Jovetic,Thierry & Adler in the summer & Wenger running scared….

Morning all,

So Wilfred Zaha is an Arsenal fan, or is he merely a fickle fan?

It was always Arsenal, Arsenal, Arsenal, Arsenal in terms of where I could be going.

I have always supported Arsenal. I did not expect United to come in but they did. Arsenal are a good team but United are one of the best in the world.

Surely as a fan of any club, the greatest honour one can has is playing for that club?

Carl Jenkinson is a perfect example, look how thrilled and honoured is to have been signed up by Arsene Wenger.

How could Zaha, as a fan, turn his back on the club he says he has always supported, we wanted to sign him, he chose to go to Manchester United.

Anyway, I hope he lives to regret it, I hope this summer we do finally take great steps in the transfer market and come this time next season we are not battling for a top four place. I hope we are sat firmly in second or even top spot. That’s the aim isn’t it? Arsene? Stan?

Saying that, I seriously hope Stan is long gone by then and Mr Usmanov is in control.

If he is, I doubt we will have to read stirring headlines in the newspapers like today’s in The Daily Mail:

Fearful Arsenal make early £25m move for Fiorentina striker Jovetic

How do they know that anyone at Arsenal is ‘fearful’, how do they know what the club are up to and what makes them think other clubs are going to outbid us?

All guesswork stuck on the end of a big fat wooden spoon….

Oh, and they also suggest that Rene Adler is the goal keeper we are definitely after:

‘Having been quoted £15m for Stoke’s Asmir Begovic and Sunderland’s Simon Mignolet,  Arsenal see the Germany international’s £8m fee as a more viable option‘.

Maybe Jens has been keeping an eye on the German, maybe it’s on his advice that Wenger see’s Rene Adler as the better option? Again it’s all guess work.

Still, it gives me something to moan about and avoid talking about Sunday’s match…

Other player gossip, Arsene Wenger is looking to recruit 18-year-old Cameroon striker Ernest Thierry Anang in the summer. That’s according to The Sun. That news will cheer all Gooners up this morning!

And finally, Wenger has said:

I’m afraid of what Chelsea can do in the summer.

We have to be prepared for them to be one of the biggest movers in terms of investment once the transfer window opens.

No Arsene!

Forget Chelsea, YOU have to be prepared to make Arsenal one of the biggest movers this summer!!

That’s it for another day, have a good one….

  1. Adam says:

Morning Rico. The season hasn’t ended and already dear old Arsene is showing his mindset. Does that mean that FFP will not be our saviour after all? I really don’t know why Wenger bothers. Or perhaps I do.

  2. rico says:

    Morning Adam and all…

The comment about Chelsea really is a daft one to make isn’t it. I just pray he’s merely answering a equally daft question put to him….

  3. rico says:

All the other stuff re transfers I don’t believe. Don’t believe Jovetic, nor do I believe the ‘Thierry’ one…

  4. ozgunner10 says:

Many are optimistic we are about to see a new Arsene Wenger, can’t for the life of me see why 🙂

  5. rico says:

    Hi G10, Oz..

No, £25 million?? If he signs though, then things are changing…

Some report he has agreed terms with us….

  6. Lee says:

He’s already sowing the seeds that we’ll do fuck all in transfer window! Get the right players in or do one Wenger!

  7. rico says:

But Lee, he can’t tell us he’s going to sign Messi, Falcao, Capour and Sakho – otherwise Chelsea or Man City will out bid us….

    😉

  8. vladablok9a says:

Think we finish deal with Jovetic in January. Just know ppl who know him 🙂 He never confirm that, but 99% am sure he is already our player

  9. seif says:

Hopefully Mr.Wenger u know ur rival plan….isnt it to our best defense to be well prepared? Mind u we are tired of mere excuses all the time!

  10. And_Arsene_Said... says:

“Still, it gives me something to moan about and avoid talking about Sunday’s match…”

Doesn’t look like you need any excuses to moan anyway. Stop moaning like a drain lad, and get behind your team.

  11. ozgunner10 says:

can we see 25m in this player?? We have sat and watched the likes of Ba and Sturridge move for less than half this price – i am really suss of this story – surely not another attacking forward 🙂

  12. ozgunner10 says:

really hard to tell what we’re up to as normal, although thats true of every team. I really hope we make a statement this summer. I do suspect our appeal at the top end must be waning now. My concern is we’re now a stepping stone club – we’ve been a selling club for some time now

  13. Bradster says:

    Hi All,

If Zaha has been a fan a while like we have, seen Wenger’s transfers in and out and how Arsenal have been going the last few years, I would also join Man U.

  14. cavalry says:

Shitting ourselves about Chelsea’s buying strength this morning and we have Usmanov on our board the richest man in Britain?????? He could buy Chelsea with his short change in the morning!!!!!

  15. TT says:

And Jovetic will be a tremendous buy. just needs a good finisher to play with him.

Been busy Rico so not much time for the football blogs. Not that much happening right now a part from unsubstantiated rumors.

  16. rico says:

    Hi Brad.. I couldn’t, I really dislike them….

cavalry, I am hoping AU is going to make his move next month….

TT – nothing, same old same old isn’t it, get fed up with writing it some days…

  17. ozgunner10 says:

    Love this… Only a couple??

Walcott added that Wenger’s rage manifests itself in a different way to that of other managers but the affect is no less telling. He said: “He lets us know [if we haven’t performed well] the following day, that’s for sure. There have been a couple of those this year”.

  18. Bradster says:

Thinking from a fan point of view Rico I agree but from a career move point of view, Man U at this stage seems a better move to me.

  19. rico says:

    Hi Potter..

Oz. I really meant in the comments section, I bet if we looked back to when HH started up, we we saying the same. We need a new spine 😉

  20. kel says:

Nothing will change until usmanov is in charge, im sure wenger will try to sign the right players this summer, but i doubt it will be the players we all yearn for, next season will be a rerun of this season imo 4th or 5th place finish at best, and as long as kronke gets his few quid nothing will change, frustrating and im sure some gut wrenching moments lie ahead for us gooners whether we like it or not…

  21. rico says:

More like a couple of weekends where AW wouldn’t needed to have had a rage…

I still couldn’t do it Bradster, no way could play for a manager like Fergie, not when he is resopnsible for deploying the Neville sisters and Scholes on Reyes…

  22. ozgunner10 says:

so many against this guard of honour stuff but the issue is now settled it seems

Wenger said. ‘I want the English tradition of the guard of honour to continue,’ he said.

‘I’m French but I work in England, and I respect this tradition.’

  23. rico says:

Be interesting – but I am sure the players will be polite…

    The fans, well that’s a different story….

  24. Bradster says:

I was thinking, cheer the Arsenal boys out and give a Man City celebration as Man U walk out through the tunnel. I think in ancient times it was the biggest disrespect to turn your back on someone.

  25. ozgunner10 says:

we’ll step up like we always do and do the right thing. Thats why we’re the Arsenal. Class can not be purchased

  26. ozgunner10 says:

we should not forget our role in their success either, lets be honest here as was the case with city before them

  27. Adam says:

Pochetino is aiming to push Southampton up the table to a CL spot and Wenger is arranging a guard of honour for Man Utd while being fearful of other club’s spending power. Words are cheap, but ambition is mandatory. Getting the fans behind the team isn’t a bad idea either.
Put the white towel away Arsene, at least until you’ve got the ST money in an can revert to the close-season schtick once again.
    Come great Jabba-make your move!

  28. TT says:

“I was thinking, cheer the Arsenal boys out and give a Man City celebration as Man U walk out through the tunnel. I think in ancient times it was the biggest disrespect to turn your back on someone.”

What exactly UTD have done to deserve this I can’t understand.

If you want to turn your back on someone do it to the Arsenal players and manager who, for years now have bottled almost every important game and still picked up their fat paychecks every week.

Not only that but every year lame performances have been rewarded by the manager and the board. At Utd however you will never get away with under performing or not giving it 100%.

Think of this. How many times have you seen the utd players come out saying how much they want to win compared to the Arsenal players? our lot are constantly spouting statements of intent while Utd simply do what has to be done and don’t talk about it.

  29. Wavy says:

Arsene admits to being French, ooh I say!
I have a question for him, why, if you are French, are you not on strike like the rest of your compatriots?
If you were at least we could all have a bit of a break from the urbane comments that erupt from the pressers, seemingly to baffle us all.
Guard of honour, an English tradition, my arse!

    Morning all.

  30. rico says:

TT – I think it’s more directed at RvP than the Manure team…

But again, who was it who sold him in the first place…

Morning Wavy, bet you never knew that eh….

  31. rico says:

Mind you, I don’t believe any team should be given a guard of honour, they get a trophy, what more do they want…

On that note I am off to walk Fido… Laters….

  32. TT says:

Rico at Liverpool lowest moment, just after the Hillsborough massacre, they went out to a late Arsenal goal. Their fans applauded our team off the pitch. In 1991 the united team gave Arsenal a guard of honor when the team ran onto the pitch.

It’s a good tradition and shows appreciation for the accomplishment that isf winning the title in one of the hardest competitions in the world, nothing more nothing less and why anyone would want to lower them self’s to braking this is beyond me.

That the fact RvP plays for them and not us can be laid squarely at the doors of Arsenal football club, not his. He may have been rash in his statement but does anyone disagree with it?

  33. EastSidePaul says:

The guard of honor should be respected, we’re a club with class. Always have been, always will be.

Its not United’s fault that we’re in the position that we find ourselves in, its Arsenal and Wenger’s fault, so if you want someone to be pissed with I suggest that as a good start.

Major, Major things have to happen this summer for us to compete next year, how many times have we said that?

We all know by the time the transfer window closes in september if we can compete or not. On past performances I wouldn’t hold my breath.

  34. Adam says:

That repulsive old git Ferguson must be laughing his head off, thinking how they took our best player, won the PL because of it while simultaneously f..king us and now we are going to give those shitbags a guard of honour in our own backyard. No wonder he gets on better with Wenger these days.
You really couldn’t make it up. I hope the humiliation sticks in Wenger’s throat as much as it does mine but I doubt it. He is too busy cowering in the shadow of Chelsea’s spending power.

  35. eastsidepaul says:

Adam if going out in the cup ro a league two side didn’t stick in throat this certainly won’t! Its embarrassing.

  36. Lee says:

Why does he make these stupid comments to the world….here’s an idea, try to concentrate on halting the decline of a once great football club!

  37. potter says:

You are quite correct Oz, you can’t buy class ! but you can buy titles just ask Blackburn , City , Chelsea and United.

  38. ozgunner10 says:

dunno if its moving away but i see what United have done this season as mighty impressive, considering their squad – Even with RVP they pressured until Wenger broke, Fergie has had Wenger in his pocket for a long time now and he know’s it – “We want our title back” was Fergie claim at seasons start. No mention of the City vast sums of cash or the Russian Bank down the road. They got on with it with a squad no one thought was good enough.

  39. Adam says:

Lee. I couldn’t agree more. Our club is slipping inexorably backwards. We have The Syrup at the helm, presumably making big decisions, but what is he doing exactly? He is there for himself, to safeguard his investment and make a massive profit. I have seen nothing to suggest he cares a toss for the club itself. He is overseeing the disengagement of the fan base as we slide into mediocrity. Wenger is blaming everyone else and their money. Yet, in the background we have the unbelievably wealthy Usmanov, waiting to buy the whole thing and we are told, willing to inject enormous amounts of money to make us successful. At the moment it seems as though he considers Wenger part of the solution. Everything that R&W Holdings said at the beginning of the season is happening. We haven’t been good enough and the ramifications of that will spread. That is clear. Pretty soon Wenger will be viewed as part of the problem perhaps.
Imagine a scenario where, with Usmanov, we knew that when a World Class player like Falcao, Cavani or Goetze became available, we might be well in the running to sign them. No more Gervinhos and players of that inadequate quality. I am coming round to thinking though that Arsene is not the man to lead us forward, even under those circumstances. The “old” style of football club is dead. Move with the times or, as you see, get left behind. I don’t necessarily like it any more than anyone else, but it is now a reality. I say we are bloody lucky to have Usmanov as a possible alternative.

  40. emma says:

    Goodmorning all,

    re: Jovetic

If true about the rumour that we’ve got Jovetic then defenders will be running scared next season. He is one heck of a player. Jovetic is a complete striker who can play across the front three as well as an out and out striker. He is quick, a bad *ss dribbler and if he is one on one with a defender he can ghost past him.He is as skillful as pursering(judas). Deadly with his right foot. He’s got a heck of a shot with his right foot just like Podolski with his left and can use both feet. Got good hold up play and can bring his teammates into game. A good passer of the ball. A calm finisher in front of goal and has that element of unpredictability in his play

  41. emma says:

    re: adler

I am 50:50 on this one. Dont think he is better than Fabianski but way better than Szezesny. He was German no1 keeper before his season long injury which set him back. He was later moved on by Leverkusen as he was unable to secured his No1 spot in the club and joined Hamburg. He still hasn’t discovered that level he was pre-injury. Could be a risk worth taking considering he was very good before the season long injury that set him back. He was the keeper in goal in 9-2 mauling by the bavarians 2/3wks ago. But I wouldn’t blame him cause hamburg’s defence was shambolic and could have been double figures if he had not made some vital saves.

  42. emma says:

rico – You are right. It will be so painfully if we allow this deal to slip off b/s he is what we need

  43. Kevin KJ Downton says:

Hello all, blood is boiling I am afraid:

Arguably the richest club in World football wins the Premier League and we are supposed to applaud them? Man Utd and their manager have always enjoyed every possible advantage. This is always ignored and Red Nose the bully is lauded as some kind of genius. Really? Not only can they attract virtually any player, they can afford them. They have a history of £20 to £30 million signings from before Rio; they have opposition teams running scared because of who they are and wield such power that even match officials are intimidated. Referees who go against them rarely get another game. Reporters who ask diffciult questioned are banned from future press conferences.

So again I ask. Why are we expected to salute this club winning the Premier League? Stuff the press, they will slaughter us whatever happens they loathe us and always have. I say we fans should should show Man Utd, the FA and fellow football fans just what we really think about that horrible club. Handshakes and salutes are as plastic as the fans that support clubs like Man Utd. Lets get stuck into the bullys and make RVP choke on his £48 Million wages.

  44. emma says:

rico – It’s got like the ‘Podolski deal’ written all over it. Probably announced at the end of the season as Fiorentina are chasing a champions league spot in Serie A

  45. tsgh says:

    Hi all,

Liverpool are 4th best tacklers in EPL, Arsenal are 2nd but who’s first?

Some very good facts about the defensive unit of the team

    Arsenal – 78.8%

Coming just ahead of Fulham are the runners-up at present, Arsenal, with 78.8%.

While their defensive ability as a unit is never in question, it’s more a concentration issue, this will surprise many Arsenal fans who accuse the bac four of not getting stuck in enough.

That is the time fans can lift the atmosphere when we have missed a few chances ….

tsgh – it and out mate – working as i flick in read a few posts then head off again ha! I am good mate thanks, what about you?

  59. eastsidepaul says:

How about we do something nuts against United and play Arshavin up front behind Podolski???!

Nothing to lose, give it a go.

  60. Micko says:

Howdy tsgh, another week at the fun factory nearly over.

So we either applaud the Northern Monkeys, turn our backs on them or have another pint downstairs, it’s a tough call.

  61. stevepalmer1 says:

    Evening all,
Nice one Rico, Forget Zaha who can blame a player whether he supports the Arsenal or not for going to United. Bigger wages and more chance of winning something. Arsenal are now a club who have to swallow twice if the price of a player goes above £8 mill what chance have you got of winning things with that outlook. City Utd and the Chavs will spend and they will pick most of the prizes up you know that as well as me, we are a skinflint club who have been extremely lucky for many years, we get top four and Champions League for peanuts but we are still a miserly club. High ticket prices and adoring fans are all Arsenal are at present . Next season will be a bit of the same.

  62. agirlagunner says:

And Cristiano Ronaldo, of course. 😛 Just to spite Red Nose, rico. 😀

SSP!!! Not a happy bunny, are you?

  63. agirlagunner says:

I know, rico. AW owes it to us having gone on and on and on about how he could have signed Cristiano Ronaldo. 😀

    How are you?

  64. rico says:

    He sure does agag…

I’m good thanks as I hope you are…?

Now though, I’m off to the kitchen to get dinner 😉

  65. rico says:

Bloomin heck Ts, that is ridiculous money….

emma – maybe they know RvP is a game away from a long term injury 😉

Some suggest its Rooney, others Hernandez. Shame we didn’t get the latter as part of the RvP deal…

  66. tsgh says:

    Hi Rico and Emma…

Its serious money being brandished when people are starving…

These kind of amounts make PHW feel good about their club 😉

  67. rico says:

Celebrity PR guru Max Clifford is charged with ELEVEN counts of indecent assault by police investigating Jimmy Savile abuse…

Get out of that one Max….

  68. rico says:

Hi Ts, but the two are gulfs apart and will never meet…. And to be honest, we have to try and separate the two although I understand where you are coming from….

PHW doesn’t have a club, he’s just a tagger on these days isn’t he?

  69. rico says:

Inter Milan have been fined £38,000 for ‘the improper conduct of their fans’ during the Europa League tie against Tottenham in March which Emmanuel Adebayor was racially abused.

  70. rico says:

Adam will be hoping Wenger snaps him up 😉

Arjen Robben is the shock casualty of the new Pep Guardiola era at Bayern Munich after being made available for transfer by the recently-crowned Bundesliga champions.

  71. emma says:

rico – Cliff is in a deep mess. No way he is getting away with this

Still waiting for that injury that will keep him out for a long time *judas*

  72. emma says:

rico – Arjen robben is a very talent but lazy player. I forgot to mention selfish as well 😉
    I will pass

  73. tsgh says:

Every one wanted Affellay last summer… LG claimed RVP left because AW refused to sign him… how has his performance been?

His record is the same play well for 10 games … get injured or go missing… always on the blink of world class but never…

AVB claiming 70 minutes Van Der Fart 😛 is world class…. classic. His excuse of the scum miss out of top 4

  74. emma says:

tsgh – Affelay has spent 95% of his time on the treatment table. he only played 10 matches this season

Forgot to mention Kyle Ebecilo has joined twente on a 4year deal

  75. tsgh says:

Not forgetting that whilst at chelsea he was the original Gerv… no end product but selfish and lazy…

I will give it to him that he has really improved this half of the season in terms of effort. Maybe just to save his career but Pep could see through him…

Just wish AW will be as demanding as that on some of our players..

  76. tsgh says:

    Robben not Affelay…

I agree with you again Emma… but LG wanted him and M’Vila even though he he was injured…

  77. emma says:

rico – UEFA is another bunch of clans. How do you intend to stop racism when you fine inter milan fans £38,000 pounds and the world’s best sort striker Nicolas bendtner was fined £78,000 for displaying his underwear at last years Euro 😉

  78. tsgh says:

conspiracy Emma. I have a friend who did some training with FEMA and some of the things he tells me is shocking… most institutions are racist…

  79. potter says:

The world is racist , it’s in human nature to distrust different cultures. It’s how you handle it that matters.

  80. emma says:

UEFA and FA are not doing enough to clamp down on racism. Why should a player get a 10man ban for biting and someone who racially abuses someone gets a 7match ban. What about someone who maims his opponent(shawcross-ramsey) and he gets a 3 match ban.

  81. tsgh says:

There is no justice in this world…

we are all slaves on a huge plantation… that is why we have to pay even when dead to be buried…

They go on about global warming and over population when they drive v12 cars etc…

  82. rico says:

There was always something ‘different’ about Clifford, didn’t think it was this though. IF of course he is guilty…

Robben is horrid, nearly as bad as Joey Barton…

As for the £38,000 fine, an absolute disgrace. Players earn that in just 3 days – £380,000 wouldn’t be enough…..

  83. tsgh says:

its due to all the none footballing stuff I go on about…

Emma have you got a list of potential grade B strikers we can go for?

Because the world has 5 grade A* strikers that can move this summer… Cavani, Falcao, Aguero, Lew and Suarez… Villa is too old and llorente I never rated; same as huntelaar who everyone who and his dog on LG thought we were stupid not to buy…

  84. rico says:

emma – re Shawcross. It’s the intent. Can’t be proved when a thug like him makes a bad tackle….

If it could, footballers would be in front of a magistrate each Monday morning….

  85. tsgh says:

Clifford is part of the institution… he will make the right calls and pay the right dues and get a white wash. unless of course he has truly pissed someone off…

look at Lauryn hill who is now been forced back into main stream music through the same scheme… owing tax.

    Its the biggest con…

  86. tsgh says:

    Top scorers 2012/2013
    Rank Player Club Goals
1 Robert Lewandowski Borussia Dortmund 23
    2 Stefan Kießling Bayer 04 Leverkusen 21
3 Mario Mandzukic FC Bayern Munich 15
    4 Adam Szalai FSV Mainz 05 13

Huntelaar 7 goals this year… even Gerv can do better 😉

  87. tsgh says:

Maybe I am harsh on Klaas he has been injured, he has been injured since March 10th…

top striker with Abou Dhabi’s dna…

  88. rico says:

Gervinho, do better than Huntelaar???? 😮 😮

Good time for me to say goodnight….

    Have agood evening folks..

    Night all….

  89. tsgh says:

someone has to take the fall… I believe.

I have even heard about some of the rumours in the past…. like saville people knew…

Anyway the truth always comes out somehow 😉

  90. emma says:

tsgh – Jovetic of Fiorentina, Lukaku, Benteke, Kiessling of leverkusen, lamela of roma, couple more I can’t remember

  91. tsgh says:

I bet Lukaku regrets snobbing us 2 years ago before he joined Chelsea… I forgot about Lamela but 21and Latino… only a few make it in the EPL but very good for his age…

  92. emma says:

tsgh – I guess that suites him right. I doubt if he will play for chelsea again as they are now after Falcao. That spells the end for maskman torres

  93. emma says:

I think ba wil stay unless he is willing to take a pay cut and move to another club. I doubt he will take that option

  94. tsgh says:

on the rhs I just noticed Rico has left out Fernando Amorebieta linked with move from Athletic Bilbao… he nearly joined on the last day in january… free transfer too… my money is on him as a 4th choice defender if we can’t get Williams..

  95. tsgh says:

Ba may pick up a medal in Europe… lucky

Emma are you from the city of culture or just living there 😉

  96. tsgh says:

kool… and you don;’t like horse racing 😀

You love your football… what do you do for a living if you don’t mind me asking… 😮

  97. tsgh says:

It seems Steve Bruce’s boys hull will have to wait before they get promoted… watford are winning
