Leaving already Santi? No Fabregas! Why do we keep missing out on top targets?

Morning all,

The logical answer to that is, because we weren’t ever interested in signing them in the first place.

There maybe many a piece of gossip in the newspapers, but I doubt they really know who Arsenal are hoping to sign, they just like to stir the pot!

Why?

Because they know that many of Arsenal fans are either at, or near the end of their tether, when it comes to the way we as a club do business in the transfer window. Just look at The Daily Mail headline this morning:

So where is Suarez, Rooney or Higuain? It’s Groundhog Day at Arsenal as we wait for a real statement of intent.

Are they idiots or are you starting to feel that way too?

Then there is the Cesc Fabregas saga. We have already missed out on him because he’s bound to prefer a move to Manchester than return to his old club. Er, hasn’t he said he wants to stay in Spain and play for his boyhood club? Yes!

So right now we haven’t missed out on him any more than we have missed out on Cesar, Jovetic, or any other name that pops up in the gossip column!

Talking of which, how many times have we ‘missed out’ on Yoan Gourcuff ?

Too many to mention I’d say and we could yet again. Suggestion is that Lyon want to include him in a deal to get Gervinho. Surely that won’t happen, Arsene Wenger seldom involves in deals which include another player, in fact I don’t recall any other than the Gallas/Cole swap. There was the Reyes/Baptisa loan deal, but when it came to selling Reyes, Baptista wasn’t involved.

Another bizarre story in the news today surrounds Santi Cazorla. Suggestion is that he has agreed personal terms with Atletico Madrid. Where that has come from is anyone guess but if is is poppycock as no doubt we all hope, I suspect we will hear very soon from the player or the club – Arsene Wenger is bound to be asked about ahead of our second friendly later on today….

13.10 we kick-off against Vietnam and it’s live on ESPN…

Jack Wilshere is fit and raring to go today and for the entire season, it’s a massive one for him, especially with the World Cup arriving at the end of it….

He wants to be there and England need him. So do Arsenal.

That’s it for another day…….

All very wearing isn’t it. No doubt this will cue the Cazorla to Spain and Cesc to us,which is a rumour only a rumour and speculation from Catalunya that Cesc comes back to us for a year on loan with a view to either a purchase or a waiver of our clause on his future sale. Just a rumour possibly fuelled by Estrella and mojitos.

  2. rico says:

Ha ha re the Estrella and mojitos potter, I see The Daily Mail have now a headline story on Santi and AM..

I thought he was happy with us..

  3. Scott from Oz says:

    Morning all.
We are actually interested in maybe 5% of the players we are linked with.
    Aaaggghhh, the media 🙂

  4. S2S says:

    What a funny day!!!!

@Rico: And Atletico have bid just 17.5million for Santi. They’re funny.

I am working today at the time of game so i hope to follow it via texts.

Btw what do you think would have more clicks on DM?

    A) Santi leaving or
    B) Arsenal agreeing deal for Gonzo, Kaka, Sahin for 30Mil?(Is Sahin still a Real player?)

  5. S2S says:

    @Rico,

Btw, I am still convinced that we already have got Gonzo and all this bull around is to help Real get Suarez at cheap.

  6. Scott from Oz says:

    Rico,
30 seconds is well and truly up.
If we can not rely on the Queen, who can we rely on?
    Very disappointing 🙂

  7. S2S says:

    @Scott:

I am with you on Gonzo. I think Santos is emptying #11 or Diaby has #2 for him.

Today it would say later we’re demanding 25M for him and by selling him we’ll fund our deal for Suarez.

Dirty Real are making us do dirty things.

But it would be worth it if we lend my favorite Kaka and with him Sahin and Gonzo all.

  8. Scott from Oz says:

I am not stressed at all over our “signings”.
    Suarez.
    Rooney.
    Fellaini.
    Higuain.
We are all complaining that they are not signed.
We are all speculating where they may end up.
The simple fact is they have signed with NOBODY, so are still available.

  9. S2S says:

Lets play a game about who predicts AW’s words on Santi most effectively. What do you think he’d say?

    I think he’ll say: I didn’t see it.

  10. S2S says:

    @Scott:

I really think if I have an option I’d rather have Sahin over MF. And I’d take Kaka any day in a heart beat. For me if we get those 3 for 30Mil that will be transfer window well utilized.

I think this is the year when Aneke/Frimpong steps in big time.

And I am indefinite over keeper so don’t know.

I just hope we get these 3.

  11. Canadian Gooner says:

Good morning to the Lady of the House and all fellow Gooners in residence.

Scott – Atletico are are UnReal’s poor cousins and cross-town rivals. A bit like Spuds are to us.

  12. Adam says:

    Morning Rico, Lee and all.
Arsenal should have identified who they wanted, steamed in and bought them. It’s ALL about money and prestige. We are tight with the first and have lost some of the second through our years of underachievement that came about through our years of underinvestment.
Things run full circle. For every player we seem to want there seems to be a more more lucrative and prestigious alternative. Arsene is walking that tightrope again. A new owner would have made all the difference methinks.

  13. tsgh says:

    Morning all, another exciting post.

Well… as the saying goes Malaga gooner has disciples.. and he is a role model for sports journos…

S2s, Sahin has rejoined BVB09, he featured against Real last spring…

  14. tsgh says:

In a Twitter Q&A, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis was asked if it were true that there were talks regarding Higuain, to which he replied: ‘It’s true.’

Its so easy for some whilst we pounce around like… a constipated fox

  15. S2S says:

@ts: That brilliant BR carried on with work of Jose and destroyed gem of a player. Had he come to us things might have been different.

So, its just Gonzo and Kaka for me. And instead of MF, I’d like to go for McCarthy from Wigan who I like to call Arteta 2.0.

We don’t even need to spend half the kitty we have if we can keep all of our players and go about our business quietly and with the sale of few and savings in wages of some we might very well balance our books once again.

  16. tsgh says:

Brazilian striker Eduardo has signed a two year deal with AC Ajaccio, he has returned to his native country for family reasons.

  17. tsgh says:

The difference between our board and BVB 09’s club president Hans-Joachim Watzke… Lewandowski is going to be allowed to leave for free next season even though he is appraoching his prime….

We could not wait to sell a 29 y.o striker…

  18. tsgh says:

I will take Gourchuff minus injury or kaka in a heart beat…

Very true s2s… he listened to mauren-ho

  19. tsgh says:

It seems like Zlantan is going to be following his old boss Carlito.

That will mean Suarez could be coming our way if IUnreal can agree a deal with PSG

  20. potter says:

Marca is a Spanish news organisation that has predominately been the mouthpiece of Real Madrid. It is a major part of Real’s tapping up system if they want to sound out a player and to pressure the selling club they will drop it into Marca so that it gets full media coverage. The British press cover their stories embellish them a little and hey presto a rumour/ story is born.

  21. S2S says:

    @Ts:

Kaka for me will be dream come true. If he comes to Arsenal and stays injury free and plays for AW, I am sure he’d make Brazilian WC team.

About RL, I think its because they have just made 42M on Mario Goetze and lost him to Bayern too.

  22. S2S says:

    @Ts:

Its all rubbish. At the end of Window, I think we’d read GH20 to Arsenal and Suarez to Real. All other is rubbish.

  23. Canadian Gooner says:

It’s a wonder that our betting odds wizard SYG hasn’t set up a Highbury House book on the outcome of these fantasies/lies/rumours/stories/transfers.

  24. Canadian Gooner says:

    I was wondering if the rumour that Cazorla has negotiated terms with Atletico Madrid was;

a.) The player or his agent angling for an improved contract at Arsenal (most likely Mr. 15%)
b.) The evil Francoista hierarchy at UnReal trying to stir things uo at Arsenal by having their tame media mouthpieces at Marca circulate

  25. tsgh says:

s2s… Graham Hunter the reliable British journo based in spain has confirmed on talk shite radio that RM are the one’s who pulled out of the Hig to Arsenal move…

He said that Arsenal’s nose has been firmly put out of joint, regarding Higuain.

He said weeks ago arsenal agreed a fee with RM and they gave arsenal permission to speak with Higuain- personal terms where done with the player. When all done and dusted RM decided to put the transfer fee up because they believe they could not get Cavani and so wanted more money to finance their other moves.

  26. Canadian Gooner says:

Ginge – UnReal’s president Perez has been very Machiavellian in his dealing with Arsenal and Higuain. I’m not sure what his endgame is, but his tactics could blowup in his face. Hopefully they do.

  27. S2S says:

Ts: I still think its Real’s dirty ploy to get Suarez and they’re holding us on ransom to get him.

  28. tsgh says:

Cg, I think Unreal want Hig to hand in a transfer request in order to ensure they pay him no 5 to 10% default fee…

Suarez will have to do the same in order to push through a deal…

There are rumours also that either Ajax or FC Groningen will get a small cut when Suarez is sold…

  29. tsgh says:

s2s, I think Carlito may not be keen on Suarez.. just a personal opinion… the 40M will get Zlatan…

  30. tsgh says:

John Cross has confirmed that the SC19 deal is untrue…

Enough of the transfer speculations, in 2 hours time our young boys and seniors will fave the Vietcong FC… m

I am looking forward to seeing JW and Olsson again… Aneke too 😉

  31. Canadian Gooner says:

Ginge – I too am interested to see the game from Viet Nam. The last game was definitely one of two halfs. The first half the team struggled to dictate pace and get any penetration. The second, we opened them up and as they tired we put them to the sword. Some of the Young Guns show real promise, but I think it will be a year or two more in Academy or on loan for most of them.

  32. Canadian Gooner says:

Ginge – I sometimes get the feeling your trying out material for your stad-up comedy act on Highbury House residents.

  33. tsgh says:

    🙂 that is an idea…

Adam only loves at Stan out jokes…

WATH will not laugh at my ageist jokes either…

Ak, well that is a different story…

  34. devilgunner says:

Good Afternoon Lady, Sir, Gentlemen and Ladies.

Back to the rumour monger mill and today its Santi’s turn. yaaawwwwnnnnnn. boring isnt it.

I do not give a shit who turns out in a red top…….all I want is 11 players who give their all.

  35. Adam says:

Anybody with a gut the size of Hunter’s, who tries to cram himself into a pair of jeans is totally delusional.
And that’s before the effluence pours out of his gob.

  36. tsgh says:

‘I do not give a shit who turns out in a red top…….all I want is 11 players who give their all.’… That is the spirit Mr Dev…

  37. Scott from Oz says:

Ginge, it must be the time delay 🙂
Quite often i read things on here……Utd rejecting Cheslkis bid, for example…that i have read several hours earlier.
Then again, quite often i read absolute crap earlier on, as well 🙂

  38. rico says:

Afternoon Devil, and everyone I missed earlier….

I agree Adam, especially in this heat 😉

    How much Ts?

  39. Adam says:

TS. Not true. I laugh at most stuff that comes out of Hunter and Balague’s mouth and I ignore fascists, anti semites and people who have too much to say about very little. Those two wallies get paid for their inside knowledge, but they don’t have any. They probably use The Bleacher Report or Metro as sources for all I know. I think they are a pair of detestable individuals. But I suppose they have to say something to justify their miserable and pointless existence. When I hear something I always wonder why it is being said before I think about what is actually being said. It has helped me to weed out the dickheads in my life.
You are right in one sense in that I would like to see the Kroenkes out of Arsenal but that seems to be looking increasingly unlikely. I believe their presence is to the detriment of the club.

  40. Scott from Oz says:

Adam, at least with me you know there is no reason i say anything, because it just comes out 🙂

  41. tsgh says:

Scott, re news… you are probably right. Most news have to go through a certain floor in London or in the SW of england before it gets released.

As an example the news of F1 boss being indicted by German investigators is 2 weeks old.. but is breaking news now in the UK

  42. Canadian Gooner says:

Rico – Squilli is going to the same club he couldn’t come to terms with in January. I wonder what has changed in the last six months? Wink wink, nudge nudge.

  43. Adam says:

Every time I see the words El Presidente I expect someone is going to be shot.
I have a long list of candidates.

  44. Canadian Gooner says:

Rico – One report said Chelski had offered 1o million plus either of Mata or Luiz for Woonie.

  45. NashuaGunners says:

    Good Afternoon Rico and All.

The rumours are what make the transfer window so interest. If AW had identified the players he wanted with a backup, just in case he misses on the first options, IG and Law should have get the deal done and take the boys with them on the trip so that they can bedded in with the others just like last season. Everyone says the money is there to spend, so what’s the holdup??

Every club hold there ace closer to there chest and look out for the highest bidders to step up, RM is no difference. They change their words if they can ups the price to get more out of any club that is interested. We just have to be patience.

  46. Adam says:

NG. Arsenal always behave like gentlemen and let the other clubs have their pick first. It’s the decent thing to do.

  47. emma says:

CG – I think it’s the media stirring that story up. Man united will be so stupid not to accept 10M + mata/luiz and chelsea will be so stupid to sell mata. I think Manutd are forcing wooney thru the exit door and if I were him after Moyes and directors comment I will be confused

  48. Adam says:

I wonder if Mata and Luiz have always had a burning desire to play for Moyes?
After all he does play pure-antfootball mixed with a large element of the long ball, stirred into a soupçon of pure violence.

  49. NashuaGunners says:

Adam. Arsenal is class. They don’t come that easy. We saw almost the same with Mata when Chelsea step up there bid.

btw, your 3:07 yesterday was a firm tackle, you didn’t even gave a room to respond. That took me straight to the treatment table. 🙂

  50. rico says:

Thought you were quite mild for you Adam 😉

Ts – thanks, looks like he could end up there though.. Suarez to Real and we get left with nobody….

  51. Canadian Gooner says:

emma – I’m just passing it along. As we all know 90+% (insert your own number) of all these stories is pure male bovine manure. If true though, how are Mata and Luiz going to feel about it. Cash plus player deals are difficult to put together.

  52. emma says:

So manure gave the press wrong info about 2 chelsea players. Chelsea have now come out firing they made a bid

  53. NashuaGunners says:

As Scott said the other day, if true, AW himself said the money is there to spend for any player that would make us compete. And if he fail to get those players that we badly in need of, he will lose many fans support, including myself.

  54. tsgh says:

Lewis… I thought you knew… Bellerin joined us on a guarantee that in 2 seasons he will be in the first team. He will be understudy to CJ25…

  55. tsgh says:

What a pass from Serge… he looks better than my man Gerv already… final ball at least. Both Ivorians too…

  56. tsgh says:

We are having problems in CM though… we need to buy someone for that position because without AR16 we look very porous.

Dhabi and Frimps may offer something but their recent injury records makes them very unreliable…

  57. tsgh says:

All the polish sausages are taken a toll on Poldi… 😉

It must be very hot on a serious note…

  58. rico says:

Comical defending by us then too. Shocking!

I thought Serge was German Ts 😉

3-0 and all Giroud…. Better from Ox..

  59. tsgh says:

Rico, Ox acted the same way against Chelsea last September when he came on for Diaby. Kos asked him to take a position and he told kos to F off… just before Torres scored…

  60. emma says:

I told u Sagna can do a good job at CB. Giroud is deadly with 1 touch but when it gets to 2/3 touches he misses. Gnabry is staking a claim to replace Gerv. We need to keep Rosicky fit right from the start of the season. Ox did very well in the box-box. Love to see wilshere, zelalem, kristof, ryo, akpom in the 2nd half and of course Ramsey

  61. devilgunner says:

    yes and no Ginginho.

we are good going forward. Giroud is dangerous. Pododolski and Gnabry are working their socks off.

But the midfield leaves a lot to be desired. Especially when we are defending.

  62. Adam says:

I envy you the live feed Rico. I have to construct the game within the narrow on fines of my addled brain.

  63. rico says:

Yes Ts, I recall that little outburst from Ox…

emma, he has one of his best games last season at CH….

  64. devilgunner says:

there he goes again………Vietnam do not offer too much.

SR, good thing you are not near me. I have a saucepan ready in my hand.

  65. devilgunner says:

    one of the Viet players………..

Fat win sah FAT WIN SIR

    Another one………..

Fak Mi Lung (erm make your own conclusions)

  66. devilgunner says:

Tea Pot shows us how much fast he is by running more than the ball and having to go back and collect it. 😆

  67. tsgh says:

Dev, the midfield really worries me… especially defensively… its like swiss cheese.

    What a finish Akpom

  68. Adam says:

I can’t get off the couch Rico and the computer is in my hovel upstairs. I am so excited at the prospect of seeing the kids this year, I fear incontinence.

  69. devilgunner says:

    Wilshere on for the OX.

What I like about Zelalem is that he has an inbuilt awareness of where are the others around him. Sort of radar which gives him a 360 degree vision. He knows what he is going to do with the ball two or three passes before he gets the ball.

  70. tsgh says:

Ramsey has taken over the DM role and things like slightly better…

or maybe the Viets are knackered 😉

  71. rico says:

But if they didn’t play their part Adam, the first team would be exhausted and probably pick up injuries… I’m glad they out there getting time in Arsenal colours..

You are such a grumpy old toad! 😉

  72. emma says:

Vietnamese are now seeing triple. Too much creativity on the pitch for them to handle. Ryo is a long way from being fit

  73. devilgunner says:

Every time AFC keep a clean sheet the players should remind the opponents that T M Dung managed to score against us with a flying kick.

  74. devilgunner says:

Looney Tunes surely was not fit. Not even for the Vietnam team.

The players now are disinterested. They just want the time to pass.

  75. devilgunner says:

yes Rico it was a flying miss-hit at that.

    but lets all glorify it

The ref is a WANKER with all letters capital……why send the keeper off with just a couple of minutes remaining???

  76. tsgh says:

Possibly… I think the issue is deeper than a buy only… but I agree except not £20M… £12M at most.

    good performance… going forward

  77. devilgunner says:

Refs should apply common sense in games such as this one. 7-1 up. A friendly.

why give a yellow for the celebration or send the keeper off? its not as if the actions hurt someone did they?? no dangerous tackles or things like that that warrant a red or yellow.

  78. devilgunner says:

I am off now my friends.

Time to help the missus with the shopping now.

she spends and I pay 😉

  79. Lee says:

The squad has qualidee and ze mental srengthh so I’m buy absolutely no one!! You heard it here first!! 😉

  80. emma says:

Akpom has great movement in the box. Don’t think Wenger would have bought Sanogo after seeing Akpom in pre-season. Wenger is seeing £££$$£ sign in Zelalem

  81. tsgh says:

Really Emma?; Hulk… that must have been sanctioned by Mg…

Indeed Emma, its more like Dick Law getting a $1m commission for bringing him over to us… 😛

  82. tsgh says:

Digne is moving to PSG… a sweet left foot he has… watch out for him.

    Mkhitaryan moving to BVB09

  83. emma says:

tsgh – Indeed resp. hulk 😆

Mikhitaryan has already signed for BVB 3 wks ago. Scored 2 goals 2 assist in their last 2 friendly. Twisted his ankle in BVB last friendly, out for 4wks

  84. Canadian Gooner says:

I have to agree with emma, Ryo did not look fit, but the biggest disappointment of the night was Theo’s shooting, if you could call it that. Certainly no endorsement for him to play at CF.

  85. emma says:

CG – Monaco and PSG have taken over from where Shitty and the chavs left off. Where is FFP when you need it?

  86. Canadian Gooner says:

emma – Better that Hulk is with Monaco in Ligue Un than in the PL. That means we don’t have to watch him very often.

  87. rico says:

Manure Chief exec has left their tour to return to the club to sort out ‘urgent transfer business’…..

  88. Canadian Gooner says:

emma – I see Happy Harry was quoted as saying QPR weren’t going to snction any loan moves for Cesar.

  89. rico says:

I still hope he is coming to Arsenal and that tweet a few weeks ago had more to it than we thought….

  90. agirlagunner says:

Adam, your standards are slipping… Capital letter fail. Tut tut. 😛 😛

Hiya, rico. Howdy? And you, emma?

Brother CG, good to see him taking his chances, and taking them well. 🙂 Ginge, he does, doesn’t he? 😳

  91. tsgh says:

The question is who do Man U fear the most… a team finishing 4th with the same manager or an arrogant manager with potential to win the leave.

Will the man ure fans feel better if he came to us or to the chavs… or are they looking for more money…

Is it not interesting that we Arsenal fans moan about transfers but Man U have the money and the will but they can’t seem to attract young talent… except theey are from the north 🙂

Moura, Thiago, Pjanic, Bender all refuted a move…

  92. tsgh says:

Where is the green party… why can’t they complain about all the unnecessary flights man u are involved in…

  93. agirlagunner says:

rico, I’m wathcing the stream on the website. Theo looks super rusty. Maybe v. Japan, he would fare better.

You taken a peek at Giroud’s thighs, too?? 🙂

  94. tsgh says:

We need signings… at least 1 in DM asap…

is it not funny how the board were able to force or should I say coerce AW to go on tour but they can’t convince him to make a signing… 😉

  95. Canadian Gooner says:

Sister AGAG – There is no need to objectify our players, that is sexism. You could upset some of the gentlemen on here who are of a more sensitive nature and have delicate sensibilities.

  96. agirlagunner says:

CG, hahaha. In Giroud’s case, there is every need for objectification. 😛

emma, you mean Cesc to United?? Surely, he won’t. 😕

  97. Canadian Gooner says:

emma – I hope it is Woonie outward bound, even if it is to Chelski, and not Cesc inbound. The latter would surprise me.

  98. rico says:

Totally agree re the DM, even against a weak side today and with Arteta in the side to begin with, we were all over the place in the middle of the pitch…

And, I still think Ramsey is wasted playing deep…

    Just my opinion though 😉

CH – good to see you pop back…

  99. rico says:

Oh, and a very fast, low flying helicopter was in the area where I live today…

And we all know who is staying with her Mum very close to where I am….

A Royal baby is on it’s way me thinks…….

  100. Adam says:

Agag. As you know, a capital letter omission can change the meaning of a sentence completely. I have examples.
I was so hot today I bought a pair of shoes that I didn’t really need. Always the best way I think. 🙂

  101. agirlagunner says:

Haha, Adam. I’m sure you bought another pair of red trousers though. In any case your 4:23 that about sums up my day. 😀

    rico, really?? I hope it’s a girl. 🙂 🙂

  102. Canadian Gooner says:

AGAG – I shall leave the fairer sex to make the case for Giroud or any other player that takes their fancy.

  103. Adam says:

Agag. I have all the red trousers I need. Too many some might say. All the shoes too. I was just looking and a particular pair caught my eye. I couldn’t work out if the wedges suited me so I went ultra conservative. They do match my cravat and posing pouch though.

  104. C Hills says:

    rico: Reason I popped back.
Emma: We don’t need cesc urgently but, based on his talents and what it would cost us to get him, its a no brainer.

  105. Canadian Gooner says:

Rico & AGAG – Boy or girl, it matters not, as long as it is healthy and has the right parts in all the right places and everthing works properly.

  106. agirlagunner says:

Suarez and Fellaini and Cesc wouldn’t be a bad summer. 🙂

CG, res ipsa loquitur re: Giroud. 😀

    Hello, C Hills.

  107. Adam says:

Despite the overwhelming positivity of my post yesterday, I am beginning to grow more despondent now.

  108. tsgh says:

50% of the profit they make… Rico

A bid has been placed for the captain of Vietnam Pham Thanh Luong. The president of the country says she will call parliament to discuss the bid. It has to be good for all parties it was said…

  109. Canadian Gooner says:

Rico – There is a difference of opinion on that. Some saying Arsenal get 50% of the fee and others saying they get 50% of the profit.

  110. emma says:

Keep Rosicky fit all season and we are in for the title ;). If i were Wenger i would break the bank for Suarez and forget about Higuain. This guy creates something out of nothing just like the greedy dutchman. Get in a top class DM and we are talking about the CL 😉

  111. tsgh says:

😀 Mauren-ho… nothing is secret anymore… they have used the Ashley cole move again on wooney…

Rico, yesterday you thought it is not about money with Wooney; do you still believe that? 😉

Wooney is confused because he is 27 y.o has 2 years more on a 25ok pw contract and he wants man u to negotiate pronto…

it takes a nurse at least 10 years to make 250k he is complaining about…

  112. rico says:

Lee – did you watch Luther last night 🙁

CH, oops, of course and thanks, we do like to have fun here as well as get stroppy over Arsenal 😉

Cg, well said, and of course it matters not, you are right, as long as she/he is healthy, that’s all what matters…

  113. Canadian Gooner says:

Sister AGAG – You tax me. My Latin lessons were long long ago, even then I the a scholar who declined to conjugate. You obviously remember more &/or were a better student than me. Alas, not a difficult task.

  114. tsgh says:

I am with you Emma… even Benteke will do…

A striker is not crucial at the moment we can wait with Suarez as he will not even play until mid september by the latest.

capoue or Medel or the saints guy is a must though…

Arteta looks dreadful when Ramsey is not next to him…

Aneke may be used instead as a DM I think. I guess the reason AW is using him as a CB. He has the brains to play there too, not mentioning the physical strength.

Does anyone know when frimps is back?

  115. rico says:

Ts, I’m not sure I did, I think I said ‘if’ its only about money he’ll go to the chavs…

  116. agirlagunner says:

CG, I agree. 🙂 I hope baby and mum are fine. 🙂

C Hills, you sounded like our blogger Goonie just now. 😀

  117. Adam says:

I am afraid I think that, as we stand, we are a top 6 side. We know we will have injuries. Take Kos and Giroud out and we are up shit creek without the proverbial. For me we need 3 top signings plus a quality CB. The chances that Rosicky will remain fit for the season are very low in my opinion.

  118. agirlagunner says:

CG, “let the ‘thing’ speak for itself.” Because I was “objectifying”, it seemed apt. 😛

  119. Canadian Gooner says:

Ginge – Suarez will probably cost more initially, but I think we would get more seasons out of him and his wages would be significantly less. I prefer Suarez over Woonie, even if we have to make him wear a muzzle on field.

  120. Adam says:

I would pay what these teams want to get the right players. We have taken it royally from the club for far, far too long. TS. Rooney is worth more than that surely.

  121. Canadian Gooner says:

AGAG – Yes, I got there in the end, but it was a struggle. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Some on here were saying his vast improvement may be due to his new haircut, the reverse of Sampson.

  122. rico says:

If it is the fee Cg, Manure will have to offer a lot more than they have for Barca to be in profit….

  123. rico says:

Ts, I think Manure would want more than that having paid what they did for the old badger…

    Suarez is valued at £40M

Rooney, being an Englishman, could be similar…

  124. rico says:

He did Ch, but then the old badger always claimed to be happy at Arsenal…

One thing is for sure, the nest few days/weeks are going to be interesting and now it’s time for Gazidis to back up all his (Kroenkes) words….

  125. tsgh says:

If wooney is 40M do we think it is smart to spend £10M a year (at least) on him a year with all his fitness issues?

With suarez I can’t stand the man but at least if he complains next summer we can get our money back when he is sold… just my opinion.

  126. tsgh says:

indeed… IG has to back his own words…

As I mentioned earlier, we all know AW was against the tour but he was forced into it… why can’t the board do that when it comes to not saving £2m on a player… if we go with all the rumours about AW’s alleged unwillingness to spend?

  127. agirlagunner says:

Adam, you on capital letter cop mode?. 😛

CG, Giroud’s hairstyle looks the same as Rambo’s. Everyone in the team should get a haircut if it means playing better.

Shrek for £40M is a bit steep. But then again, the Chavs have money to burn.

    C Hills, Goonie’s a mad Dutchman. 😀

  128. rico says:

Good question Ts, but look at the old badger, once he moved, he missed few games, similar to cesc after he left us. He was so often injured yet a new club and he was playing..

Rooney might just be pissed off and in need of a new challenge…

And the statement we would make by signing him would be huge…

  129. Canadian Gooner says:

Rico – I think we would make a bigger statement with Hannibal the Cannibal than we would with Shrek. Suarez is the better player and if Chelski want Woonie, they will overbid us.

  130. tsgh says:

😀 Ch.. i like you already… a poor man’s goonie aka goonster you are! 😛

just don’t turn into my other favourite Micko or the mad hatter Malaga gooner…
    —————————————–
Sometimes a change is good and maybe he needs it;but 250k for wooney plus 40m is a bit steep as mentioned before by Agag. He would want at least 4 years… at 12M a year that would be over 88M. As much as i like wooney I can’t see him playing aged over 30 years.

note, sports analysts are able to use data such as lung capacity and body composites to predict the stamina of an athlete for the future. Man U are not serious about him because they know something we fans are not privy to…

Statement of intent? I doubt that judging from the views from the man u blogs… at least in my view. Don’t get me wrong he is the type of big game player we need but i guess that is why i am not rich… i am not ambitious enough.

  131. rico says:

Its the English slant Cg, and the fact we would finally sign a top player from them…

As for the Chavs, if Rooney really doesn’t want to go to them, he will just say no…

Just like what happened with the old badger….

  132. Canadian Gooner says:

AGAG – I think Adam is working out his agression, due the tension generated by his creaping pessimism over Arsenal’s transfer dealings or lack thereof, by being the Word Police. As long as he doesn’t progress to becoming the Thought Police we should be alright. Just mind your Ps & Qs, dot your Is, cross your Ts, and use the correct capitalization, spelling, syntax & tense. I’m sure I’ve forgotten something. If I have Adam will pick it up.

  133. Adam says:

Agag. You know I am a stickler for accuracy. 🙂 Capitals are important, don’t you agree? 🙂

  134. Adam says:

CG. True. Consider, if you will the following two sentences, differentiated only by a single capital letter.

I helped my friend Jack off his horse.
I helped my friend jack off his horse.

A little sudden perhaps and quite unpleasant.

  135. Canadian Gooner says:

Ginge – I have read a number of articles about the Woonie saga on some of the ManUre fansites. They aren’t that upset about the possibility of losing him, but are upset about how he is going about it and similarly with his previous contract negotiations a couple of years ago.

  136. tsgh says:

Interesting interview with JW… discussing frimps and other youngsters. He mentioned how Frimps was the best and midfield ‘dominator’ but injuries.

  137. tsgh says:

Cg, you are right re Wooney and the utd blogs…

If you go back even 2 years back the views are the same… but Wooney is a big game player who performs when needed.

  138. agirlagunner says:

CG, we must be on our tippy toes now, or Adam will be handing us yellow and red cards. 😀

    Adam, eewwww. 😛

emma, it is in everyone’s best interest that Santos goes. And soon!!

  139. Canadian Gooner says:

AGAG – I was afraid of that. Unfortunately for me, I have forgotten many of the rules. Maybe if we Arsenal buys a great player he will settle down.

  140. Adam says:

    Night Rico.
    Agag. 🙂
CG. I am holding a watching brief. 🙂
You are right though. A biggie signing would cause me to break out the red trousers. I know Agag is fascinated with my casual attire, particularly the velvet smoking jacket and cravat.

  141. C Hills says:

rico @5:04: mercs all over the turf.
AGAG @5:10: how come Goonie is not a flying dutch man?
Replies coming late cos of work, sorry.

  142. Canadian Gooner says:

Adam – My family emigrated to Canada when I was seven. For the most part, I was educated here (well as best they could) and have been here ever since, excepting vacations. So, I consider myself a Canadian and so does our government as they granted me citizenship.

  143. Canadian Gooner says:

Adam – AGAG is fascinated by clothing, especially shoes. However, her joy seems to be more in the buying of them than in the wearing of them.

Is your velvet smoking jacket a matching colour to your pants or a contrasting one? You must strike quite the Beau Brummel charcter when fully attired and accessoried.

  144. agirlagunner says:

Your sartorial choices are… erm… intriguing to say the least, Adam. 😛 Not to mention your shoes.

CG, I have friends from primary school who live in Canada now. They like it much better than the US of A. 🙂

Good night, Lady rico, a bit too early for Stella. 😛

C Hills, you have to come back and meet the rest of the bloggers. Kev the Shopper, Lee, Rocky, Oz, WATH, KT, Dutch, Goonster et al.

We have a good mix in here. 🙂

  145. C Hills says:

AGAG: Oz? The wizard? Btw, where u from? (Your mention of primary sch. triggered the question).

  146. Canadian Gooner says:

Adam – I haven’t been back yet. I would like to and plan to do it in the next year or two. I have a number of cousins scattered throughout Britain who I keep in touch with and would like to see.

My older son was over in London, just before the end of last season, to visit his best friend. His mate used to live a few blocks from Highbury, but now lives in East London. His mate told my son that he is surprised I haven’t been over yet as he is well aware the family are all Gooners. The two of them caught a game when he was over before.

  147. Canadian Gooner says:

Gtid – It is a public forum and as long as you follow the House rules, you are welcome.

  148. Canadian Gooner says:

JM – Good Evening. No, we haven’t signed anyone new. So, situation normal. THis could drag on for a few more weeks.

Surely you can find a better game to watch.

  149. W.A.T.H says:

CH only house rulz are you not allowed to use the “C” word and abuse of others on here is a no no anything else goes, we don’t all agree on things at all but we always discuss and debate and thats what makes it fun on here..! Morning CG, Evening Potter…

  150. Adam says:

CG. Just back from dinner. Well, I live to the East of London too and cut a dashing figure in my ruffle shirt, velvet smoking jacket and red satin trousers sitting atop my suede brothel creepers.
Just to mention that, should you find your way here then please let us know and the HHCC will convene in your honour for a pleasant evening and some curry together. We are presently awaiting SYG and of course our friend Agag who has promised to come when she can. I already have my outfit planned for the occassion and in her honour. 🙂

  151. Adam says:

Oh Wath sort of half made it once but we feel his presence at every meeting. He is, as we say in North London, ” One of your own”. 🙂

  152. W.A.T.H says:

I am always there in spirit Adam, did i just say spirit, oh ok make it a double then… The Force is strong in this one…! 😉

  153. Canadian Gooner says:

CH – Potter gave you the short version. For the full version see the About Us/Rules tab just below the banner at the top of the page.

As the banner states “Where it’s ok to disagree”. If you disagree with an article or posted comment, state your objections, reasons for the objections and/or offer your alternate take/views on the subject. Do NOT make personnal attacks, keep it civil. It can get heated occassionally, but Rico and the other residents will step in to cool it down.

Many of the regulars residents know each other fairly to very well, so do not always take everything we say at face value. A lot of what is said is tongue-in-cheek or outright cheek; much like banter between friends, which many of them are. It wont take long to catch on and we’re a generally friendly group. I had my knuckles wrapped a couple of times, when I was new to the House and mounted my elevated equine, only to find out they were just being humerous.

  154. W.A.T.H says:

It will be a lengthy afternoon of alcoholic proportions Adam 😉 The pleasure will be mine mate, long overdue..!

CG, we never mentioned the mounties once…!

  155. W.A.T.H says:

I just have to make sure I don’t let Lee lead me astray Adam… he tends to make me drink copious amounts…!

  156. Adam says:

I am off for the evening Housers. I have a strong feeling in my bones that there will be no news tomorrow.
Until then. See you Agag, Wath, CG, Potter and CH.
    Nighty!

  157. Canadian Gooner says:

Adam – Thank you! I have seen the Curry Club calling meetings in the past. I notice one or two members like Rocky have been absent for a while.

W.A.T.H – Good Evening to you.

  158. Adam says:

Wath. Lee is my brother from another Mother. But a finer Gent I have not met.
    Same with Kev and Rocky.

    Gone now…..

  159. W.A.T.H says:

Adam cheers mate, have a good evening and I think you could be right, I have a feeling things will become “interesting” from next monday…!

  160. W.A.T.H says:

I think all this transfer talk is now getting to the stage where the key factors in the market are falling into place…! Things are now going to start to happen clubs are starting to show their hands and the intentions are being made on who they want…! Now the 2/3 stupid transfers have happened the domino effect can kick in..!

  161. Canadian Gooner says:

W.A.T.H – The Mounties and most other referances to to things ‘colonial’ seems to be the purview of AK.

It has been a long and diappointing day, no positive transfer news. While I have enjoyed my time in the House, I must bid you all Good Night.

  162. W.A.T.H says:

Am off as well CG, news is just slow mate just a shame the media seem to spin in in the negative and always in our direction but never point fingers elsewhere..!

    Have a good evening mate.

  163. C Hills says:

Thanks @ all for the heads up. Whoever takes whatever arsenal fans say at face value well, that person is uninitiated.

    NC.

  164. allezkev says:

Ah, I see that that Mountie has buggered off… 😉

Haven’t seen any of the VC game, but you cannot knock another seven goals.
All the youngsters are gaining valuable experience, expossure and confidence. A few of them may well have an important part to play in the forthcoming season…
Akpom, Gnabry, Miquel, it’s all very encouraging…

  165. allezkev says:

    Rooney to Chelski…

    Fabregas to ManUre…

    Negredo to Shittie…

    Higuain to Napoli…

    Suarez to ????????

    Fellaini to ????????

Rico to pay me a Fiver……

  166. allezkev says:

The only thing that’ll be happening on Monday, is that most of us will be starting another week…

    Arsenal transfers Wath?….

    Fantasy Island mate.

    Night all.

  167. rico says:

    Kev.

    Rooney to Arsenal
Fabregas to stay in Spain or to Arsenal
    Suarez to Arsenal
    Capoue/similar to Arsenal…

    That’s my fiver safe 😉

    Morning all….

  168. Adam says:

Morning Rico. I like your predictions.
I see Moyes has had more Botox. I predict lip implants next.

  169. devilgunner says:

CH the 60 million for Bale is in the now now defunct Italian Lira…..which means around £12,000. But since it is now obsolete and has no currency value that would mean ZILCH

I am enjoying the £5 dangling to and fro.

KEv………….just get a fiver and deposit it into a Paddy Power account and start betting a bit. That way you might win the money and you can pay Rico with the money you make from that fiver. 😉

Good Morning Lady, Sir, Gentlemen and Ladies.

  170. Adam says:

Well, Graham Hunter says the he can’t cram his gut into a pair of Levi’s with a 40 inch waist. While Guillem Balague reckons he can gnaw through a 4 inch tree branch is less than 4 minutes.

  171. C Hills says:

DG, I have seen enough of Bale to know that he is nowhere near that amount…El Nino and Andy C.

  172. C Hills says:

Just hope Wenger values him as much, rico. I really wouldn’t mind having Suarez as an arsenal player.
    Are we in a recession?
