Morning all.
New signings are meant to be exciting but these days it’s more of a case of, “ok, who’s next”?That’s not say I’m not pleased Arsenal are bolstering the squad but because this, like every other transfer made these days, has been talked about many times long before the player pops up on Arsenal.com.
Manager Mikel Arteta:
We’re all so happy to welcome Noni Madueke to the team. Noni is an exciting and powerful young player, with his performances and numbers in recent seasons being of consistently high quality. He is one of the most talented wide forward players in the Premier League. At just 23, Noni already brings experience of club and international football, and he knows the Premier League very well. Having seen the quality of Noni’s performances up close in recent seasons, we’re really excited he is joining us.
Our new winger will wear the number 20 kit.
An interesting stat for you.
Matheus Cunha | 3.8 |
Cole Palmer | 3.6 |
Erling Haaland | 3.6 |
Noni Madueke | 3.5 |
Eberechi Eze | 3.5 |
So, if Arsenal sign Eze as well, we’ll have two of last seasons top five players in the league for shooting in one squad. Some days, in the same team. Factor in the anticipated arrival of Viktor Gyokeres and we might just see a lot more efforts on goal during a game which should in theory, translate into more goals scored.
Sky Sports have compared Noni with Kudus of West Ham who Totts are trying to sign.

Anyway, as suggested before, what Madueke has done before matters not really because it’s what he does for Arsenal which is more important. Same goes for every other player joining the club this summer.
At the moment, Fabio Vieira, Sambi Lokonga, Karl Hein and Reiss Nelson remain Arsenal players although logic alone suggests all four will be gone before the end of this transfer window because if Mikel Arteta didn’t need them last season when the squad was small, he’s not going to need them now.
So in theory, there is still room for Arsenal to make four more signings and that’s before the likes of Leandro Trossard and Oleksandr Zinchenko are considered for sale.
Two of those squad places are expected to be filled by Viktor Gyokeres, assuming a deal can be finalised, and defender Cristhian Mosquera. Talking of which, this photo was doing the rounds yesterday. Oops.
Anyway, as far as transfer numbers go, I think Arsenal have at least one morning signing in them at least. Maybe Eze, maybe someone totally different. We’ll just have to remain positive and patient.
Catch up in the comments.
Good morning Rico, with all these new arrivals and Nwaneri agreeing a new five year contract and Mosquera edging ever closer think we are well set for the coming season. Time now to relax prior to kick-off at eleven Wallabies vs The Lions first test.
Good morning Cicero.
I’m fascinated by this Noni deal because in theory, he’s not a player I thought we’d sign but, the more I watch clips of him, the more I think there’s a good player in him who just needs to be around the right people.
Just watching a rerun of Arsenal v Man Utd 1997. Platt’s header seems to get better every time I see it…
I think the five players signed thus far plus a cf are enough to push on & win something. Any extra in the form of our old boy Eze, Rodrygo or Hato are just icing.
That’s all our hope Liam. Just hope they can all make an instant impact and Arteta uses his squad well.
Reports today are that Sporting are now telling us that we need to cover the Solidarity Mechanism payments to Gyökeres’ developmental clubs. This after we’ve agreed a fee structure and the add ons.
These payments are always the selling clubs responsibility, Sporting know this and yet are still trying to extract every single last £ out of us.
Liam ,4 signed as of now.
Varandas has a history of being a disingenuous negotiator .He will prevaricate for as long as he can.
Half time Lions lead 17 – 5.
I hope we have a plan b for Gyokeres…
Yes Havertz and Merino , and some kid from up north.
That’s the game when Nicolas Anelka announced himself, I remember that game so much and that day for many different reasons.
Unfortunately Rico, afternoon to you, we are mainly responsible for the lack of buzz in transfers these days.
Social media sites, many full of BS flourish because we’re desperate for news and they’ll provide it whether it be factual or more likely fictional, just go on YouTube and see all the crap that comes up if you type in Arsenal transfer news, it’s pathetic, but it exists because we click on it.
You can’t put the genie back in the bottle so it’s going to continue to be as rare as hen’s teeth for us to go online and find a transfer signing for Arsenal and that it comes completely out of the blue!
Such is life…
Regarding Gyokeres and Sporting, we can just let the deal run on into August, they’ll need to raise finance to do business themselves and I don’t mind waiting as long as we get him. We know he wants us so softly softly catchee monkey…
In the end it’s the fault of the agent of Gyokeres, he should have got the verbal agreement in writing…
Good to see the British Lions win in Brisbane but I can’t get up for the Lions as I do when watching England.
Against the Wallabies, I can. Beating them in Brisbane was especially sweet as they haven’t lost there for some while.
Afternoon Kev, I agree. Bring back the old days I say but it’s never going to be…
I bet he tried Kev but no way would Sporting agree. Who with any sense would.
We could hear Cristhian Mosquera has signed today, especially if he’s to be on the tour of Asia.
Good afternoon Rico and all
Good post. Seems we have a world beater in Noni according to the numbers. Hopefully he will make me eat a humble pie…..and Arsenal gain a lot.
You could have announced Mosquera as well……..one of the pictures on the Madueke post showed Mosquera in the Arsenal photoshoot. A genuine mistake but which gave the cat away.
Afternoon Devil, yes, that particular photo is in the post..
Cristhian Mosquera is allegedly yet to be announced as an Arsenal player due to ‘issues’ relating to the defender’s medical.
Earlier this week, the Gunners were said to have agreed a deal with Valencia for the 21-year-old centre-back, who will join Mikel Arteta’s side for an initial fee of around £13m.

Mosquera bid farewell to Valencia a few days ago and was also seen arriving at an airport to catch a plane to North London, where he has agreed a long-term contract at the Emirates Stadium and was also seen arriving at an airport to catch a plane to North London, where he has agreed a long-term contract at the Emirates Stadium.
Following on from my earlier comment about ‘letting the deal run’ probably into next month it’s worth noting, that Sporting have spent €12.3m on signing 4 new players – no striker!
Unfortunately Sporting have sold a few as well, with 3 players bringing in some €34.87m, so I guess they can afford to wait?
According to Teamnewsandtix – via afcstuff – ‘issues’ arose during Mosquera’s Arsenal medical, and those complications must be sorted out before an announcement can be made.
The exact nature of those problems cannot be disclosed due to medical confidentiality reasons, but there is nothing to suggest that Mosquera’s transfer to Arsenal could be at the risk of collapse.
As a result, the 21-year-old should soon be confirmed as Arsenal’s fifth arrival of the summer window, following Madueke, Christian Norgaard, Martin Zubimendi and Kepa Arrizabalaga to North London.
Mosquera will leave Valencia having scored one goal in 90 appearances for Los Che, and he was involved in all but one of their La Liga games last season, only missing a 7-1 loss to Barcelona through suspension.
The 2004-born centre-back – who can also play as a right-back – was also involved in Spain’s Under-21 Euros campaign this summer, as La Roja lost to champions England in the quarter-finals.
Should Arsenal fans be worried by Mosquera ‘medical’
News of ‘issues’ arising in Mosquera’s medical may feel very Arsenal to Arsenal fans, whose team were ravaged by fitness problems in the 2024-25 season as they settled for silver in the Premier League yet again.
In classic Gunners fashion, it would be typical for a player who has never suffered a serious injury in his career to pick up a problem as soon as he arrives in North London, but his fitness record still speaks for itself.
If Arsenal are still confident that this unknown complication will be resolved, Gooners should be confident too, especially as Mosquera will certainly not be playing 90 minutes on a weekly basis.
Instead, the 21-year-old will be expected to act as William Saliba’s deputy during the 2025-26 season, while he can also cover for Gabriel Magalhaes at left centre-back and for Jurrien Timber and Ben White right-back.
It remains to be seen if Mosquera will join Arsenal on their pre-season tour of Asia, but he may have to wait until August to make his unofficial debut for the Gunners.
Sorry I mucked up my Poat a bit but here’s some more.
Arsenal have appeared to accidentally confirm the signing of Spanish defender Cristhian Mosquera from Valenicia as they put out an image of him in club kit among the pictures which went along with those announcing Noni Madueke’s arrival from Chelsea. The picture has since been deleted.
Considering that photo shoot, which I assume would have taken place after his medical, I think we can assume he’ll soon be confirmed..

I wouldn’t want to be Germanys number 6 😳🤐
Arteta has taken a nice mix of seniors, youngsters and players apparently surplus to requirements.
Maybe that’s the club saying that we aren’t giving any of our players away on the cheap anymore. If you want them you’ll have to pay a realistic fee of else jog on?
