Morning all.
This might seem an odd question to ask but I think it’s important.
- 1. ST holders, will you renew for vast amounts of money?
2. Away supporters, will you travel the country wide to support the team?
3. Those is the posh seats/boxes, are Arsenal still worth your money?
4. Some of us who scrabble to get a ticket at all costs, will we/you again?
5. Fans all over the world, will you still get up in the middle of the night just to watch the club you love play?
6. Finally, the internet world, will those of you still be writing the same old stuff for another year or two knowing full well there’s a lot of disinterest in this Arsenal under Arsene Wenger?
Back to the serious stuff. I’m sure there’s still a number of Arsenal fans who really want the Frenchman to stay, believing he’s the right man to take us forward and after a scrappy summer which will no doubt see a few players leave and some join, that opinion will strengthen. The ‘there’s only one Arsene Wenger’ song will be belted out loud and proud.
There are no doubt many fans who are still in two minds about Wenger staying. Perhaps believing that if Stan Kroenke/the board gave him loads of money to spend, he’d get it right and we’d be great again. After all, it’s Kroenke’s fault we are in this mess as he never invests his own money.
Finally, there are those of us who believe that Wenger’s time is up and it has been for a long time. No amount of money spent will improve us, not all the time he can’t motivate, can’t be imaginative, can’t be reactive, let alone proactive and can’t open his mouth to speak without some kind of excuse after yet another shoddy performance spewing out. He doesn’t manage the squad at all well. He plays out of form/average players consistently whilst leaving those who we believe to give more on the bench, or out of the squad entirely. Would you have started with Mesut Ozil in a NLD on this seasons performances? No, me neither but neither would Giroud have been in the team either. But hey, I’m no football manager so what do I know!
From having so much respect for a man who brought us a couple of double seasons, many an FA Cup trophy and best of all, an unbeaten season, I’ve grown to dislike the man and that’s putting it mildly. He loves the club he tells us, he’s turned down many a top job in order to remain loyal, he wants to stay and take The Arsenal to another level. Yet what he cannot see is the only level he’s taking us is down. It’s like the club are stuck in a lift which is sat on the top floor and the only way is down.
Gone are the days when he can spot an upcoming player and snap up his signature before one of the other big clubs. Gone are the days when he spotted when a player needed to be moved on too, as why on earth would he have stuck with the likes of Almunia for so long and still be paying Yaya Sanogo a wage? And there’s others in the squad too who should have been long gone having season after season watched them offer little or nothing to this side, yet other players like Lansbury, Hayden, Aneke, Campbell, Gnabry etc etc, are barely given a chance before being cast aside. Hayden is one which still irks me today and now that Newcastle have been promoted, I bet he shows what he’s made of next season. An Arsenal man through and through, a strong guy too who would no doubt have given a lot more effort against Tottenham than some of our lot did! I may be proved wrong, we’ll see. But I think you get my gist.
Arsene Wenger inherited strong characters on the pitch like Bould, Keown, Adams, Wrighty etc, he then signed leaders and strong players such as Paddy, Gilberto, Petit etc. Players who will lead by example and turn a game on it’s head on his own such as Henry, Freddie, Bobby etc.
Where are those strong character signings these days, our leaders, players who won’t just say yes, players who will roll up their sleeves and put their body on the line for the good of the team? Players who want the ball before anyone else, especially the opposition? Players who play with pace, flair, width, precision and the willingness to put a defensive shift in? Do we have them but Arsene Wenger has toned them down, or do we have too many players who simply take their money and do little to earn it?
Tony Pulis said it years ago, as did Big Sam, we don’t like it when there’s a physical battle to be won and they were right. They still are and until someone else replaces Arsene Wenger and brings with him a totally different approach, we never will.
Anyway, as for another season under Arsene Wenger. I hope it doesn’t happen.
20 year + membership already cancelled. # KroenkeGazidisWengerOut
Welcome Peter. I don’t think you’ll be alone.
I wonder how many names are on the supposedly long waiting list for ST’s.
It’s a No from me re the ST’s. Crush the hope out of fans at your peril. I really can’t see the point of stumping up another 3 grand a year for Mrs Adam and myself so I can drive home in morbid silence and walk around with the hump while watching Wenger’s ashen-grey face spouting yet another load of bollocks.
I thought as much Adam. Such a sorry and sad state of affairs, but could so easily be remedied. Well, it could so easily give us hope that something better loomed.
And let’s be honest, could it get much worse?
Rico. If Wenger signs then I have little doubt it will get worse. I sometimes wonder if he recognises that he is a big part of the problem as he probably thinks he is the solution.
If Wenger stay’s I will support Spurs, that is something from 60 + Gooner supporter
I don’t think he sees it’s him holding us back Adam. He’s got his head in the sand…
That’s a bit extreme Pg.. lol
look at the big picture instead of being so insular. Chelsea: backed by a billionaire hellbent on football domination. Tottenham: ready to implode after cherry picked players move on/ play and lose at Wembley/ struggle with new stadium costs. Liverpool: resurgent with good manager impact. man city: oil rich sheiks with money no object budget. man utd: richest club in the world. get real. we are in a slump, with zero confidence, but don’t throw the baby out with the bath water, with unrealistic, hysterical over emotional reactions. it makes me sick how we have had champions league football for 20 years which everyone thinks is not enough, then all of a sudden, champions league football is not available, its a disaster! what do you reasonably want and expect from a league like we have now? we don’t have a divine right or even backing from our own board to maintain successes we have had. Arsene Wenger is stubborn, but hes not stupid. hes also very proud and very determined, he will sort it. don’t let mob hysteria, fuelled by sky sports darling Jose mourinhos jealousy of A.W’s respect for his dignified achievements, cloud your judgement. we aren’t happy, its true, but take it on the chin, like a man, don’t panic
As I said in the post eh… There’s still a few fans out there who think life is rosy…
Bill, fair comment, but do you still think that Wenger is the future, that Wenger can rebuild the squad, that Wenger can build a team/squad that can compete for the entire season for the EPL, can compete in europe?
If you can, then please tell me what you’ve seen over the last two years that proves that…
Serious question…
To be fair Bill, my views have nothing to do with getting into the top four or not. It’s the rubbish we get to watch week in week out for a long time now…
Rico, we could well find ourselves overtaken by Everton by the time we play Sunderland on May 16th
Kev, good, I hope we are because if we don’t get into Europa via the FA Cup, which if we don’t as runners up if Chelsea win the league, I’d rather be out of Europe altogether…
1995-96 was the last time Arsenal were out of europe.
Bill obviously has nothing to base his opinions on Rico…
I guess not Kev. Similar to many, one comment then gone. I can’t see what on earth there is that Wenger could do to improve us next season. If he hasn’t by now, he never will.
I would have liked to have got Bill into conversation on the subject of football rather than finance and the hardships he obviously feels that we suffer.Unfortunately he has gone but probably he was from Untold who never discuss football and the way it is played.
On the subject of yesterday’s post I found this today.
http://www.football.london/arsenal-fc/news/stan-kroenke-under-fire-colarado-12972900.
Seems that his popularity is not so good there either albeit I doubt that he cares.
Good Morning to The Lady of the House and all fellow Gooners in residence.
Questions #1-4 Unfortunately none apply to me.\
#5 I’m already having second thoughts. I have about as much interest in dragging myself out of bed for a 4:45 a.m. kickoff as team has in plying the game.
#6 I don’t know. I’m lost for words to explain our team’s malaise.
I couldn’t and wouldn’t goes as far as Mr. Gaylor.
That is so extreme it is ludicrous. I hope that was said in jest.
As Kev said Potter, Bill clearly can’t back up his views otherwise he’d gladly stay and debate why he thinks Wenger should stay, other than just ‘he’ll sort it out’ – well he won’t, because he can’t.
Morning Cg. long time no see, hope all’s well. I think the malaise is done to AW losing the players…
I’m going to listen to Eon radio Rico. At least I can have a bit of shut eye during the game! That’s the best alternative until ol’Rupert gets 10 live games back on Fox again.
I’m sure it was Cg.
Don’t know GG, watching us play sends me to sleep…
Rico – Outside of our team playing like they are perpetually constipated, I am fine,. I’ve been busy with the family.. Also, until today, I’ve been too angry, disappointed, disillusioned, etc. to post in the House. I was afraid I’d resort to strong industrial language and get myself banned from the House.
My eldest son’s wife commented to him a few weeks ago, that after him being on the phone for nearly an hour, neither one of us had mentioned football once. A very rare and unusual situation, but he is as disillusioned as I am.
As for Arsene – a couple of weeks back Ian Wright Wright Wright was one of the colour commentators and he said Arsene should be given another chance and alluded to the board or club executive, but didn’t spell it out. So, I’m at a bit of a loss. However, a lot, if not most, of our players seem to have given up. Their attitude seemed to change after they dropped more than nine points off the leaders.
As for Silent Stan – he wont care as long as the the club make a good return on his equity. He puts profits before all else.
I quite enjoyed Bill’s post of the party political broadcast of the Ostritch party.
Wish he would come back and explain how a team with an average of 62% possession averages 5.6 shots on target. In a game with say 6 minutes injury time that means that we have the ball for approx 1 hour so a shot every 10 – 12 minutes doesn’t bear out the entertaining football argument in my eyes.
What will I do? I shall waste my time pursuing a small white ball round a golf course, like I did pre ’97! The old ways are still the best, probably.
Somehow or other the ghosts of Chapman and Whittaker, even Bertie Mee have to be resurrected and given a brush down, clean up and reinstalment in the form of a new DYNAMIC and CHARISMATIC manager with a better than competent squadron of coaches and medics who are proper healers and dealers who can spot REAL talent!
That’s all I want really.
Cloudy here and cool, again.
I totally understand Cg.
As said before, I think AW has lost the belief of the players and they are simply not performing for him, a bit like Chelsea last season. Perhaps they are no different to us, fed up with the same old rubbish..
Good post today, if your wob like me, we as fans have to put a stop to this two year contract, if you dont feel like that you are deluded as wenger, im sick of watching ten years of shit, we have to get as many fans as possible to protest on sunday, throw beach balls on to the pitch or something. Things need to change at this club. We are so far behind the scum it is unbelievable.
http://le-grove.co.uk/2017/05/02/arsenal-fans-can-still-impact-wenger-leaving-heres-how/
Good post on Lg today.
I’ve read that Rico and posted a comment . Chances are I will not be there possibly ever again so I would be happy to sell or even discount my ticket to someone that will protest. If the stadium is full of dissent there is more chance of change . However I think it could get very nasty with the AKB’s who are scared of life without him.
It has become increasingly evident he has lost the players ,most of the fans and now were seeing some disgruntlement at boardroom level, it has become so toxic, that in the clear light of day, another season like this under A.W will just damage the club and Himself even further,
Personally, I don,t think anything can surpass the feelings or Lack of feelings, I,ve felt this season, so if he stays I,m very much at ease with it now and have come to terms with it. It would be hard to diminish my lack of enthusiasm any further than it has already, as it,s already at an all time low,
Unfortunately it,s looking increasingly like I,ve got no option but to suck it up, distance myself somewhat from all things Arsenal and “Wenger” and wait patiently till the board finally wake up, aIthough I wouldn,t hold my breath on this weak, clueless, unambitious board to make that ultimate decision to call time on his career, as I think it may even be Wenger that will have to make that ultimate decision for them. “Spineless tossers”!!!
Potter, you won’t be renewing either? I can’t blame you. Would you like me to put something on tomorrows post about selling your ticket?
I too think it’ll get more and more nasty as the the season end closes in…
Dublin, unless we are one of those inside the ground, there’s little to nothing we can do…
Afternoon Rico and All
As the manager of the club,an intelligent man,
he knows whats going on.
And in case, like he says…”I don’t read the Newspapers”
He must of noticed.
The players downing tools
The empty seats
The aeroplane
The Banners
The fans fighting
The TV experts
The looks from Bouldy
The League Position
So whats the problem with him?
Why would anybody want that grief,
he must have enough £wonga by now.
Is it that he thinks its Arsene FC
Is it that he thinks we are all deluded.
He made light of the defeat sunday.
Saying “Once in 21 years ” ………With a rye smile.
Have to agree with the Season Tickets,
We are hard to watch now.
But even harder to watch is Arsene.
I gave up listening a long time ago.
Afternoon Fred.
That’s what I don’t understand with him either. All the stuff with the protests, the booing etc, who of sane mind would want to be subjected to that for another two years? And it won’t get better, it’ll get worse for him..
Maybe he doesn’t want that anymore….
If I lived in the UK, in London, I would have had a season ticket as I have supported Arsenal since 1958……. To register my utter disappointment with current events, I would not buy another season ticket until the Board notify Wenger that he can no longer continue as manager at the end of the 2016-2017 season.
He’s lost the plot, sadly. Whatever defined his ability over 20+ years has leeched away so don’t blame the players – blame the scouting system, Wenger had the last say on who was bought, AND, he chose who was to play in each match and what the tactics were to be.
Spurs were bound to overtake Arsenal eventually and what is particularly telling is that Spurs goal deficit is about half of Arsenals!!
I quote a blog I saw yesterday:
“What was clear today is that they (Spurs) play as a team whichever 11 players get on the pitch
Arsenal players would rather worry about their hair than track back to help a team mate”
Özil and Giroud (to name two culprits) have just not earned their not inconsiderable weekly pay packet but the former is rarely substituted and, the latter manages to stay on the park for the majority of the matches……6′ 3″ and he’s a featherweight…a pushover!
I live abroad and won’t watch another match on TV until Arsene Wenger leaves the club.
Come on Fred, don’t be so insular…. ?
And you Rico, don’t go around being so insular as well… ?
I’m sure that Adam would agree with me, that we’ve simply got to see the bigger picture… ⛑
Afternoon all and thanks Rico.
Nothing will change for me, it will be the same as usual next season……. I will get excited at the rumoured world class players we are going to buy…..all 200+ of them…..and get excited come the first game…..go to a cherry picked game of which we are guarenteed to win…….get disappointed at our usual collapse somewhere………bash my nob with a steak tenderising mallet when Arsene mentions mental strength !………get excited about the FA Cup……..and hopefully like the previous 3 seasons out of 4 an FA Cup Final, where I will either be joyous or deflated at the result !
Bloody audacity of Adam and Potter thinking they can sell their season tickets !………………get real, you will have to pay us to take them !………………..I`ll start the bidding of accepting your tickets for about £500 per game as I need to get to the Ems all the way from Cornwall, the car doesn`t run on fumes !…………………I will need 6 pies and quadraple mash…………………..salt beef bagels, drink, programme, food inside the ground, ermm….ermmm………….actually, you`re lucky I dont drink, so I reckon I`m in the driving seat !…….anyone else is going to want a lot more money to take them off your hands !…………did I mention a fit looking escort girl ?……no !…..price has doubled !……..still cheap though as you pair must be loaded to afford an ST at Arsenal !
😆
I can remember on here a Positive verses negative
argument….Where did that go.
andorrabyte – can’t argue with your comment.
Me Kev? Surely not… lol
Ask Wenger Fred…
I won’t Lc, too many false dawns…

Link doesn’t work Kelsey…
There is a very good chance that every season ticket holder who refuses to re-new will be replaced by an AKB season ticket holder. We are all allowed to justify at least one luxury item in our lives, if yours is an Arsenal season ticket, then re-new but don’t go to the games till ….. is gone. Seriously, down the track those who don’t re-new now will regret it later.
Easy to say but hard to do GG, if we were the ones spending the kind of money the ST holders do, would we renew? I wouldn’t, not unless I knew I could loan it out for the next couple of years, or however long Wenger stays for…
I wonder how many away fans will bother too.
Morning all.
Morning all.
Some sunbathing to do after I`ve taken the pup to the pooch parlour .
New manager yet ?
“In the last 24 away games against current top 6 rivals, his record is W 0 D 7 L 17 – 7 points from 72”
Give the bloke another 2yrs if that stat is true??
What a fucking joke we have become?!
That stat can’t be true can it?
So apparently Ivan is resigning…
Kel that means Wenger is staying then?
If true Lee then it looks like it… fuck me ?
I bet it is Lee.
Kel, isn’t that an old story? He resigned but it wasn’t accepted?
I’ve no idea Rico I just read it
That stat Lee if true it’s shameful…. last win away to top 6 in my memory is away to city 2yrs ago…
It’s a fucking shambles whatever way you want to dress it up!
But apparently Giroud is set to stay forever, or until his pace drops off, so what a boost that is. 🙂
could mourhino finish wenger off this wk end…
It’s all part of the old chap’s delusional reading of how well he has done in May! We live in strange times. Times where stsistics tell more lies than truth but the lies masquerade as truth! If you know what I mean?
Gazidis leaving? Does that one have any legs or is it another old story re surfacing? If true, the old one will be left with absolute power, and we all know what absolute power leads to, don’t we?
It’s all looking mighty bleak to me, from top to bottom.
Wenger is a bit like an old Diesel engine, polluted, past its sell by date and in need of replacement by a more efficient unit. In order to achieve this part of the scrappage scheme he needs to be given a little compensation and then led away to a suitable retirement home where he can live happily ever after, and where the final whistle never blows!
Morning all. A bit grey here again today. I don’t think we’ll see the sun again until the old stick insect is consigned to the management scrap heap!
In most thinking peoples eyes from a football perspective he was finished a long time ago. From the boardroom looking at the balance sheet through a case of Brandy bottles he is not and as the bottles empoty it is more obvious to them that he is notr only the answer but the Messiah too.
That was a few seasons ago Wavy that Le Stick Insect was scrap heap bound….
He’s only got half a squad Kel.
When he finally won the FA Cup after many years, I was quite happy with him staying. I honestly thought he’d push on in the transfer window and make us good again. However, it didn’t take long for me to realise I was wrong. Very wrong…
I wouldn’t read to much into what that prick says Rico.
On the other hand maybe Wenger could finally beat him then retire. ?
Really Kel, Utd have many injuries. But they did last season when they beat us… 😉
Nice thought…
Yeah I remember their youth team beating us.. ffs so disappointed that day as I was hoping to thump them and get a bit of revenge..
But as usual we turned up all casual and chilled…
Catch up later guys…. but tell me if Arsenal win the cup and finish 6th. And spurs finish 2nd who’s had the better season. ? ?
Sad news re Aaron Lennon.
Nothing on newsnow about Gazidis going and more importantly…..nothing on Ornstein !…………………….this was Ornsteins last Arsenal tweet !
https://twitter.com/bbcsport_david/status/832159858996699136
morning all. as you can see I am not an all day chatter, I stumbled across this site after I had browsed all the good sites. I would like to point out that It states ITS OK TO DISAGREE at the top of this blog. Arsene Wenger will stay arsenal manager, but he wont announce it because hysterical fans will protest and sabotage the precarious attempt to get 4th place. I don’t really enjoy or have time for fickle fans, who moan and bitch all the time. I do accept that things need to change on the football side, and so to, finally does stubborn A.W. it is worth noting here that Klopp, Guardiola and Conte have hit the premiership and all the pundits agreed that it will take time for them to introduce the new systems and bed them in, and all will get a seasons grace at least. Arsene has gone for three at the back and the whingers and panickers are bleating after three or four games! I am a realist, and it is a fact beyond dispute that arsenal finished 2nd last year. it is also a fact that arsenal have lost 1 FA cup tie in nearly 4 years. it strikes me, after reading yesterdays reaction to my views, that I am talking to a group of people that are about to give up their season tickets for arsenal anyway or going to become spuds supporters !!! Arsene Wenger is being used as a human shield by the americans. Ivan Gazidis is as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike. when we had David Dein, A.W got most of his transfer targets. how many have we lost under Gazidis, with his penny pinching ways and lack of skill. it wasn’t A.W who offered £40,001 pounds for Suarez. back to the billionaire clubs, they saw A.W’s methods of scouting/recruitment/success in his early years, copied it and threw much more money at it. the rise in the amount of billionaire clubs across Europe, means there are now 5 clubs chasing most decent players. you wont get the americans out easily at all. they are just business men squeezing a good profit out of arsenal fans. if you want fantasy and not reality, play as arsenal on fifa!. arsenal are a roller coaster ride at the moment and nothing polarised this more than the 3-3 draw at Bournemouth, where we saw the worst and the best of arsenal in 1 game. I remember different times of mixed emotions with arsenal when I have cried tears of joy and boredom with George grahams successful teams, excluding the 2-0 victory at Liverpool that made us champions of course. Arsene to stay, americans out. David Dean to return. sublime fast football again.C.O.Y.G Bill Davis
Bill, very sarcastic!!
Bill.
So you’re comparing three managers who are new to the PL to one who knows it inside out after 20 years?
Yes, he’s changed tactics by going three at the back but unlike other managers, it’s taken him flippin years to try something different and after it worked with Holding in there against City, what did he do for the NLD? Oh yes, drop him.
Yes, it’s ok to disagree on here, but all that was asked of you yesterday was to tell us your views on why Wenger should stay, and why/how, you think he can turn things around having not done so for so many years..
Oh, and top 4 is not a trophy by the way.
Hi Bill.
Nothing wrong in having a different opinion and disagreeing, the more the merrier imo !
🙂
Like your points apart from Arsene staying !………………….3 at the back may be new to Arsene and Arsenal……..it may even take time, but i think Arsene has had plenty of time to try and get something right in the Emirates years and time to move on as it is not working full stop !……….I mean, how long do you think we should give him with 3 at the back ?……………….Conte`s 3 at the back was instantly season changing !
As I said the other day, I think Arsene lovers are basically suffering from Stockholm Syndrome !
Look forward to more of your opinions, Bill. 🙂
Have to go…………the sun is calling !
New post up now
again, finished 2nd last year, 1 defeat in F A cup in 4 years, not playing 3 at the back, you can see why he was reluctant to change for a while. I think he thought he had cracked it, anyone care to deny these facts?
POTTER. while we are talking facts, ostriches don’t bury their heads in the sand, they lower their heads to survey the horizon, taking in the bigger picture if you will. something you may wish to consider. this was a party political broadcast on behalf of the fact not fantasy party
RICO so you are so knowlegable that you are not prepared to give an even playing field to the most successful manager in arsenals history? i.e a period of time to adapt to it. 3 at the back is not new, just a new trend and was discarded when teams worked out its weaknesses, as they will again.
