Higuain set to fly into Arsenal, Jovetic back on & Cesar would spell the end of a Pole….

Morning all,

We need a solid keeper and Cesar seems to be just that. He wasn’t too bad for Brazil in he Confederations Cup was he? He’s got a medal that’s for sure and he’s had his hands on a trophy, not many in our current squad can brag that.

‘It’s hardly the World Cup or the European Cup’ you may cry. So what, you can only win what you are in, and he helped Brazil to do just that and let’s not forget a few top countries were participating in the competition.

He’s a good age, 33 years old and could be the one to really push Szczesny for that number spot and help our young keeper to improve his game at he same time…

Hang on, what about Lukas Fabianski?? He’s sill only 28 years old and has another year of his contract remaining…..

This is World Cup year and all three keepers will be fighting long and hard to be at the top of their game all season,  in hope of a call up   from their country when the World Cup squads are announced. They need to be playing each week.

So unless Arsene Wenger is planning on selling either Fabianski or Szczesny, then surely Cesar wouldn’t contemplate joining us?

Are we really favourites to sign him anyway? Is a deal as likely as newspaper reporters like to make out?

All this has no doubt come about because the player has said he will be leaving QPR and he will stay in London. Let’s forget the Totts, they have Lloris, but what about Fulham, West Ham or newly promoted Crystal Palace? Or even Chelsea. They may have Petr Cech but Jose wants John Ruddy from Norwich and suggestion is they have already made an offer for him so they are after a new keeper.

Cesar signing for Arsenal is far from being anything more than a rumour in my opinion.

Talking of signings, Marca and every other newspaper report that the Higuain deal is very close now. The players father has reassured us all that his son will be an Arsenal player very soon too so that is a huge boost from Spain. Apparently Higuain is set to fly over to England and could complete his long-awaited move over the weekend.

I pray Wenger/Gazidis don’t let this one slip away…..

Oh, and a move for Jovetic could be back on too after Juventus general director Giuseppe Marotta told the club’s official website:

A lot has been said about Jovetic but difficulties in our relationship has made any deal difficult. At the moment I don’t think it will be possible, but a lot could happen between now and the beginning of September.

So there you have it, anything is still possible…..

Exciting eh……

Vito Mannone departed yesterday, he’s joined Sunderland. Good luck to him. Joining him in the exit lounge could be Francis Coquelin. Arseblognews report that he’s on he verge of joining German side Freiburg. Eurosport say he could join the Bundesliga outfit on a season long loan.

No surprise there really…..

That’s it for another day, have a good one……

    Morning fellow HHers,

We shall surely see soon enough re transfers…

As I stated yesterday, we did not buy Nasri, OG12, Yao Gerv and the likes until the 2nd or 3rd week in July so keep the faith gooners…

Freiburg SC also have Kruse who Dev. rates very highly and of course Ginter who reminds me of the German legend Thomas Hassler of Koln many years ago… any working relation ship with a team which finished 5th in the Bundesliga and the 2nd best defensive record is worth something so far as we get one of their players too 😉

  2. tsgh says:

    Only fools and horses 😀

On J. Cesar, I am not slated him… he will definitely be a good goalie for us if the rumours are true but I think most fans have forgotten about his flappy moments at Inter… reason he was replaced and his poor WC display in South Africa.

In the world cup Cesar came off his line to intercept a cross from Sneijder, but uncharacteristically missed the ball he tried to blame with Felipe Melo after allowing the cross to pass into the goal without a touch from César.

  3. Afeez olanrewaju says:

I pray dat will complete d deal today and on veil him torromo… By the grace of God

  4. Bradster says:

    Morning all,

Totally agree ts. He will get even less playing time this season at Arsenal so a loan will do him good.

The Suarez thing came out of no where. Sounds more like spreading rumours to change the odds on Higuain coming.

I wish we would buy Courtis (not sure of the spelling) from Chelsea. He’s quality and clearly excess if they want Ruddy.

  5. tsgh says:

… his performances were so unpredictable that from 2010 he was not selected by the Selecao until February 2013 when his performances at QPR showcased him as a good performer.

The strange thing is that he was winning titles at Inter around that time, even though Toldo the original no.1 was also helping

  6. Jay says:

Morning all,So the new target is Suarez eh,I thought he couldnt wait to leave our shores .Still he could add some bite to our attack.

  7. potter says:

Just back from Catalunya , checked with Sport , A.S and El Mundo Deportivo yestrday and there was no mention of Higuain/ The Arsenal in any of them.

  8. Joaquim moreira says:

We must look for Brazil team, the way how they defend and specially, how the two “DM” midfields help the defenders. It’s completely different for English football way of playing. The worst thing in Cesar are the crosses. In the Confederations Cup Uruguay,Spain, nigeria, etc didn’t played in this way. So, with a strong and high defence in the center and good and quickly defenders in the right and the left, helped by strong, quickly and good defenders on the midfield, Cesar is confortable.
That’s the mean reason because Cesar make an extraordinary exhibition versus Arsenal last year at Emirates and was a normal/mediocre goalkeeper last year in the Premier League versus mostly of the others teams.
I hope I will be wrong. In this case and in Paulinho, now in spuds squad. He is a interesting player. Younger, he plays in a horizontal and a vertical line. Strong in defence. Quickly over the ball. He is able to score goals because he appears frequently in the penalty area. He also has a good shoot and score free kicks. In Corinthians this year, he scored a few goals (shoots and free kicks). Besides, he was not so expensive like Ramirez (22 millions versus 20 millions) a more completely player and for me, more good player then gilberto silva was.
The future wouldl will say who is right

  9. Jay says:

Higuains Dad,mum cousins have all had something to say on this possible transfer Higuain.has not actually said anything ,as far as I can remember. When I see it on Arsenals web site I will beleive it.

  10. Gtid says:

The reliable Tony Evans says if #Suarezgoes to #Arsenal(recent rumour), he’ll bare his arse at Anfield. He’s that confident it’s rubbish.
    Anyways, buzzing on Higuain’s latest

  11. Wavy says:

    Morning all,
Cesars’ they are notoriously unreliable, historically! Why should this keeper be any different from his namesakes? Blames others for his errors, flaps at ti mes of crisis, spends too much time eating peeled grapes and indulging decadent practices! Medal or no medal notnfor me and not the Arsenal. We have two very able keepers who have/are developing well. Leave them alone and give them game time. Perhaps the club could organise a Shilton/Clemence scenario. A run of a few games each according to opponents? Why not? A new method of team selection? Rednose did it regularly according to need, goalkeepers as well as outfield players.
Arsenal should save their money, they are good at that, and turn their attendtion to more pressing needs, winger, DM, defender etc, you know the list by now?
Cesar is dead, long live Chesney and Flappi and Marti!

  12. tsgh says:

Hi JM, I agree with you re Cesar’s performances…

The same can be said of Fellaini and Diame who play well against the big teams and appear very average the rest of the time…

The argument could be that they are big game players.

I admit I only watch a few Brazil Preimera matches but any time I have seen Corinthians Ralf has stood out for me as a DM…

What Paulinho has though is that he scores a lot of goals i.ee long range shorts…. but at Arsenal will he be allowed to shoot from range?

TR07 was very good at long range shots before he joined us but since then … :

  13. potter says:

tsgh :- Drove past his new house on the way to the Airport , if I had that I would not be contemplating London. Papers are full of Neymar and Spain’s loss to Brazil. I was in a Barca penya for the match and the locals were blaming Xavi for being too slow in the middle and were discussing Cesc taking over from him this year.

  14. Scott from Oz says:

Schwarzer is the perfect age, perfect price, and the perfect professional.
    Still playing brilliantly, as well.

  15. tsgh says:

    Intersting that… Potter

I thought Gustavo nullified the 2 amigos completely last sunday…

With Gustavo dropping into the sweeper role when Brazil had the ball it allowed the fullbacks to bomb forward causing Pedro, Mata and Iniesta to defend more often than they would like…

  16. tsgh says:

Scott, I am getting tired of saying I agree with you 😀

So I disagree! 😉 On a serious note, he will be the perfect foil for Scez and his ego

  17. potter says:

See that Flamini has come out of contract at Milan , so that’s another move with a signing on fee he will be after.

  18. Lenz says:

So you guys think cesar would be expensive for 1.5 million and 70,000 for two years so that szczesny would mature.smh.
You want the australian, the same one who stockdale or what his name sends to the bench just because he is free.meh

    arsenal fans *facepalm*

  19. Lenz says:

So you guys think cesar would be expensive for 1.5 million and 70,000 for two years so that szczesny would mature.smh.

  20. rico says:

    Morning all..

    So people don’t want Cesar

Higuain isn’t quite so ‘done’ as false reports suggest.

    Jay – 10.08 😆

  21. Scott from Oz says:

Rico, i have nothing against Cesar…..i never even said he was too expensive 🙂 ….i just don’t think he will add as much as he will take away from our goalkeeping stocks.

  22. Bradster says:

Does Fabianski really think he will be number 1 at Arsenal? I would think he would want first team action to compete for the Polish number 1 spot. The last few games Wenger showed he has more confidence with schez.

  23. Scott from Oz says:

Bradster, a few broken ribs had an influence on the decision who kept towards the end 🙂

  24. rico says:

    Bradster,

If I was him, I’d go. The only way he will ever get over his confidence problem is to play each week and like you, I just can’t see that happening…..

But he says he is ready to fight Ches for the number one spot.

I don’t think either of hem are good enough to be or number one….

  25. Scott from Oz says:

    They both are good enough.
Szczesny needs to stay grounded and just play….shut the trap.
Fabianski just needs to believe in himself.
Best defence in the league after Xmas and we question them??

  26. Bradster says:

I just don’t think wenger sees him as the number 1 for Arsenal and will be pushed down to number 3 if we get an experienced keeper in.

  27. emma says:

    Morning all,
I dont see Ceasar coming in just paper talk. We’ve got 2 good keepers and will be interesting to see who is No1 next season. Quite agree with Scotts response 11:22

Looks like we are flogging or sending the deadwoods out on loan. Rumour that Park contract has being cancelled, Chamakh discussing with 4 clubs, Coq going out on loan and possibly loan move for the worlds best striker Bendtner. Hope we hear something soon on Santos
I still think Gervinho can be a good squad player so lets keep him

Hope we tidy up higuain situation before the asia tour. I think we will be in for Fellaini when the clause on his contract expires on the 15th of August and pay a reduced fee.

  28. rico says:

Keepers so often divide opinion Emma, especially ours 😉

Good news re Park and Chamakh… Fingers crossed Santos finds another club…

I differ re Gervinho, but he’s another who divides opinion….

  29. Canadian Gooner says:

Good Morning to the Lady of the House and and fellow Gooners in residence.

One of the articles I read regarding Chelsea’s bid for the keeper John Ruddy stated that part of their interest in him is that he is English, that is home grown. Chelsea or a little short of home grown players in their squad. Julio Cesar doesn’t tick that box.

  30. Canadian Gooner says:

Jay – “…So the new target is Suarez eh,I thought he couldnt wait to leave our shores .Still he could add some bite to our attack.” Very droll, your last remark almost slipped past me. A very nice double entendre.

  31. emma says:

rico – Just hope Fabianksi stays fit enough to push Szeszny. You could see that after Szeszny came back from his mental breakdown he was better(kicking and distributing the ball)

  32. Canadian Gooner says:

Scott – Yes, but only if she had managed to raise him in her chicken manure supercharged garden. So, that would be a no, unless you are talking about something other than ‘home grown’ players?

  33. emma says:

tsgh – Wish I had 😉 . Spoke to my evertonian mate and got that info from her about the clause. If really we are interested we might come back for him after 15th Aug.

  34. Wavy says:

The man Bentner really is an egotistical arsehole. Does he not know that he is not wanted at his namesake Arse nal!

  35. tsgh says:

Scott, you know Ramsey has been given extra time off… he has mythical complete midfielder, I have been dreaming about since Rijkard and Lothar Matthias retired from football… 😉

Emma, I read about that re MF contract clause… Ken Wright will be losing sleep because of it

  36. rico says:

I’m off out for lunch, to a place where Peroni is on draught so if I am not back, I’ll be fast asleep somewhere :

    Back in a bit……

  37. Canadian Gooner says:

Rico – If Arsene is interested in a keeper, I think it would be only for the short or intermediate term. Cesar could do the job for us, at least until Szczesny gets his head straight. He could also help with Szczesny’s development.

As for Ruddy, if moneybags Chelski are having trouble getting him, I don’t see that we would be any more successful.

  38. Canadian Gooner says:

Rico – “…so if I’m not back, I’ll be fast asleep somewhere”. Is that somewhere special?

  39. Scott from Oz says:

    Just touched base with Oz.
He is alive and kicking, and will catch up with us soon.

  40. W.A.T.H says:

Evening Scott, so I have 20 quid on Aaron scoring 4 hat-tricks this season, I got 750-1..!

  41. Lenz says:

    Well Scott

i cant read and i cant absorb, and i dont want to grow up but if you think we are going somewhere with fabianski and szczesny then i think you need to check your head

  42. W.A.T.H says:

I would be telling Bendtner find yourself a club or your training with the youth team this season and your not part of the 25 man squad in anyway shape or form, not even to cut the oranges for half time….!

  43. tsgh says:

WATH, you referring to oranges at half time will get kev on here pronto… referring to how long you have been on mother earth for 🙂

  44. W.A.T.H says:

So who do you suggest Lenz….? You think both Flappi and Chez are crap or just not good enough..?

  45. agirlagunner says:

rico, it would be great if we could get Cesar. Szcz has not exactly impressed; and Fabianski is quite injury prone (although he did have a good run when Szcz was turning into a bit of a clown).

Oh, and isn’t it a little too early in the day to be drinking?? 😛

Hello, WATH, CG, Scott, emma, Ginge, potter.

  46. W.A.T.H says:

Never to early to drink AGAG it’s always past 12 somewhere in the world which is good enough for me…! GG with brekkie is mothers milk 😉

  47. agirlagunner says:

Typical, WATH. Entirely expected of you. 😀 GG in your cereal??

Who honestly believes we’re in for Suarez?? A great player, sure, but he needs to be muzzled. 😀

  48. W.A.T.H says:

Do you risk the dressing room harmony with a player thats a racist cannibal..? Doesn’t matter how good he is…! Not worth the grief for me even though deep down think we all know he’s score a shit load for us…!

  49. Wavy says:

Hurrah! We’ve made signing! Bellerin, he will be like a new Diaby then!
    Well, better in than out!
Bentner the slimy useless piece of poo thinks he is going to stay on the books and drag his £52k per week sitting on his backside sharing a shisha with jamshack up the Archway Road. Shift the turd Arsene………..anywhere will do, anyone will do! Cancel his contract, pay him off, just show him the door!
I think I speak for us all.

  50. tsgh says:

Ak, will be pleased Akpom, Yennaris, Aneke, Zamalek are all training with the senior squad.

Diaby is having his medical so he will be unveiled shortly 😉

  51. Wavy says:

Yeh but, Diaby will still be like a new signing………..again………again…….again…………and……….again! I make that FOUR times he’s been a new signing! Is that a record?

  52. agirlagunner says:

Bendtner is an embarrassment. A very costly one for us, too. He regards himself so highly, and it has no basis in reality; it’s almost laughable. And then you remember he’s still on our payroll, and then it’s just angering.

  53. agirlagunner says:

Wavy, but “Diaby has a very serious life, he doesn’t drink, doesn’t smoke, doesn’t go out, and is very conscientious in training.” (me channeling AW) He deserves another chance!!

  54. Wavy says:

Agag, my point exactly. And you can apply the same to the other greedy bastards who are sitting on very fat arses earning pots of money for nothing – leeches!
We know who they are and WE’RE COMING FOR THEM!

What we need is an exorcist to rid of the parasites.

  55. Wavy says:

Every team needs a ‘nice’ boy in the dressing room and Diaby fills that role. So if he re signs and sits in with the team he will will be able to lift the team by example of what a clean living boy can achieve……….presently……f**k all!
    Marvellous!

  56. agirlagunner says:

Happily, we have gotten rid of a good number of deadwood. 🙂 Now, to be shot ofr the rest of them. And get the reinforcements in!!

  57. Lenz says:

    WATH

in 3 years time szczesny would be world class and Fabianski well,is not arsenal standard.

Cesar would be our best bet,he needs the world cup badly next year,he would be extra-motivated.excellent shot-stopper.

But if AW doesn’t szczesny is capable in the long run then begovic.

    Keepers
    1.cesar 2.szczesny 3. Martinez

  58. tsgh says:

Easy on B-52… he brought Birmingham city up from the Championship to the EPL with his 21 goals… 😮

Maybe that is why he is in a league of his own 😉

  59. allezkev says:

    Ginge, 1.53…
Martinez, Akpom, Yennaris, Aneke, Eisfeld, Gnabry, Miquel, Olsson and Zelalem (16yo German) who has already played in Arsenal’s U18’s…
I believe 3 (or is it 5) of those kids, will go on the Far East Tour.

  60. allezkev says:

    Afternoon Gooners…
Nice Post Rico and afternoon to you…

    BOOOOOOOOOOOO Agag….. 😛

  61. allezkev says:

Suarez had been strongly linked to Real Madrid, prior to the reported interest of Arsenal…

Maybe Arsenal let it be known, that they were in for Suarez to give Madrid a ‘hurry-up’ over the Higuain deal?

  62. agirlagunner says:

Ha ha, rico. You sure? 😛

Kev, you scared me. 😛 How’s driving? Shopping update?

JM, can’t wait to get this Hig deal done and dusted.

  63. allezkev says:

    3 years!!!

    £24 million!!!

    That’s a joke…

4 years minimum, surely, 5 years realistically for that kinda outlay…

I read that earlier and thought it was crap.

3 years! That means after 12 month’s we’ll be sweating on him signing an extension to his contract….

  64. allezkev says:

No more shopping Agag, I gotta do some saving.
But my brogues are cool…. 😉

A bit better Rico, still need a couple of Lemsips to get me thru the day.
    Didn’t expect this bug in July… 🙄

  65. allezkev says:

Agag the traffic in London, this week, has been like Omaha Beach, a warzone….
    Bloody nightmare.

    The pollution is rank…

Going away for a few days in a week and a half. I can’t wait.

  66. agirlagunner says:

    Boo, Adam. 🙂 Howdy??

AK,good on you. I’m behaving, too. 😛 Nice to hear you’d be on break soon. And I have to wiki Omaha beach. Lemsip with some GG would work wonders, btw.

  67. rico says:

Yes agag, I am fully focused and making sour dough 🙂

Hi Adam, you watching the tennis? 😉

  68. Adam says:

Kev. You know I am a muesli man. 🙂
Rico will tell you that I mentioned the Suarez thing to her a couple of weeks ago.
Hi Agag. I have some Hay Fever I think. I have never had it before but I think I wore my red spandex jeans too tight and it triggered a pollen reaction. 🙂

  69. Adam says:

I can’t tear myself away from the tennis Rico. As you know I am a big fan of Andy Murray. I live every point really.

  70. agirlagunner says:

Ha ha ha, Adam. It’s the red spandex revenge; you abused it, and it’s retaliating by giving you a completely unrelated medical condition. 😛 Wasn’t aware you were another Murray fan. Lots of ’em in here.

Nice, rico. I can manage cookies (who can’t, in all honesty?) in the oven but not bread. 🙂

  71. rico says:

You did mention Suarez a while back Adam.

It’s the ladies today and having had 15 wives, I thought you might be tempted to view….

  72. emma says:

Higuain’s 3yrs contract originated from a twitter account last night. The press as usual were silly enough to go along with the story

  73. rico says:

That news has really hit me Adam, as a youngster, I travelled many a mile to watch The Nolans…..

  74. allezkev says:

It seems that Coquelin has joined Freiburg, I wonder if Mathias Ginter is coming in the other direction?

  75. allezkev says:

I wonder if Higuain has been spotted arriving at Heathrow/Gatwick/Luton/Stanstead/Lydd/City Airport, yet???

  76. Scott from Oz says:

Lenz, you are right…reading is difficult, obviously.
You suggested we had stated Cesar was not worth the money but that is a lie.
Those saying we don’t want him but would prefer Schwarzer never said that, so stick to the facts and have a translator handy next time.
Learn to read and absorb the facts, not just what you want to.
Morning everyone…well, the literate few 🙂

  77. Lee says:

Looks like Gonzalo is gonna be done and dusted, go get Rooney. Fellaini and a keeper……..the silverware will start to flow! COYG & FOYS!!

  78. Scott from Oz says:

Doggies are good mate…..thanks for asking.
How is your side of the world?
    Morning Lee.

  79. DutchGooner10 says:

    Morning Lee,

Yachting season starts slow this year. How are the sales? Guessing a bit more sun could seal more deals.

    Cheers

  81. Scott from Oz says:

Greyhounds are beautiful dogs with a great nature…you would never regret having one as a pet, DG.
Lee, i am hoping to read some good news on Arsenal.com today 🙂

  82. Lee says:

Well Higuain would be a good start………
Brudda Adam, tiz gonna b roastin in da hood….get d red stripe in da ice!

  83. rico says:

Morning Scott, Adam, Lee and DG, you are all early birds… 😉

Dg, I will cancel the search party 😉

  84. Adam says:

Ah do brudder Lee. You made me see di error of mi former ways for you is di light and di truth.

  85. DutchGooner10 says:
