Listen to Sir Bobby Mr Vardy! Götze heading to Arsenal?

Morning all.

There’s been a few odd results at the Euros so far. England only managing to earn a point from their match against Russia is up there with the biggest of surprises but Iceland achieving the same result against Portugal was a big shock. A country which consists of just 320 thousand people, managed to put an international team together and not only compete in the Euros for the first time, but match a Portuguese side which boasts a number of players who play for top clubs. Ronaldo being the biggest name on either team sheet but he was very very average to say the least, just as so many of the so called big players have been during the tournament so far.

His comments after the match were classless, what did expect from the Iceland players after they’d nicked a point from his side, a team expected to go far in the competition? They celebrated well, and rightly so. Get over yourself Mr Ego Man!,

Then last night, Slovakia only went and beat Russia which I personally loved. Two really good goals from the Slovaks, especially the second from Hakim, were enough to secure maximum points.

France left it late to secure maximum points in their match last night. Koscielny missed a glorious chance to head home his first goal of the tournament, Giroud too missed a few chances resulting in heavy criticism in the media this morning but France’s blushes were spared during the last few minutes of the game when both Antoine Griezmann Dimitri Payet made sure the hosts took maximum points from the match.

Granit Xhaka’s Swiss side could only manage a draw, a result which leaves their progression into the knockout stages hanging in the balance. I guess the good thing about them going out of the Euros if they do, is our new man will get a good rest before his first season in the Premier League.

Today is a big one for us British people as two old enemies go head to head. If Wales win, England are all but going home and if Wales lose, the group will be wide open with England sitting top. Kick-off is at 2pm.

Then just a few hours later, it’s the turn of Northern Ireland who take on Ukraine and the final match of the day should be a cracker as Germany take on Poland, which takes me nicely to the transfer gossip pages….

Today it’s all about how Arsenal are leading Liverpool in the race to sign Bayern Munich forward Mario Gotze. That’s according to The Sun.

Would Arsenal fans like to see him in an Arsenal shirt?

Finally, Sir Bobby has been talking about Jamie Vardy and according to The Mail, he’s said:

He has the ability, comes across as very hard-working which Arsenal like, and he’s a great finisher. There’s a lot more pressure with playing for a big club, so it will be a step up.

Apparently, Jose Mourinho has been sniffing around this potential deal but that’s no surprise is it……

Enjoy the footie today, Allez England…..

    Good Morning Lovelies and Hhunkies.

Good summary of the games so far boss……and I agree with Xhaka returning earlier. Le’t hope they go out.

If the English players are expecting Wales to roll over then they are in for a shock. It will be tough and form will have no bearing. Its like AFC vs the spuddies…..its a derby. and they will all be fired up for it.

Expect end to end stuff played at 100mph with players tearing into each other.

  2. Hell Raising Devil says:

with regards Gotze…..I prefer this order….Mkhitaryan, Mahrez, Gotze.

Yes I agree that Gotze could come as cheaper than the others, however the first two do not spend too much time on treatment table while Gotze is similar to Reus in that regard……so he is my third option.

Mkhitaryan is very much like Ozil and he can play in all advanced midfielder positions, right, left and centre. Mahrez is used to the EPL. Had Mahrez been European I would have gone for him first….being African he will go aWOL in January for ACON. plus Armenia rarely qualify to WC and EC so it will be a summer of rest for him.

  3. rico says:

I reckon you’re right Devil, end to end stuff and whichever defence is stronger will win the day but if England spurn the amount of chances as they did against Russia, they’ll lose.

I’d like to see Vardy start..

  4. rico says:

If Mkhitaryan’s agent is telling the truth, the player prefers a move to Utd who according to reports, have already made an offer for him but it’s been declined.

  5. Hell Raising Devil says:

tbh Rico…..I prefer every team which has an AFC player in it to loose and not qualify…..that makes it France, Germany, Switzerland, Czech Rep, Wales, England,. I want them to rest as much as possible. I did not include Spain as Bellerin will not play unless injuries force VDB to play him.

  6. rico says:

Me too Devil, although I’d like England to go far…

Off to walk the hound before it rains. Catch up in a short while…

  7. grimes says:

Forget Mikitharian and Götze and at last Girouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuud!
Go for Mahrez-Vardy- and complete with killer striker Slimani! Fire trio.

  8. Wavy says:

Agreed Devil. With Bellerin being on the bench he may well rest his bones but it would be interesting to see who is sitting to the left of him and who is sitting to his right! My money would be on him being flanked by two Barca players, dripping poison into his ears and surreptitiously checking out his DNA! Softly, softly catch ye full back. Every game he will have Barca vitriol dripped in to his juvenile ears and they’ll be playing with his head! The sooner Spain return home the better imo.

  9. tsgh says:

Good morning Rico, Dev and all,

I missed your excellently written and topical post yesterday Mr Kev…
I am glad you finally agree Morata is over rated. 😉

Akpom as Rick and I have talked about is not ready to be a striker. He will be an excellent rhs forward though.

  10. allezkev says:

Nothing was taken Wavy as they didn’t force the lock and thankfully they didn’t break it, but it’s not as if I’d leave anything of value in my boot anyway, but there you are, we aren’t dealing with rational people here.

I hope that they end up, on their Boris bikes, under the wheels of a dumper truck. It’s not as if humanity will be any the poorer for their demise…

Uncle Bob to replace Hogan-Howe is the way to go methinks…
    Morning Adam

  11. allezkev says:

Ginge, now would I ever, ever, disagree with you… ?

Morata is a good player and could develop into a very good player, but £51m is a joke, nobody is gonna pay that.
Actually a poor Euros could bring his price tumbling and then maybe a bid in the £30m region could snare him.

Akpom has pace, good control and could do a job on the flanks, but he is prolific enough to lead the attack.
Having said that, I hope he proves me wrong and turns into a fantastic striker…

  12. tsgh says:

Kev- ”Ginge, now would I ever, ever, disagree with you… ? ”

Hold on there Kev, I am not quite Bob or Uday Hussein; even though I know one person who will disagree. 😛

I agree totally with your assessment of Morata. In my view if he was playing for Hoffeinham (spelling) he will be £20m tops. B-52 during his days at Birmingham looked more promising imo…

    Still I will tempt WHU for Payet; £30m will do it…;
Shame Aw stopped shopping from Ligue Un after Gerwanko’s fortunes… Payet was there for the taking.
Ayew is still another player I rate who can play the false 9 superbly imho..

  13. allezkev says:

I’m working Rico, but I’ll listen to the game on the radio and if it’s a good game I could watch it on catch-up this evening…

  14. obi says:

    Hi All:
Ts even at 20m I will not pay for Morata I have watched nearly all his games with Juve he’s not worth it, atm and I really don’t see this “tremendous” potential people are talking about. Btw did anyone hear AW comments on Payet, something to the point of he has always tracked him and wanted to buy him but Payet has been so inconsistent in his career that he didnt buy him because at the position he plays at Arsenal his inconsistencies will leave him on the bench…. I guess Ramsey is the exception to the rule.

  15. tsgh says:

Obi AW’s comments on Payet will echo some comments on her after we played OM acouple of years back so I guess he might have a point.

Snap and I always rated Valbuena, Nkoulo, Ayew, Payet.

Syg use to love Thauvin who I never quite rated either…

  16. tsgh says:

Williams is shite at recycling play from the back…; excellent in the air though

Highest errors leading to goals in EPL

  17. Adam says:

True Rico but then he seems to be in a different position. We know he can play, he just hasn’t done it at Arsenal for a while.

  18. rico says:

Exactly Adam. Maybe there’s something in him when it comes to playing for his country, although he got a bit of stick after the game the other day. Too many flicks and tricks I read….

    Sound familiar..

  19. rico says:

For sure Adam, if he gets his game back its only good for Arsenal.

Dreadful keeping by Hart and stupid from Rooney, especially knowing Bale is so good at free kicks.

Have to get Stering off, he’s worse than Walcott…

  20. tsgh says:

Lol Adam; surely not euro vision. 🙂
maybe we can win the new 4 nations football competition before the welsh and Scots go independent…

  21. Hell Raising Devil says:

England have won……but tbh….they were confused tactically and there is an alarming lack of creative ideas in attack. I feel that the Kane-Sinclair combo is over rated. Vardy and Sturridge gave the team a slightly better offensive weapons but overall they have not impressed me.

Hart is also too much over rated. I think that PG will have another keeper on his mind when he takes over at shitty. He can easily get a keeper from abroad.

But who is there next in line after Hart who can be better in the English team???

  22. potter says:

Don’t agree with her politics but to get shot and stabbed is not the way to go about things. If anything her position might just spark off a sympathy vote.

  23. rico says:

    RIP Jo Cox.

Dreadful stuff going on this world…..

    Morning all.

Chuffed for both England and Norther Ireland. Can’t believe with all the stars in both sides, Poland and Germany could only muster up a draw.

  24. Lee says:

Wenger apparently nearly signed Payet last season……….why doesn’t he just shut the fuck up sometimes??

    Morning.

  25. rico says:

There’s little to no news out there today apart from England and Ireland winning so I really can’t be bothered to write anything today….

    So I’m having a day off… 🙂 🙂

  26. Adam says:

That would depend on who got involved Rico. 🙂
I might go to that restaurant that Brudder mentioned for lunch as its another slow Arsenal news day. 🙂

  27. Malaga gooner says:

    Morning Rico and the house

Did anyone see the BBC live blog at yesterday’s game?

It said arsenals Jamie vardy scored the equaliser.

  28. rico says:

Well there’s not many on here right now Adam and I think you and I would agree on most things.. 😉

Morning Mg, haven’t the Beeb denied that?

  29. Adam says:

Yes Rico. Brudder is a fine judge of restaurants so I thought that Gunpowder might offer some titillation. Though it could be banged out with all these city-types. 🙂

  30. Wavy says:

Not wishing to curry favour or anything but how crap was korma Kane and stick rice Sterling last night, not to mention deli alley, he was pretty useless too! Still we won thanks to Aresenal’s Vardy (I don’t think so) and sulky Sturridge. I suppose you could say they were quite hot stuff.
Right I’m off to chilli out for a while.
We seem to have acquired a peacock, he has taken up residence on the fence and or in between whiles preening himself in front of the patio window, vainglorious creature! Anybody know how to cook one? I reckon peacock tikka Marsala sounds quite tasty.?

Anyway, morning all. As you can see, possibly, it’s dull and dreary here. British summertime! My a***!

  31. allezkev says:

There seems to be a flood of incessant chatter on the click-bait sites re: Henrikh Mkhitarayan, one minute he’s comimg to Arsenal, next minute he’s dreaming of Old Bog, and so it goes on and on and on, mostly via his agent, (or could he be a super agent) and the more it goes on the more desperate it begins to sound as his agent thrashes around for the best pay day for the player and more importantly for himself…

Frankly I’ve pretty much forgotten about Mkhitarayan as there’s just too much agent inspired gobbling-off for me to believe that Arsenal still have an interest…

You don’t get all this with Mario Gotze and that’s why it wouldn’t surprise me if the German attacking-midfielder was Wengers actual target.

  32. obi says:

    Hello All:
Kev, having watched both players, Mkhitaryan will be better suited for Arsenal though, Gotze at about 5’7″, 160 lbs who consistently get injuries playing in EPL for Arsenal, huummmm. At 5’10”, 175 and a lot tougher Mkhitaryan actually adds skills and size that we need and he’s cheaper.

  33. bradster says:

    Hi All,

Best comment I read on HH was ts saying that Williams was a good headerer but he usually gets his team in trouble, just there after he sets up miles off Vardy with a header.

  34. allezkev says:

Does Wenger have any targets ?

Rico, I don’t have a clue what Arsene has planned, and I sometimes wonder if he has either ?

I’m quite looking forward to the series with Pakistan, Rico

  35. Hell Raising Devil says:

    Good Evening Lovelies and Hunkies.

The country of the vino has done it again. 1-0 against the swedes 6 points and already through to knockout stages.

no primadonnas. no super players. just a tight knit unit ready to work their asses for each other.

  36. rico says:

Me neither Kev, but I sure hope he does have a few things up his sleeve…

Starts Tuesday doesn’t it, the cricket that is. Should be good.

  37. Le Coq Monster says:

    Afternoon all !.

I was stuck in a traffic jam on the A30 near Bodmin and fell asleep !……………..then awoke to realise it was me causing the Jam !……………..that`s what happens when you listen to Italy Vs Sweden on Talksport !…………..a cure for insomniacs !……..I just need to be able to bottle it and I`ll be rich !……….If they can get a ship in a bottle then a radio in one should be a piece of piss !.

  38. Wavy says:

The only things Wenger has up his sleeves is, white rabbits a few doves and a token bouquet of paper flowers!

  39. Le Coq Monster says:

Stop talking about an Indian !…………….Pie&Mash and a Ruby, my two fav`s………….it would be hard to choose between them !.
I remember once coming back to London early, so me and my nephew went to the Pie&Mash shop in Bethnal Green……….the one you Brudders went to !…………….at about 9:45am ( it used to open early), I had my usual 6 pies and quadraple mash ( 3 pies and double mash twice as they dont have a plate big enough for 6&4 ! ), then at Lunch time we had it again in Watney Street (just for somewhere different ) and again in the evening in Bethnal Green as it was open late on Fridays !……………then went to Brick Lane and bought a bag of 20 Bagels to bring back to Cornwall !…………………………Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm…………………………….the only thing I miss about London…………………..Arsenal………….Pie&Mash and the Bagel shop at the top of Brick Lane ! hahaha

  40. allezkev says:

Just watching the Czech Republic vs Croatia on catch-up TV..,

Croatia certainly have some really good players, very technical, very tough.
    Manduzic looks good…

  41. Wavy says:

And some tasty fans too! Croatia that is.

Russia and Croatia in the street fighting final. The winners will be the side with one man, or woman, standing!

What a tournament! Napolean wouldn’t have stood for it. He would have put them all against a wall and shot them like dogs!

What aisle this world coming to? We are little better than animals, unrestrained, I’ll disciplined thugs and violent hordes! It seems the whole world is on a road to self destruction!

And with that happy thought I’ll say good night.

  42. Adam says:

Morning Rico. No, it was a venison doughnut. 🙂
With a very spicy dip. Odd but enormously tasty in a carnivorous way.
