Higuain and Chamakh are so alike. Another bid rejected & a 'two in one' on Arsenes radar….

Morning all,

Just a couple of days ago I posted a photograph from the official site showing a lonely looking Chamakh on the training ground. As he stood watching, the rest of the players looked happy and pleased to be back together again, Chamakh looked like an outcast on his own.

Across the ocean and into the Spanish Capital of Madrid, Gonzalo Higuain has been training alone too…

According to reports in Spain, ever since he returned from his break in Miami, he’s been working hard on his fitness to ensure he’s in tip-top condition for his and coming season a his new club. That new club of course, is strongly suspected to be Arsenal.

You didn’t honestly believe I thought the two players were alike in any other way they play did you? Pfffff……

Well well, many a story has been floating around about Luis Suarez and Arsenals interest in signing him, this morning nearly all the newspapers report that we have actually made a £30 million offer for the Liverpool player which was quickly rejected. (‘Phew’ said Kroenke when he heard that news)

Apparently, there is some kind of clause in the layers contract which specifies that if an offer was to be made for £40 million, Liverpool have to be prepared to listen.

Now that just isn’t going to happen, well not from us. In any case, he’s reported to be wanting out of the PL as he’s all too often hard done by. Not quite sure how a lengthy ban for biting a fellow footballer is being hard done by but that’s just my opinion…

Meanwhile, Freiburg midfielder Matthias Ginter is, according to The Sunday People, the latest youngster linked to us. Arsene Wenger has been keeping tabs on the 19 year old German defensive midfielder who can also play in defence.

Now this seems more like the way we know Arsene Wenger to do business. Sweeten the club by giving them Francis Coquelin for the season and then nip in and make a cheeky offer for a player he likes.

It will be like a ‘BOGOF’ deal if we end up signing Ginter as he can play in two positions equally as strong in both…..

The only snag in this deal is Borussia Dortmund who are also keen sign the player.

In less than a weeks time, Arsenal will be involved in their first pre-season fixture against an Indonesia Dream Team. Their flight departs on Thursday so we should soon hear details of the travelling squad..

Be interesting to see which of the youngsters travel…..

Actually, it will just be interesting to get some ‘real news’…

I’ll leave you with an interview from the neighbours new signing – thanks Lee

You have to feel for the chap….

Have a good day all…..

Morning all,Lovely sunny weekend ,the Lions roared ,Murray ,battered another jock and Qatada got the boot.Bring on the Aussies for the battle for the Urn on Wednesday

  2. MW says:

If Wenger is not prepared to offer the reported millions for the Hig, then what chance is there of us offering £30m for Suarez and then go back with an increased offer. How these papers lead us all to believe they get this insider information amazes me.

  3. Best says:

If a curse were a blessing, am still searching for a curse to use for u…lol…
The video is awesome but please dont let d spuds see it. we are trying to reduce suicide rate. Great video

  4. Scott from Oz says:

MW, i think you will find Wenger made the right offer, but Real upped the price after the deal was supposedly done.
If he cowers to them, it will be open slather on Arsenal in any future negotiations.
    Fun and games.
    Good morning guys.

  5. potter says:

,Lovely sunny weekend ,the Lions roared ,Murray enters the history books, Hamilton screws up his start in Germany. All good stuff , meanwhile at the Arsenal……….zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  6. Ian Hawthorne says:

I don’t feel sorry for Paulinho. Spuds are holding on to Bale , getting Paulinho and Probably David Villa. We will miss out on Higuain and the NEW ERA for us will be to finish below Spuds for the first time in years. Our usual dithering will cost us big time this transfer window and I will be gutted when Spuds come to the Emirates and Villa smashes us to pieces

  7. Bradster says:

    Morning all,

Clearly we haven’t done our business early but not many teams have. Difference is that we don’t need to replace key players so late transfers are fine and good seeing that we announced to the world that we have pockets of money to spend.

I’m not saying that we don’t need the top reinforcements though. It just allows the new recruits time to bed in while we can stick with the team we had last season.

  8. Gtid says:

Ian that’s bs… playing the spurs with last season’s squad, i don’t see us losing that derby

  9. Canadian Gooner says:

Good Morning to the Lady of the House and all fellow Gooners in residence.

Rico – You’re headline had me puzzled, what is that lass on about? I’m sure a lot are going to log in out of curiosity.

Meanwwhile UnReal’s variation of the Chinese water torture continues. What a poor excuse for a club they are, a great history, but NO class. While not a follower of the Buddha, I do believe in the variation of karma, what goes around comes around. At some point in the future, hopefully the not too distant future, UnReal will get their come uppance. Maybe Arsenal dumping them out of the Champions league with a wonder goal from Gonzalo Higuain.

  10. Ryan L says:

Some fair points there Bradster, but I hope you’re ever so slightly wrong because making late signings could feel like panic buying and then relying on a team that failed so miserably last season, whilst waiting for new recruits to bed, does sound like a really depressing strategy, especially following Gazidis bold statements at the end of the season and the sporting euphoria of the weekend.

  11. S2S says:

    HAHAHAHAHA…

So what is next? Rambo to be used as a make weight for MF?

I think you will find Arsene is trying to get Hig, Nuri,Kaka and Saint Casilas all four for 30 Million there by solving our problems in all the departments.

@Rico: Do you think Metro will give me job after this story and there by I get VISA for UK and watch Arsenal play from press box?

    Ain’t I the dreamy one?

  12. Alex c. says:

I really dn’t care anymore. Anybody wenger wants to sign, nt my biz anymore. Tayad of checking goal.com. If £30million is nt enough, i suggest: Andre santos & Gervinho + £25million. Wats ur say?

  13. rico says:

    Bradster,

Have to slightly disagree, we needed early signings, ok it’s only day 8 but the squad needs to be all together at the earliest opportunity so we hit the ground running….

Also, after IG made his promises, the fans deserved to see them backed up…

  14. Lewis says:

    Morning all,

The end of last season we showed the best form of the league, the football may have not been the most attractive but we showed a steel and grit not to be beaten and grind out results the like many of us haven’t seen for years. This show’s we have the base for a shot at the title next year, all that’s needed is some ‘super quality’ to be added. Higuain and fellaini would be a good start, come on Arsene and Ivan, do something to get the fans behind you, get us all buoyed and positive for the season ahead, get the players bedded in with a full pre season with the squad. If the reports of Madrid moving the goal posts is true then you feel they are just stalling to see if anyone else comes in to blow us out the water, possibly waiting until the conclusion of the cavani deal, as I’m sure the other sugar daddy clubs are also on the hunt for new strikers!

  15. Wavy says:

Morning all, good start to the day….no signings though, well, well what a surprise.
The Higuain, Suarez shambles, if shambles it is, is reminiscent of us buying Cahill from Bolton. Wenger made what he thought was a good offer, I think the player wanted to come, then
Coyle and fatty Garside decided they wanted more than the agreed fee, Chelsea nipped in with a better offer all round and the England CB ended up with the chavs.
Assuming we have made a bid for Higuain that was accepted, in principle, and then Unreal decided to up the price, probably thinking that lots of other teams would come to them begging for his signature, creating an escalating auction. Guess what it hasen’t happened, yet. But what has happened is that Wenger, a man of his word, has walked away, leaving the bankers drain club wondering what they are to do, if they are going to raise a few bob or not.
I doubt that there is any substance in the Drac bid, but it may well get the spaniards to take a good hard look at themselves, change their tactics or find another player to hawk around. Ronaldo maybe. For sure and from all accounts they are seriously skint. Where did the cash for Isco come from, not from their savings book!
I continue to wait for our ‘big’ signing to be made. Still think I’m in for a long wait!

  16. Jay says:

Ian ,Dont bring the rope out just yet ,I still think we will bring in a couple of players. As for worrying about Spurs bashing at the Emirates mate ,it just aint gonna happen.I will be same old ,same old from the spuds.Big start and a blow up when the season starts getting towards the close.

  17. Canadian Gooner says:

Rico – It was not meant as a crticism, merely a statement that your headline had piqued my curiosity. This has to be to date the strangest transfer window in my memory. Lots of rumours, twitters, lies and shear lunacy; but very little action across the whole of Europe except for some of the nouveau riche clubs and the lower divisions.

  18. Mayor of the Woolwich says:

    Good job here Rico…

I got a question with a bloke over the weekend asking why it takes The Arsenal eternity to complete a deal, while the likes of Stoke, Sunderland etc are signing players
    My response?

Go support Stoke/Sunderland. Leave us alone.

  19. Canadian Gooner says:

S2S – Your dreams are no more ludicrous than the verbal diarrhea most of the minor and major press are printing. Who knows you may just get that offer.

  20. Jay says:

Fellaini would be my first target Rico,he bossed the midfield against us for Everton last season.

  21. Bradster says:

I agree Rico, pre season would be the perfect time to get the new signings. What I mean is that we clearly aren’t going to do that so rather we get the right kind of player in than the crap like Chamakh, Santos, Grev and Park we got in previously.

  22. Wavy says:

Lewis 10.33, have agree with you. When all the megarich have filled their boots the pigeons can then have theor fill. We are one of the ground feeders, despite IG’s big talk!
Cavani is off to PSG! Apparently, whose next? Settled done deal. Higuain to Roma then?etc etc.

  23. Scott from Oz says:

Have a listen to you poms…
The Welsh beat us at Rugby.
    Scotland wins Wimbledon.
You have to stand on your own two feet in the Ashes.
Well, apart from your best player.
We are coming to get ya 🙂

  24. Canadian Gooner says:

Bradster – I have to agree with much of what you say about the transfer window has and will progress. Although I think the club will try to make a marquee signing this month, hopefully Higuain this week, to make a statement to the supporters and the other clubs in the BPL and ECL. Also, I think that signing will show our intent and may make it easier to sign our other targets. I also agree with Scott, we shouldn’t kowtow to UnReal or other clubs we deal with may/will play the same lowlife game.

  25. Scott from Oz says:

    That’s right.
    Thanks Ryan.
He is the only striker not being linked with anyone atm…..now i remember why lol.
    Ta mate.

  26. S2S says:

Rico, Can you write me a recommendation for METRO? I’d get you tickets. lol.

But I think we can get 3 of them at least. i.e. Hig, Nuri and Kaka.

And all 3 are quality. Nuri is one of the players who shows what can happen to you if/when you play for self proclaimed ‘ special one’.

  27. Scott from Oz says:

Arsenal need to take a stand.
Tell Real to stick it up their arse, and move on.
Let them sweat on Higuain, and the cash he brings that they desperately need to buy who they want.
The massive clubs that can afford Higuain…Citeh, Chelski, Yanited, Barca etc, etc, etc do not need him as they are all well stocked up front.
The clubs a level down can’t afford him, and this puts us in a unique position, so why don’t we use it.
Tell Real to get it done within 24 hours or we move on.
Lets then go and put bids in for Suarez, Rooney, Lewandowski…any guy Real may be keen on, and light a fire under their arse!
    We are a massive club.
We have the cash and can pay up front for a player.
Why don’t we use this and negotiate from a position of strength??

  28. ktr7 says:

I agree scott.however i would definitely take suarez over higuain.Gazidis has been saying we are loaded…put in £40mil for Suarez and see how pool’s American owners react.

  29. Scott from Oz says:

KT, we won’t pay 40 million.
    We will get Higuain.
The 30 million offer was a rev up, but i would take it a step further.
Offer 35 million….that is getting within range.
Talk to the others as well.

  30. Canadian Gooner says:

Scott – While I don’t disagree with your sentiments, Arsenal will act with dignity in the negotiations for Higuain. Suarez wants to got to UnReal, they apparently are interested in him, but haven’t made a bid yet. They have been busy getting their No. 1 target Illiramendi. I think the bid for Suarez is Arsenal showing UnReal that they wont be held to ransom and can pursue other targets including Un Real’s own. No yelling, no screaming, no name calling; just a not so gentle nudge in the ribs. UnReal could be left with a very disgruntled player who their fans wont warm to after his public statements. It is a game of chicken. Who will blink first. If Arsenal have a viable alternative, maybe they should just walk away.

  31. ktr7 says:

For suarez scott if thats what pool want we would pay it.he was the best player in the league last season and the only reason he did not win the PFA was because of the Ivanovic incident.despite his antics i would take him in a heartbeat over hig/lewandowski/jov/rooney.he would be incredible under AW.

  32. Scott from Oz says:

CG, i agree…no need for fanfare.
I didn’t mean it should turn into a slinging match.
We are big enough NOT to be pushed around, and shouldn’t be.

  33. Scott from Oz says:

KT, i agree he is star, but the antics….not sure i want to take the risk, to be honest.

  34. W.A.T.H says:

    Morning you lot………….

KT, do you take the risk of dressing room unrest bringing in a racist cannibal…?

  35. rico says:

10.44 Bradster, totally agree, we need quality, not some old dross some other club doesn’t want…

  36. W.A.T.H says:

KT, no denying the fact he is a top top player but it’s not even about a player that may not get on with a player or two it’s about the squad being unhappy bringing in such a controversial player with huge issues and baggage..!

  37. ktr7 says:

id take that risk to be honest.he is the caliber of players we should be targetting.he would make an impact immediately.I think wenger maybe serious about him.it feels more than a smokescreen to me.

  38. ktr7 says:

no problem rico.it also seems to me that madrid aren’t very keen on suarez.they made illaramendi and isco their prime big money targets and i bet if they come to England they would first go knocking on levy’s door.

  39. Scott from Oz says:

S2S, i said this last night.
I do not see the point in changing what turned out to be a brilliant defensive unit.
Fellaini….i would take him, but no way would i lose Ramsey for him.
    Ask yourself this.
How much has Ramsey improved in 12 months.
He is still young enough and coming off a bad enough injury to suggest he has a hell of a lot more improvement in him.
I would not sell him until we at least get to the bottom of him.

  40. Scott from Oz says:

An upset all the great work Lee?
Why change something that isn’t broken?
    Big call mate.

  41. SD UK says:

I wish I had the time , I would have love to post an article and tittle it : The Death of The Tabloids

When I heard about the Luis Suarez bid, I laughed because I knew it was the desperate attempt of our favourite Journos (Journalists) to get some traffic online and create a curious newspaper sale on Monday morning.

    They usually come with quotes like;
    From a reliable source
    Insider source
    From a reputable link
Recently – from father or brother who is the agent

    or better still;
    Seen at the airport
Seen talking with a physiotherapist (made that up)

The funny thing is agents and families are having fun with this and will a times take advantage and just phave fun with the journalist by giving them bogus information.

Anyways , the news that we had a £30mil bid rejected by Liverpool is rubbish and the fact that it is for Suarez who has a 10 match ban or 8 (can’t remember) is just ridiculous.

We lost the chance to fight for the championship last season in just 8 games and we were still 4th. Just to highlight the thin line between winning a trophy and not winning one in the PL.

So , Sunday was boring generally, because players, coaches and agents were having a day off and the journalists got restless and then someone got itchy fingers.

Then we got the weirdest news of all and Sunday itself became excited albeit deceitfully.

What the papers don’t realize or do but dread the reality is that we are the links, we are the reliable or unreliable source mixed in the unfathomable hub of the web.

By the time the day is done all of us would have read or listened to the latest reliable and unreliable news about football which makes the following day’s tabloid useless because it is not new anymore.

Sports Journalism as we know it is dying because as far as we know; Rico, tsgh, Steve or Scott of OZ could be working in Emirates Admin department.
Although Scott of OZ sounds like he is operating from Australia but then his nephew could be Ivan Gazidis’ PA, now that will be a reliable source, or not 🙂

Have a nice day, I wish I had time.

  42. kel says:

Ramsey is definitely improving Scott and I also would like to keep him. But if I’m honest I’d take Fellaini over Ramsey every day of the Wk..

  43. ktr7 says:

i don’t think we are actually interested in fellaini.that is a smokescreen in my opinion.i don’t see how he fits at all…

  44. Scott from Oz says:

SD UK….sounds like you have nothing but time to come up with that drivel lol.
    Waaayyyy too much time 🙂

  45. Scott from Oz says:

    Now…maybe.
My point, or question, was where will Ramsey stand in that comparison on 12 months time??

  46. rico says:

Ramsey and Fellaini for me too but if I had to choose one….. 😉

But I’m with Kt, I don’t think Wenger wants Fellaini, I think he’d rather spend the bulk of the money on Rooney and Higuain..

Then Capoue, Ginter or someone like them and then Grenier and a couple of squad players

  47. rico says:

Wath, you forgot to add ‘honest’ to 11.49 😉

Lee – I saw that earlier – shocking to say he least…..

  48. southyorkshiregunner says:

    Afternoon all.
Suarez is a class football player.
He has baggage? He does, but who in this life doesn’t?
Suarez called Evra “Blackie”. How does that translate from Uruguayan to English? I have no idea. Uruguay isn’t England. In England political correctness and the supression of free speech is high on the agenda and very, very frustrating. You can’t wear a crash helmet to go into the bank or post office but a Muslim women can wear a burka? Uruguay housed some prominent Nazi’s after the 2nd World War and as a country it is fairly right wing….
Is it as bad as Rio Ferdinand calling Ashley Cole a “Choc Ice”? or Terry allegedly calling Anton Ferdinand whatever he called him.
It’s certainly not as bad as some Nigerian Muslim lopping a soldiers head off in Greenwich High Street or Asian taxi drivers and take-away delivery drivers grooming young white girls to both drug and rape them….
….I’d be more concerned with Suarez retaliating to other players and getting banned …..
..Patrick Viera was constantly getting booked and red carded until he curbed his aggression …
..Tony Adams was a self-confessed alcoholic and Ray Parlour wasn’t that far behind him when Wenger came to the club. Both players along with Viera kicked their bad habits and played some of their best football during a period when we won two doubles…..

..Maybe Suarez needs Wenger as much as Wenger needs Suarez…. who knows?

Personally I’d welcome any top talent to Arsenal.
Smokescreen for Higuain or replacement for Higuain? No idea….
Either Marca or AS were running a story a few days ago about Atletico Madrid wanting Olivier Giroud ….
…Fantasy football I know – but could it be that Wenger wants both Higuain and Suarez, a bit like Man City wanted Aguero to play with Tevez?

No-one really knows; but Gareth Barry aside, NOW we are being linked with world class players…

  49. Scott from Oz says:

Syg, you left out the trait i detest most in a footballer….diving.
    Yes,he is a racist…….
    Yes, is a serial biter.
Yes, he is a serial diver.
It is in his make up to just be a grub.
If he only had one bad trait, i could get past it, but he is just a shit human being, and not somebody i want representing the club.
    Just my opinion.

  50. Bradster says:

If United get Tiago does that mean Moyes does not see Kagawa as the creative mid role? I wish we would put a bid in for Kagawa, I think we could get him.

  51. rico says:

    😆 SD

It’s all very well being linked to world class players SYG, but we are still miles away from signing any….

  52. rico says:

Zara Phillis is expecting a baby, how lovely is that….

Hope he/she doesn’t have ears like his Dad 😉

  53. Wavy says:

“But nothing ever happens” Wilfred Owen, ,Exposure’ a war poem.

Suarez fantasy journalism! Fellaini for Ramsey same ols sh*t!

Believe new signings when I see them on the team photo, not before.

Sanogo is our marquee signing this summer – enjoy!

  54. W.A.T.H says:

Thing is Scott you know we’ll start of at 30 and then go up in increments of 500K until the dippers accept…! Why would we be daft enough to offer what it would take first time round god forbid we offer 40mil when they would of accepted 34.5mil…!

  55. ktr7 says:

scott am with wath.it would be daft to start the bidding ay £40mil.last week the mancs bid £10 mil for Baines;its called negotiating.its like sending a scout to see how they react to it in preparation for a better one closer to their evaluation.

  56. southyorkshiregunner says:

There was a twitter debate the other day Scott …. “My support for the club is unconditional” or “My support for the club is conditional”… It was fairly highly charged…..

Merson was a self confessed drug addict, gambler, womaniser and alcoholic … I like many, loved it that he played for Arsenal.. Why? because he was a great player in his time….
… Tony Adams did time inside at HMP for his umpteenth drink driving conviction, was a self confessed alcoholic, womaniser and dickhead … I like many, loved it that he played for Arsenal.. Why? because he was a great player….

Emmanuel Eboue was and probably still is a serial diver, pantomime dame, actress and shit footballer, but fckng hey – he was also an all round nice guy …. I hated him pulling on the shirt… He was everything what I despised about what the club I’d always loved, had become. Mediocre.

Spiky players have that aggression that gives them that bit more than the rest. Another era I know, but Charlie George was a spiky, nasty piece of work, but take that away from a player and you lose that edge. The same could be said of Stan Bowles in the same era or Gascoigne in another. The edge is sometimes what makes good – great.

  57. NashuaGunners says:

Good Afternoon Rico and Every one

SYG @ 12:40 well said. I can’t agree with you more.

  58. southyorkshiregunner says:

I didn’t ask SD, but thanks anyway …. BTW. I’m more black than Anton Ferdinand and I’m a 3rd generation watered down Scot … saying that I was over in Skegness during a heatwave on Friday ….

Frigging hell Nash … the next thing we know we’ll be exchanging phone numbers !
I’m up for any great players joining us…..

  59. Scott from Oz says:

Guys, i just do not believe we are in for Suarez at all.
Of course i could be wrong, but i don’t think so.
We want Hinguain and will get him.
After that, i have no idea.
I still have a little part of me that thinks there is a chance Cesc will be back sooner rather than later.
Syg, i know what you are saying, and i agree with everything you wrote.
I just do not want him at the club.
For me, and nothing will ever change my opinion on this, i put the way we play, and the way the club carries itself before results.
    Delusional.
    Dreamer.
    Idealist.
Whatever i am, so be it.
Rather run 4th than win a trophy with that little piece of shit in an Arsenal shirt.

  60. Bob John says:

Hey Scott from Oz. I take offence at your alluding to the lack of English sporting success this weekend (10.52). After all the Lions had Corbisiero! Oh wait, he’s Italian/American. Er, Tuilagi? Oh, he’s Samoan. Vunipola? Er, Samoan too. Help! Anyone know where Geoff Parling was born!

  61. southyorkshiregunner says:

Hiya Lee – back out on 17th for 11 days …..

I like your honesty Scott. There’s nothing up with that. It’s refreshing. Canadian G more or less said the same last year ….. Honesty is great.

Your feelings would be different I feel if you had to grow up in and around a football (soccer) environment with the rivalries, the snide remarks, the backbiting, the piss taking and the hatred …. and not thousands of miles away in a country who’s national sports aren’t football (soccer)..

    Results first everytime for me….

FACTOID> in 1979 we broke Nottingham Forest’s unbeaten run at home, knocking them out of the FA Cup at the City Ground winning 1-0 courtesy of a headed Frank Stapleton goal.
We played backs to the wall. We were being hammered by a superior side and Pat Jennings played brilliantly. Possibly his best game for us. Forest hit the woodwork, we had balls booted off the line and in the second half we mugged them from a Brady free kick… We won. We certainly never ever deserved it and our football was shite. We got the result and went on to win the FA Cup that year.

Would I have rather we played delicious football and got spanked? Never. 1-0 to the Arsenal.

  62. rico says:

Bj, Chill a bit, we have been ribbing Scott over the weekend, it’s all a bit of fun, that’s all…

  63. Canadian Gooner says:

As the country and western song says “No news is good, that’s what they say”. I’m off to bed and maybe my/our prayers will be answered. Have a great day my friends. Keep the Faith!

  64. Scott from Oz says:

Syg, just because the game isn’t the national sport here, doesn’t mean it is not followed with the same amount of passion by some.
    Different passion….yes.
Still, in any sport, winning is secondary to me.
I follow Parramatta Eels…haven’t won a coin toss since ’86.
Sydney Swans have been my AFL side….when they won in ’05 it was their first in over 70 years.
I am no bandwagon jumper….i follow certain clubs for a reason and never swap.
As long as they are out there giving their best, i am a happy camper.
Again, i am not suggesting anything other than we share the passion, but in different ways, and there is othing wrong with that.
Rico, i think BJ was having a laugh 🙂

  65. southyorkshiregunner says:

    Hiya Canadian G.
In laymans terms it says we are after Suarez and Higuain, but we have turned our focus onto Suarez as Madrid are pissing us about ….

In my mind we are bolstering our squad going to buy them both as cast iron replacements for Maroon Chamakh and Nicklas Bendtner …. The French kid is a straight replacement for Park

The same as we are to buy Maroune Fellani, Grenier and Cesc as cast iron replacements for Coquelin, Denilson and Craig Eastmond … … We were looking at Lars Bender but Diaby should be ready for his 10 game season come the end of August ….

No idea who will replace the quality of Squillaci, Djourou and Santos …

  66. Bradster says:

I understand it as BJ is giving a bit of stick to the English not been English rather than to Scott.

  67. NashuaGunners says:

I’m one of those ordinary people with Extraordinary faith in AW.

Most of us if not all, have forgotten what happened last season when we dealt with RM over Nurin Sahin. They wanted us to pay over the odds for a player on loan and we refused and didn’t caved in and stood our grounds. Liverpool succeeded the deal and paid over the odds for a loanee. Did he (Nurin Sahin) won them a trophy? Where is he Now??? With all the money Liverpool spent for him.

Even Alan Shearer got into the act and said Arsenal has no AMBITION. Are we welling to pay over the odds for a player not yet proving in PL???

This is what Alan Shearer said just in case people forget…

“What a signing for Liverpool, Nurin Sahin on loan. Arsenal losing out shows why cups and ambitions matter to players. Liverpool looks strong.”

  68. Scott from Oz says:

    Well said Nashua.
Rico, i am usually the one guilty of taking a comment the wrong way 🙂

  69. rico says:

Oops, my error then if that’s the case, sorry Bj..

Ng, that man talks twaddle but I do believe that most know what gits Real are…. Surprises me that AW is even bothering to try and do business with them

Could do with Higuain submitting a transfer request….

  70. Bob John says:

Rico. No offence taken. Anyway the Aussies have started fast-tracking Asian club cricket spinners in their desparation for the Ashes!

  71. NashuaGunners says:

Give me Cesar, Fallaini, Adam Johnson (to replace Gerv) and Rooney (if he takes a pay cut) then we’ll see who is laughing now.

  72. W.A.T.H says:

Scott, your getting as obsessive about Cesc as you are about Aaron… Aaron will be most upset if he looses out on being your fav….!

  73. Bradster says:

Would Sunderland sell Johnson this season Nashua?

I still reckon buy once, buy a quality keeper of any age. If Schez is as good as we think he is then he’ll rise to the top and show he is the number 1 keeper. If he isn’t up for the fight and not that good then we have the quality already there.

  74. Wavy says:

Rico, 1.02, so Sanogo far from being our marquee signing turns out to be little more than a GPO tent signing, in that he was free and little known outside France!?
I’m still waiting for the marquee flood gates to open!

  75. NashuaGunners says:

@Bradster. Once the rumor out that Arsenal wants Johnson, he’ll put in a transfer request. Tell me, who doesn’t want to play in the CL??

Schez is on the ups and ups but once Cesar is on the doorstep Schez will get his act together.

  76. NashuaGunners says:

I really hope we get HIguain but not to pay over the odds when we can still get quality already bedded in PL. Benteke or Rooney will do us fine. We want players that can dig their heels in.

  77. Joaquim moreira says:

    afternoon all!
So, no new signs at the moment,
Will we go with the same squad (or almost) of the last year to Asia?
    This make any sense?

  78. Adam says:

Who wants Johnson? He was shit for Man City and even worse for a shocking Sunderland. Arsenal need to be setting their sights in a different Universe to that bloke. But first they need a new owner.

  79. Joaquim moreira says:

We don’t want him to go,” he said. “Furthermore, nobody from Arsenal has come here, or made an offer, not €27m, nothing. There is no offer.” – Fiorentino Pérez -R. Madrid chairman

  80. Wavy says:

So no bid at all for Higuain, according to Perez. No contact from Arsenal or any other club, according to Perez. Does that mean no Higuain to Arsenal? Has it all been smoke and mirrors?
I told you so, Sanogo is our major tent signing in this transfer window!

The club may have oodles of cash swilling around for transfers of a mega size but they ain’t gonna spend it, any of it! You’ll see. Diddly squat to improve our squad. Wenger thinks he’s got enough just like he did before we got hammered 8-2 by manure! He shat himself after that result and action was taken, too late to change the season’s events that year. I fear the same thing is happening again!

    Please let be wrong!

  81. W.A.T.H says:

Funny that JM, Higuains Dad says we have bid… Someone is telling porkies…!
David Villa to Ath Madrid is piss funny, he obviously didn’t fancy the Europa league with the swampies…!

  82. rico says:

Did Perez go to the same school of talking bollox as PHW??

If so, we can expect Higuain to sign tomorrow 😉

  83. stevepalmer1 says:

    Evening all, Nice one Rico,
What’s the interest on £70 million a week. Must work out a few quid i know.

  84. rico says:

Thanks Sp, it’s your post tomorrow and I have just got it ready. Hope you will be around to take the flak 😉

  85. Lee says:

However Umbongo is nailed on…skybet have suspended all bets on him joining us! Adam you owe me that 1/8 of crystal meth!!!

  86. devilgunner says:

Good Evening Lady, Sir, Gentlemen and Ladies.

Seems as if we have signed Bingo Bongo then as Lee has said.

Finally. We have also signed Nobo Dy.

I have a conspiracy tale for you. Apparently Real MAD-rid president has told AW to say that AFC have not bid for Higuain since the government is no longer funding and subsidizing and sponsoring RM and thus they have to make a good amount of bets that GH will join AFC so that when he eventually goes they can receive …..

    1) The fee….region of 25 million
    2) Bet365 betting….region of 10million
    3) Paddy Power betting……another 10 million
    4) Bwin betting ……….another 10 million
    5) Other bets…………another 10 million

This total of 65 million will fund their next spending spree so that they can get Bale..

    I rest my case!!!!

    😆

  87. devilgunner says:

I am with you on that Rico. But on the other hand I have got used so much to it that its not much of a concern as it used to be. A sort of acceptance so that I will not get depressed.

  88. rico says:

But it shouldn’t be that way Devil, especially after IG’s words. I wish he had just kept quiet, then we wouldn’t have expected early signings…

But, as long as we get a few top class players in by the time we play in the CL match then I guess most will be ok…

    Not the best way though….

  89. Adam says:

Lee. I am ecstatic over the news that Umbongo is on his way at last. I can’t remember where he is from though. 🙂

  90. devilgunner says:

as Rico says Adam………He is from Umbongo and his name is Bingo Bongo. Tall, dark and hairy. Can kick like a mule, is fascinated by bananas and has an almighty jump………his only little problem is that he does not know which head to used to head the ball. 😉

  91. ktr7 says:

what are the odds we sign amid all the suarez and higuain rumours we sign jovetic out of the blue?…fiorentina have got gomez now…i would not rule it out.

  92. ktr7 says:

am beginning to feel a sense of de javu rico…am no longer excited about the summer transfer window 🙁

  93. rico says:

I get that Kt….. But, I do believe we will sign a few goodies..

And no Lee/Adam, not Bill Oddie 😉

  94. devilgunner says:

He always has a circle around him. He seems a tidy pass master…a sort of Songinho with the tenacity of Petit. But then….that is the uruguayan league not the EPL

  95. rico says:

    Night Adam…

I too am offski for the day, it seems a long time since 4.50am…

Night Devil, Kt and anyone else reading…

    ‘Til tomorrow….

  96. devilgunner says:

    Too hot you say????

    😆

you should come down here in the mid of August mate. you will be singing FRYING ALIVE…..to the tune of staying alive.

    Good night mate.

  97. tsgh says:

I see SYG is at it again… I told you Eboue has a restraining order against you 🙂

    Hope you well?

Good post and comments as always.

Rico, your headline scared me a bit… Las Vegas and all 😉

Suarez and MF are over rated…. though very good players but over rated anyways. Forlan outperformed Suarez in the CC

Most fans and pundits have summed up MF’s season using that MNF match against Manure during the first week in the season. On most occasions he was mediocre. imho.

Why is the lunatic Vitsel preferred to MF in the Belgium team anyways… and I think that Belgium team is one of the best in Europe 😉

Manchester United announce Aeroflot As New Club Partners… I thought those ‘northerners’ were going broke 😉 sorry SYG 😀

    Night all…

Morning and afternoon Scott and Ng

  98. tsgh says:

Christian Benteke hands in transfer request… interesting or what… I will be chaffed if we got him

  99. tsgh says:

….And we have no CB in the squad apart from Miguel going to the Far East with TV injured AGAIN!Kos and the BFG got back today…

Maybe AW can convert Chamakh to a CB since he does not score goals 🙂

  100. allezkev says:

    SYG, 1.57pm…

    I was there that evening…
Fcuking brilliant mate, one of the best away games I ever went to…
    Superb header by Frank Stapleton…

    Lmao when we did them…

Still makes me smile today, ha ha…

  101. rico says:

Vermaelen won’t be travelling to Asia as he’s injured…

    I smell a rat…..

Morning Scott, Lee, Adam and all…

    Night Ak…

  102. potter says:

    Cracked vertebrae apparently,
Could I will be staying and fight for my place be translated to ” the money’s good and I’ve seen how Abou does it “

  103. rico says:

Or he’s off and doesn’t want to get injured. Or he’s off and he club don’t want him to get inured….

  104. Lee says:

Morning Brudder Adam and morning Gooners!
Jovetic looks to be citeh bound….
In answer to your question yesterday Brudder, I think you’ll find he was born in the Congo!
The world class signings will be like buses, I smelt it in my crystal meth yesterday…….

  105. Adam says:

And the first, Brudder Lee, could be Gareth Barry. What a coup that would be! And what a message it sends out.

  106. Adam says:

You know Brudder Lee, everything with Arsenal seems to be a wind-up these days. Their fan communications are completely non-existent. But, like Rico, I am still hopeful. 🙂

  107. Adam says:

When I get up in the morning and there is still no Arsenal news I always turn to The Bleacher Report for a good laugh but I must admit that Here Is The City are running them a close second and even threatening to usurp them as the most dumb, banal and generally excruciatingly stooopid football site, especially when they talk about Arsenal.
