Massive boost ahead of City fixture. Nearly the perfect weekend for Arsenal.

Morning all.

Sometimes one just have to sit back, enjoy football and smile whilst watching other matches, or just catching the updates on the web.

Chelsea v City kicked it all off, literally. Two red cards towards the end of their match against Chelsea means both Aguero and Fernandinho will be missing for the fixture against us. Nice. Shame the game didn’t end all even though.

Up next was the 3pm kick offs which regardless of the results, didn’t really have any impact on the places at the top of the league, well, apart from the noisy neighbours winning 5-0. Darn!

Then of course came the evening match and having seen Chelsea win, we really needed to follow suit and that’s exactly what we did. In style too in the second half.

If that wasn’t good enough then onto yesterday. Liverpool travelled to Bournemouth and it wasn’t long before they went 2-0 up. A Bournemouth penalty was followed by another goal for the away side and the game looked over. Oh no it wasn’t thought Eddie Howe in typical pantomime fashion when barking his instructions at halftime, then sat back and watched his players nick a 4-3 victory just before the final whistle blew. I was nearly as happy seeing that result as I was ours. I hate the Dippers with a passion, and love Jack Wilshere for being part of their loss.

The final game was Everton against Man Utd, another team I really don’t like. Utd I mean, not Everton. A nasty game played the by the visitors and when Gary Neville says Utd were lucky not to have had two players sent off, it has to be true.. So when Mourinho brought on Fellani in attempt to protect their 1-0 score line, how funny was it to see him give away a penalty which ensured the points were shared…

A fine weekend all round I’d say…..

Hah I remember how last season against Barcelona Flam came on and whacked a player conceding a penalty, atleast for us Flamini is now a billionaire playing for fun far away from the Ems. They are stuck with Fellaini, who is a damn ugly/rough player. Am enjoying their downward spiral.

I like how the dippers defence have been figured out, long may their opponents exploit them.

  2. George says:

that is a spot on post Rico…

We just have to keep picking up points…Chelsea are looking strong , but will have their bad patch at some stage im sure. We just have to keep playing our in form 11 , regardless of transfer fee…

Marshall , re Flamini , thats hilarious …

  3. rico says:

    Thanks George..

I’m not convinced Chelsea will dip, they look good but I guess at some stage someone will learn how to beat Conte’s system. Maybe it’ll be Arsene… lol

Morning all. Isn’t it funny how I can look forward to Sunday’s matches after a thumping Arsenal win, but after a Saturday defeat I cant force myself to watch! I envy neutral football fans sometimes, but then, they never have the highs to go with the lows. My 30 year-old daughter was round Saturday evening and I so nearly hit her in the face as I leapt up and across sofa across arms raised when Sanchez got his 3rd. Moments like that, it seems worthwhile being an Arsenal fan.

  5. Marshall says:

I never fancied Fellaini, Barkley was one player I was looking at since he started as Everton. Something hasn’t worked right for him this season.

    Thanks George.

  6. Solomon Erem says:

All What happened to our opponents just shows how at some point any side is bound to falter. Pretty sure Chelsea’s soon too, so we just need to keep picking up points and continue praying and hoping that our bad patch is way behind us.

    morning all

Anyone else heard that out of favour Fabregas is being lined up for a return in January as Santi is completely crocked.

Aquerro might get more than a three game ban according to some pundits.

All and all a pretty good weekend for us and talking about keepers I wonder if Pep made the right decision over Hart.

  8. Obi says:

    Hello All:
Here is something for AW out guys. Interesting development yesterday with the NFL team owned by Stan, LA Rams. A lot of former players and fans are calling for the head coach/ manager to be let go because he has not had a winning record in 5 years and things got kind of ugly this weekend. But to everyone surprise, Stan secretly gave the guy a contract renewal in the off season (about 6 months ago) for 2 more years but no one knew. Maybe and just maybe AW has been walking around with an extension that no one knows about? Just a thought.

  9. rico says:

Yes Kelsey, that one did the rounds yesterday. Can’t see any truth in it though..

At least a 4 match ban for Aguero is expected according to SS’s..

  10. Obi says:

Marshall re Gabriel tracking back. I am glad some one noticed, his transition defense is excellent and he really narrows the width.

Re: Fellani, he would have been a different player at Arsenal. Fellani was a hard player at Everton but but not dirty, and a better player. At MU they just want him to be dirty.

  11. Le Coq Monster says:

    Thanks Rico.

Not surprised to see more rumours ( most bad) about Ozil and Alexis contracts doing the rounds after an emphatic win !…………….one that Pep has personally phoned Alexis…………..one that we wont break £200k per week ceiling……………..listen, we could easily give what they want and if it seems to much then get rid of some deadwood ( haven`t used that term in a while since we got rid of most of them 🙂 ) as there must be some still at the club and use their wage savings to pay more two our two superstars !…………..fcuking simple !…………………..straight away a saving of £100 per week on Sanogo !

  12. allezkev says:

    Afternoon All…

Fellani seriously needs a haircut, somebody should tell him how daft he looks…

    Afternoon Rico, good post.

  13. Le Coq Monster says:

Not sure Rico………………..lets ask Kelsey as he seems more in the know than most on our financial goings on !…………………hey Kelsey !…….is Sanogo robbing us of £100 or less per week ?

  14. Marshall says:

Obi, I was really impressed by him(Gabriel) he stayed with his man. Made sure there was not avene for westham on the right wing. Seems like simple defending for me, track the runners, nullify the threat.

I hope we stay thereabouts on top of the table, and our rivals drop points on the second leg of the season come next year.

  15. Obi says:

When we got Gabriele and for the price we got him for I was escastic because I saw him as another coup by AW, like Kos. At Villarreal he was fearless and an outstanding defender. From his body of work at Villarreal yes he’s a better defender than Bellerin, but Bellerin is more of a complete player.

  16. Le Coq Monster says:

Sanogo on £30k per week !!!………….you know what !…………….If I was Wenger, I would go up to Alexis and say ………..”Come with me Alexis, I have Sanogo tied up in the back of my car and to show our appreciation of your fine performances of carrying our team through some awkward times and as a taster for what`s to come, we will drive to Totnumb and bury him in the concrete foundations of The Sainsbury Stadium and his wages will be yours !………..we can stop off and get Jenkinson too if you like !”

  17. Obi says:

LC, I really cannot believe Sonogo is ONLY on 30k per week!!! It’s a travesty.

Btw, an interesting tidbit; remember how West Ham Director said that they wanted Carlos Bacca badly and offered him a lot of money but he rejected because he only wants Arsenal. There are stories out that that after Becca pulled off the stunt of going back to Seville to train with his former team when inter had him officially listed as injured, they contacted Arsenal about a transfer. Now imagine Sanchez playing with the Columbia, and Sonogo coming off the bench (for now). LC, doesn’t that reminds you of Henry, Bergkamp, and Kanu………

  18. kelsey says:

I have no doubt AW was offered this new contract in March but is sitting on it.

Arsenal pair Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil are reportedly both demanding new contracts worth a staggering £290,000-a-week in order to commit their future..

According to the Evening Standard, talks have ground to a halt again as the star duo want to be paid in line with the biggest names in the Premier League.

That would involve going from around £140,000-a-week which is what they currently earn up to £290,000-a-week, which in turn would place them alongside the likes of Paul Pogba at Manchester United.

With just 18 months remaining on both their contracts, this is the last thing that Arsenal supporters will want to hear as it will only lead to further anxiousness over whether or not they’ll commit their futures.

As seen in the 5-1 win over West Ham United on Saturday, Sanchez and Ozil are crucial parts of Arsene Wenger’s side as they push for silverware this season, and an inability to match their ambition and financial requests will not go down well with fans.

It’s claimed in the report that Arsenal are willing to go up to £200,000-a-week for the pair, but that isn’t going to be enough to satisfy them as they are looking for the club to scrap their wage structure and pay them the kind of money their European counterparts are receiving.

The longer the delay goes on, the more concerning it will become for all involved in the situation. Naturally, Arsenal will not want to lose their big names and neither Sanchez nor Ozil will want to leave north London given the progress they’re making and how settled they are.

In turn, Arsenal fans will hope that a compromise is reached in negotiations, but it looks as though the respective parties will be far away when they next sit down at the table as the club look to follow up the success of convincing Hector Bellerin to pen a new deal and commit his future last month.

  19. Alex says:

    Good Afternoon
    Please leave Sanogo alone.
You do not have any basis to say anything on him…..pure hate .

The likes of Walcott are the one who are bleeding the club.
    140 k x 4 =560 k/M for what ???????

Is being given a decade to accomplish himself and what you see week in and out is just a headless runs.

When was Sanogo given run time to merit all this nonsense talk.

    Cheeers

  20. kelsey says:

Quite right Alex but I feel groundhog day will happen again and Sanchez will be off.We need to build a team with him and Ozil and Kos by adding a couple of similar quality.

  21. Le Coq Monster says:

    Hahaha Obi !

Lads lads lads !…………………………..it`s not about Theo or Yaya……it`s about our best two players and keeping them !………as much as I love Theo, if it meant terminating his contract and life to give Alexis and Mesut more money then so be it !

And Alex, I dont hate Yaya !………I like postmen……my dog likes postmen !……….anyway, where the fcuk is he ?………..it seems so long since he last played I`ve forgotton what he does or what position he plays in ?……….is he an Alexis type player ?…………..is he alive ?………..would we be top if he was fit ?………..so many questions !………….Rico , can we have a votey pollie sort of thingy on Yaya ? 🙂

  22. rico says:

I don’t understand re Sanogo, how can his critics be bashed for bashing him but those who defend have seen him play once or twice…. odd….

  23. Le Coq Monster says:

If we go by wage per game played then Yaya is probably our highest paid player since Diaby left !. 🙂

  24. Le Coq Monster says:

Mmmmm let me think………………….after a long thought out process where 99% of the questions where too adult in content I thought of a basic………………………………………..is he worthy of an Arsenal contract or a percentage chart of how rubbish is he ? 🙂

  25. Le Coq Monster says:

Obviously their manager should have gone to the Swiss version of Specsavers !………………………I actually think we will beat them with a full team, but the consequences of an extra game will not benefit us against Stoke……………… a weakened team will possibly lose, but will be better for our Stoke game ala our EFL game against Saints.
Problem is some 1st choices will probably have to start as our CL squad wont allow a complete youth team !……………….could be Jenkinsons last game before he is terminated to save money for Alexil or is it Oziz !…………………..he`s a Gooner though so should give his life for the good of the club ! 🙂

  26. Le Coq Monster says:

    Not soon enough ! hahaha

If his contract is too long then lets get a contract out on him ! hahaha

After watching Aguero`s tackle on Luiz I think he could do a good job on Sanogo………..he aint doing anything for a few weeks, it should cure his boredom !.

  27. Lee says:

Yeah leave off of Sanogo, he’s going to be a £50m player!

Not as long as he has a hole in his arse….woefully bad player.

We need to reapportion some of the salaries that are being stolen by crap players and reward Sanchez & Ozil.

  28. allezkev says:

I am not comfortable with the prospect of paying a footballer £200k per week….

I don’t really care what a Paul Pogba is on, is he value for money?
Inwould say no, I think that Pogba is one of the most overrated players I have ever seen.
    Is he a game changer?
    I think not….

I want Ozil and Alexis to stay, but if £30,000 per day isn’t enough for them to play football for us, then frankly they can fcuk off…

These guys need a reality check, they really are living in a fcuking bubble of greed and self-indulgence…

Personally the whole thing makes me sick….

    As for Sanogo, £30,000 per week for a lumbering Hackney Marshes type fridge-freezer centre-forward…. It’s a joke…

So please don’t tell me to feel sorry for him and leave him alone, as he’s stolen a nice living since coming to England and will certainly have the last laugh when he retires and can look at a bank balance that most of us can only dream of…

  29. Obi says:

Rico: I have seen Sonogo play several times on the youth level. Actually on the FIFA youth world cup winning team with Pogba, Thauvin, Zouma, Umtiti and Kondogbia; Yaya was arguable their best player. He scored all the goals.

I think 30k a week is insignificant investment in today’s football to see how he will be if injury free. The talent is there.

  30. rico says:

Kev, football and its salaries has gone mad, I think it stinks but it is what it is. We have to keep them both and to be honest, I really don’t think there’s much truth in the stuff relating to Pogba…

  31. Micko says:

Nite rico, got a funny feeling some folks on here will be eating humble pie when Paul Pogba walks away with the Salon d’Or later this season…..

Preston away, I’d like to think we’re favourites even with the wind and sleet blowing in our faces, kinda day where Sanchez will have a stinker in his gloves and Kozzer will pop up and score the winner in the dying minutes lol.

  32. Marshall says:

We are talking about keeping Sanchez and Ozil and yet Sanogo pops up. Talk of one step forward and two back! If Sanogo is as good as his fans say he is, why isn’t he even in our youth team? Why did he flop in Ajax and they practically called him shit? He might be good for a relegation fighting team but no Arsenal quality. Never will be.

  33. Marshall says:

    Oh hi, Morning all.

I hate when such a player occupy a place where someone better could be and nicking a living! What has he done this season to warrant a penny. He didn’t even feature in the cups. It’s obvious Sanogo is finished.

  34. tsgh says:

Damn, the moment Rico and Scott admitted they backed the wrong horse in Fellani… I couldn’t just be a voyeur… 😛

    Good morning Rico and all…

I don’t know what keeps happening to me but over the last 2 seasons’ anytime I attend an away game I come back with a nasty cold…

I still haven’t recovered from my trip to Manchester or is it Old Trafford? 😉

  35. tsgh says:

Obi- over the summer apparently it was bacca’s EU passport issue that prevented us from signing him…

He will probably end up at Psg if one of the non-EU players end up leaving

  36. tsgh says:

    🙂 Rico.

Obi- you know Bacca is in reality older than 29 y.o… I read he got his birth certificate from the same dude who issued Kanu’s… 😉

  37. rico says:

I’d eat my hat if AW paid £20 odd million for a player of Bacca’s age. Mind you, Fergie did just that with RvP and look what happened…

  38. tsgh says:

Agreed Rico. I think Bacca still has 2 ‘solid’ years ahead of him…;if he had played in the EPL in the past I wouldn’t hesitate at all; but he is definitely not 29 y.o ; more like 35/36 y.o; so without EU passport he is not very attractive to most top teams in my view.

I recall reading a few weeks back that AW told Galliani, he will consider a loan move only if A.C were interested…
