Mexes/Bendtner swap? Sahin and M'Vila deals close? Chamakh to the Totts & Song's behaviour problems…….

Morning Gooners,

Where to begin??

How about with Tottenham, suggestion is AVB want our star striker Chamakh on loan for a season! Well you wouldn’t normally want to be doing any kind of business with them but on this occasion, Arsenal fans might feel differently. However, I still believe we’d be better off selling him rather than loaning him but if he has to go there then so be it, at least he’d be exempt from playing against us, watching him pop up with a winner would be catastrophic!

Next up is Songinho, seems the poor boy has been struggling to get to training on time and when he finally gets there he has been driving Wenger and his staff to distraction. That, added to his defensive indiscipline on the pitch last season is the reason Arsene Wenger has been checking out a few alternatives.

Anyway, up popped Barcelona with a little bit of interest in the player.

Wenger got all excited and as soon as Alex Song said he’d like to move to Spain it sounds like Arsene nipped off to Easy Jet, bought him his flight ticket, one way of course, and said ok, on yer bike son.

Wenger said:

There are different reasons, I don’t want to come out with that now, but it happened. Every case is individual and maybe one day I will explain everything.

Looking forward to that day Arsene.

Anyway, Song travelled to Spain yesterday apparently and we should hear that he has signed for them within the next few hours.

Whilst Song is having his medical, we can assume that Nuri Sahin will be at having his in London real soon too, maybe today after all the football journalists and television channels suggested that the player only wants to join us and Jose has agreed to that. Reports suggest that we have first option to buy Sahin should Real Madrid decide to sell him at the end of the season.

Like buses, where there is one, a second comes along right after and this is in the shape of Yann M’Vila.

According to canal+ and others, Rennes Sporting Director Pierre Dreossi believes that M’Vila played his last game for his current club yesterday. This of course has kicked into overdrive suggestion that he is heading to The Emirates to replace Song.

We all know M’Vila has said he wants to play in the Premier League and Champions League. He’s also said he would like to play for a French Manager so of course, 2+2 = Arsenal. The ever reliable Jamie Sanderson confirmed that Wenger is looking to sign a natural defensive midfielder yesterday too so that adds weight to the M’Vila story.

The Daily Mail again report that AC Milan are set to offer Philippe Mexes as part of a deal to secure the signing of Nicklas Bendtner. The stumbling block is wages, and no, not Bendtner’s.

Last word of the day goes to Olivier Giroud who was talking about his miss on Saturday:

It was a game ball, but the coach told me that I had not to worry about it. This could have been the dream start, but in Montpellier, I did not score for my first game, so I am not worried. Here, I will have plenty of chances and I will score.

I am just asking people to be a little patient with me. I am not here to make people forget Robin, because he has made beautiful things here, but I just want to bring something new. However, I am under no more pressure than that, because if I think about that when I go onto the field, I will play with the handbrake on.

Last season was wonderful here for Robin, but before that, he took time to settle.

Olivier is right, it took him eight years!!

This week could see the final pieces of the Arsene Wenger jigsaw fall nicely into place and then for once, we can all watch deadline day of the transfer window knowing that whatever bargains Arsene Wenger snaps up will be a bonus rather than a necessity.

That’s it for another day, have a good one

    Morning Gooners.
Morning Rico, a mighty fine post…
Not happy about the M’Vila to Spuds rumours, seems we are getting mixed messages from everywhere and everyone…
A sure sign that nobody really knows….
20million euros is a lot of dough and the major stumbling block….

  2. TT says:

Love Giraud already. He has the right attitude and will be a big player for us in the future. Hope we get Sahin and if we add M’Vila to that I will be fcuking ecstatic.

  3. allezkev says:

15 million euros sounds about right, and Spuds are as carefull with their dough as Arsenal, so Reenes might have a job pushing up the price…
The Arsenal linkage could be from their side, in order to scare the Spuds into raising their bid?

  4. allezkev says:

Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp both took a few games to start scoring for Arsenal.

Both broke their duck against Southampton, so the 15th September is when both Podolski and Giroud will get off of the mark…..

Rennes confirm Yann M’Vila is likely to join Tottenham and not Arsenal

Posted by SPORT WITNESS on August 20, 2012 at 8:31 in Sport Witness FootballView Discussions

The departure of Alex Song to Barcelona had re-opened the possibility of Yann M’Vila moving to Arsenal. His transfer to Arsene Wenger’s side seemed to be nailed on at the beginning of the transfer window and simply waiting confirmation. Almost every major newspaper and websites like Goal said a deal was agreed between the clubs.

When that didn’t happen, it was assumed Arsenal had got cold feet after he was arrested for allegedly hitting his sister’s 17 year old boyfriend and he spent the night in a police cell. It wasn’t the first time M’Vila had been involved in trouble and Wenger isn’t usually a fan of bad-boys.

However, it could have been more to do with using transfer funds to bring in Giroud when he learnt Robin van Persie would be leaving. Another striker would have appeared more urgent than a midfielder at the time, but now that Song has left the club a resurgence of interest in Yann M’Vila would make sense to cover that area of the pitch but Arsenal are firmly behind Tottenham in the chase for the Rennes man.

Italy’s Calciomercato have a knack of picking up the phone and calling agents and club representatives and yesterday did just that with Rennes and were told “Yes, we are dealing with Tottenham, the offer is still a bit low, but we are confident.”

Rennes want €20m and Tottenham so far have only offered €15m, the Ligue 1 side are keen to sell so Spurs probably won’t need to go much higher if the quotes from Rennes are correct, and not simply meant to push Arsenal into action.

    Thanks Kev

I don’t believe that M’Vila story – no CL footie to offer, unless AW really doesn’t want him…

    Morning all.
Four weeks ago I wrote a piece re: “INTENT” and in it described Song as “The weakest link” being very careful of how I wrote it. In these times of political correctness, you have to be.

The Mirror ran a story late last night to suggest what I saw on the pitch was actually, very “spot on”.
As ANR has stated this morning ( http://www.arsenalnewsreview.co.uk/index.php/news/2609/30/Sahin-for-Song-would-be-a-magnificent-result ) the ridding our team of Song and his replacement with Sahin is a mega, mega result for the club. I cannot stress what a GREAT deal this is.
We have got mega money for our weakest link and in return – providing the deal doesn’t fall through, we have got one of the best midfielder’s, or potentially one of the best midfielder’s in Europe. Europe – not Africa.
And that’s not it. Rennes stated on L’Equipe that M’Vila would not be playing for them again.
If these two stories are true, then what I asked for 4 weeks ago, is coming to fruition. We are showing INTENT.
Two more exceptional players to add to the squad…. ?

Listening to the Three Stooges on MOTD, Lineker stressed, “These must be worrying times for Arsenal fans?”

    The man is an idiot.
THIS IS CURRENTLY THE BEST PRE SEASON since we bought Sol Campbell. Richard Wright, Gio Van Bronkhurst and Francis Jeffers.

As for Shearer and Hanson stating that Arsenal, will be nowhere, I disagree totally. They may have played top level football, but as is often said – the majority of footballers are brainless.

I feel that once this side gels and Wenger plays his best eleven, that we’ll push on all four fronts.

Arsenal will win the Premier League.

  16. ike@Ghana says:

Let us not put unnecessary pressure on our newcomers. They need to settle down well and must do this under no pressure. Scoring on your debut and flopping after few games is worse than missing glorious opportunities in few games and learning lessons to flourish the whole season. Santi,Giroud and Poldi will push Arsenal for the FA cup and win the league next season.
I still doubt if M’Vila is not heading towards Spurd.
Sahin(Wilshere) /Arteta/ Santi midfield + OX, Gerv, Poldi upfront would be a magnificent Arsenal for any battle. The team has better depth than last season as Giroud, Theo, Ramsey, Coquelin, Diaby, TR7 are all first team materials to choose from on the bench.
Wenger and his coaching staff rather have a selection headache and not the departure of RVP and Song.

  17. Joywedsjeff says:

Morning all…Midfield= carzorla, sahin, arteta, mvilla, rosicky, diaby, coq, wilshere, frimpong, lansbury, ramsey. Which 3 will make your stating eleven assuming all are fit

  18. rico says:

Morning Syg, I too still think we need M’Vila or similar. Sahin is only a loan and if he has a great season, Jose won’t sell him.

Imho he is ‘cover’ for Jack, we need a rock in our midfield for now, and the seasons ahead..

  19. rico says:

    Hi joyswed

4 for me in a 442 – Cazorla, Sahin, Arteta and M’Vila with the Pod and Giroud up front 🙂

That’s good Adam – hope you went left and not right from there 😉

  20. Ryan L says:

    Morning All.

Surely that Chamackh story is so too good to be true that its actually a sick joke !!

Nice to see that Arsene has obviously been giving Olivier, English lessons or Olivier has picked up a book with well know AW sayings – what else can be the reason for the presence of the “handbrake” term?! I can see it now, his first goal is definitely going to be greeted with some reference to “zee mental strength” 🙂

In all seriousness, hopefully some of the ongoing transfer talk does turn out to be true, as a week ago it looked like we were actually making some serious investment in the first team squad. But one week and £40Million later, it feels a little bit like Groundhog Day and the need for another transfer window surplus !! But all this does show that 7 days in football is a long time, so hopefully next week we will have a couple of World Class signings off the back of having smashed Pulis’ cloggers.

  21. Adam says:

And you Lee. I tracked you to Spain recently and waited for a seismic event to be recorded and then homed in on you.

Nuri Sahin – ‘For me Arsene Wegner is one of the best trainers in the world’
    2012-08-20 01:39:54

Arsenal are close to completing a one-year loan deal for Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Şahin.

The Turkish international first caught the eye of Arsene Wenger in the 2005 U-17 World Cup in Peru. Wenger described the young midfielder, saying, “Şahin is one of the greatest U-18 talents in world football.”

Şahin went on to win the Bronze Ball and Silver Shoe awards for his impressive performances in the Turkish national team shirt and lifted the UEFA European U-17 Championships the same season.

Wenger’s fondness of Şahin is no secret but what isn’t so well known is the young midfielder’s admiration of the Arsenal boss.

In an interview conducted by state-funded German television channel Deutsche-Welle in 2010 Şahin was asked about his opinion on Wenger calling him one of the greatest U-18 talents in football.

Şahin replied by saying, “For me it was beautiful, Arsene Wegner is one of the best trainers in the world.

“At that time I was one of the most talented youngster’s in Europe, if he said that it makes me happy.

“I want to ask him, ‘Is it true what you were reported to have said and that you wanted me?’ and maybe we can work together.”

Wenger has made reinforcing the holding midfield position one of his transfer priorities this summer, following the injury of Jack Wilshere and the sale of Alex Song to Barcelona for £15 million.

Şahin is well suited to the Arsenal system and is noted for his passing range, vision and creativity.

The Turkish international midfielder was left out of Real’s weekend draw against Valencia and is expected to join Arsenal this week.

  25. Joywedsjeff says:

Brilliant choice mi lady. 4 4 2. It is for me too. I feel pold and handbrake sorry giroud need to play together until we know who is actually number one… We saw it against cologne. Wait i just noticed… No walcott in your starting eleven? Wow….

  26. Scott from Oz says:

    Steve is on to something.
Yes,we all gaped in awe at RVP’s goals, but he did miss an absolute truckload last season as well.
I am not saying this after he has left us,I actually said it during last season.
Credit where it’s due…..he was brilliant enough to get into position,ut credit where it’s due right back…Girouds movement followed by Cazorlas pass were both world class.
Yes,the finish left a little to be desired, but we know the guy is a goal scorer,so I can’t wait to see him hit the back of the net.

  27. southyorkshiregunner says:

Hiya Lee, Rico, Adam, Kev etc..
I think “we’re” being slightly underwhelmed by Sahin, Rico.
Personally I think it will be a fantastic deal, and after being here – providing he gets the game time, he’ll certainly not want to go back to Spain.

Give Song a few games over there and he’ll feel the same once the Catalan-fans and press get on his back.
That will happen as his attitude and body language stink.

    He WILL hate the place.

  28. rico says:

hi bondex, look forward to that day, no wonder Dixon jumped ship….

🙂 joyswed, Theo and Gerv on the bench. Good subs to have

  29. Scott from Oz says:

Oh,and AK,if you moon me from your beachside property,I’ll send my pet Great White over to bite you right on your pale white arse.
All Aussies have one…..just like the Kangaroo bouncing around our yards! 🙂

  30. Joywedsjeff says:

Just curious rico… I read last season on LG that they get calls from the club trying to correct the spurious info they give out there. Have you ever gotten any calls from arsenal PR

  31. rico says:

No honest Syg, I’m chuffed to bits he’s signing, if he does, but still want M’Vila/Capoue.

That way, no more making do with Diaby or pushing a player like Arteta back…

M’Vila and Sahin in our midfield would be simply awesome….

  32. bondex says:

Ryan L…i agree with you,one of the easiest ways to get along with your boss real fast is to learn his language… handbrakes, mental strength, our passing wasn’t sharp enough and the likes…

  33. rico says:

Scott – I don’t forget ‘his’ fluffed shots but he’s gone for me, no more thought towards him. onwards and upwards and with two great players up front…

joyswed – I have never heard from the club but tbh, I never profess to know what is going on, I just go on what is in the news or on twitter and make clear it’s rumours only…

I think LG suggest they have inside information which they may have, I don’t know for sure…

  34. Joywedsjeff says:

Scott from oz.. She’s been asking for mvilla for a long while though.. Hopes she gets her(our) wish

  35. southyorkshiregunner says:

    Things are looking brilliant.
That’s why I can’t believe the negativity outside the club.

  36. rico says:

    Thanks joyswed, he’s not only my wish, I think he’s everybody’s 🙂

Because that is some fans survive Syg, certain blogs still have fans calling for Wengers head, why? why now?

It;s crazy reall, ok we have sold one player, a 29 year old who could be crocked any day but we have more than replaced him…

we have finally bought in a ‘cesc’ type player, another international.

we are about to secure another fantastic player in Sahin and AW says he will try and sign a DM….

Jeez, what more can he do??

On top of that we will have a bench on which sits the likes of Rosicky, Gervinho, Walcott, Mertesacker, Santos, Arshavin etc

Plenty there to be negative about eh 😉

  37. Scott from Oz says:

I honestly do not understand what the narks get out of complaining non stop about a club they claim to support.
It’s what irks me about those “fans” on Le Grove, amongst others, and how they suggest they’re the true Arsenal fans simply defies all logic.
    Still….whatever floats their boat!!

  38. bondex says:

joyswed/rico..i don’t understand why some people won’t just see beyond their noses..this so far has been one of the best off season/transfer periods we’ve had in recent years..i bet they are emotionally disturbed people who love ARSENAL but just can’t express themselves the right way.

  39. TT says:

Le Grove has become negative for negativity’s sake. It had a purpose in the dark days when our team started to decline and the manager went on the doomed project youth. But once the direction of the club has been changed dramatically they simply cannot adjust.

  40. rico says:

Scott/bondex – sad world for them i say..

TT – I usually read the posts on LG, G&P write some good stuff but in general, the bloggers really are doom and gloom regardless of whtat we are doing. I started my blogging days there and enjoyed it, but the ‘c’ calling doesn’t float my boat…

  42. Micko says:

    Morning all,
So Song was turning up late for training, most of us could see he had a bad attitude and he took it onto the pitch with him.
As SYG said the other day he’ll probably be laying on assists for Wellington in 12 months time !
RvP 30 goals in 38 games, lets give him a bit of credit, i enjoyed his last season for us but I’m looking forward to this season even more.

  43. Scott from Oz says:

Anyway, enough on RVP,enough on Le Grove……two topics simply not worth talking about any more….

  44. rico says:

I know Syg, can’t believe I wrote it but that’s how I feel, nothing too serious, just something small 😉

  45. rico says:

    Oh dear Merlin 😉

Hi Micko, he had that credit from me when he was in the Arsenal colours, no more 😉

    Morning Ben – thanks

  46. southyorkshiregunner says:

Only kidding Rico. Football is a passionate topic. You get a pass.

    Hiya Micko, Scott and Ben.

  47. bondex says:

syg….@10:45..nothing terrible about that,i magine he’ll play the last 15minutes,score a goal tweak his knee and then the story begins …remember a certain Owen Hagreeves.

  48. rico says:

How good would it be to get Sahin and M’Vila in before the weekend, Pullis must be dreading we do…

    And llorente 🙂

  49. rico says:

    Syg 😆

I am loving the Llorente rumours too ….

Michael Owen in talks with Everton, oooooo errrr that won’t go down well with the dippers….

  50. Merlin96 says:

    Scott, no bet.

For all I know, he may be our designated freekick specialist or penalty taker like that daft COlumbian goalie…

But now that RvP is no more, who will be our designated penalty taker this season?

  51. frednerk says:

Syg..Don’t you feel that Liorente, looks the same player as Giroud(bit to prove yet )………..be amazed if wenger buys same type again.

  52. Ben Barrett says:

I would like to see M’Villa in as i think Arteta is not used his best playing so deep, remember last year he was magnificent going forward and linking up midfield to attack. I appreciate he probably is good enough to play in goal but i would prefer players to play in their best positions. 😉

  53. Merlin96 says:

    Llorente?

Then, Wenger has an option to play 4-4-2 with Llorente-Poldolski or Llorente-Giroud with Poldolski at left flank or right-flank.

If Wenegr buys Llorente, then I am pretty sure it is bye-bye Walcott to Liverpool or Chelski or any team that wants him.

Look at Arsenal.com, our striekrs are listed as:
    1 – Poldolski
    2 – Giroud
    3 – Gervinho
    4 – Walcott
    5 – Oxlade-C
    6 – Chamakh
    7 – Park CY
    8 – Bendtner

Wenger will need to hip out 3 or 4 striekrs before he can afford Llorente.

The other option is to play Poldolski and Oxlade-C as an attacking midfielder with either Llorent or Giroud as “Lone Striekr”. I unfderstand that both players have the ability to hold th ball and line as centre froward.

  54. rico says:

Hi emma – good and i don’t think he’s fibbing this summer

    Merlin – Podolski

Hi fred – I didn’t know that re owen

  55. George Max Jarboe,Jr says:

If your imformation is something to relay on then I Arsenal MUST strive all of these agreement to put us in a better competition this season.WE WANT TROPHIES NOW AND NOT LATER.

Now..just stare in space, tongue at roof of mouth and said oooooooooomph 😆

The idea is to track my prediciton and expectation on the number of goals scored this season.

I am predicting that this new team wil struggle to score 100 goals and may not play more than 58 games this season!

To win the Quadruple, we need to play a minimum of 64 games!
    That is:
    13 CL Cup ties
    07 FA Cup ties
    06 Tin Cup ties.

    I am a Dreamer.
I am aim at the duck and will happily settle for a mackerel.

Gee,taking that into account,he must just get better and better over the next few years to come!!

  59. Merlin96 says:

Rico, Wenger is not fibbing and understand that he is living on borrowed down and must delviered something within the next 2 seasons. Impatient Arsenal fans will not stand for another 2 trophyless seasons after paying for the highest ticket price in professional football.

Wenger knew that he must bring in experienced players to buy time for his youngsters to mature in 2 years time.

But he is bargaining like a Arab in a bazaar and it wouldn’t surprise moi if he sgns 2 or 3 players on AUgust 341, at 23:59:59.

Patient gooners………more patience if we draw our next 4 matches….

    Remember last season:
7 points out of 21 points from our first 7 league games?

If we get double-figure points from our first 7 games, it will be a vast improvement from 2011/12 season.

  60. TT says:

    Merlin lmao

It will be interesting to see how the goal scoring will spread out over the team after loosing our top striker.

  61. rico says:

It’s not down to the fans though Merlin, Stan and IG will no doubt stand by him unless we have a disastrous season and I honestly can’t see that happening.

For me personally, yes a trophy would be the icing on the cake, but more importantly its have a squad which actually looks like it can and will challenge…

Gee..not another @#$%^@ French eocnomist in Arsenal FC.

One is bad enough to calculate the bottom-line instead of concentrating on team-building.
The other will be calculating on “the rate fo returns” in “to pass or not to pass” to a team-mate or go in alone….

No wonder he missed that sitter. He was calculaitng the angle, the velocity, angle of his foot..and did not factor in the widn factor which of course blew his shot off target.

  63. frednerk says:

Not sure if you know this but:Arsenal have been sounding out fans on season ticket waiting lists to see if there still interested.

  64. Scott from Oz says:

Aaaahhhhhh, but Merlin,I’ve suggested on more than one occasion that you miss what’s happening on the field because you’re busy updating your spreadsheet 🙂

  65. southyorkshiregunner says:

    Hiya FredN.
Look at the goals Llorente scored last year. He looks a ferocious and fearless attacker. Bendtner with balls if you like.

Giroud has a look of class about him and looks extremely quick over ten yards. Podolski is a typical methodical German workman type powerhouse of player, both who fit the Arsenal mould. Good purchases, both of them.

Llorente doesn’t look like your typical Arsenal forward (he looks unorthodoxly fantastic in the air for one), but Sahin is a long passer of the ball, Cazorla looks the business in distribution, you know about Wilshire and Arteta ….. So ???

It’s a horses for courses scenario Fred. So players will play better with certain systems and against different opposition.

I wouldn’t grumble in us offloading the other three central strikers (Cham, Park & Bendtner) for this guy to come in. I wouldn’t grumble, but I find it unlikely, but to be honest – This pre season HAS surprised me totally far.

FOR AN ARSENAL SUPPORTER THINGS ARE BRILLIANT AT THE MOMENT

Only an idiot would suggest different

  66. rico says:

fred – I heard that a little while ago, a lot of fans haven’t renewed…

I mentioned him the other day Scott, he’s a right back … Swansea i think?

  67. southyorkshiregunner says:

    Angel Rangel – Another Spaniard?

    According to reports …

  68. Micko says:

Scott, it was a bad bad miss on Saturday, especially when you see it from behind, shame as it would have been a dream start for Giroud.
When the camera’s panned over to AW he was almost pulling his hair out where as Bouldy was applauding the move.

  69. Merlin96 says:

Rico, that is why I have confidence that we can win the till within 2 seasons as Wenger had woke up and realsied he needed experienced players.
Plus his Youth Project will not necessarily produced loyal players who will give Arsenal FC 8 years of service like The French Spine.

He knew he has the nucleus of his 2rd TEAM from last season with Steve Boulds given the responsibility to fix a leaky defence and an indisciplined MIDFIELD that leaked 49 league goals last season.

A title-winning TEAM is built from the back. And against Sunderland we showed a ne maturity with a disciplined display with MDIFIELD providing cover albeitly no more gungho charging forward from TV5 and rest of MIDFILED but a defensive dsiplay.

The first priority is to keep many clean-sheets and to leak less than 30 league goals. Goal scoring will come and it is a matter of gettign 1 or 3 points when we scored. It is back to “Boring Boring Arsenal” to grind out results this season.

The latest rumor (from Arsenal Player?) is that Arsene Wenger intends to buy two more players – a defender and a midfielder.

    Defender?
DOn’t tell moi that Bendtner-Mexes exhange has some legs to stand on?
Or is it another FB like Van Wiel or even Luke Shaw?
    Anyone heard of Rangel?

Guess it is FB we need and not another overpriced CB in teh class of Silvestre and Squillaci..

    MIDFIELDER?
    WHich one?

  70. Ben Barrett says:

Arsene Wenger has confirmed the transfer window is not over yet as he intends to bring in a defender and a midfielder.

“We are looking to bring one more midfielder in of course, and maybe one defender as well because we still feel we are short in some positions,

This would almost confirm Nuri Sahin’s capture and a very likely Philippe Mexes deal

  71. TT says:

Is the one midfielder he is talking about a signing or a loan? if it’s a signing it means we could still get Sahin and a DM.

  72. lophiuss says:

what are the chances of rvp completing a whole season without having a large portion of it out injured, at 29 its not going to be getting easier. another one for the one great season club flamini hleb, i think im more important than i actually am.,

  73. Micko says:

Fred, my 2 mates didn’t renew their season tickets this summer and their seats were empty on Saturday, could be they were on holiday but then you have to ask what kind of people take their holidays during the footie season !

  74. Lexy says:

    Morning all….
I am really impressed with everyone’s comment dis morning and want to reiterate d fact dat AW is trying everything possible to bring happiness and smiles to d lives and faces of d fans. Am so convinced dat AW wil land in M’Villa to Arsenal dis season and he has well promised to bring in anoda quality striker…..he has mentioned Lloriente from Alletico Bilbao. Sahin is a done deal, so we av lots of talented players to work with now! My fear is d selection.

  75. Merlin96 says:

People, after seeing off Hleb, Flamini, Kolo, Clichy, Adebayor, Fabregas, Nasri, Van Persie and Song…….it just remain moi on the conclusion of Hayek “The Road to Serfdom”:

……If we are to build a better world we must have the courage to make a new start – even if that means some reculer pour mieux souter.

It is not those who believe in inevitable tendencies who show this courage, not those who preach a “New Order” which is no more than a projection of teh tendencies od the last forty years, and who cna think of nothing better than to imitate “Hitler” (read Hitler as Abrmaamovich, ABu Dhabi, Ferguson, etc).

It is indeed those who cry the loudest for the New order who are most completely under the sway of the ideas which had created this war (read war as the obscenity of paying 200,000+pw to players and obscene transfer fees above the odds) and most of the evils from which we suffer.

    _____________________________________

Be patience. There will be plenty of ups and downs, plenty of setbacks, but hey, within 2 years, Wenger cna deliver a piece of silverware with his 3rd TEAM, plus starting this season, we are title-contender with a “work-in-progress” title-winning team, after getting rid of all those disloyal players and non-commital players like Song.

  76. Merlin96 says:

Wenger – We’re still looking for signings

    By Rob Kelly

Arsène Wenger says the Club are looking to sign a midfielder and a defender before the transfer window closes next week.

Arsenal announced on Saturday that terms have been agreed for Alex Song to join Barcelona, and the 24-year-old is expected to complete his move to to the Nou Camp soon.

Although Wenger is confident his side have the resources to cope with the Cameroon international’s departure, he still hopes to add to his squad.

“We are looking to bring one more midfielder in of course, and maybe one defender as well because we still feel we are short in some positions,” he told Arsenal Player.

Wenger admitted he was “frustrated” by his side’s failure to beat Sunderland on Saturday, and hopes to see an improvement when they travel to Stoke this weekend.

“We didn’t lose, but it is frustrating when you are home with everyone here and you do not create more chances than we did,” he said. “It is very difficult to understand.”

    http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/wenger-we-re-still-looking-for-signings

When Wenger let the cat out of the bag, it means fiat accompli.

I think Nur Sahin most likely..and Rangel or even Van Wiel, as we need a FB more than a CB.

    M’vila?
It will send the wrong signal to Diaby, Yennaris, Coquelin and Frimpong.
Plus with Embicilo, Aneke and Toral to come…..

I think the “Song” situation had changed his thinking and perhaps he may by more than one midfielder.
DOn’t trust Wenger public statement as it is just a negotiation ploy and secretly he maybe now negotiating with many agents, all sworn to secrecy or else the deal is off.

  77. TT says:

It will send the wrong signal to Diaby, Yennaris, Coquelin and Frimpong.
Plus with Embicilo, Aneke and Toral to come…..

only two of those can be considered true DM, Le Coq and Frimpong and of the two I can see Le Coq making it but Frimpong …We need a true DM that has maturity to play at a top level and Le Coq is not there yet.

  78. TT says:

And I would not take what Wenger says about possible number of signing with a pince of salt….I would take it with a full truck load 🙂

  79. Merlin96 says:

Cazorla said that Wenger played him as the 2nd striker with complete freedom to roam the pitch.

There goes Walcott’s Dream of playing a more central role.

Plus, it is the end of Arshavin as that central role is his best role.

    Ramsey?
Can’t see him achieving much at Arsenal and perhaps like HOyte and Simpson may leave Arsenal when he is 23 year old if he finds himself behind the epcking order of:
    1 – Cazorla
    2 – Rosicky
    3 – Wilshere
    4 – Eisfield
    5 – Gnarby
    6 – Toral
    7 – Olsson

And if Wenger continues his pursuit of Gotze new year…..

DOes it also mean the end of Henri Lansbury with the signing of Cazorla and anoher mdifielder in Sahin or even M’vila or Bligia?

  80. emma says:

This m’vila to spurs is just a ploy to drive the price up. If it happens Wenger will back off and probably go for Capoue

  81. rico says:

Frimps isn’t even fit and when he is a loan again for him surely, he needs to get off twitter and knuckle down or he’ll find himself at another club.

  82. Lexy says:

Wenger is trying everything possible to get us a silverware btw nau and nxt year….with all dis new signings and more to come, I really think he wants to win trophy dis season or next…..I expect us all to support him and d players as a proud gooner and not condemn anyone for now cos dis is just d start of d season……in Arsene we trust.

  83. Merlin96 says:

But TT, Wenger may not choose to pay with a DCM and revert to both box-to-box midfielders and both of ’em are like Vieira or Lamaprd or Steve Gerrard, tough enough to provide defenive steel and hard tackling skills..and an Engine to go box-to-box with a creative flair.

Our vulnerability is that we depend on Song as DCM, as a cover for our Back-4 which changes ever game due to injury or due to suspension last season.

With a settled Back-4 and a more disciplined MIDFIELD, do we really need a DCM staying well within our half?

DO notice that whenever Diaby is driving forward with Mertesacker and Vermaelen joining the attack, we have both FB standing in the centre ricle with Arteta there as well.

That is, a minimum of 2 Arsenal players, at least onf FB with pace, to guard against Route 101 Counter-attack.

I think the moment of truth will arrive when we are attack down the flanksk by Stoke and Liverpool in the next 2 games…especially a live-wire Suarez taking on our Back-4 with a surging Gerrard driving hard and arriving late in the box.

  84. rico says:

    😆 TT…

I wouldn’t mind if we end up with Capoue emma…. As long as we get one of them…

Merlin, not necessarily, he could have been experimenting with Santi…

  85. southyorkshiregunner says:

It makes perfect sense to loan Frimpong.
Mega bad luck with the injury at Wolves, which put him back 12 months.
Lansbury has served is apprenticeship, and needs to be considered as a part of the squad.

  86. Merlin96 says:

    Stoke?

Saw that punsihment dished out to Hazard by Wigan – serial fouling with hard tacklings to stop him form playing?

Guess they will target Cazorla for a good kicking.

Let’s hope our new boys in Cazorla, Poldolskia nd Giroud will keep their heads and ill not react to all those serial foulings like what gervinho did at St James park last season…

  87. TT says:

Merlin I get what you are talking about and without a doubt that will work in many cases. But there will be times that we will need a holding midfielder that has the disciplined and know how to play that role and someone like M’Vila would be ideal because he is actually a very good ball player and has excellent passing skills. He would therefor not be out of place in a fluid midfield and an excellent backup if we need to revert to a traditional MD, for example in games against good counter attacking teams .

  88. Merlin96 says:

    True Rico. If Sahin arrives…

But I tend to see us returning to 4-4-1-1 when OX, Rosicky and WIlshere are fit……

    THen..

    …OX……Sahin…..Wilshere………Rosicky

    ……………….Cazorla
    ……………………………Poldolski

WIth Walcott as supersub, Gervinho, GIroud, Arteta, Diaby, Yennaris, Coquelin on the bench…..

We will not miss Gervinho that much during February ANC.

  89. emma says:

    D ‏@AFCAMDEN

Just been informed that a deal has now been finalised & Nuri Sahin is now expected to report to the Arsenal training ground after 4pm

  90. Merlin96 says:

    Yes TT.

But will Wenger buys M’vila knowing that Lansbury and Coquelin will not be that patient to sit on the bench behind M’vila?

    Firmpong?
I don’t rate him and see him a limited player, just a more muscular Muamba.

If we get Sahin, with an option of a permanent move, then buying M’vila will limit Diaby and Arteta to bench warmer.

    Imagine Wenger playing 4-2-3-1:

    ……………………..Sahin………………….M’vila

    ……OX………………………..Cazorla……………….Poldolski

    …………………………………..Giroud

More or less with 3 striekrs and a Defensive Wall in Sahin-M’vila, both of e’m cna be considered deep-lying playmaker coming in deep against a pakced defend like Sunderland…..and counter-attackng at pace against any team that slipped up….

Meaning, if we have an effective defensive shield in front of Back-4, then Wenger can field 3 strikers with Cazorla or WIlshere lying behind them.

I am sure if I can think of it now, Wenger had cosndiered thses many months ago; and he is keeping all hsi cards closed to his chest…and maybe just go ahead and buy two “unknowns” midfielders that we never heard of 😆

  91. tomstoned says:

sahin….great business..a loan..never injured..proven premier league quality…wont need time to bed in…and heey so so much better than song who wasnt among our best players last year, neither did he show any sort of improvement over the last two years..and all statistic will show that our songinho was among the poorest midfielders in the premier
15m….great price…ha only had 3 years left on his contract..pool bough the god allen for the same price and he’s much better than song…but selling to barca we’ve always made our best to keep the prize down….
funny…we seem to have no probs whatsoever to keep the big guns like bendtner, chamakh,PARK,the squid, etc…cool
not sure but a midfield including Rosicky,Diaby,Wilshere,Frimpong,Eisfeld, makes me actually scared…how long will they be fit at the time…wilshere wont be back in full stride before january at the best…rosicky who knows??..and when will Diaby break down..usually after two games…

  92. Lee says:

Shows you how the media have it in for us, I still can’t believe the pardew incident hardly got a mention! But because we drew a blank after rip’s departure it’s the end of the world for us….WANKERS the lot of them.

  93. rico says:

Reading have signed Stuart Taylor 🙂

That was all down to the way Pardew handled it Lee, but, imagine if Arsene Wenger had done that…

    Headline grabber or what….

  94. Bob John says:

Interesting take on our so called ‘fans’. It took precisely 8 seconds for someone sitting behind me on Saturday to start slagging! Mind you, that doesn’t beat the record at Highbury during the Invincibles season when we kicked off and passed back to Sol Campbell and some moron behind shouted ,what you doing Arsenal?, get it forward’! They walk among us!

  95. Merlin96 says:

    tomstoned, never feared.

17th in September, a 8-2 mauling with half a team injured or suspended, and ended up 3rd in May with that bunch of dross.

Just trust Wenger to put something out of his hat…and as long as they survived this year..there is always January Transfer window.

Well, we still have Arteta…Yennaris..Coquelin….Ramsey to step in when the usual suspects start breaking down in Sep/Oct/Nov..Van Persie, Diaby, Walcott,

  96. rico says:

Funny Ramsey is mentioned, he’s going to struggle getting playing time this season…

    I believe you emma – roll on 4pm 😉

  97. Micko says:

Lee, just think back to Old Trafford a few of season’s ago when Wenger took it out on his water bottle and got sent to the stands, it was a media frenzy, front page news.

I am going to tweet him when the move is officially confirmed

  102. tomstoned says:

    well Micko, to be honest in my book Song was doing very well and he was imo the player who have improved the most over the years,who knows if he wouldnt have kept that up…??..some try to pin it to Song not being loyal..well we paid the man less than chamakh..its strange Song in my book should be among our top earners..like Arshavin ??;
we lost a diamond….and for 15m…with 3 years left on his contract..its a horrible business…he wont play much for barca this year but a friend of my who is a die hard barca fan are convinced they will mould him to take over puyols role…make sense..
sahin…its not that the player havent shown promise..he had one superb year with Dortmund…since then he has been injured and havent been up to that standard…makes me think of players like eduardo, ramsey…not being able to get back to their best..hope im wrong…but on loan ?????…means we have to if sahin makes an impact…start over next summer again..(we wont if theres a buyout clause pay the money real would want for him, thats for sure)its not good business in my book….
how long will sahin need to bed in ??..a week…a month…or like wenger likes to think..it takes a good six months to get used to the premier and bed in…

  103. bondex says:

me neither Lee….like someone earlier good footballers don’t make good analysts..did he ever player in the CL?

Football is more than dinks, chips, haircuts and assists. There’s a bigger picture.

It’s hard to put over without African or Afro-English bloggers ramming it down your throat that you’re a racist … just to end the conversation.

    Song WAS Arsenal’s weakest link.

  108. rico says:

😆 tomstoned and yes, Santi is a great signing…

we’ll never know re cesc, but he always insisted he wanted to go home and play for his boyhood club. i’m not sure he would have stayed even if we’d signed messi….

  109. tomstoned says:

    SyG…
oh dear..you should only look at last years statistics mate…then you will see just how poor Song is…..he was together with *** our best player no way around that fact..
but im happy for you…its just wenger, barca, and some few others who believes Song is an extraordinary talent..
    im sure you know better..
funny though i thought you kinda trusted wenger ?? darn you fooled me….

  110. allezkev says:

It’s funny, during Saturday’s game Vs Sunderland, it didn’t once cross my mind that Arsenal missed the technical genius that is Alex Song….
We missed Wilshere, maybe Oxlade-Chamberlain, possibly Rosicky, but Song, no not at all…

As this season progresses, i doubt that many will come on here after a game and state that “Song would have made the difference”….
    Matter of opinion of course.
    And that’s mine…

  111. Lee says:

But surely if AW thought he was that good, he would of given him a payrise and definitely not sold him to uefalona…?

  112. tomstoned says:

Rico well im not convinced by the signing of Sahin…but i always hope that im wrong and that Wenger knows better than me..still on loan ?? why ?? cant understand it…..it doesnt ooze of teambulding and looking to the future of that signing…
SyG never for a sec thought that your a racist mate..are you wrong about Song.??..oh my not only wrong mate, of all your post ive read(most quite good)this was a big big let down…and im back to square one doubting you have ever watched Song play 😉

  113. tomstoned says:

Allezkev…well if we havent had Song last year ..facts will tell you different mate..and i missed Song sat..like i always do when he didnt play..but we differ in opinion thats fair

  114. allezkev says:

Fair comment Tom, but i saw a lot of Song in the flesh last season, and he didn’t impress me, he was the only player available at the club, who could do the job he sometimes had the discipline to fulfill.
You like him, that’s fine, i don’t, i think he is slow, clumsy and lazy…
But that’s just my opinion mate….
    Feel free to disagree…

  115. tomstoned says:

Lee….i see your point..and of Wengers Arsenal are far better than barca ;)..no doubt..imo it was personal and wenger has been dissapointed so many times players who desert him…im thinking hes fed up and overreacts…there may also be some truth to the Dein referance..imo..

  116. rico says:

    Statistics cloud the issue Tombstone.
According to statistics Denilson was the most consistent passer on the globe.
    The REALITY is. There’s a difference between a pass and a Denilsonesque-pass.

I watched Song play and I draw my own conclusions.
Consistently inconsistent and ill-disciplined. And like Adebayor before him, he is in business for himself.

Tito Vilanova was a mediocre player and has never been in top tier management before. He has bought a DUD.

I don’t know how old you are, but in life – statistics can be twisted and turned to suit.

  118. allezkev says:

The 23-year-old has been told he can quit La Liga champions Real Madrid after failing to establish himself in Jose Mourinho’s midfield.

Sahin, who still harbors hopes of making a career with Madrid, has targeted a move to the Premier League in order to revitalize his stalling career.

Arsenal were the first to register interest in the player a fortnight ago – seeing him as ideal cover for the stricken Jack Wilshere, but Liverpool appeared to be in pole position after joining the race last week.

However, despite being urged to move to Anfield by Xabi Alonso, Sahin has turned down Liverpool’s advances in favour of Arsenal, following a chat with Arsene Wenger.

The Frenchman, who is fluent in German, called Sahin over the weekend and convinced him to move to north London, in a personal touch that has seen the Gunners edge ahead.

Sahin is now expected in England in the next 48 hours ahead of a medical with Arsenal, before signing on a season-long loan.

Arsenal have agreed to cover all of Sahin’s wages for the season, as well as hand over a loan fee, and will have the first option to buy the player next summer, if Madrid opt to sell, as expected.

The news comes as Alex Song prepares to seal his £15 million move to Barcelona.

Gunners boss Wenger opted to ship out the 24-year-old, who had allegedly become difficult to work with.

Song has been accused of a lack of respect among Arsenal insiders after refusing to commit his future to the club, and frequently turned up late to training.

Song’s move clears the way for Sahin to come into the midfield, but Arsenal are also eyeing up a move for a natural defensive midfielder, with Anderlecht’s Lucas Biglia among the options being considered.

Rico and Allezkev….valid points..and im not saying Song is perfect…imo Songs position last year was more or less forced…or gave itself one might say…no Wilshere..Song tried to do it all…we missed a player like Cazorla…
Song will be a hit at Barca..not this year but it makes sense that they will mould him into a puyol copy..
but why sell him for 15mill…same price as that swansea bird allen…and it had to be personal…wenger never reacts like that…remember Song was one of Wengers love childs…
strange…but i think that Dein situation also had a play in it…
to me Song will be dearly missed and he was my favourite player..ive had three others over the years Radford,Brady, and Bergkamp 🙂

  122. allezkev says:

Lee, tbh, Song is history, i don’t mourn his departure and i don’t think his departure weakens the squad.
I think Coquelin will develop into a far superior player in all aspects…
Sahin can fill the experience gapuntil Francis is ready….
If sahin stays great, if he returns to Madrid, that’s ok. By then Jack will be 100% fit…
    Where’s the problem?

  123. rico says:

tomstoned – you could well end up being right about song, he may become a great player for them – we’ll have to wait and see…

we differ in opinion mate…im 52 and has been a Gooner since my dad brought me to Arsenal-Liverpool in -71…since then ive travelled two or three times every year to watch Arsenal(from Norway)
there’s one thing about statistics SyG..they never lie…they are an absolute truth…but of course they can be twisted and turn..but still if it reads 11 assists….or 30 goals..they are for real dont you agree ??

  125. allezkev says:

Tom, it’s just a matter of preference, nobody can explain why we, as fans, take a liking to any particular player.
I liked Jon Sammels, I liked Willie Young, Nigel Winterburn and Charlie George are my all time favourites, at present i like Per Mertesaker…

Don’t ask me why, it’s in my DNA i suppose!

  126. tomstoned says:

problem is simple Allezkev leaves us in a state of transition that never stops….and that is worrying…im sure you agree that keeping players together…letting players have time to gel in..is very important…and in a perfect world we should as Wenger says never buy one or two players every season…then again we should never sell our best players either…

  134. southyorkshiregunner says:

Sorry Tom – you’re a foreign (overseas) Arsenal supporter. It’s why your comments come over slightly different. again, sorry.

Statistics may be true, but they NEVER tell you the whole picture.

    ————–

FA Cup final. Liverpool 2 Arsenal 1.
    HT: 0-0
    Owen 2 Ljungberg

That statistic will tell you that Arsenal got beat by one goal and that Owen scored two and Ljungberg scored one.
That is all that particular statistic tells you.

The REALITY was that Arsenal absolutely hammered Liverpool, and that the referee turned away good penalty shouts which should have had us walking away with the cup by half time.

  135. TT says:

It is not the goals and assists we should be analyzing regarding Song, not the things he did but what he did not do.
When Song was not in right position when we lost the ball and the other team brakes it falls to another player to fill in along with covering his own position. This causes enforced errors.
this made the stats for our defenders a lot worse than the players actually are. 49 goals in one season is way way to much and doe’s not reflect the defensive ability of the defenders.

If Song had had the ability to recover in time he would have been an asset and had he been able to be “smart” in his tackling outside the area instead of giving away so many fouls he would have been an excellent DM but he did none of this and therefore became a liability in many games.

This is not to mention doing plain stupid things like stamping on a player when he full well knows that there are dozens of cameras at the pitch side that will pick up any wrong doing.

All in all if we manage to get Sahin, a box to box midfielder and M’Vila or like player we will be so much better off with out Song than with.

  149. Scott from Oz says:

Tom,you can argue the point on keeping Song all you like, but I’m not sure how anyone can defend keeping ANY player that doesn’t want to stay.
Very few people think Song CANT play, but even fewer think he’s a good defender!
49 goals conceded last season outweighs our goals scored,so as a DM,Song had little in his stats to show he was doing a good job.I think the guys talented, and set up some goals with world class passes, but he’s lazy at worst, and overly casual at best….15 million is sper business.
Let’s just see how long he lasts at Barca.

  150. Scott from Oz says:

Just watching some highlights….how good does Michu for Swansea look??
2 million very well spent…VERY well spent.

  151. Romford Pele (formerly HC) says:

    Afternoon guys,

What an awesome opening weekend of EPL footie. Missed it so much!

I was at the game on Saturday. I thought we played well, much better footie than at any point last season. Obviously we need to be a bit more incisive but that’ll come. Sahin in, hopefully M’Vila to come.. Add a creative/versatile forward and I think we’re in with a title shout. Only if that happens though.

And as for Cazorla, pure jizz. My friend and I were literally creaming our pants throughout the game 😉

  152. Romford Pele (formerly HC) says:

Lee, he’s awesome my friend! It’s not often someone literally comes in and is your best player from the get-go! To be fair Gervinho was really good too. We just need to create more and hope Poldi/Giroud get on the end of them.

If Wenger isn’t going to look externally, he really needs to utilise Arshavin more and play Rosicky when he comes back. Every team that comes to the Emirates is going to follow this blueprint so it’s up to us to break them down. Sahin is a good signing though as he’ll be able to probe and play throughballs from deep.

  153. Scott from Oz says:

What Cazorla did just days after an international game and in high temperatures was simply awesome.
We wanted world class,we got world class.
    And,we got it bloody cheap!!

  154. Romford Pele (formerly HC) says:

Haha Lee…. Well at certain times, football when it’s played like that can exceed any emotion!

Yes very much so Scott, it was absolutely roasting in the stadium so credit to the guys as it can’t have been comfortable. I just want us to smash the rugby club on Sunday.

  155. Scott from Oz says:

Wellington has joined Ponferradina on loan.
    Never heard of them lol.
From the little I’ve seen,he looks a very good player.

  156. Romford Pele (formerly HC) says:

Wasn’t his last loan spell bad though? I heard his attitude stinks a bit and he’s very lazy. Like a striker version of Song 😉

  157. Scott from Oz says:

Pele,at least you cold have a few pints to cool down…poor old Santi must have been cooking out there.
Did you offer Him one at half time??

  158. Scott from Oz says:

I thought he settled down and finished off strongly.
    Can’t remember where I read that,but I’m pretty sure that’s the case.

  159. Romford Pele (formerly HC) says:

Haha Scott I had to top up on the drinks before and after the game! I refuse to pay those ridiculously expensive prices for food and drink at the stadium! But yes, it was rude of me not to offer him a drink – i’ll be sure to rectify that at the next home game 😉

  160. Scott from Oz says:

Lol Pele….next time you can make up for it.
Not sure if you guys know, but those pics of Sahin are definitely fake.
I just saw the originals….he’s got a Turkish shirt on.

The scandal of EPL match scheduling – some things never change

The Scandal of EPL Match scheduling – some things never change

    By Jerome

It is a little known fact that EPL clubs every summer submit scheduling requests to the PL. They are only requests and the powers that be finalise the schedule after consideration of the respective requests which naturally will have several clashes, and of course the TV networks will want their “super Sunday” set ups and so on. The typical requests include playing at home in weeks following international matches and Champions league fixtures, and who you play and where over the congested holiday periods etc.

It usually works quite well (for some), Chelsea request and usually get a very gentle start for the new season, Man Utd request and usually get home games after CL fixtures (in fact all 6 group games last season saw MU play at home – not that it did them any good as they fell out of the competition at the group stage).

Arsenal certainly don’t publish what they request to the PL but you can imagine what they requested last season. With several changes in the squad likely and 2 critical CL qualifiers in the first 2 weeks – a reasonable would have been be for 2 home games in the first 3 games and teams from lower in the table (as Chelsea always seem to get). Bear in mind that with the CL qualifiers the EPL needs 4 teams in the competition and the further those teams go the better prestige for the EPL and ability to keep its 4 positions in the competition, so it is certainly important that the English 4th placed team proceeds. So, with this background what did the powers that be do to the Arsenal schedule last season?

Week 1 – send Arsenal to the furthest ground in England (Newcastle) against a very physical team with ambitions on the European qualifying positions.

Week 2 – Home to CL ambitious Liverpool

Week 3 – Away to PL ambitious Man Utd

Sandwich these with the key games against Udinese of Italy and you couldn’t dream of a worse schedule to put a team through (thank you EPL!). Five of the toughest games in 14 days and key competitors Liverpool and MU benefit from not having midweek games in the interim.

The rest was history – Arsenal won home and away in the key CL qualifiers, but drew away at Newcastle and lost to Liverpool and MU. It was also significant that for the Liverpool/MU games Arsenal suffered from injuries and suspensions to Gervinho and Song (from the Newcastle game).

If anyone doubts the impact Ferguson and MU have on this league consider the run up to the Arsenal first game of last season with Newcastle. Everyone’s favourite Joey Barton was in the midst of his Twitter crisis, having criticised Newcastle management he was effectively persona non grata – he was training on his own and not playing in Newcastle pre season fixtures, effectively waiting to be sold.

Enter Ferguson. Newcastle manager Allan Pardew is interviewed live on Sky Sports mid-week prior to the Arsenal game and mentions specifically that he had been in conversation with “Sir Alex” earlier in the week and that clubs need to have a Twitter policy and that Barton while overstepping the mark, was not aware of what the limits to his Tweeting should be! From that moment it was obvious that Ferguson had effectively intervened to get Barton onto the pitch despite that fact that he was about to be sold and was not match fit.

Again the rest is history – Barton assaults Gervinho, Gervinho retaliates with a slap but the Ref mysteriously misses the first infraction and Gervinho gets the 3 match suspension (and Arsenal do not get a potential match winning penalty for Barton assaulting Gervinho in the penalty area). Song is also suspended 3 matches for “stepping” on a Newcastle player.

By the time Arsenal met MU at Old Trafford they had quite impressively beaten Udinese home and away but it took a lot out of them (including the 35 degree heat in Udinese midweek). The team was clearly mentally and physically exhausted and in no little turmoil re the comings and goings of Nasri/Fabregas etc. What better time to play Arsenal, and even Howard Webb did not need to work his magic for MU to get its resounding 8-2 victory. But Ferguson, Pardew, Barton and the EPL match scheduler all had a part to play in Arsenal’s poor start to the season. Of course the media ignored the excellent results in the CL and trumpeted the poor start to the PL season.

Twelve months on has anything changed?
•Arsenal vs Sunderland 2.5 days after the international break.
•Everton vs MU 5 days after the international break.

Sadly until there is a level playing field the EPL will remain a joke.

  162. Scott from Oz says:

AK,each time I watch a movie involving Yank presidents ordering hits, illegal operations etc, etc, etc,I always think there’s too many movies on these topics for them all to be based on fiction.
    Basically,where there’s smoke,there’s fire.
I’ve read plenty of conspiracy theories involving favourable treatment to some clubs…mainly Utd…and less favourable treatment to others….mainly Arsenal.
Way too many stories for all of them NOT to be true.

Arsenal agreed a deal over the weekend for the Cameroon international midfielder – who will be presented to the media once he has signed.

The deal will see Song end a seven-year association with the Gunners, having joined from Bastia for just £1million.

Song arrived at Barca’s medical centre on Monday morning and he passed the tests with flying colours.

Club doctor Ricard Pruna confirmed: “All tests have come out successful and he is available for the coach.”

Statistics are like miniskirts. What they reveal is tantalizing, but what they hide is crucial.

    Never get bamboozled by statistics.

    AN EXAMPLE of a statistic
I know a woman who lives not far from me that
    1. She is blonde
    2. She is quite attractive
    3. She is 5ft4
    4. She owns her own business
    5. She drives a top of the range Mercedes
    6. She holidays in Mexico and owns a villa near Malaga.

sounds a good prospect, but statistics don’t tell you the whole truth

  175. rico says:

    Guys – what’s the point – he’s gone…

Like I said earlier, Song is like Theo, he divides fans. And we will always have players that will continue to do that, Ramsey is another…

We might as well forget him and look forward to Sahin and hopefully M’Vila….

Then we can all moan about them 😉 😉

  176. goonster says:

how big are her breasts SYG? a blonde, with a benz and owns a house close to malga? that ticks all my boxes bro. morning guys, have sold theo yet?

  177. KM says:

So its 4pm and no announcement/pictures of Sahin at Arsenal…

Re. Song…..imo a v.under-rated player in a flawed team. However his off the pitch attitude stank apparently….so good riddance.

  178. NashuaGunners says:

Syg I hope you’re right there and not prove you wrong. It’s only now that all this rumors are coming out that he’s lazy and showing up late for practice. On saturday I missed that Killer Pass and said to myself… where is Song when we need him?

Football sometimes is like politics they make ‘strange bed’ and time and time again we have sees it. Andy to Liverpool, Torres to Chelsea, Ben to Chelsea, Pienaar to Tots, they are not the same players they used to be when in their previous teams.

I would say to him never forget where you came from and respect the man that mould you that cause Barca to come calling. The Weakest Link, hope you right Syg, because I love nothing but the best for Arsenal.

  179. southyorkshiregunner says:

Kev – she’d need to provide you with a damn sight more than 14 assists and a goal over a 12-month period for you to want to tap her up…

As stated quite eloquently by Vernat, what statistics reveal is tantalizing, but what they hide is crucial.

  180. southyorkshiregunner says:

Sorry Stanley, didn’t see you there…..

See, Nasher … even “Stanley the Goonster” wants more information on the 4:31pm post and I gave him 6 vital statistics …
He’s not satisfied with the 14 assists and 1 goal.

  181. Micko says:

Vernat, I was a wedding years ago and the best man said he was gonna liken his speech to a mini skirt, long enough to cover everything but short enough to keep everyone interested, wonder if he nicked that off Navjot Singh as well.

  193. NashuaGunners says:

NG, no, I am being honest. The story goes that one or two of the first team were really fed up with Song. He who is now in Manchester is reported to have made his feelings clear to AW.

so they re not real???? awwww. anyway how of you wanna send that twat faced bastard shearer a tweet after we bag shahin. i heard he was running his mouth during the week. nice to get one over that prick. come on!!!!!!!! are you watching robin?

  196. southyorkshiregunner says:

Nasher. That’s his agent trying to muddy what has been said by the club…. No different to Adebayor… An attitude and body language that stinks of shit … They get their move and blame everyone else ..

  197. Joaquim Moreira says:

Bendtner for 8 millions more Mexes to Milan ? not bad…
    Nir Binton (isreal) – Totts?
    Buttner (left back) – MU
yes, Sw has bougth (or on loan?) a player from barcelona

  198. southyorkshiregunner says:

    My brother just text Joaquim.
All my family are Sheffield Wednesday mad.
And we feel badly done to with no trophies since 2005 !!

  199. Ben Barrett says:

SYG, i lived in Sheffield on lowedges estate 2 years, lovely people had to walk/drive/bus past sheffield united ground every day…thus hated working on saturdays. 😀 My ex and her family were all Wednesday and i still look for their results now even tho i am ‘a shandy drinkin sudern softie lol.

  200. Ben Barrett says:

Sahin has had his photoshoot at Colney this afternoon. Expect confirmation on website with story tomorrow #sahin #arsenal

  201. southyorkshiregunner says:

Jesus, Ben – It’s a small world mate.
    Low Edges. i know it.
My mate had a gym in Heeley Bridge, just around the corner from Brammall Lane… and my accountant is on London Road..
    Lovely city.
My favourite curry house is in the Wicker.

  202. Ben Barrett says:

SYG never been one to go to a Gym 😉 But curry houses yes m8, been there a few times. And I was so surprised by how well the people of Sheffield were nice to me from the estates to pubs etc…I have an awful cockney accent! 😀

  203. agirlagunner says:

Boo!! rico, yes, Song has gone and Barcelona has praised his low body fat percentage. 😀 😀 No mention of where he would fit in their system, just a comment on his physique. Lol.

    Hello, all! 🙂

  204. allezkev says:

SYG, i recall a family outing to Thorpe Park in 1993.

And we saw this young couple walking around together.

He had a Sheff Weds shirt on and she had an Arsenal shirt…

We did mention to them in passing that it must have an interesting few weeks for the pair of them.

    She smiled, he didn’t….

  205. Ben Barrett says:

Don’t know if we discussed this properly today….Mexes for Bendtner and a bit of cash. I for one would snap their bleedin arms off!

  206. allezkev says:

BobB, not sure what to think of Mexes, but he did have a decent game against us in the Champions Lge, imo.
Not sure about wages? Getting rid of NB52 is a bonus…
J>Sanderson did mention that he hadn’t heard anything.
But that was a few hours ago…

  207. allezkev says:

    Jamie Sanderson‏@YoungGunsBlog

Song another Darren Dein transfer. Not an agent, just representative. He helped Cesc, RvP, Clichy and Nasri out of Arsenal.

  208. southyorkshiregunner says:

Ben – Me and my brother drove down to the FA Cup Final replay in 1993.
    He wasn’t a happy bunny – I’ll tell you.
I said, “I wouldn’t let it bother you, kidda, Wednesday finished higher than us.in the league..”

Wenger in this years transfer market …..

He’s the one in pink ….Roll on Sahin ….

  209. allezkev says:

    Jamie Sanderson‏@YoungGunsBlog

Dein has ultimate job in football. Signs with a player. Helps unsettle club. Player gets sold. He gets large fee. Onto next player.

  210. goonster says:

of all men am the most miserable!!! why on earth did i get a spud as a neighbor? he keeps goading me guys………saying mvilla is their player already. can anybody confirm this? gosh i wish i could smash that grin off his pox ridden face. grrrrrrrrrrrrr.

  211. allezkev says:

    Jamie Sanderson‏@YoungGunsBlog

Dein doesn’t have other clients at Arsenal currently, but has links with agents of Vermaelen and Diaby. Be warned, Arsenal.

  212. Ben Barrett says:

Syg i was 16 and had to work in my part time job at Sainsburys’s that thursday night! Never seen a replay on a Thursday since…..poor old stevie moro lol!

  213. southyorkshiregunner says:

I had been building a tunnel in North Nottinghamshire from 6:00am and my foreman let me knock off at two … Traffic on the M1 that night was horrendous…

    Anyway… Duty calls …
…Get a shave and up to the Khyber….. Kev will tell you that it’s a curry house, Ben…

  214. Ben Barrett says:

The Ox on cover of Fifa13, well i don’t play video games but was’nt there a rumour years ago that if you were on cover of fifa games it ruined your career. I hope i wrong will have to go look in some archives for past fifa games covers and see! 🙁

  215. goonster says:

am i invinsible to you guys? i said somebody bloody confirm the mvilla to spuds rumor for me. arrrghhhhh. this spud fan is driving me batty!

  216. Ben Barrett says:

goonster no1 has any idea at the moment apparently 3 teams involved, spuds, us and inter. Player says he wants CL footy, so…..

  217. Lee says:

Evening Adam. No Stanley its just rumours about the yids and M’Vila probably Rennes trying to get a bidding war going.

  218. allezkev says:

There was a story yesterday Stan, that AVB had pulled out of the chase for M’Vila….
That he wants Raul Mirelles from Chelsea…

  219. Ben Barrett says:

    Verminated ‏@Vermaelen05
A Spurs fan is telling me that Sahin chose Arsenal because he thought he wouldn’t get into the Spurs starting 11. Dear oh dear.

    LMFAO!

  220. goonster says:

blimey ben, that’s just the angle that twerp next door is playing too. sahin cant make it into shite hart lane??? what in the world are these spuds smoking? cause i need me some!

  221. allezkev says:

    Jamie Sanderson‏@YoungGunsBlog

Arsenal U21 underway against Bolton U21 at Emirates. Yennaris, Eisfeld and Gnabry start. Olsson and Gnabry in. Martínez in goal.

    Akpom also starting….

  222. allezkev says:

What’s your feeling on Walcott, Adam? (quick whilst Rico is cooking)
I want him to stay, but if his advisors are stupid, then i think he might leave…
If he does, then i think it’ll be the biggest mistake he ever makes, career wise!

  223. Ben Barrett says:

wb rico hope you enjoyed your dinner.
Yes seems he will be unveiled tomorrow.
Gonna watch manure match in a bit, I heard they signed a new striker?

  224. Ben Barrett says:

On Theo, I think he will stay on the premises he will be played up front, I hope we give him that chance!

  225. Adam says:

Kev. I think he would be daft to leave on his part. But I do find him a frustrating player. When he has a good game he can shred defences but his decision making is poor I think and his positional sense is shocking, as we saw on Saturday. Personally I think we could do better but feel a strange attachment to him and like others, wonder if we sold him, he might find his game at another club. I think it has all come a bit easy for him really.

  226. Will says:

Evening Rico, Housers. How are we today/

Another fantastic post. have to say, I am now not confident we will be bringing anyone new in.

  227. rico says:

    Adam –

That sums up how I feel entirely – and I have that added attachment to Theo because he lived only a few miles from me, and he went to my old school…

My own view is he is a bit of Wrighty, we just signed him up early….

  228. Lee says:

Having TH14 around when we did recently I thought may rub off on Theo….and like you peeps I’d like to see him full fill his potential with us.

  229. Adam says:

When I saw that he bought his girlfriend a £140k Ferrari a few years back when he wa just over 20, I did wonder where his head was at.

  230. goonster says:

hey adam……..any news on sahin yet? someone said he ll be at london colney at 4pm today………this is 7.46 UK time right? any sighting?

  231. Adam says:

Yes Goonie. I just saw him walking past the door with an Arsenal shirt on saying “where is Lothario Goonster Stan?”.

  232. allezkev says:

    That’s a very good assessment Adam….
Pretty much sums up the ‘Walcott question’…

I think most Arsenal fans want him to be a success, but he does have a habit of failing to rise to the occassion…

An enigma, very frustrating, but on his day, a match winner, he just has to learn consistancy…

  233. rico says:

Evening Will, glad you liked the post. i did try and leave out the irony and make it quite light hearted with all the gossip…

I’m hoping you might feel like writing a few posts for the house some time soon??

  234. Adam says:

JET. Lee I remember wondering about that too. Too much too soon is rarely a happy mix. Humility seems a rare commodity these days.

  235. rico says:

KM, the ‘c’ word sends comments straight into spam… just made a slight adjustment to your comment 😉

  236. Adam says:

Kev has you earmarked as Stan of Old Compton Street, Goonster. With your slim hips, blond hair and Dirk Kuyt looks you would be very popular with the girls.

  237. rico says:

No Will, I do not, this next 11 days will see quite a few goings imho, and my hunch is 4 players in, including Sahin…

    Sahin
    M’Vila or a.n. other DM
    Striker (cheap)
Defender who can play across the entire back line (not in one game of course)

  238. rico says:

    Song completes transfer to Barcelona

ex Song to Barcelona has been completed for an undisclosed fee.

Song joined Arsenal in 2005 from French side SC Bastia, initially on loan, and his move was made permanent a year later. He went on to make a total of 204 appearances for the Gunners.

The 24-year-old, who played predominantly as a defensive midfielder for Arsenal, was also an able deputy in defence when required. He demonstrated his offensive qualities last season too, providing 14 assists in all competitions and scoring once.

A Cameroon international, Song has represented his country in the 2008 and 2010 Africa Cup of Nations and in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. He was also part of the Cameroon squad to play in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Everyone at Arsenal would like to thank Alex for his contribution to the Club and wish him the best of luck for the future.

    I don’t 😉

  239. goonster says:

hahahahahahaa adam you plonker, i look nothing like dirk kuyt. i look more like brad pitt! ask AGAG she’s had fantasies about me!

  240. allezkev says:

Yeah Lee, don’t pick on the Beast of Old Compton St…
Stan, the Admiral Duncan is the pub for you…
You’ll be a nailing god in there mate…

  241. goonster says:

a nailing god!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hahahahahahahahaha. what’s that? kev you old windbag. send me the address though. i might visit the UK soon. look out compton street.

  242. allezkev says:

    That’s a bit harsh Stan…

I was looking out for your nailing welfare…

You will be the Adonis of Old Compton Street…

    The night of your life…

  243. allezkev says:

    Jamie Sanderson‏@YoungGunsBlog

Arsenal U21’s losing 1-0 to Bolton U21’s at half-time. Martínez conceded pen and was sent off. Blackman scored. AFC struggling.

  244. allezkev says:

    Jamie Sanderson‏@YoungGunsBlog

Good to hear from @MattLittlechild that Santi Cazorla at Emirates tonight watching U21’s. Has bought into club values. Top man.

  245. goonster says:

carzola visited the emirates tonight? wow, what a legend he’s turning out to be. are you watching robin?

  246. agirlagunner says:

Everton have had the better scoring opportunities. 😀 😀 Fellaini hit the post. De Gea is a good enough shotstopper but he’s panicky.

I know it’s not very ladylike but there’s something about Robin’s face now that is very very very punch-able. 😀

  247. allezkev says:

    Jamie Sanderson‏@YoungGunsBlog

Arsenal’s U21’s beat Bolton U21’s 3-1. Super comeback. A goal and man down at half-time. Eisfeld and Henderson brace seal win

  248. agirlagunner says:

    Bitten by what, rico? 🙁

goonie, goalless at HT; Everton are playing better than the Mancs. vP is on the bench.

  249. agirlagunner says:

I cannot now tell the difference between vP’s face and Xavi, AK. 😀 And you know how loathsome I find Xavi.

goonie, I bet Fergie is just dying to introduce him up front with Shrek.

  250. goonster says:

hey gunnerdna, that’s my line! Christ help me. everybody’d just trying to steal from me! first kev was hitting on AGAG now gunnerdna’s stealing my line! who made it steal from stanley day!

  251. allezkev says:

  254. allezkev says:

Norfolk Virginia Stan, blimey i’ve heard of that, think there was a battle there in the Civil War….?

  255. Ben Barrett says:

my cruise ship went to Norfolk, Virginia, loved it stayed 10 days. Hooters was great and i met a cpl of very fine ladies!!!!

  256. gunnerdna says:

@goonster i worked with a gunner who use to stay close to the emirates, we talk about transfer fro 9am to 2pm today, nothing from afc.com.

  257. Joaquim Moreira says:

Sahin representatives have been in Madrid looking to arrange the 23-year-old’s departure after it became clear he was no longer in Jose Mourinho’s first-team plans.
Liverpool have also expressed an interest in the Turkey international, but Arsenal are reported to be his preferred destination, although that will be on a season-long loan rather than a permanent move.
Manager Arsene Wenger had made it clear he would still be open to more new arrivals, having already brought in Olivier Giroud, Lukas Podolski and Spain international Santi Cazorla, who impressed in midfield on his debut against Sunderland at the weekend.
“We are looking to bring one more midfielder in of course, and maybe one defender as well because we still feel we are short in some positions,” Wenger told Arsenal Player.
Long-time target Yann M’Vila is still on the radar. However, Rennes have named Tottenham as one of the firm interested parties, with Zenit St Petersburg and another anonymous club also at the table.
The arrival of Cameroon defensive midfielder Jean Makoun on loan from Aston Villa could further hasten M’Vila’s departure, although Rennes general manager Pierre Drerossi has not yet ruled out the player staying for another season if their £17 million price tag is not met.
While Wenger could have reinforcements in place for Sunday’s trip to Stoke, it is clear the manager expects a much-improved attacking display after drawing 0-0 against the Black Cats despite dominating for long spells.
He said: “We didn’t lose, but it is frustrating when you are home with everyone here and you do not create more chances than we did.
“It is very difficult to understand.”

  258. goonster says:

thanks ben…….gosh i can feel the tension in goodison park. hold the line guys. not long to go now. come on.

  259. goonster says:

yeah dna i need a fellow southerner here……..these europeans are allus picking on me especially kev.

  260. gunnerdna says:

@ rico AFC is here to stay. The only problem is the lack of trophy. But i’m a proud gonner. AFC is a high class club. The ball players of england

  261. agirlagunner says:

Hahhahhahahhhahaa! Not even you mega money signing can sve you now, Fergusrednose!!

RIP got so little of the ball. In no time at all, he would be throwing a hissy and giving his teammates THAT look!

    Lol!!

  262. rico says:

Side show Bob wins the night for Everton…..

On that note, I’m off to catch up on the sleep I missed out on last night….

Night all and catch up tomorrow….

    Sleep well….

  263. southyorkshiregunner says:

Hurrah. Hurrah. Hurrah I say for Christmas day. The best day of the year. £60M deal for the World’s 3rd greatest player and they can’t beat Everton.
The upside is that they have just signed one of England’s most average forwards in the last 30 years on a 4year contract….
Ha ha ha ha ha Ha ha ha ha ha Ha ha ha ha ha Ha ha ha ha ha Ha ha ha ha ha Ha ha ha ha ha Ha ha ha ha ha Ha ha ha ha ha Ha ha ha ha ha Ha ha ha ha ha Ha ha ha ha ha Ha ha ha ha ha Ha ha ha ha ha Ha ha ha ha ha Ha ha ha ha ha Ha ha ha ha ha Ha ha ha ha ha Ha ha ha ha ha Ha ha ha ha ha Ha ha ha ha ha Ha ha ha ha ha Ha ha ha ha ha Ha ha ha ha ha Ha ha ha ha ha Ha ha ha ha ha Ha ha ha ha ha Ha ha ha ha ha Ha ha ha ha ha Ha ha ha ha ha

    Love it….

  264. agirlagunner says:

I looooved how Vidic had to be pulling on the shirt of Coleman to stop play. Those legs are old, he has to be a cheat so as not to be shown up!!!

Hahahahhah. Man United ARE in crisis. That midfield is poooooooor.

  265. Scott from Oz says:

    Utd down…..fanfukkkentastic.
    Love it.
Not just saying it today of all days, but Everton have always a been a side to respect.
    Now,they’re a side LOVE,!!

  266. southyorkshiregunner says:

Welbeck? A total useless, overrated turd of a player. An Omar Porn Star look a Like according to Goonster … lol

Alan Hansen….. Love to get his thoughts….

    Shearer… As useless…

Like I said. I’ve never felt as good about a pre-season since SOL.

ARSENAL WILL WIN THE PREMIER LEAGUE

  267. Scott from Oz says:

    How did Kagawa go?
Is he as overrated as I suggested?
I reckon the match day program Fergie had must have had a typo, because it’s the only logical explanation for him picking this guy over Honda!!

  268. southyorkshiregunner says:

Korean’s are great. Did a restaurant once in Manhattan.
Average food, average service and they still wanted a 15% tip

  269. goonster says:

hahahahaaahahahaha watch fergusnose scowl at jounrnos now. i cant wait to see robin’s face after the defeat.

  270. vernat1066 says:

Nobody travels on the road to success without a puncture or two

So well done Everton, and lets wait and see who else comes in for us.

  271. gunnerdna says:

    Rennes GM on M’villa

For the moment, there are three offers. There is no agreement. We enter negotiations this week and hope to find a solution.

I think that it will be done by the end of this week or the beginning of next.

It’s a complicated project with clubs who are not even internally agreed [Tottenham], and clubs that Yann does not want to go to [Zenit].

There is even a percentage chance that Yann could stay at Rennes this year.

Arsenal? Maybe, you’ll have to call Arsene [Wenger]. But when Song leaves, we must say that Arsenal will reinforce that post. Same thing for a club that sells to Arsenal.

We maintain our price tag of around €20m [£15.7m].

  272. goonster says:

hey bondex, how are ya fella? SYG, when did i ever call welback omar porn look a like???????? men, i must have been blogging in my sleep.

  273. agirlagunner says:

I thought Kagawa was better than Shrek, if I’m honest.

Can’t wait for RIP to be complaining about the service he gets.

JM, surely you can be happier than that 😛

    Goonie, you behave!!

  274. southyorkshiregunner says:

    Saturday 15th August 2009
    Opening day

    Everton 1-6 Arsenal

How did the press read that? A fluke?

Man Utd’s biggest PR “can’t lose situation” was done in1958.
They have been living off it ever since

    The press love them.

I bet it’s not doom and gloom tomorrow in the Sun; just a bad day at the office.

  275. Scott from Oz says:

Fergie tells the world…..our strike force is comparable to our great attacking unit of ’99.
Ferge tells his mates….the rest of our team is fucking shit, equal to our relegated team of ’72!!!!!

  276. Scott from Oz says:

Fair enough Agag, but I am adamant Honda is the better player.
Why is it I feel ALMOST as good as the morning after we whooped Spuds 5-2???

  277. agirlagunner says:

bondex, no need to pity RvP. He’s rolling in money, which is what the boy inside him was screaming for.

Scott, Young didn’t have enough time to execute The Twister. 😆

  278. Scott from Oz says:

A bad day at the office is your wife ringing you at work and telling you she knows your girlfriend is pregnant, then getting sacked for impregnating your boss’ wife, followed by your gay lover telling you to get a check up,as he has an STD.
No,what happened to Utd and Liverpool is much, much worse!!!!

  279. agirlagunner says:

Scott, Honda is an excellent player; I have seen more of him than Kagawa who I never even knew existed until United bought him.

Kev, I love the photo. You may be holding my handbag every game United plays now. Haha.

  280. Scott from Oz says:

Agag,if Honda had signed with Utd,I’d be saying they’re crazy because Kagawa is a better player lol!!
I do reckon Honda is a ripper though.

  281. Scott from Oz says:

Robins tweet ” of course I banked it…Utd aren’t travelling too well…didn’t want it bounce”.

  282. agirlagunner says:

Goodnight, AK, shopping buddy. 🙂 🙂

Scott, which “bastard”?? There were eleven red-shirted ones in the match I saw?? 😆

  283. Scott from Oz says:

Boucha “you crazy Dutch bastard…so we really ARE stuck here?
Oh well,at least there’s plenty to keep a girl occupied in Manchester. Giggsy says hi. See you at home for dinner.”

  284. goonster says:

man am off for a some cool beers. later guys, hey DNA nice knowing ya pal. hope i run into you soon. night bondex, AGAG dream of me, kev stop swindling innocent folks, will get a haircut, scott when are you gonna get sean into arsenal academy? that’s a wrap. i ll be on later. see ya.

  285. Scott from Oz says:

    Agreed Agag…..bloody diving little prick,Young.
I truly, utterly detest divers. 12 month ban is what I call for.
Seriously, even if one of our oys does it,it makes me cringe.
Yes,yes, yes,I’m an idealist,a dreamer, but I’d rather lose that win on a penalty awarded for a dive,I really would.

  286. Scott from Oz says:

Arsene has already been on the phone,Stan.
I asked Sean what the “little boy inside tells him”.
He replied…..I’m not sure I agree with Arsenals vision 🙂
Actually,he said,do they promise I can still eat lollies??

  287. Merlin96 says:

Hi, don’t larf too early as ManU is tradiitonally a slow satrter and get up to speed in November/December..where statistically, RvP started his long journey in a Medical XCentre.

Let’s cocnentrate on our game and pick up 19 points out of 21 points froom our first 7 games..

    Goodnight all.

  288. Lee says:

Morning all.. the Sahin deal has apparently hit a snag!! We can get M’Vila for the same price as song went for, bite their arm off AW!!!

  289. Scott from Oz says:

Fellini is a good player,no doubt.
Plenty don’t think he’d make an Arsenal player…I’ve always thought differently.
    Evening all.

  290. Adam says:

Morning all. With the departure of Song Darren Dein’s malign influence over Arsenal players has ended. Let’s just hope that no more employ him as their agent.

  291. rico says:

Morning Adam, I hope so too. You would never believe he was brought up in an Arsenal supporting family would you…?

  292. Adam says:

Revenge, Rico, is a powerful incitement. Throw some money into the mix and the results are plain for all to see. Let’s hope that he has had his pound of flesh now and that he turns his attentions elsewhere and tries to destroy another club from within. I doubt that his antics will have gone unnoticed.

  293. Lee says:

Scott, Nagawa was really good last night, always wanted the ball, kept the momentum going. I DD being vindictive because his old man was binned or because he’s lining his sky or both?

  294. rico says:

Makes you wonder if AW didn’t see it the same Adam, and he’s cleared them out for that reason….

Prob a bit of both Lee, good riddance I say..

  295. Scott from Oz says:

Fair enough Lee…Agag said similar things last night.
Dein out…..I’m surprised people want his dad back at the club.

  296. allezkev says:

I was a big supporter of David Dein, and believe that he and Arsene Wenger are still friends, despite his departure from the club…

  297. allezkev says:

Unfortunately the actions of his son Darren Dein have left feeling a lot less supportive of David Dein and if Dein snr has the clubs interests at heart, or just his own???

  298. allezkev says:

I suppose we’ll never really know for sure, the true intentions of Wenger, and if many of those players moved on, were with his blessing or not???
After all, the value of a player, has to be greater, if a club states that it doesn’t want to sell…
For example, it’s a fact that Denilson, Bendtner etc are surplus to requirements, and have therefore been very difficult to move on….
