Lyon swoop on? German striker hands Arsenal a huge boost & 39 and counting for the ladies….

Morning all..

It’s Bank Holiday here in the UK and the sun is shining – nice!

Lukas Podolski seems to be one of many Arsenal players who divides fans.

Personally, I like him. Yes he can go missing in games, we have a few like that but for his first season in a more physical league, I think he’s done well.

He’s been asked to play up front on his own because of Giroud’s suspension, something which I suspect was quite alien to him, yet he delivered a few crucial goals….

I’m glad he has no plans to move on….

I feel very comfortable and I am completely satisfied with my first year in England.

I have no intention to leave the club. Rumours are rumours and I cannot stop them.

His second season could turn out to be even better…..

Unlike Gervinho’s second season which has been pretty awful at times! He may have fancy footwork at times, he may even manage to dribble by ‘his man’, but after that his play has been very average. Despite nabbing a couple goals after he was finally given a chance by Arsene Wenger, it didn’t take long for the boss to plonk him straight back on the bench.

Those two goals and his nifty trickery may just be what he needed. Not to secure his place in our first eleven but for some other club and rumour is that Lyon want to tempt him back to France.

And funny enough, Arsene Wenger wants a player from Lyon.

That player is midfielder Clement Grenier.

We are following him, I like the intelligence of his play.

He has interesting qualities, if anyone, he reminds me of Nasri.

Hopefully that doesn’t mean the player only performs for half a season!

Finally, congratulations to the ladies, unlike the men, they know how to secure a trophy and yesterday they did just that again by beating Bristol 3-0 in the FA Cup…

That’s their 39th trophy, including twelve FA Cups….

That’s it for another day, hope it’s a good one….

    39 trophies????? Blimey.

They’ve got more balls than the men!!!!! 😆

    Good Morning Lady and Gentlemen.

Why not offer Gervinho, Squilli and Chamack to Lyon for Grenier??

  2. mmusalia says:

    morning all
in other news..i freaking hate the silly season..i keep promising myself i wont look at the transfer rumours ..but,….
    oh! n champions league place…im 1st

  3. devilgunner says:

Aulas said 31million. With a year left on his contract. he is funny aint he?

he could do well to fetch more than 12 million.

  4. devilgunner says:

yes Rico. I do not think that with a year left on his contract, Aulas would fetch 31 million for Grenier. As I said…..more than 12 million is a bonus.

Then again with Lyon in the champions lge (I think) the carrot of CL would not count in this case since Lyon are already there. However the lure of AFC might be tempting this time around.

  5. rico says:

I think Wath said a few days ago that this link to Grenier might have legs….

£8 million is the valuation in the papers devil 😉

  6. rico says:

Almunia is at Wembley today, I really hope he plays well and secures Watford a place in the PL. But on the other hand, it would be quite nice to see Ian Holloway back in the PL…

  7. devilgunner says:

yes I know lady. 8 million is good enough for buying the remainder of his contract. I went up to 12 for the simple reason that its the maximum any one can pay if there is a bidding war.

I liked what I saw of him. However…………keep in mind that he was going to be offloaded last summer. You cannot ask for 31 million for someone you clearly did not rate.

Maybe we can ask 20 million for Djourou, 15 million for Chamack. 25 million for Denilson.

The problem is that only a mug will pay above 5 million for any of the above.

  8. devilgunner says:

I think that faced with a straight choice between Cesc and Grenier, AW will still buy Grenier.

  9. the mighty karim says:

Grenier surely is a big player “in the making”, has been lyon’s best player for a couple of months and strikes 35 yards free kicks like Juninho used to…
I love lyon I love Arsenal, so whatever the outcome; i ll be happy

  10. rico says:

I know nothing about the player devil, so can’t comment..

I’d rather start a fresh though than have a player like Cesc back, Barcelona is still his home, Barcelona is still his boyhood club and his family still live in Barcelona too..

What’s changed since he left? Nothing imho but if it’s Pep, then let him go to BM..

  11. pryce says:

Morning all,I will like that grenier guy.if lyon wants to prove sturbon give them charmak gervinho.if they don’t agree add santos.

  12. ctoc nkem nwamama says:

Good morning all.I think wenger should just go for a big strker to help our goal scoring objective nd atleast new three players to comliment it

  13. gnarleygeorge9 says:

    rico

I am a fan of Podolski as well & German footie players in general. For me Podolski went missing more than any other player in the league coz he got substituted more than any other player, apparently 🙂

  14. W.A.T.H says:

Offer them Santos, Chamakh and Gervinho…. That’s enough to put anyone off of doing a deal…!

    Morning you lot…!

  15. ctoc nkem nwamama says:

y can’t wenger go for rooney nd oda hot prospect b4 d high spending team like madrid wil come in.

  16. ctoc nkem nwamama says:

D likes of lewandoski is der, messi, higuain, ronaldo,nd oda top players.y can’t we go dis players?

  17. devilgunner says:

I had an inkling you would say that WATH. lol. I think Aulas would shit in his pants if AW suggested it.

We would all be laughing hysterically if we got Grenier for Santos, Chamack and Gervinho.

  18. devilgunner says:

I still would like to see Rooney, Cesc, Gonalons, Williams and Cezar/Mignolet. That would be enough for me.

  19. Bradster says:

    Morning all,

Those ladies are damn impressive, well done to them.

I see Torres is for sales. A 10mil punt and his currently salary should be worth the risk. If we could get rid of Chamakh there’s most of his salary anyway.

Rooney will cost both a big transfer fee and extremely high salary. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him join PSG.

  20. devilgunner says:

Torres I would like also. I feel that AW will soon make him a top striker again.

If not Rooney then I would definitely go for Torres.

  21. devilgunner says:

Pity. It was great to see them win.

Unlike the men’s team they have balls. 😉 39 trophies are a testament to that.

  22. devilgunner says:

Oh yes I can MR Pryce. The ladies have got bigger balls than the men. Isnt that true Adam???

  23. rico says:

Pryce, first season, AA hit the ground running but went downhill….

Podolski deserves a second season in my opinion..

  24. Scott from Oz says:

    Good morning fellow Gooners.
Grenier looks half decent and out of left field…typical Arsene signing!!

  25. Bradster says:

I’m sure Chelsea will try and offload Torres to make space just like Man City did with Adebayour.

  26. Bradster says:

I’ve read Chelsea are prepared to accept 15-20mil for Torres. He’s playing so badly that no one will offer any where near 20mil. So I reckon an offer between 10-15mil will seal it and we have to pay around 150k a week unless he won’t mind a pay cut.

  27. Scott from Oz says:

Much has been said of the cash we have to spend, but could this actually work in our favour?
Rather than the value of no name players being inflated, we may actually have clubs falling over themselves to sell us bloody good players.
Torres and Rooney are the two obvious ones.
How many clubs can afford them and actually pay the cash right now??
    Not many, i would say.

  28. Scott from Oz says:

I wonder if Jose is going back to Chelski because he ran out of options…..i mean half decent ones.
He may have his tale between his legs this time around.

  29. rico says:

AW could have got Torres ages ago though, when Cesc was still with us, can’t see him even trying to sign him sadly…

Where did you read that Scott?

  30. devilgunner says:

    Hi Scott.

Mourinho will be a different animal this time around. He said he wants to build a club with young players and signing only one world class player to help them.

That means the chavs do not want to spend a lot like they did back in 2005.

Why not 25 million for Rooney? It’s good if its true.

    Hopefully it is.

  31. Long Suffering Gooner says:

Just what we need, more random players from Ligue 1 to help us win a trophy. Wenger must be taking the piss; first priority should be a bloody defensive midfielder. I’m going to lose my ish if Arteta and Ramsey are made to play there next season.

  32. Wavy says:

Have you noticed nearly every player with half a degree of class who plays up front has been ‘linked’ with Juventus? They can’t have them all!
Incidentally, where has all this new found wealth come from, in a league that is drowning in debt?
Mind you we, AW, was never in the hunt for Argee frenchman. All paper talk!

  33. rico says:

Hope he ruins another Chav side Stv..

Devil, I don’t believe that’s the way Jose will work at all…

Lsg, AW hasn’t signed this guy, he hasn’t signed anyone yet, the window isn’t open until July 1st, give the guy a chance… 😉

  34. Scott from Oz says:

Rico, sorry…..a mate on FB said the Metro are reporting it.
    I can’t vouch for it……just what i read 🙂
Devil, that makes sense, on Jose i mean.
I can’t see Roman letting him have free reign again….

  35. devilgunner says:

Its not the way he used to work Rico.

But Maureen is no mug. He knows that such buying will not be allowed again. Abramovich wants to hold his money back for now. That means that Maureen will have to work in certain parameters and before you know it he will have been chucked out like the rest of those who came after him and before him.

  36. Scott from Oz says:

Devil, yesterday you touched on FFP and the fact the clubs can’t increase wages by more an 4% each season.
Any chance you have a link to that rule mate……been discussing it with some Oz mates..

  37. rico says:

The Metro is less reliable than the Daily Mail Scott and that is awful 😉

Nice thought that devil… I hope he gets it totally wrong…

  38. Scott from Oz says:

Rico, i did add an lol at the end, because i knew it was speclative at best….you never know though 🙂

  39. stevepalmer1 says:

Afternoon all Nice one Rico.Transfer transfer transfer it seems that closed season is all about that. When you consider how bad we have performed all season bar the end dozen games i can understand people hoping we buy. Wenger still hasn’t shown who he wants and who he doesn’t want so i suppose it will be last minute again.lets face it when you look at our squad of players who would you change then think about it and ask who would Wenger change, lets face it were only looking for top four.

  40. rico says:

Thanks Sp, AW never does though. He’ll shock us with a couple of Frenchies, Spaniards or Africans I suspect ;)..

  41. stevepalmer1 says:

Ide wager we can’t pronounce the names and will never had heard of them but some things never change. 🙂

  42. rico says:

That’s me done for the day, off out to a party, crazy day to have it mind you….

    Catch you folks tomorrow….

  43. devilgunner says:

    Good evening Lady and Gentlemen.

For the benefit of those who did not see the goals………

  44. graham clarke says:

People like you ruined many a player not knowing what your looking at and leading the rabble he should move on to get away from the blind leading the blind who is the next player you bring down

  45. Micko says:

graham clarke, I’m sure I speak for everyone on HH when I say thankyou for your intellectual contribution, we’re not worthy !

  46. devilgunner says:

So Blogs ruin players Mr Clarke!!!! BLogs ruin players.

I thought I heard them all but this takes the biscuit.

People like you ruin the players……….with your molly coddling and closing your eyes.

Players are ruined yes…………by their own obscene wage packets, by their own attitude, by their own selfishness and by their own greed. and by idiots like you.

As Micko said……thank you for your intellectual contribution…we’re not worthy.

    Arriverderci……..al piu tardi possibile

  47. rico says:

You do leave some quality comments graham clarke….

    Morning all

Got to nip off first thing but back with a new post around 9.30….

  48. Lee says:

  49. devilgunner says:

    then we will be frying.
