Is Craig Eastmond the reason we don't need Yann M'Vila or Etienne Capoue??

My own answer didn’t require much, if any thought – it’s no with a capital ‘N’.

But, knowing how reluctant Arsene Wenger is to spend mass amounts of money on the type of player we need, is he now looking to fill our void with this not so young any more, Craig Eastmond?

Wenger once said of our Englishman:

I admire his intelligence in reading of the game

I’m not sure how he has come to this conclusion, he’s never really set the world alight in the few appearances he has made for us and in the 2010/11 season, just when one would think he’d be trying to prove his worth, the dreaded injury jinx hit him whilst on loan at his former club Milwall, he broke his ankle during training in April 2011 and was sidelined for a long period of time.

Nearly a year later, January 2012, he made his full return and joined Wycombe Wanderers on loan for the remainder of the season, a loan that was deemed to be successful.

Wycombe were in League One and in his short spell there, Eastmond played fourteen games.

That’s hardly the test for the Premier League is it? Ok, he played and showed that his injury is a thing of the past but if he does have a future at Arsenal, surely it’s not yet.

Sorry if this upsets anyone but I’m hoping that Saturdays inclusion was more about showing the Southampton manager that we have a half decent player in our ranks that would probably fit into his own squad better than he would in ours. After all, it’s about time we did Southampton a favour instead of ‘stealing’ their players or better still, include him in a deal that would see us get Luke Shaw…

I think you get my point, Eastmond is not the answer, Etienne Capoue, Yann M’Vila or someone else very similar, is.

Full training begins today, and by full I mean it’s the return of the Euro players and a new beginning for Podolski and Giroud.

Speculation is that talks between Arsene Wenger and Robin are likely in the next day or so, and there is the small issue of sorting out Theo Walcotts contract too, both need resolving and quickly.

Newspapers have obviously got a little bored with printing stuff about our captain and today they have turned to Theo. According to Fleet Streets finest, both Liverpool and Chelsea are desperate to sign our young winger and we cannot let that happen! Walcotts game will only improve, does anyone really want to see that unfold at another club?

Talking of letting players go, looks like we may not even get this one and that’s M’Baye Niang who has been on trial with us. Reports suggest that Tottenham have now invited him for a trial but Man City are ready to plough in with a huge offer and take the player from right under our noses.

Well what a way to work City!

I hope the player thinks about football at just 17 years old, and not money..

So, a busy time ahead for Wenger and Gazidis – let’s hope they get things right for a change.

Have a good day all….

  1. Lewis says:

    Good day all.
Hoping this will be a ruthless week, I would like both RVP and theo signed, if not then sell them to the highest bidder ASAP.
Massive no to eastmond, not good enough, your prob right about it being a spot of advertising, to show that he is a decent player and could do a job at a smaller club. Would have le coq ahead of him anyday.

  2. Mohd Isa says:

Pennant,Senderos, Walcott,Denilson, etc . Have these players really got the gunners going?IfCraig plays and comes unstuck that will be time wasted.
It’s time for Wenger to move on. If he doesn’t,the board better get someone else. There are many qualified ex managers waiting for the call from arsenal.

  3. francis ejoh says:

@mohd isa, senderos was a key figure in dat famous 2005/06 champions league defence dat did what no oda defence has eva managed to,play 10 games without conceding a goal,we all loved him,he was developing well until wenger out of his love for any player dats french signed gallas, and senderos’ development suffered, senderos dealt wit our ariel treats well,bt wenger jst made him a scape goat after we lost to liverpool in d 2007/08 season, clichy cost us victroy in d birmingham game dat same season,a game most arsenal fans believe cost us the title, but he was nt sent to d bench,bt bcos wenger has dis obsession wit d ucl, senderos had to pay,

  4. francis ejoh says:

And IMHO if we r gonna hav deadwood, let them be our deadwood,i mean homegrown,nt stocking up on some oda people’s deadwood

  5. W.A.T.H says:

I cant see how a player that made hardly any impact at Millwall can even be close to getting a nod for our 1st team, think he’s an ok player but for a championship team maybe no way is he good enough for us.

    Oh and morning all.

  6. eliphas says:

Total rubbish. So long as Arsene is AFC’s Manager, then Arsenal will never win anything in England….Fact.Who’s this Craig?

  7. Bravemartian says:

I thnk the Reason we haven’t gone for Mvilla isn’t Eastmond, but for the Great Talents we have in midfield.,DMs we’ve got Frimpong,Coquelin n Yennaris also Lansbury and Aneke..we should get an Older DM of 29-30 yrs who can teach the mentioned until they Come of age, rather than moving for a 21 yr old, which wil pave way for depature of good talent

  8. South Yorkshire Gunner says:

    Morning Rico
    Agree totally with Lewis
If Liverpool want Walcott, no probs. Flog him
Suarez would work well in our set up.

  9. W.A.T.H says:

Adam, it seems that’s happening far to often these days…!

SYG, if they want Walcott then as long as we go get Moses then no problem in my eyes..!

  10. South Yorkshire Gunner says:

    francis ejoh.
Get your point. I liked Senderos. He was similar to Tony Adams.
Wenger played him out of position at Right back away in the FA cup v’s Blackburn which cost us a 0-1 defeat. He was playing centrally at 0-0, then Wenger brought on a sub and shoved Senderos to RB. His mistake led to the goal.
Silvestre, Sqiull and Djourou were a lot worse.
I can’t see Bartley pulling up any trees neither. Miguel from what I’ve seen… maybe…

Up north, kids that say D and dat and dis – we call them De-Da’s.
The, This and that sounds a lot better francis …

  11. South Yorkshire Gunner says:

I think we sometimes need the original Moses, WATH.
Something to part those two banks of five ….

I’ve no idea how Moses would pan out playing for us..?

  12. Lewis says:

SYG, theo for Suarez works for me! Miguel will probably turn out good and then be tapped up by his ‘DNA’ club, hate those f**ckers.

  13. W.A.T.H says:

SYG, you think even the original Moses could help us..? 😉
We could of got Moses from Palace for a million a few years back but didn’t follow through with a bid after checking him out apparently, I think he’d be good for us thats for sure and seems to have something about him.
If we go out and buy a marquee signing be it “whoever” I still think then loosing RVP wouldn’t be such a great loss. The whole idea of a repeat of last season sits in the back of my mind though. Get players in NOW then get rid of whoever doesn’t want to be there… If they don’t wanna play for us then they can piss off and I don’t care who they are.

  14. South Yorkshire Gunner says:

too true WATH. Players come and go. The club stays.

A media spin on today is “NEYMAR seen at LONDON COLNEY”
    How would that sit?

  15. W.A.T.H says:

The media don’t do “GOOD” Arsenal stories mate you know that……

People think a player leaving leaves the club in crisis or that the club will fall apart, it’s not happened in 126 years it isn’t gonna start now. The thing fans want is intent so if we buy in a quality player and vP leaves then so be it if he leaves and we get 3 weeks of crap in the media about always loosing our bet players and no ambition thats what upsets and annoys the fans and it can be avoided IF we buy in first. Pod and Gir are good buys but they cannot be the sum of our summer transfers.

  16. Wasiu says:

I think we need a better cover for sagna, jenks not ready yet and the prospect of starting the season with him at rb is frightning

  17. Scott from Oz says:

I was about to hit the translate button after reading a few posts 🙂
    Eastmond will go.
He’s been advertised, and did quite well.
    Sean says hello all.
Dad says Sean is off to bed!!!
    Evening all.

  18. Scott from Oz says:

The rumour mill is in full stride.
    Andy Carroll to Arsenal….crap.
    Theo to Anfield….crap.
Koscielny to Barca for 14 millio….utter CRAP.
We paid 10 for him when he was a obody, and now he’s world class….4 million more now than then…who comes up with this drivel?
Afellay is apparently awaiting Arsenals offer…..here’s hoping.
Bendtner to Spurs…..sorry,but I hope not,as if we cut his tongue out,we’d discover we have a bloody good player on the books.
I keep saying it…..gotta love this time of year.

  19. W.A.T.H says:

    Evening Scott, night Sean…. 😉

Hey it’s silly season Scott you know the coup…! I’m still looking for my slang book to work out a few comments mate..!

  20. Tlailaxu says:

…oh dear which ever paper is saying this Keynes story…that IS true as Brazils Olympic squad are using our facilities for training…but journalists know nothing and just come up with some silly stories that they’ve dreamt last night

  21. Scott from Oz says:

    How goes it Wath??
Honestly,I’ve been jumping on for a few minutes, reading all the negative muppets(the blow ins), and just not bothering…..nothing nice to say, don’t say anything lol.
Some of these guys jumping in for one or two comments are just ridiculous, and I’m resisting engaging them….being a good boy for RICO.
Also,I’ve been busy with early starts at work, loading up on sleep before the League starts and the dogs are in full swing with racing now,so time is pretty short.
Highbury Lad goes around again tomorrow night….he’s a healthy, happy dog but against better dogs,so fingers crossed.

  22. Tlailaxu says:

Vernat…totally agree,Francis is gona be legendary for us only he needs a proper master like arteta to play alongside him and later on well have frimpong as a replacement if he manages to stay fit

  23. W.A.T.H says:

Well hope HL has a good run for ya mate and seems like us.. always fighting against bigger fish…!

The one comment wonders ain’t worth the effort Scott, less people are gonna engage in a bit of banter whats the point in a senseless comment?

  24. Scott from Oz says:

I’m just watching the PL’s goal of the season.
    The quality is just unbelievable.
Honestly,do any of us have the right to call ANY player capable of even making one appearance in the League rubbish???

  25. Satan to Saint says:

    Hey Rico.

Agree with you Scott. Eastmond needed to be advertised and he did both himself and club favor. I think we’d get somewhere around 0.75million to 1 million for him. And contrary to what people are saying, he’s good enough to play in P.L. but not for us. Side like Norwich or Swansea who like to pass will do well with him.

  26. Scott from Oz says:

    I agree Wath,but I know what I’m like…..once I bite back I keep going,so best off ignoring them.
Again though,I’ve only been jumping on to see what’s happening for five or ten minutes.

  27. Satan to Saint says:

Rico btw can I get nice devilsome picture now? With nice vampire teeth and devil horns. lol.

  28. South Yorkshire Gunner says:

It’d be nice if he, Henri Lansbury got his chance and stepped up like Wilshere did Rico. I really mean that.

  29. rico says:

    Henri Lansbury:

“It was a great opportunity for the lads to get some minutes under their belts and to win [the Memorial Cup] was a bonus,” he said. “The goal came after a good cross by Jenks and it was nice to get on the end of it.

“I should have scored [against Southampton] as well, but I thought the keeper would clear it. I got a bit excited and fell over!”

Don’t you just love the lad???

  30. W.A.T.H says:

14mil for Koz is rather funny S2S….!! I’d tell em to f-k off even if they offered 25million..!

  31. rico says:

You have to add that yourself Satan, through your wordpress account, upload the picture into gravatar..

  32. vernat1066 says:

Reina and cash for Theo if he wont sign and then buy an attacking midfielder and a winger, maybe Moses from Wigan and ???

  33. rico says:

    SYG –

if he is given a chance, I reckon he will, whether he gets that chance remains to be seen but AW has always spoken very highly of him.

Lewis – yes, he wants to stay is what i read into it….

  34. rico says:

So would I Wath, at least it’s making the club extend his contract..

And they are thinking about £300K for Miquel, they sure are a club with class eh….

  35. Satan to Saint says:

    W.A.T.h.

You know the funniest thing about JV was he didn’t even try selling himself to Barca when they desperately need a defender and that to left footed one.

    Rico,

Creating account is most boring thing in the world.

  36. rico says:

Have to agree there too Wath, they think they are so special, they can take any player from any club – well the biggest attraction has now left so maybe not everyone wants to join the cheating divers….

Citeh come a close second to them with the underhand way they go about their business….

I thought we had first refusal on this Niang kid?

  37. Satan to Saint says:

And if Robin leaves then I’d want Bendy to stay as well. Even if he is a knob head, he genuinely is a good striker. He scored for Sunderland playing on such horrible surface and in even less than mediocre team.

  38. rico says:

    That’s two of us then S2S 😉

Lewis Holtby isn’t saying a lot about his future, wonder where he will end up, surely we wouldn’t start the season with three germans in the squad would we…. could we???

  39. Lewis says:

I mean from the clubs point of view Rico, they normally plug players on the website if they are to be part of future teams. I’m prob reading too much into it.

  40. rico says:

Maybe you are not Lewis, Theo was on a couple of days ago re the Asia tour, now Henri…

But, in this case, I suspect it was just an i/v after the game and he did score…

  41. Scott from Oz says:

Why is it some clubs make offers that reek of arrogance, offers that basically say a player would be lucky to join us,offers like Barca make.
Then theres Citeh,Chelski and Liverppol who are more than happy to pay way over the odds.
Then there’s those in between, those like Arsenal, yet our club cops the most abuse due to the fact we actually pay what a players worth.
On paper,Podolski is the single best signing made so far by any club, and by far…..on face value,as he is yet to prove himself.
At the price though,he’s an absolute steal.
People ask where Wengers days of finding a bargain have gone…..look at Koscielny.
In 12 months time,I believe we will also be holding Podolski up as an example, and we haven’t seen anything of what Ox can do yet.
We’ve got plenty to looks forward to,fellow Gooners….plenty.

  42. rico says:

Podolski could turn out to be a steal Scott, but he could also fail to cut it in the PL – let’s watch how it goes first..

On paper Veron, Alex and Forlan were great signings for their club, but none found it easy…

No, I am not being negative, just being sensible – but I hope he settles quickly and we see the player who ‘on paper’ looks good…

  43. Scott from Oz says:

    Rico,that’s what I said.
He’s got to prove himself, but I’m very confident he will.
    Bring on the start.
Off to bed guys, catch you all later.

  44. boomergooner1727 says:

    morning all,

really hoping that we bump hl up i think he could be something alongside mikel with the grit he brings to the table. i’ve watched a decent amount of him but have yet to see much creativity and that might be what’s holding him back.

as for the am/dm situation i’m convinced the boss is counting that mysterious figure they call diaby in at least one of those slots (hopefully not both). my guess is that without major holes to fill we’ll be waiting until after the tour and olympics to grab anyone else despite the magnitude of this week but then again who knows.

and barca can really f*ck off with this kos business, he’s another french legend in the making and i’ll be damned if he crosses to either darkside of spain of machester.

  45. South Yorkshire Gunner says:

On paper Veron, Alex and Forlan were great signings Rico.
None found it easy that so much is true, but all had success.
All these players were South American too and all technically gifted.
Tevez has not found it easy, nor has Suarez. But both, it cannot be denied are exceptional players.
The way the PL is played is different.
It is what makes it so good.
Foreign players that come in need to possess not just great techniques and skill, but also need to have the RIGHT MENTALITY to adapt to our game.
    Mentality is the key word.
It is no good having the mega-athleticism over 75 minutes which bring with it the 30 step overs, the one dozen blind alley sorties and a cool back heel for those watching back home. You also need a 95 minute constitution with the right mentality to compliment that skill and technique. It is a RIGHT MENTALITY gave the likes of Gary Neville a fantastic career, and his skill was very limited to say the least.

Podolski will be a success. It is just a case of how big a success.
Podolski is not just a western European, he is a 100 cap German international, and their football is not to dis-similiar to that of our own. I’m keeping fingers crossed that Giroud will be of that elk.

It is that type of player that will fit into our set up and hit the ground running.

  46. W.A.T.H says:

SYG, we’ve seen it time and time again, it’s not just about players with great skills or technique they need that as well as a fully committed attitude to succeed in the PL…..! Classy players have been and gone, some with huge reputations who failed dismally…! I think Podolski will succeed but to what level is the question.

  47. South Yorkshire Gunner says:

The thing about Wenger is his “sum of the parts” ethos.
That’s one of the main reasons average players collect more appearances than is their actual worth. I’ll not go into the Songs, the Eboue’s, the Diaby’s, the Denilson’s etc otherwise I’ll get accused of being a xenophobe as I’ve slagged off a player a Highbury House blogger identifies him or herself with…

Stick a good solid player with the right attitude from a top footballing nation into that “sum of the parts” ethos and you are on to a winner..
Put a class player or a couple of class players with similar attitudes into that ethos and you are flying…

  48. W.A.T.H says:

Not all those “class” players cost a fortune either SYG and we’re not that far off at all…. just the next step and for me 2 good buys and we’d be there with or without vP and/or Theo…!

  49. Charlie George aka AK says:

    Afternoon AKB’s
    Afternoon Wath/SYG.
Afternoon Rico, that was a very interesting and controversial post.
Just what we needed on a wet Monday…

  50. Charlie George aka AK says:

Does Eastmond have a future at AFC…?
Hmm, not sure, but with the club having to balance it’s 25 man squad, more Brits will have to come into the equation, and that, after all, was the idea behind it’s implimentation.
So Bartley, Lansbury & Eastmond could have a career at Arsenal after all….

  51. Charlie George aka AK says:

As far as Niang is concerned, if he picks Shittie, then good riddence I say. We’d be better off without him and concentrating on developing players who have Arsenal DNA, rather than some Anelka clone who has $$$ DNA…

  52. Charlie George aka AK says:

S2S, gotta say that I don’t see any future for Bendtner at Arsenal.
If RVP goes, then I suspect that our Morroccan with the greasy haircut could be retained as back-up.
But Nick, with the large cranium, will i’m sure be loaned out again.
Park may well be retained as well.
    For what reason?
    I haven’t a clue, it’s just a hunch…

  53. W.A.T.H says:

SYG, I been saying that for years though and they still don’t seem to see it…?

    Keep at it AK 😉

  54. W.A.T.H says:

I’d be giving away chmuk and park AK just get them off our books… Along with several others I may add, free’s up plenty wages and rids us of the overpaid deadwood, it has to be a start surely..! I’d rather a few of the “kids” were on the bench rather than those wage sluts…!

  55. Charlie George aka AK says:

Here’s a thought, what about taking Andy Carroll on loan?

And with that bombshell, he was gone.
    Lata Gooners… 😀

  56. South Yorkshire Gunner says:

    Mismanagement? Denilson.

Arsenal don’t want him that much is true.
Sao Paulo want him but won’t pay?
They have Jadson, a player we were supposedly looking at the other year.

    http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/transfers/arsenal-snap-up-12m-jadson-as-new-cesc-fabregas-2336087.html

There are other Brazilian clubs that would do a deal with him as part of it, surely.
There are certainly plenty of Brazilian players who could fit into our style/pattern of play.

  57. W.A.T.H says:

SYG, I think the Denilson saga highlights a lot of whats wrong with the management at our club, they busy patting themselves on the back for a great job well done as they so fond of telling us yet they squander millions and millions on over paying players who have yet to prove themselves and players who are decidedly average proven yet again by not being able to sell such dross as other teams refuse to meet their current wages.

  58. South Yorkshire Gunner says:

They talk about running the club as a business – that is what is so galling.

Last pre-season we managed to sell Eboue.
If we can lumber the likes of him on another club, then there’s hope for us to shift all the deadwood.

Bendtner is the world’s most glorious forward according to himself, with a host of Europe’s finest allegedly tracking him. Yet we shift the man with the enigmatic smile, the RADA award and the slippery boots and can only loan No52 out to Sunderland.

Fabregas only brought a fee of £35M because he wanted Barcelona?

He’d have been flogged to Madrid or Anzhi for double that or seeing out his contract..

This isn’t business. If it is it is bad business!

  59. W.A.T.H says:

Totally agree mate, bad business deals where they have put themselves in a corner due to over paying for one and then not negotiating on other deals when they should. Lets not even mention the commercial deals.

  60. Charlie George aka AK says:

    Don’t fancy Carroll then Wath…
    Ok, how about Berbatov…?

Yeah, the gossip pages are full of some real honey’s…
Can’t wait for the Bleacher Report to pick up on it…

I reckon that Adam will end up writing for them, he is such a fan…

  61. Charlie George aka AK says:

Edin Dzeko, now that is another classic…
Yeah, of course Arsenal will pay him £170k pw.

Then again, he might be prepared to take a pay cut?!!!
Of course, he’ll happily slash his wages by £80k a week to play for Arsene…

Well the papers say it, so it must be true!

  62. W.A.T.H says:

I reckon Adam is busy as we speak AK writing up an “Ode to a legend.. The one and only SquillMaster” bleacher will wet his pants..!

Yep see the Berba story, piss funny…! They can have vP I’ll have Welbeck…!

  63. vernat1066 says:

Dempsey and Moses i think as we don’t need more players getting used to the league, country language etc.. If we buy from abroad then we could be playing 40% of our outfield players with no experience of the league and given that we do not get the preferential treatment from referees that Utd etc get i think that would doom us to yet another transitional season.

  64. Adam says:

Actually, old Adam has just finished an “interest piece” that he is going to send to young Rico upon her return to the action. Are you in town tomorrow Kev? I am.

  65. Charlie George aka AK says:

Watching me, watching you Adam. 😀
Not seen you hanging about outside the Wolesley lately.
It’s suddenly gone quiet on the streets.
    Are people leaving Town?

  66. Charlie George aka AK says:

Adam, i’m working the rest of the month.
You have my number if you need a cab.
Actually there’s a demo in Trafalgar/Parliament Squares tomorrow.
Us disaffected cabbies demonstrating about the Zil Lanes.

  67. Charlie George aka AK says:

I look forward to your post Adam.
Would it be about a certain French centre-back, Arsenal obtained from Seville per chance?

  68. Adam says:

I am going down by tube Kev to visit John Lewis in Oxford Street and the new Nespresso shop in Regent Street. No. I find the whole Squillaci debate too upsetting and wonder why I am the only one who sees the quality of his game. I haven’t been to the Wolseley lately Kev. These days I eat at Food For Thought at Neal Street (?) near Covent Garden or Cha Cha Moon in a street off Carnaby Street. Both pedestrian only. I might bell you about midday if you have time for a cuppa. I know you blokes park where you want.

  69. rico says:

This made me laugh – Breaking News, Breaking News on Sky Sports…..

Robin van Persie returns to training…

    🙄

  70. South Yorkshire Gunner says:

    You’re right Nashers.
In over 200 appearances Alex Song has made 2 minutes 52 seconds of telling contributions to the team. Fckng whopee. And about 30 seconds of that was slow-mo restart and replay it again Sam shite

I could make much better individual YouTube clips of Bendtner, Denilson and Vela and make them look absolute world beaters.

    That’s if I was a sad twat.

    No pun intended.

  71. Adam says:

Was it that idiot Jim White screaming “Sensational News From Arsenal!!!”, what a berk that bloke is.

  72. Charlie George aka AK says:

Adam, tomorrow is cool buddy, although I have to visit my garage in the morning, so depending on how long I have to be there, noon sounds good.
Hey Rico, Wath wants us to take Andy Carroll on loan… 😆

  73. rico says:

Bloomin heck SYG, Song isn’t the best, but he’s not bee the worst either has he?

He’s no Gilberto, Yaya or Essien either but 2 mins 52 seconds, he’s worth more than that…..

  74. Charlie George aka AK says:

Ah, the understated Jim White, that great example of calm and considered reporting. Berk. (shire) 😉

  75. Micko says:

    Afternoon all,
Eastmond always looked a bit lightweight to me, must have had something about him to break into the team like he did but don’t think he’s got what it takes to make it with us, probably do well at a club like Reading.
Heard that the tea lady refused to put any sugar in RvP’s cuppa this morning, it’s looking ominous.

  76. Adam says:

Ok Kev. As long as I am not rushing from doorway to doorway sheltering from the rain I shall be patrolling the area around mid-day wearing that dress that I know you found so attractive when you saw me in that march the other day.

  77. South Yorkshire Gunner says:

The highlight of Alex Song’s Arsenal career was summed up in over two minutes on that YouTube clip.

Pity there wasn’t one showing the fouls and free kicks he gave away which led to goals against or the marauding up front and leaving the defence wide open or the stupid red cards. You might get about 40 minutes out of that one, especially if you did the slow mo and replay’s …

  78. vernat1066 says:

Interesting to see if Eastmond has improved (players are allowed to you know 🙂 ) I quite liked him when I saw him and when he played the club was not in the best state, give him the pre season or as much as possible and see if he has improved. Remember Ashley was one day from going to crystal palace when he got his break maybe Eastmond can grab his chance this time round, I don’t think he can but give him a chance and see if not still think that he could play premier league for a club and play well maybe at a fulham perhaps

  79. rico says:

    I don’t know Jim Smith Adam 🙁

Micko – that sounds bad, could play a big part in his final decision…..

  80. NashuaGunners says:

@SYG, you’re entitle to your opinion of Song. His contributions in the squad, in my opinion, is worth more than 2 mins 52 seconds. There is no need to for you to go over the cliff with such comment as ‘fckng whopee.’ No pun intended.

  81. rico says:

Just about to Adam, had to make some bread just now…

natty – i think you are spot on, maybe another PL club would sign him though, or Championship… He’s not a dreadful player, just not quite good enough to be a Gooner…

  82. Micko says:

No rico, you either love him or hate him, if by a minor miracle we did sign M’Vila i’d be happy for song to stay and battle it out with him, more likely we’ll see much more of coquelin next season.

  83. rico says:

Many believe that M’Vila is a done deal Micko, just a few minor things to sort out which couldn’t be whilst he was on holiday after the Euros…

I’d rather Capoue, but hey, I won’t be moaning if we get M’Vila, yes, I too would keep Song and if he chooses not to renew his contract soon, then I doubt it will be such a big issue.

  84. NashuaGunners says:

@ Micko “…love him or hate him,..” I chose to love Micko. He is the best we have right now but until then. PL is a tough ground and seeing Song battle it out in every game you have to give the guy credit. There are times when he even drove me nut when simple pass turn to something else. Between John Obei Mikel and Alex Song, I’ll will choose Song any day of the week.

  85. NashuaGunners says:

Rico can we afford Yaya? We can gladly take what we have and look for exactly what we want. How much Song cost us and much Yaya cost Mancity? We all have our dream players to come to Arsenal but would they, with the type of money we spend in buying players? When I look at the bench coquelin is not far off as a finish good but just not there yet, imho.

  86. NashuaGunners says:

Rico in the days of Essien and Gilberto, Song would worm the bench for them, but remember Song is only 24 there is room to improve. I always try to appreciate what I have and that would not stop me to look for what I want. I would love for M’Villa to come so that will sharping up Song.

  87. NashuaGunners says:

Yes I still remembered when his brother was putting in word for him. For some reasons AW do believe in Song but I have a feeling we’ll get M’Villa.

  88. Charlie George aka AK says:

    There are strong rumours (yes, I know 🙄 ) that the following four will not be flying out to Asia, but staying behind to conclude their transfers out of AFC;
    Arshavin,
    Bendtner,
    Vela,
    Squillaci, (sorry Adam, 🙁 )

Not confident about us getting M’Vila i’m afraid…
    Hope i’m wrong.

  89. goonster says:

oscar? who is he? the brazillian? he ll flop. we are not getting weaker are we? we haven’t sold anyone yet have we? the chavs are in transition. i dont see them finishing above us atleast not this season. they ll miss the strenght of drogba, he’s been the difference between the chavs and most teams. am not worried.

  90. rico says:

goonster – take a peep at the chav squad – imho, its stronger than citeh’s right now and yes, i think we are weaker, even if rvp and theo stay….

  91. goonster says:

sorry i dont think we are weaker……the PL is a different place entirely. i dont see hazard, oscar and whateer excelling over here. they all struggle besides those guys are all light weights. calm down rico*winks* hi lee…..

  92. Scott from Oz says:

RICO,Hulk will turn out a flop…he has the turning circle of the QE11…Hazard needs to show he can handle tough tackling PL defenders, and so does Oscar.
They’ve spent up,yes, but you keep reminding us Podolski has to prove himself in the League.
Well,he’s a more proven, more seasoned performer than anyone Chelski have signed,so I think you’re either being harsh on Arsenal or overly positive to Chelski.
    Morning all.

  93. rico says:

Fine goonster – we will agree to differ… 😉

Scott – you don’t know that about Hulk, Hazard or any of them, just as we don’t know about our two, BUT, reality is, they have added to an already strong squad, have we??

Me, positive towards the chavs, no Scott, just a realist and I won’t bury my head in the arsenal sandpit….

  94. goonster says:

relax rico…..we might still get mvilla. with jack, arteta, song, diaby(yes diaby), ramsey,TR7 and the young uns like lecoqpong we have a strong mid field. our attack ll be better than last season. we are looking to bring in a new keeper. believe me this is the first time in years we are going into a season stronger than the previous. calm down, we ll be alright.*winks*

  95. goonster says:

remember the “beast” baptista? how wel did he fare with us? brazillians dont cut it in the PL just ask robinho.

  96. rico says:

i’m fine goonster, just saying how it is right now, or how i see it….

Jack, Rosicky & Arteta – maybe even Coq – nice, the rest you list hardly fill me with confidence

  97. goonster says:

gilberto was a bit defensive wasnt he? oscar is an AM isnt he? am not overly worried about our rivals and that includes shitty. our first 11 is a handful for any team. shitty had no attempts on goal at the emirates. we tore the spuddies to bits, ripped milan apart and tore the chavs a new one and we did all that without a full strenght team! come on.

  98. goonster says:

night maam, relaxok. we ll alright……now give papa some sugar before you go to sleep*winks*

  99. Scott from Oz says:

RICO,my point is you have constantly said Podolski is yet to prove himself, and you are 100% correct, yet then say how well Chelski have bought….you just can’t have it both ways.
Having seen Hulk play,I will be the first to admit to being wrong if he succeeds, because I just don’t see it.
He’s big and strong, but seems very slow and not very agile.
Just as if Podolski fails, the same applies.
I’m not saying I’m right, merely offering an opinion on the players, and that’s what we are here for.
Hazard will succeed,I believe,Oscar is just brilliant but with the South Americans it’s impossible to say how they’ll go.
    Time will tell.
Goonster,I thought Hulk was a done deal, but could well be wrong.
Question for AK…..since when is Heathrow a 4 hour drive to London?
Reports from Olympic athletes suggest you cabbies are taking them on the scenic tour.
    Shifty bastards 🙂

  100. Scott from Oz says:

    Goonster,I LOVE a positive man.
Not sure how anyone can say we are weaker than last season.
even if RVP goes,we’ve signed two strikers, and hopefully will bring in another…whos to say RVP won’t be injured anyway.
Who have we lost…..nobody we wanted to keep.
Plenty of time to get a few new boys in,but as it stands, here is no possible way we are weaker.

  101. Charlie George aka AK says:

Not me Scott, I never rank up at Heathrow.
I’ll take people there, but I won’t hang about.
Not ranked up there for over 6 years.
Wastes too much time. I can be back in Chiswick in 15 mins.

Stan, you are gonna get your arse smacked if you carry on being saucey to the Lady… 🙂
Wath is on his way as I type. You better run…

  102. Scott from Oz says:

Just saw a list of completed transfers, and we lead he race as far as quality is concerned.
Citeh have bought nobody as yet.

  103. rico says:

Scott – and my point is, Chelsea were stronger before we signed our two, all we have done is bought two players to keep up with what they had at the end of the season.

Now, they have signed players who, like Pod and Giroud, come with a very good reputation and on paper, which is what I have all along, they appear a lot stronger than us…

And that is before we lose anyone, all I am trying to get across is if we don’t sign anyone else, we are going to get left behind…

    Morning all..
