Hopes for change at Arsenal take a tumble…..

Morning all.

So it’s true, Arsenal fans really do need to be careful of what they wish for. The man I hoped would step in and make Stan Kroenke an offer for his shares which he couldn’t refuse, has shocked me to say the least.

Why? Because he’s right behind Arsene Wenger and has publicly stated that Arsenal need to all they can to keep the Frenchman in charge!

Arsenal fans have not only expressed their disappointment in Arsene Wenger of late but also turned their attention to Stan Kroenke for standing by the manager rather than looking elsewhere and of course there was his comments about not winning Championships.

But don’t bank on the big fella doing anything different if he was ever to become the majority shareholder, especially after his comments to Russian TV station Rossiya24:

‘Arsenal’s results are stable. They are always among the leaders of the English Premier League. This is a good and large sports business project, and I am pleased with it’.

‘The only thing is that today such situation occurred, like in any sport, there are ups and downs. The club must retain its major symbol and main asset – manager Arsene Wenger.

‘Failures have been haunting Arsenal for many years now, they cannot become the EPL champions. This has led to some discontent with Wenger’s position as a manager.

‘I believe that Arsene Wenger is a great coach, and Arsenal has to give him the opportunity to plan the succession process and leave his legacy when he deems it necessary.

‘It is very important for the football club to maintain the principles that were established by those people who created its victories. Arsenal needs Arsene Wenger.’

No Alisher, Arsenal need change. Twenty years at one club is long enough for any manager, too long actually and if things stay the same, I wouldn’t bet against Mesut Ozil thinking that feeding the Barca front three could be exciting and quite rewarding.

But who’d bet against Arsene Wenger rubbing his hands together at the thought of getting three Barca players in return for our German maestro as the rumours suggest.

I wouldn’t but what I would do is nab a few early summer signings which would make Mesut’s eyes light up with excitement, so much so that even playing for Barcelona doesn’t look such an exciting prospect…

Maybe that’s where Usmanov would differ to Kroenke as perhaps he’d give Wenger far more support, or should I say push during a transfer window….

Have a great day guys…..

    Morning Rico and all.
It’s hardly surprising to me that Usmanov should say this. It’s only words after all and they mean nothing as he doesn’t have the power to implement anything he says. It also keeps the board and any other Arsene supporters, in positions of influence, onside.
I imagine he must have some sort of strategy if he wants to obtain a controlling interest.

    Good Morning Charlies and Elizabeths.

I am with Adam with regards Usmanov. I did not expect him to say otherwise. It is the only way he can get board members onside.

    Morning Adam, Devil and all..

I thought his comments were odd really, after all, wasn’t he slamming the clubs lack of ambition not so long ago….

He’s towing the party line to bring them (the board & wengerites)on side.note he pointed out the continual failures.out of respect he’ s letting wenger either “walk”,fall on his sword,or change dramatically & spend, spend ,spend.you can take your pick which one it will end up?matter of opinion I guess…

Of course, maybe Usmanov is simply being honest, but surely not, as that would mean Wenger isn’t the absolute failure of recent years fans would have us believe.
Seriously, whatever suits people’s argument dictates what they believe to be fact.

Kroenke already has Fiszman’s shares , Usmanov has always said that he would keep Wenger so nothing new there. The difference is that he would pressure the manager to be more successful and the chances are he wouldn’t see 3rd or fourth as any more than 2nd and 3rd loser.

  7. potter says:

Munir , Sandro and Turan for Ozil. So says AS the Spanish paper. Munir is apparently a good tricky midfield forward rated by local supporters. Sandro a 5 foot 9 ” forward that is hardly prolific for their B team and Turan a tricky 5 foot 9 ” winger who has scored 46 career goals in 284 games. Do we really want their cast offs ?

Tony Kroos, Marco Reus and Alvaro Morata for me…
Plenty of goals, expensive but quality and that’s the reason Arsenal won’t sign any of them…

  9. Intolerant Kev says:

    Jamie Vardy equalises for England.

And a great finish, like the Ramsey goal at the Scummers…

    England actually look quite good…

  10. Intolerant Kev says:

That was very encouraging, 2-0 down but fight back to win 3-2, should have been 4-2, but Alli missed an open goal…

Now let’s hope they all stay fit for the summer…

  11. Wavy says:

Uncle Woy got them playing really fast pressing give and go football. The best England display I’ve seen for years. Will they play like this in the summer? You can bet your life they won’t! Still the memory of beating the world champions will endure for a while.

  12. Marshall says:

Hi all. The comeback against England was stunning! what’s worrying is how Rose, Dier, Alli and Kane gave the national side more than what our English players gave when they were given the chance. Vardy’s confidence is on another level, so was Kane’s turn.

  13. rico says:

    Morning Marshall and all…

Think it’s time for England to say goodbye to Walcott, AOC, Gibbs and probably Jack too.. No place for Rooney either…

  14. scottfromoz says:

Choosing players in form usually works better than the alternative.
Morning all, and what a superb comeback.
To do that against such an opponent must give the squad a massive lift.

    Good Morning Boss and Peeps.

A week is a long time in football…..let alone 3 years after the present contract ends. lol

and remember that the present one runs till summer 2017. Do you think we will be singing the same notes in 15 months time???? I dont know what will happen this evening let alone June 2017.

But the thought of it terrifies me. So there you are.

I still feel there are more twists and turns for the next two weeks though.

Just a thought with regards match fixing……an under 21 match between Malta U21 and Montenegro U21 is being investigated by the authorities and the police. And this is a match were not much money is at stake. So please do not tell me that matches in the EPL are not fixed…..especially where there is way TOOOOO much at stake.

I still feel that some of the EPL matches were fixed. Especially where there are clear favourites and suddenly the team which is not expected to win does so.
