Midfielder suffers nasty injury. Ozil loves life at Arsenal.

Morning all.

Every time an international break comes towards its end, each time it feels like they’ve got longer. For once though, I actually sat and watched some of the England game. Not much I hasten to add but enough to believe that Gareth Southgate has actually got my home country playing some decent football. It was either that or Croatia were dire. That Loven bloke really is a nasty piece of work. What with his comments after their match against Spain and then his attitude during yesterday’s game, horrid. Must have been a great feeling for the England team after not only inflicting revenge on Croatia but to knock them out of this Nations Cup thing that’s been introduced too. Apparently we’re now into the semifinal of whatever this new competition is.

If England beating Croatia was a bit of a surprise, Switzerland’s victory over Belgium was a huge one. From 2-0 down, Xhaka and his teammates fought back to win 5-2 in an extraordinary game. As said, England are in the semifinals and they’ll be joined by Switzerland, Portugal and one of either France or Holland. That all takes place next summer, June I think.

The fixtures for England are over, not that any of our players were involved and it’s the same for Greece, Switzerland and Egypt which means its home time for Sokratis, Xhaka and Elneny. The rest either have a match tonight or tomorrow. Then it’s back to the domestic game for a few months. A busy schedule it is too as we build up to the festive period. As Kev said a couple of days ago, fixtures are now come fast and furious. We still need at least a point from our remaining two Europa fixtures too which is frustrating but considering we’ve already beaten both clubs we have to play, we should manage to top the group ahead of Sporting Lisbon. Ideally we’ll get that little job done when we face Vorskla in the Ukraine on the 29th.

Another fixture which took place yesterday was the womens and yet again they were runaway winners. 4-0 at Everton was a good result but as seems to be the case with the men too, they picked up another injury. This one to Jordan Nobbs. It looks like she could be out for a while which will hurt the team big time.

Nice to see one of our sides sitting above Man City. And Chelsea….

Mind you, the academy teams are doing well too. Just need the first team to get back to winning ways…

Have a good Monday guys, fingers and toes crossed that Torrieira and Guendouzi come through their final matches unscathed.

Morning Rico and all. My general disinterest with International football shows no signs of ending so I have happily missed it all. Lovren probably still has the hump that the bloke painting his house was seemingly a more fascinating person than he is. So much so that his wife went off with him finding architrave and polyfilla an admirable substitution for a h

Morning Adam. Must admit, I watch very little international football too. It’s just not the same.

Lovren is still cheesed off with Ramos too. Shame eh….

    Morning Gooners
Morning Rico, a good post made out of no Arsenal news, well done.

Yeah, I saw the highlights of the England game, we should have won more comfortably but the team looks competitive despite not having a great midfield, Southgate has done well.
Chilwell looks a good player, shame we didn’t get him a couple of years ago, he’d probably cost upwards of £50m now. I wonder if Arsene dithered?

    Morning Kev, thanks.

Yes, midfield looks a bit disjointed and Ali, Dier look out of place. Agree on Chilwell, wicked free kick for the winner.

    Morning all.

Good article Rico. Lots to go at in the contents.

Glad to hear Mesut is happy. A happy person makes a happy footballer! Shame he looks so miserable most of the time!

Watched some the Ingerland match. Reminded me of some of our games. Really good play up to the 18 yard line but very poor finishing. A long throw and a free kick made the goals. A bit like Stoke under Pubis! Still, a win’s a win.

Nobs injury, if serious and lengthy could turn Arsenal Ladies results round she is such a good footballer. She is the type of number 10 that Ozil ought to be. In fact he could learn a lot by watching what she does and how she does it! Really hope he injury is not too serious and that she will be back soon.

Bright and cold here. Winter has nearly arrived!

    Thanks Wavy.

I smiled when I read that from Ozil. No wonder he’s happy, big salary, a gentle run around on match day, yep, I’d be happy too.

Poor finishing Wavy ? According to the breakfast chat this morning “HAARY” Kane is the best striker in the world.
Once again the hype is overtaking the reality.

  8. Wavy says:

Mmmm. Well, ‘Arry Cane is Wemberlee’s highest scorer with 30 goals! 10 for Ingerland, apparently. What it is to be a stadium ‘great’. Greatest in the world, my arse! No debate, there are plenty in front of ‘the captain’.

Journos don’t you just love ’em. Never knowingly over troothed 😊 And they certainly don’t live in the same world as the rest of us, do they?

  9. allezkev says:

I guess that Harry Kane is the best that we’ve got, some of his link play is good, 20 goals for England now, most of them against minnows like Lithuania, San Marino, Slovenia, Panama, Malta, Tunisia and Scotland, only scored in two competitive games that mattered, yesterday and Colombia (WC).
So I ignore all the hype about him being the best striker in the world, if that was true then surely we would have beaten Croatia in the World Cup..?

G’day all, not so good here, windy cold and frequent showers, we have a guest staying for the week, her name is Bo and she has to be walked twice a day. I found out all about the frequent showers on her morning walk earlier today.

I’d be happy on £350k a week, a nice long contract and a very comfortable retirement at the end of it. If I didn’t want to run around in the cold, one wet Saturday afternoon, I could always blame a slight back injury.

Yep a great performance by Ingerland, One route one pass and an illegal, long throw in, Gomez had his right foot squarely on the pitch when he launched it. God help us if VAR had been in operation.

As for the best striker in the world, according to the rentagobs, how many minutes since his last goal for England?

    Thanks for the post Rico.
