Morning all,
Get the funny feeling we have been here before?
More than once?
Yep, me too…..
The season plays out, we have many up and downs, mostly downs this campaign and then as the season draws to a close, we hit a bit of a purple patch.
Players who have been either rubbish or absent at some stage during the season pop up with a few good performances, those who couldn’t hit a barn door finally score a goal or two and defenders who have cost us points at times step their game up and look good. Well quite good.
Not only that, we start seeing a bit of of ‘mental strength’ that Arsene hasn’t been able to brag about for a while, we see togetherness and desire, passion and a real ‘want to win’.
No-one can even suggest we are playing that way because the pressure is off either can they, as right now, the pressure is really on to finish somewhere in that top four.
Why the heck couldn’t this group of players play in such a way all season?
I haven’t a clue what the answer is, I doubt Arsene Wenger knows either but I strongly suspect he’s as frustrated as all of us…
None of us know for sure if things have changed during training, or anywhere else within the club but things certainly look a little more settled and long may that remain.
Players are happy too, new boy Monreal certainly is:
It has been tough adapting to the type of football played here in England as the players are a lot more physical. There’s also a different style of play, as I’ve said before there’s an emphasis on reaching your opponent’s goal as quickly as possible.
I’ve been here two months now and little by little I am adapting to this style of play. I am happy to be here.
Since I’ve been here the manager has given me a lot of confidence and he’s been starting me.
This has been very important for me because it helps a lot to feel that the manager has faith in me, especially as I’ve just arrived. This in turn leads to good performances.
Not sure what anyone thinks but I’m happy he’s here too, he already performs like he has been in this side for years rather than just months. Wenger may have signed a few duffers over the years, but Monreal isn’t one of them.
Another who is happy that he signed for us and resisted the temptation of joining a club who would no doubt, have guaranteed him a trophy by now is Aaron Ramsey. The poor kid gets a lot of stick sometimes, but can anyone really fault is work-rate or commitment of late?
Talking about the time he had to choose a life in Manchester or London he said:
It was definitely a hard choice to make at my age, but I’ve no regrets, I think I made the right choice. I felt more wanted at Arsenal.
I reckon he just loved a ride in the chopper to Switzerland!
Seriously though, he’s clearly happy and happiness, as Monreal said, brings out the best in players…..
Or could it be that these players really were told by Wenger to prove themselves, show they have passion, commitment and desire to play for Arsenal FC??
If so, why the heck didn’t he tell them that nine months ago!!
Our January signing, and one who is tipped to be a huge star in the making is teenage midfielder Gedion Zelalem, who turned 16 in January. He’s now received international clearance and hopes to make his debut for the under 21’s tonight against Liverpool…
One to watch, he’s already being compared to Cesc Fabregas when he was his age…
That’s it for another day, have a good one…..
How spooky, the under 21’s play Liverpool tonight and one of the adverts today is for the University of Liverpool….
Zelalem- sounds like something that gets stuck in your throat!
Hope he’s as good as he’s been billed.
Project youth still a goer, then?
Don’t mind young Germans Wavy 😉
Morning……….. Zalalalalalmammmmmmmmmmmmmm who…? ok what ever you say Rico 😀
Thought he might have been Flemmish!
Morning Wath, never heard of him either but it was in the news 😉
http://arsenalyouth.wordpress.com/schoolboys/gedion-zelalem/
Is his surname Lot?
Morning All
Ramsey has come on leaps and bounds the last few games,he looks a lot stronger,I agree with Bouldy.
Top four in our hands now,
2 home games before the other 2 play,
by next tuesday we could be 4 points clear of the other 2.
Wavy 10:16…………. very funny that one mate lol
Rico, I remember when we signed him, there was a lot of fuss made about how good he was only thing they questioned was if he could cope with the physical side of the game…. Oh great another one…! Lets hope he’s a skinny 16yr old but becomes a well built 18yr old.
Zelamem, there’s been quite a buzz about this lad on the youth Footie grapevine for about a year now…
I was gonna mention it a few months ago, but thought that it would be best not to, in case I got a cyber thumping… 😉
That’s over my head Lee…
fred, I’m starting to warm to Ramsey too, don’t tell Scott though.
He’s German Wath, of course he’ll turn into a well built 18 year old … 😉
A cyber slap….not here AK! How are you doing mate?
The Chavs face a really intense period of games this month.
Two games+ a week until the end of the season…
Dropped points on the menu…
Morning Gooners.
Morning Rico/Wath & co.
Lee is on the roof of his building at work sunning himself….! Trying to keep his Maldives tan topped up of course.
Morning Kev, hope your well matey…!
Hiya Lee, I am very good mate, you too i trust?
Spring is in the air, Arsenal coming from behind to snatch it from the Spuds.
Hey Wath, is the sun shining in Camden today?
Makes you wonder where we’d be in the table if we’d played this consistently all season….
The sun always shines on the righteous, AK! 😆
Morning all,
Not a bad weekend results wise.
I see there’s articles out asking where Walcott and Wilshere fit in. I personally would like to see Wenger choosing players on form and results. It would really boost Gerv’s and Ramsey’s confidence even more and keep Rosicky in tune with his team mates way of play.
We sure can do with a new Fabragas in our team and I remember Fab was a slight boy at 16 too and that didn’t affect him making an impact on the prem.
Also see the bloggers making something of Arteta not giving TV the arm band when he came on. Should we make anything of it or is it just a case of being too concerned with keeping the lead rather than formalities?
Morning Kev. Slapping here on HH, darn, I missed it…
George Graham said a couple of months ago, that we would not get in the top four,
Good to see the Great man has changed his mind.
Watch out for the pigeon shit Lee 😉 Lee it’s not that we playing consistent even we just playing with fire in the belly and getting stuck in…. See what happens with a bit of effort…!
A spiffing day where I am sitting AK…….
Lee, 😀
Lata you Gooners
Zelalem !!!!
I didn’t even know that we bought a kid in January.
Heard a real cockle warmer….. Jermaine Defoe won the national lottery a while back.
how much ?
Hi guys.
Rico, i knew you’d come around.
Ramsey hasn’t just come good though, he is just starting to be appreciated i reckon.
look out here come the ozzies
looks a real prospect this Zel kid – get in there. 16 and in the U21’s not bad effort – looking at his twitter, pretty level headed lad as well – thrilled to be at Arsenal of course but then what 16 year old wouldn’t?
Let’s watch who will captain Arsenal Vs Norwich
it has to be Verm, club can’t do any different, next season things will change in that department as well i think
I hope he lives up to expectations. I just remembered how Gervinho turned Mcauley inside out for Rosicky’s goal. Good day All
Our Defence will miss Mertesacker’s height, calmness on the ball( although he caused Koscienly’s yellow) for 3 whole matches. Is Fellani injured or suspended?
Afternoon all …. including my two favourite Aussie’s LOL
And you men think women can talk for England!!
Pfff 😉
How much did he win Lee?
£7.5m alledgedly……a while ago!!!
When I mentioned it in the office quite a few people had heard it……
Lady T has passed away….
Margaret Thatcher has died…
RIP …
Nice one..
February 1984-March 1985 I was 12 months on strike.
She was an evil callous cow.
Her two children did her proud.
Wenger could have done with that ticket, that’s a couple of players 😉
Fellaini suspended. Ddone 2,1 to go. He’ll be available to face us, I think. Oh joy!
might be 3/4 Rico and if we qualify for the 4 thats about all he’ll spend as well 🙂
early pick for me in the fantasy league, i like Fellaini
how’s life syg? what are you doing on here again haha
Shan’t be shedding too many tears for her, she single handedly
did more damage to the infrastructure of this country than any other leader, before or since. Well until the current bunch of old Etonian tossers! What sort of state will be in come 2015? The mind boggles!
I suppose I could emigrate – Australia perhaps?
Ha Ha, you could be right Oz…
Might be better to keep personal views on Margaret Thatcher away from HH as some may offend others…
Well said Wavy.
I dunno that prick Blair had a fairly good go at fucking it up…..tbh they’re all as bad as eachother!
Hi all,
a very nice post.
I like the look of Gedion Zelalem… I hear he has the engine of Kenenisa Bekele… the first Ethopian to feature in the EPL unless Nani has something to say about that… 😀
SYG… I told you the next Cesc will be from a war-torn African country when the players from the Brazillian Olympic team were wondering why he was not playing for Arsenal yet…… 😀 forget about
Well said Lee…
RIP… Lady T… everyone has to meet their maker sometime …
Hey Scott don’t forget my commission on Ramsey… 😀
Politics and religion two things to guarantee an argument and a conflict of opinion…! Spot on Lee no worse than spin prick Blair but again each to their own and not for a footie blog…!
Rico – Politics and religion are similar to football in that we all express our own opinion… Don’t worry about offending LOL
I was 19 years old and living on my own at the time and I remember having to rip open the bottom of a settee that I had at the time to see if there was any money that had fell down the side of it … I found 6 pence ….. I like a lot of people around me at the time were starving and living on scraps …
Thats when I look at the DHSS skanks creaming the system it drives me insane ……
At 16 Gedion’s fitness is only second to Ramsey at Arsenal.. he will be patrolling the midfield like a soldier from the pathfinder platoon in two years time… hopefully the ankle injuries don’t creep in as it has with all the other talents…
Hiya Ginge …..WATH, Lee
Ts, I was told Jenks is the fittest where did you get your dodgy info from 😛
Afternoon SYG… when you going back over to the sun..?
Thanks Ts.. I knew you’d like the bit about Ramsey
Hi buddy…
take it easy like they say… an old gent told me how he had to sell his only possession ( a gold ring)he had from his mom to buy food for his 2 month old twins because of the strikes.
Like they say… “For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul?
I’m at the Emirates on Saturday, WATH ……lol
Gets nice and warm in the bowl SYG…. 😉 Take your sun block mate….
Hi Mr WATH… Yeah Cpl Jenks is fit I hear but I hear Aaron’s didgits are comparable to Flamini’s…
All my info are dubious though 😀
Hiya SYG….
I’m @ 5:04 Ginge wearing a grey v neck jumper and adidas trainers…. I was arrested a few days later diggig coal out of a railway embankment …. two or three days after that two twelve or thirteen year old kids died when the same embankment collapsed a buried them …. It was November and the cold was just starting to kick in
Crazy world we live in… it looks more N.I… the same police crap that is used and now after the Tottenham riots we have signed our freedom away…
SYG why were you on strike… you had designer clobber from head to toe… 😀
It was the mid-Eighties everyone dressed shit, Ginge ….
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1295812-arsenal-meet-gedion-zelalem-the-newest-starlet-to-join-the-club-academy
From Adams 2nd favourite site…
southyorkshiregunner: I agree, I will not mourn the passing of the Iron Lady. I remember the Police going up to the mines, getting paid overtime, and sticking £10 notes to the inside of the windows of their vans. I also recall, Thatcher selling off the council houses and not rebuilding any new ones, along with Mental Hospitals being sold off to Private Property investors and the lunatics being let out into half way houses…. In a way it was the start of the downfall, where we stopped producing and manufacturing, no ship building, closure of mines, engineering companies etc etc.
…good day all,
Feels funny reading all these reactions of ‘Gedion who?’…I mean recently I’ve realised there are way too many ‘fans’ of our wonderful club, that can’t even be bothered to follow the youth team and news about them…the deal for zelalem was agreed way b4 the January transfer window and it was only formaly announced then, the kid was a absolute star in states and we are really lucky to have signed him as he is an arsenal fan…
@ Xr!s as far as I’m concerned Bfg is suspended for one match…or is he?
What about Gervinho’s speed, he doesn’t look like speeding but he always passes everybody
Tlail, can’t be expected to remember all their names 😉
There was never any looting or stuff like that…. We were all neighbours ….
… I remember Brodsworth, near Doncaster – the day of the Brighton Bombing – Oct 12, 1984…. We (the crowd) wouldn’t disperse and the short shield police came in after the horses charged and they were knocking hell out of anyone they could …. it was a 50/50 thing – they got back as much as they gave – All pit-houses (They were like Council houses but build for miners) were in similar shapes in each village and most possessed an inner bull ring ….. I was getting chased along with the rest and this little grey haired old lady popped her head around her door and shouted “Come in here love.”
I did……. Inside the house and laid on her front room carpet were about 25 miners …. she made a cup of tea/coffee for all the lot of us…..
That was South Yorkshire in 1984. Brilliant people.
SD – I always thought he was slow, must be his quick fancy footwork 😉
Some of the police are a bunch of pr—ks,… I remember I was once on a job observing the setting up a surveillance link in one of the high end areas in London…these coppers came over pulled me out ignoring my colleagues in a ‘BT’ van…
After like 10 minutes my colleague climb down and tell them who we sort of work for… 😉 and one of the pigs responds was ‘ I never knew black men work for the ‘6’ trying to be extra nice telling me he is doing his job…
Cant we discuss cheese, wine, GG or even football soon 😉
super story at 2:07… times have changed now I guess… these days old ladies are scared of the youth…
its interesting actually because when you go around the world you see how people are naturally nice until they are influenced by society…
Like in war torn countries where young kids are genuinely nice to whoever they meet but one day those same kids may become corrupted to hate …
Hi Rico. I just bought two boxes of the new season’s Alphonso Mangoes from India. They are the king of fruit when in this condition.
Sorry Rico… do you want to talk about how Cavani was awesome for Napoli last night? He did not score though… that reduces his transfer fee to 15M AW currency… 😀
My second wife was a police officer TS. She was a powerful woman, but quite abrupt at times.
Hi Adam – I have a feeling I might be allowed to taste one on Thursday, or forced to 😉
did you see the Remy goal Rico? Or should i say another one 🙂
That’s more like it Ts, we can afford him now…
Oz – I did, I commented when he scored it but you were snoring 😉
Stunner wasn’t it, enough to convince AW he’s fit enough 😉
I could tell you a load of stories re: police Ginge, but on here CERTAINLY isn’t the place…..
I’ve been invited in for more police interviews and made more front pages of the local newspaper than I care to remember, I’ve had the BBC and ITN crews around my home asking neighbours questions…..
Only last year I had them taking photos of the gym and had it turned over by around half a dozen plain-clothed police ….
…and been convicted of nothing…
The police are all “corrupt” in some way or form (they lie and break the law, turn blind eyes, have vendetta’s) and the justice system is there to be manipulated. You deal with what is in front of you….
I really can’t imagine anyone forcing you to do anything Rico. 🙂
Mets will be out for 1,2 or 3 games?
Rico if you were a manager you would buy more players than Fat Sam… every week you have a favourite… 😀
Hi Adam….
SYG… Lady Rico is the police on here…
Aren’t they all Adam 😉
I take it they had no warrant?
I think so Rico. When the handcuffs came out I knew I was in trouble. 🙂
Neither can I Adam…
Ts, I do not want us to sign Remy, I was being ironic….
Tsgh/Syg – would you like to swap email addresses??
Underneath, they are all softies really Rico. 🙂
Did they not have pink fluff around them Adam?
ok Rico…
No Rico, but her truncheon did. It made my subsequent interrogation a lot nicer. 🙂
Thankfully Adam, I have not had too many dealings with them through my years…. I am a well behaved citizen 😉
The “Carry On” theme has begun…..
They always have a warrant ……
And back on to football and like Rico said yesterday …. We should be looking at better players than Loic Remy ….
Is that re the email exchange Ts??
Up the Khyber Lee?
Rico, when you say GG are you talking about the George Graham that said at the start of the season we’d never get in the top four? Well he’s changed his tune…..
HHCC fancy dress right???
My Khyber is strictly one way unlike DvO…. 😆
Yep…
Remy didn’t quite achieve his potential… same as Gomis and Gignac
I like Remy….. XO Cognac!
Now is the time for fans to come out and create an atmosphere at the Emirates. Crucial matches just ahead. No reason to not go through undefeated. Even against United. I feel like the boys will feel they have a point to prove against an unimpressive United Squad who would have already won the league.
The signings everyone want will not be here if we don’t make the CL. Let’s go for third or even second. city still have to face United too and I do not think they are incapable of a collapse.
Brandy and chocolate milk just came to my mind….La Mumbas they’re called, got mangled on those in Ibiza a several years back! Oh to be young again…..
Would you take Benzema, Ginge?
Nice one Lee. But only after a curry.
That’s the one Lee, and trust you re the Cognac… 😉
Fancy dress, I am cancelling my train ticket 😉
No Remy
HI Will… long time hope all is well?
Your other Island brother has not been here for awhile since we put a good run together… 😉
Have to agree Will, as AK said yesterday, if only the home fans were as loud and supportive as the away ones…
Sing up Adam 😉
No… syg… he never scores in big games… we have so many of those…
Wenger didn’t buy him when he was hot so why will he buy him now?
Unless he is available for £4Mill because he is definitely better than Bendtner or Chamackh
Will, the ball is firmly in our court….I think we can get third!
wao just watched the goal by Iguaim againts Levante for R madrid
SYG… strikers are hard to find that is why the false 9 is used by most football loving mangers now… a player doing well for Swansea may not do very well for a Chelsea or the Arsenal imho…
I prefer a proper no.10… like Sebastian Giovinco, Ganso and RVP who AW may turn to no.9’s but we do not have time for another expriment
Good point Rico… I said that at the beginning of the season that our home fans will define where we finish… I guess I can say that because I don’t fork out for a season ticket… at least that is what my friends who hold tickets tell me
Aim for second Lee, that’s on the way City are playing…
We’re Coming For You,
We’re Coming For Youuuuu,
Middlesex Hotspurs,
We’re Coming For You….
Sing up Oz… 😉
Off out with the woofa now, back in a while….
Hi and laters AK 😉
Bluish Everton should have won but they didn’t have a good striker
We’re Coming For You,
We’re Coming For Youuuuu,
Middlesex Hotspurs,
We’re Coming For You….
i actually think Remy is a nailed on certainty for us – lets see what happens
aaah…. The iron lady.. Love or hate her she was definitely one of the 20th century icons..
Shame I was hoping she would be our next manager..
haha very good Emma
Love remy, not just because he scored yesterday but movement off the ball in his last few matches I have watched is very good. Only worry is injuries. Wouldn’t mind if we go for him in the summer in addition to Jovetic. Get in a Capoue/Lars Bender for the DM/Box-box and probably one addition(keeper/defener) and we are good to go for next summer.
i like him too Emma so we agree. He’s not a popular choice but i have no doubt he will be first choice quickly unless we buy a third striker. Really need a set DM to allow Arteta to push on further. Also agree on the keeper, i think Wenger might drop Flappy this week again, we’ll see
