Lies, Broken Promises & Failings yet again… Arsene in talks over a Defensive Midfielder?

Morning all.

And that’s not even us!

Poor old Luis Suarez:

Last year I had the opportunity to move to a big European club and I stayed on the understanding that if we failed to qualify for the Champions League the following season I’d be allowed to go.

I gave absolutely everything last season but it was not enough to give us a top-four finish โ€“ now all I want is for Liverpool to honour our agreement.

I don’t feel betrayed [by Liverpool] but the club promised me something a year ago just as I promised them that I would stay and try everything possible to get us into the Champions League.

They gave me their word a year ago and now I want them to honour that. And it is not just something verbal with the coach but something that is written in the contract. I’m not going to another club to hurt Liverpool.

Well, what to make of that?

How classy are Liverpool, not keeping their promise? Pff!

Suarez won’t feature in tonight’s friendly, he didn’t even travel with the rest of his team-mates having stubbed his toe so of course, speculation has gone into overdrive.

I strongly suspect the situation is quite different and he refused to travel, desperate for Liverpool to be left in no other position, other than to sell him.

I believe it’s already at that stage and now all that is left to decide, is where he will end up.

Both The Guardian and Daily Telegraph, who the player spoke to, report that Luis Suarez will be handing in a transfer request by the end of the week if he is not allowed to leave.

Interesting times ahead but we will get him?

The Daily Mail obviously think so, they are already battering him:

No way back for Suarez! Liverpool must wash their hands of a striker who appears desperate, petulant, ungrateful and selfish.

Funny though isn’t it, Luis Suarez wants a move to play Champions League football, to a club which will challenge for trophies and yes, that will be us if he and a couple of other top signings are made. We are a club which has competed at the top in years gone by and will do again IF Arsene Wenger/whoever gets this transfer and others done real soon.

Should we win our Champions League qualifier, we will be in the competition proper so right now, we are a better club than Liverpool and we are more likely to finish in the top four than they are.

This time last summer, all the newspapers were praising and understanding RvP’s decision to leave us in search of silverware at Manchester because that’s all the player wanted.

Suarez wants to join us for Champions League football so he says, so where’s the difference?

The Daily Mail really are fickle…….

Finally, LadyArse report that we maybe trying to sign ย Saint Etienne Defensive Midfielder Joshua Guilavogui who is 22 years old and French.

That’s it for another day, have a good one…

No Rico the media isn’t fickle, for the most part it’s just a bunch of anti Arsenal tossers….!

Oh and on that note good morning…!

  2. JLFC says:

Arsenal aren’t in the Champions League yet mate and those qualifiers are dodgy, you don’t even know who you’ve got yet until Friday and who ever it is you will have to do it with your current squad. I would not bet against you but football is a funny old game isn’t it?

  3. idahor esosa says:

it is a clear fact dat d promise da made must b keept n fufl coz he has don his part. They should let him com 2 arsenal n let us c glory 2geda.

  4. rico says:

Good morning to you Wath and all…

At least Bradford won’t beat us in the CO Cup this season, they were knocked out last night…

  5. ktr7 says:

Good read rico.it feels sooooo goooood to be on the other side of the fence ๐Ÿ™‚ i cannot feel sorry for pool fans since they were gloating in our faces this time last year with the media even tipping them to kick us out of the top 4.

  6. idahor esosa says:

it is a clear fact dat d promise da made must b keept n fufl coz he has don his part. They should let him com 2 arsenal, let him c wat he can do 2 win trophy 4 him self n 4 arsenal.rogars’ let him go n let us c glory 2geda’

  7. rico says:

    Hi Scott, Kt.

I am still convinced he will join us, RM are going to come in at the last minuet, I’m convinced ๐Ÿ™

  8. ktr7 says:

and f**k the media.as you rightly put it when Rvp did the same he got praised by the same media.I found a particular part of the suarez interview funny

Rodgers :’we are not going to sell suarez to a rival…’
yesterday suarez said :’its not like am joining a rival…’ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. Ken Hawkins says:

When it comes to the truth, if I had to choose between Rogers, Wenger and Suarez, on past reputations, I would go for the first two every time. Suarez does not exactly have a reputation for integrity, only for destroying the integrity of those close to him. let’s hope he goes a long way from these shores

  10. ktr7 says:

Rico am not popping any champagne yet but we are in with a great chance because I think we have some sort of agreement with suarez in place.Madrid are a threat but i doubt they are interested since they consider Morata good enough to be Benzema’s back up.they have so much faith in him that they rejected any suggestion of including him in the Bale deal.they have also been playing Ronaldo up front in preseason so i think its unlikely they will splash so much again.

  11. kenhawkeye says:

When it comes to the truth, judging on past records, I would rather believe Wenger and Rogers than Suarez. He is not exactly a glowing advert for integrity and has helped in tarnishing the reputation of others close to him. His ability to play football is beyond question but as a man, he pales next to RVP. I would like to see him playing as far from these shores as possible

  12. rico says:

I hope you are right Kt…

I fear Ronaldo will return to the PL and Madrid will suddenly be wealthy again and will sign him..

Haven’t Liverpool said they will sell him to an overseas club for a lot less?

  13. Adam says:

    Morning Rico and Wath.
It is a point to note how the media seem so desperate to paint Suarez in a negative light over this. He gave Liverpool a lot of goals last season but he is petulant, ungrateful and being a dirty South American, selfish. Let’s not forget that, according to these morons, it was the South Americans who introduced diving into our game. before them no English player had ever dived to win a penalty. Arsenal on the other hand supported VP emotionally, got him off a rape charge, continued to pay him through long spells of injury and then, when Wenger realised that his hand was forced, gave him the transfer he wanted to Old Trafford. The media, of course, understood VP’s reasons perfectly and zero kudos was given to Arsenal for giving him the transfer HE wanted, despite Wenger, in an act of crass stupidity claiming that he knew this would give MU the title.
Of course we all know that Liverpool under the astonishing stewardship of Rodgers are true title contenders this year. Owned by a man with an ironed head who hasn’t seen them play for 13 months, they were the team of the 80’s who haven’t noticed that it is 2013. Rodgers, who not long along was pledging his undying allegiance and loyalty to Swansea before dropping them like a stone simply cannot understand why Suarz doesn’t want to play for him or Liverpool any more. Swansea have moved onward and upwards since his demise and I imagine Laudrup is in with a shout as the next Scouse manager quite soon.
If Rodgers did make that commitment to Suarez then it speaks very, very badly of him and the whole club that it has come to this. If not then it is merely indicative of an irreconcilable breakdown in trust anyway.
When, oh when, will planks like Rodgers understand that what he and Moyes should have done when faced with losing big players is to make an announcement that they don’t want ANY players at their clubs who are not fully and totally committed and as such they will listen to offers for them as they, the managers, want them out. This siezing of the initiative is a sign of strength and willpower. The alternative has just made both managers and their clubs look stupid and rather weak.

  14. southyorkshiregunner says:

    A brilliant morning all…..

I picked up on the Mail story… Very anti-Arsenal, very-pro Man Utd.

    idahor esosa – Speak properly.
The majority who come on here aren’t gangsta yardies and know nothing about stealing car radios or wheel trims … well apart from Adam

  15. frednerk says:

    Morning Rico All,
I would bet wenger has seen the suarez contract,
he seems to have put all the eggs into this.
Suarez ….well it looks like has promised to leave,
the agent has been in contact with someone at the club,
    no doubt about it.

  16. potter says:

Morning all . On desktop. Plot thickening now and coming to the boil nicely. I can see them holding him to January then trying for an auction between Champion’s league teams. All depends on what the ยฃ 40 million plus 1 really means or even exists.

  17. ktr7 says:

    It gets even better…

PFA Chairman Gordon Taylor has told talksport they are supporting Suarez on contractual matters ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

  18. tsgh says:

    Morning all,

A good read… the hot news certainly gives AFC fans something to be optimistic about and certainly TalkShite seem more depressed than Brenda this morning.

The folks over there are thinking, an ambitious Arsenal will give them nothing to talk about on that piece of crap they call radio station…

The ginger Tw@t was at it again talking about how we should have gone for the swampies targets instead of Suarez… dear oh dear…

  19. ktr7 says:

Adam I wanted to say what you have just written.f**k them.we have been through this hell for years and all the media did was mock us.I couldn’t care less what they think of suarez if he joins us.

  20. emma says:

    Goodmorning all,

That was an explosive interview by Luiz suarez.

I am guessing HH will get trolled today.

LFC should show class by sticking to their promises. Irrespective of how they defined it arsenal are already in CL be it a play-off or not.
By definition arsenal has being registered in the CL not Europa League

LFC is in a state of checkmate. It’s either they take a hit and sell for ยฃ15m-ยฃ20m to a foreign club, sell to madrid IF they turned up or sell to arsenal

PFA chairman just said on talksport that Suarez has the full backing of PFA on contract issues

  21. ktr7 says:

I bet you we have a copy of Suarez’ contract in a safe somewhere and we have read it.that bid was very specific and that clause wouldn’t make any sense if all it meant was the player getting notified of the bid.maybe thats why we have not raised our bid because it may indeed be a release clause.

  22. rico says:

Ts, thanks and you are right, this is something to be optimistic about, this is the best chance we have in a long while to sign a top class goal scorer.

Potter – I think he’s gone, just where to now, how can they keep a player who just doesn’t want to be there.

We had it with Cesc, we just didn’t air our laundry in public, unlike Henry and Rogers are doing… Suarez is being clever, he’s desperate to get away and will force that any which way he can it seems…

  23. tsgh says:

The yanks over at liverpool initially thought 40M was decent return if LS07 who had only scored 16 goals the previous season was sold; I guess they never thought he could up his game and force a move…

Word of caution though, Suarez will do the same to us when he wants a last pay cheque in future 2 or 3 years time but no problems so far as he gives those wanting trophies a few before he goes…

  24. Adam says:

KT. I agree. Year upon year we have been raped by other clubs willie-waving their money at our players. The media have used it as a stick to beat us with. The fact that we are doing it with Suarez has infuriated them. If we got Rooney (which I doubt) then how sweet would that be?
I can dream and anything that makes Moyes more uncomfortable just has to be a good thing for football and humanity in general surely.

  25. Farooq says:

I swear to god the media in England are a bunch of effin hypocrites, where was the sympathy for Arsenal when the greedy badger pulled off a same move last year? Back then it was justified for a player to leave Arsenal in search of trophies ‘because he deserved as much’ but no, what could Suarez be thinking of leaving Liverpool, of all teams, after all they have done for him, after all the hard times they stood by him? Well my question for the media is why didn’t you ask the same questions of RVP, injured season after season, didn’t he betray the trust of Wenger and the fans by not repaying the loyalty they showed him. Just because he was in Arsenal it was all right. Why not use his excuse for ambition with Suarez’, after all he is making a step up to play for a team that finished 3 places ahead of Liverpool and are shy 2 players away from challenging for the title. Why not judge Suarez with the same tools that were used to judge RVP?

  26. emma says:

Listening to the media(talksport) and reading the papers(thetimes, dailyfail, etc) you will think that arsenal have mauled their cats. When van pursering left last year they all said it was the best thing to do now they are all bleating about suarez.

  27. the mighty karim says:

“Brilliant” post from the guy wishing cancer on Arsene Wenger,

well done Brian, world class comment !

  28. rico says:

Hi fred – I strongly suspect that we will have seen the contract as the agent/player is bound to have a copy. If the dippers aren’t playing fair, they will soon get caught out…

  29. southyorkshiregunner says:

Adam’s first paragraph at 09:55am IS the BEST example possible of showing us the Media’s “one rule for one club, and another rule for another”.
We DID for for Van Persie much more than Liverpool have ever done for Suarez….

Providing Suarez comes here and providing Wenger plays his hand properly – This could be that catalyst of intent, which brings more world class players our way … Hope so

  30. emma says:

Van pursering was on the treatment table for 7 effing years, averaging 15-20 matches every season until the last season when he felt he has arrived. We got no sympathy for that rather we were castigated

  31. southyorkshiregunner says:

It’ll be a 500+ comment-er today Rico. At last we’ve got something positive to talk about !!!

  32. Scott from Oz says:

Karim, did Brian actually say that?
I missed it, but must add that his post today just added so much to the conversation lol.
Brian, Le Grove are asking where you are ๐Ÿ™‚

  33. rico says:

One top class signing opens the doors imho, just why so many fans have been begging for us to do something like this for years.

We must make this happen, or at least do everything we can to make it happen.

If RM come in at the end, I suspect the player will choose to go there and they’d be nothing the club can do….

  34. Adam says:

Rodgers and Henry have made so many stupid PR decisions since this started that I am astonished they are both in the positions they are. Mind you, Rodgers looks like a dead man walking to me.
Let’s not forget that Liverpool will get ยฃ40 million cash in a buyer’s market too. Perhaps Ironed Head knows that Rodgers is likely to waste the lot on a load of duffers though. What’s the betting he is thinking of the next ‘Pool manager. You know, the one to bring back the “Good old days”. Is Dalgleish still free?

  35. ktr7 says:

How do pool consider themselves our rivals?…the last 4 seasons they have been behind us by 12, 10, 18, 12 points ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ we were 5 behind city and 2 behind chavs and 1 ahead of spurs;those could be considered rivals.

pool know if we get him and we add a few players the top 4 monopoly will be back again and they’ll be in midtable for the foreseeable future.they can’t believe Arsenal without oil money could actually come in through their front door and bid for their best player.the media can’t too because if we were to get him they’ll lose the column inches meant to bash Sanogo.

  36. rico says:

Good point Adam, RM wouldn’t pay cash I suspect whereas we’d be able to.

    Syg, that’s funny…

    Spot on emma.

  37. Scott from Oz says:

Silicone tape on he edge of the bat…no hotshot evidence.
    Pietersen.
    Just not cricket ๐Ÿ™‚

  38. southyorkshiregunner says:

This is what we could be getting … quote from John Cross.

“Suarez is a brilliant player but has a rap sheet as long as your arm. In fact, it makes you wonder whether Arsenal would be able to get him if he didn’t come with baggage. His value might put him in the ยฃ80m bracket, more big clubs would be in for him and Arsenal might struggle to attract him..”

  39. Adam says:

Well, I have just read one of the funniest comments on the Suarez affair. Jamie Reknapp, yes the tight trousered son of Old Twitchy Redknapp himself, has expressed his general disgust with Suarez and said that it is awful because it’s All About Money. Yes, a Redknapp criticising someone because it’s All About Money. I think I have severely underestimated the comedy value of this Suarez business. All we need now is a car window interview with ‘Arry himself explaining how loyalty is a forgotten word in football and bemoaning the sickening desire for money.

  40. frednerk says:

Rodgers knows only second tier players will want to join
    the dippers.
Gerrard just signed a new contract, hoping suarez stays.
    wonder whats in his contract?
Liverpool need 400million to finance a new ground, the
support is there to fill a new ground,But….
    Suarez can’t wait that long.

  41. rico says:

JC is right imho, his ‘other side’ would put a lot of clubs off…

He’d certainly test Arsene Wengers managerial credentials…. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  42. tsgh says:

    Hi SYG…

We have to be certain Suarez will do it to us… he does not stay at any club for more than 3 years… if AW leaves next season, even after doing a double I will bet you he will use that as an excuse to move to RM or a richer Napoli…

  43. ktr7 says:

Suarez would provide a really huge boost like Rvp did for the 1st 6 months last season.pool fans know deep down at a better club with a better manager and players he is very likely to be a huge hit.with him and wilshere in the same side we’d be hated up and down the country and i would love it ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

  44. tsgh says:

The gosple according to the Bleacherreport…

Luis Suarez can complain as much as he likes, but Liverpool and owner John W. Henry have no plan to sell their prized asset unless it is on their own terms, according to David Maddock of the Daily Mirror.

More specifically, they have no intention whatsoever to strengthen the squad of one of their key rivals this season while weakening their own, so Arsenal should forget about striking a deal for Suarez, according to Henry.

“I don’t know why people ask us if we are selling the club or the best players, because we are not. We like to buy stuff, not to sell.”

Maddock provides the latest after another turbulent day for the Merseyside outfit, who remain defiant in their stance that Suarez will not leave for the ยฃ40,000,001 million currently tabled by the Gunners.

    Hi-res-137714109_crop_exact Michael Regan/Getty Images

Suarez made his own standpoint abundantly clear on Tuesday evening, first pulling out of Wednesdayโ€™s friendly with Valerenga and then revealing he wants Liverpool to โ€œhonour our agreementโ€ by allowing a transfer, according to The Guardian’s Sid Lowe.

  45. rico says:

I think he’s just an honest writer Syg, tells it as it is rather than having an agenda to stick the knife in. Many don’t like him but tbh, I don’t think there has been many times I have disagreed with what he’s written.

He’s obviously very close to Arsenal, maybe he has a huge soft spot for us too, and I would guess AW trusts him, certainly enough for him to follow the club closely on tour….

  46. brezzy gunshots says:

this whole saga just shows how dynamic we humans behave, footballers this days are more of businessmen therefore loyalty comes after they get what they want. the worst scenario is where the player actually thinks he can achieve both financial and personal objective at particular place, I pity liverpool, only me know how I felt last year.

  47. tsgh says:

Does anyone know how ‘arry ended up on crutches? It is a site to behold…lol

Rico, I am having some issues with my screen so forgive my above normal gibberish.lol

  48. ktr7 says:

Ts if he does come and do the business and leave fair enough.we are used to it anyway and we are already numb to such moves ๐Ÿ™‚
Players nowadays are like guns for hire;if you hire one you expect it to shoot at what you aim it at.im no longer expecting loyalty after the way Rvp of all players shafted us.we know suarez is a prick;but id rather he be our prick ๐Ÿ™‚

  49. Adam says:

Cross and his ilk are pointing out the downsides to Suarez. I would just ask them to spend seasons paying the highest prices in World football to watch blokes like Chamakh and Gervinho and see how they would feel at the prospect of having a striker get the ball and actually “look” dangerous rather than like a comedy act.

  50. southyorkshiregunner says:

    Hiya Ginge.
At 26 years old and if he stays with us 3 seasons and we flog him for ยฃ30M it will do me.
Better value than wasting money on the shite we have been buying…. with the exception of last season that is.

  51. tsgh says:

I agree Emma, I posted a clip on him a few weeks ago and he looked like a Busquet to me…. he kept things very simple like Lothar Matthias or Makele in DM.

  52. Scott from Oz says:

So Liverpool like to buy “stuff”.
That is probably the kindest description of Andy Carroll for a few years now.

  53. tsgh says:

Yes in the 2nd minute but they still lost 3-2… a very good goal.

I still think the loan system does not really help our players. Aneke will not be used as a no.10 at Arsenal if he is to be given a chance.

He will probabaly end up a box to box midfielder but like all Arsenl players who go on loan they are played in attacking positions. Even Frimpong played as a CAM at Charlton… it did him no good at all.

At Fulham he was played anywhere a sub was needed.

  54. southyorkshiregunner says:

    Adam at 10:40am

That’s a mighty fine combo, Adam. Enough to put fear in the heart of any club ….

…Especially the one that pays their wages…

  55. devilgunner says:

  60. emma says:

Gordon Taylor has confirmed that the Professional Footballers’ Association are helping Luis Suarez with his bid to leave Liverpool but admitted the striker could be left in limbo due to the ambiguous clause in his contract.

Suarez has claimed the Anfield club are refusing to honour an agreement that allows him to join a Champions League side for a fee of over ยฃ40million, after they rejected an offer in excess of that amount from Arsenal.

Liverpool insist that, under the terms of the deal, they are under no obligation to sell and only have to inform the Uruguayan that a bid has been made for his services.

Speaking on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, Taylor desribed it is a ‘delicate situation’ and revealed his fears that the saga could rumble on and on.

โ€œThese buy-out clauses have caused no end of problems in the past and they continue to do so because of the way they were drafted at the time,โ€ he said.

โ€œHe believes the ยฃ40m amount that is mentioned, if that is offered that gives him the right to go.
It is a delicate situation and we are trying to helpโ€” Gordon Taylor

“Liverpool, from their side, are saying that is a minimum figure from which they will consider negotiation and of course they will want to keep the player, unless they replace the player with someone as good or better, which is not going to be easy in a short period of time.

“We have raised this issue with the Premier League, that buy-out clauses should have a great deal more clarity because Iโ€™ve never seen one yet that hasnโ€™t caused trouble.

“Itโ€™s also down to discussions Luis had with the manager as well and of course you have the owners involved.

โ€œThere are different ways it can be interpreted. If it goes to the Premier League it will take time and the window is then closed. It is a delicate situation and we are trying to help.

โ€œWe have been asked to try and help to sort the situation out and we have been trying to do that.

“The lad has had a chequered past but he is also an extremely good footballer and this is about a situation on the interpretation of a contract.

“You want contracts to be straight forward and clear and on this issue it is not clear. It is open to different interpreation by lawyers so, at the end of the day, it is about if an agreement can be reached.”

  62. Gonerjoe says:

To all those stating that they would rather believe Rogers over Suarez just a point early yesterday or the day before Rogers was going on about how Suarez understood Liverpools position and the where all happy. Don’t think so after last night

  63. tsgh says:

Liverpool definitely like to buy ‘stuff’; the reason Henry and Roger asked if they could have some of what they thought we were smoking at the Erms… lol

  64. devilgunner says:

I believe that the Suarez situation will end up proving harmful to both the dippers and us.

The dippers because Suarez is unhappy and will cause unrest, and maybe when he is sold he will leave them little time to get in another player.

For us it will be harmful also because imagine Giroud, Theo and Podolski start scoring. Who will make way for Suarez?

Remember Chamack between August and December of his first season? He managed around 8 goals if I remember right. Then came RVP and Chamack ended up scratching his head and arse.

Yes I know rotation is the key but who will make way? And Suarez will want to play in every game. And also the above three will want to play in every game.

Healthy for us yes. But hopefully it will not create unrest in the dressing room.

  65. Lee says:

  67. Federico says:

I think that the media enjoy baiting Arsenal fans because there is plenty of traffic and potential readership from doing so. So I don’t necessarily look at the media’s handling in the same light.

As long as you look at it in terms of ‘Is it winding up Arsenal fans enough to buy this, or click on this site?’, then you can see their reasons for doing so.

  68. DutchGooner10 says:

    Morning Gooner-holics,

The Suarez saga: VilePoo are just playing it Roman Senate style.

They’re drawing the traitor card on Luisz and the knives are out to be stone sharpened. Let’s not forget LFC got PR disasters from his camp before. Maybe they want him to bleed precautionary before he goes over to the dark side and starts yapping about Scoucer Life.

LFC knows that you need to poke the bag as Suarez holds a monkey, a cat and a rat in it. Sour experiences has been their saga tutor not his release clause. Luisz needs to take note of his past antics cuz it quite obviously got him chasing his own tail.

Suarez a Gunner??? Yes please. But do me a favor, put a mandatory anger management course in his contract. Starting from day one.

Nice read Rico. Madam, you is all about red & white.

All the players are begging the club to sign top class players, they want to win things and that’s what players like Suarez will help us to do…

As for the Dippers, I hope this really does harm them. RvP did that to us…

  70. rico says:

    Morning Lee.

    emma – that’s funny, silly old Moyes…

Hi Dg, long time and all that, hope all is well and thanks re the post..

  71. emma says:

dev- I think we will have variations in our system of play. Suarez could play behind the striker or sometimes be the main striker pending on the opposition

  72. tsgh says:

Dev as a footballing man you make a very good point at 11:02

The greatest footballing clubs and nations have not had international class players all over the field… they have had one or 3 and a very good squad; In order to have a good squad the players who play 7 to 15 times a season have to be respected by the fans and not called dead wood in my view.

For example AC Milan had Donadoni and Rijkaard but there were people like Ancellotti to step in when needed and they understood their place.

Barca had Abidal and Keita to step in for the big players…

The Galatico’s fell when it became more than 3 players…
We had the likes of Parlour and Grimandi stepping in for Edu , PV04 when he was on another of his suspensions.

BVB have Kehl to step in when Bender or Gundugan are a bit tired…

In 2002 France had 3 or 4 strikers amongst the top 6 strikers in the world… what happened then? Chelsea fell when they had too many stars after 2006 and Mauren-ho fell for it… He had the same issues at RM last season too..

  73. DutchGooner10 says:

Devil we seem to share thoughts although we’re miles apart. Indeed my thinking as well on Suarez.

  74. devilgunner says:

That is my hope Rico……that he gives the dressing room the same uplift Cantona gave to Manure.

But that is also my fear Rico………..its a double edged sword really.

I hope my hope wins over my fear.

  75. Scott from Oz says:

Devil, i think/hope that he last few seasons have adversity have (a) galvanised our core group of players, but also (b) made them ready and willing to crave success.

  76. tsgh says:

    Hi DG10 long time?

So we have a crap and weak squad who frustrate fans who go and see them play every weekend, but a player who will probably play 20 or so games will ensure we win a trophy? lol

    I thought football was a 11 man sport…

In my view any player who comes on TV to say buying another player will give them a boost deserves flogging… period.

If you are a sports man who earns 60k or so a week at 21y.o but believe another player will give you the boost needed…… pff

At the moment it seems some fans will sell their souls to win any trophy….

  77. Scott from Oz says:

Ginge, i reckon that is a little harsh mate.
    I can not stand Suarez.
I love the way Arsenal conducts itself both in and off the field.
No point beating myself up over a possible signing of someone i don’t like though.
You know me, i always look for the positives, and the positive thing is he will improve our squad if we sign him ๐Ÿ™‚

  78. tsgh says:

emma says: ts- arry had a knee cartilage issue and had a surgery not long ago.

Was that from carrying all the bribe money? lol

  79. tsgh says:

Scott, I want Suarez too… when everyone was going on about Suarez I said before we were linked to him that I would want Suarez and Benteke… in my view I do not care about all this tribal crap… I come from a world where people die with all that shite…

But if this was not football, would any man or lady on here honestly tell me that if there was a fight between 11 v 11 men or women; it is acceptable for one of the 11 to say his team may win if they had someone better than them?

  80. DutchGooner10 says:

    Ginge,

No longtime, no see. Been checking now and then when my curiosity got the better of me.

I know I become disfunctional when our transfer window rolls down. Every TW seems the same.

The AFC board get in their limousines roaming the streets, rolling down the blackened out window and whispering “Hey YOU, wanna play football??” So this year I opted to stay away from it all.

  81. tsgh says:

… continuing from 11:30 imho you will never hear any rugby player say some of the crap over paid footballers who people worship btw come up with…

football is a 11 v 11 game when the whistle blows…. if all the players applied themselves with the talent they had we won’t have cases where Bradford will beat Us or the swampies.

  82. Scott from Oz says:

Ginge, i agree totally it is a team sport, and no professional footballer should need motivation.
Having said that, we are lacking that little touch of class or brilliance, and we can look at it as our players conceding we are not quite good enough, or that they are honest enough to admit it.

  83. tsgh says:

I wish I could like you DG :-), but I have a screw loose I must admit,so I love the pain of reading folks see the glass half empty instead of half full.. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  84. Keith says:

Devilgooner I think suarez could play ahead of any of those strikers…hence worldclass….and his goal ratio! he could especially get on ahead of podolski..who scores very little.

  85. tsgh says:

I totally agree Scott, before the Erm cup kicked off I mentioned on here that I did not care about the Napoli game unlike lots of people. My concern was how we fared against Galatasaraay… and I was right.

We drew and lost in the competition but we had enough chances in both games to have won it easily bar the bit of quality which we lack.

But I repeat, overpaid men going on about how they need someone to help them scares me… its a reflection of society really.

Even Jesus had a word with his disciples when they thought the boat was going down and had no faith…. Dev was there ask him…. ๐Ÿ˜€

  86. Scott from Oz says:

Mate, the fact any sportsman earns more in a a week than nurses, soldiers and fireman do in a year or more tells me society is f**ked.

  87. Scott from Oz says:

Keith, from what i have seen of Podolski, we have the real version his season.
He just looks fitter and leaner than last season.
Nobody will convince me he was right.

  88. DutchGooner10 says:

Have you stooped so low to draw comparisons with the fisherman tale, Ginge? Don’t you he was a figure skater who accidentally got caught up in a story about walking on water?

  89. devilgunner says:

Podolski will have a big part to play this season I am sure.

As long as AW keeps on rotating them I would not mind. They would keep fresh.

Now for a bloody hard midfielder. And a feking no nonsense defender.

  90. Keith says:

Hoefullt suarez will have a bigger part to play : ) Bloody hard midfielder and a no nonsense defender…my thoughts exactly!

  91. rico says:

Scott – have to agree re Podolski, no way way he 100% last season and I think he has admitted that.

He looks a bit better, but please, no more penalty taking…

  92. tsgh says:

    Pure class

โ€œAt the moment the situation is on standby,โ€ Wenger told Al Jazeera Sport.

โ€œI heard that [Suรกrez is considering legal action to force a move] but this is sometimes linked with things that you donโ€™t know as a potential buyer.

โ€œThat is the story between Suรกrez and Liverpool and I donโ€™t know what has been said, what has been promised and what has been written and that is only Suรกrez and Liverpool that can decide that.

โ€œItโ€™s nothing to do us. We have been told that the player wants to leave Liverpool and thatโ€™s why weโ€™ve acted.โ€

  93. Scott from Oz says:

Keith, no need to get testy.
Read my post again champ, it is not a comparison, just an observation on one player.

  94. tsgh says:

Kt- It is going slow because a man who has done nothing for the club opened his gob to tell the world we had money to spend…

As I say society has moved away from shopping from markets due to supermarkets etc so they have no idea about bargaining imho…

  95. DutchGooner10 says:

Yes Coach. We need a midfield general.

Someone who makes you stare at the ground like you been caught both hands in the cookie jar every time you run into him.

Well said Scott. Being paid a king’s ransom each week doesn’t do wonders for your morale it seems.

  96. Scott from Oz says:

Rico, if at penalty meant something, i woud not want anyone else at the club taking it.
    Honestly.

  97. tsgh says:

How do you find another Romford Pele when all the boys in Essex tare trying to be the next Joey Essex? lol

Petite was a left back and it did him no harm when AW converted him into a CB/DM…

I totally agree with you btw…

  98. ktr7 says:

It seems that the PFA are getting involved to sort out this issue asap since if it goes to the premier league it will take much longer to sort this issue out.either way it seems suarez will accelerate this process and we’ll have to wait and see and hopefully we get him in the not so distant future.am hoping we are negotiating elsewhere too.

  99. tsgh says:

I am a bit confused by Brenda’s latest comments… chasing one’s tail comes to mind.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has, once again, confused everyone by stating that they have absolutely no intention of selling Luis Suarez to one of their rivals but theyโ€™ll sell him if they get the right price.

โ€œAt the moment the situation is on standby.

  100. tsgh says:

So the media still think finishing 5 points behind Shitty does not make us $hitty’s competitors but they are certain Liverpoo’d finishing 14 points and 4 places behind us is…. Geeeez.

  101. rico says:

Mmm, I’m not sure after Sunday Scott ๐Ÿ˜‰

Phil Thomson has waded in with his view on Suarez, says liverpool look more likely to make top 4 than us ๐Ÿ™‚

Also, he reckons that Liverpool are dealing with this is the proper way..

    What a laugh….

  102. tsgh says:

Indeed Kt- pure class; that is why he will still be wanted by even UnReal and most big clubs if he left us.

AW-โ€œItโ€™s nothing to do us. We have been told that the player wants to leave Liverpool and thatโ€™s why weโ€™ve acted.โ€

  103. ktr7 says:

I think a compromise may be ultimately needed in this sitiuation.Suarez sitiuation at pool is untenable and they’ll have to lower their demands since he clearly wants out.if we raise our bid to midway i can see pool cashing in.however,if we are certain its a buyout clause then there is no need to raise the bid.let the lawyers handle it.

  104. DutchGooner10 says:

At the moment of speak I’m donning the Arsenal replica. It clearly shows a canon on my chest, I wonder if the powder is wet or the open end has been corked like a toy.

Stamp some f*%$g authority on a situation please. If your done deal drive is slow take your foot off the darn brake.

  105. tsgh says:

Kt-7 I have said all along that the dippers are just waiting for LS07 to make himself look even worse so that they can say they had no choice as no club wanted him…

If I was AW I will call my nigerian buddy to get an imitation RM letter head and place a ยฃ5M bid for Suarez just to show thm how lucky they are to have ยฃ40M straight cash in this economy. lol

  106. tsgh says:

Unconfirmed reports that Alharbi El-Jadeyaoui shares an agent with Marouane Chamakh… lol.

Who says lightening never strikes twice… lol

  107. tsgh says:

    Later Rico…

I will ask again… how do people i.e media and anti-Arsenal brigade think we can’t make the 5 points between us and $hitty but think liverpoo’d will make 14 points on us with Aspas?lol

  108. ktr7 says:

Not directly ts but as you say via a 3rd party to convince him of a move.there is no way suarez would burn his bridges if he doesn’t know what awaits him on the other side…

according to SSN Barca have made an official bid for David Luiz.

  109. southyorkshiregunner says:

Ktr7 – it appears obvious the Arsenal knew everything there was to know re: Suarez and that they (inc Agents) have spoke at length.
Wenger dropped Higuain like a hot potato and put his focus fully on Suarez. You may say Madrid moved the goalposts “pricewise”, but for me Suarez was the No. 1 target.
It also appears that there is some “deal” in place for Suarez coming to Arsenal as we don’t seem too concerned with haggling with Liverpool.

  110. ktr7 says:

according to wayne veysey (goal.com) fabregas is still considering leaving barcelona but doesn’t want to join MUFC.He would however be interested in coming back to us…take that with a pinch of salt.

  111. ktr7 says:

The Evening standard are saying that we are not going to raise our bid since we strongly believe any ruling will fall in our favour…I think so too and thats why the sitiuation is deadlocked.we must be extremely confident it is a release clause or else we would’ve put in another bid already.

  112. Kcosby snr. says:

Oooh! What a transfer saga!the truth is;the should allow suarez go,he doesnt want to play again,he’s already decided that last season, thats why he played with all his heart2 make lpfc qualify fo cl,but unfortunately they didnt!so his time is up!the worst thing liverpool can do now is to hold him back.they should sell him outrightly and use his money&acquire a replacement before the window closes.ยฃ42-ยฃ45m can do the magic.

  113. vernat1066 says:

Suarez to Real Madrid and then we get Benzema from them? Still we need to concentrate on getting midfielders and defenders in

  114. emma says:

Phil Thomson made me laugh. Squealing like a cat on skysports news.
Anzhi have put up their star players for sale. Surely we could get 1/2 decent buys

  115. southyorkshiregunner says:

Phil Thompson is Liverpool through and through. I don’t particularly like the guy, but you can’t fault his loyalty.

  116. ktr7 says:

Bob Wilson reckons Wenger can handle Suarez and that he is the marquee player we need.if he is good enough for him he is good enough for me.

emma just ignore them.they can’t believe penny pincher Arsene is about to make the 2nd most expensive purchase ever in the Britain in this transfer window.they will have nothing to attack him by.they must’ve been hoping Giroud got injured and we ended up with Sanogo leading the line at Old trafford.

  117. allezkev says:

    Rico, 12.15;

Phil Thompson should keep his massive hooter out of this saga.

Mind you, it’s impossible for Thompson to keep his hooter out of anything. For God’s sake, Thompson’s hooter is even bigger than Adam’s rattle…

Yes, that is hard to believe, but true… ๐Ÿ˜‰

  118. southyorkshiregunner says:

Emma – there’s not a deal of great players at Anzhi…. Willian or Zhirkov maybe ….

  119. devilgunner says:

Will this make him see any sense?? I doubt it………….

,,,,,,,,,,,Nicklas Bendtner has been dropped from the Danish national team with the manager, Morten Olson, saying that the player needs to sort out his club position.
Bendtner has been the subject of at least six bids from other clubs, all of which have been accepted by Arsenal but he has yet to agree terms with any of them due to his wage demands.
Now the playerโ€™s refusal to do whatever it takes to get playing time has impacted on his national career but it remains to be seen if even that will have an effect on the player or if heโ€™d rather just collect his wages while not bothering about getting any minutes under his belt.
    Olson told the media
โ€œWe know that Nicklas has a slightly different body than Lars Jacobsen, so he must be in a different playing and physical shape, so heโ€™s obviously not in form.
โ€œThere will hopefully be something relating to his club situation.
โ€œWe hope that everything will come together for him.โ€
Bendtner has been back training at Arsenal since his summer break and there have been reports that he was blaming Arsenal and the fee they were asking for him as the reason he was unable to find a new club. Arsenal might be to blame for paying him a ridiculous amount to begin with when he didnโ€™t warrant it but it is totally his remit now as to where he puts his priorities โ€“ playing football or collecting a nice fat cheque.
Denmark play Poland in a friendly on August 14th.

  120. allezkev says:

    Afternoon Gooners et al…

    Nice post Rico…

Whatever happens regarding the Suarez transfer, I do hope that Wenger has an alternative, just in case Real Madrid make a late move….

Could be a case of Arsenal paying Suarez’s agent a bigger back-hander than Madrid or anyone else….

  121. emma says:

    A piece from today’s guardian

Rodgers has talked of the need for Suรกrez to show loyalty and nobody has reminded him that in 2009, as Watford manager, he provided some of the answers himself. “People are questioning my integrity and one thing I have mentioned is I always have integrity,” Rodgers, asked about the fact bookmakers had slashed the odds on him taking over at Reading, said back then. “I am loyal and find it disloyal when I am asked about other clubs when I am the Watford manager.” Within two weeks, he was Reading manager.

  123. rico says:

emma – one of the reasons I dislike the man is because he pooped on Reading a few years ago, as did Pardew…

  124. tsgh says:

@Oz – Scott and I had a ‘gentleman’s’ agreement (the same way Liverpoo’d and LS07) did that if I backed his assertions on Ramsey with stats he will send me a cheque… I am still awiting the cheque… lol

I am hearing reports that teams in spain outside’ the thieving 2′ are planning to meet to try to find means of levelling the field a lil bit.

In Spain they do not enforce EC/EU laws but use FIFA’s provisions on fair trading… so meansclubs in Spain owned by Oligarch like the Qatari at Malaga can’t invest in their teams

  127. southyorkshiregunner says:

    Lol kev …

I’m sound Ozzie. Sorry re: the dog, mate.

The Alsation/German Shepherd I inherited from my mam when she died over in Malaga (Oct. 2008 Sundrland 1 Arsenal 1) is on her last legs – literally. She’s been having a stay of execution on a daily basis. Her back end is shot and she’s incontinent from time to time. The right thing would be to have her put to sleep, however Julie keeps on saying to “Just give her another week”.
She’s been saying that since January.
Now the Rotweiller is limping his walks……
    Both dogs are old.

  128. rico says:

  129. ozgunner says:

SYG my little girl got cancer swiped – she was fine one minute, a bag on bones and vomit three weeks later. She was 6 – like loosing a kid for me. Life goes on i know but i miss her something terrible daily.

  130. ozgunner says:

hiya Rico, thank you. I must say my whole summer would have been nothing but negative anyway, I am disgusted with the club to be honest and their never ending list of excuses for not getting in there and getting the job done. So tired of all of them. Real are one phone call away from Suarez, while we are busy setting up trials for god knows who. Pitiful – and as for his “we’ll be stronger next year” ffs how long does he get away with this rubbish

  131. southyorkshiregunner says:

    Facist, facism, DutchG?

Errrr…. When someone cannot accept ugliness in other people ie… Kipper Lips, big nose, huge protruding forehead, chisel chin, a set of protruding incisors, great fcuk off ears, beady eyes, bolly eyes, pig nose, red nose, black teeth, yellow teeth, bad breath, green teeth, double chin, triple chin, no chin, handlebar moustache, Hitler moustache, being bald and having a small head …. the list is endless …..

…and then alienation of that said person by the Rich and affluent Kev

  132. allezkev says:

    That’s hard SYG….

  135. southyorkshiregunner says:

  138. emma says:

Iniesta, Xavi and Busquet not in starting lineup for Barca. Looks like Fabregas will be seen alot on the bench this season bar injury to those trio

  139. ozgunner says:

emma – confusing the Everton situation as both are surely solid additions to any squad? They will both be involved in panic bids no doubt as the targets fail for the clubs leaving it late

  140. allezkev says:

Yeah, sorry Oz, when I moved house know 2004, I had 5 cats and my Labrador..

I have one cat left, it’s been one after another..

That’s why, no more for me…

  141. tsgh says:

    Rico, I just saw Phil’s interview… ๐Ÿ˜€

These ex-Liverpool players are as deluded as their fans. Why do all these former players keep talking about Arsenal as if we are no good. They are slated for not buying players to turn them into contenders but when they try to the same people say why would anyone want to go there. Ian Wright, Phil Thompson and Graeme Souness have all been at it lately and it really annoys me.

  142. emma says:

oz – I think that’s what will happen to everton if they don’t have contingencies in place.

In the meantime Barca could get to double figures in this match 7-1

  143. Gonerjoe says:

  144. tsgh says:

The dippers asking for 55 million for Suarez is laughable imho, trying to compare him to Cavani is also laughable as Cavani is highly professional, on and off the pitch he is a respectable person and player.

How and why these type idiots are employed in the media which we pay for is questionable.

Only my opinion

  148. DutchGooner10 says:

    Oz

Mate, ‘adversity makes you stronger’ is the same as ‘what you persist will resist’. Bollocks.

Nothing wrong with kicking an empty can now and then, saying ‘ F*&$k all’. Not everything in life has to be competition driven. Like you need to conquer the entire human race every single minute of your life.

  149. ozgunner says:

you are right Dutch, they say gorwn men don’t cry don’t they. Wept like a baby the day i put my little one down I tell ya and for many days after. Oh well… nothing i can do now but wait for all the good memories to take over the loss. Funny all the crap we’ve faced this year suddenly meant nothing when we realised she was dying. Perspective hey?

  150. southyorkshiregunner says:

As a favour to my father-in-law I researched his family background a few weeks ago. Illuminating.

He never knew his mother, my wife’s grandma – had a sister who died of meningitis when she was only 12 years old. Nor did he know that her father had to bury another two infants as well as his first wife who died at 29 years old.
I don’t want to sound morbid, as this is a football blog – but that, I feel puts things into perspective.

  151. ozgunner says:

SYG you know, i was thinking of all the sick kids in our local hospital through the recent days and wondered how the hell those families cope. My mate has a daughter with cancer, she’s 6 and not looking well at all – jesus

  152. tsgh says:

Oz- nothing is guaranteed even if the club bought a list of players chosen by a million and one fans. But I do know liverpool finished 14 points behind us. We also had a better defence and scored more goals and won more games than them.

We have lost no one they have lost their best player Carragher imho… they have replaced him with a former invincible who has not played at the top level consistently since 2010…

JW will be fitter whilst Gerard is approaching retirement. They also lost Jonjo so how the media thinks they will fifnish above us is beyound me.

Ok, manure finished 16 points above us but imho Fergie gives them at least 10 extra points each season just by him being their manager.

Last season after 2 games we were already 7 points behind the table leader Chelsea and they finished only 2 points above us on the final day. We could have still finished above the chavs had Moyes not bottled it or looking somewhere else…

$hitty have lost their best player in Tevez and Kompany is now behind Koz in my opinion as the best defender in the league…

If we add players equally as good as we currently have we will have a squad that can deliver at least a cup to the faithful.

Our issue has never been about the quality of our starting 11 or 15 but the 18 or 23 players in the squad…

  153. tsgh says:

Oz re 2:43 I pray the child recovers mate…

That is why I will never ever make football life or death…

The issue in society now is that no one cares if the cr@p is not on their door step unfortunately…

  154. vernat1066 says:

Sorry to hear about your dog Oz, its a hard thing to lose someone you love. SYG like the odds lets have Kaka + Benzema for 40 million and Real can have suarez. Buy a centre half and some youngsters/fringe players.

Kaka + Rosicky = one fit player for a season??

  155. DutchGooner10 says:

    Oz

I’ve used my extra time away from the rumor mill to read up on articles.

One was about ‘technopoly’ a essay about how society has turned humans into ‘tools for tools’.

The economy/your job has become a tool, your household has become a tool, your personal network is a tool and so on. Just to numb you down and rob your senses of direction.

Believe me, many on here know what you’re going through. Heartfelt comradery is always on offer here at HH.

  156. ozgunner says:

Dutch – yes it is mate – a good place this one and very glad Scotty made the intro for me. Must admit helps with the something missing feeling as well. Took time out as life had overtaken me a bit but it is good to be back mate – cheers vernat appreciate it mate

  157. asiangooner says:

    Hello friends

    Excellent post rico as always

Things just getting better and better for us arsenal fans and boy did we deserve it for so long. Im getting more confident that we will get suarez. The best thing atleast this transfer window is that we are on the other side of the fence…..

Plus it feels so good to see LFC fans so pissed off and desperate and the comments from Brenda regarding all this class bullshit are priceless

  158. DutchGooner10 says:

When was the last time we saw a player cry cuz he was to be sold?

Ours was Rocky Rocastle at the training ground. (If I remember correctly).

Tools for tools, I tell ya. Clubs virtually have become vehicles of commercial interest and advertising space. Subsequently turning players into assets, an accountancy term, mind you.

  159. DutchGooner10 says:

    AsianGooner

Are you ‘the running man from Vietnam’. If you are, bless you. If not, bless anyway. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  160. ozgunner says:

Dutch, agree again mate – many of the clubs are toys now, some kind of status symbol like the latest mobile phone. Like at our guy, how many games did he actually get off his fat ass and watch last year? Supporters pffft

  161. southyorkshiregunner says:

AsianGooner – Had a Pakistani meal Saturday night in Scunthorpe. Top bloke who owns it. Great food, mate.

  162. DutchGooner10 says:

    Night Oz.

    AsianGooner

Welcome, many flags of nations in this house.

Pakistan, pops a rare question to my mind. Have there ever been a Pakistani footballer on the European stage??

  163. allezkev says:

I have heard his name mentioned many many times, Capoue that is, and he has been linked to Arsenal many many times. There was even talk of an unsuccessful bid, was it last summer?

But as with Mbwia and M’Villa, Arsene never completed the deal… Why?

Did he see something in these players, ie flavour of the month, but unable to sustain their form?

Did questions arise about things outside of football?

So whilst I share everyones disappointment at seeing the Spuds sign, who on the surface, is a decent player.

You have to wonder why Wenger has stood aside and let Capoue join our neighbours??? ( notice I didn’t say rivals, as that would be a daft thing to say )…

  164. tsgh says:

It is being said that the reason why no one has gone near MF yet is because his release clause is actually in the region of 2 times his original buying price of ยฃ14M… and not ยฃ23M as reported. That explains why no one is bothering with him imo ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

  165. tsgh says:

    Evening Kev… a voice of reason…

I agree with you there; as both Emma have both said in the past he has not even played as a DM for club for a long time…

  166. emma says:

I would prefer Joshua Guilavogui over Capoue based on current form. He was consistent thru last season compared to capoue who wasn’t

  167. rico says:

2.09 Syg. Spot on, so so very true. Just a shame their are so many bastards in this world who don’t treat them right…

Evening folks, has Chamakh gone yet?

  168. tsgh says:

Hi Rico… it seems they are keen again. I wonder who will create the goals for Soldado with so many DM or box to box midfielders… unless Sandro who I rate very highly is not coming back or Scott Parker is moving to join ‘arry.

  169. rico says:

Hi Ts, thanks – I see that Levy is pushing for ยฃ150 million for Bale, what a joke that is….

I really don’t get why AW has signed a DM kind of player yet, unless Perez is going to be the guy…

  170. tsgh says:

ยฃ150 Million Syrian pounds maybe not sterling.lol

AW still rates Frimpong I think… he is back from injury nd training so…

I know a lot of fans don’t rate him because he commits too many fouls but I thought that was the definition of a powerhouse midfield enforcer.

2 years ago before he went on loan to wolves and gt injured he had made the highest number of starts to a DM under 21 in the whole Europe for a top Europen side.

AW also trusted Frimpong to play the DM when we were facing Udinese in that 25 million pound game…

I think Perez may have a chance too…

  171. Judge me in May says:

    Evening,
Suarez is a horrible git and a nasty piece of sh**…exactly What this team needs,
beside, he is not a bad footballer.. and a winner..controversial sometimes
And it makes all financial sense too even if he costs ยฃ50 millions plus..
It could only happen if we qualify to CL proper imho…
I am not a big fan of fellaini, though he might strengthen our midfield and become our new Diaby,
AW probably thinks it would hinder Ramseys development anyway….

  172. rico says:

    That’s a shame emma….

Ts – I often forget Frimps he’s been injured so long – I like him but I seriously worry about his fitness. Not sure he’d last a season any more than Diaby would…

Spot on re Suarez Judge, he’s a nasty piece of s**t – but I’d love him to be Arsenals nasty piece of s**t….

  173. tsgh says:

Bobby Pires had 2 cruciate injuries similar to Frimps when he joined us before he went on to become a PFA winner. There is hope…

He looked good when he played for Fulham..

If you listen to JW talking about how important Frimps was to him in order to make him such a great prospect you will understand why AW rates him…

  174. rico says:

I’m beginning to think you and Ts are married emma…

But then you’d be arguing if you were ๐Ÿ˜‰

  175. rico says:

Evening Adam, great to see Oz back, poor guy has been through a lot. Hopefully today is the first of many days for him….

  176. tsgh says:

Emma don’t know much about him apart from youtube clips but he makes all the right moves considering his age.

I also watched him a bit against Turkey when I heard about him. Him and ‘ J. Quintero ran the show in midfield against turkey who are very good.

  177. allezkev says:

Hmm, voice of reason Ginge, me?

Nah, the voice of resigned acceptance methinks….

I just hope, that if the ยฃ40million bid for Suarez fails, and he moves elsewhere. That Wenger doesn’t use that as he’s ‘get-out’ card, when he’s accused of being mean….

I wonder if the Suarez bid, was a calculated risk???

In that Wenger/Arsenal are banking on the bid failing, but they now have a cast-iron excuse when criticised???

  178. Adam says:

Kev. I doubt that most fans would see that as an excuse. Add that to a poor start to the season and things would happen.
I don’t think it would be the accusation of being mean, but rather one of being really, really stupid.

  179. rico says:

As do I Adam. So much…

Robbie Fowler thinks Liverpool should ask for Theo as part of the Suarez deal!

  180. devilgunner says:

Ginge………no one would be more happier than me than if Frimps would make the grade with AFC. I would really be over the moon.

He is AFC through and through.

however is mental state must be a bit worrying. I doubt he is cut out to be a top top player.

But I would like him to make the grade.

  181. rico says:

If it all pans out that way Kev, they’ll be many an unhappy fan and a lot of nasty stuff flying around….

  182. kenhawkeye says:

But if Luis Suarez is a man who thinks people should keep to their promises; how about this promise he made six months ago in an interview with the Daily Mail?
‘But I want to say now that, if you want to know what will happen to me if we don’t qualify for the Champions League, then I will say this: I have a contract with Liverpool and I am very happy here. I will stay.’
Interesting that a man who made this promise to the fans six months ago is now claiming the hierarchy at Liverpool have broken some sort of verbal agreement to let him leave if they didn’t finish in the top four. So, Luis, which is it? Are you lying about the verbal agreement or did you lie to the millions of Liverpool fans that have had backed you from day one? Also, what will you tell Arsenal?

  183. allezkev says:

Ah coincidence Adam, I am going to a party Saturday week and the friend from the Emirates will be there.

I will see if the ‘friend’ is one of the same or not…
    Should be an interesting conversation…

  184. stevepalmer1 says:

    Evening all, nice one Rico.
Brenda is doing all this shouting only for the fans, he knows that the fans although they know Suarez past they also love a goal scorer that gives his all. Brenda is in the same boat as Wenger was last year, RVP was a fans favorite 30 goals a season player almost suicide to sell him, but Wenger made a mistake with Henry he kept him a year longer than he should have and a 30 million player went for a sight less a year on. Persie was sold at his height a 30 year old striker who was only going to be offered a one year deal but Wenger knew that the fans would go ape shit and they did. Rednose offered a good price and a long contract for Persey but then he knew he only had a year to go before he retired, Van Persie would be someone elses problem. Brenda has resigned himself that Suarez is going but has to get the fans on his side. Problems are made when you buy players who will expect to be first choice as with Van Persie and Rooney. Rooney wasn’t happy before being made to play Midfield instead of his forward position and buying Perse made it worse. If we get Suarez then our players up front will also have their noses out of joint, forget the players answeres when asked about his posible move, when they say we love the competition, like hell they do.

  185. tsgh says:

‘Ken. Using the Daily Mail as a source carries certain risks.’ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ Another classic

Even Dev, stats are barred from here… lol

Very interesting stats Dev, it puts things in perspective… Theo just needs to improve on his all round game imho to be appreciated by a few more people who do not go by the moniker Rico… lol

On a serous note though, when it comes to big games there are 3 or 4 players in our squad that I will count on to perform and he is one of them…

  186. tsgh says:

SPI, you are on form this week… you must be catching some big snappers. lol

You make excellent points above especially with your experience and all….

As I said Barcelona and RM fell from grace for having too many stars…

  187. tsgh says:

Ken- You would have thought after the Torres saga 2.5 years ago the your team and supporters would have been used to being called unambitious like us but… ๐Ÿ˜‰

  188. arsenal11730 says:

    Good evening Gooners,

The vitriol being angled our way from the Scousers is partly true and partly unfair.
Liverpool and Arsenal are both Top Class Clubs with great heritage and tradition. The fact they have not been in Champs League recently, means sweet fa, as they are still on a par to us.
Their winning history confirms that; honestly Manure, Chavs and Sheikh City are in a complete league of their own.
We have witnessed our top player depart for pastures anew every season for the last 5. This is a new experience for the scousers and i understand the emotion runs high.
Its time to bite the bullet, sell the unhappy player to us, as we are the only bidder. Reinvest the funds into a couple top players and fight with us for top 4.

  189. devilgunner says:

Ginge……..RM and Barca fell from grace for having too many stars.

We fell from grace when we started selling them.

  190. rico says:

Evening and thanks Sp. I think things were different with RvP though, he had just one year left on his contract, Suarez has three.

I compare this with the Cesc situation, albeit for different reasons for the players.

Credit to Wenger, he dealt with Cesc/Barcelona behind closed doors, unlike Brenda who is spouting to the media/papers…

Will we eventually sign him, I doubt it myself….

  191. devilgunner says:

Seems as if Capoue is joining the spuddies now. Fee of 8 million is agreed.

And its being reported that we will sign Nani now that Gervinho has drawn his curtains.

  192. tsgh says:

very true… we always did though.

For simplicity I shall look at our noteable departures 1998/1999
    1998/1999- Ian Wright
    1999/2000- Anelka, Bould, ‘Pratt’
    2000/2001- Petite, Overmars, Winterburn
    01/02- Vivas, Dixon, Pennant
    02/03- Manniger, Grimandi, Adams
    03/04- Seaman, Luzhny, Stepanovs :D, Jeffers ๐Ÿ˜€
04/05- Parlour, Kanu, Keown, Van Bronchourst, Wiltord, Stephen Taylor
    05/06- Edu, Viera

  193. Adam says:

Arsenal11730. At this moment Liverpool are a long way from Arsenal when you look at the ground and the income streams. Liverpool are a lesson to all big clubs as to what can go wrong.
You cite Chelsea, Man City and Man as being in a complete league of their own. On a European level, where would you rate Bayern Munich in comparison to those clubs?

  194. devilgunner says:

Chavs, Shitty and Manure are balanced on a knife edged Adam. At the moment I would dare say that we are in a league of our own financially. We are the top there. Then come the rest while the above three are the bottom…………because they are financially doped.

Just now Moratti, an Internazionale man through and through has sold the club to Thohir. Where will that lead the club, only God and the devil know, Will they be successful? in the short term maybe, but in the long term it will be counterproductive.

That is why I like our model and would like us to adopt some of the Bavarian club’s strategies.

One thing I really like about BM is that no one can have more than 49% of the club’s shares.

  195. asiangooner says:

Glad you enjoyed your pakistani food syg. There are some really nice pakistani resturants in uk i must say…. But if you want the real deal you will have to come here im sure you would be blown away (not literally lol) by the taste.

Dutchgooner i am quite sure there arent any pakistani football players who play internationally. Its a shame football isnt that big here right now but its getting popular slowly and gradually. There arent any arsenal fans though! Most are united or barca i reckon. Im a rare breed! Lol

  196. Adam says:

Ken. I don’t think many on here would cite Suarez as being of unimpeachable character. I imagine he has changed his mind. He has looked the Liverpool squad, compared it to their rivals and decided to move on.
I doubt he will be the last player to do so either.

  197. tsgh says:

Dev- Fc Munchen and BVB have maintain a constant and steady path over the last 15 or 20 years imo…

FC Bavaria are a posh and civilised version of the 2 thieves in Spain as the Bavarians get back rolled when needed as in the ยฃ90M pounds given to them by the council of Bavaria to help with the stadium move.

Whilst BVB are the most supported club in Germany and arguably in western Europe (not globally) they still sell when the price is right like Ajax does…

  198. rico says:

ken, no need to say sorry about the DM, they are just scumbags…

Wish I was as confident as you Sp, but agree, get onto sorting the next. 3 I hope…

  199. devilgunner says:

    Agreed Ginge.

I am off now my great friends.

Time to call it a day.

    see you all tomorrow.

Night Rico, Adam, Ginge, Steve and all the others.

  200. stevepalmer1 says:

In my mind not that i care that much, The differnce with Liverpool and Arsenal is the manager, Where Wengers wings have been clipped as far as money goes Liverpool have changed managers regulary and tried to buy success. their Managers have had names to follow and try as they might to get the fans on their side, Have failed. What has happened about Suarez Contract and the agreement between player and Manager i care not . Just hold your hand out and take the money and move on.

  201. arsenal11730 says:

Good point Adam on the income stream, matchday income stadium etc.
I believe Winning is the key differentiator, and they match, if not beat us on that front.
Bayern are Top of the pile because they are efficient, managed correctly within budget, and have ex players in important positions within rank. These directors have the Bayern crest imprinted on their heart, like the fans.
I wait for the day when Arsenal have a few REAL Gooners amongst our ranks, instead of the uppity snobs that believe the Arsenal Board should be a Gentlemens Club.

  202. stevepalmer1 says:

Got to dissagree with you 11730 Arsenal have the right people in all this Gooner through and through will only try and keep certain things in place, Football clubs excel when they are wealthy we are getting there by sponsership and sales the people in charge have found that careful spending on players has enabled Arsenal to move up. they have now put us in a position where we can compete with the normal clubs in the world. We wont be spending silly but we will start to move in the right direction and our finances will always be in check.

  203. asiangooner says:

Adam you are in top form today mate….. Loved ur comments. Why do people keep mentioning fellaini? Is he really going to add value for us? I really doubt it…. I do believe frimps could be really good for us provided wenger just tame him a bit!

  204. Micko says:

Busy on here today rico and not a signing in sight ! Pick up the ole dog and bone Arsene, reverse the charges if you have to !

Asiangooner, Fellani would be a great signing for us, there were big hopes for Frimps but another one who’s flattered to deceive, injuries didn’t help but his days are numbered, hasta la vista baby.

Dutch, good to see you back matey, missed ya postings, don’t get me wrong, kev’s alright in small doses.

  205. Scott from Oz says:

Good to hear from you Oz.
    Sorry about your pup, mate.
Hope everything is on the up for you ๐Ÿ™‚
    Morning guys.

  206. Scott from Oz says:

With Capoue going to Spuds and no interest (seemingly” in Fellaini, i bloody hope Wenger has his eyes on someone else.

  207. W.A.T.H says:

Scott I think you will be surprised in who we after….! also I would think quite happy…! Now it’s a matter of making sure we get him but that is never guaranteed…!

  208. Scott from Oz says:

    G’day Devil….how are you mate?
Just after 4pm here….what time is it in your part of the world?

  209. devilgunner says:

    Here its around 8.00am mate.

All fine here. But its going to be a freakingly hot day today. It will go up to 40 degrees around 13.00 to 15.00hrs.

  210. Scott from Oz says:

    Stay cool mate.
We are having some typically English weather of late ๐Ÿ™‚
    Drizzle, cold, gloomy.
I guess it can not be gorgeous all the time.
So who are we getting mate?
    Will the man eater arrive?
    Rooney?
    Cecs?

  211. devilgunner says:

    tbh I WANT….Cesc and Shrek.

    Not Suarez.

I cannot believe that AW will splash 50+million on one player when he has 70 million and can easily offer 35 million for Shrek and 30million for Cesc. That would mean two players not one.

but then AW borders on the foolishly insane during certain moments.

  212. Scott from Oz says:

Devil, i haven’t been on much of late, and am sure you will be repeating this, but why not Suarez?
Is it an attiude thing, or do you not believe he is suited to our style of play?
I am with you because i think at the price Rooney is better value, and Cesc would be 3x more affective now with us, i reckon, but Suarez would still add a great deal, i believe.

  213. devilgunner says:

Suarez the player is one of the best. I feel that had he been with a CL title winning squad, like Barca, Real, Chavs, Bayern etc he would have been a world great.

With us the PLAYER would also become a great. Time is still on his side and can do to us what Cantona did to Manure.

But as a PERSON I do not like him. The way he will be transferred to us will eventually have repercussions on our club and on transfer system in general.

Shrek will cost less and give us more I feel.

  214. devilgunner says:

I am a fickle person when it comes to who will play on the team sheet. I used to have good players sitting on the bench simply because they gave out negative vibes to the rest of the team.

And I feel that Suarez is a double edged sword. He might give the team a big lift, but will eventually be the one who might split the dressing room (hope I am wrong). Suarez is a slimy character. While Rooney may be a volatile character on the pitch and moody off it, Suarez carries with him that temperament with him and can be quite moody during the game to the effect that you are playing with a player less.

  215. Scott from Oz says:

If, and it is a big one, Wenger CAN weave his magic though, we will have one hell of a weapon, whichever player we get.

  216. Scott from Oz says:

    Rico….Lee……top of the morning guys.
Two days to go until my Bergkamp Bitter is bottled Rico.
The Pires Pilsener was a massive hit, as was the Highbury Heavy Ale.
Thierry is getting a run next…just need to finalise a style of beer and name ๐Ÿ™‚
A surprise is heading over for some HH regulars soon ๐Ÿ™‚
