It’s Official, They’re Off! Arsene Finally Admits We Have A Problem….

Hes Off
Santa And His Reindeer Will Be With You Soon…….

Morning all.

Arsene Wenger on the defence:

They should be talking, yes. Maybe they do talk but it doesn’t look like that when you look at the pictures. Of course it’s important to have someone organising.

Sometimes it’s just one yard forward or backward that makes a difference.

You want somebody to take the leadership there.

He’s right, we have no leadership whatsoever and not only in defence and if he wants that to change, he’s got to sign a player of such ilk next month. At the start of it, not the end.

He’s also admitted he’s overplaying Calum Chambers:

For a 19 year old player, he has played too many games. They all hit the wall after 15, 17 games.

You have to give them a breather, refresh and get them back again. And at the moment, to have that responsibility in every single game is a lot on a player of that age.

No surprise there eh and that all comes down to not replacing Thomas Vermaelen in the summer.

The manager has to sign a strong and experienced defender who leads by example and goes about his business at the back as Alexis does up front. The same applies to the midfield, we need a general in there, not Flamini and the only way to get that is by signing one!

The general opinion of the fans is that Arsene Wenger is past it, he doesn’t know how to change things because he’s stuck in 2004. He’s got one month to prove people wrong because who we have centrally both in defence and midfield right now just aren’t good enough and even talking more wouldn’t resolve our problems.

At least he has admitted we have a problems, although it’s taken him an awfully long time to do so.

Other news from the manager’s Press Conference is mixed but in the main, good.

Laurent Koscielny and Hector Bellerin should be back on Sunday to face West Ham away. Good news.

David Ospina and Tomas Rosicky are available for the QPR game which makes little difference to the squad in my opinion as neither have been selected very often when fit.

Mikel Arteta has suffered a little set-back in his recovery from injury and won’t be back before the New Year but Aaron Ramsey could be back to face Southampton on New Years Day.

Theo Walcott is good to go on Boxing Day and he’s as quick as he ever was according to the manager and the biggest news is Mesut Ozil is back. Back in training and ready to play next month..

Busy time for all Premier League sides now with three matches in just six days. Wow, how will this fragile old bunch cope….?

Arsene thinks it’s a time to take advantage, go on a good run and get a bucket load of points… Me, I just think about how will the Arsenal players stop Charlie Austin scoring and how we can batter ‘Arry’s lot!

It’ll be tough, every game is tough because we keep making silly mistakes and playing like a Sunday Pub League side.

In the Gossip pages:

Arsenal are watching Nantes’ French Under-21 midfielder Jordan Veretout. (Mirror)

Edinson Cavani has outstayed his welcome at PSG paving the way for a blockbuster move to Arsenal. (Express)

Lukas Podolski is linked to Inter Milan.

That’s it for Christmas Eve. Whatever you good people are up to, I hope you enjoy the day and have a lovely evening as you wait for the big guy in red to arrive safely.

To You And Your Families....
To You All And Your Families….

Have a wonderful time……

    Hi Rico
So Chambers has hit the wall! Begs the question why the hell play him at Right-Back against the dippers? Particularly against Sterling when he had been roasted against Swansea! He’s mad, mad I tell you………………………………!!!!!!!!!!

  2. allezkev says:

    Morning Rico

    Good post…

    Good Morning Everybody…

Outside it’s quite mild for the time of year.
A little cloudy but with some blue sky trying to pop out.

    The temperature is around 10*c…

Ok that’s the weather report from South London…

  3. rico says:

Morning Bob. That decision threw me a bit too. Had Bellerin been fit, perhaps he’d have started..

Who knows really, I’m just guessing… Monreal was fit so why not play him CB and Debuchy right back….

Sanatogen might be better, Too many looked tired against Liverpool especially towards the end . but that’s life under Wenger.

  5. Wavy says:

    Good moaning (hallo hallo voice)

You know I think he’s lost in a time warp!
It’s not Chambers that needs the Sanatogen it’s the good old man! Harold Wilson, before he lost it swore by Wincarnis Tonic Wine. He and Mary used to share a bottle every night, before he forgot what it was for! Wenger in the same boat do you think?
Someone wrote yesterday that Arsene was stuck in 2004 and has made no progress since. I agree with the author. Sadly like all geniuses his time has run out and his revolutionary ideas have evaporated. We’re left now with a husk of a man living by his principles but without the wherewithal to carry them out. He needs a successor! And quicklyormaybe he just needs a bit of help? Even the most totalitarian of dictators had their lieutenants, not Wenger because he is Lord of all, except he can’t cope any longer.
But, I hope he has a very merry Christmas and we all have a prosperous new year, and him too!
I wonder what Santa Wenger has in his transfer sack for us? We shall soon see!……..or not!

With the prospect of snow next month the two snowy games that I remember well are going to Sheffield Wednesday for the 3rd round FA Cup in 1979 at the start of our cup winning run and a New Years Day visit to Southampton around the same time. Sheffield Wednesday were a third tier team in those days managed by Jack Charlton. We left Highbury on a coach not knowing if the game would go ahead and Pat Jennings was pelted with snowballs by the Wednesday Kop but no action was taken! This was the first game of a five game marathon and I managed to get to all of them! The Southampton game was an 11.00 am kick-off on New Years morning so you can imagine a train full of hungover/still pissed Gooners leaving Waterloo not knowing if the game would be on. Luckily we won 1-0, hopefully an omen! Happy days!!

  7. potter says:

Thanks for that Lee , just read it . The next game that I won’t have companions so might use the train is Leicester at home in February . A return ticket plus the oyster card would only be about £ 25 .oo . Will talk to my son and if he isn’t going I might just have a go at it. Leave home at 3.00 p.m and back 1 a.m. . I’ve done worse in the past.

  8. potter says:

Snowy games , I remember a home match against Everton , it was so cold that even the North Bank cuppa couldn’t keep your hands warm. It was a boring 0 -0 and most of the crowd had gone by 20 minutes from the end . Kind of a forerunner for today’s crowd really.

  9. Hell Raising Devil says:

I have seen AFC at highbury three times in the past. Twice there was snow. Against Derby we won 3-0, against Fulham it was 0-0 and 2-0 against Everton. That was all in the eighties. So essentially I have yet to see Arsenal concede a goal.

And oh yes…….I saw Tin Tin score with a half volley.

  10. BT62 Gooner says:

Just jumped on to wish our Aussie cousins Scott and OZ, A happy, fun filled and above all a safe xmas….

Rick, i missed you yesterday, have a wonderful time with the family mate…

Hope to catch up with the rest of you later!!

  11. Wavy says:

Two snowy games for me. 60’s one finished one didn’t !
Shamefully, I was down the scum with my Dad and a scum season ticket holder, free ticket..Boxing day 1962. The pitch was green at ko the ball was orange by half time and the pich was covered in snow, about an inch and a half by full time! Score 5-0 I think, a Greaves hat trick and a couple more Gizean was one can’t remember the other? But the game got to 90 minutes! The snow melted, finally in May! What a winter!
The other game was also against Sheffield Wed, again during the 60’s can’t remembqer which year. It too started with a green pitch and a white ball, by half time the snow was lying at least 2 inches dee. The game was abandoned even though I think we were 2-0 ahead. I have a feeling we lost the replayed game?

    Happy days!

  12. allezkev says:

Peardrax, hmm Bob, your obviously a man who lives on the edge mate… 😀

I always found it too hard core… 😉

  13. Joaquuim Moreira says:

I’ve watched Arsenal maybe 3 or 4 times… one at highbury versus Chelsea (we won 1-0 or 2-0 good times), one against Leicester (?) we won, another away versus N. forest , we lost 2-0…
Good times, when the prices were down and you were stand up for supporting your team.
I didn’t go to England or London a long time ago (except in airport in transit) but probably I’ii go now to visit the Emirates because watch a game is very expensive and there are no didponible tickets (?)
    Happy Christmas.

  14. rico says:

I’m off for the day folks as friends are coming to dinner and I need to get cooking..

  16. Wavy says:

Happy Christmas everybody everywhere. All Housers and Arsenal fans ans supporters around the globe have a merry Christmas and a prosperous new year.
new year’s resolution ….. Win the EPL ( fat chance) and win the CL ( half chance) win the FA Cup, some chance, well maybe!

Good luck to all and seasonal felicitations.

  17. allezkev says:
