Mesut Ozil slams Arsenal greats. Arsene Wenger needs help from an unlikely source…

Morning all.

Wayne Rooney really is a dick isn’t he? Perhaps that’s not the best description of him having been caught out with another women and whilst his wife is expecting their fourth child. But worse is driving whilst having had a few beverages. The bloke has more money than I could dream of having so why not get a bleedin cab? A spell behind bars might teach him a lesson but I doubt very much he’ll get that..

Anyway, Arsenal and not a lots going on really. Most of the players are away on international duty and I expect Arsene Wenger is spending his time watching reruns of Bournemouths opening three fixtures to see just what they’re about. Their strengths, weaknesses, key players, whilst coming up with a plan of action for the day. A plan to select and get the best from the players he believes will get the maximum points. What? He’s not doing that, he’s away covering the France fixtures?? Surely not!!

Mesut Ozil had a cracking game for Germany the other night according to reports. He ran the show and I’m sure I read he was spotted tracking back and getting involved in some defensive duties. Yes, that’s meant to sound sarcastic.

Mesut has taken to Instagram to fight back against his critics, especially those whom were once playing and winning things with Arsenal. He’s basically suggested they shut up and instead of berating him and others, they should support the team. He included a sly dig at some of those who didn’t win anything with the club, yet he has a handful of winning medals from the FA Cup and Community Shield. Now now, stop giggling over your cornflakes, winning the latter is now a worthy trophy it seems.

Anyway, after his performance for Germany its temping to suggest that if can play like that for his country, he can do the same for his club.

But it’s not as simple as that is it?

Playing for his country, and I’d imagine it’s the same for most footballers, it must be like going on a vacation. I don’t mean in the true sense of the word but it’s a chance to get away from their daily surroundings and do something different. For me that means leaving the chores like ironing and housework behind, for a footballer it’s about different training methods and tactics, different faces and a very different manager. A manager who knows how to get the best from his players, one who plays them where they are best and sets his team up to ensure he gets the best from his best. Löw does exactly that with Mesut, just as he does with the rest of his players. Can anyone say that Wenger does?

For our boys, going on international duty must be like a breath of fresh air. It probably is for any player who at their club is struggling either individually or as part of a team.

Perhaps it is harsh to single out individuals  for their performances because too many appear to be struggling in this Arsenal side for it to all be their fault. The players aren’t gelling together, they don’t appear to be a unit or united either. In fact at times, they look like a team who struggle in a Sunday League.

Somehow, but I can’t see how, Arsene Wenger has to get his group of players together and get them playing as a team. He has to get them believing in what he believes in, although goodness only knows what that is these days. Perhaps it’s time for something new although as we know, Wenger is reluctant to change his ways although I don’t know why as it’s not like his current ‘plans’ are working.

If he can, we might improve, individuals might up their game as they did at the end of last season and especially for the FA Cup. That alone shows that we don’t have a load of bad players in the squad. It’s all very well Gary Neville tearing some of them to pieces during our last game and he was justified in doing so but I honestly don’t believe they are bad, just misguided.

A worry though is how early in the season they seem to have given up playing for the manager but But then again, it’s not that early is it? What they’ve been doing in training etc is probably no different to what they’ve been doing since the day they joined the club.

If we find it all drab, hard to watch and predictable, what must be like for them day after day, week after week, season after season?

Can’t be much fun can it? Or should I say enjoyable……

    Morning all.
As with Jack, Arsene has never found the best way to utilise Mesut, yet fans relentlessly criticise him-I don’t get that.
Ozil is what he is, and he’s a player you have to accomodate because what you see is what you get.
    Arsene hasn’t done it yet.
It used correctly, we could have Mesut for another 4-5 years but If not, there’s no point keeping him.
    Build around him.
Let him do what he does in defence-or what he doesn’t do-but select guys around him do defend and just get the ball to him.
    Pretty simple formula, i believe.
Let players do what they do best.

Thanks Rico…………………..I`m looking forward to the Bournemouth game with no stress as I dont care at the moment, I still feel numb from Wenger`s failed promises TW…………………..although according to Ornstein, we are saving the monies for the January TW……………………….hahahaha…………………….with EPL inflation, Lemar will then cost £150M !

I expect in my new optimistic couldn`t careless atitude to beat Bournemouth by a record EPL score with Wenger finally playing our best team with……………..Ozil, Alexis,Lacazette, Kolasinac and Bellein all in their best positions !……………..keep a calculator at hand as the score will be huge !……………………….we will then go on and win everything like we did in pre-season !…………which will be a huge disappointment as we need to get relegated to get rid of Wenger and Kroenke !…………hahahaha

  3. ScottfromOz says:

Ya morbid bastard, LC 🙂 🙂
Are there any high profile players we know if from other clubs that are down to their last season-possible january targets-or do we have them all lol

  4. Le Coq Monster says:

Scott, you are the ultimate !……………………………..Own a brewery, support Arsenal !…………………..if anyone needed the perfect excuse and opportunity to get drunk !………..and that`s without Rico nagging you ! …….hahahahahahaha

  5. ScottfromOz says:

On Ozil and Alexis, is it possible there are large onsell clauses, payable to Real and Barca if we do sell them before their contracts up???
This may absorb a decent part of the financial hit if they do run their contracts down.

  6. ScottfromOz says:

LC, I don’t need an excuse to have an ale lol
Page 3-nope, political correctness stopped that years ago 🙂

  7. Le Coq Monster says:

I think I kept saying last season that we would have some record EPL scores and I`m still waiting !…………obviously I was joking last season, but this time I mean it………Bounremouth is a retirement seaside town with more zimmerframes than cars, they have the worlds largest quantity of aluminium !

  8. Gunnernet says:

I blame wenger for our current situation at the club. 100perc. But this notion that he doesnt get the best out of his players and thats why ozil hasnt delivered is ridiculus.. maybe mesut u should shut up and at least show some intent instead of posting like a 17 year old girl all the time! He is almost at his 30s he doesnt need nourishment. We concede goals when we lose possession. How have u reacted on this?? Simply by apologizing to the fans and start talking emotionally. Just stfu go out there and work your socks off if you cant contribute creatively. This is respect to me!

  9. rico says:

Just been checking our fixtures, up until Christmas, apart from two breaks which I guess is for international football, we have a game nearly every three days…

  10. rico says:

Gunnernet. So if you blame Wenger 100%, what is it you’re blaming him for because I can’t see he’s getting the best out of many of our players, if any.

  11. Le Coq Monster says:

The League Cup and Europa are what I`m looking forward too if he plays the young un`s…………Nkettiah, Nelson and the fringe squad !

  12. Le Coq Monster says:

Right, the bod needs needs execise !………………it`s just ludicrous that someone at 61 has a six pack, but hey, someone has to be the SAGA and Womans Institute pin up ! hahahaha

  13. Gunnernet says:

Yes rico but u cant use this to account for players willingness. Its too wengerish critisizing others when you are at fault. All i am saying is that of u want to make a stetement and hit out at your critics u show it on the pitch by improving or at least showing intent to improve your shortcomings and weaknesses. Freeze him down and give jack a chance. At least he is motivated. Only people covering for each other and expressing discipline should play.

  14. rico says:

Gunnernet, I get what you’re saying honest but is it just a coincidence that it’s not just Ozil who’s been average?

    I’m not convinced…

  15. ScottfromOz says:

Rico, I don’t think it’s the coaching as such, as the player should already know how to play the game.
It’s the positional swapping of them:
They lose confidence and that’s a killer-more management than coaching??

  16. allezkev says:

    Morning All
    Morning Rico

I didn’t watch any international football over the last few days, not even seen the goals, I can’t be arsed. International football really is total rubbish.

To be fair to Ozil and his comments on ex-Arsenal players, how many time do you ever hear ex-Liddlepool players ripping into them or ex-Mancs criticising ManUre.
You don’t get Gary Neville digging the Mancs out, not even last season when they were shit.
Phil Thompson, Steve McManaman, Michael Owen, when did you last hear them slagging off the Scousers, it never happens.
But Paul Merson, Stewart Robson, Thierry Henry, they’re always at it.
Obviously it’s the theme running through their production teams of who they work for…

‘Arsenal Crisis’ will always generate clicks, listeners, viewers.

The media play us like a violin…

  17. Adam says:

Once you take the Sky shilling though Kev!
Robson and Merson I understand. When your IQ is lower than your hat size!
Thierry is a disappointment but, after he appears on Strictly Come Dancing I see a chat show coming his way.

  18. allezkev says:

Is anybody really looking forward to the World Cup in Russia next year, because I couldn’t give a shit?

Vladimir Putin will turn it into some kind of 1936 Olympics.

And as for the farce that’ll be Qatar 2022, with all our domestic football fcuked up, we’ll I can barely contain my excitement… ☹️

  19. ScottfromOz says:

Kev, on ex-players, you are right and it disappoints me.
There’s more criticism from plenty than there is support.
Some of them forget that they were surrounded by great players, in stand out squads.
    That’s not the case now.

  20. allezkev says:

I understand how it works Adam for sure, but it’s so slanted, all the time, but then every criticism of Arsenal and Arsene Wenger is gobbled by NewsNow/KnowNothing, regurgitated by the click-bait sites and pushed out there ad nuseum even if the source was some shit Chile reporter.

It’s so fcuking boring mate, the whole football circus is boring.

  21. Adam says:

It is Kev. But that might be because of the plight of our club. We just have to hope that there are big changes around the corner that would encourage us again.

  22. allezkev says:

That’s true Adam, but don’t the media love to go on incessantly about our problems as if we’re the only club with issues.
I mean West Ham are a mess, but when did you last read West Ham Crisis.
Crystal Palace are fcuked up, but we read virtually nothing.
I know that Arsenal are news, but it’s so contrived mate.

Watch out for all those candles, I hope the fire brigade have been informed? ?

  23. allezkev says:

It does disappoint Scott, but that’s the nature of the beast I guess.

Whatever you might think of him and he’s on the radio a lot, you don’t hear Perry Groves slagging the club.

Martin Keown, is always being prompted on MotD to start slagging off Wenger and the club, but he carefully avoids most of it, but Henry on Sky, well that is disappointing.

The thing is we don’t need ex players telling us what we already know, if they’re smart enough they can talk around it.

Stewart Robson has a beef, so it’s clear where he’s coming from.

Patrick Vieira, despite having a reason to be over critical, is quite good at saying a lot but saying fcuk all.
Maybe it’s because he’s a manager and most of the others are not.

I mean Gary Neville was a rip roaring success in Spain wasn’t he.
    You’d think he know better!

  24. ScottfromOz says:

I guess they’re paid to voice an opinion, and if they offer nothing controversial, they’d be viewed as boring or even dishonest, when it comes to Arsenal.
Still, some could be a little more guarded, as they’re every bit as guilty as Arsene of giving ammo to the media every time a microphone is in front of them.
    Robson is a complete prick.
I see and hear more of him than the others combined, and his bitterness just seeps out of the pores of his skin every time the topic of Arsenal is raised.
    He’s one sorry, twisted man.

  25. potter says:

Gary Neville just tries to keep the managerial line of supporting managers in general which proves he is waiting for another go. His time at Valencia was as ill founded as Tony Adams at Granada both clubs were in turmoil and none of the players spoke English. Neither really stood a chance.

  26. rico says:

    Afternoon Kev, guys.

A bit of breeze and some rain and yes, my internet drops out!

    Hopefully Adam.. 😉

I heard Nevlle rip into Utd Kev… 😉

  27. rico says:

I might be controversial here but are the ex players saying anything different to what we the fans are. Some of us blame Wenger, some the players for their pathetic attitude, some a bit of both.

As said earlier, everything relating to the football we play is tired, boring and predictable… Wenger has set us up for all the criticism we get which I think, is deserved…

  28. ScottfromOz says:

    Rico, they’re just like us.
They have their opinions and some differ from others.
When they defend Wenger, we hardly hear about it.
    When they attack, it’s everywhere.
The media just thrives on controversy, which is only natural.

  29. Kk says:

To be fair I often hear ex Liverpool and mancs players criticising their clubs especially when things were going wrong. .scholes, nevilles, carragher, souness all had things to say about their clubs and other clubs.

Media pressure is the best way if we want to force a change from all the tiring and boring debates as Rico elequently has put it..
I am with what Henery saying about the current affairs at AFC .I don’t find it disrespectful at all, but I could be the only one here ?

  30. Joaquim Moreira says:

    AW did not remember Sagna?
    He is free, isn’t he?
If we have sold Debuchy (is he always injury?) couldn’t we signed for Sagna free?
could be a good player in the bench …

  31. Joaquim Moreira says:

I know Rico. I don’t understanfd what he is doing there, but he is still there.
How many games had he play last season?
    R. Madrid interesting in Sanchez

  32. frednerk says:

    Afternoon Rico and All.

Thank god everyone is having a go
at the circus that The Arsenal is
under this lot of money grabbers.
Do any of them players give a monkeys,
    they all want away..Don’t they.
Do any of board members stand up and
tell the truth to the fans.
Would Stan and Josh be in it for the soccer.
Last but not least we have promises.lies, spin
the man who says transfers fees are dead, yet
offers 92 million for a player a month earlier
    would have cost 50 million.

So all you ex/players and media please slag
The Arsenal as much as you can, because we
have Arsenal fans who really believe our club
    is well run.
Honestly some of the stuff you read,we could be
going along like this forever..Happy I’m not.

  33. Le Coq Monster says:

Most biased person I have heard is Micky Quinn when on talkSPORT…………every year he`s adamant the scouse gits will win the league and every game and every year he is wrong !………….I prefered it when he had his arm up Spit the Dogs arse !…………….or was it the other way around ?

  34. Lee says:

“We did a lot wrong and could not keep up with Liverpool. There are days like that, I’d prefer they didn’t happen. But I we do lose, I’d rather lose 4-0 one that suffer four 1-0 defeats.”

Xhaka, so he rather lose 4 games?? Cracking attitude from one of supposedly hard men.

  35. Joaquim Moreira says:

    Alexis Sanchez – Chile coach:
“Jose Sulantay, a former Chilean U-20 picker, shot: “I saw him out of shape, absolutely. You’re fatter than normal. Never left an opponent behind, did not make any diagonal, was another player. ”

Speaking to the newspaper La Cuarta, Sulantay added: “You may have problems in the future because of the declarations of wanting to leave Arsenal. You’ll have to be careful in England … »”

  36. ScottfromOz says:

I agree with Petit that players should be motivated by the fact they’re being very well paid to play a game they love, and for our club.
If they play like they lack motivation, then Wenger should drop them, no matter who they are.

  37. Kk says:

Because he has no guts scott. .
The selection fiasco at Liverpool is enough to convince the most staunch wenger supporter that he’s finished.
    However….

  38. ScottfromOz says:

KK, does it matter what his supporters think, though?
Surely it matters more what he and Stan think.
Either one can change the entire future of the club by making the call.

  39. Adam says:

Morning Rico. I was alarmed to read that Arsene actually thought about leaving before signing his new contract. 🙂
The Bournemouth game is beginning to take on massive proportions as the days pass.

  40. Le Coq Monster says:

    Morning all.

Arsene saying he considered leaving before signing a new contract is just his way of tormenting us ………….The Wenger Torture Syndrome ……………………………dont let Lee know ! hahaha!

  41. Le Coq Monster says:

“I ask myself all the time if I should continue to run the club”……………………….dont ask yourself, listen to what the fans want !

  42. Kk says:

Scott you asked why he dosnt drop his favourites and I reckon because he has no guts. .pettit and other wenger apologists trying to deviate the blame on players motivation and commitment yet rarely saying that wenger is also highly paid to do just that. .

I find that ironic and sometimes pathetic.
It’s all been discussed ad nauseum really..

    Morning Rico and all..

  43. Le Coq Monster says:

Gazidis talking crap aswell…..said, Liverpool result put a negative spin on our transfer window !…………basically, we have Tossers from Wenger upwards !

  44. Le Coq Monster says:

He gets a kick out of tormenting us ………….all the board do !…………………..probably some sexual pleasure from it ! hahaha
