like Di Natali last year…Torino want a replacement first.
JC preferred Milan otherwise it would have been.
On cdm we are looking Chile ways… šŸ˜‰

  36. Micko says:

    Hi rico,
Like I said before Arsene done all his panic buying in June, not sure we’ll even have a last minute trolley dash to look forward to tomorrow !!! But I bloody hope so.

Good to see you back tsgh, there were lots of conspiracy theories flying around lol.

  37. Canadian Gooner says:

If you haven’t seen it yet, I can recommend yesterday’s ManUre game as a cure for insomnia. It definitely put me to sleep.

LvG has to pull more than a few rabbits out of the hat to survive past Christmas.

    Ginge – Welcome back!

  38. tsgh says:

    bugger,Ath in for Alessio too…
He will be 2nd choice there whilst with us 3rd or 4th if Og12 is fit he might think…

  39. rico says:

    Thanks Luznic, Ts.

Morning Cg, I don’t think we will either, I just hope we can…

Will be interesting to see who starts up front today, if no Campbell or Sanogo, one surely has to be off either for good or on loan.

Same with Podolski, if he isn’t in the squad, he’d a gonner imo…

  40. Luznic says:

howdy Ginge Charle really missed you here, who is cerci? don’t know much about him though, I think Wenger wants to get Carvalho so badly and I think he will and maybe a half decent striker but someone tell him to stop making that top top quality comment its irritating me already

  41. Joaquim Moreira says:

    Fresh news:
Campbell wants to leave Arsenal. Probably he goes to Benfica (80%)
Real Madrid wants Chicharito. Manager Ancelotti and President Fiorentino Perz said Falcao wasn’t the first priority for be na alternative to Benzema. thei prefer Chicharito.

  42. tsgh says:

Charle-cerci supplied Immobile’s goals last season.he is not a proper poacher but at Fiorentina he and Jovetic,Toni, formed solid partnerships.
In my view Carvalho and Falcao will not happen because we won’t pay the 3rd party ownership deals…
BES for William and Doyen Sports for falco.

  43. Canadian Gooner says:

Ginge – Have you generated any odds/predictions/statistics on you sinning and binning again before the end of the season?

  44. Joaquim Moreira says:

    Richards (M.City) – sunderland 80%
    Diarra – QPR (90%)
    Mitrouglou (Fulham) – Olympiakos – 100%
    Falcao (Monaco) – M.City – 60%

  45. Luznic says:

we need a poacher ginge not a supplier we won’t get Cerci then…….the same Doyen that owned Marcos Rojo, I still say Wenger is going all in for Carvalho just a feeling nothing to back it up

  46. Canadian Gooner says:

Ginge – I thought Banco Espirito Santo were nearly insolvent and would be glad of some new funds from Arsenal. The club have had dealings with them in the past as they were a member of the consortium of banks that funded the construction of the Emirates Stadium.

  47. Canadian Gooner says:

Ginge – Gematria and statistics are all numbers, but from opposite ends of the spectrum. How do you rationalize the dichotomy? What’s next, a crystal ball, phrenology, the Tarot, …?

If it is reading the entrails of sacrificial animals that will not go down well with The Lady of the House.

  48. tsgh says:

Indeed Cg,BES is now Novo Banco…they say old story of rebranding… šŸ˜‰
lol Cg,you are well read…i must admit I might need to wiki phrenology later. šŸ™‚
I am not a betting man unfortunately.i am too tight. Lol
well the dichotomy is what Bt is trying to refer to.. šŸ˜‰ we will win today Bt. Lol

  49. Wavy says:

Interestingly, when Wenger was asked about strikers on Friday, he reeled of all the usual suspects, Pod, Campbell, Walcott, etc etc and then added as an afterthought ‘ and a couple of others,’ Clearly he has no interest in either Akpom or Afobe, in that he couldn’t even remember their names!
Not a lot of hope there then for their futures. I thought it rather insulting!
He’s done buying Remy was just a scape goat, nothing serious and was never going to buy him, but he needed and excuse so he can say, “we tried and tried…………so we go with what we’ve got”
As said yesterday, it’s the same old, same old!
Stack my vitals he takes us all for complete imbeciles and dunderheads! Like Basiil Fawlty and the Germans re the war….”I think I got away with it!” I mean, who. Does he think he’s trying to kid??
    Frustrated rant over.

2-1 to us today, but another poor showing from us and more complaints about tactics, squad, starting eleven and philosophy!
    Hey ho……

  50. George says:

i reckmon 2-1 and a crap performance too Wavy. Would love to be roved wrong and see us play well ad add in the TW.

  51. George says:

Im going for a 2-1 , concede from a set piece like BT says and an own goal and a mertesacker scuffed shot from a corner at 2nd attempt

  52. George says:

Also think we will finish game with 10 men

If only there was a bookies in Dubai, I’d lump a tenner on that

  53. Canadian Gooner says:

George – You can lay a bet online. Do Dubai block those type of websites or do you get a visit from the religious police?

  54. Joywedsjeff says:

    Hi all…
Stan is at the Game today. He appeared before we sold little boy, was present just before we signed Ozil. Who are we selling /buying Tomorrow

  55. agirlagunner says:

Boo!!! šŸ™‚ Still waiting for our mega signing… Not fun being an AFC supporter right now. šŸ˜•

    Hello, all!

  56. rico says:

    Afternoon all..

Stan in town, hope he’s brought his big stick with him and waves it at Wenger. Whilst telling him to sort our squad out of course..!

Hang on, there goes a flying pig….

  57. frednerk says:

Prehaps stan has been reading the papers and wants to see all these great strikers we have to fill in for The Quiff

  58. goonster says:

Hahahahahah can we all laugh at the spuds. They made a double substitution and 30 seconds later concedes a cracking goal. Hahahahahahahahahahahahah.

  59. Nashua gunner says:

Good Afternoon Rico and All. Good read and I like this ‘…nothing is guaranteed in this game especially when a side is lacking’ bit. All hands on deck.

If nothing is announce at the end of his t/w, I’ll be disappointed, once again.

  60. Gunnerdna says:

Team in full: Szczesny, Debuchy, Koscielny, Mertesacker, Monreal, Ramsey, Flamini, Cazorla, Ozil, Alexis, Sanogo.
Substitutes: Martinez, Chambers, Rosicky, Wilshere, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Campbell, Podolski.

  61. goonster says:

Dna are you impressed b with raheem sterling or what?? What. Player. I know rico can’t stand the scouse scums but dear me they look impressive this season also.

  62. goonster says:

Watching alberto moreno rip the scummers apart the question now arises why does our new players need time to adapt to the epl but others just take to it like fish in water i.e costa moreno et al.

  63. rico says:

Moreno’s goal was pretty darn special wasn’t it. Why didn’t someone stop him….

    Ring any bells??? šŸ™

  64. Gunnerdna says:

Ramsey with a good pass to Sanchez, Sanchez to Ozil, Ozil with a beautiful pass to Sanogo, ball roll out of play on the far side, fuck back kick. Lol

  65. rico says:

goonster, I suggested the other day that the dippers will be up there. Rogers had made solid signings this summer, not all huge names but if they graft, they really could be in with a chance to win something. Like you, I think Sterling is a good little player, quick too….

  66. AndrewH says:

Afternoon all, back from hols. Can’t quite get my head round AW letting TV go without having a replacement already signed up. Stupid? Is, if he doesn’t get one tomorrow. Thought 3 was short but 2 established CB’s!!

Sanago has a last chance, if it doesn’t work today, surely Wenger cant go on saying we have 10 strikers. We have TWO target men, one out for months and the other? Lets hope he scores a couple but not betting my mortgage on it.

  67. rico says:

    Good time Andrew?

Some of what AW is doing is crazy isn’t it…

A deja vu moment, or a flash back to the last few summers…..

  68. AndrewH says:

Yes thanks rico, managed to catch both games although touch and go as first pub couldn’t get SS5 and we were running back half mile to another!

  69. AndrewH says:

rico, this was the summer that AW signed a contract and changed šŸ˜‰
But now, he’s driving me mad again and again and again every time I hear him. I shouldn’t be getting so angry, but will be if we lose today!

  70. rico says:

I know Andrew, don’t I feel a twit for thinking anything would change…

Mind you, we signed Alexis and Chambers… šŸ™‚

  71. Gunnerdna says:

This team is better than how they look at the moment, it’s the fucked up 4-1-4-1 bs, I thought it would be a team built to the strength of Ozil & Sanchez, but it’s the opposite.

  72. potter says:

Getting caught on the break , and yes he is a striker that needs to play off a big man. He’s not a lone one.

  73. AndrewH says:

Well either AW believes Sanago can win us the league, or we have no ambition and will be happy to fight for fourth place. Which is it?

  74. rico says:

Ok, I concede. Sanogo is shite!

Iv’e seen enough of him now, send him on loan or just get rid! Get Campbell on and OC and let’s get at them….

Santi and Mesut are passengers in this game….

  75. AndrewH says:

It’s so bloody clear, to everyone except Wenger and was it Tai on here. What are we doing with him up front till January. This is beyond a joke. So we waste a sub taking him off, lose another sub losing one of out two CBs in the club. Leaves one left.

  76. potter says:

Ozil and Santi are indeed passengers because there is no movement in front of them. Sanogo has had his cameo now give someone else a chance. Anyone.

  77. rico says:

Andrew, I have to admit that I too thought there was a striker in Sanogo somewhere, but I’ve seen enough now….

  78. tsgh says:

    Hey Ng…
How are you? Your boy Costa looks good?
Hmm,for the first time since yanited game 3 years ago our rhs looks very vulnerable imo..
No cover in front of Rb with Sanchez operating on his preferred lhs

  79. Wavy says:

Sanogo is a very large unit. It is not surprising that there is such a time delay between his eyes, brain and much later his feet. I’d say he is an uncoordinated lump of flesh I’ve seen since I was at primary school watching the inevitable fat boy blundering about the playground chasing after a ball!
GET A STRIKER WHO IS ALSO A FOOTBALLER, NOT A LUMP OF LARD!

  80. Joaquim Moreira says:

we are very open between the defenders and the midfield.
There are many players doing the same.
Another striker (Podolsky ?) and replace Cazorla (he is tired)
Kos wasn’t fit when came in. A mistake and a goal.

  81. Luznic says:

right here its Jermaine Jenas and Andy Townsend analysing d match makes me wonder why a tiny totts is brought in to analyse Almighty Arsenal and Townsend well he is just always Townsend

  82. rico says:

Wenger better have a better striker deal up his sleeve than Remy, otherwise he’s truly goofed by not signing him earlier this summer….

  83. Gunnerdna says:

Potter, for better balance its should be Ozil or Santi, but the manage believe that dominating possession will win the league. I don’t know what gave him the indication that 4-1-4-1 will work, it must be to cover MA/MF deficiencies or to play certain players. Ramsey is better in a box to box, not this chasing up & down bs.

  84. Luznic says:

Rico – give anyone a chance?? be careful what you wish for Wenger might bring back Francis Jeffers…….lol

  85. Vonnie says:

Wonder what Stan the Man makes of our star striker Sanogo! Surely the joke is over now and we’ll see Poldi or Campbell for the second half, although I wouldn’t bet on it. Arsene doesn’t change, does he.

  86. scottfromoz says:

Rico, forget goofing, he will be hung, drawn and quartered if he doesn’t bring one In, and rightly so.

  87. Wavy says:

Sorry Scott. I just feel I’m being taken for a fool by Wenger and his stubborness! I’ve got to vent my spleen on somebody. Sanogo is just not good enough and we all know it, so why does the manager persist with this blatant stupidity ?
    Time to get a grip!

  88. rico says:

Luznic, how many chances?? He shows no sign of being composed on the ball, let alone in front of goal. And we are not playing Chelsea, City or the Dippers…

  89. rockyrocastle07 says:

If its fine to heap superlatives upon players, it must also be able to work both ways. No-one said they want to rape and pillage him family…. Just saying he’s shit. Perfectly fine.

  90. scottfromoz says:

    Why blame the kid?
    He’s out there trying.
If he was crap AND bludging fine, but he puts in so deserves a lot more respect than some give him.

  91. rockyrocastle07 says:

Didn’t Wenger say before the Everton game something about making us more skilful in midfield? Really?? When is that happening then?

  92. Luznic says:

any way Rico I would say something now but it would sound like insulting Sanogo, Wavy called him a lump and that’s just what he is, simple, don’t kill the boy young send him on loan save his career but Wenger is stubborn what do we know

  93. rico says:

I don’t blame Sanogo, I blame the guy who thinks he’s good enough to play up front for the club we all love….

  94. rico says:

Luznic, the only rule is not to be rude to fellow bloggers… Players don’t count, nor does the manager.. šŸ˜‰

  95. scottfromoz says:

    That’s my point, Rico.
Too easy and too obvious to attack the kid.
He didn’t put us in this position.

  96. rockyrocastle07 says:

He’s an adult Scott. He can take the criticism. Especially on here where he won’t see or hear it. I

  97. agirlagunner says:

BT, I was trying to be kind. šŸ˜› I miss Giroud even more right now. šŸ˜³

Scott, he’s paid to do a job; and if he’s not doing it, criticism is fair. Squawka stats say: In 10 Premier League appearances for Arsenal, Yaya Sanogo has managed just 3 shots on target, converting 0% of his chances. He is simply not good enough to lead the line right now.

  98. rico says:

Scott, the slating of Yaya is human instinct.. It’s not his fault he’s been thrown into the mix but all the time he’s playing like he is, he’ll always be an easy target…

Don’t forget Mesut is getting stick too and he’s a world class player…

  99. Gunnerdna says:

We are watching the slow death of the AW era, the guy is stale and outdated, 1 man against reality.

  100. rico says:

I disagree Gdna, we are watching the demise of Arsenal FC, and the day the shareholders sold out to the Yank is the day it all begun…

If Usmanov took us over tonight, tomorrow at 11pm, we’d have made the right signings imo….

  101. STV says:

What a disgrace šŸ™ šŸ™ Wenger persisted with Sanogo and killed the match šŸ™ Whats his problem with Podolski FFS I hate him now.

  102. AndrewH says:

Only good news, we can’t fail to buy what we need now. So Blatantly obvious to us all beforehand, even Wenger can’t fail to see it after that.

  103. Bob john says:

If there isn’t major strengthening tomorrow then the man should go. No arguments. Yet more injuries today. Down to one CB. ONE FFs!!! You actually wonder if there is anyone in a position of power who actually cares at all. It was one of the hardest decisions of my life to give up my ST last year but boy am I glad I’m not putting any more of my hard-earned into the club.

  104. Gunnerdna says:

Rico, its all opinion. But i will accept that is not AW fault until he walks away, even Fat Sam could do better with this team, all left of AW is the suite & tie, he is done. Can’t wait for him to blame the CL game, pitch & the referee for this performance. The guy is underachieving massively with our resources.

  105. AndrewH says:

Win the cup final, Wenger new contract, no chance of competing in any competition for next year. He had us fooled that the CB and DMF was coming. But since we lost Giroud he has just been delusional. Is he all there?

  106. Luznic says:

Rico I am saving my energy will be needing it from tonight till 11pm tomorrow, I might stop bothering if this man called Wenger don’t buy anyone, if he buys one I will only read the match reports if he buys 2 I will watch but if he buys 3 then I am back doing everything about the Arsenal, I am tired this man just doesn’t learn he believe he is a superhero, let Sanogo go

  107. goonster says:

Scotty oz you see why I stop supporting him a long time ago. Seriously like ak said he should have left after the fa cup win. It’s so glaring his head is not in it anymore. Sanchez ll be wondering why he left barca now. God help us.

  108. Bob john says:

    Post match interview bingo:
    We are in the market
If you can find me players better than we already have
We have a big squad already
    Top Top quality
Physically we were a bit short
    Hand break on
I can’t give you any names
We are not close to signing anyone
The market is not moving at the moment
We have lots of centre-backs – Monreal can play there. We have Hayden and Steve Bould has re-registered!

  109. Gunnerdna says:

We also need a CB because Per should only be used in certain game, he is fast becoming a liability, captain/vice captain average as fuck.

  110. rico says:

Gdna, don’t get me wrong, AW could do a lot more with who we have, but if Usmanov took us over, we’d have a proper squad and he wouldn’t hang around waiting for AW to get it right…..

  111. STV says:

for me our worst strikers available are Ganogo and Giroud and thry play 90% of time .. Campbell and Podolski better.

  112. Wavy says:

That was a truly shocking display of the beautiful game. Absolutely not one spark of magic. We looked like a team of journeymen pros, fit only for the lower reaches of the EPL never in the next twelve months a top 4 side. We are far far from it!
He’s the boss he takes the blame!
Act for fsake! Do something! Even Ham
Et was more decisive the Arsedream!

  113. Gunnerdna says:

I’m know i’m gonna be slaughtered but i’m not sad about OG12 injury, he is not good enough either, go and offer 40 mil for Falcoa or Cavani and show some ambition.

  114. rico says:

Stv, had Giroud played, I would bet we’d have been a lot better.

He’s a grafter, and gets involved and imo, Alexis will only benefit from a player like him..

Campbell has to be off imo..

  115. STV says:

After countless of such costly displays where he blanks spectacularly wasting team’s play and other strikers place giving team a fuck all then Sa no goal will score a couple and then Wenger ll say “He proved you all wrong I always knew .. ” bullshit.. Better ditch him already one day left to do that..

  116. rico says:

šŸ™‚ Gdna, we need Giroud and one of the two you name. That will give us different options. The problem is who backs them up…

  117. Joaquim Moreira says:

Podolsky alone as a striker… since last year we know the answer.
    Ramsey was very poor.
After the replaces the game end for us. Were later and wrong..
what do we want with this team and specially, in this way of playing?
Against Liverpool or Chelsea, with this way on the pitch, we suffer 5 or 6 goals like last year. With faster, tecnic and good forwards will be collapse. Play the same way, whether against Leicester, Besicktas or Bayern is to condemn in advance to failure.
For me there are some players in, relatively cheap, the English league that covered our defects. And probably would not be in the tens of millions.

  118. Nickie says:

don’t think Podolski moved for the 10-12 minutes he was on for. He is a lazy sod, I don’t care if it’s his first game back, he could at least make some runs/movement. I’d rather he go than Campbell

  119. STV says:

All average strikers rico with Sanogo championship qty at best. We need to loan him if we are t play him. It’s near impossible to win league with them

  120. AndrewH says:

Would Giroud be in Chelsea team? Man City team? Man Utd team?
Would Sanago get in Chelsea team? Man City team? Man Utd team?

  121. Bob john says:

Cheers Rocky. Forgot that one. And “We played against a good Leicester team who did fight for every ball”

  122. goonster says:

Lee please don’t remind me he’s here for another 3 years
Lord God almighty. Why is lord why…3 games into the season and we are already 4 points behind the leaders and haven’t faced any title contender yet. Oh maureen ll fuck us up again this year. He ll humiliate us all over again. Somebody do something I can’t take 6.3 5.1 6.0 again this season.

  123. STV says:

Podolski is a good player he moved but did’nt get enuff ball Leicester played better during last 10 mins. Why people are so quick to bash Podolski when he’s not getting half the chance as Giroud. He is not an aswer for striking problem though

  124. rockyrocastle07 says:

Not quite Rico. But nor did he come out and say they should have won as they were the better team (which they clearly were). Also basically said that stats don’t mean shit. Which is also spot on.

  125. rockyrocastle07 says:

I still can’t believe we could rarely get through a defence that consisted of Wes Morgan and Richie De Lat. Unforgivable and unacceptable.

  126. Gunnerdna says:

Rico, no team will win the PL with OG12/Sanogo, MA/MF & BFG as regular starters, its impossible. Unless there is a formula to operate any thing in real life without a foundation.

  127. rico says:

Rocky – he is spot on and that’s just why I hate stats.

There are no stats to support the fact that we were absolutely awful….

  128. STV says:

Podolski past his prime Giroud average an never be a top striker Cambell unproven and Sanogo a complete waste of space..

Wenger : ” Success of a team is not dependent on one player you buy rather the team”and “We have unbelievable no. of strikers”.. Why is he lying why people who love the club suffer like this.. Wenger could turn this club in to world beaters if he wanted to instead he is chronically keeping arsenal weak just enough to get 4 th every year.

  129. southyorkshiregunner says:

I said it last year and I’ll say it again.

    https://twitter.com/yorkshiregunner/status/506123112933777408

    We didn’t lose. That’s 13 unbeaten.
The other plus is that Sanogo played shit. If he’d have scored Wenger would have been unbearable and the next 17 hours shit.

At least there’s a problem we hope can be sorted by deadline.

As Neil Lennon said. “Arsenal should buy Falcao and make a statement…..”

  130. Joaquim Moreira says:

No, Podolsky must play with a central forward.
We have players doing the same in the midfield, all of them prefer play in the center then in the wings and the consequence is in a small square meters, we have more players then wemust have. And it’s not a matter of quick moves because players will have the tendency move to their preferred positions.
Our football does not flow and it becomes easier to defend and catch us on the counterattack and take advantage of our mistakes.
For example, Rosicky is a different player and the other in three straight games, stressful, the midfield was almost the same.

  131. AndrewH says:

“We are Open. But every time a team doesn’t win a game the answer is not to go out and buy someone”

  132. Micko says:

    Evening all,
I prefer to look at the positives, Leicester a massive club that shouldn’t be under estimated, point gained, won’t have to play them again until next February thank fcuk.

  133. rockyrocastle07 says:

Ramsey always gives miserable sounding interviews anyway! Never liker Neil Lennon, but he speaks a lot of sense as well.

  134. Sukky says:

You guys want Wenger to sign 3 players?be careful what you wsh for.He may decide to sign Welbeck,Fred and Evans.Bang!there you go,you got your 3signings.lol

  135. Micko says:

rico 4.51, about bloody time !

Haha, we were a bit jaded from the Betiskas game, never saw that one coming !

  136. Sukky says:

And ā€ Ģ„ђĘŗ big question,WHY IS ROSICKY NOT PLAYING?Ramsey was a shit since ā€ Ģ„ђĘŗ beginning of ā€ Ģ„ђĘŗ season(but his goals won’t make you see that?),wilshere was also shit but average on wesday, carzola and ozil(worldcup stress) were below average and you got rosicky sitting on ā€ Ģ„ђĘŗ beach?Wenger is a big joke.

  137. Gunnerdna says:

AW having problems finding the right players with 100 mil in the bank, lord god you feel our pain, this guy is mental.

  138. Wenger's lovely coat says:

Don’t bash Wenger. He is by far our greatest fortune. We won’t go anywhere without him. Just see Man U without Ferguson.

  139. Sukky says:

Is it only thinking this way?Signing players won’t take away ā€ Ģ„ђĘŗ problem we are having. If we sign CR7 and messi today,we won’t win ā€ Ģ„ђĘŗ league because arsene Wenger will play them until they burn out.Manager is ā€ Ģ„ђĘŗ problem,Wenger is our problem.Tactically stupid, rotationally stupid and technically stupid.lol.Wenger is old at least his ways are.

  140. frednerk says:

Just a thought..if we had that really shi#e player who plays for the chavs..Would we have won to-day.

  141. Lewis says:

WHY NOT GIVE CHUBA AKPOM A CHANCE ARSENE YOU INFURIATING C**T. Sanogoal is not the answer, maybe one day he will be but at the moment he is not so why persist?!!! What’s the point in taking Campbell back and not playing him?!!! He would be a threat on the left. Much more than Ozil or santi. The fact is he has totally lost it!!!

  142. frednerk says:

    Anyway..rest assured..after 3 months we are now officially ………………. VERY ACTIVE…………………..

  143. tsgh says:

the the lady’s post said we only drew with the foxes the last time we played them with the pv04,db10 of this world…
Some sad faces on train bu we are the Arsenal.we do it the hard way.
Bt:I might heed your advise and stay at home re games…;) I have only experienced 5 wins in over 4 years…

  144. rico says:

Ts, the reality is, we should have battered them on paper and had we had a few different players on the pitch we would have. History means nothing, the here and now does….

šŸ™‚ fred, you and I both know that you and I both know who you mean… lol

  145. frednerk says:

Rico watching wenger after the match,I glanced into the mirror,
that picture..on the right..it is me.

  146. rico says:

fred, I couldn’t bring myself to watch his comments after the match, heard it all too many times before…

Your gravatar is being to kind on him… lol

  147. Gunnerdna says:

Ray Hudson is the best on Messi assist ” Messi sell a dummy, he could sell a chewing gum to someone with lockjaw”. lmao

  148. GUNNER4LIFE says:

Arsene wenger: “Look, the decision is not to make, it’s to
find personnel. We are open, we work on
it, but let’s not fool ourselves. Man City
lost against Stoke and had strikers, it’s not
    just about buying one player.
“We want to and we are open to it. The
pressure to buy is always there, we have to
live with that, we try our best.”

  149. tsgh says:

Lol Fred…at least I am not Judas. šŸ˜€
TRUE Rico. last year at this time og12 had scored against the scums..
Unfortunately Aw may see it as progress from last season as we lost 1 in 3 of our first game… šŸ™

  150. tsgh says:

Another worry is Ozil assisting only 1’s in 10 games.
Ozil as dev says plays best with Tro7 in the side.A huge worry considering la Mozart is nearing retirement.

  151. Gunnerdna says:

If AW persist with this 4-1-4-1 formation, not getting a proper CDM & a top class CF Ozil will continue to struggle, it might even force him to try & leave the club.

  152. rico says:

Oh well, one more day eh…

Night all, have a good evening… Tomorrow could either be fab or an absolute disaster….

    ‘Til then…..

  153. Gunnerdna says:

    Lā€™Equipe reporting weā€™ve bid ā‚¬28m for Matuidi.

I hope its bs, don’t want another midget.

  154. bradster says:

I don’t think it’s the striker making Ozil have poor touches, control and movement today.
I think Ozil needs great players around him to draw defenders away from him and finish half chances he creates.
Having Ozil, Cazorla and Ramsey all wanting to play the same game won’t work.

  155. rico says:

Just closing down my laptop… Gdna, that fan is priceless, what he said he absolutely bang on the money!!

But I do blame Kroenke too because he’s guilty of allowing AW to behave in such a fashion…

    Catch up tomorrow….

  156. Wavy says:

I’m still seething. I just can’t come to terms with the clubs lack of pro activity. It’s scandalous. If things don’t change they stay as they are! Well they haven’t and we are in the shite! 24 hours left to change things, for the better, 24 hours???
This feels like the ending of a Greek tragedy and it ain’t going to be a happy ever after scenario………!

  157. Micko says:

Much easier on the ear BT, I only say that because my local church make sure I know what time it is every sunday morning, no excuse for not going digital these days !

No other team in the premiership has brought in less players than us this summer, funny way of showing we mean business, but as Arsene says we have to trust in him this transfer window, here goes…….

  158. Micko says:

Fun is fun BT,catch ya tomorrow.

    Nite Gooners.

Notice how I’m making sure I get all my capitals in today Scott, wouldn’t want to come across as some sort of tool !!!

  159. scottfromoz says:

Micko, just keep the punctuation correct and you’ll be fine šŸ™‚
What a SHIT display that was.
We offered do little, and not just Sanogo……none of our guys were near their best.
I laughed on FB the amount of people who were screaming out for Podolski to replace Yaya…..it happened, Lukas barely bloody touched the ball, so they moved in to our next shit player.
Seriously, so many have no bloody clue about the game, and what’s even worse, cannot concede they’re wrong.
Podolski was less effective than Sanogo….big call, I know, but true.
Still, because everyone likes him, nobody will say it.
Ramsey is not playing shit, but he’s not near the level he was last season.
Ozil did plenty but again, with no runners creating space, he looked average.
    Terrible.
    Ineffectual.
    Redundant.
If Wenger fails to spend up in the next day or so, we have a very, very hard 3 seasons in front of us, because if he doesn’t see the need right now, he never will.

  160. BrainwashedKev says:

    Cesc Fabregas Ā£27m
    Mario Balotelli. Ā£16m
    Total Ā£43m.
Job done Arsene, it was that fcuking simple…
But you don’t simple do you Arsene?!!!

  161. BrainwashedKev says:

Anyway, Falcao is set to arrive to save the day…

Save the day for Man City that is…

    Nevermind, Diaby is running…

    Night All

  162. potter says:

Scott , Podolski doesnt replace Sanaogo he is not a centre forward. Bob John will know what i mean , he is an inside forward that needs a player to play off of,. For that matter so is Ozil, Sanchez , Oxlade chamberlain and if truth be known Walcott as well. We let ourselves down by not having the fulcrum for these players to feed off . Until we solve that problem we can have as much of the ball as we like it will make no difference.

  163. Wavy says:

Does he want to emulated SAF? If he does he will buy Falcoa, if he’s content with continued failure a la Brian Clough in his last few seasons, DO NOTHING, DO NOTHING AT ALL,
If the money’s there, if the money’s there..SPEND IT and spend it excitingly, spend it to WIN THE LEAGUE, not 4th place, that is worthless…….to us, the fans!
FFA I hope the pensioner read HH maybe it will make him act.. Positively
Then again maybe not. Stubborn old git.

    Night night everyone, everywhere.

  164. scottfromoz says:

Potter, I wasn’t the one asking for the replacement……my point is so many just waffle on without knowing what they’re talking about.

  165. Hell Raising Devil says:

    Good Morning Mumblers and Grumblers.

Do you remember when we used to poke fun at Gareth Bale? When the first 23 games he played in he was so crap that the spuddies did not win one single match in all of them? Maybe not eh!!!

Now I would like an A-list striker to come to AFC. But we have 16 games played with Sirnogoals and he has yet to find the net. Its not Sirnogoals fault. He does his best.

  166. Lee says:

We definitely needed a striker before Giroud’s injury, but that plank Wenger is looking to bring one in on the last day of the TW. Fucking amazing that he’s allowed to get away with this gross neglect of the squad! We need three players but more importantly I think we may need a new manager. He looks devoid of ideas and maintains his bizarre programme of constantly playing his “favourites” whilst neglecting other players.
    It’s Arsenal F.C not Arsene F.C……..get a fucking grip!

  167. Hell Raising Devil says:

We always needed alternatives for the attack. And I mean not only having Sanchez and Giroud. Essentially we needed another alternative…another type of striker. Falcao for example is different than the above mentioned two. So he gives other options.

This would keep the opponents guessing. But if we play day in day out with Sanchez and Giroud there will be no guesswork on their part. With Sanogo there is that slightunpredictability however the opponents know that with regards finishing Sanogo is still Sirnogoals.

  168. allezkev says:

    Morning Lee.
    Morning Coach.

I suppose that Cavani is still an option, as PSG will be looking to get his salery off of their books as well as balancing them…

Falcao seems set for Man City.
Would have liked to see him at Arsenal.

After those two the cupboard is a bit bare…

Just another average Arsenal transfer window!

  169. Lee says:

But we’ve been in the CL for 17yrs aren’t you grateful?
It’s pointless being in a competition that you’ll never win unless it’s all about the money not the silverware! Fucking hell I could be on to something here…..
Change can be a good thing.

  170. Hell Raising Devil says:

this has always been AW’s method and aim. Leave it late. He knows that he and Shitty want Falcao. But he knows that due to FFP shitty must sell before they buy. So either he leaves it late to secure Falcao on a lesser fee, or else he buys one of the remaining options……Cavai or Bacca

  171. Lee says:

Rico, I feel your anger…..like you I believed Wenger was going to equip the squad properly. He still may……… but why the small club mentality is beyond me!!

  172. rico says:

Furious with him Lee, he should have stayed in Rio and left it all to Ivan…

I just don’t get what planet the man is on….

  173. potter says:

As always points go begging whilst we wait for a bargain. Last year 3 from Villa this 4 from Everton and Leicester. We were told just how close we came to success last term but those are the points that get you closer.

  174. Nickie says:

4 points after 3 games, we’re over 50% dropped points in what we needed to win the title last year. not good enough

  175. frednerk says:

    Morning All,
At the moment we have signed Fak-all,nem’mind about Falcao
Where’s the replacement for tommy(good business)
yer…we have 15mill extra in the bank so what.
Gimmee the two points dropped,we may need them.
We need at least 3 players ready to go.
You were right adam 3.1/2,000 fans at wenger yesterday.
    Must have a pill now.

  176. bondex says:

Morning all. I’ve been completely numb since yesterday. Don’t understand why supporting a club can become so emotionally tiring. If we don’t get a striker @ the level of Falcao, a proper DM and a CB today, wishing for a top 5 finish will be foolish. šŸ˜”

  177. Lewis says:

    Morning all.

Kev:by our 11:10pm last night is bang on. Both players would have prefered a move to us but that would be too simple. Expect a couple of panic buys today that aren’t even good enough to improve our squad.

I gave up on wenger last year, not just because of our annual debacles in the transfer window but he has increasingly shown over the last few years he is tactically inept. Repeatedly found wanting when faced with a well organised team, yesterday is no surprise. Most managers in the EPL could do a better job with our squad and our finances. Alas, we have three more years of 4th at best, then We will no doubt have a dip like Utd as it will take time to readjust after the end of the dictatorship.

  178. Bob john says:

Unless we are that brilliant at keeping things quiet it is really worrying that we are not even linked with anyone! Our priorities should be in this order – CB DMF STR. Even if we did sign Falcao (Joke!), unless we sort out the other positions we are stuffed. I fear another KK deal though!

  179. snaparse says:

morning Rico scot and all…….it’s been a while good to see arsenal making it difficult once more……falcao most likely to move as PSG rule out cavani sale we still haven’t signed the extra CD and cdm kos is injured and we are becoming really thin at the back…

  180. Nickie says:

William Carv – I have a deal with Sporting and I am a player of Sporting. I am feeling good and it has not entered mu head to leave on the last day.

Bring in Stewart Downing and replace Ozil with him

  181. Luznic says:

Lee who is Cynthia? Arsenal to make a bid for Ron Vlaar today the defender is expected to cost 12m………Morning Rico,Lee,Scott,Coach, Lewis and all…….welcome to doomsday

  182. Hell Raising Devil says:

VSpotted: Adebayo Akinfenwa getting off the train at Manchester Piccadilly.. reportedly LVG plans to add muscle to his squad

Or is he going to shitty

    šŸ˜†

  183. Luznic says:

BT what goes on in that man’s head even a CT scan machine can never detect it, he is delusional and I have grown to dislike the man who made me like the Arsenal its sad………we will sign another Kim Kallstrom let’s keep the faith…..lol

  184. Luznic says:

Falcao to Man utd……that’s a club who is not comfortable with their status, Wenger keeps playing poker with Arsenal’s future

  185. Hell Raising Devil says:

    on the BBC

Ricky in South west: My source at Arsenal has informed me that they could be making a deadline day move to bring Thierry Henry back to the club to solve their striker situation.

    lol

  186. rico says:

I wonder if Wenger knew Falcao was off to Utd and made it look like he was interested just so he can say ‘I tried but the player….’ blah blah blah…

  187. Nickie says:

Truly disgraceful. Wenger is a disgrace. “when the right player becomes available we will do it”….Pathetic f*ck

  188. Hell Raising Devil says:

I think it will be Gus Ceasar or Stapanovs for emergency CB, it will Hillier for emergency DM while it will be TH14 as an emergency CF

    Bingo

  189. Hoffa says:

What are the chances of us sneaking under the radar for Reus? Haven’t heard anything about him for Days.

    Podolski & Cash -> Sokratis & Reus?

  190. Nickie says:

lol, Falcao joins a club not in the champions league. He must enjoy not playing at the highest level. What can Man U offer that we can’t? A decisive aggressive glory hungry manager.

  191. Hell Raising Devil says:

    Falcao to manure???

haha…..AW will get Ronaldo and Messi on loan with a view for a permanent move if they impress well enough

Or will it be Wellbeck now?

  192. Bob john says:

Can anyone explain wtf Boro Primorac does aprt from say Yes Master to Wenger?. Years ago we were told he had an encyclopedic knowledge of players around the world!

  193. Nickie says:

70k a week more than our top earner for one of the best centre forwards in the world. and it’s just a loan. You can’t turn that down in the situation we’re in lol

  194. Hell Raising Devil says:

Encyclopedia is outdated now. There are two options. Either search on Wikipedia or else follow AW…see who he likes and then go for them.

both are cost effective and easy to accomplish.

Meanwhile AW will continue to lead opposition managers on false paths like Falcao, Bale, Cavani. Reus, Carvalho, etc.

  195. Luznic says:

Falcao hates the Champions league Wenger loves the champions league not a match there, Wenger says when the right player is available we will do it, I wonder if players are displayed in the supermarket for clubs to come purchase……that man has a tumor in his head

  196. Nickie says:

lol Yes, he’s there with Trezequet, Pirlo etc. I’m actually done with him. I’m not bothered about any business he does now, even if he brings in Cavani, it’s inexcusible to let it get this bad. The sooner he’s gone the better

  197. Bob john says:

To even leave stuff to the last day smacks of incompetence in the extreme. Gambling the clubs season on the hope that you can bring some last minute players in is a joke. That’s even if we are trying which I have my doubts about! meanwhile Wenger is hobnobbing in Rome whilst our rivals snap up players.

  198. ozgunner says:

the 11th hour once again, the squads good enough once again. He’s having a laugh seriously once again – what a mess his lack of ambition and terrible indecisive nature has caused.

  199. Bob john says:

In a few weeks time we are away to Dortmund. Currently our defence for that game is Chambers, Mertersaker, Monreal. That’s it! Really don’t know what else to say!!!

  200. ozgunner says:

the fact we are so totally reliant on a kid who played what 20 games for Southampton is beyond imagination – he will burn out for sure if injury doesn’t get him first – Funny Wenger declared he saw him as a DM possibility so WTF are the CB’s – Cavalaho is history it seems another one bites the dust – the Wenger Budget Trolly Dash is on!! If he has to get on planes at this time of the window it shows how desperate we are now.

  201. Woody says:

BJ – doing business on the last day isn’t incompetent. I don’t see anyone calling United incompetent for getting Falcao, or indeed any other player moving to any other club.

We bought a few players early and no doubt need a few more, but to say buying on the final day is incompetent is not accurate as all clubs do it.

Not buying anyone by the time the window shuts is incompetent, in fact it’s gross negligence for me, but should we buy an adequate CB, DM & CF then I can’t see a problem.

That said, I don’t think we will and I will be screaming GROSS NEGLIGENCE this time tomorrow.

  202. Nickie says:

Wenger has made a complete mockery of Arsenal football club and the fans. He treats us like complete mugs, he gets complete pleasure out of us floundering for signings. He says one day “Pod is not a striker, more of a winger blah blah” and says “Sanchez is bought as a striker” what does he do? Plays Pod striker, Alexis as a winger? Clueless. Buys 42,5m worth of CAM talent, plays him left mid? Genius. Even if Wenger bought Messi he’d probably play him CB. He’s stale, tactically inept and totally pathetic in the transfer market.

You know there was actually fans on twitter yesterday saying what Wenger done with Ramsey sticking him on the wing was a masterclass and that he should do it with Wilshere. He’s brainwashed some of the mentally weak fan base.

IF we don’t sign anyone and get completely roasted by city on 13th it’s going to be a long season for Wenger.

  203. Nickie says:

We’ve needed a striker/back up striker for 5 years. Wenger played with fire only having one recognized striker all this time. I cannot believe he’s going to be this stubborn. Still plenty of time left but i’m not holding by breath.

  204. Lewis says:

Regardless of who we sign today, and I won’t hold my breath it’ll be anyone good. It’s too late! They’ve had all summer to get this squad in shape, it beggars belief. I know it’s only 3 games in but we’ve already dropped 4 points and have our usual mid season injury pile up. Fucking rediculous.

  205. Woody says:

I’ve said all week that I don’t think us Gooners will be happy come tomorrow morning and I stick by that.

But, if we were to buy the players we need today then that can’t be seen as incompetent, especially when we only just qualified for Europe – that can have an impact on finances and attracting players.

  206. esxste says:

Getting a little antsy about the defensive situation. I had been hoping Wenger would have sorted out a replacement for TV by now.
That should be the priority. Striker issue is important, but less so and is a bit of a red herring. We’ll struggle more for sure, but we still have plenty of game winners to score goals, if we have a solid enough defence.

I’d rather have a Ā£20m defender than Falcao at this point.

I really don’t understand the logic behind the idea that Wenger shows cursory interest in players only so he can say “we tried but…” . As a tactic to avoid fan wrath, its somewhat counter-productive, since the same fans that would get angry we haven’t been in the market get even more irate if we’re linked to players and don’t get them.

It’s tough to know what the true story is behind transfer rumours. It’s too simplistic to think its all about money, or that the money situation itself is as simple as “we’ll pay x amount in fees and x amount in wages, do you agree?”. There’s so much more that goes on.

  207. Nickie says:

How can you have all that midfield talent then have Sanogo upfront. It’s like having a Ferrari shell with a nissan micra engine.

  208. Woody says:

Who knows what goes on – I hear the Falcao deal is a permanent deal and the loan for one year is to comply with FFP.

If thats the case then we never stood a chance as Wenger/The Board are never going to be paying Ā£50-60m on one player, plus wages.

We do have to accept that we are probably the 4th or 5th richest club in this league, so we will be down the pecking order when it comes to competing with the rich clubs. That’s just a fact

  209. Woody says:

I agree – I don’t get this whole Sanogo thing at all. I mean the guy could be a good talent, very raw but good. The problem is that Wenger is killing him.

He goes on about killing careers if you buy new players, but you can also kill a career by over playing someone before they are ready!!

He needs someone to learn off, not be chucked in at the deep end and expected to with the fucking league for us!!!

  210. Nickie says:

Wenger has killed many many players. He completely crushes their confidence then bins them. Who recently have we bought and thought Wenger has really made them better.

  211. Wenger's lovely coat says:

Come what may, now on in January, Wenger will get it right. He’s not made it through 16years by beingclueless.

  212. rico says:

    It is Kev…

Wenger’s coat, the manager hasn’t got it right in the transfer window for the last 8/9 seasons, what makes you think he will today?

Clueless? That exactly describes AW imo…

  213. Woody says:

BT – it does matter as we would never sign him permanently.

If the players given the choice I’m sure he’d prefer to go somewhere where he’s staying rather than move around every year.

We just wouldn’t pay someone 200k a week after 50-60m to get him. That’s just plain fantasy.

  214. Woody says:

What annoys me is that Toby Alderweireld is probably going to end up at Southampton – he’d be a decent 3rd/4th choice CB.

Remy would have done a decent enough job for us and can play wide, but according to Wenger he’s not as good as Sanogo – which is why Sanogo didn’t go to the world cup and Remy did!

Carvalho has been available for ages and we could possibly get Morgan S from Southampton, if we really wanted him.

Threee of these players would instatly make our squad better. They are not world beaters by any means, but they would add to depth and offer us cover and something different up front.

    Wouldn’t even be that expensive!

  215. Gunnerdna says:

Morning all, the last minute inquiries for Remy shows AW didn’t have a plan. He sold his best striker to United and United replace Van P before AW replace him. How fans can continue to trust a manager who continue to lie to them?

  216. kel says:

Wengers off to ask the Pope for a miracle lol… what a shambles of a performance yesterday, and today will be no better..

  217. Gunnerdna says:

AW doesn’t want any player at the club who earns more than him. Fans pay to watch the players not the manager. lmfao

  218. rogerbij says:

Morning all, no new post? Possibly less said the better about yesterday… today? THE WINDOW! ™.
Just checking in, who did we buy already? CF/DM/CB? All?
