Morning all.
Probably not the finest moment in Martin Keown’s Arsenal career but as a fan, I absolutely loved it. That’s passion. I can remember the game as if was yesterday. Van Nistelrooy had got Patrick Vieira sent off and then when the ghastly Dutchman had a chance to win the game from the penalty spot, he crashed his kick into the bar! Arsenal earned a point that day before going on to win the league without losing a match.
The big defender has released his first book, yes, just in time for Christmas and on Saturday, after the Forest game, fans will be able to meet Keown and have their book signed. “On The Edge” is a great title which probably describes the way he often played.
It was so enjoyable to look back on what an honour it was to play and represent The Arsenal. From playing for the youth team, then the reserves and finally the first team, I played alongside and against some of the Premier League’s all-time greats under the guidance of George Graham and Arsene Wenger.
I hope readers will enjoy learning of my upbringing, where my working-class Irish parents taught me to look after myself and it was those strong principles that took me on a journey away from Arsenal but then back again to ultimately achieve three Premier League titles, three FA Cups and becoming an Invincible.
Whilst I hope all football fans will enjoy reading or listening to my book, I know there’s one fanbase that will enjoy it more than any other!
Yep, it’s on my list for Santa.
At last, all the international fixtures are done and dusted for the year and as far as I can make out from the reports online, the only casualty is Leandro Trossard although it’s unknown how serious his injury is. Hopefully, it’s no more than a stubbed toe which heals in time for the Forest game on Saturday.
Forest are a surprise package this season, so far anyway. They certainly surprised Liverpool and their fans at Anfield. A game which the home team dominated in every department according to the stats, bar hitting the back of the net. According to a match report on Sky Sports, little went right for Liverpool whereas for Forest, little went wrong. Nuno Espírito Santo set up his side up to win the midfield battle and then when it came to making changes in the second half, they worked well. Substitute Hudson-Odoi scored the only goal of the game.
Looking at the Forest squad, not many players are big names in the game but I’ve always believed that the name or price of a player means nothing, not if he doesn’t have the passion or desire to play the game for his club, its fans and his teammates. Forest will give 100% on Saturday afternoon, of that we can be sure, but, I fully expect Arsenal to as well.
There are times when things simply won’t or don’t go right on the day which Liverpool experienced a few weeks back and Arsenal have found out for the few games too but at some stage our poor run of results will end so why can’t that be this weekend?
Yes, Forest beat Liverpool at Anfield but they’ve not gone to any other so called top four club and won so far this season. Mind you, they did go to both Chelsea and Brighton and take a point from each but a draw this weekend is no good for us.
Catch up in the comments.
Hmm it’s just starting to snow!
We had some yesterday but thankfully, it didn’t settle..
This is settling, the lane outside is already covered and it’s still coming down heavily.
