Morning all.
Arsenal teenager Jack Jebb has been banned for four games for racially abusing an opponent during a Premier League Under-18 clash with Norwich in March. There was no complaint from any player, this incident was reported to the FA by the match officials.
I am sure someone at the club will read him his rights, this boy is tipped to have a great future but he doesn’t need to add a nasty streak to his personality or his career with us could be shortened. He needs to learn from this and never repeat it.
What a night!
A totally one sided 2-0 result ensured that not only do we sit top of the Premier League, we also sit firmly top of our Champions League group and we couldn’t ask for more right now.
It was another game of two halves, the first was fast, furious and scintillating. The second, calm, controlled and very very professional.
After all the worry about the high standard of Napoli and what a tough test they posed, we really made it all look too easy. Don’t get me wrong, I am not suggesting Napoli were poor, well they were but that was all down to the way we played. Pace, width, simple passing by every player which left the Italian side totally bamboozled. We really were that good and it’s been a few years since we have played so well in my opinion.
The players were as one, they knew where each other was every time they had the ball and looked to play the next pass.
On the odd time that we lost possession we either won the ball back or pressed hard to force the error pass by Napoli.
We were simply stunning and on such form, I don’t think there is a team who could touch us….
We scored both goals in the first half, we could have had more but two was enough, more than enough….
As said, the whistle blew and we pinged the ball all over the place, left, right, forward, backwards and every time the players found one of their own.
There was just eight minutes on the clock, when Bacary Sagna, who appears to have gone back in time with age, played the ball to Giroud down the right, the big Frenchman stood tall, shielded the ball from Napoli players around him and then played it into the path of Ramsey. There were players in the box waiting but up went the arm of Ozil who was making his way to the penalty area. Ramsey’s didn’t need any encouragement, his ball fell nicely into Ozil’s path and he sidefooted the most perfect ‘pass/shot’ past Reina who had absolutely no chance.
I can’t give enough credit to the way Ozil despatched the ball, it really was skill at the highest level. The perfect way to score his first for his new club.
Soon came the second and Ozil was involved again. Having scored from the left side, he popped up on the right as Napoli had a throw-in deep inside their own half. The throw went central to Britos who hoofed his clearance which was intercepted by by Giroud who played the ball straight to Ozil. The big Frenchman didn’t stand and watch Ozil in action, his long legs burst into the penalty area and he arrived at the near post just in time to send a little neat and tidy pass from Ozil, into the back of the net.
Another super piece of play which deserved the goal at the end of it. Giroud’s part in it it was top class, not just the finish but the way he shielded the ball, kept possession for those split seconds before finding Ozil was good strong play. He may not be the quickest striker we have ever had but he just gets better and better and his career goes on….
At times we not only made Napoli look a very average side but we made certain individuals look average too, Inler by Ramsey and too many to mention by Ozil.
We had a number of chances, some were easily saved by Reina, others were wonderfully saved by the same man. Ramsey picked up what appeared to be a groin injury just before half-time but it couldn’t have much as he appeared for the re-start.
The second half was very different to the first, the tempo calmed and the team just went calmly about their business, making sure the opposition didn’t score and they didn’t…
Apart from one or two half chances from corners, Napoli were restricted to shooting from distance and most of those were high, wide and awful.
Jack Wilshere came on for Tomas Rosicky just after the hour and Nacho Monreal replaced Aaron Ramsey just before the final whistle…
It was our night and what a night it was and as the game came to an end, the fans had the last word, words in fact and many of them…….
Olé Olé Olé Olé ………..
It’s very easy to single out players for high praise, especially as fans seem to have their favourites but playing football is a team game, it’s about having a squad full of players who when called on. Arsene Wenger made that clear just a few days ago when the media were gushing over Ozil. He made sure that his praise was equal for all as players need others to bring them into a game and give them the opportunity to perform well.
Last night, every single one who was asked to play their part did exactly that.
A great all round performance by Arsenal and that includes Arsene Wenger and his merry men….
That’s it from me, have a good day….
Excellent post Rico; I even read it 2x.lol
Sad news about Jebb… I always liked him and hoped he will get over his injuries but this slur is bad news… I hope it was taken out of context because he plays with minorities like Iwobi, Kamara, Hayden who are ahead of him and are liked by AW… he does not want to be the Jody Morris of Arsenal imho…
I also liked this line ‘It’s very easy to single out players for high praise,’… you are spot on… that is why i am against the whole ‘we are winning because of Flamini cack’ when in actual fact we had a better defensive record without him last season…
Longest day of my life today, sooo tired but so worth sitting up for. The crowd sounded really on it as well. I heard a little “there is only one Arsene Wenger” although didn’t last long ha! Superb display early and with all the millions we’ve wasted, Arsene must be kicking himself seeing what a ‘real deal’ player can do for a side. Wonderful goal and he lifts everyone including the crowd. We noticeably changed pace after the second and looked very comfortable with Arteta and Flam banking across the back – very good result hats off to them all including Wenger.
Morning Rico. Good post.
BTW – good post Rico and thanks for the news update, shame on the kid
Thanks Ts, what about ‘we are winning because of Ramsey’ cack, to use your phrase?
That’s my point, it’s a team game, we win as a team and lose as a team but just one or two are getting the praise, it seems quite bizarre to me…
Morning and thanks Adam, bet you enjoyed that didn’t you?
Were you singing, ‘there’s only one Arsene Wenger? 😉
Thanks Oz, morning to you too…
The folks on my fave radio station were this morning trying to prove and predict why we won’t win anything come May…lol
Their speculation was based on the stat that we do not win anything when we win our first CL group match. lmfao
Dear oh dear…
When did I say we are winning because of Ramsey?
Good Morning Rico and All.
Nice report to the point. Reading your post is like watching the goals again.
As you can see this morning Rico, we all enjoyed it in our own personal ways. Even the soothsayers.
Sir Alex Ferguson: “You’d be throwing your money down the drain if you put any money on me coming back as a manager.” http://bit.ly/1eYP9iX
Ts, I didn’t say you did, ‘to use your phrase’ = ‘cack’
I’ve not seen anyone here suggest that we are only winning because of Flamini, so I just used an example, like for like..
Imho, we are winning because the squad are playing well, for each other and fighting for a common cause. To win….
Arsene must be kicking himself seeing what a ‘real deal’ player can do for a side.
That’s the point Oz, the buying of squad strengthening players could have happened earlier had the club not been so obsessed with profit margins.
Moyes needed a convincing start and has the opposite – don’t see the pressure subsiding any time soon. Right now he has the toughest job in football in fairness to him. Is he up for it? I suspect not.
Morning all,
🙁 last month of early football, your day light savings kicks in on 27th then it’s bed time after midnight.
Good write up Rico, like Emma said yesterday, we’re more compact and resilliant and teams will struggle to score those simple goals against us like they have last season.
I see Bendtner was called up for Denmark. Shew, all it took was one game for us.
Morning Ng, thank you – the goals were stunning weren’t they.
I thought Sagna was meant to be ageing, but the energy he had in the first half was incredible, and Tomas/Arteta..
The second half gave them all a breather 😉
potter – he must, if only he had clumped together the money ‘wasted’ and signed just one in the class of Ozil…
But, he didn’t and we can’t change it, just hope it’s the start of something..
potter – you are preaching to the converted mate – I have watched these financials closely for years and you are right, saving funds has always been a key motivator to Arsene while his own salary and those of his mates skyrocket. I think Stan pretty well covered his own ass as well recently, letting us know exactly how and who runs this club. But maybe we live in a new dawn, no doubt the press pressure did us a huge favour in forcing Wengers hand as did our fans. Now it needs to continue
Talking of Bendtner, I had to chuckle last night when the SS’s team of Hoddle, Carragher, Wrighty and Stelling were talking about us having to rely on Bendtner if Giroud gets injured..
Even they felt sorry for the Arsenal fans…
Talking of that foursome, I thought they were very fair and complementary last night..
Thanks Bradster – I’d love to know if Bould/Banfield have been allowed to be far more involved since Christmas as we are definitely tighter defensively.
I read an article about a guy who’d been on trail with us recently, a 27 year old who trained for two days with the first team. He said that AW didn’t take any training, he just overlooked things..
I said it before Rico, the Ferguson factor or now lack of it, with press and referees is a huge impact – the playing field is far more level now in all sorts of ways. You can throw transfer appeal into that bin as well now IMO
I reckon you are right Oz, especially on the transfer appeal, if we are to believe some of the stories in the press, players aren’t keen to go there any more.
Of we carry on the way we are doing, and having signed Ozil, players will be queuing up to join us.
B-something will surprise us if he gets an opportunity imho…
I doubt most pundits want to see AFC do well… they all have something to prove as much as they try to back track.. Wright going on record saying AFC will never winning anything under AW again etc; but fair play to him he came on the radio on 30th August (before Ozil was signed) and said if he knew what he knew now he won’t have said what he said about AW…
He even disclosed on radio why we did not sign Mata which was surprising as he seemed provoked into disclosing the info…
Rico re your 10:12 that is well known but most will choose to believe Robson’s rubbish instead…
Aw only trains the strikers on special things if needed or in preseason when he is implementing his style; the rest of the time even the goalie coach has more input…
You do not have to believe me but I heard it from someone who knows one of our players who has a twin brother…
Cut the shit.
Stopp pulling apart reasons, motives, smoothing over the crowds….blah, blah, blah.
We have a bloody great side.
Those whinging that Ozil was a softener for the whining crowds can get stuffed because the same man that made that signing also kept Ramsey, bought Giroud, brought back Flamini, showed faith in Gibbs, stuck with Sagna, sacked Szczesny when needed, brought back Arteta when most….including ME…..thought he was not ready….bought the BFG who is not Arsenal quality….showed faith in Kozzer who was shit from 2nd division in France……
You can keep the negative crap going on a few fronts, but will lose the war because Wenger is still miles in front over the journey.
One question to the narks worldwide……..why the hell can you even look for a negative when Arsenal are top of the league and leading the “group of death” right now??
Mornong to all the positive Gooners worldwide.
To the negatives…..smile…it will not kill you 🙂
What a game.
What a result.
What a team.
Rico – amazing goal from Ozil wasn’t it – not to many of our truck loads of 8 million pound bargain buys, could have delivered that technique hey?
BM legend Matthias Sammer is slating Pep for playing Lahm in DM when he spent money on Thaigo.. lol
Pod must be busting to get on field with Ozil ha!
Oz, what did Ramsey cost?
Indeed Scott… well said but you know.lol
You are always on point my friend… I owe you a drink when you are down here…
Like on Ramsey its not about anyone gloating… I am just happy for the boy for what he has worked hard for, that is all… I love people with determination in life no matter their age or creed. When shite hits the fan moaners desert like rats out of a sinking ship…
Most are consistent in their views but also open to be educated on football by those who have something to say not just to hail insult at those who have differing views to theirs…
I just find it funny how those 2 people use to insult me on here when I said Ramsey will be world class and he will be wanted by Bayern before Jack… but those same think Ramsey is important to us…
Even Piers Morgan is trying to claim he knew Ramsey will be world class… lmfao
During pre-season I was concerned about Arteta’s speed but then I also said he was like that the season before so fingers crossed he comes back solid as he was amongst the top 3 midfielders in the squad…
Its a shame when Lord Suga a spuddie respects AW more than most of our fans… but its a free world I guess.
Morning, nice post again
Great game last night, everyone performed.
I can’t remember the last time I felt so optimistic about our future, everyone seems to be on a high right now.
Morning all.
Great performance by the team, great post and feeling great!
Özil showing what top dollar gets you these days, what a player and what a lift it has been, everyone appears to be raising their game. Absolutely buzzing about the gunners at the moment!
Hiya Ginge.
Some are consistent to the point of still searching for negatives.
Why?
I have asked on several occasions who the hell is Piers Morgan?
From everything i have seen, the wanker knows absolutely nothing about football, yet people listen.
Plenty here know more about the game than pundits who are paid or their opinion.simple excercise…..how many “experts” thought Ramsey or Girlud would be performing as well as they are now?
Name 1 and win a prize.
Last night at the Emirates was probably the best night since we beat Barca a few seasons ago. Experiencing the crowd and the harmony within them really was something. Watching the team in 3 dimensions felt like a privilege and to be frank it was in stark contrast to many recent experiences there where the crowd felt divided. Last night was an occassion where you could literally breathe the football in. It was the physical expression of all that Wenger’s footballing philosophies have been about and it showed that Arsenal as a team and an ideal in the mind encompass so many things. Wenger himself seems rejuvenated through the team who have responded to his faith and belief in both them and the purer footballing ethic he represents. The crowd sensed this and joined the party and last night Arsenal became more than the 11 on the field. Arsenal became a beautiful thing and an ideal that was showing it could exist in reality as well as in the mind and on the blackboard.
The football in the first 20 odd minutes was sublime and Napoli simply couldn’t live with it. We moved the ball with precision and pace and every player seemed to be thinking two moves ahead. There was a focus and intensity about the whole thing that made it rather beautiful and even emotional to watch.
I won’t single players out or rattle on about how we proved this or that person wrong or ourselves right. What Arsenal produced last night was far above those mundanities. Last night was fantastic and the Emirates was the hottest ticket in town. It brought hope, joy and a bit of love and who amongst us doesn’t need that?
WWWWWDWDWWWLWWWWWWWWWW…. Arsenals form
Lewis, Ozil is superb, but Ramsey was bought for a fraction of the price and is going at least as well 🙂
Money does not guarantee success, but in both cases…and contrary to what the narks say….Wenger got both right.
On Ramsey and Aw playing him out of position on the wings… a simple 5 minute check would have shown he played on the wings for Cardiff but hey…
———————————————
I feel sorry for the media vultures, now all of a sudden tabloids and the broadsheet journo’s are printing that JW slows our game down. Its nothing new btw but its a shame when people have to divide to conquer.
The boy is only 21 y.o there is no need to kill him with all the negativity after building him up to be the next maradona when he was never in the first place…
Express- ‘Yet Jack Wilshere actually slowed Arsenal’s previously irresistible momentum when he entered the fray as a second–half substitute.’
Guardian- … ‘Jack Wilshere actually looked out of place amongst the talent on display’
Jeez, give the boy a break…
😀 Scott what is the prize first?lol
Hiya Adam.
What has changed?
Have we spent 100’s of millions?
No.
We have started winning and that is the only difference.
The mood has changed because of that and that alone, and that is great but also disappointing.
Ts – re your 10.21 – no-one here chooses to believe Robson, in fact most detest the man so I don’t get why you suggest that…
All I know is that we look a lot more solid at the back and it’s great for Arsenal.
Sorry Adam…that is no challenge towards you…….
Please do not take it that way.
I am waiting for the a slight dip in form so that Robson will come out with the’ AW was allowing Bould to train the squad until he got jealous crap’. The dip in form will happen btw. (It did even in the 2003 season…)
No worries Scott. I choose to rise above the daily mundanity aimed against me.
Look guys and any gals reading, Highbury House is a forum for debate and people are free to post what they want as long as they don’t abuse others here.
If some want to talk about the positives, fine. If others want to talk about the negatives, then that is fine too…
You lot choose to come on here, if you don’t like what is being discussed then there are plenty of other forums on NewsNow to join so feel free…
I don’t do all this for others to pick and choose who has the right to say what.
Accept others views, or go somewhere else, it’s that simple…
Rico, last November, the hot topic was AW was not talking to Bould because of jealousy.. a rumour started by Robson but denied by Bould… nonetheless most went with it.
As far as history and stats show, there is no guarantee a top defender will be a good defensive coach… Ince and Winterburn anyone? lol
If it was that simple Adam and Baresi will be managing Arsenal and Milan respectively…
Thanks Andy and Lewis – it was a great night for all things Arsenal.
jookz – that’s quite impressive
Very true Scott, do you think tho the arrival of Özil has raised Rambos game? And of course the arrival of Flamini.
We look a proper team for the first time since Eduardo got his leg snapped and gallas had a paddy at full time!
Another big game this weekend, has to be another 3 points.
Hello, all!!
rico, you tough chick, you! 😀
Fantastic win last night!! Happy to be back to consistently winning ways!. 😉
Not being funny Ts, so what, if ‘some’ choose to take Robson’s word that’s up to them, if you don’t agree, pass your views at the time and move on, or do what I do, just ignore it…
Hi agag – it was a fantastic win with a stunning performance..
If it was that simple, you would be managing Arsenal Ts.
Lewis- WBA will be a test.. at least it is not a 12 pm kick-off on a Saturday for Tv purposes…
Hopefully no injuries were picked up last night; SC19 starts training and may be will be on the bench…
My worry is that last year after this same international break we lost to Norwich who with Chris Hughton seem to have AW’s number…
He beat us when with Newcastle and also with Norwich… hopeful its the new Arsenal….
Nice post Adam 10:38. I noticed a difference in atmosphere at the emirates during the stoke game, the performance was quite a bit flatter than last night but the fans seemed a lot more together and more prepared to make some noise than I have seen for a good few years.
Winning is a good healer, as you mentioned the Villa game must have been hellish to witness first hand.
WBA is Sunday, 4pm thanks goodness.
Hope so TS. no game is easy in the prem, the cannot take their foot off the gas.
🙂 I enjoy what I do Rico… last week I stayed in 3 major European cities; I may not get paid a fraction of AW’s but I don’t need the stress and abuse so I will pass…
Agag, has it stopped raining in Manilla?
When I said Adam… I meant Tony Adam please… phew
Recent events and comments made about the financial restraints over the past few years have given an insight to the mind set of the board. You have to remember that these people were the same ones that lined their own pockets when they sold out to Stan. It would appear that Wenger was managing with one hand tied up but it also needs reminding that a lot of the limited cash he did have was wasted on gambling on players that he hoped to develop. Some of them came on nicely others didn’t.
Wenger’s fault or the purse string holders ? A question that’s remained unanswered and caused supporters to take sides. If you criticise in any way ,even if your aim is at the board , you are seen to be anti Wenger , something the BSM movement has to deny at every turn.
We have always been two or three quality players away from being successful throughout the ” great drought ” A loosening of the purse strings to buy 1 quality player a year instead of two , three or four shirt fillers would have kept not only the winning vibe in the club but probably the top, top players that we are now looking to replace. Take the current squad and add in the ones that left , RVP, Cesc and even Nasri and where would we be now.? That’s the criticism I have , not the man but the policies he was forced to follow.
My comment was in reply to your suggestion that Adam could manage if it was that simple.
Adams* even
It was, wasn’t it, rico? And the great thing is that we have good players coming back. Things are looking very bright, indeed! Was happy to see TR7 back. Even when some of his passes were going astray; that man never looks out of place in an Arsenal line-up.
Adam, how did you celebrate? 🙂
Hello, ginge, Scott, Lewis! 🙂
I do not see how you took it that way Rico… that is why I mentioned Baresi who was Milan’s Tony Adams…
Anyway I think you are in the mood where everything I type cheeses you off…
catch you all later…
To a degree I agree potter, but I still don’t understand why we spent so much money on 2/3 very average players, rather than use all the money to sign just one great player. One who would have made a difference.
And, on top of that, we even extended some players deals like Djourou and Bendtner for example…
I just hope that those days are long behind us…
I actually think that’s good for Jack. He has been pumped up by the media more than Theo was.
This way there will be less focus on JW, he can get on with his development, the media can focus on Townsend and Sterling and other youngsters.
We have other class midfielders to take the pressure off his shoulders and to learn from.
I’m not in any mood Ts, but I just get fed up with some telling others how to think. I get fed up with comments on here relating to fans who post elsewhere – they are not here to reply or defend their view which in any case, they are entitled to…
It was mostly sunny today, ginge.
Potter, we’d walk the league with RvP. I mean, I will never forgive him for the way he left, but there. 😉
Rico I agree and that’s my point , I think the board baulked at paying the price for one player and tried to keep overhead costs down by renewing rather than spending. I think they gave a budget and he had to work within it knowing that we always were two or three short. He was trying to climb a ladder on a sandy beach, every time he got three rungs up his best players got sold and the ladder sank two rungs down. He was always throwing fours and not given a pair of sixes ( for those that have played snakes and ladders )
Metaphors are us..
I wonder why though Potter, he should have threatened to leave, they’d have soon changed their minds then maybe…
I guess one day, long after he’s gone, he’ll write a book and then we’ll all know what went on…
I remember snakes and ladders well….
Again Adam…that was directed at the masses, not you.
Rico, no matter what stance someone takes..negative or positive….they will cop some over time.
Whether or not the person on either side of the equation can alter their view is what counts.
I concede i can never take a negative view so i am as guilty as anyone 🙂
Lewis, Ramsey was playing superbly before Ozil joined, so i do ot believe that is the only factor, but it has helped as he is been even better since Mesut joined.
There are so many factors contributing to our current form…no one thing stands out.
The link is Wenger.
Rico, we are all told what to think by others at some point.
We are all passionate, and that comes across in our posts.
But there’s a way of putting the point over Scott…
Maybe I’m just too polite, although Adam would strongly disagree 😉
Have to agree re Ramsey, and quite a few others were playing well too. What Ozil has done imho, is give the entire place a huge lift.
Players in the summer were talking and wanting a big name or two and now we can see why. Look at Ches, simply signing the Italian no2 keeper has made him far more focussed, even his kicking is staying in play 😉
this season has started well, we all feared the worse, everyone. It’s seems five minutes ago we were breaking all the wrong records so of course some will be restrained in their declaration Wenger is god’s gift to football (again) Not one us would want it any other way. It was five minutes ago players were declaring “we don’t do defensive training” and five minutes ago we were hearing “we don’t need to watch other teams, we make them play our game, as we get bundled out of the cup by another nobody – short memories. I say again, we all love whats happening now, long may it continue but lets not get carried away
We all make a choice Scott, we read and hear things yes, but ultimately we choose what to believe and the way in which we express those views to others…
You and I think similar Oz, I’m loving what is going on right now but each game I fear Giroud will get injured..
I like to think I judge things game by game, day by day and I can only talk about what I see.
Right now Arsene is getting things very right so he’s in my good books, but I couldn’t bury my head in the sand when things weren’t right and to be honest, our squad is still short but there’s nothing to be done about that right now…
Rico – my point is following the money trail spent, there should have been at least one real quality signing 20m+ each season – Ozil is proof of what a bit of quality can do, although I understand he was twice that much due to the Bale situation mainly. We seemed to have learned something from Mr Ozil and its just not true to claim we suddenly materialised 100m to spend. He’s had serious bucks for years but wanted to prove everyone wrong. He didn’t. So he gets one or two right, he’s transferred truck loads, many of which have and are still costing us money because no one wants them.
Oz, i never feared the worse.
I may have been in the minority, but i was not alone.
Don’t drag us all down because some of us were right.
As Rico said, we all choose to believe what we believe.
Oh, and Ozil is yet to win us a game.
He has added to the squad, and is a sensational signing, but to suggest we are having success because we got him…well, that is an insult to Wenger and all other players.
Scott – some of us are right after 6 games mate? and on to your next post, trust me, you play football for a club that suddenly signs a real name and everyone and i do mean everyone lifts. Its not debatable the Ozil arrival has been huge Scott in so many ways
Again i ask why suddenly the crowd at The Emirates are singing and very vocal.
Ozil….a big money signing?
Winning games?
I never stopped singing 🙂
But I agree with that Oz about the one big signing, but we did get that last summer when we signed Podolski and Cazorla, both were pretty big players. Giroud has been an unexpected surprise for me..
For me the problem has been about the quality players we have sold, but not truly replaced…
But, as said earlier, hopefully that will now be a thing of the past..
Scott, I knew you’d jump on that one, you have always remained positive despite what has been going on… Not sure how mind you 😉
Oz, i said he was a sensational signing.
We have played brilliantly since Xmas….we have had the guy for a few weeks.
I accept the fact you will never give credit to Wenger, no matter what.
Because the team are playing well Scott..
Haha Rico.
It is a matter of perspective.
As much as i can not begin to fully appreciate the perspective of you guys who are born into the Arsenal, i guess the reverse applies.
I had a smile on mu face all day today, even though i was working.
Loved it.
Watching the replay now.
Imho, it’s taken the fans a while to warm up, we had the Villa debacle and disbelief set in early. The NLD victory came at the right time and fans were happy then it’s slowly improved and on nights like last night, fans are really happy..
Chicken and egg situation really, the team needs the fans, the fans need the team playing well, right now, it’s all ticking along nicely …
But Rico, the lack of support from crowds was due to the lack of spending, and that is in their own words…their own chants.
Scott. Cut me, do I not bleed? 🙂
Success brings fans, no doubt.
True fans??
Well, i reckon true fans stay true regardless, but that is just my opinion.
If we spent money and were running 12th, how would the fans be reacting, given they had got what they asked for?
Are they suddenly giving cedit to Wenger for spending, but more importantly on the right player!
No.
They are deflecting the credit to themselves, the fans, who “got what they wanted”.
Again, some will never give Wenger credit, no matter what.
At the end of the day though, as long as the club is going well, we are all happy, and that is brilliant.
Yes you do Adam…red with white shoulders 🙂
I should have worded my original post differently…….and apologise for that.
You are there, and i wanted your thoughts on the masses.
Still, i reckon it is official…we are a bloody good club right now 🙂
Morning,
Well said Potter, rico
I really don’t see what’s all the fuss about..
Most fans criticise the club and the manager when things weren’t going right.. In fact the same mistakes and howlers were repeated year after year and we kept talking about that year after year..
Things changed now so we praise the manager and players.. There is no hypocrisy there..
Ramsey was really awful last two seasons, got better the end of last season, he is in superb form at the moment..
Same progress could have been achieved without undermining the team chances of competing and the poor lad getting the unfair criticism.. then again may be that criticism what made him today.. We never know..
All matter now is the team is performing and wenger looks like he is up for it..
Credit to all..
Yes, good point Scott, but that was because AW needed to.
Thankfully he signed a biggy in Ozil but he mustn’t stop there, if we only sign a striker in Jan, it will make a huge difference..
Then come the summer, two or three more and we are done 😛
I don’t forget the frustrations of watching Wengers antics, hearing the crap they all spun over the last however long.
I am glad however that we have changed our style, who that’s down to, I don’t know and credit to that person or team for it.
Noddy badges for all the told you so people that Wenger will turn things around. I personally would’ve prefered Suarez for 50m as i feel he is more needed than Ozil’s role.
just for you Scot, not that i like being right or anything – this was at 9.43am “very good result hats off to them all including Wenger”
Can’t disagree with that Judge…
Jmim, i can not remember murmuring the word hypocrisy, nor reading it.
I am arguing the point that some can not, even now, give credit where it is due, that’s all.
Ramsey would not be anywhere near the player he is now if not played regularly though.
No player gets experience, confidence amd finds from on the bench.
No more preaching from me, i promise 🙂
What happened to Blue Peter badges bradster 😉
Those antics and spin run deep in me and it will take a lot more than Ozil to remove them, but as you say, right now it’s good, very good and that’s what matters…
Agreed Rico…..Januray could be huge for us.
I hope we are in contention….it may convince him to spend and strengthen our chances.
And so could January 🙂
bradster – it was the statement as much as the player IMO – whether it was Ozil, Rooney or Suarez the place would be buzzing and as Rico said “it can not be allowed to stop with one”
Where did my last comment go? 🙁
but I did give him credit Scott – as i did last night as many will testify? Do i rate him considering his resources, no i don’t. Am i open to saying i am wrong if he actually does deliver the finals and EPL race contenders he keeps declaring we are, yes i am.
None of these things are purely black and white Scott, It’s not a given that to make any criticism means that it’s a Wenger out agenda . I blow hot and cold on him , I try to understand his constraints ,but I can see the negatives and the positives . He is not deity but some do treat him as such.
Don’t know about that Scott, Walcott learned a lot on the bench at the start of last season 😉
we had a vote agag and threw it in the bin 🙂 Hello to you
The AW of the past would be more tempted not to spend if we are in a good place Scott, fingers crossed those silly beliefs are gone…
If we maintain our current soaring form and buy Suarez in January, we can well win everything. But I am getting ahead of myself. 😉
and you wonder why your posts end up in the bin agag 🙂
Rico – that is so spot on
oz, hahaha. It wasn’t anything meaningful or enlightening, to be honest. 😀
🙂
I have suffered a fair amount of abuse from some who think he is Potter, someone who used to post here regularly until I put a picture up in the sidebar of Arsene looking like Ebenezer. He got quite upset…
You are harsh, oz. 😀
It’s not in spam agag…
did you get a sleep before the game Scott? I was up right through to 3am then got to bed at 5.30 and our new boxer pup was jumping on me at 8.05, telling her new dad she needed to pee – wonderful
I think I remember that blogger, rico. Used to tussle with EVERYONE. 😉
I know it’s not Arsenal related but Bale is injured, could be out for a while.. Shucks.
Amazing how the press are riding the Ozil wave as well – Ozil this Ozil that – the boys a star!!
85m sitting on the treatment table ‘ouch’
You have a boxer? Nice. I have a chow-spitz and husky-lab. 😀
you can get tablets for that now-a-days agag 🙂
At times agag, yes, wouldn’t hear a bad word on AW..
Not Will though agag 😉
Haha, oz. They eat lot. And won’t stop barking. But they are fluffy and well, sweet. 🙂
He got on well with SSP, rico. 😉
Ozil told the club’s official website. “You could see that the fans really supported us up until the last minute.
“What was important was that we won the game. Of course I’m pleased to have scored, especially at home. It was my way of thanking the fans.”
Hi Agag. Sorry. I am on and off this morning with visits and phone calls etc.
I celebrated with a green tea and a slice of toast with peanut butter and strawberry jam last night when we got home. I really know how to live don’t I? 🙂
The point I tried to make earlier was simply that the joy and excitement of a performance and win like that should be unifying and enjoyed for what it is. It has been a long time since the fan base was so united. I really cannot believe how some people want to cash-in and use it for purposes of ‘I told you so’ and other ego-driven trips of fantasy.
It is possible to be rubbish and then great within a reasonably short time.
I can’t recall agag. It was very early in the HH days.
By the way, I love the black lab going for a paddle 😉
Adam – you are right there mate – game to game for some, take Chelsea and City and United as current examples
Adam, PB&J sandwich!!! You high-roller, you. 😀 I am pleased as punch we are playing as well as we are right now. We have been very inconsistent for so long, so it’s a thrill to see how well certain players have progressed. We need a striker to rotate with Giroud though. 🙂
rico, the dog was in the water for ages. 🙂
I also thought i actually saw Giroud run like a real athlete last night, what’s up with that? Yet more new coaching influences at the club?
and before anyone jumps i thought he did very well….
As would ours be agag, she adores the sea, not too deep though, she only has little legs 😉
I thought he was very good last night too Oz, very good..
I am Agag. One of the finer things in life. Needs to be the right quality of ingredients though.
Me too Oz.
Alongside his performance against Spurs, Giroud was outstanding.
I also believe that Flamini has made a huge difference to our midfield, he’s constantly talking, organising and players around trust him..
And yes, I got his resigning very wrong…. Hey ho eh, who cares 😉
Add Marmite to that combination Adam, it’s lovely….
That dog was out in the open water, we were all impressed. 🙂 I should take our dogs swimming. But I don’t know where. 🙂
The English do love their Marmite. 😀 Adam, are you a fan of those fancy Michelin-starred restos?
I feel about Marmite as you do about Green Tea Rico. 🙂
Agag. I have the taste for them most certainly and I have been fortunate enough to eat in many of London’s finest. But I prefer Haddock, mash and a wally with my dear mate in The Ark Kev or Lentils, Rice and a Peshwari Nan washed down with a vat of Cava with my friends Rico, Rocky, Lee and Kev. It’s the company that makes the meal for me.
Scott, your 10:22 right on point. You tick all the boxes. Even AW can’t argue that. 🙂
There are none so fancy in Manila, Adam. I appreciate the invention and delicacy of those places, but I always feel a little faint when I see the bill. 😀 You are right, of course, it is always whom you break bread with that maters. 🙂
Hello, Nash. I trust you are happy with last night’s performance. 🙂
🙂 Adam, I loved my Chana Dhal….
The company was ok I suppose 😉
Some our really strong swimmers agag, very impressive…
So will it be Gnabry and Cazorla on the weekend or Wilshere and Rosicky on the wings?
Good question Bradster – I hope Cazorla doesn’t play, then he might be kept back from the internationals..
off for an hour now, Fido needs a walk…
Hi agag, I’m with you re: RVP. Imagine him coming in or OG12 likewise. We could be gunning for the double.
Happy? that’s an understatement. When we loss I lose appetite. Yesterday was fantastic. Still beaming from ear to ear.
he should have threatened to leave, they’d have soon changed their minds then maybe…””
I don’t absolve him from everything though Rico , I am sure the position was laid out in front of him and he agreed to work to the system . I think that’s where the 4th place trophy came from. He knew that with the restraints that’s as good as it got. As you say the book will be interesting perhaps it could be called ” Revelations ” unless the church threaten a copyright suit.
Super Post Rico.
Lovely and accurate comment Scott Ozil 1022am – You are correct.
Adam 1038am – Nice comment and the fans united can be a key driver. Lets turn Emirates into a fortress where the players can express themselves without fear of being berated.
We MUST sign Sagna to a 3year deal. He is a warrior for us.
I am intrigued to see Cazorla back, he is a gem. Teams cannot now double mark him only, because of Ozil.
The vibes are flowing positively, my missus cannot believe how happy i am after games now. Floating on cloud 9. Let us Gooners enjoy this, battle together and focus on the positive.
Cheers
potter – given the information we now have, I think Wenger is the system
Oz certainly complicit but working within the constraints laid down by the board. That’s how I see it.
Where’s Adam, I am feeling a bit mundane…. 😉
Afternoon All…
Where’s Madam Genius?
Hiya Rico….
Afternoon all..
Potter, neither do I, not for one minute…
Thanks A117
Hi Kev, still smiling?? 😉
The news on Jack Jebb is concerning…
Jebb has been at Arsenal for many years, and played with many players of different nationalities… So if he was some closet Nazi, one would imagine that he would have been outted by now?!!!
The fact that nobody from the opposition complained make me suspicious that this might be a case of precious PC officials, making themselves ‘busy’…???
If the club get rid of him, then that will answer my doubts…
If the club retains him then is will pose some questions of the officials involved…
Still smiling Rico…
Saw the goals awhile ago, Ozil’s was a technical master class…
I suppose a classic case of you get what you pay for….
The fact that nobody from the opposition complained make me suspicious that this might be a case of precious PC officials, making themselves ‘busy’…???
Shows how things have changed in this PC world since I finished playing some 15 years ago. Some of the things that went between players would make peoples hair curl now. In my day it was only if the remarks were addressed to a referee or his officials that anything was done.
I too was surprised re Jebb Kev, especially the ‘no complaint’ bit, seems a bit odd to me… I just can’t see that kind of behaviour going on at our club.
Certainly not since AW has been manager..
I was speechless after his goal Kev, the way he finished was, well, £43 million worth of finish 😉
Potter – it’s the ‘3rd party’ complainant that’s been brought in by the PC maniacs…
I know of someone who got reprimanded for asking a black lady working in a canteen for a ‘spoon’ to go with his meal, breakfast consisting of a boiled egg….
She didn’t make the complaint by the way….
I am here Kev? Still….
I am still watching you too.
Just saw you drive down the Marylebone Road.
Rico, you, speechless?
Yes Adam, hard to believe I know but…
Enough’s enough rico, you can let tsgh outta your pocket now.
Adam, she was probably sucking on a vegitarian nut cutlet at the time.
Oi Oi Micko, don’t your start on me…. 😉
In any case, I have a nut allergy…
Rico……. Speechless……… Nah…….
I was driving down the Westway towards Shepherds Bush 30mins ago..,
And the hairs were standing on the back of my neck….
Must have been my driving…. Or was it????
Adam, how’s it going buddy?
Was it rocking at the Grove last night???
You’ll get me a reputation of being a chatter box Kev 😉
What happened?
Don’t know why but I’m really looking forward to the Citeh / Bayern game tonight.
Do they still have a market down Sheperds Bush Kev or am I showing my age ?
Is it only being shown on Sky Sports Micko, if so, that might be why you are looking forward to it 😉
Its on the box here rico, cheap nite in for a change, I’d love the Germans to give them a good spanking.
Micko. I love a good spanking myself.
That’s good then and yes, so would I, a big spanking, and the other Manchester side, hope they get roughed up and beaten too…
Trust you Adam.
I’d imagine you’d have had the slipper out last night Adam, a damn good win ole boy.
Rico. 🙂
Micko. Last night, as all nights, I was a model of restrained enthusiasm as an English gentleman. It was, as you say, a great win and I actually felt quite privileged to have been there. Great vibe in the stadium.
Always count on me Adam… 😉
You still haven’t answered Adam, were you singing ‘there’s only one Arsene Wenger’ at the end? 🙂
You mentioned it was up there with the Barca game, I was over that night, an unforgettable experience, we need more nights like that, the crowd really can make the difference.
I gotta do a game before christmas !!!
The pundits on SS’s often get a bit of stick, but they also said we played the best football seen since that Barca game, even Hoddle said we were fantastic…
Off to get dinner now, catch up later..
Rico. No, I gave that one a miss although Wenger deserved the accolade fully.
After his 1000th lung busting run of the evening Ramsay slipped a pass through but couldn’t make the return. A funny bloke behind us shouted “Come on Ramsay, you lazy bastard”. Totally tongue in cheek obviously, but the fact that it cracked everyone up was praise enough for another great contribution from him. It was typical humour through irony of the type that is somehow peculiarly British.
🙂 Adam – it’s really good to hear the fans are up and in full voice and humour….
I’d agree too, he got everything spot on last night…
All quiet here so I’ll bid you all a good night…
Catch up tomorrow sometime….
Good evening all.
Was that Napoli last night?
Are we about to do the double over Napoli.
The lads are winning 1-0 (Akpom) at H/T .
Jack Jebb is playing and I gather is having a good game. I was told
he was the only one of his age group who was not offered a pro contract,I wonder if todays news had anything to do with it.
Morning all.
I was a “little” fired up last night, but really was directing things to Gooners worldwide and nobody in particular….sorry if it offended anyone.
I was just so pumped after seeing one of the most complete performances from an Arsenal side in years.
Oz, i did get a decent kip before the game, up at 4.30 am for kick off which explains why i stopped posting early last night….. I fell asleep in the lounge 🙂
Where is everyone?
Just like last night we dominted Napoli winning 4-1, and it could have been more, Akpom scord one Pen then missed a second ,Our scorers Akpom 2 Lipman 2. Just like the first team the Lads are top
of the group. Two other points 8 of the team were English and most were under eighteen and they were all playing the Arsen way.
Hi Scott…
Good update Rick… how did you catch this match?
Do you know if any UEFA u-19 games will be played at the Erms…?
Yanited 1-1.lol
I’m usually lurking Rick…
Lurking?lol
Bayern were fantastic tonight, dominated from the 1st minute and should have won by a lot more, their 2nd goal summed it up for me ” Clichy, why bother ”
I’d even go as far to say they might give us a run for our money on this display.
How’s you tsgh, I was worried about ya !
The Arsenal are on fire 🙂
Micko, they weren’t THAT good 🙂
I thought you would be around Rico. I wish I had your get and go.
Ginge Iam not sure where they are being played but logic tells me the Ems is a no no. The next game in the C/lg is B/D on the 22n Oct and the U 19 play B/d at home the following day,Then on the
25th the Under 21s are playing at he Ems I cannot see them playing there 3times in 4days can you?. I have been told that
Akpom and Lipman formed a great partnership tonight and Hayden
also had a good game. I think that both Akpom and Hayden will see action in the first team this season.
Rick, I don’t have that much get up and go honest 😉
Scott, with Pep in charge they’ve been likened to Barca but with more power and pace, they’re gonna be a tough nut to crack, you know they’re gonna be there or there abouts, we’ll just have to do ’em the final eh !!!
That would be something Micko…
Rico, I find that had to believe you always out with woofter and with your Chucks. And then you have the time to run H/H. In my old age I call that get up and go.
Definitely off this time, night….
Rick, I hope you mean the woofa 😉
All done at slow pace I can assure you…
Rico , sorry I did mean the woofa Time for me to go Goodnight.
Yeah, now you mention it Rick she does come across as a bit contrary doesn’t she !
Nite rico, Rick, Scott, tsgh, Jim Bob.
Adam and Rico discussing spanking!!!!!
Bloody hell, I always miss all the fun… 😉
Night guys.
Evening Kev.
Micko, the final would be great time to roll them 🙂
Morning Scott…
Jack Jebb played tonight, hmm, now that just tells ya all you need to know I suppose.
If there was anything untoward as far as the allegations suggested about his behaviour or truth to them, then I simply cannot imagine that the coaching staff would have allowed him to play tonight…
Another shit-stirring non-story methinks?
Well they have nothing nasty and factual to say about the club, so why not just make crap up lol
The media and the Internet in particular is a playground for fantasists and their inventive nonsense as we see on a daily basis. I, for instance, am the King of Sardinia.
All Hail Adam, the King of Sardinia….
We are not worthy M’Lud
Arise Sir Kev, Lord Of the haddock, Master Of The Bridge Of Sighs and take your place at my right hand at the round table named Percy Circus.
Apparently Jebb was given a 4 game ban and fined £1,800…
The Incident in question happened back in March…
Not sure when Jebb served the 4 game ban?
Has he served it yet or has the case just been heard or is it a case of ‘old news’ to try to upset us???
Whatever the answer, he played tonight, so fcuk off shit-stirrers…
Please accept my apologies for my plebiscite language your Highness… 🙂
Dear me, The Lord of the Haddock…
I am speechless….
But not as speechless as Rico…
Your Highness am forever in your debt.
Thanks in anticipation for the Royal CD…
Does this mean that I am now a Fellow of the Flat Earth Society???
Just about to doze off so nighty Kev….
Oops? Definite a Flat Earther and Cd ready on the morrow.
Gone now.
Night Adam…
The King Adam?
Prince maybe 🙂
Kev, fair retraction mate……strange the news never came out months ago though.
Kev, that’s a shocker of a story to make up about Jebb, I would imagine the club have already called a solicitor….
Unless he has appealed and allowed to play during the interim period but can’t see that really…
Morning all,
Rick, the reason I mentioned the Erms is because last season the next gen between us and OM was played at the grove …
The club said they would play one reserve premiership game and one next gen at the Erms…
We have already played one reserve game at the Erms thi season so…
I know the Next Gen competition is canned for this year but…
Anyway good result for the boys…
Or of course, it could be he is just banned for all English competitions…
New post will go up around 9.30…
My bad, it was against CSKA Moscow in march…
