Morata Arsenal move on? Gnabry set for departure & Let's go out with a bang!!

Morning all.

Many of this mornings newspapers are running the story on Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata and his loan move to us in a few days time. The 21 year old  is not being used much by Carlo Ancelotti and suggestion is both club and player would be happy to see this move take place. Whether Arsene Wenger feels the same remains to be seen but Olivier Giroud needs help up front, the whole side needs more up front so this story makes absolute sense.

Other stories in the news suggest Tomas Rosicky is seriously thinking about moving on and Serge Gnabry could be set to leave on loan next month with Wigan being suggested as the club. I’d rather see him remain in the PL if he is to go at all.

Both Manchester sides away done, so just Liverpool, Chelsea and the neighbours left then?

Wrong, very wrong as facing Newcastle today at St James Park is going to be one of the most difficult tasks we have had, or will have this season. In fact there are many sides left to face away and at home who will cause us problems.

Newcastle are flying high, they had a fantastic 5-1 victory over Stoke City just a few days ago and they will be ready for this afternoons challenge. Ah, but that 5-1 came about after the opposition were reduced to NINE men and up until that point, they were struggling….

On the same day, we battered West Ham away, on paper that is and until Arsene Wenger was forced to make changes, we too were struggling to find the back of the net.

Surely Santi Cazorla has to play central, Podolski and Walcott have to start and as we are away from home, playing Arteta and Flamini from the off might be wise, very wise.

Newcastle have a glut of players who can cause us problems, just as we have many who can do the same to them. Today is all about who is allowed the space, time and freedom to perform.

Aaron Ramsey misses out today, the first match of a few I fear but as said earlier, when he went off against West Ham, Arsene Wenger was forced into changes, and they worked. In comes Jack Wilshere after serving his one match ban and both Laurent Koscielny and Tomas Rosicky could return.

This time last year, we played Newcastle at home and what a fantastic game it was, one in which ten goals were scored, the highlight being Walcott’s. Well, it was for me anyway.

Not sure we’ll see as many goals today but in football you never know, especially when that game involves us. If every player can hit form and play with style, pace and precision, we can score many.

But if we allow Newcastle play in that same way, they could do that to us…

It should be a cracker of a game and it’s our last of 2013 so let’s go out with a bang, a bloody big one….

That’s it for another day….

    Hi all,
I think Rosicky can be disciplined to play along side Arteta in the double pivot.
Looks like another game for Giroud up front.
I’d also prefer that we give TV another chance after he played so well against West Ham.

  2. bradlop says:

Let’s hope Wigan gives him a run because Myacchi loan was a total waste. Sadly he’s considered for the world cup but not a regular for Wenger who is often short of speed and width on the flanks.

  3. frednerk says:

    Falcao (Monaco)
    Interested clubs – Chelsea, Arsenal
    Alvaro Morata (Real Madrid)
    Interested clubs – Spurs, Arsenal
    Kostas Mitroglou (Olympiakos)
    Interested clubs – Liverpool, Arsenal
    Demba Ba (Chelsea)
    Interested clubs – Arsenal

Thats what the daily fail reckon

  4. rico says:

Surely a club in the PL could use Gnabry if he has to go but I’m not sure there is any truth in the story, not unless Chamberlain is very close to a return.

I’d rather see Gnabry on our bench and getting playing time….

  5. rico says:

I can see Falcao going to Chelsea fred, they could afford his wages…

Think Ba has ruled us out but the Morata story makes sense as long as someone else is lined up for the summer..

Knowing AW though, he’ll either be looking at someone else or no-one…

  6. Thorough says:

Rico. Nice post. Ba didn’t ruled us out, he just said something along the line of -Arsenal link is a rumour and nobody has contacted him or his manager from us, which is a political statement for ‘if they are interested in me then let them come’.

  7. rico says:

Thanks Thorough, the article I read said different but I cant see Jose allowing him to sign for us in Jan in any case…

  8. Thorough says:

Welcome Rico, guess we read the same article and it squeezed a hiss out of me. The heading was totally the opposite of the content. Sensationalism at its best!

  9. BrainwashedKev says:

    Boring Boring Chelsea…

    Morning All.
    Morning Rico…
    I’ll tell ya, it’s gonna be Darren Bent… 🙂

    Hard hard game today.
Newcastle will be very physical, Tiote will be kicking anything that moves in an Arsenal shirt.

The referee is the useless Lee Probert, so we ain’t gonna get any protection from that Riley ‘bum-boy’….

Notice how the Press/Media, quickly swept the controversy from Liverpool’s defeat, under the carpet…

They’re all as complicit as the PGMOL, SKY, BBC, FA, EPL.
We’re gonna get stitched up this season, believe me.

  10. stevepalmer1 says:

Morning all, Must say i normally say nice post, but loaning out Gnabry and also not playing him while Theo was out and stepping over him when Theo came back, Has stuck in my throat. Bad news but not your fault Rico (nice post 🙂 )
Whet the Fcuk is that Wenger doing, Rosiski thinking of moving on, only because he is in the 30 year old Bkt ideal spot for Gnabry covered by the Ox or is he being loaned as well OH Wenger just keep Bendtner Fcuk me sideways.

  11. BrainwashedKev says:

Gazprom won’t let us have anyone this January…

    Nor would the Northern Oilers…

Tbh, I don’t see any mileage in speculating about any of their players…

Wenger will have to do his shopping abroad.

  12. BrainwashedKev says:

Don’t agree with loaning out Gnabry…

I would defo start him in the FA Cup…

Miyaichi needs the loan, not Serge IMHO.

  13. BrainwashedKev says:

As far as the players we have out in loan, if they aren’t playing at least 50% of the games at their loanee clubs, just move them on to different clubs in January…

    Get Yenarris away from Bournmouth.
A total waste of time, that loan…!

Bellerin, if left out by Watford, should be moved to another club.

Wellington Silva and Joel Campbell could both be brought back to Arsrnal next season as they’ll be available to us. Hopefully both will be more mature and under Wenger’s coaching, could prove valuable additions to the squad?

  14. rico says:

    They usually are Thorough… 😉

Morning Kev, even Football Focus made no comment on the refs at the City game, including Lawro, shock horror …

  15. ozgunner says:

they have had a few of those this season as we all have – every team only remembers their own i suppose. Not sure about Arsene’s the West Ham win proved we’re title contenders (bit silly if you ask me) but win tonight and we turn the new year in good shape, loose and its 1 in 5 not good.

  16. tsgh says:

    Morning peeps,

Rico, the post initially sadden me but then I thought you are only reporting what is in the press so hopefully no truth in Morata or Serge loans… lol

Why would AW pay a loan fee for a kid who is hardly playing , improve him and then sent him back…? The last I checked Perez was still crossed with AW that he had rejected RM on a few occasions and was only interested in fleecing us to pay the Spanish bank loans…

Kev- Beelerin is getting games at Watford and doing well duee to Zola; but I agree with you on Yennaris, what a waste of time(loan) imo…

  17. ozgunner says:

Gnabry loan? Surely not, what more could he have done to prove he’s worth developing properly within the squad

  18. TizTeezy says:

any body who watched the newCATTLE-stoke city match will testify that newCATTLE wer utter crap before the red cards flew in for stoke. Arsenal is miles ahead of them in terms of class. let’s show it and hit the summit…

  19. DutchGooner10 says:

    Morning Fellow Gooners,

Here’s a fringe ticket name that can go into the hat as well.

    Alexander Pato

Loaning Gnarby is a big NO-NO for me.

Another issue I think is these short term loan deals. You can hardly call it a developing program.

Reasons for me to believe Miyaichi would’ve been better off as loaned to Feyenoord for several seasons. He seemed to thrive there. The Dutch League is a technical competition which allows youngster to grow physically while being educated on dynamic positioning.

Far too many loans are at clubs whom historically have never risen above 2nd or 3rd tier for a reason. That is like-for-like in approach and football philosophy.

Good read Madam. I’m convinced it will be a epic midfield battle we be treated today. The Flamster vs Cabaye

  20. Ergs says:

Does anyone else feel the only thing holding us back is Arsene Wenger’s tactics in big games.
His philosophy is great but only when we have the better players then the opposition for me he’s tactically inept.

  21. DutchGooner10 says:

Kostas Mitrolgou has something Anelka-sque about him. Me thinks.

    [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mnbPoWBK-Ok&w=640&h=360]

  22. DutchGooner10 says:

Diego Costa looks the spitting image of Eduardo. Similar in a low center of gravity as well. Quick turns and control underneath the body shielding possession in close goal threats.

  23. DutchGooner10 says:

    Me too Ginge.

Kostas has already developed the physique to cope in the EPL instantly.

I agree with Kev, we will be shopping abroad but it won’t be a deal in the region of Ozul.

  24. DutchGooner10 says:

    Ginge

What I like about Kostas is his fierce looks. Someone you take to the frontlines, if quivering in their boots is required to rattle your opponent’s confidence.

  25. DutchGooner10 says:

Can’t quite grasp the fact Falcao has thrown away a scintillating career at a top club for a pre-pension sit out at Monaco.

What a waste of talent being advised by the rot of our beautiful game:sport agents.

  26. BrainwashedKev says:

    Ginge, Zola has left Watford…

Since he went, Bellerin has been out of the side…

    Agree Dutch re: Miyaichi/Feyenoord.

It never ceases to amaze me why Wenger/Arsenal don’t make more use of loaning players to EreDivisie clubs…

Here’s your choice Nico, Bournmouth or PSV….???
    Er, no brainer!!!!

  27. tsgh says:

    Dg, Diego has been around for awhile playing back up to Aguero etc; I rate him but what I have found is that he is a pre-christmas wonder in terms of goals… he normally draws blank after christmas;

I would like to see him repeat it in the new year and then if he is consistent then fair enough…

His disciplinary record and injury is a bit of a concern too imho…

At Valladolid he was immense too…

  28. tsgh says:

You are right Kev re Zola resigning, I didn’t know Bellerin has been dropped since… thanks for keeping me posted. I always learn something from you re the youth…

  29. DutchGooner10 says:

    Kev

I had high hopes when Miyaichi was loaned to Feyenoord it would be one of many more to follow. As I agree the Eredivisie is the perfect maternity ward for top talent to mature.

  30. tsgh says:

Kev/Dg- AW explained why Ryo could not go back to Feyenood; he mentioned that Ryo will lose his work permit (special talent permit) if he left the UK and since he is not meeting the main route for gaining work permit a he is not a regular for his national team…

  31. DutchGooner10 says:

    Ginge

You probably done the numbers on Diego twice. So your findings would raise concern with me. Facing we could be robbed at daylight if he’s a January target as his market value has rocketed these last few months.

  32. DutchGooner10 says:

    Ginge

Good point on Miyaichi but how come all talents with permit issues end up at Arsenal??

Can’t we buy prodigies that don’t come heavily backpacked with this hassle?

  33. rico says:

Sky Sports are a joke, they are previewing the Chelsea/Liverpool game likes it’s the CL Final…

Jeez, we are on before them. K***s!!

    Hello all….

  35. tsgh says:

Arsenal team to play Newcastle: Szczesny, Sagna, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs, Flamini, Rosicky, Wilshere, Walcott, Cazorla, Giroud

    same predictable… OG12 to score

  36. tsgh says:

Is TR07 playing the box to box role or JW?

I will prefer the Mozart personally due to Anita, Tiote, Cabaye in the midfield of NUFC.. a bit too intelligent for young Jack…

    LIVE STREAM SERVICE NOTIFICATION!!!

THE CHELSEA vs LIVERPOOL GAME WILL BE STREAMED ON THE SAME 3 CHANNELS AS THE ARSENAL MATCH. DIRECTLY AFTER.

SO STAY TUNED IF YOU WANNA CATCH THE CLASH OF TITANS. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  38. tsgh says:

Özil set to miss Cardiff & Spurs games as well. Wenger says he is out for “2-3 games… no crystal ball or 35 year managerial experience was needed to foretell over playing Ozil and Ramsey but hey…

  39. tsgh says:

On other news… Tim Sherwood cited Roy Hodgson, Kenny Dalglish and George Graham as his influences in football management. Dear oh dear… 😀

  40. DutchGooner10 says:

The board room never appears to be understaffed.

How come the business end of our club contracts heavy weights from global enterprises and we make do with raw talents within a thin squad??

  41. tsgh says:

    Arsenal Mexico ‏@Arsenal_MX 18h
Very reliable mexican Fox reporter Ruben Rodriguez has confirmed Arsenal has enquired for the mexican international striker Oribe Peralta.

Good player but a bit small…

  42. Joaquim Moreira says:

    afternoon all!
    yes, Ozil injuried
A read that player in ArsenalMexico supoorters yesterday too
    Come on Arsenal!

  43. tsgh says:

AW’s take on Ozil’s injury is very dubious… I guess you are right Rico, just a rest without the media asking lots of question…

  44. BrainwashedKev says:

    There’s only two possible explanations…?!!!

The first, is that PGMOL officials are corrupt….

    Or…

That PGMOL officials are fcuking useless….

Although there is a third explanation I suppose?

    A combination of the above…..

We don’t stand a fcuking chance in this bent league!!!

  45. Merlin96 says:

    I was plugging for Rosicky.

    Sadly no more.
He is no more that dynamic chap I saw during 2007/08 season, tracking back end-to-end.

In one incident, with the defence caught out, he was the lone player that tracked back right to our right corner flag.

    Today?
When he lost the ball, he just stood still and got no leg to track back like his old self.
Guess this his last season with us.

    Wilshere?
Prove my point, slow-of-thought, creating nothing; and perhaps like Ramsey, he needed this season to get over his injury and return back to form next season.

    I take back my words.
We need to buy this January … and buy big if we want to win silverware this season.

  46. Merlin96 says:

Well, one yellow only and Flamini was lucky.

Tiote, like Von Brommel, is just committing intelligent fouls and got away with murder.
Love to see when he is going to be booked.

Wouldn’t surprise moi that there will be a flurry of yellows during 2nd half to compensate for lack of yellows during 1st half.

Not bent … just incompetence and “English Football is a man game and you lots of Johnny Foreigners stopped diving will ya!” Mentality of English ref.

  47. tsgh says:

    M96, I think Tr07 is not as bad as such imo… 😉

Unfortunately TR07 can only play with players like Arteta, Ramsey and Poldi

SC19 is playing on the lhs and has failed to help Gibbs out defensively… going forward SC19 is as good as you will expect but with his final ball either underplayed or overplayed… but still 2 goals in this game…

Cabaye’s pass to find Debuchy was a ‘beauty’

  48. Merlin96 says:

    Yeah Rico, agreed.
    Time for him to go.

DO notice they kept on attacking our left as it is our soft underbelly with Gibbs lacks positional sense and tactical awareness on the pitch.

Contrast that to Sagna who stopped all attacks down there.

Who is covering Gibbs – Rosicky or Cazorla?

  49. tsgh says:

😀 😀 M96 ‘Not bent … just incompetence and “English Football is a man game and you lots of Johnny Foreigners stopped diving will ya!” Mentality of English ref.’

  50. Merlin96 says:

Tsgh … Wenger should stop Rosicky from going all over the pitch then and make him stay on the left .. unless interchanging with Theo.

  51. bradlop says:

    What is the positioning plan?
Not Flamini in the Dm role, nor rosicky in double pivot.
Wilshere too deep for number 10 and Cazorla half lm and half number 10.
Surely Wenger didn’t set up like so?

  52. BrainwashedKev says:

Gnabry and Walcott on the wings could an option?!!!

Commentary on TalkRubbish is so pro-Newcastle that it’s embarrassing…

  53. tsgh says:

brad- Jw is playing in the pivot behind Flamini nwho is playing box to box…

Og12 to score as said. lol

M96- according to stats- TR07 has attempted and won more tackles today than JW and Flamini together

  54. rico says:

Neither do I. And from a manager who said the best way to defend is to attack, when we went to Italy to play Napoli…

  55. BrainwashedKev says:

Every time Newcastle come close, Collymore and his Gazprom supporting co-commentator have an orgasm…

    It’s sickening, but expected…

    Here comes SuperNick…. 😐

  56. rico says:

Shiver me old timbers, my stomach might now settle…….

That was some top defending by us……

However, 3 points don’t mean no signings in Jan Arsene!!

  57. AndrewH says:

Big three points. Win ugly what we needed. Wilshire much better in the middle. Giroud lovely flick then misses sitter.

  58. BrainwashedKev says:

The Gazprom commentator on TalkRubbish is devestated….

Sam Matterface, eat your Chav heart out you fcukin’ mug….

Ha Ha Ha…. Top at the New Year…. 😀

  59. tsgh says:

    Top of the tree indeed…

Dear oh dear… there will be a lot of depressed souls in the Talkshite towers this new year’s eve… lol

  60. tsgh says:

Jamie Carragher is as depressed as the rst of them…

rest to Glenda… he is always fair imho…true AW disciple even for a sperds man.lol

2010/11 was our worst season during the Arsene Wenger Era, collecting our lowest tally of 68 points and finished 4th.

Michael Owen said we are going to finish 5th … 😀

Certainly, we are on a title-winning trend …

We need to be prolific in front of goal now as the title race is pretty tight. That is, we must score in every league game now.

The maximum point we can garner is:
After 19 league games, we got 42 points.
    Maximum points = 42 + 57 = 99 points.

  62. DutchGooner10 says:

Not complaining the result but what utter lazy performance the few minutes PinkBoots came on.

He just strolled the boulevard and watched the manicured grass grow.

  63. tsgh says:

Second clean sheet since the ref and FA influenced lose at the wastelands… but only 4 goals scored compared to $hitty with over 10 goals

  64. tsgh says:

    Hmm, Everton win again.

As I mentioned in my post, Sky are now talking about the Chelsea front line without goals….

So OG12 is not as bad as we make him out to be even though he is a step down to what we have had in the past.. lol

  65. Merlin96 says:

That is the Dream of this Eternal Optimist JM. lol

Can we do without Ozil and Ramsey for the next 3 matches?
    – – home vs Cardiff
    – – home vs Tiny Totts
    – – away to Villa.

Good news is OX returning … and Carzorla is regaining his form.

Guess Wenger will need to buy a striker next week?

  66. BrainwashedKev says:

Dutch, you can’t Coach heart and desire into anyone…

If it ain’t there, then it ain’t there…

  67. Merlin96 says:

You all think Szczesny should be dropped fort eh next 3 matches as errors are creeping into his past 2 games – revert to his flapping self.

I will play Fabianski for the next 2 games though, giving Szczesny a “rest”.

  68. DutchGooner10 says:

    Ginge

OG12 gets too much stick considering his contributions to our season so far.

Yes, he lacks composure at times but he improved his overall assets tremendously compared to his first EPL season.

  69. Merlin96 says:

    Kev, absolutely agreed with you.

I like Nik; but somewhat his desire is gone and no more his buzzy self when the last time he played for us years back, Wenger put him at right flank.

You think Mertesacker will head-butt him like Adebayor 😀

  70. rico says:

Giroud is still not clinical enough in front of goal Ts, he should have buried the chance he had to make it 2-0. He’s good, but we need a player who is better than him…

I want this club to be champions again with better quality in a few more positions.

Settling for less would be wrong, very wrong……

  71. stevepalmer1 says:

Winning Ugly is ok, and it doesn’t get any uglier than today. Szezesney needs dropping again this time for longer as he hasn’t learnt anything.. Theo gives us width Ha ha his useless one free kick. Top marks for both our full backs as they had very little help CB’s worked their arses off Santi Jack and Theo just can’t give the ball away quick enough. Flamini worked solidly. Giroud just cannot do it on his own but the bugger tries. Rosiski tried hard got stuck in got well roughed up. But 3 pts and were back on top. An ugly game but a beautyfull result

  72. tsgh says:

Oscar, Schurlle, Mata, Hazard, Willian, Schurlle, De Bruyne= over £100M worth of talent but all with just 1 assist and 1 goal between them away all season…

  73. Merlin96 says:

DG10, I see OG12 as a limited player, an excellent squad player.
But we need a worldclass forward if we are to go to bigger thing rather than stagnant as a superb “TOp-4” team; a nearly team that somewhat found wanting at the final straight in the title race.

We are riding on luck and it is a matter of that that fickle wench Lady Luck will desert us.

  74. DutchGooner10 says:

    Rico

I saw Thomas taking over Bendtners position in the dying minutes of the game chasing the ball down at the back four. Having already played the full 90.

What an absolute disgrace. Why can’t he at least pretend he’s interested in being on the pitch.

  75. tsgh says:

Dg, to me TR07 is as good as they come… a very professional player too…

At his age he covered 3.37km more than SC19 and JW combined today…

Sagna was immense too and not forgetting Gibbs who was hang out to dry…

  76. rico says:

Sp, I’d take ugly and winning over anything….

Giroud and Walcott were average again yet the two combined won us the points. No complaining from me 😉

  77. rico says:

Dg, the blessing is that he won’t be playing for us for too much longer, hopefully he’ll be gone next month…

Merlin, I am not sure if BFG would bother wasting his energy on Bendtner…

But I have a couple of mates who would cheerfully volunteer… 🙂

  79. DutchGooner10 says:

    Merlin

I agree Giroud isn’t the clinical stick it and twist it kinda murderer. But how come Chelsea have a few of those and those are not performing??

There’s no guarantee. Hence the reason I say don’t under value OG12 contribution.

Van Pursestring became top-scorer at 28/29. Who would have predicted he would ever be MVP of the year? Most thought he was just a fragile sack of bones with admirable skills.

Whether you like it or not. RIP won ManU the league while he didn’t come with the credentials of being legendary.

Remember how most (before his transfer) rated him a fluke in the spearhead position. A one season hit wonder.

  80. Gunnerdna says:

Giroud: “We have the players to play up front,” he said in an interview aired by Canal+ on Sunday morning, before his strike saw off the Magpies at St James’ Park. “Lukas is having a good come-back. Theo can play as a striker. We have the quality and the quantity. If the coach wants me to rest, he can do it without buying a new striker. I would rather not see a new striker come in.

“I always have to recover, to get massages, to eat well, to sleep well. This is how we live. I am lucky to not be injury-prone. I have a body that tolerates the accumulation of games.”

  81. tsgh says:

Kev- I always suspected you were connected. 😛
    ————————————-
Imo, just having top players alone will never win you anything…

I always say that this current BM team were finishing behind BVB until the Bavarians had players like Robben and Muller all working hard… now people talk about them like they are made of gamma…

But the fact is we (Arsenal) have too many luxury players who are passengers when it really matters.

In the bigger games the best players run the hardest and the farthest… looking at our figures today only 3 of our players featured in the top 10 in regards to distance covered. The 3 industrious today are the usual suspects and the oldest of the squad… why should that be!

  82. tsgh says:

I am disappointed about this but… Aw never shows his hand

‘Wenger rules out bidding for Cabaye. Reminds us Özil, Ramsey & Chamberlain all to come back.’

  83. DutchGooner10 says:

    Afternoon Adam.

Don’t know if any of you have ever heard pitch perfect music notes considered by purists mathematically the epiphany of heavenly nirvana.

    It’s boring as hell.

My point is: chasing perfection can lead to stagnant obsession.

  84. DutchGooner10 says:

    Ginge

Indeed. These older players came through the ranks when silly money was still considered obscene.

  85. tsgh says:

‘… the epiphany of heavenly nirvana’ Dg, that sounds a bit too esoteric and new age to me… 😛

I don’t know what Pardew was seeing earlier but Pardew says all the decisions went Arsenal’s way today. phew

  86. rico says:

Is that the same Giroud who said we needed to sign Suarez or any other top class striker??

Adam, that could be my heading for tomorrow.

  87. Adam says:

DG. As someone cursed with perfect pitch and a guitar player of many years, the answer is yes. Pitch perfect notes? In relation to each other such things are non-existent my friend. Tempered tuning is the thing.
Shit performance. Three points has been Man Utd’s mantra for years. It’s the ‘striving’ that makes the difference and once you accept less you have had it. IMO, of course.

  88. DutchGooner10 says:

    Rico

When our enigma Sanogo is fit and prepped for top tier introduction all will say: ” Luis WHO??” 😉

  89. tsgh says:

You are right there Rico… I guess I just like Cabaye’s vision and industry. I see him as a perfect foil for Arteta after next season or 2 as AW is not going to give Aneke, Olsson, Yennaris a chance at this stage…

I do not rate the Benders anymore imo…

  90. DutchGooner10 says:

    Exactly my point Adam.

I watched a documentary of purist musicians attempting such near impossible feature.

What was interesting about it was they all had differences of opinion on how to achieve and fulfill such an near impossible endeavor.

Leading cohesion and synergy among the performance astray.

  91. tsgh says:

We have now played every team in the league, no pundit can say we are top because we have only played 2nd tier teams…

    Sorry Adam* even

  92. Adam says:

Such an endeavour is fruitless DG. I was talking to a renowned piano tuner about this very thing a couple of months ago. Even at the level he operates at, it is all a compromise and an understanding of what offends the ear the least.

  93. rico says:

Adam, he is not my boy 😉

He’s fat, slow and lazy but he used to be good. That’s Liverpool life for you I guess …

  94. Adam says:

Rico. I wouldn’t like to try and take a piece of KFC from him. Or Kolo for that matter.
Too many Lard sarniesI suppose haven’t helped.

  95. DutchGooner10 says:

    Adam

Mate I know I can debate into detail with you about this subject. I was trying to avoid the nerd comments from those culture barbarians on here. 😉

If my memory serves well, indeed the recognized musicians, directors and internationally laureled composers reached an end conclusion which was: ‘pitch perfect is what least offends the ear of the listener’.

Although attempts on mathematically pitch perfect tuning have been succeeded by building a church organ. Forgot exactly which church treasures this organ. (Can provide a link if you want to quench your curiosity.)

  96. tsgh says:

We have been immense in 2013… we finished the year the best team in England and top 5 in Europe in terms of points collected…

Hopefully, we can start 2014 on the same note… next 3 games are all home to Cardiff, Fulham and Palace. Take 9 points and then we are…

  97. tsgh says:

The last time we lost a game with Kos, Arteta and the BFG finishing a match was March 2012…; January 2012 for only Kos and BFG… the best defensive pair across Europe!

  98. Adam says:

Chelsea have been very lucky with decisions this week. Strange that. 🙂

I see where you are coming from Dutch but playing in perfect pitch is an Organ pipe-dream. 🙂
Many loved the music of Jimi Hendrix but I have never heard him play a guitar that was in tune for more than a few moments. Never seemed to bother him though. 🙂

  99. Lee says:

If you want a good laugh watch “moonfleet” on sky one tonight, starring Ray Winston! Ye olde cockney smuggler, you couldn’t make it up!

  100. goonster says:

Drats I was hoping loserpoop ll do them over at shitford bridge. Grrrr oh well we re top of the league. Yeaaaah

  101. tsgh says:

kev- again no Yennaris for AFC B’mouth…

if continue as they are Miguel could be winning a trophy with Leicester…

LS07 again fails to score against another top side… or just injustice from the refs?

  102. tsgh says:

Is this a fluke? 16 of LS07’s 19 league goals were scored against bottom 7 sides.

Is it a given that Suarez will take us to the next level? Not yet convinced as I have always said but just my humble opinion… still believe we need a player who can score against bigger teams…

    Controversial but….

  103. potter says:

Seriously worried about the refereeing standards, I am rapidly concluding that unless you have a gas pipe or an oil well you won’t get anything from the PGMOL . If he wasn’t lauded as the best referee in England following today’s match at the Bridge of Sighs , I would have to conclude that Webb is corrupt.

  104. tsgh says:

Other 2 of 3 goals came against Sperds if they are considered a big team. 😛

Other 1 against Cardiff; BUT 19 goals in 10 appearances is ingenious…

  105. AndrewH says:

Chelsea, four blatant extra points from ‘bad’ refereeing decisions at end of WBA and Pool games. Arsenal and Liverpool have no chance really do they against the M City/United and Chelsea’s. I used to think things balanced out or were even remotely fair.

But again, Arsenals bookings amaze me. After Giroud’s booking and Tiote’s numerous fouls without one, something is definitely amiss?

  107. tsgh says:

Dg- I know my post was controversial but it was a bit of a topic to debate…

I will take Suarez too but not at any price….

The reason why I posted that stat above is because most agree/say he is the missing ‘piece’ in our squad…

I am not sold on that looking at both his club and international record on the big occasions… Forlan and Cavani turn up with the big goals when needed…

  108. agirlagunner says:

    Missed the match again. 🙁

    But we won, so yay!!

Boo, rico! The holidays are alwaaaays busy.
    Hiya, ginge and Dutch. 🙂

  109. agirlagunner says:

I missed the last match, too, rico. 🙁

I’m happy we’re back to winning ways though. The result against Citeh still rankles.

I gather Theo was his usual self. 😉

  110. ozgunner says:

ended up late for work last night but well worth seeing out the game – first class – thought the ref did OK by us actually, not sure about this paranoia we got away with plenty and so did they. Real heart shown by our lads out there, Newcastle are OK and were in good form, we worked hard in the majority and got a well earned 3 points. Chez was flappy all night and was very lucky several times but that’s the cut of the green as they say, on another day we’d have lost and Flam would have been sent off. I personally really enjoyed that and that was one for Wenger to get excited about – gritty win, well done lads
