Kos out for how long and Giroud off………

Well it seems Laurent Koscielny’s back injury has flared up again and he is a major doubt for the weekend game against Stoke. Why was he even with the French squad with the knowledge that his back was still not 100%..? Common sense out the window yet again it seems.

We will have to hope the BFG has now go over his tummy bug and is fully fit and healthy. Against Stoke him and Gabriel should be ideal for any long ball tactics but we’ll have to see.

Giroud was taken off for France the other night and the french fans apparently were not impressed with his performance and he was booed off the pitch. Amazingly some are blaming Arsenal fans for his lack of confidence and poor showing for France…? Really……. How so..? Do me a favour what utter nonsense. Giroud has started the season ok for us, scored a great goal against Palace and Theo was chosen against Newcastle as Wenger tweaked the team a little. When Newcastle were reduced to ten men I think Wenger missed a trick by not throwing on Giroud to help Theo out up front as their defense dropped the ten yards deeper and gave us zero space, Surely Wenger saw this and should of put Ollie on and got more balls into the box to create more chances? just a thought………..

I am sure Giroud will lead the line against Stoke at the weekend and will Alexis be given a rest due to the long distances traveled with playing in South America ? Will Arsene try out a 4-4-2 system just to see how Theo and Ollie play up front in tandem or is that something he just doesn’t want to experiment with..?

After seeing the Ox play as more or less a proper right winger for England i’d like to see more of the same for us as well and for him to get at the full back more and get in decent crosses, the more he drops deep and into midfield the less effective he is and makes it way easier for the opposition to defend against us. Hopefully Wenger took note and tells him to stay on the wing at the weekend if he starts.

Rico is off for a well deserved break so you lot are stuck with me for a while, anyone stuck in moderation apologies upfront as am not always around to let you out as quickly as you may like.

That’s all for today seeing as there is such a glut of great Arsenal news……..

I was about to go for a kip Lee and wake up Fri afternoon……… tedious indeed mate…!
As Kev said due to the ever expanding greed or FIFA and Eufa….

    You ok..?

  2. Wavy says:

Good post Wath. I’ve searched it very carefully and I can find no News Now influences! Excellent!
Kev try the Nigel Dempster column, (is he still alive?) or its current equivalent. Non-celeb gossip is usually more lascivious and inaccurate than anything on News Now!

    Morning all.

    Interlull AND Wath?
What did we do to deserve this 🙂
    Nice post bud.
Koz…..great question….what was he doing there in the first place?
I see Gabriel as a very, very competent replacement, so we should be fine but as I rate Koz as one of the worlds best Cb’s, obviously I want him back ASAP.
    Morning guys.

  4. allezkev says:

Maybe, and I’m just putting this out there, Wenger should seriously consider selling Koscielny next summer?

Don’t get me wrong, I really rate Koz, but we know that Real and Barca have been sniffing around, and back problems have a habit of not going away but just gradually get worse…
English football is a physical battle, so it could be beneficial to Koz to play in a more technical league, in Spain, and Arsenal can reinvest the fed they get in another centre-back.

Alternatively Syrup could use the fee help pay for his Amerjcan sports franchise that wants to move to Los Angeles…

    Everyone’s a winner 🙁

Wavy, I would love to read the Nigel Dempster column,

it would be a wonderful and historic thing,

especially as he died in 2007… 😉

    Good afternoon everyone,

Good post Wath…Why did the manager allow Kos to go?…Other managers would not have even allowed even the thought of that more especially considering that we are not even sure if Met will be fine to start.

That’s why I consider Wenger not serious with the team. He is letting the fans again within 8 days..

    Tired…..

  7. asdabee says:

@ Scott, the manager can actually do shit like that by stating player injury.(Basically). And No, selling Kos won’t kill you. We’ll only get another defender.

  8. Madhav - Indian Gunner says:

Good Post Wath… But IMO, Wenger won’t try 4-4-2, especially when Welbeck is injured… The risk is more… If one of OG or TW gets injured, we’ll be in even worst situation…

Kev… We shouldn’t think about selling Koz… The problem of repeated back pain could also be due to insufficient recovery time (Sometimes injured players return early than expected)…
The next two years could be the best years of Koz in an Arsenal Shirt…

  9. allezkev says:

Scott/Madhav, yeah, i thought Arsenal were crazy to sell Petit and Overmars, but we replaced them with Gilberto/Edu and Pires!

No player is irreplaceable and as long as a player of equal quality is brought in, it doesn’t matter, does it…

All players are just passing through…

The problem comes when we sell players and don’t replace them with equal quality or better, as was the case a few years ago…

And with FFP dead in the water, whose to say that those times won’t be returning in the near future?

  10. Micko says:

That gal don’t half take liberties Wath, hope there’s a stick of rock in it for ya mate !

England tonite, in years to come we’ll all be discussing where we were when Rooney scored his record breaking goal…………hehehe.

  11. Wath says:

I can’t see thru the bifocals to clean the contacts Micko…. I demanded two sticks of rock mate and hell to pay if I don’t get some fudge as well..!

    Rooney who..?

  12. Joaquim Moreira says:

    afternoon all
We also need another central back for covering the injuries, suspensions…
Kos have been injury many times…
Mets don’t be fit for all the season
Chambers can play on the right, on the middle but not confident
    Gabriel is ok but…
    We need another one…
4 more signs will be the goal. but none was done.
Therefore, we are at the beginning of September and we have how many players off with injuries?
When we have 2 important games a week, with flights, many games under their legs, awful weather conditions, what we can expect?

  13. Micko says:

Jm, Chambers was flogged to death at the start of last season because of injuries, this season could be an action replay, we’ll soon find out if he’s a man or a mouse !

  14. Rick says:

    Evening all.
Can anyone out there tell me who O.G really is.
I see he is our first team leading scorer yet not only
did he play for the U18’s against West Ham (today) he scored
    the winning goal.
By the way Kossy will be fit for Stoke.

  15. Rick says:

At the moment he is a little on the small size but as he is only 16
he has time to grow. Pleased to see Theri has taken him under his wing
Ginge could he be our Fox in the Box

  16. Micko says:

Good news re the BFG Kev, him and Pretty Boy Gabriel should get the nod this weekend.

No point having regrets, if we’d have signed Rooney as a teenager we’d never have been blessed with Jeffers, every cloud has a siver lining.

    Nite Gooners.

  17. potter says:

Getting sick of the whole circus that is football. Tomorrow our media will be full of Rooney and his record but not one of them will mention how the penalty was gained. Sterling makes contact with an outstretched foot and goes down to let captain fantastic step up and secure his place in history. How many penalties has he scored in getting to this total and how many of those were dubious to say the least. Same with top scorer Shearer, without spot kicks his total would be back in the pack. How many United players dropped like stones for Beckham and Ronaldo. Why are refs so gullible and fall for it all the time.
Answers on a postcard to every journalist that pilloried Pires and Edward please.

Jose face in the papers this morning at the GQ awards show is hilarious… what a miserable man. lol

micko, you know you want a bit of Wooney… don’t pretend. 🙂

    Morning Lee, Wath and all…

  19. Wath says:

    Morning you lot…

Was there any footie last night…?

Potter is spot on with the penalties and the falling over but Sterling is quite good at that he been taking lessons from Wooooney himself and obviously Ashley Young, yep funny how very little is said less it’s an Arsenal player…! Same old same old…!

How many of those goals from Wooooney were when it also really mattered..? One in a world cup apparently.. says it all.

  20. tsgh says:

Morning Adam… Jose’s daughter must have been gifted that dress by one of her parents. lol

Jose looked liked he was forced onto the red-carpet.
