Morning all.
2015 was a pretty good year as far as Arsenal goes. No Champions League qualification required as we secured the dizzy heights of 3rd place in the league, another FA Cup won in style and finally, Arsene Wenger got one over Jose Mourinho in the Community Shield as the new season kicked off.
Throughout the year, we’ve been the most consistent side too, in fact we’d top the table with ease had the season ended at the same time as 2015.
However, there’s been a few not so good moments too. A dreadful summer transfer window, the usual injuries and the customary losses to teams which we really should be beating and not only that, we’ve witnessed the soft centred performance when the manager and players appear to think a game is won before it kicks off. And who can forget our royal cock-up in the Champions League group? Yet the positive to take from the latter is the way the team fought so hard in Greece to ensure the right result was achieved, taking us into the knock-out stages of the competition. Barcelona await us, a test which will be fascinating to say the least.
Somehow this group of Arsenal players seem to bounce back in style after a bad result/performance but if 2016 is to see Arsene Wenger win one more Premier League trophy, this really is the time to take control of what is a odd season of football in England.
There’s a lot of speculation surrounding the future of Arsene Wenger. Will he see out his contract, will he leave in the summer, could he even extend his contract – all questions which none of us know the answer to but one thing is for sure, if he plans to leave in the summer, then I truly hope he does so on a high.
And what better or more fitting way would there be than for a man who has done, and given so much to Arsenal FC, than to walk away with the Premier League trophy?
Consistency, discipline and the right attitude will win the league this season and I truly hope Arsenal can be the team who find it. If the manager gets some really good transfer business done this month and with the return of a couple of players from injury, there’s no reason why they can’t.
Happy New Year to you all and I hope 2016 brings you good health and happiness…
And a ‘magic’ hat in May!
Happy new year Rico. Wellput and we are expecting more than what we have done so far in 2015 since we are more than that..
better late than never happy new year to every one.
Morning all.
Morning all..
Have we signed anyone yet? 😉
Morning all!
Happy new year for everyone and for Arsenal!
Morning Rico and all.
hope George was not partying in the dubai towers?
Morning Ts…
Thank goodness no serious casualties….
Dead here so offski, catch up later…
Hungover? I know I am!
Morning all and a Happy New Year to every HHer.
Good Afternoon to The Lady of the House and all fellow Gooners in residence. Also, Best Wishes for for a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year!
Rico – A great article to start off the new year. I’m sure you have expressed the major concerns, fears, hopes, prayers and wishes of most Arsenal supporters. Let’s hope that Arsene and the board are listening, providence smiles on us and we can the get the players we need to win the league.
A very happy new year to everyone where ever you may be…. I trust 2016 brings you all that you wish for but above all may it bring good health happiness and the league trophy to The Arsenal in May.
Make it happen Mr Wenger, a couple of savvy signings and the league is ours to win…! Fail to bring in the necessary and i think we can forget it.
I fully agree, rico! Come on, Arsenal! We are not likely to have as good a chance to win the prem as this year!!
Happy New Year, CG! I hope you are doing well!! WATH, GG Man, I hope you’ve been kind to your liver! 😉
I heard you were trying to kill your liver with bubbles last night AGAG..? 😉 nothing wrong…! My liver and i have a great understanding, I keep it wet and it keeps me going…..!
To those in good health may you remain so.And to those of us recovering from various ills may the recoveries be short sweet and complete. Happy new year to all. And the league would be nice.
Just two glasses, WATH! Okay, maybe three. 😀 😀 I hope you’re keeping warm!
potter, I hope what you’re recovering from is nothing too serious. 🙂 HNY!
All the best to you Potter, Am sure you will be back to full fitness in time for a guest run out in May…
Alcohol keeps me warm AGAG you should know that lol 😉
Hahaha, fair enough! I forget, you are a stockholder of Grey Goose!! So who’s your dream buy for this window?
I don’t have a dream buy AGAG just want two players who would give us what we need, If we bought 2 Ray Parlours in my opinion we’d win it…! We don’t need superstars at al we need grafters who can also play a bit. We need bite and players who get stuck in, that will do me nicely.
I’ve given up on dream buys as well, tbh. AW has never bought any of them. It would be nice to have some marquee name though. There seems to be a number of Madrid players unhappy at not being played. There’s a start.
We don’t need marquee players AGAG they come with ego’s normally and we have Alexis and Ozil, we need a couple of grafters who give us a competitive edge in midfield. As i say 2 players in the mold of Ray Parlour who give 100% and die for the shirt would win us the league.
But I WANT a marquee player WATH. 😀 Giroud needs help in the goals department, you would agree. Oh, but I’m sure, we won’t get one. 😀 Seriously, with Santi out probably for the rest of the season, we need me top, top quality player on board.
lets be honest top top top quality isn’t available in January…. I think Alexis will be fine when he returns I think we need midfield energy and guts to grind out results when we just need to put a foot in a la Southampton…!
Typical woman….. want want WANT……………!
We don’t always get what we want unfortunately BUT in this case we can get buy with a couple of savvy purchases..!
AGAG, you know all about savvy purchases lady shopping queen…!
Oi oi, what’s all this ‘typical women’ stuff?? 😉
I’d like a couple of Alexis Sanchez kind of signing this month… 🙂
Afternoon all…
I knew that would awaken the old gal……………….
Always awake Wath, just often not paying attention…..
Let’s be honest, we tend to shy away from top top quality because of the price! Haha. 🙂 And I don’t disagree with AW when you think of the price the likes of Mangala, Cuadrado, et al. have commanded. Still, it would be nice to get a big name for a change. 😉
Not paying attention……………. Rest my case………….. typical woman…!
A big name, you want one we can’t pronounce AGAG…?
We need a player to come in and hit the ground running so in reality thats someone already in the prem lge who can do a job for us from word go and help us win the league, a player coming in may not settle and won’t win us anything in 4 months..! Then again maybe they will…. who knows…!
Arsene does………. apparently.
I’m more with Wath Agag, for us to push on and get this league won, we need a couple of good strong players who on days like at Southampton, will turn up and fight for the cause.
Then in the summer, whoever is manager, sort the squad out for the next season. And I think a good few will be gonners, other than just those out of contract…
But who are those, not too pricey grafters? I have no idea who they are, haha. I’m more likely to know the “rejects” of Madrid and Barcelona.
Hopefully Wenger knows Agag….
I wonder if Hayden will get a run out for us in the FA Cup game..?
He does have a talent for sniffing them out, rico. 😀 Sometimes.
Good question Wath. Would be interesting to see him get a chance, he started so well for Hull and then for some reason, Bruce left him out….
A blessed new year all..
A couple of Sanchez you want Rico? I want a treble of Gabriel’s and a few Coquelins
I think we are singing from the same hymn sheet Devil…
Afternoon All…
Afternoon Rico, Agag, Wath, Coach…
Yeah, it makes sense playing Hayden in the FACup, why not?
Play Jeff and Iwobi as well…
My team would look like this…..Cech, Bellerin,Gabriel, Gabriel, Gabriel; Coquelin, Aaron, Ozil; Sanchez, Sanchez, Sanchez. Subs …..Cech, Gabriel, Gabriel, Coquelin, Coquelin, Ozil, Sanchez.
We will pee all over everyone. Barca included
Afternoon Kev. You better Habib?
Afternoon Kev..
Surely Arsene will want to go for the treble with the FA Cup.
Three in a row I mean, not ‘the’ treble… Lol
If the stories about Ospina leaving are true, we are snookered if Cech gets an injury….
I would like 5 FA cups in a row Rico. Then 5 EPL in a row and 5 CL in a row. Not much is it?
How much have you drunk this new year Devil?
Nothing Lady. I am sick. Can’t take wine atm. 🙁
Ah, poorly eh, that explains a lot…. 😉
McLaren plans to stop us by being aggressive then…..
McClaren even… Lol
Evening and belated New Year wishes to all. Good report Rico, after summer transfer window closed, not too many thought we would be in top spot by turn of the year. Please let us make the most of this opportunity. Unless we go really big with a couple, I think City still have the squad and resources. But its our best chance in years. And I hope Leicester make top four.
RIP Natalie Cole.
Rico….imo every club should aim at winning the league every season. And a club with AFC’s resources should have that aim more than the other teams. I agree that its difficult since teams strengthen, however, i feel that out of the four games we have lost…..all four losses could have been avoided with the right mind set and decent refereeing. That means we have a superior team.
Why not win the league every season??? Barcelona, Bayern and up till now Juventus have managed to do so. Why not us as well?? Bayern would destroy some of the clubs in the EPL. Put them in the EPL and they would walk it.
Hi Andrew. If we can’t win it, I really hope Leicester do.
Devil, do you not think that is Arsenal’s aim every season? I do, but as I’ve said so many times before and even bored myself saying it, Stan sees top four as being successful and that filters though…
I’m sur Wenger wants to win the league every season too, but he wants to do it his way, and prove a point to the money bags, but so far, his plan has failed…
Dreadfully sad to hear Natalie Cole has passed away… Great singer and may she rest in peace….
have we signed Elneny yet.
Nope..
Night guys, catch up tomorrow….
Still no news concerning Elneny, which is frustrating, but shouldn’t get in the way of the club doing anymore business, that’s if they actually intend to do anymore?
It’ll be interesting to see what Tomas Rosicky has left in the tank?
If he stays fit, then he can give us 3.5 months during the intense 2nd half of the season. He is a very intelligent footballer who can come off of the bench, do a good job and allow Wenger to rotate and manage his players during this time…
I think it’s about time that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain began to deliver some end result to all the promise that he keeps on promising…
The goal he got in the Charity Shield shows what he is capable of, so come on AOC, let’s be having ya…
In fact, if I have any kind of criticism of the current squad, it’s in its wastefulness in front of goal.
They cannot rely on Giroud every game, and it’s about time they got their bloody fingers out, forget the perfect bleedin’ goal and just stick it away…
Yeah Theo, Aaron, Joel, AOC, I’m looking at you’s…
Night All
Morning Kev and all..
Miserable old day for a football match….
Morning all.
Rico, it was a spectacular day out on the water.
Fishing was ordinary but I can’t complain too much 🙂
Need a boat here Scott, no chance of catching a fish though…. 😉
So I hear, Rico lol
New post up now.
