Jackson Martinez, again! Kammy the Hero & Crazy Transfer Prices….

Morning all.

Other PL clubs have kicked off their summer transfer window and the two stand outs are Adam Lallana going to Liverpool for a reported £25 million and Luke Shaw to Manchester Utd for a figure reported to be in excess of £30 million.

Crazy, absolutely crazy!

Luke Shaw is just 18 years old, yes he looks and exciting prospect but is he really worth £30 million? No, never in a million years but I guess as Utd had such a poor season, they need to be seen to making changes but we all know what happened when the neighbours did that. Yes they spent big but did it really get them any further forward? The answer is clearly no, in fact their big spending seems to have done more harm than good.

Adam Lallana, yes, he looks good, but £25 million? No, not in my opinion.

Both of those transfer costs fall victim of the over inflated prices that clubs have to pay to sign an Englishman and it’s crazy, especially when a player with the quality of Alexis Sanchez is reported to be valued at £20 million and look what is has done during his career.

Meanwhile Man City are on the verge of signing young Argentine midfielder Bruno Zuculin for just £3 million!

Anyway, both Liverpool and Man Utd were prepared to pay that kind of money to get the players so what I think matters not.

In fact I am far more concerned about who are club are going to sign and when but none of us have the answers. We just have to sit, wait and then hope that we get the right players for the right positions and come the start of the season, we are truly ready for the challenge ahead.

Jackson Martinez is back on the radar according to reports in the newspapers. On the way out could be Mikel Arteta as Athletic Bilbao are keen to sign him.

Love him....
Love him….

Good old Kammy stopped a street robber in Brazil, he held him down and then handed him to the police on their arrival. Bet we’d never see Adrian Chiles or Alan Hansen do that!!

Finally, the World Cup continues tonight with the first knock-out fixtures.

Brazil v Chile is at 5pm

Columbia  v Uruguay at 9pm

Both should be pretty tasty……

That’s it for another day…

I’m off on my holibobs, catch you in a weeks time.

Hopefully they’ll be a signing or two by then…..

    Be nice to Wath…. 😉

  2. tsgh says:

I have said it in the past; if English football (national team) will go forward the Dykes and co of this world should be insisting English players should become reasonably priced and not blame foreign buys …

I know legally this can’t be enforced but still its a mindset

  3. Omojola says:

Wish u a splendid holibobs. I think the best thing is to stay away from rumours cos i dont see us signing any player until after the world cup

  4. Micko says:

    It’s alright for some !
Rest in Peace Bobby Womack, great singer song writer, love Across 110th Street.

    Morning all from Cyprus.

Chris Kamara – Top lad – You’ve just got to love him.

I know one of his ‘relations’ from Doncaster. He ran the doors for a time.

  7. HenryB says:

A very good Post to finish on, Rico.

I heard Kamara giving his story on the radio, and he said he got carried away and would not chase anyone like that again, as the police told him it could have ended very badly for him.

    Have a great holiday! 🙂

  8. Scott from Oz says:

    Morning all.
Rumours suck, buts it all we have ATM.
I’m at the SCG to watch the Sydney Swans
And am colder than at any point during my North London visit!!
    Frigging freezing!!!
    Anyways, catch you all later!

  9. Sukky says:

if I were Arsene.I think I’d just need 4 signings.Javi Martinez, alexie sanh,Aurier and a goalkeeper(mark schz. Is free I guess) but too bad am not Wenger.

  10. Xr!s says:

Southampton are doing themselves no good. they let their manager leave and now,Lambert, lallana, shaw and maybe Lovren and Morgan are one foot out of the door. they still have Osvaldo on their books who was such a bad buy.

My question is,are they so poor to let these players and manager leave? I’ve always liked Southampton for their style of play and academy so it will hurt to see them fight for relegation next season.

    Morning All

  11. Wath says:

    Morning you lot……

Have fun Rico and don’t worry about HH it’s be a quiet week am just gonna throw them all in the sin bin so I can put my feet up…

    Micko’s is first of course…! Womack n Womack… Teardrops… mega choon…..

I think with the fact these English players are being sold for such ridiculous prices it shows why clubs buy from abroad, way better value. Also think it shows we also not looking at anyone from the failed England squad. Good would be my response to that.

  12. southyorkshiregunner says:

Hot young Ginge. Been to the gym this morning. Currently having air conditioning fitted upstairs by the Greek equivalent of the fcukng ‘chuckle brothers’. Hoping to get to the beach later.
    How are you mate?

  13. Wath says:

Scott, you big jessie…. anyone would think it’s cold in Oz….! wrap a sheep round ya… you know you wanna 😉

  14. Gonerjoe says:

Rico enjoy your break, 30m or so for Shaw we better start taking better care of Gibbs and Jenkinson.

  15. agirlagunner says:

Enjoy your hols, rico. 🙂 🙂 Send me photos. 😛

Belated happy birthday, GG Man! You a “golden” boy now? 😀 Hope the vodka and wine flowed freely! 😉

The prices these English players fetch is OTT. Shaw and Lallana are good, but not that good as to warrant those mad prices. 😕

  16. Wath says:

Sorenson is also free he been released by Stoke…. Another keeper worth a look at as experienced back up surely..?

  17. Wath says:

Evening AGAG, thank you… I can assure you the GG and the wine flowed very freely….! I did you proud 😉

Also think the money quoted for Matinez is madness as well, he’s 28 now…! No thanx, not for me…!

It just has to be “S” all day long….! Ts, I won’t ask what you’d do if we pull off coup of the decade and get “S” and Vidal….!?!?!?

  18. tsgh says:

You leaving me with not much choice Wath? lol

    Hi Agag…

Syg, I read there are some Gambian crocodiles around where you are… 🙂

  19. agirlagunner says:

“S” and Vidal would be a great start, WATH. And we see our future players tonight play v. Brazil. Now that we have culled soooo many from the payroll, it’s looking positive.

  20. southyorkshiregunner says:

Ginge – When they slung fish in the pond over in Gambia it was like a scene from James Bond in ‘Live and Let Die’. There were hundreds of them.

Factoid. I never knew that they didn’t have tongues? Rows and rows of big fcuk off teeth but no tongues?

    Your lad would love it.

  21. Bt62 Gooner says:

Rico, hope you have a good one, maybe your off to join AW on a Brazilian beach! “S”, Vidal and Falcao drat woke with face in the cornflakes again!! Morning one and all.

  22. Scott from Oz says:

    Lol Wath.
Funny thing is there are a heap of idiots in their mid 20’s here all dresses up to look good, and are shaking in their seats!!!!
I hope I was never that stupid or vain!!!

  23. southyorkshiregunner says:

    Hiya AGAG.

Scott – Tell them to go buy cup of Oxo if they’re cold…

Had my first drink of the lousy stuff at a Friday night match at Belle Vue when I was a kid…

For the record there was an ardent Donny Rovers supporter who had the moniker of “Zig-a-zagger” and that’s all he ever used to shout….

  24. El Tel 1 says:

    Have a great holiday Rico.

How is it that we are always linked to so many players and usually get none of them.

I reckon Arsene was a KGB General, he never lets anything slip.

Neymar would be a brilliant signing for us.

  25. Wath says:

Micko, Sports direct are selling the Arsenal shirt so Arsenal Australia have obviously stocked them up…. I think Scott been winding you up not sending you one…!

  26. goonster says:

Oh God not WATH anyone but WATH. We re doomed I tells ya. Dooomed. Morning HH. How y’all doing? Men I sound like a southern plank already. God help me.

  27. goonster says:

Luke Shaw huh?? Good player and I totally understand and accept the price tag. I mean Andy Carroll went for 30 million 😀

  28. fatgun-ug says:

Gdmrng all HHers wait till we are linked with a 40m bid for tom cleverly. By the way, where is lescot, is he not supposed to be with us since he is.a freebie with prem experience?

  29. Wath says:

I’m gonna beat Micko to it… Prediction for the day is for Chile to beat Brazil later….!

Awaits the abuse from AGAG later when Brazil win 3-1….!

  30. goonster says:

WATH that’s not gonna happen in a million years. Brazil ll triumph imo. Fifa won’t want the host to leave this early. The fans need to throng to stadiums to see other games. With Brazil out they might lack the motivation or enthusiasm to go. So Brazil over Chile my kind sir.

  31. Wath says:

We shall see Stan, I hear what your saying re Brazil and FIFA and with some of the decisions already in their games you’d think there is something going on for sure but Brazil for me are poor…! Worst Brazil side in a long time. I just have a sneaky feeling for Chile. Will be a good game though I reckon and so to the Colombia game as well. Lets hope the free scoring open games continue…..

  32. goonster says:

I really want a new name on that trophy WATH. Tired of seeing Brazil Germany Italy lifting the trophy aloft. It ll be good for football for a different team to win it. My choice is the oranje 😀

  33. goonster says:

Haha now it’s arturo vidal??? Come on now. 44m quid for him is pretty steep. Plus we won’t get him because we have a certain welsh jesus. Whom Imho ll be the best midfielder in the world next year. Just needs to stay injury free.

  34. Wath says:

We can’t have the orange idiots winning it Stan imagine how mouthy Perstrings will be then…………. No thanx…. If it’s to be an outsider I’d prefer it was someone like Chile to be honest, none of the others are good enough, Colombia will be interesting to see when they play one of the bigger sides.

  35. goonster says:

    Hahahahahahhaha oranje idiots WATH
..really. Am dutch you mongrel. Who do you expect me to root for? The three lioness*spits*

  36. Wath says:

I’d pay that kind of money for Vidal if he was 25….! Imagine him and Aaron together. I like Schneiderlin for the money and the fact he’s got prem lge experience is the bonus. What you think of Daryl Janmaat Stan…?

  37. agirlagunner says:

WATH, Micko should predict a Brazil victory, to get the desired results. Chile for the win!!

goonie, you know better than to expect the Oranje not to implode. At some point, they will. 😀 They always do.

  38. goonster says:

WATH the cup needs to stay on continental Europe plus we need to break the voodoo of never winning a world cup outside Europe. Someone’s gotta break that jinx. Each world cup hosted in the Americas have been won by a south American team. No WATH we ve gotta support the oranje. For motherland and for Europe 😀

  39. goonster says:

Howdy agag….not this time around maam. We aee motivated. Just hope that prick robben won’t be too selfish. Gosh I hate that fuck faced bastard. Grrrr

  40. Wath says:

Stan your so predictable…… Have you choked on that line I threw in your direction…..

Oranje idiots…. That’s what my Ajax mates calls them lol Yes I know you love Ajax as well 🙂

  41. Wath says:

Am with AGAG, you know Holland will bottle it at some point….! If it’s to be a european win then as said as it is for me to say this I’d rather it was the krauts or the frogs purely for the Arsenal connection.

  42. agirlagunner says:

goonie, nobody likes Robben, least of all Arsenal fans, but he’s been delivering the goods. Sneijder needs to step up his game though; he’s been mediocre.

  43. Wath says:

    Ajax “xxx”….. My other team Stan… 🙂

Just to upset you some more lol

Come on then, what do you think of Janmaat…?

  44. Wath says:

Good call AGAG, i think Sneijder has actually been crap….! He is one of the players who is the weak link in the side in my opinion. Past it…???

  45. Wath says:

Ever since Vidal has been mentioned in the same sentence as Arsenal Ts has gone very quiet…. Do we think he has palpitations and is suffering from stressful anticipation of creaming..?

  46. agirlagunner says:

Agree, WATH. I think the Krauts have the most potent line-up of the Europeans although I’m not so convinced by their defense. Boateng is a weak link. And Hummels is easily undone by speed. On the other hand, the Frogs have had the chance to experiment with theirs set-up and rotate players and I should imagine Deschamps still has a few tricks up his sleeves.

Maybe, your adoptive country U-S-A will win it, goonie. Looool. You have “world-beaters” in Dempsey, Howard et al. 😀

  47. agirlagunner says:

ginge will faint if we sign “S” or Vidal. I am sure of it. And he will give up his stats. 😆

  48. Wath says:

I think Ts is sulking because I’m going to sin bin his stats this week 😉

Germany def lack pace at the back but the rest of the side is technically very good and can possibly make up for the lack of speed defensively by offering adequate cover. Also they potent going forward and have goals in them from all over the pitch.

As you say AGAG, for the first time in many years the frogs actually look like a team…!

  49. goonster says:

Come on now…not Germany. They are the hated enemy remember? Plus you know they still haven’t forgiven you lot for that 1966 world cup final. I say we support the dutch. Come on its the only right thing to do.

  50. Wath says:

Supporting the orange idiots means supporting that turd Robben and the other turd Perstrings…. Sorry Stan, can’t be done mate…!

Shows how low I have to go to say I’d prefer to see the krauts win…! Per, Poldi and Ozil would be buzzing for the new season so the up side for us could be good.

  51. Wath says:

JM, now Ts will be on those sites gathering yet more stats to bore us with…………. lol 🙂

  52. agirlagunner says:

The one thing I can’t stand about the Krauts is the number of BM players. Eeeek. I was really happy to see our three boys sart the last time though.

  53. agirlagunner says:

JM, you another stat guy? 😀

Goonie, when Judas v. Pursey was still an AFC player, it made sense to support the Dutch. Now, the idea is just revolting.

  54. Wath says:

Have to agree AGAG and watching Muller diving around like a big tart is just pathetic…. He is the best over ice skater I have seen on a football pitch..! Always falling over… six forward rolls three sideways turns and holds his face… talented…!

  55. Joaquim Moreira says:

    and why not?
I think France will be in the next round. Nigeria have problems…
    Brazil too. Play with 15…
Colombia and Greece probably the surprises
    The others 4 games 50% v. 50%

  56. goonster says:

WATH that made me choke on my cereal…hahahahahahhaha diving around like big tart. That’s comedy. Hahahahhaahahahahahahahahhahah.

  57. goonster says:

But seriously guys…you guys need to support the oranje. Fuck van herpes and arjen. We need to win this. My country deserves to win it. To rid ourselves of that perennial underachievers jibe
I don’t see you guys hating on the Spanish when they won it. Come on now. Oranje all the way. What do you say WATH? I ll make sure you get a life time supply if GG. Be a pal and support the oranje.

  58. tsgh says:

Goonie,I told you from day 1 to have faith in the Oranje… I won’t mind Blind as our new DM if AW decides he won’t pay more than £14m for an epl based defensive minded player as per usual…
Jm,F3m is one of my libraries 😉

  59. goonster says:

WATH your 3.30 is up there as one of the best I ve read on any blog anywhere….just stop laughing. Hahahahahahahah

  60. Wath says:

Sorry Stan, I’ll be pleased for you if they win it but I don’t want them to win if due to those two turds mentioned….!

Muller is a massive cheating diving tart…! Amazing how many snipers in the stadium manage to shoot him so many times during a game…!

  61. goonster says:

Ginge blind reminds me of a certain coont I loved to hate and men was he a legend for the oranje and Barcelona. Sign him up says I.

  62. goonster says:

So you re willing to sacrifice a whole nation for two mugs? That’s harsh WATH. My dad’s spirit turned in his grave.

  63. tsgh says:

Medel doing what he does best…
Vidal off the ball movement is just classy…
    Another Bremen product…

  64. goonster says:

Vidal is a beast ts….I fear for us if any of our rivals get their hands on him. God help us all.

  65. Micko says:

Brazil haven’t lost a competitive match at Belo Horizonte for 25 years ! Last one, Peru in the 80’s.
Chile it is then, extra time and penalties.

  66. Micko says:

Hi stan, the dutch, probably the best footballing nation not to win the WC.
This one’s come too early for them, they’re being readied for 2016 & 18.

  67. snaparse says:

game really can go either way…..nice game to watch……Vidal ran 9km on his 3rd game since returning from injury……seriously the game is a monster

  68. Micko says:

tsgh, that was a bloody good chicken impression !!!

Brazil deserved it over the 90 minutes let alone the 120.

Looks like we’ll be seeing more of Fred and Joe, they sound like a couple of cowboy builders not brazilian footballers.

  69. Micko says:

Me too Gdna, posting mine direct to arsene, don’t think I can stomach another topless video of him strutting around the beach in brazil.

  70. Gunnerdna says:

Ag, the harsh reality is Brazil will be there at the end. People complaining how they are a poor but failed to realize that some of these same players dominate club football across Europe. Individualism is the problem, if they can cut it out they will be champions.

  71. agirlagunner says:

Micko, your prediction record is off the charts! 😛

GDNA, I can’t stand Neymar, but he is the only Brazilian player to have scintillated. And to be fair, he has stayed on his feet in Brazil. That is no mean feat since he spends more time splayed out on the pitch after taking a tumble when playing for Barfa.

  72. tsgh says:

Micko, I agree re Brazil over the 90 minutes;Chile were relentless but as I have said last November when I saw them in Wembley, outside Chile’s first12 or 14 players the standard really drops…

  73. Micko says:

Gdna, generally I don’t trust men with beards or antipodeans either but I’m willing to give scott the benefit of doubt on this one, he better come through for me !
Brazil, nailed on for the semi’s but will fall short, you can find it in your heart to put up with them for another 180 minutes agag.

  74. Gunnerdna says:

First team to qualify for the quarterfinals and aren’t playing the well, substance over style imo.

  75. agirlagunner says:

I thought Brazil were unconvincing. Chile scored both goals, and have to go home. Too bad that Chile once again came up “short”. 😉

  76. Micko says:

tsgh, penalties are a lottery, a strong Chile team against an average brazil team, an opportunity missed.
    Laters guys.

  77. tsgh says:

Goonie, Cuadrado doing his thing… a bit too confident so far but he likes to take on defenders…

    Kev,
Chris Willock has said Happy to say I have signed for Arsenal today.
Looking forward to seeing play with Dan Crowley next season.
Jeorge Bird has also stated that Jan Toral signed a new contract in April . Now Arsene how about Morgan Sanchez and James.

  81. Scott from Oz says:

Funny, but when Micko says it, it’s humorous, but when you say it DNA it’s just boring.

    Sell Ramsey.
Hope Wenger doesn’t wake up when he goes to sleep tonight.
Just a taste of some of your brilliant comments.

  82. BrainwashedKev says:

    Great news Rick re: Willock.

Let’s hope his younger brother, in the Arsenal Schoolboys, is just as good and follows his more intelligent brother, Chris, by signing for the Gunners..,

  83. BrainwashedKev says:

Rick, more good news re: Toral…

Hope he is over his niggling injuries and can get in a full season…

Hi Scott, you are in the zone today… 😉

  84. BrainwashedKev says:

James Rodriguez is quite a player, or he is for Colombia…

Funny how a lot these guys raise their game for their National teams.
And how ordinary they can be at club level…?!!!

I have been most impressed by 3 or 4 of the French team and a few of the Dutch.
    Not seen the Germans yet.

  85. Scott from Oz says:

Kev, I always am when the cheap shots come out lol.
    Still, he should realise it’s not a fair fight 🙂 🙂 🙂

  86. Wavy says:

It’s a shame our boys can’t or don’t raise their game(s) when they play for Ingerland! They always look good in the EPL but when they put on the ‘shirt’ they under perform 100%!
It’s no wonder we can’t win the world or any other cup! Or is it because our players are just over paid, arrogant, ability starved….crap! The latter I think. Over hyped, over paid and over here over rated numpties!

Yet another positive post from me! I am in therapy!

  87. Scott from Oz says:

Wavy, if you look at the top…let’s say 20….players in the PL, how many are actually English though?
I joked recently the best two British players are Welsh.
It says a lot, I reckon.

  88. Scott From Oz says:

By the way, I’m not saying you are wrong at all, as yes, they are ! In General, overhyped, over priced and over rated.

  89. BrainwashedKev says:

    Morning Wavy/Scott

    Overhyped by our unrealistic/ignorant Press/Media.

Overpaid because the rules that state that English clubs must have a certain percentage of English players, and due to the rarity of any, with talent, their value has rocketed.

Overrated because they play among foreign players, who cover for their tactical and technical deficiencies…

And don’t forget the poor level of coaching,at the development levels, in the English game.
That’s the fault of our useless FA…

And taking out of the equation, the obscene amounts thrown at young English ‘talent’,why do we not see more of them taking a chance and joining foreign academies in an effort to grow as players/individuals whilst developing different skills etc…?

    Lazy perhaps?
    Immature?
    Not good enough?

  90. BrainwashedKev says:

And at Arsenal we have nothing to crow about either…

18 years under Arsene Wenger’s watch, and arguably the best English player to come through the system remains Ashley Cole…

And he learnt most of his core skills before Wenger arrived and Wenger almost got rid of him…

So the benefits to our home-made young player development under Arsene Wenger, has been what exactly???

  91. BrainwashedKev says:

What has Mourinho done for the benefit of developing young English talent through the Chelsea Academy…

What has any of the foreign owners or managers done for that matter…?!!!

    Thank God for Southampton…

  92. frednerk says:

    Morning All,
Kev one of the so called best academys in london is run by a geezer who has no football experience playing wise, yet this club feels he knows the area better than most.Lazy or what.
