Morning all,
So The Sun reckon Arsene Wenger wants to sign Gareth Barry. What a load of tosh that is, why would the club go from reportedly making an big money offer for Lars Bender which was turned down, to thinking about paying £3 million for Gareth Barry. This has to be the most stupid of rumours this summer and The Sun must be desperate.
If Wenger wants to get a few more fans behind him, that is not he way o go about it…..
I’m not anti Arsene Wenger, yes he has naffed me off, frustrated the heck out of me and truly left me bamboozled with some of his tactics on many occassion but deep down, I know he’s been a great manager for us….
But as the years have gone by, that ‘has been a great manager’ grows bigger and bigger…..
The transfer window is only two days old but talk about negotiating with the manager about a new contract is rather premature in my opinion. Ivan Gazidis and Arsene Wenger have far more important things to be doing….
Our last trophy was back in 2005, the FA Cup.
The last time we won the Premier League was back in the 2003/04 season and should we not win it this coming season, that will be TEN years…. Ouch….
Ok, we had a chance to win the Champions League Final and the Capital One Cup, but we blew both…..
Right now we don’t have a squad, let alone a team that could change that……..
Is that kind of record really worthy of a new contract?
No, not in my opinion.
So many will now suggest that Arsene Wenger has only done what the board have asked of him. He’s spent wisely (cough), secured Champions League each season because that’s all Stan Kroenke cares about and he’s kept the club in the best financial place it ever could be…
If that’s been his job description given to him by Stan Kroenke, then he has passed with flying colours.
But what about the players, the team, the squad and the trophies?
What about looking like a club which has a team/squad which looks like it’s ready to challenge for those trophies?
Isn’t that the true role of a manager? Doesn’t Arsene Wenger ‘the man’ realise that?
Arsene Wenger needs to turn things around and fast. Starting by signing 2/3 players who will really make a difference and then he can talk about a new contract.
Higuain and Cesar have been on their way for what seems like months now, it’s time to get them both in the door. Do that and other players may just start believing we are a club on the up and negotiations for further players may be easier.
One signing we have made continued his recent form in front of goal with another for the French Under 20’s last night… It wasn’t bad either….
He already looks better than Chamakh, Park and Bendtner……
Mind you, that’s not difficult…….
That’s it for another day, have a good one…..
It doesn’t get any easier…
😉
I have removed the video clip as it was playing up my wordpress…
Has Harry Higuain signed yet or Ronny Rooney..?
We are haggling over the price I read Wath, well for Higuain. Rooney is going to stay at Utd it seems….
Nice post rico.
As I stated earlier today I am agitated by our lack of big signings, I feel it has been exacerbated by the imminent arrival of paulinho at the spuds. He looks decent. Why do they get there business done so fast but our signings are long drawn out affairs?! Penny pinching?
When is the first round of pre-qualifying for the Champions League? I think some of the players earmarked to come to us are holding back to see how it all pans out. I mean who wants to play Thursday football? Cesar, actually doesn’t know which day of the week it is, so if we are buying him then just let it happen. Higuain is a different kettle of fish, he does want Tueday/Wednesday football, so everything depends on CL qualification. If there are any others in the pipeline, quality players that is, the same scenario will probably come into play.
So, no action for the time being!
Can you see Gareth Barry signingup toplay Europa Cup football? He has already suffered 3 seasons of it! Why would he opt for more of the same!?
Silly season has just re-arrived, with a vengence.
Thanks Lewis. I reckon you are right, and they are looking to get David Villa and Benteke..
If they do, they will be very very strong…
According to Lyon’s Clement Grenier, Arsenal have had a bid rejected by the French side for the midfielder.
Speaking in Le Parisien, Grenier said
“I know Lyon have rejected an offer from Arsenal.
“Of course it’s flattering that clubs are interested in me.
“It’s hard for me to talk about my future now because I’m not yet certain of it. I prefer to wait to be 100% sure of what is going to happen before I do it.”
Happy good morning to you all. Good post Rico, set me off on one……again!
Good points wavy.
Thanks Wavy, you have a point to a degree, but it hasn’t stopped players signing for the neighbours.
It could be argued that if the club really mean to step up a gear, long term we have to be a better proposition….
Personal terms have been agreed with Higain, its the price yet to be agreed
Goodmorning all,
hi rico, hope u had a swell time last week
Lets not compare Corinthians and R.madrid and the profile of the player we are aiming to sign. Nobody knows what is going on behind the scene. Arsenal ‘dithering’ over the price where from the lest trusted sources(goal/sun) with no quotes to backup their claim. Lets keep our fingers crust and hope the deal comes through
Perhaps unreal are waiting for Cavani to be settled, then they will know else may come in for Higuain. The bidding war can commence! And we know who won’t win that, don’t we?so we are back to the likes of Bentner and those of his ability. Not likely to be much progress there.
Unless…………………..Sanogo turns out to be an inspired signing! Well he might you know!
Ye we’ve signed them
https://twitter.com/Arsenal/status/352357798295777280
Hi emma, I did thanks…
But Paulinho is a Brazilian international, he can’t be all bad 😉
So also was Denilson 😉
That’s good for the three youngsters, now to a few a little bit older ….
Wavy, but the player will have a say on where he goes and right now it seems that’s reported to be Arsenal.
rico – Just saying it is easier to deal with a club like corinthian than R. madrid ego
Only for the under 21’s though emma 😉
Grenier might be a replacement for AA23. Where is Chamakh?
Gone I hope Xr’s….
Wenger and the Board are fooling Arsenal fans! Mark my words. They are pretenders of the highest standard and at this rate, 4th place won’t happen next season! And for those thinking that we must qualify for champions league proper be4 we sign players how true is that? Was everton playing champions league futball? What about Hiquain will he play if he remains in real with new signings? If we have not signed players, its because Wenger & Gazidis tother with his stupid board has refused to sign good players
Jamshack is in Archway Road, smoking his long rubber piped shisha! Its what he does after training! Got to keep the carbon monoxide levels up! Too much oxygen in the blood may increase the energy levels to the point where form improves and he finds himself on the old subs bench and looking likely to being asked to expose his body to being molested by some over aggressive type with a point to prove!
Giddy, do you have some inside info on that or is it just your view?
Arsene wenger shud make hay while d sun is shining now or else he will regret it
The usual game of keeping fans surfing on net to see who will come through is on. I don’t think we are serious at all. If we are, why have we not sign all the players we were told are just left with few details to wrap up their deals? We are now scouts for other clubs whom I believe pay royalty to the profit minded management. Our allegiance can never be rivalled but if we are made to suffer these management made pains unabated then we could take a decision that will possibly doom the guns.
Morning all,
Aren’t we still seeded and they decide the play off against us on the 9th August once all the qualifiers are done. Think I read that on Arsenal.com last month.
If they’re waiting for us to qualify that means they’ll be last minute transfers and it doesn’t give their respective teams time to find a replacement. So, a typical Arsenal transfer window again.
I am not convinced you are right Adah. But I’m not convinced you are wrong either…
I’m holding hope until late July…
I’m not sure what happens Bradster but if his summer is a ‘typical’ AW summer then IG is going to look very very silly…
And I don’t think he will allow that….
Gooners state that a very classy player has signed with Spuds.
We then claim the good players want CL football?
Which is it?
I am confused…not that it is hard 🙂
Mornng all.
Good Morning to the Lady of the House and all fellow Gooners in residence.
UnReal are angered that Higuain has agitated for a trasnsfer and gone public with that fact. This lessens UnReal’s bargaining power. They don’t like it when their own style of tactics are used against them. There was at least one other club (Juventus) interested in him, but quotes from their president said they are no longer interested in him. This leaves only Arsenal, at the moment, interested in him.
Unless UnReal need the money from Higuain’s transfer for their own acquisitions, they is no need for them expedite this deal. They are pissed with Higuain’s tactics. Whether Arsenal had anything to do with that is another matter. So, if they don’t need the transfer fees right away, the longer they drag it out only increases the likelyhood of another club coming in to start a bidding war and increase the transfer fee. In the meantime they teach the player and possibly Arsenal a lesson. Arogant and hypocritical I know, but Unreal have never been known for being ethical or gentlemen in their business dealings.
CG, that is where Arsenal have positioned themselves….we have the power to screw these clubs over because we can pay in full and up front.
I love it.
Well, i will when we write the cheques 🙂
Don’t think people are saying that Scott, just suggesting players might be, there’s a difference 😉
Morning Cg, I take it yo aren’t keen on Real 😉
Pity we didn’t do that a bit more often and a bit earlier Scott…
Scott – Too many people are hanging on every word they read and are letting their emotions overule rational thinking. The all too common answer put forward is to throw more money at it and pretend we are the likes on Abu Dhabi Citeh. Selling clubs just love to see them, PSG, Monaco, etc. coming as they are willing to pay over the odds. Unless the player and BOTH clubs are anxious for the deal to go through, transfer and contract negotiations can be protracted. Sometimes you win – sometimes you lose.
I find it extremely tiresome when posters talk as if buying a player is as simple as buying groceries at Tesco. I know most of them wouldn’t be so cavalier with their own money.
If it was so difficult as Arsenal make it CG, then we would have similar situations with other clubs that don’t have money loaded owners.
If we’re using the grocery store comparison, I wouldn’t not buy something at the store just to save myself a few cents as the trip to the next store isn’t worth the saving. Like Arsenal have done before in saving on price but paying higher in wages for the not as good injury prone possible star for the future.
dont renew ur tickets. We would end up lik liverpool or blackburn is care is not taken.spurz ar getting stronger every day.as a gooner imagine benteke and paulinho with bale in our squad.we are acting a movie titled doomsday
Rico – UnReal has a great team, but is a terrible club. They are arrogant and underhanded and regularly demonstrate a lack class and ethics in their business dealings. FC Farcelona are cut from the same piece of cloth. They have managed to get their own way for far too long and believe that it is theirs by right. UnReal would have gone bankrupt on numerous occassions if it weren’t for behind the scenes support from the national and city governments. I’m hoping that Finacial Fair Play will teach them and their ilk a severe lesson.
Excellent point Cg…
Now all of a sudden Spuddies do their business earlier than us?… Some fans have forgotten about Moutinho, Dembele on the last day of the previous transfer window…
Swampies are selling because Bale is going for £50M.
Paulinho = special relations with Unreal.
Edu has been trying to sell Paulinho since 2 years ago…
Morning all btw…
Shelvey is off to Swansea for £6 million. Didn’t we offer that for Grenier….
Welcome to those just joining today, Helen, the ‘c’ word sends you into to spam, so if you want to join in, make a few changes please…
Cg – the same could be said about too many taking the clubs word as gospel when there is little to back it up….
Just saying 😉
Bradster – You make a couple of good points and where and when they apply is a matter of opinion, but that has been the case in several of the club’s earlier transfers, especially the higher wages for what were effectively squad players. Yet, in many cases the negotiations for players have been completed in an orderly fashion and in confidence (e.g. Cazorla, Monreal and Podolski). It’s a varition on the old addage – It takes at least three to transfer tango. Either or both clubs, the player, his agent(s) or competing club(s) can drag it out or throw a spanner in the works. Just look at what a farce bendtner’s transfer has become because the player still has delusions of grandeur. If he was half as good as he thinks he is, clubs would be beating on Arsenal’s door to do a deal. Even when he has been given carte blanche to negotiate a transfer, subject to the buying club agreeing to a low transfer fee, it drags on. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him still on Arsenal’s books come September.
BIld is reporting that Bendtner to frankfurt is a 1-year loan deal with option to buy. I thought his contract expires in 2015
shelvey to swansea for £6m? Someone must be smoking shisha north wales
Rico – Re: your 12:05
All too true. The club are no angels when it comes to being spin doctors.
This could turn out to be the most interesting tranfer window to date. Many clubs across Europe are in financial difficulty and must sell before they can buy. Will Pellegrini at Abu Dhabi Citeh be forced to do the same. They aren’t broke, but will have to get their high deficit under control. Their owners can no longer inject cash into the club. Then we have clubs like Monaco and PSG still spending like the proverbial drunken sailor.
While some of the bigger clubs that have money (e.g. Bayern Munchen) will do their business early, I think the bulk of European transfers will take place in a flurry in August. Hopefully Arsenal can get most, if not all, of their business done in the next few weeks.
Ts – but we are talking about this summer, not last. The summer after which IG has promised us early signings….. and other good things…
The players return to training on Thursday and then head on tour soon after. Be ideal if new signings were on the plane but clearly they won’t be….
Good comment Cg but why Aug, surely the sooner all clubs get their business done the better?
Those who are sold need replacing and pre-season is hectic
😆 emma, enough ha hey make a bid for Chamakh with a bit of luck…
Rico – It would be good for the players and the club if the ‘new signings’ were available for the Asian tour. More importantly though is that we have them available and fit to play for our Champions League qualifying and the beginning of the BPL. Hopefully, we will have them signed and settled by the time our Confederations Cup players return.
My laptop keyboard is playing up, if I don’t check what I have written, my comments look like a take from Allo Allo 😉
rico – Chamakh is not bothered 😉 He wont leave until his contract expires just like arshavin. Grab all the money you can is his motto. Another loan could be on the card
I couldn’t agree more Cg
Just like he did before joining us emma…
As long as he is nowhere near he 25, I’ll be happy…
Rico – Most clubs don’t have much cash on hand. They will have to sell before they buy. Most of the clubs with money are the bigger clubs and they are, for the most part, dealing with other big clubs. It will take a little time for some of that money to trickle down to the other clubs. Once money starts to move into the market clubs will have money to buy and the selling club will then be able to buy. It is a bit like a coal fired locomotive, it will take a little time for it to build up a head of steam.
The squad rules add another level of complication to the process. If your current team is at or near the maximum 25 players, not counting the U21’s, you wont want to buy too many players and be stuck with players you can’t declare on your list. Otherwise as the window nears closure; you will be forced into lowering your asking price, making a loan deal at less favourable terms or have player you must pay but can’t play. I think this may apply to Abu Dhabi Citeh as they have a bloated squad.
Breaking News..
Rooney has left Man Utd……..
The training ground at least, Sky Sports are sad…..
More the reason to sell early then Cg because hey too need time to sign players…
Look at Real, if Ts suggestion is right and they are to sign Bale, surely they need to be selling early….
My bet though is he ends up at Manchester United….
morning all!
Did we sign anyone?
No JM… 🙁
Paulinho was superb sign for totts… cheaper then Ramirez and better player
Some of you may find this article of intrest.
‘How agents create transfer myths and use the press to advertise their players’;
http://blog.emiratesstadium.info/archives/29717
Rico – I don’t think Spuds will sell Bale this year unless it is for silly money. If UnReal really want him this season they will have to raise cash. A lot may depend on the CR7 situation, what he wants to do and what the club want of him. Are ManUre serious about wanting him back and what are they willing to pay?
The player transfer market is not always logical or rational. It is like the stock market which is often driven by emotion and sentiment. If you are making assumptions based on faulty data/information (i.e. baseless rumours) your assumptions/conclusions will most likely also be faulty. Accurate and timely information aren’t always available and the true facts not known till well after the fact, if even then.
Anyway it is very late here, I’m tired and I think I have taken more than my fair share of column inches today. So, I will bid you all a Good Night/Day/Afternoon/Evening. Keep the Faith fellow Gooners.
With money too tight to mention, in countries like Spain, Portugal, Italy and France, there could be a few Carzorla type bargains to be had in late-August…
It’s a bummer and it sure is frustrating for us fans, but we might be enjoying a couple of ‘value for money’ signings in 6/7 weeks time.
Get Higuain and Cesar in to calm the natives (us) then sit back and watch all those financially strapped selling clubs squirm as the end of the Window approaches…
Ts disagrees JM 😉
Night night Cg, I don’t see them selling him either. They will build around him, as we should have done with Cesc….
Amen Brother Kev. Out of the mouths of babes.
By the way, you’ll need to explain your methylated spirits comment from yesterday.
Afternoon Rico…
I sense some tasty morsels will be available from La Ljga in particular, as July moves into August.
Spanish football is rotten to the core with the brown stuff due to hit the fan at any time…
Tax evasion seems rife in that part of the World, with everybody involved.
But with state hand-outs drying up, the affairs of Barcaloonya and Real Madhouse coming under the microscope
CG, give me a couple of minutes. 😉
Unreal will not sell yet… rumours are that their creditors and backers (bankers) are looking for some payments by end of July to cut away their losses…
selling after the auditing and credit payments will give them enough to start afresh…
Yeah Canuck, Methylated Spirit is the mythical woman with all the snakes growing out of her bonce…
One glance from her, would turn you to stone, just like Adam’s 2nd wife… 😉
http://www.whoateallthepies.tv/arsenal/169285/the-black-and-white-years-30-marvelous-vintage-photos-of-arsenals-highbury-stadium-between-1931-1967.html
Kev you take a bloody good photo….
Night Cg and Scott
Where is Oz by the way… he hasn’t been around for a while?
Thanks Lee…….I think… 😐
What about this for a rumour….
Wenger has offered £12million for Lescott, Barry and Richards.
Man City want £16million…..
What a pile of crap…. 😆
How long did the mighty Barcelona take to capture Songinho from us?
How long did Real take to capture Modric?
FC Bavaria spent all summer trying to sign Lars…in the mean time, it took them all summer to sign Martinez from Spain in the last week…
Big deals take time unless you are talking about release clauses etc; imho anyway…
Nice pics Ak…
A big pre-season ahead for Aneke, Yennaris and Coquelin…
Ginge, the South American youngster who left 12 months ago was Botelho.
Galindo is still under contract for a couple of years.
I believe that both he and Wellington qualify for Spanish passports this summer, therefore no need for work permits.
Maybe the club will do likewise with Joel Campbell?
I’m glad you like them Ginge… 😉
Hi Ak, how you feeling?
I think you are right, we just need 1/2 in now to settle things and then wait and see what happens over the next few weeks…
Afternoon all.
DAY 3 of silly season.
I was in Paris in early February this year, in a bar watching a top of the table match featuring Marseille… A couple of the French guys watching it said to me: “French football is no good…. We have no good players in the league.”
They seemed honest but obviously knew Jack Shit.
We’ve just bought a player from Auxerre who played who’s played 21 times for a team that came 9th in the French Second Division and knocked in 10 goals – 4 of them in one game… (albeit all tap in’s that most Sunday league forwards would bury).
…Wenger knows what he’s on about… He’s the main man – These french guys in the bar have never had half a day in football…..
We got him for FREE – that means he cost absolutely NOTHING … No gamble whatsoever. A bit like Chamakh.
The reality is that Arsenal have gambled at LEAST £7.8M on Sanogo.
This is the archetypical Wenger “tied to a long contract so we can never get shut of him” signing.
Maybe we are after linking him up with Joel Campbell and after winning all the U21 trophy’s this season?
He might possibly be good. He might possibly be not as well.
It’ll be interesting to see what Wenger has planned for our new millionaire……. Will he take over from Abou Diaby who is contracted to the club until 2036, as Wenger’s new footman and butler or will he get game time? seeing as we have Podolski, Giroud, Walcott and that incisor-flashing showboating Turkish-boot wearing Duck Egg Wenger got mugged by Lille for and reportedly have Higuain on his way with a Rooney lurking in the backgound …. and never ever forget Chamakh – that elegant striker from the Riviera who cost absolutely NOTHING……
…It’ll be an exciting season with a new Herbert Chapman-esque 4-1-5 formation.
….No wonder Wenger’s looking at Lars Bender or Fellani to fill that huge midfield void….
I was wearing Wath’s 1923 brogues at the time… 😛
Would be easy to wheel around the trophy haul of the last 9 years 😉
Hi Syg…
I’m off out with Fido, the Real Socidad rumour has finished me off 😉
Cheers Rico, not too bad, thanks…
Just sitting on ranks today, not in the mood to slog it around…
I have to say, that there are some mightily fat Arab kids wandering around Marble Arch these days. God only knows what their parents stuff into them???
I know… this does not concern us but all the noise about Paulinho is funny…
At Corinthians Ralf (de Souza Teles) is the main defensive midfielder anyways… he has turned down multiple bids from Munich, PSG and Inter to stay in Brazil over the last 3 or 4 years.
My mate a Camden born and bred gooner, just called me to talk about the spuddies and how the one point gap between us will be closed and his ST etc…
The funny thing is mate of mine did not even bother watching the Confederation Cup to see how good the said player is…
My point was that B team already have Sandro (unless his injury is so bad he is not coming back), Parker, Dembele to name a few in that position… the swampies have spent 3 years trying to sign Damiao (spelling) and they spend 17 bars on Paulinho? I see him as another klerberson 😉
The same can be said of Forlan outshining Suarez but some fans would rather rave about a striker in a mediocre team with a hannibal habit
Where is Moura at the moment?
A
Real Sociedad???
What gem of media imagination, is that all about?!
Hey SYG… that was a long break… The Cypriot authority have finally released you… 😛
Good to hear Ak, here it is….
http://gossip.ladyarse.com/arsenal/2013/07/03/arsenal-linked-with-25m-move-for-sociedad-star/?
Who are the three Arsenal youngsters who have signed contracts?
Cheers Rico, he’ll be at Wastelands or Chavski Bridge in a couple of years…
Another Hazard/Gotze scenario…
Ak,
That is what happens when you are 13 y.o and your parents buy you a Patek Phillippe watch…
When Woolworth use to be on Edgware Road now Waitrose, those kids use to spend serious money on those pic n mix. The funny thing is the sweets had pork products in them too… 😀
I am sure you know what some of those spoilt kids get up to…
Many years ago, whilst working part-time during uni days in Selfridges, one of those M.E folks offerred a colleague guy 16 y.o (blond blue eyed) his cartier watch if he would come to his flat on Park lane…
Hiya Ginge. The Arsenal news has been slow mate. there’s been nothing to talk about.
Back over to Cyprus on the 17th for 11 days… I spent the last 3 days of the last holiday trying to catch a 9ft black whip snake in the field at the back of the villa … too quick
Liked your bit about Paulinho. I hope you’re right.
A kid on the blogs who comes across as an ITK Gooner-hater, maintains the Fabregas and Rooney are the stories that both have legs….
You are a snake catcher too? A man of many talents you are 😀
Hope you are well…
Don’t get me wrong Paulinho is a good player, fbut is he better than what we have? No. He will be a good addition to any squad…
The thing is if RM were really interested, he would never have picked the swampies over Unreal 😉 Its another attempt by the spuddie journos to save face for spending £17M on a player that may not be needed…
The snake was probably Stan coming after you for bashing his team 😉
Don Vito has finalised his move to Sunderland…
…. ‘that incisor-flashing showboating Turkish-boot wearing Duck Egg Wenger got mugged by Lille’ … 😀 😀
Ah, you said black snake, that was Yao Gerv weaving through your defence SYg,,,
Ginge, all the hypocritical shenanigans, that our summer visitors from the Middle East get up to, surprises me not…
Frankly, I couldn’t care less.
Just as long as they pay their fare, on the way to whatever whorehouse or bar they wish to visit… 😉
So, the club has seemingly reversed it’s earlier decision and has retained Zach Fagan…
Not sure if he really has much of a future tbh, I understand they kept him because Monteirio decided to leave…
Zak Ansah is injury prone, not sure he has a future either, beyond this season…
Anthony Jeffrey I like, a good old fashioned winger, who can beat his opposing full-back and stick over a decent cross…
I hope the club persevere with him…
LOL.
I aren’t no snake catcher – it was like frigging lightning. They bite but aren’t poisonous like the Vipers
I said to the missus that if I caught it – A photo of me holding it like Stevie Irwin would look great.. or me in bed out cold, both drooling and attached to a drip ……
Personally, I thought Paulinho was a banker for us. I’d certainly prefer him over Coquelin and Frimpong who are both a waste of two squad spaces.
Exactly Ak, Zak has been retained because he is injury prone… lol
To be honest with you I have no idea what position he will be suitable to play… he holds on to the ball too long and is very one dimensional…
Saying that Ronaldo was like that until his last 2.5 years at Old Toilette
I was sorry to see Jordan Wynter leave, but the decision was understandable giving his chronic injury record.
I hope the kid has a change of fortune at Bristol City.
Wouldn’t surprise me if, given a fair run of injury-free game-time, that we don’t see him in the EPL one day…
That true Syg re Paulinho… but I can’t see him over staying with we keep pipping those tw@ts to the CL spot. 😉
why is Le Coq not moving so that Gourchuff or Grenier can come this way?
Tbh Ginge, I’ve not seen him play.
Is he ever fit?
I understood that he played the second striker role or out wide.
He ain’t gonna get a chance leading the line…
Akpom is the boy for that. He is quality with a capital Q…
If Paulinho, was really the ‘Billy Big Bollocks’ that the Press are going on about, then why has he ended up at the Spuds???
As I say… lets keep the faith; OG12 was not bought until 26th July and that was with him even signing before his summer break…
Nasri was the same too…
Even Gerv too awhile to arrive… anfd he is a blind bat…
Once players arrive for pre-season and the managers and chairman/persons realise players wanting away do not want to stay, they settle for a reasonable fee 😉
Ansah played in the next gen final… he came on as a sub 😉
Akpom is solid but so was Afobe… its the injuries mate that robs us of all the potential stars we could have… fingers crossed mate…
I still think Aneke will be decent addition to the squad… he is 20 now and the education in Crewe will be invaluable… the first 4 weeks there, his body language mimicked AA23 and the fans got on his back… he did not shirk though and then he started scoring super goals…
Afobe’s injuries always seemed to be his fcuking knees, therefore affecting his pace, a major part of his game…
Akpom, I believe, has more to his game than pace, technically I think he is superior to Afobe, I can’t see him suffering the same problems as Benik.
It might take Afobe a couple of years to totally recover from all his damaging injuries.
If he does then I can see him having a good career at the very top of the game.
Aneke physically has all that you should need to play centre-midfield.
Maybe, it’s between his ears that is the problem.
At 20, he should really be in and around the 1st team squad..,
Back to work for me…
Lata Ginge
Later Ak… enjoy
If we dont tie down higuain, someone else will come in for him, then we are finished. We need to up the bid and lock him down. This is our chance, the opening is closing.
Good Evening Lady, Sir and Gentlemen.
Nice post Rico.
But the last comment…….He already looks better than Chamakh, Park and Bendtner……
Mind you, that’s not difficult…….
That is an absolute classic!!!! Brings a smile to tired faces.
Had a fine day with the staff during our annual lunch together. Now its back home.
As Ak said……..Afobe’s injury is his knees thereby affecting his speed. And that is what Sanogo has in abundance over Chamack, Bendy and Park. He is direct and fast. A bit of Anelka (the speed only I hope) and a bit of TH.
Its the locals I feel sorry for Nige, all this hesitancy from Higuian is causing chaos with the housing market in Islington, like you say the sooner we lock him down the better.
Mannone has gone then…
Evening all…..
Hi Devil, glad I brought a smile to your face 😉
rico, they made him an offer he couldn’t refuse.
Yes Micko, a pre-season tour to Italy 😉

Thanks all for your kind messages re the job..
George, mentally draining, a new job jars the brain big time, have to say I do envy people who are able to be their own boss !
rico, kick-off is only 6 weeks away now, hope we don’t leave it to the last minute, our alsation legend Arsene is very good at that.
Devil, watching Cesar over the last couple of weeks for Brazil makes it a no-brainer for me, be stupid to miss out on him.
He should have come last year……….on a fecking free transfer.
Funny enough Devil, I have written a post about that for tomorrow
🙂 George, but that’s healthy cooking ….
So you and Micko are at new jobs – great news….
Wenger confirmed we had talks with him last year, maybe the lure of qpr was too hard to resist.
I know Micko, put like that it’s quite frightening. Yet some wonder why so so many fans are getting edgy….
The next two weeks has to see some serious serious action take place at Arsenal….
Wenger talks with many, his problem is getting passed the talking.
I’m surprised he has a child 😉
Micko…….maybe the lure of qpr was too hard to resist.
Are you talking from your arse by any chance???? 😉
I’d have Arsene down as a Y fronts man rico, they prevent fallout, maybe he was going commando that night !
😛 Micko
As usual devil, but don’t worry you won’t have to put up with my drivel as much for a little while now.
v funny rico @6.20
Well done Micko on your new job..can’t beat being your own boss, but the way things are , anything is better than nothing…hopefully it isnt like that at our beloved Arsenal!
Looks healthy as the twitter pic of pod, with the pork belly is not viewable as is his kubasa , can of tyskie and packet of fags..
Arsene is waiting for the petroclubs to spend first…
Perhaps he keeps Arsenals cheque book in his Y fronts…..
6.31 Micko 🙁 I will miss your humour big time….
Over and out guys, enjoy the murray game rico, I know wath will be glued to the box !
Have a good evening Micko, it’s a good game, I hope Wath is watching 😉
Off for a bit now, need to do a few things….
Arsenwenger is a serious calamity 2 arsenal. Nothing good is coming this season except the enemy is shown the way out, then there will be progressive change at emirate.
I agree with Mick
And George… 😉
Evenin Kevin
We signing a goalie to replace the doorman?
Flapper is leaving too…
Joking my friend Micko.
Good luck with your job mate.
What time is Murreymint playing I am soooooooooo excited to see him get beat…!
Micko ya cheeky git, hope all well mate and hope the new job don’t keep you away for to long.
AK have you donated your brogues to the British museum yet..?
George, good to hear you got a bit of work mate even if it’s not what you want, lets you look for something better mate.
Evening Dev.
He’s just won Wath, but then you know that 😉
Evening WATH.
According to Marca and TuttomercatoWeb Higuain is as good as ours.
Him and Cesar would drive us up a notch. Get a new defender and DM and we would go up four notches.
Dev, lets not be counting our chickens until we know RM have accepted our bid for Higuian, one thing agreeing personal terms quite another agreeing the fee when they trying to milk as much a possible.
I had an afternoon siesta Rico cos I was so excited about watching Andy Jock and now your telling me I missed it……………..?
Tell you what Wath, if our players had half of the jocks determination and will to win, we’d have won a lot more matches over the last few seasons…
That’s me done for another day…
Night all, have a good one….
George, I did read that Fabianski had been offered a 2 year deal….
Guys, do we want Cesar really…a guy who didn’t come to is because he didn’t want to fight for his position, but now doesn’t want to play in the championship.
What WON’T he want in 12 months time?
Food for thought.
Morning all.
Ak really a 2 yr deal?
Thanks wath
Hi Scott , true about Cesar…. Crappy personality …
Night Rico
That’s what I heard George…
Mind you, with a World Cup pending next summer, I imagine that both Fabianski and Szczesny will want to play.
Signing Cesar could make things very interesting…
George, he hardly shows a competitive nature, hey 🙂
Kev, 3 doesn’t go into one, so who misses out do you think?
I personally don’t want him, and not just because of the games he has played with us……he has stated he very nearly signed with us 12 months ago.
The other reason is that Fabianski showed late last season he is on the path to fulfilling his ability and potential.
Szczesny also showed little hints that he is maturing after being dropped.
Signing Cesar stifles the progress of both, imo.
Explain this…..Luis Suarez has dropped from 20-1 to 7-2 to join Arsenal.
Wtf??
Luis Suarez to Arsenal….
Blimey, I can imagine Adam reading this in the morning and choking on his Weetabix…
Kev, it comes from Skybet.
I don’t know if there is anything in it at all, but i do not want the little prick.
As far as the goalkeepers are concerned Scott, the fact that Wenger is looking at another keeper says it all…
Szczesny has had plenty of opportunities to make the signing of a new keeper redundent.
But has he???
Fabianski really suprised me when he got that run of games at the tail-end of last season. To me, he looked better than Szczesny, but he is prone to injury, or has been in recent times. Can Arsenal take a risk on him as their No.1..?
The last time Arsenal won a trophy, they had a proven, experienced goalkeeper between the sticks.
Maybe it’s time to return to that way of building a team…
Scott, Wenger would never sign a player with a suspect personality, unless he knew things that we aren’t privy to.
On the face of it, I would not take Suarez.
But if Wenger signed him, then what would that say of Suarez’s detractors???
It ain’t gonna happen, but it adds to the transfer debate I suppose…
Worth a Fiver on Skybet I reckon, and I know somebody who could do with that… 😉
Kev, we don’t know for a fact Arsene is looking at a keeper though, or do we?
I have only heard the rumours 🙂
Suarez….bloody hell…..brilliant player, bit what a scumbag of a man.
Not for me…never.
Cesar joined Qpr for the money and nothing else imho…
Suarez, I doubt I will ever happen but he score goals that’s for sure, just have to make sure he is well fed and full before ko…
Morning all…
11.05 – That would be you Ak 😉
Plenty coming from Argentina saying Higuain is a definite Gunner….done and dusted.
Morning all.
But there is still time for AW/IG to naff it up Scott 😉
Not this time Rico……we have him 🙂
Think I will wait for it to be official Scott… Been here too many times before…
Only when Madrid agree and accept a fee can we be sure the Higgy deal is done… We know what utter wankers Madrid are..!
Morning all.
Not just Madrid Wath 😉
Fitness class for me this morning, that’s going to be tough…
New Post will be up around 9.30
Back later….
Morning all,
Scott good point about Cesar…what happened when he had competition from Dida?food for thought indeed.
I prefer Machetti btw if rumours are TRUE…
Wath,Le Coq moving to Freisburg…is that adding up to our boy Ginter moving to us?;)
It could maybe help the situation Ts, what you reckon..?
Guys, we don’t need to sell a player before we can pay this time…massive difference.
Real, on the other hand, DO, so need this to happen.
He is ours 🙂
Cesar….no thanks.
Most disagree…nothing new there….but i am more than happy with the two keepers we have.
WATH, it will be interesting…; I was expecting Le Coq to move to Lyon or OM as part of a deal for Ayew or Grenier or Gourchuff but…
Ginter is more of a DM than Le Coq and will be a decent squad player… He will get on with the other German contigents in the squad too…
There is still Yao available for a swap deal 😉
William Hill have closed betting on Suarez to us…what is going on??
Sorry, i should add…i just read that……..
Nothing much… bookies trying to make news…
I doubt the dippers will sell to us…
Ginge, i reckon a world of opportunities has opened up because we can actually pay up front.
We paid up front last year as well Scott….!
Maybe Suarez is having a punt on himself to move to 4/5 clubs….!
I’d take Ginter Ts def from what I have seen, I quite like Coq but is he ever gonna make it at Arsenal, I doubt it very much.
Le Coq would have made it already if he had stayed a RB but he chose to want to only play CM… his position was always wrong in that position but he was always better on the ball having originally been a RB/RW…
Wath, and we got some quality in 🙂
