More lies, and more lies – Arsene Wenger. Mustafi back for Palace fixture.

Morning all.

It was bound to happen wasn’t it? After Mathieu Debuchy was claimed to have said that he and Arsene Wenger speak very little to each other, other than a polite ‘bonjour’ as their paths cross, the taller of the two Frenchman has categorically such goings on. ‘I speak to all the players’ he said, or something like that and it wasn’t his fault Debuchy was injured when Bellerin was out and had he not been, he have had more playing time… Take that Matty!

As for Man Utd making a bid for the right-back – absolute rubbish said Arsene.

Seriously, doesn’t it just prove that not all things ‘quoted’ really are true, well, not entirely. What, you didn’t know that? Sorry to disappoint…

Anyway, some great news from the once great manager this morning, Shkodran Mustafi is back fit and in the squad and I bet Laurent Koscielny is doing cartwheels knowing the best defender he’s had playing alongside him for a while now could be right back by his side as Big Sam and his team roll up at The Emirates on Sunday afternoon. Sadly, Kieran Gibbs is ruled out after being kicked on his knee and Theo Walcott remains on the sidelines too. Danny Welcbeck is looking lean and mean in training so hopefully we’ll get to see him back strutting his stuff real soon, maybe in the FA Cup against Preston. Apparently a few of our boys have colds, or in typically male fashion, Arsene says ‘flu’. It’s a cold Arsene, if they have flu, they’d be in bed, not waving a Kleenex around whilst jogging around the pitches at London Colney. Fingers crossed those who have been swigging Lemsip are back in good health by 4pm on New Years Day.

Arsene Wenger has been talking about the level of performances during the first half of the season and he believes it’s not been all that good, including his own team which is hard to argue with. Sometimes we’ve been superb as we were against Chelsea, yet in other matches, we’ve flattered to deceive. But we haven’t been alone and I don’t think I’ve watched many matches when after the game I’ve thought ‘wow, that was such a great and entertaining match’. Arsene reckons it’s possibly down to having so many really good managers in the league and the pressure is on them to ensure they don’t lose, another reason, which is one I agree with and that’s so many managers not only setup not to lose, they don’t try and win either and that’s so so boring, yet perhaps understandable if a club is flirting with relegation as one point can make all the difference come the end of May. One could say the same when fighting for the title, after all, couldn’t we have done with a point from both the Everton and Man City games?

Arsene reckons that’s all about to change though as his predicts the second half of the season might be better now that the new managers have had time to get used to the English game and adjust their tactics in order to get the best out of their players. Conte has proved that, Mourinho is on a good run as are Pep and Poch.

As for our dear Frenchman, well little changes as far as I can see but if when he suggests the standard of football is to improve during the second half of the season, he means Arsenal, then good. It needs to…

Hi Rico, good post, back at work today…

After all the fine talk, it would be heartening if Arsene could motivate his millionaires into giving us a half decent performance against Crystal Palace…

We always seem to do well against them, whoever the manager, so I’m optimistic, fool that I am… ?

    I’m here too!
I’ve got my quill out, and I’m just about to compose some ‘new truth’ that will be considered a ‘post truth’ story when it’s properly investigated!

Arsenal are actively pursuing a new centre forward, a new defender and a replacement for Oxlaide Chamberlain, who is going to Barcelona, not Liverpool.

There, there’s not a word of truth in any of that, or at least if there is none of it will be fulfilled during this transfer window!

    Dèja vu all over again.

Foggy here, a bit like my addled brain!

    Hello all.
Just shy of 2017 and let me just say I hope it’s a much better edition than 2016 on all levels.
It’s really been a prick of a year but my family and friends have our health, so it’s not so bad after all.
I hope you all enjoy a safe and healthy, happy 2017 and Arsenal will the League to top things off!!!

Happy New Rico and all on here.
Hope you don’t mind a new year joke.

Daughter comes home for the near year party.

“Where have you been all this time? Why did you not write to us, not even a line? Why didn’t you call?”
The girl crying replied, “Dad, I became a prostitute.”
“Whaaa!!? Out of here you shameless harlot! You’re a disgrace to this family.”
“OK, daddy. If that’s your wish. I just came back to give mum this luxurious fur coat, title deed to a ten bedroom mansion plus a savings certificate for £4 million.”
“For me little brother, this gold Rolex and for you daddy, the sparkling new Mercedes limited edition convertible that’s parked outside plus a membership to the country club and an invitation for you all to spend a fun New Years’ Eve on board my new yacht in the Riviera, and…”
“Now what was it ye said you had become, again?” says dad.
Girl, crying again, “A prostitute dad!”
“Oh! You scared me half to death, girl! I thought you said a Protestant. Come here and give your old man a hug!”
