Firstly, Denilson has finally gone, ok he’s only signed for Sao Paulo for a season but who knows where that loan deal will lead, my fingers are crossed… 😉
Moving swiftly on to the debacle that surrounds both Samir Nasri and Cesc Fabregas.
Our new signing Gervinho has been very very bold, he’s spoken out about his view on the future of Arsenal FC already and he’s only been with us for little more than five minutes.
It is football, everything moves quickly, If the club does not manage to keep these players, they will be able to replace them. Arsenal will always remain a large club. No-one knows what will happen in the future, maybe in a year or two Arsenal will win titles.
Personally I agree with him too – no player is irreplaceable, in fact neither one of those two need replacing, not like for like do they?
He is also right in saying we are a big club, and in my view no player or manager will ever be bigger than our club!
They don’t want to stay so let’s sell them and use the money to address the frailties within our squad – that will make us stronger and probably give us a far better chance of getting the ‘haven’t won anything for six years’ label off of our back!
Speculation is rife that we are in talks for Ribery, the value being bantered around at £22 Million, no way in this world would Arsene Wenger spend that amount on a 28-year-old who suffers with injury quite frequently.
One paper this morning suggests that we have had a £10 Million bid for Everton’s Phil Jagielka turned down, with that kind of money, we would be better off going for Chris Samba who is valued around £12 Million but if it’s true, at least Wenger is finally in the market for a defender, which one we get remains to be seen.
Another paper suggests it’s Scott Dann that Wenger wants, time will tell but hopefully we’ll get good news and soon.
How about this suggestion?
Ben Foster is available on loan, Birmingham want to get his wages off their books just for one season. Many fans believe we still need a keeper added to the squad so what about taking up this loan chance for the 28-year-old, 6’ 4” Englishman?
Finally, The Sun newspaper is running a story this morning which suggests Arsene Wenger is under pressure from members of the board to start spending – it suggests that members are surprised that Gervinho is to date our only new edition.
Where they get this information from goodness only knows but I hope it’s true and he finally gets on and spends some money….
Have a good day all…..
boring in it rico just a regurgitated news day, jagielka 10 mil bid was in jan, ribery is balls he earn 8,5 mil a year plus another 3.5 mil im add ons no chance
Morning rsd and All
It is all cack and don’t know about you but i’m getting tired of writing it – But it’s got to be done 😉
Got to let Nasri and Fabregas go and rebuild, fresh faces, new ideas and who knows….
I know where the Sun gets it’s info.
http://www.newsinternationalwemakeshitupandhateArsenal.com
Don’t they all?
Morning Rico. As Wenger has been so lax in the transfer market over the past few seasons we are in a situation where we must buy the players we need. Obviously price is a major consideration here but quality is even more important. Everything stems from on-field success, everything. Buy by price- buy twice. Average journeymen just ain’t gonna cut it this time round.
Morning Adam
Stan knows that for his share price to increase we cannot afford to drop out of the top four – the story about Wenger being under pressure could very well hold some truth – maybe that all stems from IG’s comments about being busy this summer yet so far AW hasn’t..
Agree, we don’t want to pay silly prices for players, like 22 Million for Ribery but not every player we need is over priced.
I’m feeling positive this morning, how long it will last i don’t know 😉
Rico u got me going there….thought we actually signed a midfielder.
I can’t see Chelsea, Man City of Utd letting us have a clear run at Mata. I think Wenger will prevaricate too much. I am with you regarding Cesc and Nasri though. Wasn’t Ribery done for underage girls or pimping or something equally attractive, or did I just dream it?
Sorry stan 😉 morning to you
is franck coming then to us
They can’t buy everone Adam and some players will be sensible enough to look at how much they will actually play.
Not every player is happy to sit on the bench just for big bucks, many yes but not all 😉
Not sure about Ribery but that does sound familiar, 22 million is a crazy price though, Mata is a very different story…
Hi robin, at that price, i hope not….
It really pisses me off…this `Arsenal not winning a trophy` witch hunt that the media seem obsessed with.We all know that we haven`t won anything but, over these barren six years,we have still done better than every single premiership team apart from Chelsea and Mank Utd.Also, they want to check out all of the teams that have spent far more money on players than we have and haven`t even managed a top four place.Of course,I`d love to win some silverware and I`m sure we will soon but….I wish the media would turn their interest to someone else more deserving….like our neighbours down the road for example!
Surely Nasri would spend a fair amount of time on the bench too. They already have Silva. And it looks like they will have Tevez, Aguero, Dzeko and Balotelli as strikers. Not a bad line up when compared with Bendtner, Chamakh, Gervinho. I won’t mention Robin because I think he is a cut above. Whatever is going to happen had better happen soon as selling Cesc and Nasri on the 31st August and bringing in no-one would, I feel, result in a small revolution that could turn very nasty very quickly.
The Sun have obviously hacked Gazidis’ phone.
How the f*ck is Ben Foster 6’4″. I always thought he was a short-arse keeper, and this kind of scares me away from him. He has obviously appeared small because he doesn’t make himself big.
Peter Schmeichel was 6’4″ and he was massive, there is no way I would have put them together as the same size.
Sue, they hate us and love writing all things negative – i try to ignore it all these days – You wait and see how they say we will crumble when Fabregas leaves…
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz eh….
Well i think the Sun news is rubbish , do you think the board will let any sun representative to know that they had sent Wenger a message to get on with signing players.? I DONT THINK SO
Yeah, agreed arsenal may sell want away players. The problem that has persisted with Wenger is that he rarely replaces the want away quality players with players of similar quality. His replacements have always been players of less quality.
i think both would sit on the bench if they go where we think they will but hey, will we care??
Nasri is about money, if he gets splinters while he’s ‘earning’ it, all the better – he should look at Flamini, where is he now….
Five weeks for Wenger, could be his biggest five weeks for a long time….
WW – Wikki have Foster as being 6′ 4″
Hi SD, long time, all good??
SD, you never know these days with PHW 😉
this is a good Analysis of Arsenal’s Center Back targets http://sbn.to/qIxcl9
One problem with selling both cesc and nasri(this summer or even in successive summers) is one wenger pointed out- the image the club will have. A big club pretender i would say. The problem that will arise out of this is other richer clubs would keep bidding/tapping up our stars unless this is addressed and also it wouldnt be an attractive club for other world class players. Unfortunately Wenger’s lack of hindsight this tiime around makes this a very hard problem to solve. IG should have seen this coming with all the experience he has and has hired.
So the author is suggesting rsd, that Kos is better all round than both Cahill and Samba?
I don’t know why we continue to play such a high line to be honest….
Damnit –
not if they get ‘replaced’ properly, if they both go and we don’t use the money then yes, we will look like a selling club only – but if we were to go get Mata, Cahill, Enrique, Fellani and a striker – we’d look like a side that won’t be walked on by players…..
cos it helps to break down defences
looks as tho pep has been tapping up cesc since jan dinner constant phone calls according to sport.es
Good morning
Arsenal have to look with more attention and care for other leagues. With 10 million (Jakielska??) Purchase a handy goalkeeper, three average players and more money to spare.
I hope Nasri does not leave and not get upset. 20 million is not enough. 30 million was the price for Coentrão R. Madrid. That is, Nasri is worth 2 / 3 of Coentrão. Ridiculous.
Probably Arsenal barely sells it pays well.
Fabregas will leave.
Back to work.
get that bit rsd but we get caught out with a ball over the top so often… Thats where Toure was good, he was super quick to get back 😉
barca have been tapping him up long before then i suspect…
Morning JM, catch you later when your days work is done…
Nasri being in his last year reduces his price….
Arsene Wenger signing Franck Ribery? Naaaaaaaaah.
True with Gervinho. The likes of Patrick Viera, Thiery Henry, Ljunberg and others left. Who are Cesc and Nasri ? let go of them and let us concetrate on next season instead of on players who have no love for our club. Ribberry would help fix the gaps left.
no anymore im sure will be nice to have verm back
dann, samba, jagielka – i do not mind
foster – NO NO NO – szczency will show he is a class act this season
Ribery – NO NO NO – player on decline – use that £20 million to get Mata or Hazard or Marko Marin!!!
KEEP NASRI!!!!
SELL CESC!!!!!
Andyvans – would you pay 22M for Ribery??
If they both go, we’ll be able to buy more than just Ribery, it’s whether or not wenger will spend the money. thats the million dollar question
Stu got an idea. I like that.Truly like that. Why the hell should Foster be given a jersey no. by Arsenal. He is an Almunia kind of goalkeeper, not better than Szczencny or even Fabiansky.
Sell Fabregas 40M pounds and buy Juan Marta and Benzema. But we really need Ribbery ! He will add class and xperience to the side.
I’m not convinced that Jags would be the best option stu, Dann or Samba, yes please…
I wouldn’t mind Foster for a season loan, he always seems to play well against us, maybe for us he’d be even better…
I used to think the papers were the problem and that they were always against us,but i don’t anymore.
I blame Arsenal for letting things get so bad that they have the chance to write this crap.
How long did it take Hillwood to come and explain the cesc saga.We heard all the crap that was being spewed about players leaving and that we were a club in crisis.Where was the voices at the club??
Then we say were gonna buy players quick in the market and get our deals done quickly,
and then we say we cant find the right players and then Wenger makes it sounds as if were not going to buy and then you have IG coming out saying we have the money and we will buy.
No wonder there are so many Arsenal fans up in arms about the club, when we havent got a clue whats going on.
Every Arsenal fan knows we have talent and that we are not far off becoming a great team,
but we all know that we need stregthening and thats the frustrating thing.
Ask yourself’s this,
For the last few summers how many times have you thought and said,we are a couple players away from winning the league??
I’d rather have competition for song than a centre back,
rsd – we missed TV big time but we still need a defender who will get his head to the ball, JD does but not enough – we need a ruthless b*****d who doesn’t care where his head goes…
Andyvans – i don’t think we’ll get a keeper in any case and yes Ribery would be a great addition but as said earlier, last day 10 million deal, or throw in Nik if he’s still with us…
Just two points in no particular order:
If no player is irreplaceable surely the same principle applies to the manager.
If most gooners are hacked of by the club’s repeated lack of ambition/progress/competence in the transfer market why would the board not feel the same frustrations. Ivan backed Wenger and his team of no-hopers to the hilt last season and his reward was egg on his face – I can’t see him being so supportive this year.
Good comment Mr Is, probably been thinking we are two players off since 2006….
rsd, we need a defender and a DM imho….
Steve – IG’s recent comments about the fans will decide wengers future speaks volumes – he know the fans are pretty cheesed off and the non sale of 6500 ST’s shows that. The big question is whether or not IG stands by his comments IF we have a bad season.
If we have a shocker, the fans voices will get louder and louder and the board will have a major decision on their hands but, will they have the bottle???
We need to write to the Arsenal and explain our utter disgust with their PR department.
Have you written Will??
Ribery or Hazard??
wasnt so bad during the asia tour but you can get the head of pr on twitter he responds to all @chrissoult
When the club moved to the Emirates we were promised the Earth. Instead, for six years we have been treading water – and in competitive sport that means we have been going backwards.
As long as the club finished in the top four Wenger was unsackable. If we have a shocker next year I think Wenger will be out by Christmas.
Hazard 1000% 🙂
Remember I wrote to them ages ago? Didn’t even get a mail back saying kiss our arse
Rico, if it is an issue of winning trophies, I would go for Ribbery, but if u wanna sell at a profit in future, then ……………
I thought they have been top quality over the tour to asia rsd, the best in a long time but, if we are expecting info/updates on players it isn’t going to happen.
But he’s a crock these days Andy, we have enough of them don’t we??
You old cynic re future profit, bloomin funny though 😉 😉
And, sadly, probably true……
well we’ve got media watch *sniggers*
If you want to win the league then Ribery is not your man,he is too injury prone and is no where near as good as he used to be.
Hazard on the other hand is a real genuine world class talent and if we had him alongside gervinho, all i can say is WOW!!!
Ribery is also on over £200,000 a week wages,
so no way could we afford him anyway.
lille would never sell gervinho and hazard in one summer just like we wont sell nasri if/when cesc goes
Bartomeu arrives at the Princesa Sofia hotel for meeting with agent of Alexis Sanchez. So he’s not in london then
RSD,
I also agree with that and feel there is no way he will be a Arsenal player this year.
I can only dream cant i??
Hazard for me, Mata, Cahill (similar) DM and Striker – bring on the Mancs I say 🙂
I think we will sell both Nasri and Fabregas – IF Nasri doesn’t sign a new contract…
Just cannot see Stan letting 20 million pounds go down the drain, he’s a buisness man…..
Your bang on with that Rico,
Just how much bottle does our board have?? We will find out sure enough.
maybe we should do a city to lille http://www.thedailymash.co.uk/sport/sport-headlines/mancini-to-buy-entire-arsenal-squad-for-a-laugh-201107184087/
Mata is up for grabs….. SSN’s 😉
Now Mata is very different story,We could get him if we made the right moves.
I would be just as happy getting him as i would hazard.Mata is a guy i have been watching for sometime,he may be a bit slight and in need of bulking up a bit.but a real class act for me.
Mata also said he wants to say at valencia today
Mata would leave for the right offer,Silva said that and look where he ended up 😆
Which bit Mr Is, the fans getting louder or not letting 20 milion go…
:P:
Both 😉
Mr Is, and i suspect Mata will end up at the same place 😉
:P: re both…
So right now with this team we have,
Where will we finish in the league and how will we do in the cups??
rsd – they are in a financial mess, i strongly suspect Mata will go to help fund their debts but it will take a £30 Million + offer to get him which probably counts us out….
But, IG isn’t against a Marquee signing 🙂
5th or 4th.
Last season for wenger to deliver, forget jags and dann, samba best option, hard as nails no nonsense centre back, mata be a great signing but… Remember what happened to the last young spaniard we bought… Reyes! Also hazard be good signing.
Didnt i hear thou that mata has a 25 million euro buy out clause??(roughly £23 mill???)
Pretty much the same as last season i think – may get the CC this time 😉
A lot depends on RvP’s fitness – if we have him for the whole season fit then we will be much better off. I don’t think the Mancs buys will make them too much better as it stands as they have lost Scholes and VdS – De Gea will take a while to settle in and I’m glad we have got them at OT early…
So i take it your confidence is low Will.
If that happens Wenger will become a cropper.
I would go with 3rd or 4th right now and maybe a f.a cup if were lucky.
My confidence is low two,how we could all do with a pick me up.
Rico something always happens at old trafford that i don’t like, that is the worst game away for me.
Low? No, I think without the three players I have been begging for, we will stay the same but Man City are spening another billion pounds and Liverpool have spent £100M so far….
dudes y dnt we save all the money n have a go at J.A.V.I.E.R. P.A.S.T.O.R.E.
23 mili, tyhen lets go and release his clause 😉
I’m not confident Mr Is, not yet as i know what citeh and the chavs will do real soon in the window…..
wenger has it all in his hands now….
Livepool i am not bothered about one bit.Yes they have spent, but not on anything for us to worry about.
Man city will never be a real threat to they get rid of mancini. If they had maureen, then i would be very worried.
It’s the chelski’s and utd who are the ones to beat.
Wenger’s got the key,he’s got the secret,he’s got the key to another way!!! Sing it now 😆
i think the 20 mil buyout clause is only in spain
That’s why i’m glad it’s early Mr Is, they are known to start slow where as we tend to start well…
That’s pretty much the same as i feel, Citeh will sack Mancini if they satrt badly and we know who is waiting around the corner to take over, unless maureen is hanging around for Fergie to leave..
The Chavs, well i’m not convinced their new man will get it right from the off ….
Urban Cookie Collective???
Off for a bit – back later…..
Yeah Rico,i was gonna try post the video for thoose that don’t know 😆
Yh i see your point.Best to get it out the way now aye!!
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14235150.stm
intresting that the bbc are going with this story??
Any truth do you believe??
First of all, I also hope it’s true but I’m afraid the story in the Sun is utter garbage. Arsenal is a (frustratingly) private club when it comes to business. The Sun doesn’t have any inside sources – they are just making stuff up. For all we know Wenger has been begging for a larger transfer budget for the last 5 years.
Also, even at 28 and coming off injury, isn’t Ribery a steal at 22m? I’d think he’d be in the 30s at least. Anyway, it doesn’t matter because the rumor (as others have noted) all tracks back one guy on a blog with no cited sources. (unless independent and more reliable aourcea have come out in the last 12 hours that I haven’t seen yet)
Oh and I watched Everton get completely dominated by an MLS team (the Phillidelphia Union) last night. I’m not sure we want any of their players. The Philly union team wasn’t even playing there starters. They used a bunch of 18 and 19 year old kids from their reserves. It was pathetic.
If it was me,i would never pay 22m for Ribery…
Total over the hill player and very injury prone.
Wage’s are way too high and if bayern want to sell just show’s how quickly he’s rep has dropped with them.
a couple of the journo’s on twitter have confirmed it’s true but could all be a smoke just to show bolton we have other options
Yh must be true because it has now reached all souces.
I also get the feeling that this could be all smoke screens. Are we about to get busy?
Evening all any new signing??
AW did say end of july aug
Afternoon all, Jagielka is a pretty solid defender but Nasri went past him last yr like he wasn’t there…! For me Cahill all day long, 3yrs younger and I reckon we’d get him for 15m if we actually made an offer instead of sitting and waiting…! Go get Mata as well before someone nabs him and then far easier to sell Nasri to the manchester arabs..!
Afternoon fine folks… Any news then??
Hi Rico, I hear we’ve had an offer for Messi refused, it was a tenner so no idea why they have the cheek to turn us down….!
hello
I’m almost on holidays, rico 🙂
Whenever there is a player who was approached, appears just another club to give more … Lukaku now. In the end, the player ran out spoken. It must not pass the information to the media. Or a player to carefully indicated, and free of enemies, go attack other ….
from a daily sport newspapaer:
“Former goalkeeper of the selection Colombian Oscar Córdboa revealed a desire to see Falcao to play for Arsenal.
In an interview with Goal.com, and when asked if he would like to see the advanced FC Porto Real Madrid, Cordoba shot: “I’d rather see him at Arsenal, it was a dream that I could not. I was pretty close. I would like to see at Arsenal, because it is a team that plays differently. ”
In fact has been reported interest from Arsenal in Falcao, a player who last week renewed a contract with FC Porto until June 2015, increasing the termination clause of 30 to 45 million euros.”
I still say that right now, is one of the biggest gaps, it’s the left back. . I read today’s interest in Liverpool in A. Pereira. I hope not, because it was ideal for Arsenal. 🙂
Afternoon peepsys. Good post rico. From what I’ve heard the Ribery rumour has some legs on it?!
Been thinking, rico would you be interested in starting a fantasy football league, all pick a team and enter it. It’s free in the sun. Just a thought.
😆 WATH
Now messi would be nice ….
Hi Rocastle
Would love to do the FL, best you email me how to do it though 😉
Where you lot gone ???? 😉
I AM BACK!!
I think we should forget jackgleika or whatever, we should move for Cahill, and seriously go for Mata and then close the books.
But unfortunately we may not get Mata because the money men of Man City are chasing everything wenger is interested in .
Wenger is in trouble.
Adel Tarabat – QPR say £12 Million will get their man…
Any takers??
SD, citeh can only buy so many mate and there is plenty left over for the rest of us 😉 Cahill, Mata, M’Vila or Sissoko oh and Oxo cube if the price is right he does seem to be highly rated but def not for 12million…!
Hey SD, you and me both jags is good but not worth £20 Million, Cahill is £17 Million and w need him…
Mata would be great, as would hazard – but like you say and as Will has suggested before, as soon as Wenger is attached to anyone in the press, Citeh start looking too….
City are behaving like spoilt brats that they are , i know they intentionally offered Viera the new post because they knew Wenger wanted to add him to his coaching staff. And viera could not see beyond his nose to know that City is not interested in developing players , they are always going to buy and buy.
But then Viera is a footballer , they all think with there wallets and forget why the world still talk about Zidane, Pele, Maradonna,Van Basten and many more that only made footballing decisions purely.
I dare Nasri to go to City and it will be the greatest mistake of his life, he should just pick up the phone and call Adebayor, Bellamy , Wayne bridge or even Milner or Barry , how they feel about their decision to go to City.
Whenever i see Ade’s story i just laugh and some still feel sorry for him because he could have being great and worshiped at Arsenal but no i had to be greedy .
SD, we don’t want or need players or staff who are led only big their wage – Paddy was great for us in his day but that’s gone – if he wants to grovel to Citeh and take their money then so be it…
Maybe though he’ll call Wenger about all their tictacs 😉
Ade who?? 😉
Made me laugh what Paddy said about Man City, that they deserve the title. Why? Because they have spent the most?
Rico;LOL i needed pictures to recognize him as well
Good riddance to Clichy as well, if he plays 20 games then he would have done well.
He says all that to earn his big fat salary Will… We all know where his heart really is…. It’s in his back pocket…..
SD, Clichy to Citeh means Theo can have a great game against them 😉
🙂 Rico you are killing me, Clichy is in trouble.
I am sure Mancini will not play Clichy against us because Walcot will make him look bad.
Good, i aim to keep you smiling SD 🙂
Kolorov is worse isn’t he, win win… …..
Striker-Falcao/Benzema, Am-Mata, Dm-Mikel, Cd- Cahill/Alex
Is Mancini the most boring manager in the Prem? I mean Jose was boring but this guy is shocking.
JM, you still around??
tell us more about Pereira please
That’s not his fault Will, it’s a language thing….
Rico, I mean in playing style.
Ah, sorry Will – very negative in the way he plays and i heard on SS news that the new chav manager is exactly the same as Jose
Jose and his 2-0’s used to do my nut in and everyone called him the special one. Special one my left nut.
He was only called that because he said it about himself Will, i think those who referred to him in that way were kind of being funny…
in a kind of mickey take kind of way….
He was the most boring manager tactically out there.
ARE WE STILL BUYING A LEFT BACK OR IS WENGER STICKING WITH GIBBS?
I think sticking with Gibbs, Mr Shouty.
Gibbs is going to get injured for sure, what then?
guys lets not kid ourselves. i think both players deserve better than been at arsenal. football is a shot carrier and you have to show what you have archieve and i doubt they can win anything with arsenal. mind you fab4 has tried for 6yrs so its time to move on. I dont blame them is all wengers fault. what happen to these players. viera, ade, kolo, flamini, galas to name a few they all left without replacement and this what is killing the team. look at man u and chelsea for the past fve years i believe they have at least 85-90% of their team and compare that with arsenal. thus why we can never catch them untill wenger and his board changes their policies. My plea is for Dein to come back!
Traore and then TV.
Gibbs I think SD, whats with the CAPS 😉
Every body seems to be reading everthing out there to get an insight into our transfer news, Well believe it or not there is nothing happening, does’nt matter what the papers say or the blogs or television they all know F All, Arsenal will tell you themselves when anybody has joined, and they will not be shy to tell you, so don’t listen to stupid stories about Ribery. lets face it you all go potty when sombody sugests paying out that amount for a tough young powerfull defender, so there is no way on earth Ribery and his Zimmer frame is coming here
Hi Steve – Good, unless we pay between 5-8 million, maybe 10, we don’t want Ribery….
But, i reckon this one has a bit about it….
rico, Alvaro Pereira is the left back of Uruguay, We plays at left back and/or in midfield. Very good when strike; good in defence.Cross very well.
Dalglish “loves” him
Combative player who “exhausts” the field
Hi JM,
thank you for that info, how much would you think he is valued at??
Ribery is earning a reported 5 to 6mill a year with 3 million ad ons and we won’t pay Nasri, it may have a bit, but not here
I hope youa re right Steve, much rather Hazard if we really are after a winger….
whats wrong with Ryo and Geronimo and if were pushed Theo who misses alot, why another. Wheres my bloody defender
Ryo has no Visa yet Steve…. 🙁
But, if we need a winger, we have one but wenger insists on playing him in defence…
Traore…..
He can defend which is a bonus, he’s lightening quick, has good feet and has a great last ball into the box….
He is probably the only real winger we have in our squad…..
Ben Foster? have you people lost your minds? oh wait, that was sarcasm right? haha… ben foster… good one.
Just a suggestion PM, HH has bloggers who hope for a keeper this summer, is Foster that bad???
Thats answerd the question, we dont need a winger we need a left back and a centre back and a keeper. good post by the way, forgot to say and good evening.
🙂 Steve and thanks…
I’m not fusssed about a winger either, like you, i hope for the defence to be sured up and the attack be ruthless with a goal scorer – i also hope for DM but with Pingpong coming through, i don’t think we’ll get on…
Oh, and def a LB
I don’t want to see TV ending up there
AW said himself ‘I don’t buy stars I make them’… Think about it, that’s what he does, so forget all this transfer nonsense, look who he has bought, jenkinson & gervhino.. There will be no stars coming, maybe more unknowns or kids… And our ‘stars’ ALL go, think about it… And our dross we can’t give away… Lucky Dein bought bergkamp in 85 eh? We won’t win silverware for these facts, sobering & resigned to fighting for 4th which is what we do, think about that too
Nor do I Steve……
I have to go now, i’ll catch you guys tomorrow sometime….
Nighty all…
Night steve…. Have a good one 😉
Hi bbc&n
1995 we bought Dennis 😉
Laters all……
not direct arsenal news, but fc barcelona have apparently officially announced they signed alexis sanchez from udinese…33 million pounds…now that is out of the way, we’ll see how hard they go after cesc.
That’s the Cesc to barca finished for another yr then, if they’ve just bought Sanchez thats them blown all their money…!
wath, i wouldn’t be so sure. i think they will still try to prise him from us – on their terms. i see them trying to chip away at afc resolve on this – with the end-game being getting him at a price they dictate, not arsenal. i hope that afc stay firm and hold out for a reasonable price, but i am starting to wonder if there is not growing sentiment within the club to just move him once a “face saving” (i.e. somewhere between derisory and below reasonable valuation) comes on…who knows…
if nothing else, it would appear that a section of arsenal support would be happy to draw a line under this once and for all. i have seen comments to that effect on this and other blogs. that is exactly what fcb would like us to think.
Dude, did u notice tht Fab ws supposed to be Pat Vieira’s long time succesor, & tht Samir Nasri came in as the answer to our midfield issues after Alex Hleb? Well, selling them-as u suggest we do-will mean one thing, we keep selling and replacing, then we find ourselves in the same circle over & over again…u dont jst replace, u gotta keep the spine of the team together. Tht doesn’t even require u to have coaching badges to grasp, does it?
Remove ur emotions from reason man.
PKO…. your theory is all well and good IF the players want to be there in this case seems they don’t so thats point lost, as for spine of the team one was never ever Vieira’s replacement Cesc is a totally different kind of player and Nasri we play out wide so disagree with you on both points. The whole thing is bring players in who are quality and who want to be at Arsenal if you don’t wanna lay for us then your better off elsewhere.
Agree Oliver they’re playing on the cost thing big time and to hope we finally agree to let him go to just be done with it. I’d be making very public comments about how embarrassing it is for a club like thiers not to be able to afford such a great midfielder that they keep talking about through the media but yet fail to make any kind of proper offer, shows they actually don’t really rate him…! Rile them like they piss us off…!
What puzzles me is, if we sell Fab and Nasri we can replace them with Matta and Hazard and buy Cahil or Jags and Samba and our team will be better and stronger. We still will have spent less than Man U, Man City, Liverpool and Chelsea. Perhaps I’m mad
MistaKen, totally spot on, I been saying that for weeks, we don’t need to replace like for like but make the team stronger and more robust and competative. Plenty of very good players still out there to buy..!
20 millions.
That’s the price.
In my own opinion: 2o million for A. Prereira ok; 30 milion for Coentrao no
Sport news:
Everton refused an offer from Arsenal of around 11 million for the purchase of defender Phil Jagielka.
According to the daily Guardian, Everton Jagielka accepts only negotiate for a fee of around 22 million euros.
The England international, who in March continued the link with Everton for another four years, is an old wish of Arsène Wenger. Since last season’s team refused an offer from Liverpool Arsenal.
If you can not hire Jagielka, the Gunners will point batteries for Gary Cahill, Bolton Wanderers.
Saw a great article on Arsenal buying Adebyor for Spurs, very funny… http://themondaysupplement.co.uk/?p=1795 well worth a read.
Still got a sneaky feeling that Wenger has a big signing up his sleeve.
Keep them both.. There Part of the core group of quality that we have.. We didn’t sell Freddie, Pires. PV4 or Titi when they were at there best.. We shouldn’t be considering it now.. We’vve done it to much.. We get to a decent position every couple of seasons.. Get close.. Then sell, then we either stand still or go backward.. Add to what we’ve got.. Add a Mata.. Add a PJ6.. And add a Benzema.. But we can’t sell.. We sell then we’re just a business not a football institution anymore…
JPE, your spot on thats exactly what football has become…. A business, its been that way for years now…!
