Mata Ready and Waiting, What about the Defender, Surely he has to be Signed Soon??

This post begins from Sunday morning, one man’s views on our weekend:

It’s Sunday morning, so I don’t know the outcome of the Emirates Cup, none of us do – I intend to play golf and as I don’t have ESPN, I watched our first game with Boca Juniors on a stream. They are not the best I know, they keep freezing, adverts pop up and when play resumes it’s all in quick motion…..

Anyway, I’ll have to watch Sundays game the same way, unless of course the 19th hole at the Golf Club keeps me a bit too long… 😉

Well what did we learn from our first game at the Emirates?

I know what you’re going to say about Gervinho, what a signing he looks to be?

I know its early to start the praise but has the Chess Master (Wenger) found a knight or what?

This guy is just oozing special abilities, he moves like the wind, jinks like a viper and crosses like a winger and from what I have seen of him, I’m quite impressed.

Another player who has certainly surprised me is young Carl Jenkinson, I thought he was brought for the future but from what I have seen of him he looks like a human dynamo, I wasn’t expecting that. He plays with heart and he just wants to be a part of everything. He’s committed in the tackle, chases back and makes a right nuisance of himself and his first instinct is to cross the ball and if that’s anything to go by, I like the look of him already.

Wenger in a previous interview on something completely different said, ‘Some travel on sweat and some on petrol’ – all I can say at this early stage is these two are definitely on the 97 premium.

The first half was all about getting to know one another again and although we looked a really tidy outfit, I felt we were still missing a bit of spark, until Gervinho got the ball, took off like a rabbit that had been shot at and made a perfect pass to our stand in captain Van the man and it was smashed in the net.

Happy days, I was out the chair and running down the garden well not so much running but I was happy, my neighbours must think I’m mad. That goal was so quick and easy it makes you wonder what the future holds for us. We produce some wonderful stuff at times and these guys are capable of doing this all the time and I’m getting excited, all the guys did well, they worked for one another and chased and harried and were so determined to get that loose ball back.

The second half started with 5 changes which I hate.

I know he has to try different players out and within seconds of the restart, a bit of Vela magic and a shot from Rambo ( two out of the 5 that came on) and we were two up, simple and quick. I had just sat down and I was back down the garden, my beer went all over the place, the old woman was growling as she went out to get a cloth, I thought hello this is going to be good.

That was the end of the magic, in fact things started to go downhill and come the final whistle those two goals had been pulled back.
Boca Jnrs in all fairness are a decent team but not compared to us. The changes that the Chess Master made put us into a position where we allowed them back in the game and shoddy defending of course being the main reason.

We need to sort this out and soon!

Defending is where we suffer and it doesn’t matter how many Gervinho Knights we buy, that won’t make us better at the back, so I urge our King Arsene, to pull his sword out of the rock and get our trusty Bishops in Place.

Sunday…..

Well, we all know what happened by now, we were again the superior team and we had most of the play. We played as if we had all the time in the world and in all fairness it was a friendly but we needed a win against Redbulls and they needed either a win or draw to win The Emirates Cup.

A free kick which unusually was taken by Rosicky was inch perfect for Van our man who’s glancing header put us 1-0 up. Hopefully Robin will realise that he is supposed to be in the middle to score and that when he usually takes them, very seldom can he get them on target, so hopefully lesson learnt.

The game carried on and we finished the half 1.0 up. The Ems Cup almost in our pocket, just don’t let a goal in and the Cups ours.

Our Chess Master starts to make changes, far too many to mention.

We kept on pushing, pass after pass sideways backwards forwards and sideways backwards, you know the score, absolutely no penetration and no finish! Then in the closing minutes they have a breakaway and low and behold who gets the ball, none other than old Arsenal legend Henry, who slips a pin point pass right through our back line, splitting them like a William Tell arrow and a quick cross had our defenders scuttling all over the place. Poor young Kyle Bartley accidentally bundled it over the line.

Game drawn and we had handed the Emirates Cup to an inferior team to us yet again.

So, having rushed home to watch my team, after getting my own backside kicked at golf which cost me a tenner, I had to then watch my own team give up another lead and lose us the trophy, what a painful afternoon!!

Our Chess master has some work to do before the season starts, I know he said he has been working hard to sort it but he’s not working hard enough in the right areas..

Defence Arsene, Defence….

How much money have we just made over The Emirates Cup weekend??

Reports in Spain are that the Juan Mata deal is all ready for him to joining Arsenal, if true that is great news but right now we need to sure up things at the back so how about we sort that out aswell….

Gary Cahill could just be the Knight that our old Chess Master needs…….

After the weekend I’d say we definately need more that one centre half thats for sure…!.

As for yet another new season it’s the same pretty football same potential same shocking defensive mistakes…! are any of us really surprised..?

  2. allezkev says:

Great post Steve, sounds a great hole, that 19th. In fact forget the other 18 and go straight to the 19th… 🙂
Morning Wath, where were you last night?

  3. rico says:

    Morning All

Great read Steve, can’t believe you got beat at golf 😉

Totally agree about the two signings, both have slotted in well and i love Jenkinsons committment already, thats what you get from a Gooner…

Gervinho seems settled early too, considering he is not used to the England or the players yet, great start…

But, he nor any offensive players will not sort out our frailities at the back and we now have less than two weeks to make that defensive signing or two. The PL opposition is far superior to who we have played so far….

  4. W.A.T.H says:

Morning AK, stayed in the pub after the game mate chewing the fat with the chaps….! You’ll be leased to know we solved all our problems…! 😉 You good..?

  5. rico says:

    Hi WATH, AK

I agree re the two defensive signings, JD hasn’t got back to his best and Squilli is shocking….

If only we could get Cahill first then if we do get Jagielka, it won’t be so bad….

35 Million though would get us Cahill and Samba, money well spent me thinks…. And, the old Henry would have roasted TV yesterday on more than one occassion, we have big problems….

  6. allezkev says:

Hi Wath, i really good, thanks mate.
So what conclusions did ya’ll come to in the pub?
    Morning Boss, how’s Mum?

  7. W.A.T.H says:

No conclusions that I am sure you didnt come up with after watching those two games mate, the natives are pretty restless thats for sure, many very sick of the constant excuses and no actions when we act like paupers and it’s not needed to break the bank to bring in what we need is it…? Also most want rid of the players who don’t wanna be there and also sick of the pampering they get…!

  8. goonerstan says:

Guys after watching the game at a pub yesterday I got home and “LITERALLY” cry myself to sleep. What happened to the mighty arsenal guys…what happened.

  9. allezkev says:

Was it just me, but i thought Song was ponderous, his passing a bit iffy, gotta say Frimpong already looks the better option in front of the back-four.
Once Frim’s fitness is up to speed and he can last 90mins, he could provide the shield that could have prevented the 3 goals we conceded over the weekend…

  10. alex says:

i was impressed with the pairing of koscienly and vermaelen but im wirried about the other pair squillaci and djourou the both do flops to much at least sell squillaci and i mean honestly wenger befor the start of the season we need mata and a defender 3 options jagielka cahill samba

  11. W.A.T.H says:

Frim not ready AK, far to raw still…… He def has the makings of a very good DM but we need for the here and now not 2/3 yrs down the line, Song is ponderous what you on about 😉

  12. allezkev says:

Wath, i think a lot of the booing, was done by fans who aren’t regulars, and are probably influenced by the Press [hate them] and the likes of garbage outlets TalkShite etc.
30 days of the Window to go.
We will hopefully see some movement this week.
Players need to be registered by Friday, to be able to play in the Champions Lge Qualifyers…

  13. rico says:

DM, 2 x CH’s and Mata, that would me just nicely but, no way will Wenger get a DM with Song and Frimpong … imho of course..

Welcome Alex, those two are just what we need

    Hi Stan..

  14. allezkev says:

    Gotta do some errands.
See all you great Gooners lata.
    Wath, try and behave while i’m away, ok… :P: :P: :P:

  15. goonerstan says:

Hope we get the three players ANR is reporting we ll sign later this week and I hope MATA is one of them…..a guy can dream right?

  16. W.A.T.H says:

AK, seems a lot of regulars said it was a mix of fans who booed and as they said in all honesty these days how else do you get your point across..? the paying customer has no other way of showing their unhappiness and it wasnt as much the performance but also to highlight the fact ppl not happy with whats gone on over the summer so its a mix of things for me, I don’t boo never have done never will but I can accept ppl that do as thats their right..! The club needs to know the natives are not happy and thats about the only way to get your feelings across they dont listen to anything else do they…!

  17. W.A.T.H says:

That idiot on ANR Stan says we signing players all the time and cant ever remember when he has got one right…!

  18. goonerstan says:

Yeah WATH but like I ve been saying for almost a week now….I think we ll sign mata…u just watch

  19. W.A.T.H says:

I always behave AK, it’s you that leads me astray mate 😛

I hope we sign Mata Stan BUT more importantly I hope we sign at least one centre half better if it’s two and we def nstill need a defensive midfielder as well but that’s not gonna happen as wenger has also neglected that position for the last 3/4 seasons as well.

  20. goonerstan says:

Knowing wenger WATH we probably get Distin….here’s a thought perhaps jag was just a smoke screen the real target was Distin all along!!!

  21. goonerstan says:

If he goes for a cheaper option then there will be trouble in the stands….I think all gooners should unite and vote with their feet by not attending home games and boycotting every arsenal related merchandise.

  22. W.A.T.H says:

There lies the difference in feelings Stan, some think like you and others think it’s wrong to do that…! Who is right and who’s wrong…. I don’t have the answer to that and probably noone does but you must do what you think is right not what opinion tells you too.

  23. goonerstan says:

So what do we do? Just stand around and do nothing while our beloved club goes tilts up….I don’t think so am doing my bit…if it means I become the new KIPMONSTER…..I ll post on every arsenal blog out there just to get my points through

  24. goonerstan says:

Meant “tits up” besides what we r actually doing is lining the pockets of those fat incompetent fools on the board. They ll never invest the cash they generate from me and u into the team. No way. Instead they ll be buying up properties and stuff. WATH wake up and smell the alfalfa these guys don’t give two hoots about u and me they r just there to line their pockets.

  25. W.A.T.H says:

Chers Stan it’s a quiet old day with very little news…! Am with you on the board lining their pockets, been saying that for years…! They don’t get my money anymore I won’t go in untill they sepnd some money and show some ambition and intent.

  26. goonerstan says:

Yep apparently all that is left for MATA to agree personal terms with us. Told u we re gonna get him. Am so excited.

  27. goonerstan says:

Yeah Rico am sure he would have had an earful from wenger but its exactly what we want. Players with balls….cesc couldn’t do it for years neither did RVP so am so glad jack the lad is doing it

  28. Potter says:

I think the realisation that the board sold out and we got the church mouse equivalent of a billionaire that used up all of his disposable cash in buying the shares and that none of that money went into the club was the final straw. For a club that has spent the last few years glorying in the financial returns that have claimed to make it the most solvent in the country. It really is hard to comprehend.

  29. oliver says:

morning all…i didn’t get to see either emirates game, probably a good thing there. from what i’ve read, however, it sounds as though we are more or less picking up where we left off last season, which is not good.

august 13th is less than two weeks away now…what odds there is no further player movement in either direction?

  30. goonerstan says:

You ll see…..just wait for it. Mata will be ours besides nobody else wants him except the swampies and no player worth his onions ever goes down seven sisters road.

  31. rico says:

Hi Potter, i think i read somewhere that AU wanted to meet with SSS and fund a few player signings but the offer was cast aside…

    Or did i dream that..

  32. goonerstan says:

I hear we r now after jarvis the wolves winger…from what I ve seen of him he looks like the kinda player that would do a job for us off the bench…if we get him..he shouldn’t start games.

  33. rico says:

stan – it’s same old rumour though, until we announce a signing, i don’t believe any of it 😉

  34. goonerstan says:

I have a feeling we ll do some business this week….maybe tie up a deal or finalize it and look out for MATA and jagielka who by the way am not convinced is the solution to our defensive problems.

  35. oliver says:

we’ll find out who we play in the cl qualifier on friday. this time i am more apprehensive about the qualifier than in seasons past – including when we had to play celtic two seasons ago. it would be just our luck to “win” a long trip east to play kyiv or kazan…

  36. goonerstan says:

Oh my I just saw the news now…..MATA deal is off!!! Apparently there was a clause to his contract at valencia or something. Am lost for words. You were right all along Rico. I shouldn’t have gotten my hopes up. Now I feel like someone had just reached into my heart and pierced it with a very hot sharp metal. Am totally devastated. Why do these things always happen to us.

  37. rico says:

I hope so stan, we need them in before friday for the sake of the CL qualifiers and the last friendly on saturday…

I don’t want Jags either but if we get him it seems Moyes is goimg to go for Samba… Crazy really, we should just go for Samba…

  38. rico says:

Hi oliver, sorry i missed you arriving.. how’s things?

The Emirates cup was indeed, same old same old style of play and defensive errors, the worst two were on the saturday….

  39. goonerstan says:

Am so bummed out Rico…..who runs a club like this? Only in arsenal will u find a wantaway captain,a player who only came good after two seasons with us and now wants out because we r not big enough for his ambitions. Name one top club where u ll find average players like bendtner eboue diaby etc or complete useless players like denilson squillaci and almunia….how did we miss the clause in mata’s contract. He was ours for the taking for just 13million though it rises to 17million but who cares its mata for crying out loud…..

  40. oliver says:

hi rico…regardless of how one feels about the booing – and i suspect that the real targets were arsene and the club’s board, not the players – nobody can deny that the black cloud which has been hanging over our club is still present. these matches may have been friendlies, but everything i have heard suggests that most of the glaring problems from last season’s run-in are still evident…

  41. oliver says:

gs, i’ll bet we didn’t miss the clause…perhaps our club is happy to be linked, and run the clock down allowing this to pass without a transfer completed.

most of the top clubs go into the offseason having identified weaknesses and reasons to spend on new players. i am starting to think we (arsene) approach these periods with a mind-set of not spending…

  42. oliver says:

anyways, the fee is still not prohibitive, so perhaps we will do some business. if a mata transfer is contingent on completing a cesc transfer, however, i am not confident we will sign the former. the way i see it, we either remain at loggerheads with barcelona or cave in and sell him for a lower price. i think this is where barcelona wants the situation to be…

  43. Adam says:

Hi Rico. Fresh from sorting the US economic crisis it does appear as if Myles Palmer has predicted 3 signings this week. It makes total sense but since when has that been any indication where Arsene is concerned? Don’t forget that we are a poor club who exist on sweat.

  44. goonerstan says:

Then we are in big trouble then oliver….imagine losing TV5 to an injury that means squillaci gets to sit on the bench….say big johan gets a straight red card and misses three matches and say those matches are against manure barca and the spuds who’s to partner koshieny? Squillacci??? Lord give me strength.

  45. Mr islington says:

Mata deal off-due to NO PAYMENT!!! WTF

There was me getting all worked up and thought we were buying a quality player and how much of a coup it was for the club.

Why do i do this to myself everytime!

  46. rico says:

stan, that is just what a few have been saying here for a while, we now have 4 weeks left of a four month transfer window and what have we done to show the football world that we mean business this season….

  47. oliver says:

gs, i won’t argue the point that we need credible experience in several positions. but we can already see some warning signs that no more transfer activity is forthcoming…what if jack’s ankle is actually worse than people are letting on? and he misses not only benfica and the netherlands friendlies, but is not ready for newcastle and beyond?

talking defence, jd has not played consistently well since the beginning of the calendar year; i am concerned about him, as i am with chamakh, who at the moment, looks absolutely hopeless. i know it is still pre-season, but i don’t think it unreasonable to expect both of them to play better than they did at during the second half of last season…going on current form, i think we will have problems if either tv or kos gets hurt/suspended.

  48. Wayne says:

The reason why we lose players like Mata is because Wenger is so stingy. We may even lose out on Cahill as Villa have now gone for him and can get him cheap due to a clause in his contract that villa can get him back for a lot less. Wenger needs to pay 28 million for Mata and sign Jagielka and Cahill. We will get 35 million for Fanrigas and 20 million for Nasri who will go for sure. So there’s 55 million on top of the money we supposed to have had. So we should have enough for Mata, Jagielka and Cahill or Samba. But I bet we will lose out on all of them if we are not careful. Spursnare supposed to be the yids not us but it seems we are tighter than them. Please Wenger do something or go. We don’t want another season without nothing. I don’t think we will even get a champions league spot next year.

  49. rico says:

oliver – i’m sure the boos were towards wenger and the board too and not the players thankfully…

JD is still not the JD he was prior to his injury, we still lack the final killer instinct towards and upon goal and our defence, well no changes with the way we concede…..

    same old indeed…..

  50. Adam says:

Looks like Stan Kroenke will be able to stick a few quid in his sky rocket at the end of this transfer window. One does have to wonder about the cynicism behind the season ticket rise.

  51. rico says:

Adam, i think there is more chance of the hot place freezing over than us signing three players….

Hi Mr Is, I did warn you 😉 😉

  52. Adam says:

Rico. I shall remind you of that comment the the end of the week. Don’t you realize how hard Arsene and Ivan have been working for the past 8 weeks. Poor old Arsene eh? He’s feeling dizzy and he’s still only on 6 mil a year. Who’d swap places with him? Poor sod.

  53. Mr islington says:

How anyone can be happy with whats going on at our club must be mad,i aint no glory hunting supporter and i aint just one of those plastic arm chair fans,i love Arsenal……But at the moment we are acting like a second rate club.

I feel like im watching a dvd on repeat and it only gets worse,
Where has our Arsenal gone, something has changed big time!

  54. rico says:

Welcome Wayne, can’t disagree with anything you have written except Cahill and Samba for me 😉

But, all the time we get linked to players with stories like the Mata and Alavarez ones is wenger can say ‘ i tried hard to get the player but……

  55. rico says:

Hi AK, its good cricket by England Bresnan missed out on a hat-trick….

Adam, ok, you remind me 😉 and yes, i’d swap places in a flash, HH would be a very happy place then.. 🙂

  56. rico says:

Mr Is, your last comment is spot on, i don’t get why or what has changed so drastically…….

i know we haven’t got masses of money but we don’t mneed to spend masses, anyway, if the club can afford to lose £20 million in the Nasri saga, they can’t be that hard up…..

  57. Mr islington says:

Yh lose £20 million on the prick, while he just sits there and holds the club to ransom…Nasri is a dirty rat and i cant wait too see the back of him.

  58. Adam says:

You’ll never make an Arsenal manager Rico. You are nowhere near mad enough. When I am sitting here thinking that Joey Barton on a free might be a decent idea then you know how low we are in danger of sinking. Sad really. But the coldest part of the day is just before dawn….apparently.

  59. rico says:

That’s what i don’t get – how can we afford to do that?? Sell him and I don’t care who too…..

That money would pay for Mata and his wages would be a lot less…..

  60. allezkev says:

Personally, i think we could be debating the departures of Cesc/Nasri, right up to and beyond the start of the season.
I suspect that both Barca [in particular] and ManCity hope AFC get pissed off waiting for a deal, and decide to sell them at a relatively knock-down price.
Personally, i don’t care if it goes all the way up to 23.59 on August 31st, as long as AFC get a fair value for two of the best midfielders around.

  61. Wayne says:

It’s on Sky sports news about Mata. Looks like deal is dead and buried now as Wenger will not part with 28 million for him.

  62. allezkev says:

Mr Is, didn’t Balague assure us yesterday that it was a ‘done deal’..?
Where does he get his info from?
Wasn’t he the wanker that spent about 5 years telling us that Patrick Vieira was going to sign for Real Madrid???
And where did Big Pat go? Juventus..!
    Yep, balague knows ‘jack shit’.
Don’t get sucked in by these wankers guys, they’re all scum, and they’re fcukin with your head.

  63. rico says:

    😆 Adam….

A few people are question the Balague story from today, and suggestion is the buy out clause price relates only to Spain…

  64. rico says:

kev – reports suggest that Barca have until Friday otherwise no deal will be done, 36M is supposed to be their latest bid?? How true that is i don’t know…

  65. allezkev says:

Gotta say, i thought Rosicky had a good game yesterday.
I know a lot of Gooners suggested he should be part of a clear-out, but as he’s on the last year of his contract and really has no saleable value, i reckon he can do a job for us for a season.

  66. rico says:

50/60 minutes Kev, that was the best he’d played in years, shooting, passing and his free kick was inch perfect…. He even got stuck in with the tackles… Totally agree with you..

    He’s like a new signing 😉 😉

  67. allezkev says:

Well Rico, i hope it’s AFC getting tough with those Catalan scumbags.
And if Cesc doesn’t like it. Then tough!

  68. allezkev says:

I still maintain that Wenger will bring in a couple of decent signings.
And if i am wrong, you have my permission to all come on here and give me darned good verbal thrashing.. 😀

  69. allezkev says:

Mr Is. You don’t rate Jarvis then?
I thought he looked quite good when we played Wolves last season.
not sure there’s any legs in the rumour, but he seemed decent to me.

  70. rico says:

I think they are just trying to get Barca to wake up and get the deal done, wenger knows cesc has gone already in his head but if he really is waiting for the money from the deal before he spends on us then he needs that deal done……..

😆 re TV, you can hear him now can’t you…. Dann is the latest linked defender story to gather pace….

  71. rico says:

I am first in the queue to give you the verbal spanking kev 😉

    Tendulka gone, 107 – 7. 2-0 not far away 🙂

  72. allezkev says:

Gotta say Rico, why does a club like Arsenal, need to sell, to buy..?
I can understand all the guys’ frustrations on here. I share them too.
And it does really piss me off, that AFC seem to want to hang on & sell before they buy…

  73. rico says:

Agree kev, like i say we can’t be that hard up if we can afford to lose 20million – nasri would have signed by now if he wanted to stay, he wants more money – sell him….

It goes from frustration to anger, a club like ours should be acting in such a way….. where’s the ambition gone…..

  74. rico says:

    Cesc = 35 Million
    Nasri = 20 million

jeez, that would get us Samba, Cahill, Parker and Mata wouldn’t it??

  75. allezkev says:

Glad he got his ton. A great player.
    Now lets finish the job…
Reckon we’ll win the series 3-0 Rico.

  76. rico says:

He didn’t kev, india were 107 – 7 when he got out, they are now 125 – 7….

    Tendulka got 53 😆

  77. allezkev says:

To be honest, i’d take a bit of a hit in selling Nasri.
Losing him on a Bosman in 12 months time would be a monster hit!
But we have to play hard-ball on Cesc.
Nasri/Mata, you’re swapping like for like, and if the finances are similar, just do the bloody deal and be done with it.
But even with Gervinho it was a long protacted affair, they do love to drag out the agony…

  78. rico says:

Mata is suggested to earn £30K a week Kev, we could double his wage and it would still be less than Nasri, we’d save out….

I don’t get why it all takes so long, i wish sometimes Wenger would be more like Fergie 😉

  79. rico says:

Talking nurse duties, i’m off on them a bit earlier tonight – got to cook tonight 😉

    8 down 😆

  80. allezkev says:

So now we’re being linked to Dann again…..
As long as it’s not Distin/Distan/Disten, whatever.
Now i would not be impressed with that!

  81. allezkev says:

Yeah, you have to hand it to Fergie, he did his business before Cittie poked their hooter in.
Not sure he’s gonna get Snieder though…

  82. rico says:

😛 kev, don’t say that, in case wenger is reading 😉

Bet Fergie get Wesley in the end Kev

Back a bit later guys, off to play Nurse Chef 😉

  83. Lee says:

Hola amigos…..managed to get on to HH briefly whilst away…..missed the banter guys/gals!! Sorry to hear about mum Rico, send her my best wishes! Nasri, captain WTF? AK, off for a post holiday ruby….will be back shortly!! 🙂 🙂 🙂

  84. stevepalmer1 says:

    Evening all,
    Thanks for you help rico,
I know you guys are a bit browned off but the window has still got some way to go, everybody is all getting worked up over paper talk, even the players that are supposedly linked to us has not been confirmed so wait patiently and don’t get wound up over little snippets of information that has not been confirmed, Every paper in this country and some from oversea’s love nothing better than to try and turn Arsenal supporters against Wenger, and you know it every fucking year Barcelona do the same trick, look if they want him cough up the forty mill and he’s yours if not fuck off, nasri if you dont sign, you will just have to stay, a contract has to be honoured and you can not sell him if he doesn’t want to go, if he has a club that want him and he wants to go then then pay the fucking mo ney and piss off. Wenger will tell you if we buy some one, he still has time and if he doesn’t thats the time to moan

  85. Lee says:

Steve…nail on head mate! This is how much he is, pay the price or fuck off and do one! As for nasri, £110k per wk is the (alleged) offer if it’s a no from you….see ya later, go and join the cast from el cid at shitty!!

  86. stevepalmer1 says:

Hi Lee, how ya doing mate,
from what i saw at the weekend apart from not winning a game, i was fairly pleased with young jenkinson, and Gervinho Trayore also looked good Bartly, and we still have Lansbury afobe didn’t look that bad from what i saw of him, No Diarby no Denilson no Bendtner and no Almunia have we improved by leaps and bounds, what do some supporters want, Wenger has said he will shore up the back, and i believe he will

  87. stevepalmer1 says:

People can sit in the Emirates and they can boo, are they fans or glory hunters, young talent comeing through exactly what Wenger said, and by what i have seen of the Asian tour and the Ems Cup these youngsters are about to hit the big time,, and what do they hear from so called supporters, Boo’s fuck me. Give them your support for fucks sake, or go and boo down the Lane.

  88. stevepalmer1 says:

He’s trying to build a team for future years and he’s on the brink of it and they boo, shame on you, wankers

  89. Lee says:

All good Steve, it’s just we’ve been crying out for a tall, hard bastard of an organiser at CB for ages and we get squill & kos ( who I think will be an asset) why the faffing about? Just pay the price and get em bedded in! This team is close…..

  90. Lee says:

Agree re building for future but it’s been 6 yrs now and if he’d dipped his hand in the AFC sky rocket and tempered the squad with some experience at CB we’d of definitely won something!!

  91. Lee says:

Good quality time with the family AK but got dragged to watch the Boca game….only Em’s cup but seems nothin been learnt from last few seasons!!!

  92. allezkev says:

Hmmmmm, chicken Ceylon, sounds just the ticket Lee.
My lot are going away for a week, so i’m gonna have a couple of rubies when they’ve buggered off. Haha, it’s all mine…..

  93. stevepalmer1 says:

Hi Will, so close Will i can feel it in my water, AW knows it too and i stick by what i have said before he will get us our man, he nay not be who we think but he;ll get him

  94. allezkev says:

I don’t know Lee, i thought there was quite a few positives from both games and remember we had 3 stone-wall penalties turned down by our useless officials.
Nevermind the Press always going on about the red cards we get, they wanna look at all the pens we don’t get…

  95. Lee says:

Officials & press can all do one…. they’re too busy blowing smoke up the arses of man fa or fifalona!!

  96. rico says:

    Evening fine folk…

Steve, it’s me who needs to thank you… 🙂

Lee, good to have you back and thanks for the best wishes…..

  97. stevepalmer1 says:

All i keep hearing is six years Chelse went forty spuds Forty years so far Man city forever and us six years. the league i’m talking about and remember the others and no one says a fucking word about the others. and the boo us.

  98. rico says:

Thats because they hate us Steve……

I just hope that we have a squad that will fight for everything…… If they do that and we don’t win anything then hey ho, but stroll around for 90 mins, that hurts…..

  99. stevepalmer1 says:

Your run down girl Large Brandy and an early night on your own works everytime for me but the old woman keeps pestering

  100. rico says:

I hate the stuff Steve 🙁 Def going to have an early night though and i can’t wait to hit the pillow…..

😆 re your dear Lady wife …..

  101. stevepalmer1 says:

Thats me done, had a hard one today, so am taking my own advice, thanks for all your comments and Nighty night. Booing i can’t take that in!!!

  102. allezkev says:

    More to the point……….
England go 2-0 up against India.
    Shrek….. You can run, but you can’t hide… 😀
    Now Shrek, where are ya???

  103. allezkev says:

Not yet mate. Gonna have a couple of takeaways this week, while my mob are away.
So, how do you think things are developing this summer?
    Are you suprised??
Or is it how you expected???
And what do you think AW has to do to make you more encouraged about the coming season????

  104. W.A.T.H says:

Yeh the cricket was quite entertaining actually…! Nice to see bowlers showing a bit of aggression and wanting to get the job done…! In for the kill…. Now to get the next test won and we go top of the rankings, would be nice for us to be good at something for a change.

  105. W.A.T.H says:

Ah a ruby or two take aways…… don’t forget the bog roll in the freezer……

So far a pretty disappointing summer mate, nothing much new at all, we have youngsters with potential but we knew that, we’re pretty good going forward we knew that too, we still don’t kill teams off cos of the tippy tappy pretty football and we knew that but worst of all we’re still terrible defensively and we all knew that too…!

Am I surprised nope, is it what I expected, wasn’t to sure to be honest I thought the yank would of wanted the fans onside and to do that we need to buy the right players and I wanted us to show some ambition and intent in the transfer market but as yet its been same shit different transfer window………. Thats how it is mate, thats how I see it, no hysterical ravings no wanting 300million spent on players just as I see it and if we stay like this then I can see us battling to be n the top 5/6 !!

  106. allezkev says:

    Fair enough mate.
I know exactly where you are coming from, and i know that your views aren’t coloured by the bile we get in the Press and Media.

I have to say, as no doubt you’ve read from me recently, that i still think that Wenger vwill bring in a couple of good players.

Now that may not be enough from your perspective, and i respect your view. But i think that it should be enough to keep us in the top four and seriously challenge for a trophy.

  107. allezkev says:

I just wish, that someone at the club, would have the balls to say to Wenger “Give me a list of who you want, and now go away and leave it to me to sign them”…

  108. allezkev says:

Tell ya what mate, i’m feeling a bit knackered, so i’m gonna sign off as well.
See ya Wath, talk tomorrow… 😉

  109. W.A.T.H says:

You and I have spoken enough to know where we both come from, It’s not about the 5/6 yrs without a trophy at all it’s about the fact we been lied to and wenger is a part of all those lies and spin he gets paid a fortune to manage and due to the money we pay the expectations are far far higher than they ever used to be, ppl want value for money, they want to see the assets on the pitch not in the pockets of the board or in the bank they want to see our team compete and be in with a chance of winning things and yet wenger has for to many years now made the same mistakes over and over and nothing has been done because they were his players he brought in and overpaid and had total faith in and they have no doubt let him down but that means he was wrong and we all know he doesnt do “he was wrong” so now we need far more to put things right than in the previous years maybe I dont know I dont get paid 6mil to answer that mate but I think we are 3 very good players away from being competative thats all and I also think the 4123212 formation is a crock of shit as well, 442 for the prem league and in europe a 433 seems to work, end this zonal marking shit as we are useless, go man for man and get in a proper coach to work with the defence.

  110. W.A.T.H says:

Totally agree with your list, not for wenger to worry about amounts he should give a list to Gazidis in order of priority and tell him there you go pls get me those players and if they too expensive gazidis says sorry arsene 1&3 on the list far to expensive but I got you 2,4,5 and 6 on your list hope thats ok…!

  111. allezkev says:

Wish you’d brought this up last night when i was rabbiting like Bugs Bunny.
Now i’m done in. BUT, we will continue this tomorrow.
A good discussion in the offing, nite mate…
