Keep ‘em crossed for two days….

Morning all.

Antonio Conte has finally left a building of no interest, leaving those not so noisy neighbours in need of another manager. Whoever it is, he’ll be their fourth in two years. I think his last and final rant about the club was calculated, with an exit on his wish list. The ‘’mutual consent’ line being spun is a rubbish I think, he’s been sacked and rightly so. It’ll be interesting to see who they get next but rumour is, it could be Julian Nagelsmann who himself has just been sacked by Bayern Munich. Tomas Tuchel has replaced him, in time for their two legged tie against Man City in the Champions League.

The managerial merry go round makes me appreciate what the Kroenke family have done at Arsenal even more. They’ve not always shown much ambition but since they became sole owners of the club, the improvement has been staggering. It’s been a slow process admittedly but as the saying goes, Rome wasn’t built in a day. If the ‘process’ Mikel Arteta and Edu told us to believe in were bricks, the building has taken shape but a bit like The Sagrada Família, it’ll never be finished because they’ll always be room for improvement. There always is in football.

Bukayo Saka is all over the back pages this morning after setting Harry Kane up for one and then scoring a super goal himself for England in their 2-0 win over Oleksandr Zinchenko’s Ukraine. The best in his position in the Premier League ‘they say’ – well, he’s certainly up there isn’t he but we’ve known that for a while. Thankfully, he’ll return to Arsenal unscathed, albeit a little weary perhaps but with just ten games to go and so much to play for, I’m sure he, like every Arsenal player, will find the energy to get through the next two months. As said yesterday, our next three matches are seven days apart so the rest days will be crucial before a mad two weeks at the end of the month.

Our fixtures in May are set to be shuffled around a bit for television. The match against Newcastle Utd which was due to take place at St James’ Park on Saturday 6th has been switched to the Sunday at 4.30  for Sky Sports. Changes to our games against Brighton & Hove Albion and Nottingham Forest later in the month are due to be announced on April 6 and April 14 respectively.

We’re into the final two days of international football fixtures now. Thomas Partey is likely to play for Ghana later today, Kieran Tierney, Granit Xhaka, Martin Odegaard, Leandro Trossard and Matt Turner are likely to be in action tomorrow.

Keep ‘em crossed guys, keep ‘em crossed.

    Good morning Rico.

The headline in one tabloid said an awful lot “A cracker from Saka”!!. Did you notice, after Saka’s superb goal, how desperate Kane was to get in the picture with him. He, like many others, can see how essential Saka is to increasing his personal goals tally.

There was some talk in the papers this weekend that Flo Balogun could soon be understudy to Kane, taking over after the
    Euros.

  3. rico says:

Can’t see Balogun for England just yet, unless the FA are panicking with him not committing to a country. I hope he chooses England because Southgate won’t be manager for much longer in my opinion.

After Kane, the best striker is imo Toney but as we know, he’s a big ban looming large.

Evening Rico. The piece about the revitalisation of the club since the Kroenkes and Mikel got together will no doubt come in for closer attention as the season takes its course towards the end. It’s looking to be a good story, full of twists and turns.

Morning Rico and all, can’t wait for these international matches to finish, It must be a slow news day as The Daily Mail are claiming Real Madrid will try to buy Jesus.

    Good morning all.

The Daily Mail must have summoned up the ghost of Mystic Meg in order to come up with their prophecy that Bukayo Saka will be earning close to £15 million a season when he signs his new £300.000 a week contract. Not, I hasten to add, that he doesn’t deserve a new enhanced contract but will the Kroenkes really be willing to shell out that much to one player?

  7. Aussie Geoff says:

ABC Sports claim that The International Football Association Board are going to change law 14 to read that during a penalty the goal keep must stand still on the line and they are not allowed to jump around or touch the goal post and must face the person taking the penalty.

  8. Aussie Geoff says:

If Party is injured, then let’s hope it’s not too bad, we need him fully fit at this time of the season.
