Inevitable. Arteta targets high goal tally.

Morning all.

Tomorrow’s battle against Aston Villa is huge. Losing is unthinkable. To do so would undo all the hard work done at Old Trafford. By the way, I’m enjoying the pressure OGS is under now because the more it builds, the worse his team are likely to play. I fancy Everton to whip their hides this lunchtime.

The media will already have their pencils sharpened in anticipation of Bern Leno cocking up and Emi Martinez being the hero. I can imagine the headlines..

I’d imagine both keepers will feel the pressure tomorrow evening. Leno will want to prove why he’s Arsenal’s number one, Martinez will want to prove why he should have been Arsenal’s number one. Of late, Villa have shipped a few goals. One or two Martinez could have done better with but what can any keeper do about free kicks which have been placed perfectly? Very little I’d say. Could Leno have done better midweek? I think so but so could the players ahead of him.

If ever there’s a game for Arsenal to find their shooting boots, it’s this one. Yes, I wanted Emi to stay, I still wish he was our first choice keeper today but tomorrow, I hope we stick five past him.

To become a top top team you have to score 90 or 100 goals to be competing with the top guns and it’s a challenge for us and an area that we have to improve and do better. – Mikel Arteta.

Jack Grealish. A player the bookies had us as favourites to sign back in the summer but he committed to Villa by signing a new contract. Smart move by the club as it ensures they’ll get a good transfer fee for him next summer. Certainly better than in the summer just gone if this darn virus has been squashed by then.

I think Arsenal are in a similar situation with Aubameyang because if he wants a few glory years elsewhere before he retires, the club will get a transfer fee and a decent one too. If he stays and scores goals, it’s a win win situation. He might be going through a barren spell right now but I’m sure that’ll soon end.

Martin Atkinson is the referee tomorrow evening and I hope he’s done his homework on Grealish. Not to preempt any decision he has to make but to be aware that just sometimes, footballers will try their luck, especially in the penalty area. There’s another word for that but it escapes me right now.

Another reason we really must make home advantage count is because last time out we did everything but score and that simply has to change and of course, it’s the international break and there’s nothing worse than two weeks of mulling over where things went wrong.

Yes, it would be great. Obviously before the international break if you are able to win, the mood in the camp and everybody is much better. You will reflect as well on your position in the table because there are other important games coming up. We know the game we are facing against [Villa], we have lost the last two times against them so it will be difficult, they are a team that has grown so much in recent months and they made some clever business in the market and they are stronger than last year.

The game against them at the end of the season still irks me. We should have won and we done so, Villa would be playing in the Championship.

I’m off to cheer on the Toffees…

    Sorry about that Potter…

Not a good day for results. Reading got thumped again, and Utd won. Still, the latter will probably be rubbish next game.

Ever the optimist Rico. United to lose, next game! Shame about today though. Everton should have done better. Are they missing Walcott, I wonder?

Tomorrow, won’t be watching, sad to say. I’m not prepared to pay for rip off soccer!

But, the txt will be on, even during “His dark Materials”.

And, I think we should win but I don’t think it will be a comfortable drubbing! Revenge is best served cold, and we should play with revenge in our hearts!

    2-1 to the good guys.
