‘I’m Arsenal, they’re my team.’ Right attitude ahead of new season.

Morning guys.

Still hitting the F5 on NN are you, or spinning that little update arrow round every five minutes on your latest hand held gadget? Don’t bother as most of it is made up, exaggerated or just recycled stuff. Don’t get me wrong, I’m big on recycling and certainly do all I can to help improve the planet but there’s only so many times a Carrasco or £40m budget headline can be spun surely?

In any case, I’m the kind of Arsenal fan who wants to see more of who we have coming through, just as much as I’d like to see a top notch player or four in key positions. Mainly defensive ones but I know we’ll differ with our views there. That isn’t me lowering my Arsenal expectations, or accepting mediocrity because of what’s been going on with Arsenal I just think what’s the point in spending vast amounts of money on young foreign players when we have many of our own. If German clubs really are sniffing around our younger players, doesn’t that say something?

Would Joe Willock not have benefited from the kind of game time Matteo Guendouzi was afforded? I’m hoping the Europa League Cup Final cameo was just the beginning of a long and successful Arsenal first team career for our English midfielder. I can see some of you raising your eyebrows or rolling your eyes from here and that’s fine. This is just my opinion.

Reiss Nelson is another player who I hope breaks into the first team this coming season. On paper he has everything this current team lacks. Pace, width and goals. Having been on loan in Germany, he’s added experience to his CV. The Mirror have printed details of a recent interview with the player.

I have got a bit bigger. I was playing at Arsenal when I was 17, when Arsene Wenger gave me my Premier League debut against Southampton, so I was very immature when I was playing. Now I have a more mature role about me. I look to play link-up play, one v ones — and I think I am more mature.

I am Arsenal through and through. I support Arsenal. All my family support Arsenal. There’s an interaction I have with the fans. It’s a good thing. They support a lot of the young talent coming up through Arsenal. It’s good.

In Germany, there were also times when I wasn’t starting and I didn’t have a lot of people to talk to, just my family. Germany made me grow up as a person and on the pitch it showed. Whenever I got any minutes, I would have to take any opportunity that comes my way. I learned a lot of stuff. I made a lot of friends, and also I made a good connections with the managers. They taught me a lot of stuff that I can take on in my career.

It was difficult, leaving. But Arsenal are my team and I want to go back to Arsenal and play.

Nelson scored seven goals whilst at Hoffenheim. He was their third highest scorer yet as he says, there were times he was a spectator. An average of a goal every 90 minutes of playing time isn’t bad is it? If you’re a fan of stats, only Joe Willock and Eddie Nketiah bettered his goal per minute ratio for Arsenal.

In my opinion, both Willock and Nelson should be part of Emery’s first team plans this coming season. As should Emiliano Martinez. Reading FC would have been relegated without his heroics. Just ask any Reading fan about him and they’ll tell you how good he was. Yes NN if you’re reading, my family and friends are Reading fans and ST holders, they told me.

Other than the above three, who do you guys think might break into the first team? Chambers, Bielik, Saka, Medley, Amaechi, or someone else?

Or perhaps none of them….

Catch up in the comments guys.

I’ve got my reservations about Willock, perhaps he needs to go on loan and really test himself. Bielik on the other hand, should be getting a first team call up due to his consistency. Amaechi should also be getting a first team call up. That should eliminate the threat Bayern pose in trying to take poach him. Chambers is definitely premier league material now. I think he should stay with us.

  2. Potter says:

You get the impression that these boys want to play and that’s something you can’t buy. Hopefully we will get to see them and fit them in as they develop. If Auba is thinking of going to China we to know before we send Eddie out on loan.

  3. ScottfromOz says:

    Morning all.
Potter, more importantly, they seem to want to play for us.
Give them a go, I say.

  4. kelsey says:

Didn’t know there was a new post.yes introduce maybe 2 kiids but they need mentors.Fabregas was a good example when first drafted into the team.
Sorry Rico I only wanted to inform you and your members of some relevant facts.

  5. Tinzi says:

BIELIK is ready, Mavrapanos needs cup games, Reiss should never have left, as with ESR, Osei is a decent understudy RB and shouldn’t be leaving. We are in desperate need of pace and width and someone with a bit of noise, some vision and a little height or a f bite in midfield.

Thr defence is self destructive, but worst of all its the owners intension do as to facilitate sales. The imposter talks too much double Dutch anf his results beat equalled Arsene at his worst with a depleted squad amid heavy investment by 5 other top clubs and significantly more investment by other mid table teams.

We were desastrous when. I watched and it was summed up best when I switched to watch Dkys fixture manipulated United Kick off mosdwau through our first half.

Stephan was poorly utalised, Hector run ragged until he snapped, he tinkered with the CF’s opting to play one or the other in 50% of games and both In the remainder. Statistically we were winning with 2 up top and most certainly not losing with Mesut in behind.

Montreal at LB facing any pace is simple, and playing Kolasinac against accomplished forward thinkers, suicidal, he managed to rotate like a wind turbine flagging in a bluster.

That was the worst season in 23 years and Sven walking out says everything that offering £15m for a £25m plus LB who is 22 and British when everyone knows you can’t defend, doesn’t.

Aside from needing to look for internal solutions at LB, Callum returning adds depth to defence and the holding role, whilst Rob looks set for an early return in time for the season proper.

No matter who in the anti Arsenal Arsenal Taven of Football London thinks otherwise, we need to cut our loses and send Mustarfi to Germany it Italy with a profit percentage clause and let Koscielny go to pasture as he stated he would before retiring.

That leaves us with Dinos, Callum, Rob, Sokratis and a sore need for at least one other and Bielik in need of promotion to the first, he and Dinos should be partnering week in week out in the reserves and the Greeks can take the Cups.

A little more physicality and some extra pace could partner a very accomplished looking Rob Holding prior to what appeared an intentionally caused injury.

I blame the fans and thr owner and stand ashamed to be called a Gooner if they are.

Sum total, the player of the season from 17/18 left for free and continued to be our most infliencial midfielder even when looking destracted and a shade less than his usual committed best.

Indeed what she said, Arsenal are a silly, silly club.

And Tierney isn’t ready. I’d rather sell Xhaka and Mustarfi for a combine £40m and double down and grab Chilwell and Diallo from Fort mind who went for £16m to replace Sokrstis, with Hummels joining in addition to their emerging CB linked away, potentially with us.

When you want your team to lose a final and miss CL football, a} you know you are a fan and B) you know its gotten bad.

    Afternoon Gooners
    Afternoon Rico, good post…

Nelson, Smith Rowe, Willock, Saka, all of them can have an impact off of the bench in the EPL although I’m not sure I’d start any of them ‘early doors’ but definitely bring them on in games, Emery wasted a lot of substitution opportunities last season, I’m hoping that having Freddie in his ear will help.

If all of our centre backs are fit in August then Bielik doesn’t get a look in, nor does Chambers, but in the cups for sure, either in midfield or defence.

As soon as Bellerin is fit AMN will be an option again in midfield and that’s where we really need to see him performing.

Iwobi needs a go in center midfield, he’s not a wide attacker or winger.

I still think that we’ve got a week to wait for deals to start going through, probably to coincide with the unveiling of the new kit – yawn…..

No point loaning out too many players until we have our transfer business done, Nketiah could stay if for example a deal for a new forward breaks down? Otherwise a year on loan is just what he needs, playing regular football, increasing his value if nothing else, and that could well be behind the loan of Osei Tutu to Bochum.

Medley, Ballard, play them in the cups, Amaechi needs his contract sorted out then sent out on loan if he doesn’t leave.

Yes Rico for sure, Martinez as our No.2

I’ve not long had a look on News Now, usual shed load of rubbish, lies, half lies and fabrication on there, it’s so pathetic and boring.

  7. rico says:

    Afternoon Kev, thanks.

I too think a lot of time was wasted on persisting with players who really aren’t producing the goods on a weekly basis. I guess had we not been so close to getting top four or had not found ourselves in the Europa Final Emery might have given a few more a chance. As it turned out, he as well have done in any case because I doubt they’d have done any worse.

I hoping bring Willock on for Ozil in that Final was him sending out a message…

  8. bripriuk says:

    Hi Rico
I watched Reiss playing for the U21s, he has definitely grown up – totally different build to the last time e played for us. He’s also a much harder player, although he didn’t seem to do a lot of tracking back. I think he and Willock should definitely be used regularly, with Nkitia in a back-up role and Maitland-Niles starting as a defensive midfielder. My biggest hope is that Unai will do for Iwobe what Guadiola did for Sterling and add a final ball and goals – the rest of his game towards the end of last season was excellent and showed promise. Chambers has had a good season, but I think he could be best used as an exchange player for a fullback – there are lots of good ones in the premier league.
There will be a lot of changes, let’s hope they’re for the better. I have faith in Unai, I think he did a good job in rotating last season.
The pipe-dream is that Benitez will take Ozil with him to China, but I can’t see it happening 🙁

    Brian

  9. kelsey says:

No one wnts mustafi he is the biggest liability in the team. Xhaka we were reporte selling and next day he was muted as being captain next year.
I also don’t understnd Tinzi’s post. We had lost 4 of our last 5 PL games prior to the EC Final literally throwing away a CL spot but our performance in the final epecially in the second half was horrendous. Players not up for it or Emery didn’t motivate them enough. You decide but no true supporter wished we would lose.
We need to concentrate on defence then midfield to get the foundations right on a pauper’s budget for now,
The club will sell anyone be it at a loss or profit so we can re invest. Those resonsible should all be ashamed of themselves
.No business that is successful would be run this way.One has to speculate to accumulate and kroenke won’t use his own money. he is quickly ruining everything our great club stood for.

  10. rico says:

Hi Brian. I suspect that idiot under 21 manager wishes he’d used Nelson more. Might have scored a few more goals if he had…

Kelsey, as I understand it, Kroenke couldn’t invest his own money into the squad even if he wanted to could he? I’m going to have to read the rules again I think… lol

  11. VCC says:

My late entry from the previous post…………. Thanks Kelsey for the updates of what is happening within the walls of the Emirates.
I know you are well connected and only enlighten us to help keep our feet well grounded.
It beggars belief how Spurs can offer £65mil for one player whilst having just moved into their new wonderful stadium and we have been fed scraps from our board whilst pleading poverty because of our move.
Unfortunately I have aired my view as to what to do with Mr Kronke. The only thing he is concerned about is money. And how much he can wrangle out of our club. That’s where the unfortunate thing comes in. Supporters have to make a stand if they wish our club to remain in the top six , let alone the top division. We must boycott games that’s the only language Kronke understands. I’ve stopped attending and stopped buying any merchandise for a few years now. It hurts like hell but when a dictator and greedy selfish guy such as Kronke is concerned you have to make a stand or just plod along accepting what scraps he allows us to have.

  12. Le Coq Monster says:

    Thanks Rico.

I see my favourite rumour monger is back !………………………..Father of Ornstein …………….Kelsey !………….welcome back ! 🙂

  13. sohara says:

I agree with all the encouraging posts about our Youngsters, especially Reiss & Bielik who is 21 now and grown much bigger, he helped Charlton get promotion last year and was Player of the month for them once.. Chambers also did very well at Fulham and he was Player of the YEAR for them, which for a loan player is very high praise indeed. I think Beilik may have the edge on Chambers , but Chambers is English, was OK for us even starting games before he went out on loan, so has had a LOT of PL experience.

Reiss was great in the U21’s how Boothroyd didn’t play him earlier especially when we needed a goal in our last but one game . He wasn’t very good at tracking back though and even made a few defensive errors. but I hope to see him get onto the pitch more next year for us

Re not going to the games. I would LOVE Kronke to leave and sell to some Arsenal loving fan..BUT I truly don’t think that is going to happen, and I am certainly NOT going to give up my season ticket and not go the the games to see the team that I love , in the feint hope that will make him sell. nor are any of the other ST holders that sit near me ( including my son)
    Sorry

  14. rico says:

    Morning all.

I wonder if it wasn’t for the fact Emery would need to be paid off if he was sacked, the club would have fired him after the way we ended the season…

  15. Adam says:

Morning Rico. It’s only another year left on his contract and that would be only a bit more than the superb Dennis Suarez cost the club.

  16. Adam says:

Rico. As Arsenal supporters we are all accountants these days. We’ve been conditioned that way for years. 😃
What were we promised by Ivan? Pain today – jam tomorrow?
    What an absolute joke!

  17. potter says:

    http://youaremyarsenal.com/arsenal-stan-kroenke-analysis-stats/

I can’t agree with the article written around the January window’s conclusions but it does try to explain the position we are in regarding purchasing players and the lack of Kroenke funding .
It seems that the only way that he could put funding in would be to persuade his wife to get a sponsorship from Asda as they are part of Wal-Mart.
Now as Wal-‘Mart originally owned the Inglewood land that the rams new stadium is built on , it is not unreasonable to suggest that the other board members might consider that they had helped Stan enough.

  18. Le Coq Monster says:

Nothing new to me on that article Potter……………………….I said years ago that Kroenke could get his wife to sponsor the club and have always suggested another way was to buy a player(s) for his Colorado Rapids team and loan them to Arsenal as the MLS is not under any UEFA management, but I suppose this idea is too simple. I always thoiught CFG(Mansours) would do the same with all the clubs they own so to get around FFP rules !……….theu currently do it in reverse as Man C loan players out to their Spanish club !
FFP does not cover Grounds / Academies etc`, any team can spend as much as they like on them, so in theory Satan Kroenke could redevelop The Ems and make it a bigger stadium than Spuds one………..obviously subject to planning !…………..but unlike CFG who have a bottomless pit of money Satan borrows money like he did for buying out Usmanov`s shares, so we are truly up the proverbial creek unless he listens to our simple solutions.
The increase of wages per year is not a peoblem if we have just saved (currently, without anyone else leaving) upto £500kpw. !
This man didn`t even turn up for the Europa League Final, what does that tell you about his interest !…………………….did he miss The Rams Super Bowl ?
The club makes a profit is all that he is concerned with, it ticks over nicely and his shares have more than doubled without lifting a finger.

Too many rumours linking Auba away from us.If he goes to United there will be a riot.Andy Goldstein is refering to David Ornstein in the article.Maybe with two years left on his contract the club want to cash in now to avoid the Ramsey situation, but it’s just a guess.
