Just £3M will get Evans! Deal agreed for Striker & new Arsenal Manager identified..

Morning all.

Yesterday’s post was about the media and the way they report news, news which all too often contain little substance, certainly when it comes to transfer rumours and the day proved to be no exception. £10 million and Mathieu Debuchy was apparently what we offered West Brom and in return, we’d asked for Jonny Evans. £15 million plus Debuchy and perhaps Pardew would have thought about it but the reality is, no such offer was made in the first place. Total fabrication said the Englishman just before he backtracked on blaming the very people he was talking to.

Pardew won’t let us have Evans on the cheap that’s for sure and I suspect he’s made that quite clear to those involved in selling the player. Add to that, he and Wenger have history and I don’t think I’d be far off by guessing they can’t stand each other. I’m not overly keen on Wenger as you probably realise by now but Pardew, well hes just one of many who I really can’t warm to. You’d think he was a top class manager the way he speaks/acts but he’s not which is why he’s often fighting a relegation battle.

I suppose we should be going after Evans though as he ticks many boxes. British, tall, experienced in the PL and seems to have a knack of being in the right place at the right time. He’s captain material too which suggests he has something were missing, leadership qualities. I was going to mention how many goals his team have conceded this season as 31 is a really high number considering he’s at the heart of their defence but then I checked ours! Good job we can score goals eh, not enough though.

According to reports, WBA are hoping to raise around £23 million for their central defender, a fee which will drop to just £3 million in the summer should his club get relegated. Unlike Arsenal, West Brom will probably not allow the chance to lose £20 million (ish) to become a reality. I doubt many clubs would because to do so is dreadful financial management. Sitting second from bottom in the league as I type, the likelihood of them being a Championship club next season is quite high so it’s understandable that Pardew has hinted that Evans will be sold before Wednesday. He needs the money for a couple of players before then himself apparently.

Over to you Arsenal, or will the potential £3 million deal in the summer seem a better option?

The club can afford to wait until the summer though, not if a return to the Champions League is the sole aim for Wenger. Koscielny isn’t guaranteed to remain fit for the remainder of the season, Merts is finished imo and should Mustafi pick up an injury, it’s down to Chambers and Holding. Playing those two together would be unfair, on both them and the rest of the team. Bring in Evans and they’ll both have a proper experienced British defender to help them at this crucial time of their career.

Just as the club are going to have to pay mega money to get Aubameyang, they are going to have to pay the price if they want Jonny Evans. Getting both might just be the difference between finishing 5th or 6th place or nicking a Champions League spot ahead of Chelsea, Liverpool and Totts. Dortmund want to sell Aubameyang, Ivan and co really need to get this done. Charlie Nicholas reckons he, Ozil, Lacazette and Mkhitaryan together could be great for the club and the start of something very special.

Five day’s left in this transfer window to get both he and Evans through the door. A DM too and even I’d start to believe things were looking up!

I had to laugh yesterday which made a refreshing change whilst reading the news. Two men who certainly divide public opinion were left together in a room together and Piers Morgan came out with a corker as he suggested his mate Donald Trump would be the perfect replacement for Arsene Wenger.

As ridiculous as it sounds, Piers has a point….

Talking of ridiculous, Alexis Sanchez was named man of the match last night again Yeovil. I watched a lot of that match and in all honesty, I thought he was awful. I know he’s not played for a couple of weeks but regardless, he looked far from being the player he was when we first signed him. He was on the end of a few clumsy tackles which did make me smile, as did the Yeovil fans who booed him loudly ever time he had the ball. Either that or sang ‘what a waste of money.’

Seeing him in a Utd shirt hurt though, he just didn’t look right. Still, he’s not our player anymore and I need to get over it…

I’m sure I’ll love Mkhitaryan just as much. In time…..

Transfer stuff.

Arsenal and Karim Benzema have apparently agreed personal terms ahead of a move to north London. Back up for Auba perhaps or just poppycock.

Chelsea are still hoping to lure Giroud away from the club but that’s not going to happen, we’ll, not unless Aubameyang arrives before Wednesday and then he might. Odd that one.

Mathieu Debuchy is linked with a return to France with St Etienne but if Wenger wants him to be part of a Jonny Evans deal, then best he get a move on.

Enough scribbling from me, have a good Saturday guys, at least we don’t have to worry about getting knocked out of the FA Cup eh…

Bright sunny Saturday morning here in Norfolk and the surface water has given away to frost which is now clearing..
Nothing much else to say apart from that I will be surprised if anyone else walks through the Arsenal door because once I hear that we are open for business it confirms that in effect we are not.
Still it will soon be pancake day , the rest of the world have Mardi Gras with celebrations, music , dancing in the streets, but not us we just get a few disperate ladies to charge down a market high street for the news cameras to feature a 2 minute slot on the local news and a picture of a soggy mess on the floor on the front of a freesheet which gets used to light the fire a couple of days later.
We sure know how to let our hair down in this country.

  2. rico says:

Lucky you, we have rain, grey skies and cold…

Think I’m a bit more optimistic re the transfers. I reckon we’ll get both Evans and Auba, well, I did in my dreams…

  3. Le Coq Monster says:

Morning all and than you Rico.

After shifting 7 tonne of Granite Chippings yesterday up a flight of ten steps with a bucket in each hand I can say that my arms now longer arms would be the envy of a spud knuckle dragger !
    🙂

Not being in the FA Cup today is a deep cut that was inflicted by Wenger, I shall never forgive him !

You know what I dont get !………………………………Kroenke !………………………..after his latest share purchase it means if he were to sell he would make a wopping £500M !…………………………..He doesn`t take any ” Intellectual property £3M ” from the club anymore and only gets something like £20-50K per annum as a director, he also doesn`t put any money in the club, so what`s the point ?…………………..

  4. Le Coq Monster says:

Forgot to add……………………………he will only make any money if he sells !…………………the previous shareholders only made money by selling, again, what`s the point ?.

  5. Canadian Gooner says:

Good Morning to The Lady of the House and all fellow Gooners in residence.

“…I’m not overly keen on Wenger as you probably realise by now but Pardew, well hes just one of many who I really can’t warm to…”

Rico, Rico, you’re far too polite regarding Pardew. We have seen you being much tougher on poor old Arsene and his arch-nemesis, the Petulant Portuguese Pygmy.

Once a lady always a lady. Anyway, keep up the good work.

  6. allezkev says:

And so we enter Day 5 with the clock running down before the transfer window closes on Wednesday night and still we’ve heard nothing productive from Dortmund…

I wonder if Gazides and Co are still working on other deals?

I can’t blame the club for trying to move on Debuchy even if his salary is always going to prove prohibitive for any interested club, but for his wages I’m sure that he would have returned to France ages ago.

Weren’t West Brom interested in him awhile back?
Was that before Pardew took over?

Jonny Evans would be a good addition, even at 30, he would certainly help the likes of Chambers and Holding who both seem devoid of the right kind of coaching.

Didn’t Tony Adams once say that it was more him than Wenger who developed Ashley Cole.

  7. Wavy says:

    Morning all.
Grey, damp and windy cold. Not a nice day.

90% sure we’ve done buying for this TW and we finish £50m up! What it is to be sustainable. I should think that that amount will let the old codgers re stock the Emirate’s cellars with a large stock of expensive vintage alcohol! Oh, and a few large Havannah cigars for the Board room.

If Josh takes over what’s the betting he forsakes the sustainable model and milks the club dry? The old man makes the money and then the heirs squander the lot. Time will tell, won’t it.

No game today or tomorrow, marvellous = no high blood pressure, well not till Tuesday anyway.

Only shock result today…..if Forest beat Hull!

  8. rico says:

Afternoon Cg, it’s the new calmer me.. 😉

You’re right re Cole and Adams Kev, it was in his book, or Wrighty’s, I can’t remember.

Wavy, didn’t Josh want Wenger out and Henry in? And I’m sure I read/heard somewhere that he tried to get Stan to sell up..

  9. Le Coq Monster says:

Kroenke will only make money if he sells(£500M) or if he can buy Usmanov`s shares, which he tried to @£525M , then he would have the right to buy the other 2 odd% and own 100% of Arsenal, then he could do what he likes.

I still dont get why he doesn`t sell up and make £500m !………………I dont know what he has paid for all his shares, but if he makes £500M from selling them it must be quite a big amount and all he gets back in return currently is £25K + expenses per annum !

Wenger has paid no money for shares and earns £8m+ per annum and Gazidis paid no money for shares and earns over £2.5M per annum and their boss Kroenke gets £25k per annum, I honestly dont see the point in owning the club unless he sells and makes a massive profit !……………………………..am I missing something here as it doesn`t make sense !

Rico you say he may sell one day when the price is right, but £500M profit !……………………………and didn`t Usmanov try to buy him out for £2B ?

And to top it all, no one likes the cupid stunt and he definately is not doing whats best for our club by staying and not investing in the team !
Just a stubborn bastard like Wenger is in that he too does not do what`s best for the club by leaving…………..two narcisstical(spelling) egotistical bucking farstards !………………………………………..and we`re not in the FA Cup !

  10. rico says:

Lc, apart from not sacking Wenger, or not renewing his contract and keeping the old farts on the board, which I know is a big deal, what’s a Kroenke doing wrong?

  11. Le Coq Monster says:

I put a link up yesterday that indicated that it was not Wenger , but Gazidis being the tight bastrd on transfers, well unless he (Gazidis) offers what Dortmund want then Aubameyandadingdong will not move !……………….so if we dont get him imo it`s fair to say that Gazidis should take the flak instead of Wenger !………….latest…………………….

Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc has said they are willing to keep Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang until the summer if Arsenal fail to meet their demands.

“We are prepared to implement a transfer under certain parameters – but only if these parameters are fully met. Arsenal has started several attempts so far. We have all rejected so far,” he said on a statement released on Dortmund’s official website.

“Either our demands are fulfilled, then there can be another transfer or else they will not be fulfilled and Auba will play in Dortmund until the summer, so it is also discussed and accepted by the Aubameyang family.”

Pay the mucking foney Gazidis !

  12. Le Coq Monster says:

Simple, Rico………………………£0 invetsment in team !……………………………and before you say we have money and Wenger doesn`t spend it ( even though it`s now aparrent that it is Gazidis who is the tight one)………………………..remember how much CFG are spending just on defenders and I know you`ld like one of those …….
    🙂
the coincidence of CFG and Chavs amount of trophies and the investment from their owners is to overwhelming !………………………………you have to speculate to accumalate…………….first rule for enterpreneur`s isn`t it ?

  13. Kk says:

    Afternoon rico and all..
I was very optimistic that we get the signing of Auba done earlier on, however as things been done the Arsenal way, and especially that the A team trio are back in London now as negotiations stalled, I fear it would be another ” we tried everything ”

When wenger says we working hard and all that rubbish he is happy with the quality of his squad and the togethness bla bla bla you kinda sense we are doomed!
    Still 4 days to go!

  14. Kk says:

    That’s not good kel..
he made it clear he wants to leave.
surely they would have kept him away if things are positive.
Hopefully they’re just playing hard ball!

  15. Kel says:

an injury would end the deal no doubt so it’s a risk on Dortmund side..

but didn’t we play nasri and the Ox literally before selling them… so fingers crossed.

  16. Kel says:

I watched the game Rico.. he had 20 touches the entire game. tbh you wouldn’t have knew he was on the pitch.. I think after watching that Dortmund might just want to get this deal done now… that performance from Aubameyang might force their hand a bit.

  17. Rick says:

    Afternoon Rico and the House.
Its been a dull and cold day where I am. I will be glad when Jan is closed.
First sorry for my boob on wed todays games were Q/Finals not S/F.
Second normal source not available today so unable to post updates.
However I can tell you that the u18’s beat Norwich on Pens and the U 16’s beat Everton 3-2
both teams are in the s/finals

The game at Colney played in very Wet and Windy conditions was very Close right through the game.
It went as follows H/T 1-1, Full time 2-2 H/T in E/T 3-4 and we made it 4-4 2mins from time and won The pen Shoot out 5-4
The other teams in the semis are Spuds Chelsea and Everton

  18. Goonster says:

Evening Rico any news on auba???? This is getting ridiculous now. The player wants to come and Dortmund is willing to let go of their prized asset yet arsenal is faffing about as always. What is wrong with these guys? I thought a change of personnel meant change in transfer policy and negotiation but heck what do I know. It’s getting boring now guys. This is crazy.

  19. Goonster says:

Lol Rico I watched the game too. Sanchez was his usual self. MOM??? I want what the FA is smoking. He was one of the worst players on show last night ? plus some cnut was trying to break hid ankles last night. It was oddly satisfying watching him squirm. We need all 19 teams in the PL to do target him for the rest of the season. I want him to flop so bad. Lol.

  20. rico says:

    Afternoon Rick, goonster.

Seems the young guns are doing well, just need the grownups to catch up…

Not seen any updates on Sky etc goonie, not long to go now though…

  21. Goonster says:

Still think we ‘ll get him Rico?? Damn wish I shared your optimism but I ve been here a million times before. Plus gazidis and his entourage are back in London isn’t it?? That’s the deal dead then.

  22. allezkev says:

I’d guess that Gazides is given a maximum figure to go to by the Board and when that’s reached, that’s that, it’s not in his interest not to get the player and if he could have gone to €70m then he would have done.
Does Wengef recommend what that figure is to the Board, who knows, I can’t imagine that he has absolutely no influence…

  23. rico says:

Re Alexis Goonie, I wonder If we see things differently when he’s not in an arsenal shirt. Like you, I thought he was really average..

  24. rico says:

Surely the club/board/Wenger would have found out how much Dortmund wanted before jetting out to Germany, after all, why go if they know they can’t afford to get him.

Unless it’s another player we’re after and Auba is a smokescreen…

  25. Le Coq Monster says:

Dortmund want £60M plus Sanogo !……………………..Is Gazidis still on the payroll ?…………………..needs to be sacked for a shambolic attempt to sign PEA……………………………………..pay the fcuking money !

Had we a Chav/Mansour City type investor instead of the man with an STD riddled syrup, e would have had him by Jan 1st !

  26. Kk says:

Give goonster some of your sauce rico.?

Meanwhile Benzema got substituted and got really stroppy and threw his toys out of the pram. ..

He is definitely heading to arsenal then. .lol

  27. Le Coq Monster says:

Going to Dortmund is all just for show just to make the fans think we are trying, but after years of this shit we now better than to trust anyone from Wenger upwards.
We will look like a bunch of amateurs and us the fans will not be happy if our dealing are done and dusted already !

  28. Kk says:

Coquelin and his new valencia mates got spanked 1/4 by a rejuvinated real Madrid. .
Gabriel didnt play though, he was suspended.

  29. Goonster says:

Just cent believe a club of arsenal’s stature could act so irresponsible. Why do we even bother? Adam Lee kev LC Potter micko wavy and all the other British gooners on here need to show these cnuts whose boss. Vote with your feet. Don’t renew your season tickets don’t buy club merchandise. Hit kroenke and the board where it hurts most…their pockets. It’s time anti Wenger and pro Wenger come together for a single cause which is to get this parasite off our darling club. Alan fucking shearer was taking the piss out of us last night. I mean shearer??? This cnut that couldn’t even lace the boot of any of our invincible. Well I don’t blame him I blame us the fans and the fucking useless board. Manure fans calling us their feeder team is the height of it for me. Vote with your feet guys. AKBs and WOBs get together let’s rid our glorious club of these plague that is kroenke. Please guys for my sanity and the rest of the other ailing gooners worldwide. LET’s KICK THESE CNUTS OFF OUR BELOVED CLUB!!!

  30. Le Coq Monster says:

You wont have me disagree about Kroenke, Goonster,……………….he`s biggest cnut out of all of them !………………………….put it this way, if everyone in Holland hated you, but you could make £500M and get off, what would you do ?
If everyone in Cornwall hated me, but I could make £500M, I`d go off to Devon or Royal Bekshire and become Rico`s neighbour !

    😆

  31. potter says:

THE only way to kill a leech is to pour ,salt on it. Kroenke is a leech all we need is an attack plane 2 ton of salt and a fly past of wiggy’s ranch.

  32. Goonster says:

Rico HH was down last night couldn’t get on. Tried all night to no avail. Kept saying “forbidden ” don’t know what that means but am glad am back on. Morning everybody.

  33. Goonster says:

Wenger is at it again. Oh my word stop fucking about with players just play them at their rightful position. The latest is mhki. He wants to play him in a box to box role. This guy is an attacking midfielder. He’s one of the best too. Why try to fuck up his game? This is just ashavin all over again. God this man ‘ll be the death of me.

  34. rico says:

Sorry about that goonie, no idea why..

Wenger has not said hes going to play Mkhitaryan as a box to box player, I watched his interview and as much as he mentioned what he can do, he did say something about not being a defensive player, unless I dreamt it.

Im sick of Wenger too but the media/blog has got that wrong…

    Morning to you and all..

  35. Goonster says:

Thanks for clarifying that Rico jeez I was about losing my shit. We need mhki to play on the wings. Take iwobi’s place. Him ozil laca and hopefully auba ‘ll be a dream strike force. Something close to what we had in 2002 to 2006. I can’t wait to see them all start. It ‘ll be glorious.

  36. Goonster says:

Heard arsenal sent a scout to the pool vs west brom game last night. Scouting jonny evans I presume. We do need defensive reinforcement but at this rate we won’t get any this January. With 3 days to go??? I doubt it.

  37. rico says:

No probs Goonie, I reckon he’ll just slot in where Sanchez was..

I watched West Brom last night and I’m far from convinced by Evans. Unless the transfer rumours have turned his head, I can’t see why he’s worth £25 million. He’s now injured too.

  38. Adam says:

Morning Rico and all. A great shame that Spurs got a late equaliser but watching Klopp’s inanimate display on the touchline as they blew out offered a satisfying touch of comedy to Saturday evening. He seems determined not to bare his newly-whitened teeth to the World lately so has had his top lip glued to them, a practice that Firmino might be wise to copy as his ‘Hampsteads’ radiate a peculiar shade of pale blue under the floodlights. I believe it was little Brenda Rogers who started the Anfield fashion of teeth irradiation and Coutinho, Firmino and now the Klopster himself have all succumbed to the temptation of achieving an entirely unnatural flashing, sinister smile. They have hyper-teeth now of the kind that have never been witnessed in the natural World. Perhaps the man with the ironed face has bought his personal dentist over from the US in order to make Liverpool FC more acceptable to the average dentally-aware US sports fan.
Meanwhile, the Aubameyang saga roles on and on.
As an aside, I thought that Jonny Evans looked worth about £5 million last night. The amount of fouls he gives away on the edge of the box, though reminiscent of Martin Keown, worries me.
    Personally, I’d try for Maguire.

  39. Goonster says:

Lol did you see oxcham being shit all game. Hahahahahah arsenal fans ripped into him on Twitter. It was hilarious.

  40. rico says:

    Morning Adam.

Great shame re the Totts, they didn’t deserve it imo. But another game for them I guess. All the talk this morning is about VAR in the Liverpool match but I thought it worked well albeit took a while. Thought WBA deserved their win, good for them, especially towards the end when they were pretty much down to nine men…

  41. Goonster says:

Klopp does love to show off his pearly whites don’t he?.lol he’s been here now for 3 years and is no closer to winning Liverpool any trophy. Saw on Twitter last night…the tide is turning against him. Klopp out was the overwhelming cry last night. Lol it ‘ll be comical if they fire him and oxcham gets benched again. Lol I ‘ll love that.

  42. Goonster says:

Rico it’s funny how these media Muppets always rip into us yet we are not the ones who haven’t won a trophy in eons. 3 fa cups in 4 years is amazing even though some might belittle it but ask yourself this when was the last time Liverpool won any title of any kind? Jeez I think Benitez won then their last trophy in 2008!!! The fa cup against West ham if am right. Lol

  43. Goonster says:

Lol I was kinda taken aback by poch even though everyone and his dog knew the barb was aimed at Liverpool and klopp. Lol

  44. rico says:

Adam, it’s very early days though and I’m sure it’ll be improved along the way. I’d rather wait three minutes for the right decision than drop points without it..

  45. rico says:

Wenger was right and Kev been saying the same thing for ages. Totts and Liverpool have won bugger all recently but the media can’t say enough about them. Meanwhile……

  46. Goonster says:

For all his beautiful high pressing football which the media and former scousers drool all over he still haven’t won squat. It’s his 3rd season lol. Just hope and pray Maureen replicates this in the next 3 years. It ‘ll be comical watching Sanchez squirm. Haha COYGS

  47. rico says:

I hope Poch goes to Real Madrid, they’ll be stuffed then..

Chelsea too as it looks like Conte is on his way out and they’re running out of managers…

  48. Goonster says:

Rico he won’t last half a season. The Los merenges *spelling* are not known for their patience. They ‘ll chew him up and spit him out even before he starts. Yes I ‘ll love for him to take up the job if it means the totts going back to being shit again.

  49. Adam says:

Rico. I am sure the time thing will be addressed but let me offer a scenario. We are attacking. Ozil slips a ball through and Lacazette runs onto it with just the keeper to be beat. The offside flag goes up and the ref blows and signals offside. A look at a replay shows him to be onside. What happens then? Does it mean that each such move must be played out until the ball is in the net and then the goal is revisited on the video and a decision taken as to its legality? Knowing the bias of a ref like Mike Dean, might he also not book the player for failing to play to the whistle?
How many of our results this year would be different, if VAR had been in play? Would Mike Dean have changed his mind about the penalty in the WBA game or would it remain a matter of opinion. Tony Cottee still believes it was a penalty after all.

  50. frednerk says:

    Morning Rico and All

Amazing how we somehow get the poker hat on
when ever we have to fork out a bit.
I know lets try that again gentlemen,we know
the frogs are greedy bastards, but the germans
always give it large to start with……then sell.
The Pea wants out, thats clear enough and
    Dortmond are a selling club.
So are the germans thinking.. Hold it a minute?
Whats happened to the 80 million you offered
monaco for that left sided geezer?

  51. Goonster says:

Yep Sean dyche ‘ll make a mean monster out of him. Both him and chambers are good defenders just too nice for my liking. Burnley is a good place to learn. He ‘ll defending half the time unlike at arsenal. Good move for both parties.

  52. rico says:

Adam, but that’s exactly the kind of scenario which needs to be improved on. Play should go on unless it’s a really obvious offside and if a goal is scored it stands until VAR has been reviewed if it’s deemed to be required.

I personally don’t think too much is wrong with it, but it does need tweaking. If football follows the other sports which use it, it can only be good for the game.

Re Dean, yes, i think he would have changed his view on the penalty had he had VAR.

  53. rico says:

Morning Fred, wasn’t the £90 million offer for Lemar off the back of City offering £60m for Alexis?

In hindsight, we should have sold Alexis imo, agreed the deal for Lemar but let him stay at Monaco until this month by which time Monaco could have found a suitable replacement. All we succeeded in doing imo is to raise the price of a player who I don’t think is worth it.
