New Diaby deal a good idea? Lloris to do a Sol? Bid confirmed….

Morning all.

A few headlines yesterday afternoon were about Abou Diaby. Talk is, he’s to be offered a pay as you play deal.

Firstly, I haven’t a clue whether it’s true but secondly, it wouldn’t at all surprise me if it was…

When Diaby has been fit and healthy, which I know seems a lifetime ago, he’s been ok, sometimes very good, well once or twice. When on form, he can be a good box to box midfielder with power and pace, and he’s tall. The best thing about him was his boot, the one that John Terry decided to head-butt…

Head to boot Ref....
Head to boot Ref….

But he’s a crock and unless Shad and his medical team have worked miracles, what’s the point in keeping Diaby?

He’s had a few games for the under 21’s and there’s been no reports of further setbacks but playing for the first team remains a long way away.

Does Arsene Wenger he’s worth taking a chance on?

Do you?

In other news yesterday, Jon Moss was confirmed as the man to take charge of the FA Cup Final and former referee Mark Halsey thinks it’s a daft appointment:

Greg Dyke has got to take a look at the appointment process for the FA Cup referee because, frankly, it’s become a joke.

It’s quite clear Mark Clattenburg should be in charge. He’s consistently our outstanding referee who time and time again proves himself on the biggest stage.

Personally, I think Halsey is spot on, Mark Clattenburg is one of the PL’s better referee’s and why he’s not been rewarded with officiating such a big match beggars belief. As for Moss, he can’t even control a tin of magic spray let alone a game of football!

And the referee for Sunday’s match is Michael Oliver.

It’s looking highly likely that Per Mertesacker will miss this weekend’s fixture through injury. There was once a time that such news would cause me concern but to be honest, I think Gabriel is the better option. He’s strong, hard as nails and won’t take any rubbish from Costa or Drogba and according to reports both should be fit to play, as should Remy.

Gossip:

Apparently Hugo Lloris wants to quit the Totts for Champions League football according to the Guardian but he wants to stay in the Premier League.

Better than Szczesny? Could he be the next man to switch North London clubs?

Emanuel Mammana is being linked to us in the Telegraph.

Finally, the Paulo Dybala saga rolls on with Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini claiming that Arsenal have made a bid for him:

Will he stay? No, because the player and his agent aspire to a big club, and they’re right to do so. I’ve already received at least four offers.

Two were from Italian clubs, and two were from abroad, and they include Arsenal and Juventus.

Ok, that’s enough..

Enjoy Wednesday guys…

lol you got to love chairperson’s of football clubs who say their best players are up for sale…

Good read Rico… you got me there. There was me thinking King Abou had signed a contract allowing him to stay with us for the rest of his playing career

Morning All. How were your nights?

Re: Rico about your question on first April, I’m still yet to sort out the browser thing. To comment here,I’ll have to use a different browser. I normally use Opera which I’m very much used to.

Is it just me that was dissapointed with Porto last night? Not that I hate Bayern Munchen but I wanted a Porto win just like I want ATM to win tonight.

Good to comment after a little while. Missed me,Rico? 😉

Good Morning to The Lady of the House and all fellow Gooners in residence.

Rico – “As for Moss, he can’t even control a tin of magic spray let alone a game of football!” Who’s the naughty country lass with the sharp tongue?

Thank you for starting my day of with a good chuckle. If you were a club chairman or manager you’d be on that antique Persian rug in the FA offices with some explaining to do and with a public act of contrition to make.

I think any new contract, pay as you play or not, for Abou the Eternal Crock are contingent on him reaching and maintaining fitness. Arsene does demonstrate loyalty to his players. It is a shame that many he has given opportunities to did not reciprocate.

  4. Canadian Gooner says:

Ginge – I don’t know what you’re referring to re Abou and the Owner and and I’m not sure I want to know. LOL

  5. Canadian Gooner says:

Headline from today’s London Evening Standard – Ten tonne fatberg cleared from sewer under one of Chelsea’s swankiest streets. I thought Chelski traded Frank Lampard.

Another headline from the same paper – Revealed: Tottenham set for £90m summer clear-out with nine players up for sale. It seems a number of London boroughs have waste management problems.

😀 😀 this made me laugh; Apparently, in an effort to look worldly and wise, Lohan posted one of those “inspirational quotes” in Arabic … along with the caption, “You’re beautiful.”

Problem is … the actual translation is, “You’re a donkey.”

  7. Joe says:

I wonder should I place a large bet on Villa to win the FA cup with the appointment of Moss of course the reason for he’s appointment could be is to make sure Arsenal win the cup. 🙂

  8. Canadian Gooner says:

Rico – I’d prefer to get Petr Cech, that is if Maureen Yo would be willing to sell to their nearest competitors.

  9. Micko says:

rico, Diaby will always have a special place in my heart, he was the first Arsenal player to have his picture taken in an Emirates seat back in 2005 before the stadium opened.

Why Diaby you ask……….you guessed it……..he was injured at the time, you couldn’t make it up !

  10. Micko says:

rico, the photo was in all the back pages at the time, he’s hardly got off his arse since !

I’d love to tell him to jog on this summer but I daren’t !

  11. Vegas goon says:

Good read again Rico. Diaby is a weird one IMO…seems Wenger keeps some players around for who knows why. Maybe he has a soft spot for the guy…pay as you play is OK I guess but I’m more concerned about the roster spot. Hopefully it won’t be wasted.

Lloris is a funny one too…he was Frances #1 but I saw Mandana (sp) play in goal against brazil…
I don’t remember if Lloris played for France during the whole WC?

  12. rico says:

    Thanks Vegas..

Pay as you play for diaby would make sense if it didn’t mean he’d occupy a squad place which someone better/fitter could fill..

But when does AW use 25 players in a season…. 😉

  13. joe says:

All the time Rico have you forgotten all our injuries
    😉
As we stand I think we have only used 22 -23 spots on the squad this season.

  14. allezkev says:

Sainsburys @ Dog Kennel Hill, and yes, it has turned a bit nippy…

Not a cloud in the sky though

  15. rico says:

    That many Joe? I’m surprised….

Bloody cold here Kev, even the chooks have gone to bed with a hot water bottle…. Lol

  16. Wavy says:

Yeh but.. What is the gossip?? Have we signed the new Billy Wright? Has Martin Peters come out of retirement to play for U21s? Or have we unearthed the new Gus Caesar?
I need to know, I have to satisfy my insatiable desire for nonsense!
    I can hardly contain myself.
Just popping out for an hour to order Lady Wavy’s birthday present!
    Catch up later!
