Jens steals the glory, Chances are coming & bad boy Bendtner strikes again.

Morning all.

It’s great to have the internet back again, no, not because I’m now able to write some drivel for Highbury House but I can watch the cricket and Alistair Cooks last batting innings in an England shirt. Please don’t tell me he’s already out…

I didn’t get to see the Arsenal v Real Madrid game which was disappointing but from what I’ve read, Jens Lehmann was up to his old tricks. He wasn’t down to start the game but low and behold, David Seaman suffered an injury so the mad but loveable German stepped up, literally. 0-0 at full time so penalties were required to decide the result. One successful spot kick was needed to seal the win and Tomas Rosicky was the man responsible. That was until Jens grabbed the ball, plonked it on the spot and fired his kick into the back of the net. That’s him all over isn’t it, likes to be in the limelight. I mean that in a kind way.  Anyway, our old boys got revenge for the defeat earlier in the year. Not sure how much money the two clubs raised together but regardless, it’ll do some good for many people.

Back to the internationals which have been taking place over the last few days. Danny Welbeck scored for England then was left livid no doubt as the referee disallowed it. Goodness knows why though as his challenge for the loose ball was fair, certainly according to Mark Clattenburg who has since suggested that VAR would have overturned the decision, a big decision it was too as England would have salvaged a draw.

Someone in the media chose to try and stir up trouble for Welbeck and Arsenal by asking him about the lack of playing time at his club and whether it’s having an impact on his international career where he’s not getting much time on the pitch either but he made it clear that’s he’s not going to panic:

“No, I’m going to give it my best. In training I’m going to train hard, make sure that I’m ready. When an opportunity is there, I’m going to take it.”

Great response I thought and just like with Bernd Leno, I can’t see it being too long before both get their chance. In fact next week probably and then it’s down to them. This isn’t Arsene Wenger they have to convince, it’s a guy who I think and hope will be fair by picking players who are in form, not just because of their name or reputation.

Torreira looks to have suffered a bit of a scare in the injury department after being taken off during Uruguay’s match against Mexico. Some reports suggest a clash of heads was the reason, others report its a leg injury. Either way, nothing serious I hope as I reckon this little fella is on the verge of taking the Premier League by storm. For too long now it’s been about Kante, well I hope we soon get to see Torreira bettering him in all departments of his game. He’s quick both with his feet and brain, doesn’t hang onto the ball too long, can pick a pass and keeps the ball moving.

And he’ll be able to run between the taller oppositions legs. 😜

Lastly, bad boy Bendtner is in trouble again after allegedly breaking a taxi drivers jaw. He is a real buffoon isn’t it…

Have a good day guys…

I reckon Cech could learn a few tricks from Jens – when he kicked away from goal he was pinpointing an Arsenal player most of the time and was launching attacks (in slow motion with the old stars) by throwing out quickly and accurately.
I look forward to seeing Leno playing because Cech doesn’t inspire much confidence anymore.
Nice to see Ramsey score for Wales.

So the little feller got either a head knock or a leg injury, as there’s little distance between the two there’s plenty of scope for confusion. 😉

In the photo on line(somewhere) The Terrier had an ice pack around his leg just below the knee……………………..didn`t see him with an ice pack on his head though…………

Only Arsenal for me so not really into other sports, but it was nice to see Alastair Cook in his last game get a maximum 147 break in the Snooker against India.

It wasn’t me, I was in Palmers Green all day, visiting.
The End of the World is Nigh…… 😀

On a more positive note, great to see Cook become the 5th highest run accumulator in cricket history, the highest opener and highest left hander.
Meanwhile Anderson is poised to overtake McGrath – bonzer…

Damn, Kev, I know you’re having a laugh comparing Jimmy to Pigeon 🙂 🙂
You’d have clipped Lord, though, no question 🙂
    How are ya, mate?

Palmers Green Kev? Spud country! It’s where my wife came from.

Maybe we’ll get to see a different Granit Xhaka this evening, playing for Switzerland, any bets on him getting booked?
