Lars Bender or Granit Xhaka next in? Ten years of Theo Walcott.

Morning all.

So this is what Arsene Wenger calls a ‘busy’ transfer window, just one player signed in Mohammed Elneny. Not knocking the new man but when the manager made public he was going to be busy, I thought he’d have signed another player too by now especially when one considers Mathieu Debuchy is quite likely to leave. As many have already said though, he’s under contract and unless the manager has a played lined up ready to come in this month, he should be told to stay put until the summer when Arsene Wenger has more time to sort out a replacement. We know how long it takes Arsenal to get a transfer over the line!

One player who has no intention of leaving is Nacho Monreal who has now signed a new long-term contract and he’s more than happy. Talking to the Arsenal Player he said:

I’m really happy because my intention was to keep playing for Arsenal, I feel really good playing here.

I have a good relationship with my team-mates and we keep improving year after year. I wanted to stay here and I could extend my contract. I would like to play here for many more years.

The trust of the Arsenal fans is really important for us because they are helping us in every moment as we are fighting to win the Premier League.

All sorts of rumours were thrown around in the media and other outlets suggesting our left-back was ready to slip off quietly back to Spain for an easy life but no, he’s staying put in what is possibly the most physical league in football and I don’t know an Arsenal fan who isn’t happy that he is.

It’s funny though how certain players have the inner fight in them to claim a starting place, or just the patience to wait for their chance and when it comes, take it with both hands. Monreal did just that but Debuchy isn’t prepared to challenge Hector Bellerin yet he’s older, wiser and certainly more experienced. If he truly believes he should be playing ahead of the young Spaniard, stay and prove it.

Saying that though, talking to the media and suggesting the manager has been telling porkies about his playing time, is hardly going to help his cause….

Walcott

Ten years ago today Theo Walcott signed for Arsenal FC and right now he’s possibly the current days Mr Marmite. On his day he can be outstanding but when he’s off his game, boy he can be Mr Frustrating….

Here’s some of his best moments.

I wouldn’t write him off just yet..

Finally a bit of gossip:

The Daily Telegraph report that Lars Bender and Granit Xhaka are next on Arsene Wenger transfer list. They even go as far to suggest both might end up at Arsenal…

Now that would be a busy transfer window…

Have a good day guys…

I still say theo ll excel in a more direct team. We pass the ball about too much he’s wasted out there. No offense but put theo in front of that Madrid liverpool or even spuds*hawks and spits * team and watch him score 25 goals every season. Theo ll have excelled with the invisibles not this current tiki taka crap.

    morning rico and goonie
    Happy New Year
i still think we will sign a forward, i have a feeling it will be the lad from dortmund

  3. goonster says:

MG sign a striker when we have welbeck and Sanchez coming back??? I don’t think so. You confuse us with Madrid mate 😀 we re done with this window. We ll get 2 players in the summer and that’s it for a while. Striker says MG lol 😀

  4. malaga gooner says:

rico if we could get a great forward in this window we will walk the league,im still not sure giroud and theo are the ones that will lead us towards the title

  5. goonster says:

MG don’t even get your hopes up. We are not signing auba or nolito. As a matter of fact I doubt if we ll sign any striker in the foreseeable future. Welbeck Sanchez theo Campbell???? We re made 😀 lol so do yourself a favor amigo and let it go.

  6. goonster says:

Tell that to wenger MG lol you and I know how he thinks. This is a guy that didn’t sign a defensive midfielder because he “reasoned ” chambers Rambo and even Wilshire can play there. We won’t be signing any striker MG. Let it go lol

  7. rico says:

He’s young, tall, strong and the leagues leading goal scorer. He’s only going to get better and Everton want to keep him..

Exactly the reason why they value him at £65m….

Didn’t say he was worth it goonster, just understand why he’d be valued at such a high price…

  8. Wavy says:

    Strikers?
    Bent? Kalou?
Having Bent and Bender in the same team would be amusing, especially as we are the ARSE anl!!?

Morning all. Bright sunny and sort of warm in a 5c kind of way.

  9. goonster says:

Still no reason why he’s worth that much. The market has gone crazy. 35 for Sanchez looks like the buy of the century then!!! Christ help us.

  10. goonster says:

Wavy 😀 don’t start now mate it’s too early in morning. Lol bent and bender hahahahahaha that’s hilarious.

  11. Wavy says:

Lukaku is a monster. And another example of the poisonous pygmy’s lack of judgement! Bought at huge expense by the chavs, for an 18 year old, sold at a profit, a small profit to Everton who have ‘developed’ him and made him into the monster that he is today. And what’s more it hasn’t taken them or him long. At 22 he has years of top class football in front of him. He may not be Messi but he’ll mess up a lot of opponents in the future.
Have to say I’d have him at Arsenal as a replacement for Le Quiff any time soon. Not for £65m though!

  12. bradster says:

Ha ha Wavy. We could get Dixon, Dickov and Dicks as coaches and sign Buttland from Stoke. We’ll have the full complement if you add Seaman to the mix.

  13. goonster says:

Lol Lee you re a clown 😀 Adam cheers mate we re doing alright just dropped her off at her grand ma’s.

  14. Adam says:

Stan. Kev is famous in London as the Twerking Cabbie. The way he does a U turn into oncoming traffic while shaking his booty is stupendous. 🙂

  15. andrewh1313 says:

Afternoon, good post rico. I actually believe Arsene meant a ‘Busy Transfer Window’ in general for clubs rather than at Arsenal. Seriously! I would have choked on my breakfast otherwise.

  16. tsgh says:

    Afternoon all,

If the media have their way, AW will go from having a midfield predominantly made up of attacking midfielders to unit of defensive midfielders… 🙂

  17. goonster says:

Still can’t get that picture out of my mind Lee hahahahahah kev twerking on London streets. That ll be a sight 😀 hey ts what’s good homie?

  18. allezkev says:

Stan, have a look on You Tube, I’m on there, having a twerk, just before that multiple pile up on the A406

  19. Micko says:

Kev, no easy way to break this but the tiger suit may have to go back into the wardrobe again…..another false dawn.

  20. allezkev says:

There was a time, when the Daily Telegraph was held in a certain degree of respect, because when it reported something, you could rely on the professionalism of its journalists and that they had done the proper research before publication….

Now the Daily Telegraph is a load of shit like the majority of the Press and reports the same old crap.

It’s transfer stories are on a per with any tacky tabloid, and are usually less reliable.
I wouldn’t take a blind bit of notice about anything they report…

The days of the Telegraph being a serious sports newspaper are long gone…

As for the Lars Bender story, well despite the usual jokes, that rumour is well past its sell by date, and deserves to be treated with utter contempt….

    So I’ll do that… ?

    Night All

  21. Orfevrerie says:

Good comment on tabloid crap there, Kev.

If Daily and Telegraph wasn’t reliable news anymore, can you imagine how low the level of Metro and Caught Offside. All garbage regarding transfer news only gossip.

  22. Orfevrerie says:

    In summary of that article:

So, in terms of what are Arsenal doing differently this season, the answer statistically is very little. That is in no way a criticism, quite the opposite in fact, because Arsenal are sustaining a high performance level. The fact they are in such a position of strength without significantly improving suggests that quality at the top of the league has regressed from recent standards and rather than the title opportunity that currently being about what Arsenal are doing differently, perhaps it would be more appropriate to ask what can they do differently. Can Arsenal make the step up in order to ensure that this opportunity does not pass them by.

    It’s a big question.

The integrity of the press?? It got lost from the first edition of the ‘Thunderer’ ! The journos’ creed is, and always has been, “don’t let the truth get in the way of a good story,” and they don’t. From front page to back most stories are either a tissue of lies or a construction of make believe. Gullibly we fall into their thrall and become willing participants in the papers’ “truths”! We shouldn’t but we do!

Morning all. Bright, sunny and very, very white here.

  24. potter says:

Road outside is a skating rink . I gave up on the papers years ago ,broadsheets and the wannabee Red tops . I used to work in Ludgate Circus and you could see most of the reporters of that time in the pubs around the area, God knows where they got their stories from but maybe they popped into St Pauls and got them in the whispering gallery.
