Defender offer made? Mertesacker wants German move. Rosicky one of the best…..

Morning all.

Tomas Rosicky.

A player robbed of many years playing the game he loves because of injury, an injury which no-one could truly work out how to correct.

Not only has Tomas been robbed of playing time, but so too have Arsenal. Even at his ripe old age, he makes a huge difference to the way we play when he’s involved.

His old legs run like he’s fifteen years younger, his passion and commitment to win is clear to see and he comes across as such a lovely guy who loves Arsenal FC and all it stands for. Including the fans.

We’ve had many great players turning out in the wonderful red and white and so many that all of us would love to see back playing… IF they were just a few years younger….

Tomas hasn’t left yet, in fact rumour is he’s set to sign a new contract and if that’s true then I for one won’t complain as it makes sense.

Ok, none of us are stupid, we know he can’t play for 90 mins each and every weekend and the matches in between but I guess he’s our luxury player in the squad. The one who can either start a game and make our midfield/attack click or he can come off of the bench to speed our attack up and create a little bit of magic, something different and give us that little bit of extra zip.

Just how good??
Just how good??

Not only on the pitch does he tend to make us click but this man has so much experience inside that old and wise head, he surely has something to offer off of it….

I’d actually like to see him stay with Arsenal for many years in some kind of a role. Maybe coaching? He’d be good…

He’s a stubborn old toad though because I believe he could prolong his club career if he were to hang up his international football boots.

Not too long ago, Rosicky described his experience of playing alongside both Santi Cazorla and Mesut Ozil as fun!

Well, Mesut Ozil has responded to that:

The feeling is mutual because we are similar types of player. We’re strong when we’re on the ball, we play quickly and I have lots of fun playing alongside the team.

In my opinion Tomas belongs to the best midfielders in the Premier League. When you see how much he gives for the team and how he enjoys being on the ball it makes us happy to have a player like that in our ranks.

Can anyone really argue with the view of Mesut when Tomas gives us so much every time he plays?

Our little German maestro is clearly loving his new footballing life too:

Before I came to Arsenal, I knew that the Club belonged among the top five in Europe. I knew that they were technically gifted and strong and you see that on the training ground when we are doing passing drills – the ball is always moving.

I think that’s thanks to the way young players are coached at the Club because they always train with the ball, run passing drills and ultimately it’s being rewarded.

That’s high praise again from Mesut Ozil, a player who came from a club deemed one of the best in Spain and it’s clear, very clear that our attacking way of coaching and playing, ticks his every box….

Clearly from our seasons performance, the defensive coaching isn’t bad either so all in all, we are getting things right, very right…

We just need one, maybe two of the right kind of player to make us just that little bit stronger, our squad that little bit deeper and our attacking options a little bit more lethal….

Sixteen days left Arsenal, go on, make it happen…..

Well, Julian Draxler rumbles on, as does Jackson Martinez and then of course there is Benfica’s Rodrigo. According to Portuguese newspaper O Jogo, he’s the latest striker Arsene Wenger wants to sign. The striker joined his current club back in 2010 but suggestion is, he could be on the move to the EPL with us…

But, and I’ll finish on the young German Julian Draxler, Per Mertesacker would love to see him sign for us:

He has already make a big impact at Schalke and in the German national team, despite his young age.

He would be very welcome here. I’m excited to see what happens. You hear a lot of rumours this time of year.

I think the fans would more than welcome Julian Draxler at Arsenal too.

The Daily Mail report that we have made an offer for Notts Forest 20 year old defender Jamaal Lascelles. Newcastle have also made an offer according to the same paper…..

That’s your lot for today, have a good one….

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this post…

In my view the Little Mozart, and Arteta are the most under rated total footballers in this league. I consider those 2 the best FOOTBALLERS in our squad and I guess a few of the kids like Olsson, Serge, Ox and Zelalem have all said something similar…

TR07 is one reason why I fell in love with BVB09 in the earlier 2000’s…

Like you I hope he stays on after his career in some capacity because anytime he talks he is always going on about shapes and movement etc; I can see him being a decent coach not necessarily a manager imo…

  2. snaparse says:

very nice read Rico…….how are you ts????….I think everybody loves tomaz……even the youth look up to him…..I like most of you would be very sad if he leaves…..I really hope we get draxler as I see him as the next rvp imo

  3. rico says:

    Thanks snap..

I’m not sure Tomas is that under-rated, certainly not by the fans and even the pundits have been signing his praises this season.

Trouble is, those same pundits tend to focus on the players at the other clubs because they cost more no doubt and don’t play for us..

Can’t say I really care what they think though….

  4. Joaquim Moreira says:

Rodrigo never played with Benfica. He is, maybe the third or fourth choice for Benfica.
He is an average player, young but he is not strong enought

  5. Scott from Oz says:

    Morning all.
Rico, funny….i asked on a FB page the other day why we are so worried about what pundits say about Arsenal……it is only an opinion, and most often a biased one, but so many make it personally..
Anyway, rumour has it a mass exodus from North London is about to take place, and it has nothing do do with me FINALLY coming over at the end of March…that is if you mob let me in 🙂

  6. tsgh says:

JM- I agree with you in parts on Rodrigo but I guess he is young so he could improve…

Saying that I do not watch a lot of Primeira Liga and so….

  7. rico says:

    Not for us then JM.

I take no notice of them either Scott, in fact some of the garbage they spout makes me wonder how they have a job..

Although I am looking forward to TH14 joining one of the mainstream football channels very soon. Not sure which one it will be yet as they all want him…

  8. tsgh says:

Scott- do you remember one of my comments last summer? ‘why do we envy what the spurds are doing? they will sell of of them by next summer to finance a stadium move most probably’…

Levy had to veto Holtby’s move because he has to sell the more expensive ones’ instead…

  9. Bergkampforlife says:

Hi All, I hope TR07 will be there for another few years, hope he retires from intermationals. I think he is very highly rated by our manager, which is all that matters, as AW uses TR07 in all the big games and the UEFA games. BTW, has anyone read RVP’s comments on his development, do you think he is looking for a way back to Arsenal? he most propably wants to win another trophy (NO CHANCE BACK)

  10. tsgh says:

ha ha ha according to Mg’s ‘sauce’…

    No BfL i haven’t read VP’s latest ‘wisdow’… do you have a link?…

I will personally take him back, especially if he is coming with his ‘tail between his legs’..

  11. snaparse says:

ts who do you think will make it to the first team among zalalem, bellerin ,olsoon eisfield yenneris. and hayden

  12. tsgh says:

I think Yennaris and Eisfield should be first team players….

Eisfield is what a big game player is all about imo… he raises his game when he wants to but I guess he is not consistent enough to get ahead of someone like Ox…

I think Bellerin will be promoted next summer depending on Sagna’s situation and the signing of a CB etc and how we finish the season …

Ollson I am not sure Aw rates even though he is a far better player than Zelalem at this stage… I think he is a very good footballer and the ideal foil for arteta if he can bulk up for the duels…

I think Zelalem needs another year or 2 as his game is very one dimensional imho…

Crowley got injured playing for the u-21’s last night it is being reported…

  13. snaparse says:

bellerin is my favourite(was scared u would say he isn’t gonna make it hence I didn’t make it clear)…..I think he is far better than jekinson(in terms of ability)………I like olsoon too he is like arteta but he gets brushed off d ball quite often

  14. tsgh says:

I like Hayden but I do not think he is better than Frimpong was at that age imho…

Moreover, Aw hardly promotes defenders/defensive minded players and strikers from the academy… in fact I would say it is appalling that in the 16 years AW has been with us we have not had our own Morata coming through the system…

The closest we had a striker come through was Aladierre and Lupoli who both eventually had to leave due to a number of reasons…

It could be argued that B-52 is a product of our academy but
saying that he felt he was not treated well by AW…

That is why I like SP1 was disappointed in AW for bringing on Ox so soon after the player had a very poor 45 minutes with the u-21’s last week…

I understand Rico’s well put view on the situation but I would have expected Aw to put on CJ25 instead to make us go 5 at the back since we were on the ropes against AV at that time when TR07 went off especially if AW was concerned about our defensive shape…

This kind of things can tarnish moral in some cases imho…
    ——————————————
The AV game again shows what Flamini does or does not do for the team imo… I have nothing against him but I do not believe in a game like that a DM should only make 2 tackles, 3 interceptions as a stat…

Also considering against Man City he made no successful tackle throughout the game whilst AR16 who had an average performance by his standards made 4 successful tackles…..

  15. W.A.T.H says:

    Morning,

Ts, you reckon Zelalem is one dimensional…. In what way…? I don’t see that in him at all and the boy is very strong on the ball which Ollson isn’t.

  16. W.A.T.H says:

We all know the quality we need to be buying but if we honest who is actually for sale this Jan to take us up a notch..? Before anyone says offer over the odds there is making an over the top offer and there is getting ripped off…!

  17. tsgh says:

    Hiya WATH…

I think Zelalem is very good picking the right pass but watching him live at the Erms this season for the u-21 and what others have said on the youth sites he is a very lazy playerand average next to the likes of Toral and even Crowley when he starts a match; but he is just 16 and because he has not had formal academy training until he joined us he has room to improve..

Ollsson in my view is very under rated for his strength imo…

When he played against WBA he did not look out of place or weak at all imo… when he plays for sweden at u-19 he bosses the game too..

  18. snaparse says:

ts……Its a myth that Wenger promotes youth when all he does is buy them young from another academy……….I’m not really a big fan of flamini to be honest…..all he does is shout and wave hands……he isn’t the best tackler or interceptor in the team……in 2008 he got away with bad positioning because hr had the pace to recover but now that he doesn’t really have the pace its showing……arteta and Luca of Liverpool are the best DM in the league imo

  19. snaparse says:

I like Hayden and hope he makes it but I like miquel more…….he is a very good ball playing defender but this league really isn’t meant for him…….ts what to u think of Campbell?????? he would have been Walcott’s replacement seeing as he scores and creates goals……..I watched him a few time for Costa Rica and he really is a bright player

  20. tsgh says:

Same here on Miguel… that is why I am not sure why we are after Jamaal of Nottingham?
Will AW play a 20 y.o at CB?

I rate Lucas big time… re Brazil, him and Santos ahead of Gustavo for me any day…

Nordveit was another player AW should have played at CB or given a chance to but instead he played the likes of Le Squid because of their experience…

  21. tsgh says:

Thanks BFL for the link… 😉

Snap- JC is a curious one but even as a strong believer in AW I do not understand that at he was loaned with a view to sell… but hey he may block the progress of likes of Ox or Akpom so…

  22. potter says:

Experience , how do young players get it ? You all know it to be one of my personal bugbears but until a decent standard adult reserve competition is reintroduced it won’t just be Arsenal that doesn’t produce top players from their academies, it will be a problem throughout and probably the reason why our national teams are so poor. They develop until they reach 21 and then it’s sink or swim . They need to play against adults and stay within the Arsenal system to be any use when their first team chance materialises. The loan system doesn’t work for 95 % of players that get farmed out and see their careers collapse as they get abandoned to a lesser clubs bench.

  23. W.A.T.H says:

Potter totally agree with the lack of proper reserve football…. It’s boys against boys then boys against men…. huge jump and very hard to tell how players will take the level and the intensity.

Hear what you saying Ts just think Zelalem is strong gets around the pitch and has that all important vision that only some are born with. I like Olsson a lot, the boy is a baller for sure BUT I still question his strength and physical attributes to make that big step up, apparently thats the issue at the club as well with him…! They not sure he can cope..! Time will tell and a proper reserve league would help that…! Shame all they do is mess with the youth’s and reserve team football.

  24. lokii Elyrs says:

fine all in all we have always praised Tomas and greatly his impact on the ball and on the pitch is extra-ordinary but only can Arsene Wenger consider along bringing good strikers
and further good defenders? and further does he feel the stiff completion from the Man city and Chelsea for they are really fighting for the title?

  25. W.A.T.H says:

Scott joins in the conversation when the option arises of getting a few AFC players on his home made grog….

  26. tsgh says:

You have a solid point WATH…

We can say at 18/19 Ollson may not develop much physically whilst Zelalem is bigger and is 2 years younger so you are right…

The opposite is true of Serge who is big but struggles to play or train after a match due to his muscular build and I have heard too high lactic acid in his system…

the reason they say Aw does not push him much…

  27. Scott from Oz says:

Ginge, we have one side in particular who are a bloody decent spectacle….a cheap version of Arsenal, if you like, but brilliant on occasions.
Brisbane Roar…..the best aide here over the last 4-5 years.
Some of our kids would slot straight in.
I am off to dream off rainy days and warm beer…and of course, THE ARSENAL.
    Night all.

  28. snaparse says:

completely agree with you potter……..coc should b used to give the youths opportunities…….. unfortunately we have d Russians and Arabs buying everybody thus we can’t get to even see the youths in a lesser cup competition again

  29. W.A.T.H says:

Welcome Lokii…. Think we all know the players we need and the positions to compete with the Chavs n the manc oilers… we cannot out bid them but we are also not hard up… we must spend our money wisely thats all but we have a lot of cash…!

  30. potter says:

Maybe a seeding in the cups might have a double effect, more big pay days for the smaller clubs and more chances for reserve players. perhaps even a special cup where premier teams reserves are played against lower division teams.

  31. W.A.T.H says:

Ts we all know people progress at different times and stages in life players no different all about how they mature and at what age.. some have strong mens bodies at 16/17 some not until 21/22 It’s about taking each individual case and seeing the talent and doing what you can with the physical side.

  32. potter says:

Just to expand it , perhaps instead of coming in at the third round, premier teams enter at the first but have to play no more than 4 or 5 first teamers until the 4th round where they can bring in the big boys.

  33. W.A.T.H says:

Potter it makes for feeder clubs being more and more an option… being allowed like they do in Spain to have basically an B side playing as Orient or Brentford etc etc…. Cue the abuse from any Bee’s or O’s fans on here lol

  34. potter says:

That makes sense too W.A.T.H , if you want players to progress they need to be kept close to home and taught by your own people. After all if you lend something you have to be aware that no-one looks after your stuff the way that they do their own.

  35. Lee says:

According to a report on Auxerre TV, Franco-Cameroonian striker Paul-George Ntep is on the cusp of joining Arsenal on a five-year deal.

The website claims the Gunners will pay €10 million to take the France under-21 striker off the hands of the Ligue 2 side who have already lined up Serbian attacker Nikola Stojiljkovic as a replacement.

Yesterday Auxerre’s president went on record saying he suspected Ntep, who has scored 10 goals in 21 games this season, had travelled to London at the weekend for negotiations although he stressed that no bid had been received from the Gunners. Ligue 1 side Rennes are believed to have lodged a bid in the region of €8 million.

There’s nothing official yet, but this rumour seems to be gathering momentum all the time.

Were Ntep to sign for the Gunners he’d be the fouth player from Auxerre to make the move to N5 following the likes of Abou Diaby, Bacary Sagna and Yaya Sanogo.

  36. BrainwashedKev says:

Lauren was our last Cameroonian, and he was as hard as nails…

If this Ntep, is half as good as Ralph, then we’ve got a good ‘un..

  37. W.A.T.H says:

These younger players need to be playing regularly and they need good competition to progress grow and up their levels also it’s good for players who sitting on the bench, needs to be a far greater level of competition at reserve team level or you need to be able to go into partnership with smaller lower league clubs to allow your players to join and nurture them. Won’t happen FA far to blinkered.

As for Ntep am with Grandad Kev if he half as good as Ralph i’d be well chuffed and lets be honest Sagna been a bloody good buy as well, Diaby would of been top notch maybe had it not been for the bricklayer Dan Smith… we’ll never know on that one.

  38. rico says:

Saddened by the news of Trigger and latterly Owen in The Vicar of Dibley. Super actor and very very funny man…

    RIP big guy…

    Evening peoples….

  39. Micko says:

rico, I know Sanogo has been a resounding success this season but Ntep, no thanks, he can bugger off to qpr.

  40. Micko says:

Trigger down the Nags Head during the height of mad cows disease telling Del Boy there was nothing wrong with the meat pies behind the bar ‘They never did me any harm’ classic comedy…..sad.

  41. rico says:

🙂 Micko, he spoke many a wickedly funny line.. I loved him in Vicar of Dibley too, great actor, great humorous lines delivered so well…

He’s in London apparently, maybe Monaco is a smokescreen… lol

  42. kali says:

    evening all

Ntep is a good prospect but not in the mould of striker we
are hoping for,but for a winger who can score goals,he willl be good addition,i have seen quite a bit of him here in france, and
he’s showing great talent…a bigger version of Gnarby if i can compare the two…taller, stronger physique and he is quick..best player of ligue 2 last year .

weather he can cut it in the PL,remains to be seen..
him coming in,if indeed, plus someone else up front, will be
    good imo….

  43. rico says:

Kali, do you know if he’s left or right footed?

Just wondering if there is any truth in this story, he’s being seen as cover/a challenge for TW or Pod?

  44. kali says:

hi Rico,he is right footed, but he plays on the LHS most of the times i saw him, he is comfortable with his both feet,
he is very tricky customer and at almost 1,8m of height,he is very handful….

the rumour is gathering pace here in france…but again it can be agents twisting …but he is real good

  45. rico says:

I’ll have to take your word on that one then Kali as I know nothing about him…

He’s certainly the kind of player AW likes to sign though, young and cheap 😉

    Is he quick?

  46. kali says:

typical AW signing,if we go for him…and yes he is quite quick…
he will offer good dimension on our wings…

  47. rico says:

Guess I just worry a bit as he’s coming from a French Div 2 side, but I guess all players have to start somewhere…

Let’s see if we sign him before worrying 😉

  48. rico says:

Arsenal have not made a bid for French Ligue 2 player Paul-Georges Ntep despite reports suggesting a deal is imminent, according to Auxerre president Guy Cotret.

The forward is believed to have caught the eye of Gunners boss Arsene Wenger and talk has been growing over a £7m January move.

But the club’s president Cotret has dismissed speculation the 21-year-old is on his way to the Emirates.

‘Arsenal has not even expressed an interest. We just received 1 offer for the player and it was Rennes,’ he said.

  49. malaga gooner says:

How come Haringey council will do everything possible to help the scum and our own lot block us from eaning £

  50. tsgh says:

    Hey Mg,

How come you have not told us an EPL team has just had a 16M bid rejected by RM for Morata… c’mon keep up…

    evening folks…

Micko stop running from me,… lol

  51. malaga gooner says:

Gginge I have just got in from work,,Ithink you will find its the spuds who have bid for him and they are also trying to get lescot on loan

  52. kali says:

Ntep+Morata….will boost our attacking options vastly

the spuds need to sell before they buy, most of the newly arrivals wanna bust out…..typical

  53. kali says:

i heard Levy is blocking Holtby to go to Schalke so we dont get Draxler?…the story of Bale and Ozil comes to mind

  54. rico says:

Caughtoffside reckon we are in for Luke Shaw… Errrr, I don’t think so, we already have two very good left backs…

  55. Scott from Oz says:

    Rumpologist?
Thought i had heard it all.
Ask her to check Arsene’s arse out and determine if we will be winning the league this season.

  56. kali says:

begining of the season ,most were raving about how spuds can challenge for the title and so on after lashing out 100mil….

AW said buying more than three players can upset the overall balance of the team….again the man knows what he’s talking about

  57. tsgh says:

    😀 Scott

kali Adebawhore is their saviour… anything related to Arsenal those scums want and adore on the down low… 🙂

  58. tsgh says:

Afellay is always injured I wonder if he shares the same physio as Abou Dhabi?

Interesting Chelsea is set to sign Kurt Zouma, club now allow Barcelona to talk with David Luiz. He can leave if the Frenchman signs.

  59. kali says:

Chelsea are very shrewd club when it comes to transfers….selling Matic for 2-3mil only for them to re-sign him for 20mil+….genious!

  60. BrainwashedKev says:

    Ntep has big thighs…

    Is that right Rico? 🙂

Big Brother is getting quite heated…

I must say that Uncle Lionel does tend to swear like a Docker…

Jim Davidson and Linda Nolan make for very interesting viewing…
They would certainly liven up the HHCC…

    Night All

  61. rico says:

🙂 Wath, I expected nothing less from you…

Morning to you, Adam and Lee, the latter being another cheeky toad 😉

  62. Lee says:

Trigger: You knew my Grandad Arthur, didn’t you Mr Trotter.

Grandad: Yeah, I knew Arthur alright.

Trigger: He was a smashing man, he took care of me when my Mum went.

    Rodney: Where was your Dad?

Trigger: He died a couple of years before I was born.

  63. Lee says:

Trigger: Sometimes I think about the future. I don’t want to end up a lonely bachelor like my cousin Ronnie. Then again he always had a strange taste in women.

    Denzil: In what way?

    Trigger: Well, they were men!

  64. Lee says:

Del Boy: We had Denzil in goal, we had Monkey Harris at right-back, we had…we had camaraderie.

Trigger: Was that the Italian boy?

  65. rico says:

He might be Ts, but so might Morata….

Arsenal’s attempts to sign young Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata have suffered another blow.

The 21-year-old was top of Gunners boss Arsene Wenger’s January wish list after Theo Walcott’s season was prematurely ended with a knee injury.

Reports in Spain, though, suggest that the out-of-favour hitman could be heading to Italy with Inter and Fiorentina leading the race for his services.

Table-topping Arsenal want to take the Spain Under-21 international on loan for the rest of the season.

They were already facing competition from Benfica who were toying with the idea of buying him outright for €7 million.

But Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has claimed that he will not be doing any business in the January transfer window leaving Arsenal once again in the driving seat.

But now El Confidencial are suggesting that Morata is likely to head to Italy as he is receiving more assurances of regular first team football from both Inter and Fiorentina.

  66. rico says:

Nothing in the papers today relating to us, what a boring boring transfer window this is so far, I do so hope AW has something planned….

    Time is ticking by….

  67. rico says:

Hope you can get a ticket Scott 😉

I’ll let my chickens know they have a Aussie looking after them and will put the BBQ away…. lol
