More depart, Two in & Is there a reason to be optimistic about this coming season??

Morning all.

First off, this post is not directed and any particular fan, website or otherwise. So don’t start getting shirty if ‘the cap fits’.

Over the last eight seasons we have won nothing and its been the same old ‘battle for a top four place’ at the end of each season. Something that we have constantly managed to achieve.

Each June, we wait in hope for our club to sign players, not any old players but ones who will really turn the squad from a good one, to a really strong one, one that could finally challenge for the PL title. I’m not even saying to win it, just to truly look capable of being there or thereabouts come the end of the season, not one which is 15 points off the top by Jan/Feb.

It never really happened did it, in fact rather than signing players who would make a difference, we sold players who would go on to make a difference to either a rival or another European side.

Then it happened, our CEO stood up and make a bold and honest statement telling Arsenal fans something we had been so desperate to hear. We were out of the tough times financially and the good times were on their way. We didn’t need to sell anyone and we are ready to spend.

He, and the manager assured us that we’d be hitting the ground running in the transfer window and we’d see early signings.

Reasons to be optimistic?

Too damn right, I was over the moon, thanks Ivan I thought, thanks for letting us all know and finally telling us something so very positive.

Even the manager backed up Ivans words with his own promises.

Yaya Sanogo was signed early and that’s where it’s ended to date.

Our squad has always lacked depth, now we have cleared out so many players, it’s much less deep and four more younger players have now gone. Miquel and Yennaris are one their way to Leicester on loan, Aneke has rejoined Crewe on loan and Daniel Boateng has been released.

Who have we brought in to replace them?

No-one, well apart form a guy who has spent most of his time on the injured list and hasn’t got a clue about Premier League football. Not his fault I know…..

Reasons to be optimistic right now?

No, not me, not right now.

Hearing Arsene Wenger say that he doubts we will sign anyone before our Champions League qualifier smacks of negligence to me, the squad fought so hard at the end of the season to get into the top four, surely the manager would want to make it into the competition proper.?

It might all sound like constant moaning each and every day but it’s not. It’s real, this is what’s going on at Arsenal!

It’s about having been made promises, which right now feel more like lies, again.

I don’t blame Ivan, I blame the man who sits in front of the camera and talks to the nation of fans with an annoying grin on his face telling us a load of stuff that is boring and which we’ve mostly heard before….

All that’s left for me to do is hang onto a few words from Mikel Arteta about Suarez and other signings:

It will happen. I have no doubts about it. It takes time but I know the boss is working really hard on it, and the board as well. It will happen for sure.

I am very convinced but the great players normally come at the end of the transfer window. The clubs work hard to keep their best players and I think Arsenal will do well in the transfer window.

I think we are going to start the season with new faces. That is what we are all hoping for. That will give us a big boost and everyone is very positive.

We need to close the gap with the teams that are trying to win the titles. We have been too far in the last few seasons. We will start and see how it goes. We won’t be as far this season.

Reason to be optimistic?

I’m not convinced…..

Finishing with the gossip:

According to French news agency Ouest-France,  we have handed a two day trial to 26-year-old midfielder Alharbi El Jadeyaoui. Why? Well he’s meant to be very good and wanted by a number of top clubs. Call me an old cynic but surely a player is either good or he’s not by the time he gets to 26 years old?

Also on trial with us is Atlético Nacional’s 18-year-old midfielder Sebastián Pérez, he’s an under tall defensive midfielder…..

Omar Abdulrahman of Al Ain was due for trial as well, but it seems his current won’t release him.  Al Ain deputy chairman Rashid bin Mubarak Al Hajri had this to say:

Have we had an offer from Arsenal for him to come to train? Then yes. We’ve also had offers from Spanish teams, and other teams also, but the player will decide ultimately. We got a lot of offers for Omar. If he finds the right environment, then we will be very supportive.

In other words, who pays most…

The Suarez story continues to make headlines, I guess it will until another club sign him because there is no chance he will stay at Liverpool. Not after snubbing his own fans yesterday…

That’s it for another day…..

  1. Adam says:

    Nice post Rico.
The winds of change are blowing through the Arsenal community it would seem.
I still have high hopes that Uncle Arsene will pull 3 out of the bag. (He said with a rather strained grin on his face).

  2. tsgh says:

    Morning again,

    Good read…

I think we can all keep it real and be optimistic at the same time because that is after all how humanity have gotten thus far.

All fans predicting our timely demise is not going to make a stubborn AW change his mind. Nero comes to mind…

Anyways, Suarez played in the testimonial but missed Stevie G’s testimonial dinner. I am optimistic about a marquee signing even more now so.

I think even Boro i.e AW’s lap dog will not stand for AW to release 27/28 players without decent cover.

    An optimistic video:

  3. Scravaldio says:

Do you not think that if AW fails to make big signings then its time for him to go?
We have to start thinking very seriously aput the entire board and AW going as this is a bridge made of lies too far!
Once again AW has gone into the window with no plan and is now backed into a corner.
We have to biy Suarez which will cost the earth.
If Gustavo doesn’t come then we really are scrwed because fellani doesn’t even want to play DM.
CB should be staright forward but is anything straight forward with AW anymore?
I hope he signs the players we need but if he doesn’t then its time to go and if Stan F-ing Kroenke doesn’t like it then he can do one too.
I have always stood by AW but this is too far even for me its fly or die time and right now he is dying and he’s taking us down with him. SPEND OUR MONEY NOW.

  4. rico says:

Thanks Ts, not all can and I’m one of them, however, if Wenger shows a bit of passion in the TW in the next couple of weeks, I am sure my optimism will return.

  5. southyorkshiregunner says:

Great post on Le-Grove this morning
Points to Didier Drogba perhaps saving our season. Not wrong. If we’d have won 2-0, 2-0 at the weekend we could have been looking at nil reinforcements and more stupid Wenger comments.

    Alharbi El Jadeyaoui?
    Omar Abdulrahman ?

Good god. We are The Arsenal.

We want real fckng Tier 1 players from western Europe or South America.

  6. tsgh says:

My only slight concern is that AW has allowed Gerv to leave without requesting Lamela and adding £10M for Erik Lamela. Maybe AW did but that was turned down.

A 21 y.o who has scored 20 goals in 60 appearances for Roma must surely be decent especially in the best defensive league in the world.

  7. southyorkshiregunner says:

Lamela? thats who Osvaldo kicked up the arse for not passing to him ….. Morning Ginge….. Rico, Adamsky

  8. rico says:

Welcome Scravaldio – I’d like to think he wouldn’t be offered a new contract..

But I’d like to think Wenger wouldn’t be so stupid to not sign players…

  9. tsgh says:

Scravaldio so you are happy to have a 5th choice CM from Bayern? Albeit he played 22 times last season but he was replaced by a 24y.o who had never played in the cL before last season?

10 caps for Brazil from 2011 with 4/5 coming this summer and all of a sudden he is a DM god?
Luiz only got in the Confed squad because Ganso and Ramires were not fit…

Its the same as people calling for Ashley Williams but do people know he committed the 2nd highest defensive errors that lead to goals last season? People will slam me for stats again they have seen him on MoTD on a 5 minute segment; They will even say he is better than TV…

    Morning Syg…

  10. Adam says:

Morning SYG. You are right. That Le Geove post painted a nightmare scenario close to the one I have suggested but with a slight ray of hope. It was really a very realistic scope on things.
But seriously, it is absolutely scandalous that Wenger hasn’t done a thing. I agree that he should have know byJanuary this year what we were likely to need in terms of new players. When a club only seem to be able to do one thing at a time, perhaps that tells us that the collective effort is not flourishing.
Rico, you’ve got me worried now.

  11. Induct says:

Wenger should buy or else risk an unconducive emirate atmosphere thru’out d season. He deserves it even d players want more signing irrespective either they retain their place in d first 11 or not. Wenger buy its our money not urz

  12. C Hills says:

    Morning rico and all.

Should I be first to accuse you of moaning and dooming rico? :). Anyways, no one in their right mind will blame you especially after all the comments by the club.

  13. Bradster says:

Who would you suggest for CB ts? I liked your idea of Floures to replace Merts but I doubt the Swans will sell. Not many other top class CB’s with prem experience available and would need to be able to pair with Vermaelen and Kos.

What I like about Williams is that he’s powerful, quick and can pass reasonably well.
It will also allow a higher line which will help us close the gaps as I’ve said before.

  14. tsgh says:

When has AW never made signings in the summer though in the 16 years he has been with us? He might get an Inamoto or TH14 but he still makes signings.

Yes he may have made a super market style dash 2 summers ago but even before the 8-2 mauling; he had been for Cahill and MA08 but then he denied he did not even know who Arteta was…

I love digging myself a deeper hole. lol

  15. Alistair Jackson says:

You’ve got to think something is going on. Surely? In 53 years of supporting Arsenal, I cannot ever recall us clearing the decks to the extent that we have this summer. If we don’t replenish the ranks, we are going to be ridiculously short this season and I can’t believe that Wenger/Gazidis would allow that.

If Yennaris and Miquel do go to Leicester, we are essentially down to two fit centre backs, with cover from Sagna – and I want Sagna playing at right back, while he is fit. Somebody must be coming in.

I am hoping it is just the mechanics of buying players, which are a bit like house sales. You can get stuck in a chain. For example, it could be that Pool are waiting to secure a replacement for Suarez before they let him go (Arsenal seem to be very confident that they will get him) etc.

PS: I know that Man City just go out and buy players and you can always do that if you are prepared to pay way over the odds but most clubs don’t do that.

  16. Bradster says:

Wenger also sold a star player or two every season since I can’t remember when. Problem is that his magic has worn off to find gems and we have no stars left to sell.

  17. Scott from Oz says:

    Bradster, how can suggest that?
    Jack.
    Santi.
    Kozzer.
3 quick ones that would get a gig in most the around the world.
Funny, but a few months back plenty were suggesting that the players we got rid of were probably more important as those signed.
Well, that deed is done but now very quickly forgotten.
It is not the last day, so let us smash Wenger in a few weeks time, hey?

  18. tsgh says:

Hi Brad, I think some of my comments do not come out as it should do… I rate Ashley Williams, I just do not agree he is better than all our players apart from Kos as some fans and pundits say. I even mentioned that e should get him last summer because I believed based on stats and history that no club in history has won a trophy without the national of that country in either CB position.

So as an example $hitty won a title with Richards or Lescott partnering Kompany. Nastatic is better than the former but with both non-British players in CB positions we even hard a better defensive record than $hitty.

Hi Dna, I rate Gustavo but people think he is better than MA08 and he should just walk into our team. Why is it that Bayern never play Bastian and Gustavo together against top 8 sides in the Bundesliga unless Martinez is injured? In my view it is because he does not chase down the ball. He is as slow as the BFG too imo…

For Brazil without Paulinho and Oscar working themselves off Gustavo will look like a younger Gareth Barry.

So it depends on the whole balance of the team in my opinion based on observation of team’s setup at the top level.

For example Pirlo is weaker and slower than Arteta but he has Vidal, Asamoah working very hard for him in midfield.

At national level both Montolivo and De Rossi are like Ramsey, they are not flashy nor can the split a defense with a pass but both work hard top cover Pirlo’s deficiencies.

At United, Cleverley and the rest of the United squad make sure that Carrick is not stretched…

  19. Adam says:

At the end of this transfer window I see three possible outcomes.
    1. Well, it took a long time, but Arsene has done the business and with this squad we can really go forward and challenge.
    2. Well, he made a late signing or signings, but we all know that it won’t be enough.
    3. I cannot believe we went through that whole bloody transfer window and only signed Sanogo on a free. We are looking forward to a season of frustration and pain. Why did I believe him, again?

  20. tsgh says:

😀 Scott my only fear is Syg….lol

When he says he rates Gervinho I have no comeback for that one.lol

  21. tsgh says:

I honestly think; Moyes making unnecessary moves for CF04 just because we inquired about Wooney earlier in the window slowed down the transfer activities.

That is just going by Wooney’s twitter message to JW10..

  22. Breezy says:

    Hi all,

Good post Rico.i don’t think that is whine at all, in fact I think most of us are in the same boat.
For me the key word in the post is ‘negligence’. The club knows what we need to do improve but seem almost apathetic and seems to dragging it heels (at least from the outside) when things really need to get done. The fact that the spuds are busy breaking their transfer on a weekly basis also adds to the doom and gloom.

  23. Adam says:

Rico. Because you reassured me that we would Carpe Diem and now I sense doubt creeping in.
Which of my 3 options seems most likely to you?

  24. rico says:

Thanks Breezy. I truly believe the board and CEO know and are trying to do something about but there is an obstacle in their way…

  25. devilgunner says:

That £5 is making you feel slightly depressed Rico.

Keep Calm. Dont let the heat get to you.

Good Morning Lady, Sir, Gentlemen and Ladies.

So we have given another trial to another tongue twister. How many are we going to give trials to?

Perez is ok. I think he will be signed. But a 26 year old tongue twister that not even Adam might get the hang of is mind boggling.

Cant we give a trial to Messi???

  26. Scott from Oz says:

I received my away shirt yesterday….they look even better up close.
Today, a signed Charlie George ’71 shirt.
    It’s like Xmas 🙂

  27. ktr7 says:

Good read rico.i cannot blame you for moaning since i feel the same way.i can only hope arteta knows something is really going on and it isn’t just PR.after all not so long ago there were rumours that arteta was speaking to suarez about schools, houses and stuff in london.

Ts you are bang on at 10.48.Gustavo isn’t the silver bullet fans think he is.Arteta’s critics say he is slow and lacks mobility;well Gustavo is the same.when he and schweinsteiger play together this became very clear.if we are to buy him we’ll have to restructure our midfield to accomodate him and i doubt that will happen.if we are going to sign a midfielder expect someone who is a more mobile and dynamic version of arteta.

  28. rico says:

I am sure you have sensed doubt creeping in me for a while Adam.

Ivan got my hopes up, I forgot there is a stubborn old fool in his way…

  29. devilgunner says:

Breezy if seeing the spuddies break their transfer records every week puts you down then you must have had a really miserable life the past 19 years. 😆

  30. tsgh says:

I agree with you Dna at 10:42… but will he want to be a bit part player especially if he will cost £15M and want 80k plus?

Its the same as MF of Everton, all pundits say he is our answer in defensive midfield but none of his managers trust hi to be a DM both at club level and national level…

Earlier last season it was about how AW was dumb not to have signed Diame because he scored for WHU against Chelsea and us but those same people had forgetten that he was released by Wigan of all people for being not very good.

Another example is Scott Parker, Wrightand the rest of the expert pundits said Harry was more clever for buying him whilst AW went for MA08… how many games has Scott Parker missed for the spuddies due to injury.

Another example is Enrique the lb of liverpoo’d how many injuries and starts has he had since joining the dippers.

Then there is Berbatov, the list can go on and on…

  31. rico says:

    Thanks Kt…

Personally speaking, I think Fellaini would be a fantastic addition to our first team, just a shame that AW doesn’t seem to feel that way.

Unless he has been ringing Mikel Arteta of course 😉

  32. Scott from Oz says:

Not the hope Adam, it is having that hope raws down your throat lol
I still have it, and I always will, but it gets tougher.

  33. Scott from Oz says:

And the reason I have hope???
Seany banged one in V the u/9 squad last night .
Still, in 10 years time I hope to be defending the Arsenal policy of buying a 17 y.o. From Australia 🙂

  34. tsgh says:

The question/answer is quite simple; will AW and the board bite the bullet to buy the players that will make the difference to the team?

De Rossi is old but will cost £20M etc but will make a huge difference for people like Frimps, JW and Ramsey to learn from…

Khedira though a party boy can make a huge difference to our team.

Lavezzi will make a difference to our front 3 but he may be on the dwarf side.

Chico will make our defense superior.

Ayew will give us the goals and creativity than Poldi is not quite cut to give us on the lhs.

Even Ince will make a difference… at least he has the fight in him…

Pastore will improve us too… Even sicknote Gourchuff will split defence with his vision.

Then there is Wooney… he is not WC but his name alone and shirt sales will make a huge difference but will IG tell AW that if AW told him Wooney as too expensive?

Are those players financially sensible to invest in?

  35. tsgh says:

Scott I am pleased for Sean… just cut me a cheque when he makes it I have his stats already prepared… lol

  36. tsgh says:

Why was Moyes after CF04 in the first place when he had Kagawa btw? I guess spending £18M on a bit part WC player who probably paid part of his transfer fee with shirt sales alone is genius…

  37. devilgunner says:

All was well this morning Ginge.

Then I went to take the car out of the garage. Bang. Flat Battery.

Then I had to go and buy a new one. The heat took its toll and went to my head especially when I had to fork out E60.

I come home to relax and read Rico’s post. And voila. I got more depressed when I read that we were giving a trial to a new tongue twister from the french lge 2 that has not played a single game in the top flight.

I do not know if I have hit my head with my saucepan. Must have amnesia.

  38. ktr7 says:

In top level games the 2 holding midfielders have become even more vital nowadays.when you see two top teams match up its often a likely scenario that the duo make the difference.for example when Bayern played against Barca last season Javi Martinez was their best player in both legs.this is because he provided an element of surprise by making very intelligent runs from deep zones that helped Bayern overwhelm Barca when going forward.when Barca tried to mark him he would alternate with Schweinsteiger in that role and as a result Barca did not know who to expect from that deep midfield region.

Diaby was excellent at this against liverpool and Yaya Toure regularly does this.Man city have now brought Fernandinho to play with yaya to ensure they have 2 mobile holding midfielders that can join the attack at anytime to provide that element of surprise.

Gustavo as good at defendind as he may be against top sides Bayern excluded him for this reason for a more rounded midfielder.it makes you more unpredictable when you have a dynamic duo in that zone.the key however is discipline.the ramsey/jack experiment did not work well but it was their 1st game together and they did not have the best understanding especially when defending.am sure AW will still work on it since it is the way forward.if the 2 midfielders have that chemistry its perfect and there is no need to have 1 guy just sitting there waiting to tackle.

  39. tsgh says:

Kt- about Gustavo… if you cast your mind back before we played Bavaria FC; Martinez had not played for a while as Gustavo was being given a ran of games… the moment they had to face us Javi was drafted in to ensure the likes of JW, SC19 and MA08 could not have an easy evening controlling play from midfield….

In the 2nd leg when JW was dropped for Ramsey, we completely dominated that same midfield who 2 weeks before had made us look like a league 2 team. But lack of quality or our so called better players again failing to turn up for big game costed us in the end…

I think that is why AW is keen to push the boat out for Suarez imho..

  40. ktr7 says:

Ts Moyes just wanted a big name imo.Cesc isn’t the CM that they need and would be more likelier to occupy one of the front 2 positions where they have Rvp/Rooney/Kagawa/Welbeck/Hernandez.he is just desperate for that ‘trophy wife’.I bet if lewandowski was available he would’ve tried to sign him too.

  41. rico says:

Ts – I suspect the board and Ivan would, but I’m sure Arsene Wenger would have serious nose bleeds at the mere thought….

  42. ktr7 says:

    Thanks scott.hope you are good.

Ts another reason why Wenger really wants suarez is that he not only works the centre region of the final 3rd but also the channels between FB/CB.this means he means he makes a variety of types of movements in these areas of the pitch.the PL statistics show he had the most touches of any player in the final 3rd.

If we have Suarez on board probiding those qualities we can get away without needing a top #10 since suarez will be much more easier to find in the final 3rd than someone say like Higuain who remains quite central in matches and would require needle of the eye passes to him to score.we do not have cesc to do that.this will allow wenger to slowly groom wilshere for that role (my opinion) without expecting too much out of him immediately.

  43. Rosy Shaw says:

probably the most worrying of facts concerning this and previous transfer windows is the fact that over the course of our painful stagnation we have lost the ability to attract the kind of players all of us arsenal fans are dying to buy. we have become a club who’s image has nose dived from invincible to frankly, quite pathetic. i have no doubt that wenger is frantically trying to put together some new signings, but i believe a team of our current calibre is not talented, shiny or strong enough to compete with the attraction of the likes of chelsea, city, chelsea, utd, or many other european top level clubs. i am a supporter of financial sensibility, but i am not a supporter of allowing our legendary football club to become a laughing stock. after years of loyalty to wenger im afraid to say i believe the club needs a fresh start. regardless of any signings rushed in before the window opens again, regardless of retaining champions league football again next season (IF either of those even happen), mr wenger has spent 8 years missing his targets, and no manager in any other firm anywhere in the world would get away with that. this is why i believe the board in general have no desire to really change the path that arsenal are on and its humiliating to invest so much time money and emotion into a club in which only half of its staff really want the same things as us little ignored fans. only when we have a new attitude, and new head staff, will we be able to attract the kind of players we deserve and turn it all around. until then, we will just be lied to and thats not good enough for me!

  44. tsgh says:

I ideally both Hig and Suarez would have been great.

Hig is good for games like the one against QPR when we have a lions share of possession but we fail to score because we ‘over pass’ in the 18 yard box. Hig only has one thing on his mind when he is in the 18 yard box … that can of course be deemed as not putting the team first unless his attempts ends up in the back of the net

  45. tsgh says:

Last season AW made some choices that made me think he may be reverting back to his old self but…

An example was missing out on Zaha who has that stereotypical AW buy written all over him but AW stayed away. On the other hand he has not shown any interest in Ince at all… a left footer who can play on either flanks and is English c’mon…

The fact that MF is part African and French but AW has not shown any interest baffles me too…

  46. rico says:

Welcome Rosy, always good to have another lady in the house..

Good comment by the way, one that I personally struggle to disagree with…

  47. ktr7 says:

I must say poldi’s form is really beginning to worry me.bar that left foot shot he doesn’t seem to be contributing much more in attack.Couple that with theo’s form and suddenly it doesn’t look good.

  48. Rejoice says:

Morning all. Southyorkshiregooner, so you think Arsenal standard players can only come from europe and south america and not elsewhere? Why dont we reserve our judgments till at least Dec and see how the team performs. Of course, there is no tabas about the sort of players we are clamoring for. I am not after big name players nor heavy spending. All I demand from AW is to buy players who will meet the needs in the team. If they are free get em, if they cost 200, 000k or 40m, get em. I strongly believe that new faces will arrive, but may not be the ones we expected.

  49. Adam says:

Welcome Rosy. An excellent comment. I have been concerned by this for a while. If you are a top player, are Arsenal an attractive proposition still?

  50. Jeeva Jaan says:

I think our scouts are looking for people who are not under contract. We need to buy suarez or rooney, I would like to have both of them. Then fellaini and a defender ashly williams or I am leaving it to wenger, if he want to unearthen some league 1 gem.

  51. Adam says:

The only point I might disagree on is that I personally believe that the board do want success and are prepared to spend big money on great players. The sticking point is Wenger I think.

  52. devilgunner says:

Angers pulled the player from their clash with Istres at the weekend, in order to make sure he stays injury free for his training stint with Arsenal.

A quick and technical left-footed play-maker, El Jadeyaoui can play in central midfield and out wide, meaning he could be a replacement for Gervinho, who has agreed on an £8million move to Roma.

Angers are thought to want around £3million to part with their star man.

So sell someone who falls on his feet for 8million and buy one for 3million. I hope he manages to stay on his feet at least.

  53. tsgh says:

I would really appreciate folks views and opinions of this:

If every summer after finishing 2nd or doing a double your best players and the highest paid player in the league were angling for a move away, what they would have done differently?

Without hindsight should we have sold to Roman, spent what we did not have or do what we did
No one could forecast the arrival of Roman nor Shitty…

  54. tsgh says:

Rejoice I believe Syg’s concern has got nothing to do with origin but more to do with the Afcon in Jan/feb….

  55. Scott from Oz says:

Adam, we can still attract top players, but do we chase them?
I reckon that has been the real question.

  56. devilgunner says:

Blimey!!!! how do I get to know if he is good or not Lady??

not a young un but an unheard of 26 year old.

If he turns out to be another Kozzer then kudos to AW.

But I feel we have another park on our hands.

my legs are turning to jelly.

I need a strong double one.

  57. rico says:

Ah, he’s the 26 year old, oops devil, i thought you meant the kid…

I doubt very much a 26 year old would need a trial if he was good…

  58. tsgh says:

He looks far better than Gerv on YouTube against weaker opposition…lol

He was meant to be the next Zidane like most North Africans from France but he chose to play for his native than France after representing France at all levels up until u-21 level. His career nose-dived after that as Frimps career has gone after choosing Ghana over England…

  59. tsgh says:

Rico, what I meant was PV04 was winning trophies and getting paid more than any player in the league before 2004 but he wanted out since 2000

  60. Rejoice says:

Stubborn old fool? Now that’s the kind of language that sends me away. There is no basis to insult someone bc he chooses to do things his way. Anger, in most cases, is the result of things not going our. I want needful signings, but the fact that has not happened would not make me resort to insulting anyone.

  61. ktr7 says:

I really hate Adrian Durham.how dare he make a mockery of our £40 mil +£1 bid.he even called it classless.to my knowledge only Torres has cost more than that in the UK.i don’t even know how some people get paid to give such s**t views.

  62. Judge me in May says:

This Wenger can’t do wrong obsession is very unhealthy!
I swear he is like God or something to some people.. You know that’s how war
    Starts..

  63. W.A.T.H says:

Scott what you been going moonlighting on LG…?

You were mentioned on there the other day as a doomsayer and an anti Wenger man… Clearly mentioned on LG, Scott and the likes just come on here and slag off Wenger, so now we know what you been up to whilst telling us your w/p was giving you shit..!

  64. GoonerNW5 says:

Hi all at Highbury House. Read your posts everyday and felt it was time to say hi.
Just a few questions that I and many Arsenal fans would like answered.
Why has Arsenal and Arsene allowed so many players to leave without replacements?
What has happened to our much talked about youth system?
Why can Arsenal not attract quality players?
Why can Arsene not see the deficiencies in our team / squad?

At the very least Arsenal need a ST, DM, CB, GK, and a whole lot of new kids, squad back up players to replace the 14 and counting players that have either been released, loaned or sold.

It is no longer a case of ridding the club of dead wood, it is becoming a scenario of not even having a squad of 25 players.

The club, and Gazides in particular promised that transfers would arrive and arrive in good time to gel with the squad. The team would be able to hit the ground running and take advantage of the strong finish to last season.
One last question to finish off!
Is it now the case that having sold the silverware we are now selling the cupboard as well?
There is no excusing the way the club is being ruined by incompetence and negligence.
Hope my post is not too long, LOL
    GoonerNw5

  65. W.A.T.H says:

Judge me… The ones who seem to follow obsessively are the ones that think AFC was formed in 1996…!

  66. W.A.T.H says:

Welcome GNW5, nope your comment is hardly long at all and some very good questions and points. Most of your questions should be aimed at the manager though… All we could do here is give you individual opinion on your questions and then am sure you’ll get many different answers and perspectives…!

  67. GoonerNW5 says:

    Thank you W.A.T.H
I realise my questions are rather rhetorical and should really be aimed at the management of the club, but they refuse to acknowledge that we the fans have real concerns about the direction of the club.
    Just venting my frustrations.
    Thanks for indulging me. LOL

  68. Scott from Oz says:

Wath, you know i would never lower myself to read the shit from that mob of scum.
    Funny comment though 🙂

  69. Scott from Oz says:

Wath, on your 1996 comment, i find the contrary to be true.
Most that jumped on the Arsenal bandwagon during that period seem to expect Arsenal should just show up and win trophies.

  70. W.A.T.H says:

I thought you would enjoy Scott………….. Always knew you a wenger slayer…!

No worries GNW5, as said mate your questions are very pertinent and very topical. The club never really go public with anything do they and rightly so in my view I like the fact we try and do things as quietly as possible but the fact we’re taking so long is both frustrating and irritating…! It causes conflict amongst fans who point fingers it makes us wonder if it’s all hot air and bullshit yet again from the club about buying players and if so then who is to blame..?
I say that for all the penny pinching and looking to save funds players brought in during mid July have a good month to bed in and get used to their new surroundings and team mates, I would say common sense and we do have the funds so why are we faffing…? your guess is as good as mine..!

  71. W.A.T.H says:

Scott, it’s about the whole jcl wenger mob that arrived post 96… yes they are very impatient and the ones moaning but also the very same ones with this blind obsession…! Again just my opinion but that’s how I see it.

  72. Scott from Oz says:

Maybe different here to there Wath…different perspectives as we have touched on before.
Anyway, let us cross our collective fingers that Wenger gets the players we need to really challenge.
I am off for the night.
    Later, guys.

  73. rico says:

Night Scott, afternoon to everyone else.

Sorry you were offended Rejoice, but I thought I was being quite polite..

  74. GoonerNW5 says:

    Thanks again W.A.T.H
I need a nice cup of tea and a lie down until 2nd of sept.
Hopefully things will have happened by then!
    BFN
Like Arnie said I will be back, LOL

  75. W.A.T.H says:

GNW5, why do you get a lie down and a cuppa and the rest of us have to get irritated and frustrated….. Apparently ArtetaKnows….! So that’s something to keep our hopes up..!
Hope to see you back again soon..!

  76. tsgh says:

What is happening now in my view is a continuity if the Cashley Cole saga…

DD and Ken were firmly in charge then but they thought taking a versatile William Gallas plus cash was better business than offering 5k a week more for Cashley to stay…

Some fans can blame AW as much as they want but without having inside knowledge we can only form meaningful opinions based on history…

At that is how wars are won and nations were firmed by second guessing and studying past occurrences.

  77. Adam says:

KT. Let’s face it. If you have been dealt the hand in life that Adrian Durham has, perhaps it is no surprise that you are sick, bitter and twisted. Have a look at the sketches of him by his ramblings, then look up a genuine recent photograph. Within those differences lie about 20 years and 8 stone.
If ever there was an inconsequential non-entity, oxygen thieving waste of space on this planet, it is Adrian Durham. Personally I would hate him to say anything nice about Arsenal as his vile and disgusting endorcement would somehow infest the club. Let him live in his spite and vomit-filled World of nastiness and stupidity and just take one last look at his bloated and puss-filled body, then rejoice that you are not him. Adrian Durham has been put on this earth to remind us what it is like to be human and decent. He is the breathing embodiment of all that is foul.
    Allegedly.

  78. potter says:

you sure that it was D.D. that decided not to keep his word on Cole ? My info was that St Danny moved the goalposts to undermine Dein . before he had him removed. Still water under bridge as they say.

typed on my mobile as laptop not loading to this site only everything else is working fine. Strange.

  79. Rejoice says:

Adam, to call a person ‘fool’ where I come from is insultive and disrespectful. A global forum like this demands acceptable language. Express opinion without offending people. Such derogatory use of words chased me away from LG and justarsenal.

  80. rico says:

Rejoice, it was me who called Arsene a stubborn old fool and as I said, I am sorry you found that offensive, but where I live, that is very tame to call AW just that.

Trust me, it could be a lot worse…

  81. tsgh says:

Potter, I do not know for sure but DD sold it to us as a better deal. As you said it may be water under the bridge but in my view what is happening now is what AU says was sold to Stan in 2007.

CoCu did not come our way when Petite left because it did not make financial sense allegedly.

RVP left for the same reason Liam left 30 or so years ago…

  82. allezkev says:

    Afternoon Gooners/AKB’s/Doomers…

    Very good, heartfelt post Rico…

A lot of sense Rosy Shaw…

Hiya Adam, are you buzzing with anticipation for the Villa game….
    Or just resigned???

  83. W.A.T.H says:

Having had a wonderful cuppa and a whole packet of country slices I’m back…

AK, have you found Rooney yet…?

Afternoon Ts… who’s to say some people don’t have a little inside knowledge of what goes on, doesn’t mean they going to broadcast such info although many like to sound off as if they do know but I think ones that have a heads up keep it very much to themselves..!

I think you need to get out an rejoice a little….!

  84. W.A.T.H says:

Liam left to win things Ts, Rvp went for more money…! lucky enough he just managed to win something as well.

  85. Adam says:

Hi Kev. I am counting the hours to the Villa game and have my scarf washed and my rattle greased with the drippings of the Mangal’s griddle. COYG’s I shall shout at the top of my voice as the team takes to the field though I shall regret not having the presence of Chamakh and Gervinho on the bench. Purely as impact subs you understand.

  86. W.A.T.H says:

Yes Adam nutty as a fruitcake… No comment necessary from you thank you…! 😀

Mr Kipling makes exceedingly good cakes don’t you know…!

  87. Bradster says:

That’s funny Rejoice, you’re offended on Wenger’s behalf? I doubt he knows you and definitely won’t care that one person of many fans thinks he’s a stubborn fool.

  88. Adam says:

Funny story about Giggs and Ferdinand having the hump with Rooney wanting to move and destabilising the team. Yes, that’s Giggs who had an affair with his brother’s wife and Rio Ferdinand, banned for skipping a drug’s test, criticising Rooney because he doesn’t fancy another spell playing for Moyes and fancies a new challenge.
Looking the looming and disconcerting figure of the odd Ferdinand these days, it strikes me that if he had a huge sickle and a hooded black coat he would make the perfect Grim Reaper.

  89. W.A.T.H says:

Adam…. Don’t be rude to poor old Ferdi….. A pillar of the community..! As for the sister in law shagger..! Enuff said…!

  90. frednerk says:

    Afternoon Rico & All,
Cat and mouse or is poker wengers playing,
we now have the wenger valuation games,
    taking place.
Why is this season we have loads of money,
and as the club are saying the good times,
    are just around the corner.
Why was this not explained to Rvp(23million)
chicken feed(no offence rico) compared to 40 million=£1,
    to us now.
I hear the buzz around the training ground,
    is reaching fever pitch(no pun).
All the players are sh-t scared to ask wenger,
    who is going for.
In my honest opinion wenger runs the Arsenal,
    End of.

  91. allezkev says:

Sorry Wath, I’m trying to do a bit today, but it’s still slow…

Mate, you gotta get over this fixation with Rooney.
    He ain’t coming to Arsenal…

Suarez is my only hope and maybe your mate Cesc in 12 months time…

Some of the players were being linked to, sound like players off of the Marshes on a Sunday…

    I fcukin give up… 🙄

  92. tsgh says:

Luis Suarez has not travelled with the rest of his teammates to Norway as the player is suffering from a convenient ‘foot’ injury.

Ha ha ha … father christmas does exist….

  93. allezkev says:

Adam, that is quite a picture you paint, of the Villa game…

I almost feel as if I am there already, and not at London Bridge Stn…

I must admit, that I am in admiration of your rattle, is is quite a huge implement… 😉

Have you shown Rico your rattle?

  94. tsgh says:

So Andy Carroll, Downing, Aquilani, Henderson, and J.Allen cost approximately £100M and the dippers finished 14 points behind their 4th place rival Arsenal… ha ha ha

  95. potter says:

Ts I doubt that once the deal was done he could say much else. He would have been extremely foolish to butt heads with the board because he would have known that he was under pressure. Its an open secret that his eelationship with Fiszman and Hill Wood was not good, it would have been suicide to bring it out in public.

  96. tsgh says:

PHW- We couldn’t have a better man at the helm than Chips, he’s absolutely first-class. I’ve known him for years, he was actually my boss at Hambros Bank. I was delighted when he came on the board, he’s been a fan of the Club since he was in short trousers.
There are huge sums of money involved in football now and Chips certainly understands the world of finances better than most – he was a director of the Bank of England and has worked in finance all his life. He has a very good grasp.

  97. tsgh says:

I am not blaming DD at all, Potter. I am just reporting what was reported. My point was that someone thought making finacial decisions was more important than keeping Cashley…

Unfortunately, I do not have inside knowledge of the clubs dealings like some fans…

A year so ago who I was making a transition from an old ‘profession’ where I had to keep in contact with a few individuals some of whom ‘handled’ people ‘working’ in hospitality at 2 or 3 of the big clubs in London for non-footballing reasons… I did get some inform example on a supposed discord at higher level but I do not mingle in such worlds anymore so…

  98. Wavy says:

Suarez – I think Wenger. Is treating him as per the grey badger to manure last year. Vis. This is his swan song, his last year in management and he wants to win the Epl, with suarez he has a better than half a chance of doing so, as per old rednose did when he bought our fallen hero. More players he doesn’t really want because the new man will want to bring in his own favourites and will want a big cash pot to enable him to do so. Wenger, ever the thoughtful and well prepared prof is just having a last tilt at the windmill! Suarez is the man, this year.
The Evening Standard reckon he is still in with a shout of going to unReal. Can’t see it myself, it’s Arsenal or no team for him. His behaviour to his current employers is reprehensible. He is presently engineering a position that leaves his continued presence at the dippers untenable, no matter what brenda thinks. Metaphorically Suarez is biting brenda’s bottom and will continue to do so until he draws blood. He won’t be a Liverpool player by the time his suspension is completed. Hopefully the ‘nasty nipper’ will be playing for us and nobody else.
Despite his faults and personality defects he is a bloody good footballer! And don’t we need him?

  99. southyorkshiregunner says:

Hello everyone…. Been working over in Scunthorpe since 10:00am.

Twitter has beenmad with the Suarez conspiracy

  100. tsgh says:

Isn’t that the difference between a manager and a head coach?

So Pep is a head coach and not a manger at FC Munchen whilst his predecessor Jupp Heynckes was a manager. Jose was a head coach the first time round but is a manager now…

With the swampies Santini/Jol/Ramos were all Head Coaches whilst ‘arry was a Manager.

AVB is a head coach but not a manager per se even though most head coaches are termed managers even though they might not actually have managerial responsibilities.

At WBA Clarke is a head coach and not a manager.

At Swansea Brenda was Head coach whilst at Liverpool he is termed a manager.I guess that is why he is so clueless outside the technical area.

Some say the difference is only for legal and employment reasons whilst others say Manager is someone that takes care of everything and a Coach just focuses on how the team train and play .

I guess it is all bollox… lol

  101. southyorkshiregunner says:

    Hello everyone.
Been working over at gym and there’s no connection,
Twitter is mad with the Suarez conspiracy.
Wenger’s biggest mistake was letting Ashley Cole leave. If he wanted Gallas he should have bought him, but kept Cole.

  102. tsgh says:

    Share the conspiracies Syg…lol

Brenda Rodgers last year explaining the difference in his role at Livepool as compared to Swansea.
‘I make the final choice, subject to the financial backing of FSG. That was evident in pre-season when the Americans refused to sign Fulham’s Clint Dempsey as they believed he was over-priced for a then 29-year-old. Dempsey subsequently joined Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur.’

  103. tsgh says:

If our bnoard and Aw can’t outsmart the dizzy dippers at Anfield then… phew

Liverpool honcho Brendan Rodgers likes to talk in parables. He’s very much the Jesus of middle-management-style football coaching. Here are his greatest hits…

    1. ”It was a perfect away performance, apart from the first 10 minutes.”

    2. “I’ve always said that you can live without water for many days, but you can’t live for a second without hope.”

    3. On Luis Suarez: “He is a real warrior of spirit.”

    4. “My biggest mentor is myself because I’ve had to study, so that’s been my biggest influence.”

    5. “I am not a power freak.” (We think the lady doth protest too much!)

    6. “I started coaching for one reason and that was to make a difference for people, not just as footballers but as human beings.”

    7. “When we have the football, everybody’s a player.”

    8. “You train dogs, I like to educate players.”

    9. ‘I think there’s three players who will let us down this year — the cause, the fight, everything – and I have written them down already in these three envelopes. Make sure you are not in one of the envelopes.”

10.”I use a quote with the players,“Per aspera ad astra”, which is Latin for ‘through adversity to the stars’.”

    11. “When you’ve got the ball 65-70% of the time, it’s a football death for the other team. We’re not at that stage yet, but that’s what we will get to. It’s death by football. You just suck the life out of them.”

    12. “Joe Allen is one of the most courageous players I’ve seen.

    13. “I will leave no stone unturned in my quest – and that quest will be relentless.”

    14. “I always say a squad is like a good meal – I’m not a great cook but a good meal takes a wee bit of time, but also to offer a good meal you need good ingredients.”

  104. rico says:

Ts – you are right about one thing, it’s all bollox 😉

Syg, I reckon Cole would have gone regardless, he’d been tapped up, offered mega amounts and that was enough for him. He need a lot of money to pay for all his text messages 😉

  105. stevepalmer1 says:

Evening all, Moaning Yes of course your moaning and you have good reason to. All supporters are wondering when the exodus is going to end and the the incoming coming if you know what i mean. IG told us that we have the money he told us there will be signings AW has told us he is working on it. Being an old Arsenal supporter i have heard a load of shit from these two men, but i understand that a new stadium costs money and i also understand that if you haven’t got a sugar Daddy to spend willy nilly then you have to do what you can afford. Those times have passed by, even the two story tellers can’t get away with, we can’t afford it any more. Sponsors have come on board and we are financially healthy, but we are also not stupid. The outgoings (players)or deadwood that a lot of supporters seem to like using, have been moved on, Wages have been saved and in some cases we have even made a few quid. I don’t know exactly how many have been wiped off the wage bill but that is what needed doing. Its been done and now we wait in anticipation of the new talent that Wenger is working on. So far we have Sanogo from the clips i have seen of him and the reports on him on his debut makes me feel that this guy will be a 20 million player within 2 years. a bold statment from a guy thats not good on stats. Wenger will get new signings of that i am positive many have said we are short of bodies but lets face it the ones that have gone you didn’t want to see in the team anyway. 70 million buys you one maybe two Marquee signings so i am not looking at to many superstars coming but Wenger is the expert and i have faith in him to do his best. The Arsenal faithfull usually support all tryers who give their all and Wenger in my eyes is the biggest tryer there is, he’ll get players in but whether they will all be superstars is another question but i know he will try. Still a way to go yet so no need to panic yet, If you still want a change of manager no matter what happens then pick someone that can do what Wenger has done over the years, you won’t find one i am certain. This time next year you will love him again. 🙂

  106. southyorkshiregunner says:

Hiya Ginge. Blogging on a moble is shite.
I need a pair of jamjar glasses to read comments!
Its as slow as Merts as well.

Strange one re: Yennaris and Miguel. Stranger still that they’ve not gone to Leeds rather than Leicester. McDermott tries to play a bit of football and Elland Road is an electric atmosphere.

  107. allezkev says:

    Hiya Rico….

Just having a refreshing cuppa next to Warren St tube….

    Roadworks, Roadworks, Roadworks, 🙁

  108. tsgh says:

Leeds would have been super for both young guys. But I bet we are asking for money for them too… our board are like vultures.. lol

Tell me about mobiles and touchscreens all that predictive texting drive me nuts… its all fun though…

A very very good post SP1 that should have been for tomorrows 😉

  109. allezkev says:

Well, if an ex-centre-forward like Sir Stevo ‘bigs up’ Sanogo, then I have to doff my hat in respect to the ‘Lion of the North Marsh’ and look forward to seeing our new signing….

  110. tsgh says:

Omojola so what was Gibson doing then?..

MF was just tasked to man-mark JW and Santi out of the game by Moyes. Moyes hasn’t got the intelligence to play 2 holding MF’s. lol

  111. allezkev says:

No Ginge, outside Sainsburys, opposite to Cafe Nero…

Don’t know Warrens tbh, I tend to get my sandwiches, when I get one, from the Piccolo Bar in Queen Victoria St, or Shepherd Market, where they do a wicked lasagne.
I always think of the Spuds whilst eating it… 😛

  112. rico says:

Hi Sp, you reckon this time next year I’ll love him again??

I’ll need to think on that one…. 😉

  113. rico says:

Omojola – imho, he’s a box to box bully, just what we lack.

Hi Kev, road works in London, surely not 😉

  114. tsgh says:

Warren’s is just opposite sainsbury’s adjacent to the Mac Donalds’s.

Next time you are in that area try finding Warren’s. Its an italian sandwich bar. The best salad and pasta in town imo…

I work from Euston Towers, 2 times a week so…

  115. stevepalmer1 says:

Evening Guys and Ladies. Sanogo is a goer AK, i really have faith in this guy, And as you said being an old CF i have watched this guy and he takes up good positions he looks good in every dept and he’s willing to mix it. If he gets the chances i think he will supprise a lot of people.

  116. Adam says:

Kev. I see that Cyrus Todiwala has opened a cafe in Victoria Park for Cafe Spice devotees. He might do that Salmon that Rico nicked off you.

  117. allezkev says:

Rico, I never stop marvelling at your ability to pluck original posts out of the air every day…

It’s one thing to lift stuff or cut & paste (as I was very good at 😉 ) but to do something original out of your own bonce, day after day, is quite a feat, respect to you…

  118. allezkev says:

Ok Ginge, thanks, I try to eat fruit as much as I can and drink water, tbh…

But I shall bear that in mind…

    Adam, that sounds excellent….

Yes, Rico was quite quick off the draw with my salmon…
But in truth, I did invite her to try it….
Great news though, another quality restaurant to visit eh?

  119. Adam says:

He has one in Heathrow too Kev.
I know. Salmon, lentils and a Nan. Excellent, although I don’t remember much about it after the second bottle of something fizzy.

  120. GoonerNW5 says:

    Hi all, Im Back
Thought I would add my tuppence worth to the Suarez saga!
Do we need him? I agree we need a world class striker but Suarez is too devisive IMHO. Do arsenal need a player known as the Racist Cannibal on the books? 40 million+ for a player who is banned for the first 6 games of the season! I for one do not want to see him playing in the famous red and white! What do you fellow Gooners think? Is it just me who does not want this loose cannon (no pun intended) at the club?

  121. rico says:

6pm comment Ts – were you present for the team talk given by Moyes?

Because you make it sound like you were….. 😉

  122. GoonerNW5 says:

Hi Adam I do not know if we could get someone like Lewandwski (not sure of the spelling) but if we bid 40 million+ for him it would make Dortmond think. It would also take a good wage package.

  123. GoonerNW5 says:

We could shake things up at Chelski if we put in a bid for Torres! And i think wenger could get him scoring again.

  124. rico says:

GNW5 – I couldn’t care less about his antics, in fact I’m beginning to think it was all about one thing – getting out of the dippers. He’s awesome and scores goals that we gooners dream of….

Sing him up I say, he’d be worth every penny..

And don’t forget, AW has said he would respect our clubs values if he joined us…. 😉

  125. GoonerNW5 says:

Hi Adam I know he is destined for Bayern but he is going to leave for nothing! No harm in putting in a bid and see what happens.

  126. Adam says:

You never know I suppose. Not for me though. I like the fact that Suarez is so unpleasant in so many ways. But, if Ronaldo is going to Man U I can see Suarez going to RM now. Who knows? This is what happens when you prevaricate for too long.

  127. rico says:

I’ll hold you to that Sp 😉

Me too Adam. For your sake 😉

I read somewhere that Torres has bought a place near to Arsenal….

Where is Malaga Gooner when you need him?

  128. rico says:

Didn’t we say this a while back Adam, if Bale goes to Real, and Ronaldo to Manure, Suarez would end up in Madrid 🙁

  129. Adam says:

Yes Rico. The bricks are looking as if they might be falling into place. Is it too late to get our Klingon back from Rome?
If Wenger messes this up he’s not gonna get any love from me SP. 🙂

  130. GoonerNW5 says:

    Hi Rico, Adam
Suarez is a mercenary who causes trouble wherever he goes. I know all footballers are mercenaries these days but Suarez is more mercenary than most! He would be looking for a dream move before we even got the shirt on his back.

  131. stevepalmer1 says:

Out of all the clubs, Chelsea has supprised me with a bid for Rooney under 30 mill, has the Russian clipped his wings. I would love Wenger to put a crafty little bid in and stretch Maureen just to see how clipped he is and if we won , what a signing.

  132. southyorkshiregunner says:

Suarez is only divisive NW5 to those affected by comments made from him. Whether he meant them in the way the press reported them is another question as is the question of “is he a racist?” To which the answer is NO.
Suarez is a world class forward who is a “win at all costs” type of guy. I want him here as I want us to be winners. I’d take anyworld class player.

  133. Adam says:

SYG. What about Grant Holt ? Kev and I thought he would be good with Chamakh. A sort of twin-pronged attack.

  134. GoonerNW5 says:

I agree southyorkshiregunner, Ie I would take any world class striker! But Suarez is to hot headed and has previous for Cannibalism. We would have to make sure he is well fed on match days!

  135. Adam says:

I am surprised that no club has moved for Maloney from Wigan. When they came late last season he ran the midfield show and we only got on top after he went off injured. I watched it with Kev and we were both really impressed with his work rate and skill.

  136. GoonerNW5 says:

Seroiusly though Suarez has missed half a season through bans since he has been at Pool. Could we rely on him?

  137. Adam says:

He still seems the best option to me but who knows what Wenger is thinking. His balancing act gets tighter every day.

  138. allezkev says:

With all due respect, why would Real Madrid get rid of Ronaldo and replace him with Suarez?????

    Doesn’t make sense to me….

  139. southyorkshiregunner says:

NW5 see how many shirts Suarez No. 11 sells… Hope you’ve ordered yours?

The club will knock out half a million in the first week.

  140. Adam says:

Internal politics Kev. Who knows what these people are motivated by?
There must come a time, soon, that Wenger has to put up or shut up.

  141. GoonerNW5 says:

Would Suarez be available for Champions league qualifiers? If yes then why not! Wenger has a good reputation for taking a chance on bad boys. And Suarez is good. My worry is Pool want to much for a player who has a 6 game ban still hanging over him.

  142. Adam says:

On a similar point, was Ashley Williams playing in Europe the other evening? Would that cup tie him?

  143. GoonerNW5 says:

BFN dinner time, I would not want to get too hungry in case the Cannibalism thing is catching. LOL

  144. stevepalmer1 says:

Adam, I understand what your saying, and i may change my mind on him too if he balls this window up. But Arsenal are changing the deadwood has been cleared the sponsors are in place new credit cards all beit Nigerian, but all he has to do now is get 3 or 4 signatures surly even with IG help he can’t balls this up. And your right of course there is more than 70 mill a lot more. 🙂

  145. Adam says:

Rico. You know, I am really not sure what Wenger is doing any more. Nothing would surprise me. Ba or some African, Morroccan, Algerian or Frenchie from the 2nd division.

  146. rico says:

Kev, they wouldn’t be, Bale will be his replacement…

But they wont recoup the £100 m for his purchase by selling Ronaldo

  147. rico says:

Good question Adam, he might be for the qualifier but not sure about the CL proper, if we got through but then I’m not sure europa counts …

    In other words, I haven’t a scooby doo 😉

  148. tsgh says:

Bale, Wooney, and Suarez are managed to get injured just before a pre-season game away from their local… hmmm… CF04 set a precedence. lol

  149. Adam says:

Steve. You know it’s this timescale that has me confused. Perhaps we are going to be waiting until after the qualifier now. The Nigerian credit card deal is funny isn’t it?

  150. Adam says:

Steve. In my wildest dreams I cannot see Wenger buying 3/4 world-class players and a great goalie. Even if I close my eyes.

  151. devilgunner says:

Alharbi El Jadeyaoui (born 8 August 1986 in Strasbourg) is a French footballer who plays as a midfielder for Angers.
    Career[edit source | editbeta]

On 13 July 2009, it was announced by Sky Sports that El-Jadeyaoui had joined English Premier League side Blackburn Rovers for a one-week trial. On 20 July 2009, Guingamp have signed the attacking midfielder from Stade Brest on a four-year deal.[1]

  152. Adam says:

Steve I have just had a 3-way text chat with Kev in London and Lee in Spain that was one of the funniest things ever.
Not sure I’ll be laughing in a few weeks though. 🙂

  153. Adam says:

Steve. I really hope I will, but seriously, do you think he will sign enough quality to make us real high level contenders? Tell the truth. 🙂

  154. Lee says:

People getting the hump because someone called Arsene a fool….well you sir are a cnut!
Suarez is just what we need but we need another two……Umbongo passed his medical so life’s sweet!

  155. stevepalmer1 says:

Adam the truth is, we have some really good youngsters they are getting better as we speak they are starting to imerge and they are starting to express themselves, i have high hopes for them. 3 buys of the right quality will solidify them. Yes i do believe Wenger will inject quality i really expect us to challenge for everything but it may take a few games to get the ball rolling, confidence will be key in those few weeks and Wenger will have his work cut out but yes i think he will do it and i think he will supprise us on who he buys.

  156. rico says:

Sp, I watched the kids on tour and I agree, many are getting better, one or two I suspect will make the squad – Serge for me for sure, but they are still young and their bodies aren’t quite ready yet imho. Serge is built like a brick outhouse and maybe he’ll be the one to make his breakthrough this season..

Of course that is only my view, I cannot back this up with any stats 😉

  157. Adam says:

I think I will dig out a movie for the evening. Night Rico and all. Later.
Oh and thanks for the hilarity Kev and Lee. 🙂

  158. frednerk says:

Last year wenger was looking for exceptional players only,
with the clear out thats going on,
Im a bit surprised by all these unknows, having trials.
Is it a smoke screen,or is really gunner have a spend up.
    Looks like it.Maybe?

  159. rico says:

    Night Adam…

fred – but why wast time giving them trials just to cover something else up, surely the club would have to pay for travel etc?

It’s bizarre potter and wordpress don’t understand either. One day, I’ll break free from them and hopefully the problem will be resolved…

  160. Nashuagunner says:

John Henry spoke too soon.If what Suarez is saying is true, the gentlemen’s agreement and the new clause in his contract, they have to let him go. We just have to play the waiting game until we qualify for CL.

  161. allezkev says:

The Suarez Saga seems to be moving up a notch, with whispers of a legal challenge to Liverpool’s stance, finding their way into the media, no doubt via the agents of the South American…

Liverpool are resigned to losing him, they are just sweating on Real Madrid coming in with a bid, in order to save face…

All this Scouse nonsense about selling to a rival… Do me a favour, Liverpool’s rivals are Everton, Tottenham and Swansea…

Of course the conundrum for Liverpool would be if Real Madrid bid £20 million for Suarez, safe in the knowledge that they’d rather lose £20 million, than sell to Arsenal…
Losing £20 million shouldn’t be a problem for such a poorly run club as they have already lost £20 million on Carroll, and are preparing themselves to lose another £15 million on Downing… Jordan Henderson is next..,

Yeah, Liverpool are Arsenal’s rival’s alright. Well they are in the confused mind of John Henry of Fenway and that stupid dope Brendan Rodgers…

  162. allezkev says:

Hello Nasher, the Suarez Saga is ripping the guts out of Liverpool, if nothing else.

The morale at Anfield, must presently be on the floor..

Of course, every top player in Europe, must be desperate to play for Brendan Rodgers. 😉
Rodgers is as big a draw to Europes top talents as Moyes is at ManUre…

Laudrup & Swansea, to finish above Liverpool this season, I reckon…

    Night Gooners

  163. W.A.T.H says:

Scott, no mate you were not wrong on this occasion the mirror also ran a story but the Suarez interview was Guardian and Telegraph…! Mirror just picked up on bits that he’d said
