Inconsistency costs Arsenal dear yet again.

Morning all.

A moment of stupidity from Leno. Instead of hoofing the ball away from danger, he decided to play the short ball to Xhaka who not only had a Burnley player on his heels but being a left-footed player, had a limited out ball. Yes, he could have played a first time right-footed out to his left but he didn’t. In typical Arsenal fashion, one touch was needed before making his pass which really wasn’t good.

Then we had the two VAR incidents. One had the correct outcome in my opinion but the other was a shocker. Arsenal should have been awarded a penalty but there’s no guarantee we’d have scored from it.

I thought we started quite well. We were moving the ball around well and looked positive. Thomas Partey started the move which led to our only goal of the game. He and Xhaka exchanged passes in midfield before the latter played the ball to Willian. A forward run, a ball to Aubameyang, who after a couple of step overs, beat Nick Pope at his near post. Another chance fell to Aubameyang, he missed it, Saka too shot wide when he really should have scored and Partey fired one over the bar.

Then came ‘that’ moment and the scores were level. Burnley, who’d been pretty poor until then, perked up a bit. Arsenal seemed to go to sleep. We should have been awarded a penalty, that was obvious but if I was Mikel Arteta, I’d have been rollicking Pepe for stopping playing, instead of carrying on and trying to create another opportunity to score.

Pepe then missed an absolute sitter. All he needed to do was make a good contact and it would’ve gone in I’m sure but he totally fluffed his lines. Shocking really. The same player had another chance, this one was more difficult. He struck the ball well but annoyingly, straight into the shoulder of Pieters and onto the bar.  As the game closed out, Leno kept the score level with a fine save before Dani Ceballos hit the woodwork.

Within the first five or ten minutes, I thought Arsenal were on their game. Burnley were struggling with everything they tried. Every time they got anywhere near our penalty area, a misplaced pass or good defending stopped them in their tracks. But as the chances went begging, I’d imagine anyone watching knew that Burnley were far from being out of the game. Burnley certainly knew that although I doubt they’d have imagined being gifted an equaliser in the fashion it came.

It’s a really tough place to come on a difficult pitch, but I have to say we should have scored the big chances we had. When you miss the chances we had, and you do not get decisions, it is complicated to win football games. If that is not a penalty, then someone needs to explain what one is.

From what we produced, you have to come here and win. When you do not, you have to look at yourself. We completely dominated the first half but they make it difficult with a lot of long ball. We generated chances and we should have won by two or three goals. If you give any hope to any team in the Premier League, they are going to take it.

It’s inevitable that Xhaka will be the villain on the internet but one has to ask two questions. Why do Arsenal, among other clubs, believe the only way out from the back has to be through half a dozen tippy tappy passes? I get the rationale behind it but is Leno too stupid to have noticed the danger when he passed to Xhaka? Is Arteta so rigid with his training methods that playing out from the back is ‘the’ only way to play? One or two hoofs up the pitch during a game isn’t always negative, it’s common sense. A defender wouldn’t think twice before hoofing a ball clear, so why doesn’t our keeper? Or Xhaka himself for that matter. Look at what’s around him and hoof it out for a corner if that’s what it takes to remove the immediate danger.

It is what it is. It’s the way we play. It’s the way I want to play and we just have to know the risk and the rules we have in certain areas and the type of balls that we have to play. ‘We are talking about [errors] all the time and trying to nullify everything we give to the opponent. If someone makes a mistake because they want to play, I will always support them. If someone is hiding I will not have that.

VAR and the mistake aside, we should have sent Burnley packing with a big scoreline. We created the chances, we’re just limp at the very moment it matters most. Yes, we scored four against Leeds and three against Leicester but we’re too inconsistent. Aubameyang, Pepe, Lacazette and Willian are too inconsistent.

Arsenal right now are too inconsistent and some of that is on Mikel Arteta. Just as it was for Arsene Wenger, Unai Emery and even Freddie Ljunberg before him.

See you in the comments.

Lord, grant me the strength to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

IMO we cannot change the deficiencies/corruption of the PGMOL and VAR.

However we can change our chance taking, system and line up.

I like our current system. It’s balanced and can be tailored to opponent easily. It suits most of our players. It took a while to get there but I don’t want to change it. So without changing the system what can we change……The players!

We have several players in our squad that stand out to me as those that need to change.

Xhaka – slows our game by taking to many touches, always seems to want the ball facing goal rather than on the half turn, brainfarts and loses possession in dangerous areas far to often.

Luiz – slows our game by taking to many touches, brainfarts and loses possession in dangerous areas far to often.

Willian – seems obsessed with passing backwards. Also seems to choose passing to a teammate in trouble rather than keeping the ball himself.

There are of course others that could be improved on. However these 3 would improve both our attack and our defence

  2. rico says:

For what it’s worth, I think Mikel Arteta is trying to get us to play like City but sadly, he doesn’t have the kind of players able to play that way.

City will pass the ball around all day, sometimes sides and backwards too but when they get chances, they take them.

If our players had taken just two of the double figured tally we created, we’d have won, let alone the rest.

  3. Devilgunner says:

    Good morning everyone

Good summary of the game Rico. And as you pointed out if we had taken just two of the chances we would not be talking about anything else except a win. It’s been the story in the majority of the games this season

  4. rico says:

    Thanks Devil.

Arsenal really are a frustrating team to support, to watch too. Imo, we need change up front. We need a player who thrives on scoring goals, addicted to scoring goals almost. Oh to have a 25 year old Ian Wright up front in this team.

  5. allezkev says:

Morning Rico, today’s post came up without me clicking on the link you left, weird or what?

Seems to be a lot of this kind of thing going on on blogs, Arseblog News froze for four days on the same post, seems that there’s a lot of this kind of thing going around, Russian bots?

  6. andrewh1313 says:

Good report rico on another bad day at the office. Hate to say it, but if we had Vardy instead of Auba up front, I reckon we would be top 6 this season.

  7. Aussie Geoff says:

Hi Rico and all Ian Wright and co taking the Piss out of Laca yet they do not act the same way when it comes to other players from other certain clubs who keep falling over shadows in the penalty area.

  8. rico says:

Morning Kev, that’s good. I think it’s down to google and their speed rules.

Thanks Andrew, hard to disagree re Vardy. I do wonder how Balogun would do in this team but then I thought the same about Eddie.

  9. ScottfromOz says:

Geoff, I won’t defend any divers.
Why these “experts” give scumbags like Grealish a soft time is beyond me, but then, he’s English so apparently that makes it ok.
    Diving is diving.
    Cheating is cheating.
It’s not “part of the game” at all.

  10. Devilgunner says:

The thing is that upfront we have Auba, a player whose goals per game scoring ratio so far is better than that of IW08 and TH14. He reached 50 AFC goals in less games than anyone else. The problem lies in other players in other areas of the team not chipping in with goals themselves

  11. ScottfromOz says:

    Devil, bring back Rambo.
A goal scoring midfielder that most here didn’t rate 😉
Though even better would be a 25 y.o. version of Santi!!!

  12. Devilgunner says:

What we need right now is not Ian Wright or TH14. We need Ramsey, we need a Fabregas, we need a Pores we need a Freddie. Those are players who know where the back of the net is

  13. rico says:

Stats don’t always tell the truth though Devil. The bigger picture is not how many he scores, it’s how many golden opportunities he misses. They don’t say how ineffective he can be during a game either.

I do agree though, not enough other players are chipping in. Plus, Arteta does seem to encourage scoring the ‘perfect’ goal which I find frustrating.

  14. ScottfromOz says:

    Devil,
We really do need some spark from midfield.
Partey can bang them from range, but after his Covid issue, he’s still a while away from his best imo.
Did you see the post match interview with Arteta?
As soon as he mentioned the “non” penalty, he was muted.
    Brilliant stuff 🙂

  15. potter says:

Not allowed to criticise PGMOL in the media Scott they must have a deal somewhere either with the tv companies who absolutely love the controversy that VAR brings or else a betting ring somewhere . Whichever way you look at it it’s not straight.
Social media could change things as long as tribalism is forgotten , already this morning twitter is full of Burnley fans taking the juice because they know they got away with one and are happy as were MOTD to use Dyche’s deflection tactic to keep the non penalty off the headlines.
When supporters start highlighting mistakes not involving their own clubs and the chorus can be seen not to be biased there is hope that the spotlight will fall on Riley’s clique and something might get done about it .
    However don’t hold your breath.

  16. ScottfromOz says:

Potter, and to think that VAR was sold to fans as a way of ensuring the right call was made every time, or the vast majority.
    Not even close lol

  17. rico says:

Sad I know but I’m watching Dundee v Celtic. Edouard Seems a bit slow to me and he’s missed a few chances. Mind you, the pitch is causing the ball to bobble. 😜

  18. allezkev says:

Yes Scott, BT had two versions of his post match interview, one had him muted once the other a few minutes longer had him muted twice, talk about controlling the narrative, it’s like they have Dr Goebbals working the mute switch.

Rico, I’ve read a few remarks about Edouard losing his zip, didn’t he have Covid?

  19. allezkev says:

Taking the piss out of Lacazette isn’t going to earn Ian Wright any brownie points with the fan base I suspect, maybe defending our striker is an idea Mr Right Wright, a forward who is regularly kicked and receives no protection, hence the exaggeration, which is needed to remind the referee of the job he’s out there to do – think about it Ian..?

And as for Lineker, well we all know what he’s all about, a man of substance (I jest) who deserted his wife and family, a man with an enormous ego and an enormous bank balance due to his BBC masters who he routinely kneels to at the altar of wokery to satisfy.

Yes, I’d love to see Gary driving a minicab one day…

  20. allezkev says:

You know Des Lynam used to do a great job presenting MotD, back in the day and I bet he did it for a good salary but not the bloated, inflated treasure chest handed to Mr Cheese n Onion?
You know is it really necessary for the BBC to pay an ex footballer a kings ransom to present a show of football highlights on Saturday evening. I mean, does anyone really tune in because Lineker presents it or do they tune in to just watch the football?

  21. allezkev says:

And I wonder how much they pay Shearer and his cronies in appearance money, hotel bills, taxi fares from their home – because don’t imagine that any of them get on the train and I mean before Covid…

  22. allezkev says:

The Premier League/BT Sport redacting the interviews of managers, it’s all very 1984 isn’t it Rico?

  23. Sue says:

Hi Rico… your 12.46 about Edouard missing a few chances – he’d fit in perfectly with us then 😂
How frustrating was yesterday? I couldn’t believe it.. shot ourselves in the foot yet again!! I’d rather have gone into Thursday on the back of a decent win. Although we drew, it felt like a loss to me.
Today marks a whole year since I was last at the Emirates!! Even after awful results/performances like yesterday, I do still miss going!

  24. AaronD says:

Great read! My issue continues to be with Arteta and not the players per se. I REALLY REALLY want Arteta to succeed but:
    1. Insisting that we play out of the back is not a good decision. The players are not capable of reliably getting the ball safely forward so we give up possession too often deep in our territory. Plus, when the opposition knows you are going to play out of the back, they press hard. Arteta needs to adapt to the reality of the players he has and to opposition tactics. As noted above in comments, we don’t have Man City players.
    2. He continues to select players that lack speed and who pass sideways and back rather than compensate for lack of pace with quick one touch passing.
    3. Players are not in the right position. Laca as a 10? Chambers as RB? ESR moved to wing?
    4. Substitutions are questionable. Willian may be able to give a good game here and there, but his effort fades. He should be first one removed imo. I’m not an Ode fan yet (generally, I’d prefer we grow our own players rather than take a loan), but why remove him when we were creating chances.
    5. We lack width on right. We need a RB who will go deep and cross. We’ve been playing a lot of Pepe and Bellerin on right. Both want to go inside.
    6. We lack presence in the box. I’m simply stunned by how often no one is at near or far post. Our attack can’t be based solely on peeps standing at the 18 and hoping for cut backs or an open shot.
    Frustrated.

  25. Aussie Geoff says:

Scott I don’t like divers or cheats all I am saying is Ian wright and his mates are quick to take the piss out of Laca but yet say nothing about other players who all ways dive in the goal square like Kane and vardy

  26. rico says:

They must have expected his comments Kev, how else could they have been so quick to sensor his comments?

Hi Sue, wouldn’t he just. Arteta must be as frustrated as us. I bet he’d have buried that Pepe chance even his old age. 😆

  27. rico says:

Good comment Aaron. I’m really against ESR being moved to accommodate Ødegaard and whilst I think the latter is pretty good, if Real Madrid reckon he’s worth £50m (eg) then I think the club should swerve him. That kind of money would get us someone like Partey who as good as he is, can’t play in every match during a season.

I’m not overly fussed about the backwards/sideways passing, IF we do something positive at the end of it.

The team selection yesterday was probably with Thursday in mind.

  28. Devilgunner says:

Sideways or backward passing is important to the team. It allows the team to take a breather during game whilst retaining possession. It allows the players to move around seeking space whilst in possession. It allows players to unmark themselves and pull the opposition out of position. It allows players to regroup while we have possession and move into danger areas.

The point is….there is a fine line between passing sideways and backwards while HAVING intelligent players moving in certain areas. Do we have them??? Not yet.

  29. Devilgunner says:

Arteta has a choice to make. Does he play to the players’ strengths with the team he has and refrain from playing the way he wants? OR does he play his style of tactical game regardless whether or not they are up to it?

The answer is a difficult one. If he plays to the players’ strength to acquire the results needed his style of play will never be implemented till pre-season. And games in preseason are not that much of a yardstick to EPL games. They are not such a good indicator other than seeing the effects of preseason on the players’ fitness. That will mean that once the results do not go our way the players would want to revert to the tried and trusted tactics which very often brought certain results. At the moment we are playing 4-2-3-1.

Should he force the players to play his style of tactics, the classic 4-3-3 dutch system which Emery tried to implement but ultimately failed? With the players he has right now that is virtually impossible. He would need a radical overhaul. We must remember that Emery came after AW who always played the same system, that of 4-2-3-1. And with all players being used to that system it was virtually impossible to make them adapt.

We have said it many times here….we are papering over the cracks. Even when we were winning FA cups. And the players know this.

  30. ScottfromOz says:

Kev, an avid Celtic supporting mate told me last week that since the guy had Covid, he’s not nearly the same player he was beforehand.
Who knows how long these guys will take to be back to 100%?
Geoff, yep, these pundits are forever kissing the arse of Kane, Son,Salah, Grealish etc etc
Some of the biggest cheats in the game right now.

  31. rico says:

4.44 Devil, as was often said here during previous years under different management, to get the best results, a manager should play to the players strengths. Ultimately, that’s what gets results.

  32. Devilgunner says:

    Arsenal were founded in 1886.
In the same year, Henry Edward King was born.
He scored the first hat-trick at Highbury, on 14th November 1914.
In 2006, the last hat-trick at Highbury was scored by Thierry “King” Henry, wearing the shirt number 14!

  33. potter says:

The more I see of Arteta’s game plans and decisions the further the jury goes out for me..I so want him to succeed but the playing out from the back and making comments that this is the way we play . Sure it’s a system but it’s just one system . There are plenty of other ways to play and you don’t tell the opposition what you are going to do .
Leno should not feel obliged to do it if he thinks it’s the wrong time . Xhaka should not be coming in square face on , demanding the ball when he is being close marked .
Anyone who has played the game knows that you don’t muck about in your own area, this tactic when a team is pressing against you is utter madness.
If you don’t have players that can use both feet under pressure . DON’T DO IT!
Which brings me to the players that he uses , his pecking order if you like . He has his favourites and although many players tend to pick themselves,it’s the substitutions that bother me .
We all know that the club is developing it’s squad , we know players are going to leave and if you can believe the likes of Ornstien we have plans to bring in a few too but what of the ones on the fringe that are already here.? How does he, or we for that matter, know if he doesn’t give them pitch time.
Looking at them in training is all well and good but as Saka and ESR have proved given time have become indispensible . Where is Martinelli and why has it taken so long for Chambers to get a sniff , he showed a steadiness at right back , performed well as cdm at Fulham , can he be any better than Xhaka as he is more mobile and not given to concentration lapses.
I said yesterday that we are on the route to next season , we are not going down and probably will finish like last season around 8th. It’s shit or bust in Europe , lets use what league matches we have and find out what the fringe can do and make plans accordingly.

  34. rico says:

Potter, once again, I think you and I are on the same page.

If Martinelli can make the bench, he’s fit to come on from it but we’re just not seeing him. Talking of subs, he seems to have the same ‘sub clock’ as Arsene Wenger. Yet sometimes, I do wonder why he’s not making earlier changes and more positive ones.

But yes, I want him to succeed but if things are the same come December, I think the club will be left with little choice.

  35. Sue says:

But will the club see it that way, Rico?

I’ve just seen the spuds/Palace score… next Sunday is going to be interesting…..

  36. potter says:

The Welsh golfer has hit form just in time , funny how it always happens , no doubt Liverpool will meet Billy Graham and come back from the dead to play us too.
Still once those two have gone we have 6 below us and 3 above to play .
Time to see our alternatives . Keep the first teamers fresh for Olympiakos and beyond. ( I sound like Buzz Lightyear )

  37. Sue says:

There’ll be uproar, for sure, Rico!! There is a whole lot of unrest already in the Arsenal blogosphere.. and if the week ahead doesn’t go to plan, it’ll be unbearable!

Massive, massive week ahead – the players had better turn up! Can’t bear the thought of the spuds doing the double over us!!

  38. potter says:

I just read that Kroenke stands to lose over £200 millionin three years due to the deals and hire purchase agreements we have on players that we have signed. If he gets rid of Arteta at the same rate as Cicero posted yesterday that’s another £ 10 million
Unless he is going to throw another bone into the mix we have to sell to buy again so the departure of Bellerin , Guendouzi and a few others is on the cards.

  39. rico says:

    Absolutely agree Sue.

I think we’re in for summer with more sales than signings. I doubt many who are out on loan will be at the club next season.

  40. ScottfromOz says:

Arteta will be there in 5 years time, imo.
I can’t believe the ebbs and flows fans have regarding the manager.
I doubt he’s coaching them differently each week, because the performances are up and down like a yo yo, granted, but surely there are various factors at play here, and reading comments around the net this past day or so, you’d think we were awful v Burnley.
A week ago, everyone raves about Arteta, now his jobs in danger?
That’s a pretty quick turn around lol
We were brilliant in the first half, dominant, apart from one obvious moment of stupidity, for some reason went into our shell for most of the second, but no matter how we look at things, we should’ve won easily.
We created plenty of chances-surely, the tactics were correct when that’s the case.
Poor finishing somehow equates to poor tactics in the eyes of many fans but I don’t agree with that.
As for playing out from the back, well I’ve never been a fan but if we are to go down that path, then I’d rather these guys are learning here and now in a season we’ve already written off, see how players handle it under pressure, remove those that flounder, top up the squad in the summer with guys capable of playing that way and hopefully, we will be much better next season.
I’ve always believed a manager should try and get the best out of the playing squad he has, but if we are to look long term, maybe this is the right way to go.
    Time will tell.

  41. allezkev says:

One big signing Rico and a few Bosmans in the pipeline or part ex deals.
Either that or Stan sells up?

  42. Aussie Geoff says:

I’m still not convinced by Arteta coaching but considering everything that has happened this year I believe we need to give him 1 more season but but he needs to be told next season 6 or better no excuse.

  43. Aussie Geoff says:

Leno should watch Fulham versus Liverpool and take notes when under pressure or not sure kick it out long like the Fulham keeper did

  44. ScottfromOz says:

Heidi, we will finish top 4 next season or else even I’ll turn on Mikel 🙂
That’s enough time for him to mould the squad to what he wants.

  45. Devilgunner says:

    Good morning Rico and all.

Laporta has won the Barca presidency. And Bellerin is one of his top targets. Since the latter has a contract till 2023 he will not come cheap. So that means around 25-30 million Euros if I am correct.

Would I like him to go??? As a person and how he represents Arsenal I really like him. I just wish all players were like him. He is a good role model for everyone and a great ambassador for the club. However, as a player I feel he somewhat lacks something as a defender and after his cruciate his best asset, speed, has declined.

So yes I would let him go. The thing is….who would replace him. At the moment we have Soares and also Chambers who was solid last Saturday as a defender but offered less going forward. We need a defender who can defend first and foremost and also act as an inverted fullback when we are attacking. Maybe that is why Bellerin cannot adapt since he is an attacking full back. Meanwhile that is why Soares and Chambers seem better because they can focus on defending and also amassing the midfield when we attack. Remember, under AW, Chambers was encouraged to run up and down the flank and was never an inverted fullback. And this tired him more. So now maybe using him as an inverted FB will see him become better and benefit the team. And also the reason for Pepe performing better with Soares because unlike Bellerin, Soares does not run into his channels.

Maybe it is best for everyone, Bellerin and Arsenal, that he goes to Barca.

  46. ScottfromOz says:

    Morning Devil.
Hector really hasn’t improved much at all this isn’t few seasons so yes, could be time to cash in.

  47. Devilgunner says:

According to various articles on the net…….

    Bellerin….to be sold
    Lacazette…to be sold.
    Torreira….to be sold.
    Guendouzi….to be sold
    Nketiah…..to be sold.
    Nelson…..to be sold.
    Kaolasinac…..to be sold

That is 7 players. Anyone can try to figure out how much that lot will fetch in??

The jury is still out on the following…they may or may not be sold….

    Willock…. maybe sold
    AMN….may be sold
    Elneny….may be sold.
Saliba…..still scatching my head and dont have any inclination what is going to be done

So a lot depends on how many of the above are sold and who replaces them. With the exception of Willian (who is still more miss than a hit atm) and Runnarsson (Almunia’s shadow) the other signings of Arteta have proved to be solid…..Soares, Mari and Gabriel.

  48. Devilgunner says:

I was going between 125-150 for the listed 7 Scott. Because Bellerin, Lacazette, Guendouzi and Torreira will fetch 25 plus each I feel. Especially Bellerin.

  49. Devilgunner says:

This season VAR has cost us 10 points. Yes….we only have ourselves to blame because of the amounts of chances we failed to score but 10points is not something to be scoffed at.

  50. ScottfromOz says:

Devil, but VAR is there to stop those obvious errors hahaha
I toned the valuations down a little due to the current situation with this virus, but who knows what impact that’ll have in the summer?
You could well be right, but either way, it buys 2-3 very nice players.

  51. Devilgunner says:

The coming summer is going to be interesting with regards the revolving door at the Emirates. I hope we get an English RB (Lamptey?), an English midfielder and a good striker. We also need a LB since I don’t like the idea of Soares there.

  52. potter says:

Barcelona are broke ,not that it has stopped them in the past , We can no longer attack La Masia because of Brexit rules so it will have to be a player exchange and Laporta is as slippery as an eel. buyer beware.
However that is not to say that moving Bellerin on is a bad thing . More recently PSG have been linked to him and the sheik has got collateral .
Torriera , Guendouzi , Elnenyi and Kolasinac have for various reasons been loaned out at some stage and their market value has waned because of that and we are selling into a market with very limited buyers
.Only artificially funded clubs have ready cash or the ability to pay real money Nketiah and Nelson have a value due to being English but none of our top 6 rivals will want them and their value will reflect that , selling for enough to buy will be difficult in this market as we are not looking for makeweights but tailor made solutions and they will be at premium prices.
We are likely to lose 6 players and gain 2 the shortfall having to come from Hale End which brings us back to the question of whether Arteta will play them or just have their names on paper to fill the team sheet.

  53. Devilgunner says:

The Balogun situation is leaving me frustrated because 1) he is good. 2) he is English. And we are not trying him.

It’s irking me as well the fact that he will be leaving for free.

  54. rico says:

The Balogun and Martinelli situation baffles me. I honestly don’t understand why neither are getting minutes, even if it’s from the bench. It’s decisions like these which cast doubt over Arteta.

Similar with AMN. One minute he’s a key part of winning the FA Cup, the next he’s dumped.

  55. Devilgunner says:

    Morning Rico.

Sick bay for me today. Got vaccinated with the Oxford Astra Zeneca yesterday….and it seems that someone has been pulling my hair….head feels heavy, dizzy and tender. plus the body feels like I have played two games in two days…especially lower back and leg muscles.

Dr told me I have around 48 hours like this.

  56. Devilgunner says:

Rico….I really want AMN, Willock, Nelson, Balogun and Martinelli to succeed. First of all, with the exception of the latter they others are English, they ae homegrown, they have all come through the academy and will not have cost anything to the club. Secondly there is nothing more awesome than the feeling of seeing one of your own making the grade…let alone 4. Coupled with ESR and Saka that would make it 6 players.

Martinelli I think the problem is more in the mind than anything else. He seems afraid to go in because he does not want to get injured again. Because I dont think that Arteta is that much a fool to omit Martinelli simply because he does not fancy him. so he is just waiting like he did with Chambers…then when he feels he is ready he will throw him in from the start of a game.

Strange I suppose it’s horses for courses , I had the Astra jab 4 weeks ago and it never really had an affect . Still take it easy and I am sure things will calm down by Thursday when your blood pressure can go back up through the roof.

  58. ScottfromOz says:

Martinelli is months away from being where he was before his injury.
    Balogun is playing games.

Ivan Toney’s transfer value has been said to be 30 million. For a striker unproven at the top level that is waaaaayyy toooo much. Not more than 10 million in my opinion.

Oh no Devil, I have mine in ten days time.

I too want the English boys to succeed but I think we have to accept that a few of them will have a career at another club.

  61. Devilgunner says:

Scott…..I guess we will see Martinelli to his best again next season. This season is a write off for him.

  62. Devilgunner says:

Rico do you think that AMN would have fared worse than Xhaka and Elneny if he was played next to Partey??

  63. ScottfromOz says:

Yes Devil, that sounds about right.
12 Months after a player gets back on the pitch following a major injury, minimum.
That’s been proven time and again.
Of all the younger guys not getting a run, AMN is the one I don’t understand.
It can only be an off field issue, imo.

Interesting looking at some of those Swiss Ramble figures, I mean Roma have lost £179m so how on Earth are they going to be in any fit state to sign anyone?

    £30m for Ivan Toney eh?

    Dream on…

Ah, the link just popped up on my iPad Rico, an hour after you posted them, it’s getting weirder and weirder…
