He's staying! Twenty days to go, what a joke! ST up for grabs.

Morning all,

Whoever believed that an international friendly just a few days before the new Premier League season kicks off needs their head examined. It really is silly.

We have Per Mertesacker, Lukas Podolski, Wojciech Szczesny, Bacary Sagna, Laurent Koscielny, Olivier Giroud, Santi Cazorla, Jack Wilshere, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott all away on duty tonight.

Lord forbid any one of those players get injured and I don’t care that fixtures are labelled ‘friendlies’ – once that whistle blows, players and their teams want to win and will give their all.

England v Scotland for example, there is more chance of seeing a Martians than this fixture having any element of friendliness….

Fingers and toes crossed they all come back unscathed….

In the news:

Well it looks like any hope of signing Luis Suarez have gone after Martin Charquero, of GolTV Latin American, claimed that the forward told him personally he would not leave Anfield.

He tweeted:

Luis Suarez confirms to me he will not leave Liverpool. The support of the fans has influenced his decision.

Suarez see it as likely that he’ll sign a renewal (extension) to the contract that binds him to Liverpool.

That’s in The Daily Mirror this morning. Of course it could be all absolute rubbish from someone who wants to get his name out on show but then again, we have seen such u-turns in the game before. Money!

If true, the newspaper goes on to suggest that either Dzeko or Michu will be targeted by Arsene Wenger.

It’s also reported that Barcelona are now in the running to sign Gustavo, so a ‘Plan B’ is needed there too. Let’s hope he wasn’t our ‘Plan B’!

Please, no mention of Song returning………

Don’t worry, there’s plenty of time for the club to sort things out!

No, there isn’t it there, it’s the 14th August which leaves us just TWENTY days to sort out our signings.

The way we are going about our transfer business is an absolute disgrace. We are not a club that finished top of the league or a close second and just need one or two additions. We are a team that finished miles from the top with an already weak squad which struggled to make top four.

Our squad is now weaker having had the desperately needed clear-out. I’m not suggesting we should have kept any that have gone, but we sure as heck should have replaced them by now.

They should have been in and part of the clubs pre-season.

We really are a joke! Not that I or many will be laughing……

I wish Kroenke would sell up right now and take the board and Wenger with him…….

Still, if you are keen to watch us play this season and haven’t been lucky enough to receive the call of desperation from Arsenal FC, offering you a chance to buy a Season Ticket, it’s your lucky day.

A superbly located ST is up for rent for one season only. It is in the East Stand close to the centre block and THREE rows from the front.

It includes 19 premiership games and 7 cup matches including the champions league. The price is £ 1308 (cost price ) and will likely be for just this season.

Anybody interested please contact Dean on deanwengrow@gmail.com

That’s it for another day…..

    Morning all.
Too many bridges burned re: Suarez. All the tabloids are picking up a twitter message from Uruguay. His Mr. 10% will be pushing for the £50M transfer to go through. Why? because he will earn £5M, his client will get £5M plus a pay rise and Champions League football. It’s a win, win situation for both Mr. Suarez and his agent Mr. Guardiola.
All Liverpool can offer Suarez is mid table Mediocrity and his agent jack-shit.This isn’t going away, regardless of what the tabloids say.
Michu and Dzeko are sound, but they aren’t elite and are more or less similar to what we already have.

The stories emanating re: the Juve right back is interesting as are the Gustavo stories. We can only wait and see.

  2. rico says:

Been waiting and seeing for too long to believe much is going to change – the Rb story could have some truth as reports suggest Jenkinson is off out on loan…

  3. Oscar says:

I’m beginning to believe AW has a tricky move up he’s sleeves, its possible we may get to see Gnabry and other youngstars rise to the occasion this season; as competent backups to the first team. I admit being broken up a few weeks ago abt our reluctant and apparently non ambitious spending, but I must acknowledge the fact that AW is no fool*even if some ppl think he is* I’m sure he has a plan, cos of the positive vibes coming out of the emirates..

  4. devilgunner says:

Good Morning Lady, Sir, Gentlemen and Ladies.

That is me being polite because it is not good morning at all. Infact I am up to my nose regarding the news of the last 3 days.

Pathetic really. At this rate we will only have 11 players going into the new season.

Even the under 21 are being pummelled left right and centre.

  5. rico says:

Morning Devil, I get how you feel…

Walcott, Ramsey and Cazorla (fitness) are all doubts for Saturday. It’s a joke..

  6. Scott from Oz says:

I come out and Sean is chatting up the Queen lol.
Rico, it is not yet 7pm here, so Sean has an our or two up his sleeve.

  7. devilgunner says:

Are AFC trying to self distruct now???

    ………………….

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is ready to let wing back Carl Jenkinson out on loan this season.
The 21-year-old has made great strides since making his debut for the Gunners in 2011 and has made 23 appearances for the first team.
Now, however, the Emirates boss believes he is ready for the next stage of his development and like Jack Wilshire and Kieran Gibbs before him, that could involve a loan spell.
Sunderland boss Paolo Di Canio is keen to give the defender an opportunity to continue his education at the Stadium of Light but Wenger will insist the player fills a first team berth whenever fit.
Meanwhile defender Johan Djorou – having joined Hamburg on a season long loan – has made it clear to Wenger that he’s keen to rejoin at the end of the season despite the German club being offered a first option to make the deal permanent.

  8. Scott from Oz says:

Come on guys, we will be fine.
    We will spend.
There is absolutely no doubt we are lining up players to join us, but because we do business the way we do, us fans will know nothing until the deal is done.
    Patience guys.
We may not get the players we, as fans, want, but we will get players.

  9. devilgunner says:

I was gutted with the news that Perez has had to return home to Columbia. Had we got him we would have got one hell of a midfielder.

  10. rico says:

And those who sit back and allow him to be so lazy in the transfer window EIE. To save himself, he certainly neds to pull a few rabbits out of the bag..

I can’t see it myself, the longer this has gone on, the more we will look like being desperate…

Transfer should have been done and dusted early…

  11. Wavy says:

Rico, I fear that is true! A quick kiss from Brenda and all will be forgiven, for now!
    And
How can they possibly let Jenkinson go out on loan when we are so short of right backs?
This is madness on a scale not seen on the streets since the abolition of mental asylums! What are they thinking of?

    Morning all

  12. Scott from Oz says:

Debil, where did you read that crap?
I would be absolutey astounded if there was any truth in that at all.

  13. devilgunner says:

Juve want Janmaat and are willing to sell us Lichtsteiner it seems.

But while Janmaat costs around 7million, Lichtsteiner costs 12million.

And between the two I prefer Janmaat since he is more a ball player than Lichsteiner.

  14. rico says:

Scott – I admire your optimism, I really do, but I can’t see we will be fine. We need five players, 3 need to be really really good.

No doubt some will suggest it all comes down to CL, well it hasn’t stopped good players joining other clubs…

  15. Oscar says:

Hi Rico, its a team game and right now arsenal has the team spirit, do I blv we can win things without adding a world class ST and M?? Not at all, but I do blv we will add useful player(s) soon. Even if we don’t, I still don’t see arsenal not winning anything this season… The players really believe in themselves, the morale is high much higher than it has been @ this point previous seasons ago.. despite everything. Let’s not kill it worrying. It’ll be fine, this team no matter how frayed can win things

  16. rico says:

Francine – I read he prefers Napoli too, all media garbage I know, but we have been here before too many times…

  17. potter says:

You can’t win the league in the first few weeks but you can go a long way to losing it. A few more quick injuries and we will be on that route almost immediately. The lack of foresight displayed by everyone,:- board , manager and owner is mind blowing. As much as we need revitalising on the pitch , something drastic needs to happen off of it too.

  18. G_G says:

TBH I wouldn’t be surprised one bit to see Suarez stay at L’fool and sign a contract extension with a Huge increase in wages. Kind like Rooney did at Utd few years ago.
He’ll probably stay there another year then move on , as they surely won’t make 4th place with or without Suarez.

But do we care about all that ? NO
I care about Arsenal and If this news turns out to be like that , then I think that the decision of turning down Higuian when he was clearly available now looks even more shocking.
Even if Madrid upped his price, I still believe he’d would have been a steal AND more importantly we’d have him ready for our crucial CL qualifier and start of the season.
They played a Very risky game and it once again ended up tits up.
There also seems to be a power struggle between AW and the CEO , because I don’t see the benefits of telling everyone that this summer would be a new dawn for the Club and then here we are at the beginning of the season and like you said we have a weaker (at least In numbers) squad than last year.

We could have signed Cesar by now, a DM a replacement for Gervinho and a CB.
Those signings are imperative IMO and should have been
Sorted by now instead of concentrating (or pretend to) on a Top class striker.
What Afc fans want to see is AMBITION !!!
And you show ambition by reinforcing every area of the squad … Not just 1 position !!!
Let’s hope for the best and hope we manage to make some quality signings otherwise our 4th place ‘trophy’ would be an almost impossible task to achieve this year

  19. southyorkshiregunner says:

Brendan Rogers has very little credibility left.
An average player, an average manager and a liar.
The situation re: Rooney a few years back and what is happening to Suarez at Liverpool? Totally different. Man Utd challenge for top honours and win them; Liverpool don’t. And Alex Ferguson is very much different to Mr. Rogers.
For Suarez to come out and say what he did; you don’t renage on your words and go back and eat humble pie. He said those things for a reason – He wants out. The press can butter it up how they want; if he stays with Liverpool it is because there are NO takers, and NOT because he loves the fans and the city.

We have had a mass clearout therefore we need incoming players.

As for our star-struck youngsters being promoted; after seeing them humiliated 0-7 v Luton and 1-5 v Colchester, some major culling is needed, as if they can’t turn over two showers of shite such as Luton or Colchester, they’ll never make it.
Wenger should get out his machine-gun.

  20. potter says:

Only 1yr 8 months difference between Soldado and Suarez Xris so does that time equate to double the price for a very useful player.

  21. bigseg says:

There is no going back for suarez, the relationship has broken betwin him and the manager to extent of contestation of pride,so,the story could not be truth.

  22. rico says:

Sorry Oscar, I totally disagree. Team spirit alone will not win anything, just as have a squad with only 18 senior players won’t win anything.

They are humans, they will struggle to get through an entire season.

Ok, there is youth, but throwing them in at the deep end will result in one thing imho, injury as their young bodies can’t cope…

  23. Oscar says:

G_G cool analysis but I’m afraid u need to chill out… The boys on the pitch are the ones responsible for getting the job done, they’re the ones who ultimately receive the glory from any kind of success and they are not worried as we the fans seem to be ( every corner. Interacting with any member of the squad the 1st thing u notice is that morale is very very high. For som1 who has played the game I blv that’s key. On another note I hope we get useful additions but I won’t get hysterical@ least not when morale is this high

  24. Bradster says:

    Morning all,

Perhaps it’s Wenger’s final year of project youth in full force. Have a quality starting 11 and promote all the U/21’s as back up. Get the youth promotion working faster and promote U/18 to U/21’s to experience tougher competition.

  25. rico says:

If he was the right player who could score goals Xr’s, yes, look what £23 million for a 29 year old did for Man Utd…

I’d pay over the odds to get Rooney too..

Ambition is what our manager/board lack, that costs money sometimes..

But at the end, the club and fans and all the squad get rewarded with silver…

  26. Nathan says:

I have read a good number of your posts…most of them i like. First time posting a comment though.
I see a lot of fans on this blog and others saying AW has a plan, he’s not foolish, he knows more than most, etc. But, does it ever occur that he is human, that he too can fail by making unwise and untimely decisions, that when his first plan fails he must come with another and if that doesn’t work for any reason, he inevitably fails? It’s acceptable to say no one can control all the circumstances, but surely there will many situations that depend on how one thinks and executes. In the end, he may bring in some players and we may not like/know them, but we’ll have to accept them. This doesn’t happen quite often with other top clubs. Losing Suarez may not be totally his fault, if L’pool refuses to sell him. Again, losing him will be his fault, b’cos he did not up the bid at the right time. If he let go Higuain for Suarez as reported and then end up not signing the latter, then his wisdom and timing has failed, even if someone says he did not.

  27. emma says:

Thank goodness our obsession with suarez is over if true. Lets forget about Michu as he is not better than what we have here. Dzeko shitty won’t sell. There are still good strikers out there if we are willing to spend. Jackson martinez, Luis Muriel, Lamela. We wasted 90% of this transfer window chasing suarez forgetting to strengthen other positions

  28. jeff wright says:

Anyone who thinks that Suarez will join us is living in la la land.
You have to laugh though reading some of the theories on why he will sign up for us.
The notion of Wenger and Stan offering 50million for him tops the list, ffs there is more chance of pigs flying than that happening.

  29. rico says:

Oscar, you can’t lump all the blame on the players before the season even kicks off.

It’s the responsibility of the manager to sign the right players to have a full and balanced squad. He he done that right now? No, a big fat no.

Have the owner/board ensured that he has? No, a big fat no..

  30. Oscar says:

Rico 18 players or not, the squad has good versatile players, manure has won the league with less*giggs rooney scholes & others* arsenal has carzola wilshere ramsey walcot arteta and others lol, it’ll be fine. Tho I pray we get 2 more players at least

  31. potter says:

Oscar lots of us have played ant a lot of levels some higher than others and I agree team spirit is valuable and can take you so far but only so far. There is no point in closing your eyes and ignoring the facts. As a squad we are light and need reinforcement yes it’s great having a dressing room fully united however once the little 3 game niggles start in you will be looking over your shoulder looking for the seasoned professionals that will step in cover the problems.

  32. devilgunner says:

Oscar mate, if we get hysterical at the level that moral is at the moment we would have to try our damned hardest to be able to raise it one notch.

If you think moral is high at the moment I am afraid you are living in cuckoo land.

  33. tsgh says:

    Morning all,

A heated forum today… I am beginning to wonder myself what is happening at the club from top to bottom. There is no news of AW in his villa in France making calls at this time of the year as always to pull out a Park type of player which is even worrying.

There are still high quality players available with clubs like Bilbao, Leverkussen, hamburg and Stuttgart.

On a serious note, fans running riot based on a single twitter is a worry imho… re Suarez staying.

The club is definitely in shambles… this must be a ploy to get DD back certainly because we need more than Tom Fox and Dickie Law as negotiators to take the club forward.

At the youth level how and why Court and Brady hired Gatting is a worry. Players like Zelalem, Yennaris and Eisfield do no obviously want to play at that level anymore…

  34. Einstein says:

relax gooners what is the matter with you ?? the reason we havent done the business early is cos teams are getting mugged off with valuations. check fernandinho 30mil gonzo 30 mil ect ect, yes we need 3 – 4 bodies 1 – 2 of them stars. but we are in no rush, this team is good enough to see us through the first few rounds of games. we will make signings without a doubt im loving this transfer window watching other teams squirm about trying to keep their players out of our clutches. keep squirming i say. SIGNINGS WILL COME CHILL.

  35. rico says:

Bradster – Right now I hope it’s his last year, full stop.

emma – i’m not sure we ever had a chance of signing him, i’d still love us to though

  36. rico says:

Oscar, if you are happy with the depth of our squad, then that’s up to you.

I’m not, most aren’t as we see Arsenal FC to be a club better than simply having 18 senior players in it..

  37. rico says:

Not heated Ts, just debating about what AW is those above him are actually doing which from where I am sitting is naff all…

    Worrying to say the least…

  38. Oscar says:

Potter we have seasoned players, we are already becoming guilty of under-rating our players. Pls look @ the true spine of our team*mertasacker kos arteta carzola walcot* tell me if these players are the sort to lose their determination bcos of a few niggles here or there. Ramsey is the wild card this season in the middle, what we need is a striker and AW knows that.

  39. Bradster says:

But Rico that works perfectly. If project youth works the Wenger is a genius again. If it fails he just says he wanted to save the money and give a good platform for the new manager to work from.

  40. keith says:

wow qscar thats really optimistic of you….but really? what happens if we get a few bad results? team spirit shattered! Team spirit alone never won the league! quality additions in key positions plus team spirit….then we have some chance!

  41. tsgh says:

As I said last night Martinez got substituted due to injury last night, I hope it is not a serious injury btw because we will be an injury to Scez or Flappy away to having Ilev on the bench.

Oscar like you are I am still optimistic but I must admit it is still a worry that we haven’t even get a squad player to join us yet…

If clubs are asking for a lot now then surely they may be asking for more come next week. Note we have not won an open day game for a few season now so I expect the Erm to be toxic this weekend if we follow that trend…

How Seb was refused a permit when Man, Chlesea and other teams can get special talent permits for youngsters who have played less games than Perez so easily is a major worry too.

  42. rico says:

I didn’t see it like that Bradster – I especially like the latter part 😉

Any new manager would have nearly £220 million next summer, if it all goes wrong, we’d need that much.

I’m still hoping that Stanley is ready to make a huge profit on his toy…

  43. Bradster says:

How old is Illev? He’s currently number 3 after yesterdays U/21’s. Training injury to Flappy or Sczez and he’s on the bench this weekend

  44. devilgunner says:

What phrase cant we use Rico??? The one you said if we used it we go in the bin!!!

    kindly clarify please. 🙂

  45. tsgh says:

    tim payton ‏@timpayton 13h

Ivan Gazidis shaking hands all day at Wembley tomorrow in new role as Chair of FA International Cttee. Rather he shook on a transfer deal

  46. Einstein says:

i should change my name ?? remember this cos i will remind you after the transfer window shuts and we are jumping up and down in excitment at all our new signings.
Einstein is a gooner and he knows.

  47. rellends says:

why do the apologists believe the mantra “don’t worry le boss will have something up his sleeve”? what evidence are they basing that on? we are a bloody shambles and the belief that if you wait till the end of the window you get bargains is a myth. hence, we ended up with andre santos and park. it’s all just a fucking joke.

  48. Oscar says:

Devilgooner*wat a name!* pls get off the stands and try interacting with a few players, they don’t bite. U’ll see they blv more than ever that the squad can win things this time, like us they wud welcome a few* key signings but without it they still know they can compete, the senior players like Mert really blvs the youth dept can support the senior team, the senior players have faith in the younger players as a result of the preseason tour, what we all agree is that we need extra options upfront but not at a rip off, what’s the point paying so much for a player who won’t hit the ground running or who wud be swamped by the force of the english game, I understand all the fears but we must be sensible, there’s no need spending for the sake of it. I fully support AW move for suarez* which is prolly the 1st time I’m supporting him, it is a gamble to let higuain go but @ the end it was a sensible gamble. Players are needed and I assure u its being worked on.

  49. rico says:

I see the humour was lost – I do hope you are right Einstein and I will gladly eat humble pie as I’m dancing with joy over our new signings..

  50. rico says:

    10.38 Keith, totally agree….

Oscar – do tell how it is that you can ‘assure us’ that players are being worked on, as you put it??

rellends, a Santos or Park kind of signing better not come anywhere near our club, we still have one of them on our books. How many games did he play, 2? Poor guy probably wishes he’d never set foot on English soil…

The move to us ruined him…

  51. ktr7 says:

Good read rico.i don’t even feel like debating anymore because of the state the club is at.am not even excited for the season kickoff.i don’t even think wenger has a plan on what he wants to do.we have released 28 players and only brought in Sanogo and crowley.that is utter shambles and reeks of incompetence on the part of the management.i’ve had it with wenger…

  52. Bradster says:

Perhaps Wenger is in for that 29 y.o RB of Juve. 2 aged RB’s who could leave next season and Jenks comes back at 22-23 y.o and experienced a full PL season.

  53. Scott from Oz says:

    Suddenly nearly everyone is negative.
What changed from 24 or 48 hours ago?
Do people hack into your accounts?
Does your twin take over the keyboard 🙂
Gee guys, i might be dreaming, naive or delusional, but at least i am consistent.
Seriously, some attitudes change on a daily basis.
Over the last few days most have been saying Wenger has time…yes, he had better make the most of it, but he has time.
    Today, what has changed?
    I will tell you what.
A South American journo has stated Suarez might stay at Liverpool.
    That is it.
    That is all.
Nothing else but a person in a job hardly know for honesty from a part of the world hardly noted for reliability makes a omment and suddenly Gooners worldwide almost give the season up before it starts???
    Bloody hell.
Should i even watch this season?
    Guys…..YOU ALL LNOW BETTER!!

  54. tsgh says:

Its nearly 8 days since the swampies announced a deal to sign Capoue was close, still not finalised; there is still hope yet.

Marc Overmars refused to confirm which club had bid for Toby Alderweireld it sounds very much like an Arsenal way… and I prefer Toby to Gustavo, fingers crossed…

  55. devilgunner says:

    Oscar?????

Do I ever need to get off the stands and go down with the players???

Can you repeat that again please???? 😆 😆

I certainly do not know how a player and/or a coach feels.

But then I am just a mere supporter.

Can you kindly enlighten me how a player feels? It sounds as if you know more about the subject and can empathise with the team easily.

  56. Scott from Oz says:

Oh, and if not another player is signed, forgive me, but i still can not wait til the season starts.
    Go you good things 🙂

  57. vernat1066 says:

Morning, if Napoli are prepared to pay more than us then we need to look at how we run our business and there needs to be a dedicated transfer team in place who take the recommendations of the manager who then ceases to be involved in the process and goes forward and makes the deals. The clubs who have signed players this season so far and are our rivals all have director of football in place who makes the deals leaving the manager to manage.

Perhaps we are waiting to see if we qualify for the champions league before we buy which would be a dangerous game to play and one we have done before but I would like to see us be more flexible in our approach to players if we cant get Gustavo then lets get L Diarra from Anzi who we know can handle the league (personality aside he has the talent) williams from swansea and maybe Eriksen from Ajax to give us some creativity and Oscar Cardozo from Benfica to provide some fire power up front (105 goals in 160 games) maybe although at 30 maybe he is a little old but he and Giroud could rotate in the central striker role.

  58. tsgh says:

Come down Kt, I think the squad being cleared was a clear sign that we were cutting the’ fat’ and going to bring in at least 3 players who will improve the squad.

Out of the 28 players who have left only Gerv made any contribution to the squad with 7 goals in his 22 appearances but most fans did not want him anyways… Zelalem must be better than Garcia or Rodwell imho. Sanogo is definitely as good as Welbeck in my opinion…

We are not weaker than last season but on the other hand our rivals have strengthened…

  59. rico says:

    Thanks Kt..

    With custard please Einstein 🙂

It’s not negative Scott, it’s real, it’s happening. Or not as the case might be..

Ts – SS’s have Capoue to the totts as a done deal…

  60. keith says:

well said scott….tho any optimism would be seriously tested/challenged the closer we get to the new season

  61. Wavy says:

E=mc2 does that mean we are buying Macarthy from Wigan? Translation?
Eee (a northern expression) Mac a shortened version of Macarthy! Qed.
Einstein was agenius but he was all played out by the time he was 21. Sounds a lot like some of our “project youth”!
Though I like the optimism. Here’s hoping.

  62. rico says:

vernat, my own view is players should be signed to ensure we get into the CL proper. Waiting to see if we do is a very dangerous game as yu say…

  63. ktr7 says:

ts i’ll believe it when i see it.so far nothing is happening and i have no reason to believe that we have been so secretive with our business that one day we’ll wake up to be greeted by 4 excellent signings.at this stage clubs play hard ball since its too late in the window to find replacements.we’ll end up relying on Gnabry and Zelalem soon and that will be throwing them off the deep end.i can’t put into words how i feel about this whole summer sitiuation…

Eee? Not from my fcukng lips it isn’t Wavy.

Was it Einstein who said insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results? Possibly. Very Wengerish though.

  65. tsgh says:

JC is still available after La Viola pulled out from signing him due to his demands. Surely QPR will have to loan him on the last day to save paying over £80k to a player who does not want to play in the Championship…

  66. rico says:

£8.6 million Capoue signed for, if AW hasn’t got someone better in his plans, how/why did this player not be on his list.

A year ago, most on here said he’d be perfect and was better than M’Vila…

    Doesn’t make sense to me…

  67. southyorkshiregunner says:

There is a possibility; a real possibility, that we are waiting to turn over Fenerbache before we progress in the transfer market… It was the same a couple of years ago with Udinese.

  68. tsgh says:

Hi SyG, I said the same in May… the board are a bunch of spin masters, they will not commit over the odds until CL spot is in the bag…

    I still optimistic AW’s option A and B are still available….

  69. potter says:

Oh and Oscar if you spent less time on the bench with the players and took an overview from higher in the stands you might see that Walcott often goes missing especially defensively , Cazorla is good going forward but like most of our midfield leaves his full backs exposed which is a problem because that drags our deepest midfield player out of position which he is too slow to recover . This leaves Mert and Kos exposed with forwards running at them. Other than that the spirit is fine and we will overcome.,

  70. vernat1066 says:

I believe we need to make sure that not only we sign the right players but we put the right structure finally in place.

Manager identifies where the squad needs improvement

    Scouts identify possible players

Manager decides which of these are what he wants and steps away from the process

Transfer team makes bids and negotiates transfers

Why is this so difficult? As well as being a football club Arsenal is a Multi million pound business surely we can put proper process in place if any other business with this type of turnover was run without the structures to ensure it worked correctly it would result in the sacking of the board

  71. ktr7 says:

what irks me the most is that we had a very big opportunity this summer with all the clubs above us changing managers.it was the ideal time to strike since we are loaded.as the days go by it looks very likely we’ll have another mad trolley dash…
To be honest its reaching a stage where i really wouldn’t mind if Arsene doesn’t sign a new deal and leaves.its clear he has so much power at the club and he had no clear plan this summer.am tired of us battling for 4th year in year out and to hear him telling us its a trophy.

  72. southyorkshiregunner says:

That Capoue “thing” is a complete conundrum, Rico. £8.6M is cheap as chips for a quality defensive minded midfielder and any Frenchman would want to play for Arsenal under Wenger.
Then begs the question of why didn’t Wenger go for him?
Ginge – you spend 24/7 watching world football. Why weren’t we in for him?

  73. potter says:

“” if any other business with this type of turnover was run without the structures to ensure it worked correctly it would result in the sacking of the board “”

    Well there’s a thought.

  74. Happytab says:

All, I too am frustrated at the lack of activity, but what irks me more is the blatant disregard for the intelligence of the supporters. Two years ago we had to pre-qualify for the champions league and the moment we did the transfers began to happen (albeit pretty ropey ones), last year we were in and the transfers happened early. This year we have to wait to see if we get in and then we will buy players based on the income from the Champs League or the much smaller income from the Thursday Night cup. Talk of large amounts of money were leaked to sell Season Tickets but there was never any intention of buying before the qualifier. The persuit of Saurez was actually a very good way of looking like they are trying with no risk of actually having to spend any money. The club has a plan, even though it may have more flaws than the empire state building, but don’t treat us like we are stupid. That’s what gets my goat.

  75. tsgh says:

Rico, Capoue has not signed yet… according the spuddies site and BBC. It makes no difference to the point you make above at 11:14…

In fact ATh Madrid put in a late bid and the deal is reportedly on the blink…

What I am trying to say is that some deals take twists and turns…

  76. Oscar says:

U guys shud chill… Lol*Rico 🙂 I kno for a fact that 2 new signings will be made, u guys just wait and see
If OZ can remeber I was very bitter a while ago but it changed after I had a coversation with a few of the club officials and players.. Its gonna be fine… *i hope* lol. We have a thin but really good squad we must support them & our tricky manager, ppl compelled him to make a few terrible signings in the past, I doubt it’ll happen again, its nice to see passion among the fans#top gunners

  77. devilgunner says:

Capoue and Gustavo would not have improved our team. They would have sent it three to four notches upwards. Both can play DM and both can play CB.

If the spuddies got Capoue for just 8.6million then AW is going crackers.

  78. tsgh says:

Syg, Emma is the Ligue 1 expert on here especially Capoue. lol

All I know is that he is not the best on the ball, but very good defensively so…. on the other hand Sadran confirmed we bid for him in January so I have no reason why.

He was not voted into the Ligue team of the season Josuha Guilavogui was an there were reports a £7M bid was rejected from us so…

  79. Scott from Oz says:

Guys, i am not questioning anyones right to be negative, just asking why for several days the one has been positive, yet due to a dodgy journo from a dodgy part of the world, so many have changed tune.
100, 1000 sources say Suarez wants out, so please explain why people choose the singe source that says he may stay?
    Anyone?

  80. tsgh says:

It will be a huge betrayal to Capoue if we showed no interest since the boy turned down Psg of all people last Jnaury and this summer Monaco expecting to move to the Erms…

  81. vernat1066 says:

Is it any coincidence that two of the most successful managers in recent times Mourinho and Guardiola are not involved in making deals they identify what they want agree with the board targets and then step away and concentrate on coaching and managing which is what they are paid to do.

It is time that this was implemented at Arsenal and should be a condition of a new contract for the manager, the board should not dictate who the manager gets as players the manager knows football that is why he was hired but the manager also should not dictate to the board how much they pay in transfer fees and wages that is not his job its the boards.

We seem to pay a lot of people right now who are not doing there job, scouts identify players and the manager decides on which ones he wants to target and then leaves it up to the board. If we did this then we could see where the process breaks down and then we would be able to stop saying its Arsene’s fault, its Kroenke’s fault its Gazidis fault and fix it so we can move forward. Rant over.

  82. rico says:

I don’t get it at all Syg, Arteta can’t play an entire season, the last two he has suffered injury in the final stage of the season I think. That says a lot…

I like that thought Potter. Where is AU, he could make that happen…

Scott, I’m really picking over the word negative, I don’t see myself as being negative, just seeing things for what they are.

20 days left in a summer transfer window and we haven’t signed a single player who will make a difference to our first team..

Hadn’t we signed Podolski, Santi and Giroud by now last summer?

And that was without the promised made to us all, unlike this time….

  83. tsgh says:

Only 2 players have moved this summer to any club that I would have loved; Medel and Negredo, the rest well…

I think Emma rates Joshua too, there is also Jeremy Clement…

  84. southyorkshiregunner says:

    Fckng Song.
Nil accountability, lazy git and a guy who is in business for himself.
I’d rather have Sol’s recently pictured (on here by Ginge) rent boy Frimpng flexing his pec’s in the midfield than Song. And Frimpng’s another who’ll be shown the exit door shortly. Possibly Ipswich.

  85. Scott from Oz says:

    Fair enough Rico.
My question remains though…why was everything upbeat and cheerful, but due to a journos report…an unsubstantiated one….everyone is “realistic”.
I am not suggesting what is right or wrong, but why is everyone suddenly turned based on this?
    Weird.

  86. southyorkshiregunner says:

…. On 7 August 2012, it was officially announced that Cazorla had signed a long-term deal with Arsenal…. 7 days, Rico

  87. Asiangooner says:

Hi Rico, KT, Brad, TS Wavy Einstein and fellow gooners

I really admire the optimism of Oscar and Einstein but I really doubt we had any plan regarding transfers…….. f**k Plan A and B.

Suarez is going to take time but why havnt we bought a keeper, a DM and a CB surely everyone knows we need to strengthen these areas. The worrying thing is that the rumours are drying up as well and as far as moral is concerned a couple of bad results (God Forbid) and that would go down the drain……. moral is necessary but it cant win you leagues.

Fingers crossed but this is one season I am really not looking forward to now especially if things remain like this

  88. rico says:

According to the leak which came out of the club, it was the board who insisted that we make a £40 million bid for Suarez. Arsene however was very against it.

Totally agree, AW’s part should be by handing those who negotiate/seal () deals, a list of players he wants.

With back ups if his targets aren’t willing or able to sign for us..

It all seems quite simple really, just not for Arsenal…

  89. tsgh says:

😀 I knew that name will get Syg ranting.

There are still some very good DM available; Toulalons ex-team mate Camacho is still at Malaga. The pundits are not raving about him because he was a sub mostly in the Spain u-21 squad even though he played more games than Asier and Thiago…

  90. S2S says:

    Hey Rico,

Before I read this I just read everything @ Arsenal is done in style. Well, that must be good ol’ days lol.

Idk whether to feel happy or not since I did not want Suarez from the beginning. But then I just hope there is at least glimmer of hope for all the gooners out there.

Now, I trust your judgement Ts, and hope Martinez is good striker and we’re trying for him. If nothing then I hope Arsene uses his connection with Sheikhs and at least get us Kun Agguero from City even if he costs 35M cause I think he’s worth it.

The only 2 strikers I think I have on my mind are Kun Agguero and Jackson Martinez that’s all. I am not yet into total disaster mode but just a bit disappointed.

But I still see silver lining in all these.

  91. ozgunner says:

Hello all – Rico what did I say to you many weeks back about this window? Panic buys are about to take place!

  92. vernat1066 says:

Scott I am not annoyed by the article on Suarez who although a superb footballer I don’t want to sign as there are too many issues that come with him and the process of signing him.

My issue is that the whole process of signing players and the accountability of who does what is fundamentally broken at Arsenal and has been for too long.

We need to have a clear delineation of who does what job and then leave them to do it if they cant perform fire them and get some one else right now we don’t know where the process is broken so we cant fix it. If there is not a clear plan laid out with how we will achieve this and who is responsible for what part then we will not achieve what we aim for as people will not be concentrating on performing there job (clearly defined with the responsibilities) 100 % and in a league where we compete with clubs with more resources we cannot afford to be less than 100 % to compete and win.

  93. southyorkshiregunner says:

someone said the other day A-gooner, re Wages.

    Six decent players averaging £100,000 p/w over 2 months = £4.8M.

£4.8M is a lot of money in wages to shell out to play exhibition matches.

Maybe post Fenerbache we’ll have a better idea of what the club are doing.

  94. tsgh says:

Interesting leak Rico; so do you think AW failed to show ambition or he was being sensible…

I think WATH also mentioned the board and AW were at loggerheads over Bony…

  95. Scott from Oz says:

Vernat, the main problem i see with the club is that Wenger has too much power.
I do not blame him as most do for this situation.
I blame those with the power and responsibility that did not want it, and passed it on to the manager.
Stan and the board run the show, yet leave it to Wenger to actually run the show.

  96. tsgh says:

Nigel Winterburn confirmed on Talkshite that he knew for a fact that AW did not set recruit price paid but that does not fit with the anti-AW agenda so was discarded.

Tom Fox and Dickie Law get paid a lot for something I and most on here would love to do for 100k a year… they fail big time.

  97. rico says:

I knew someone would suggest Alex Song, and 99% of me thought it would be you Ts… 😉

There you go Syg, we were all done and dusted this time last summer.

What goes on at Arsenal beggars belief…

  98. tsgh says:

Scott like you I find it hard to believe that the fortunes of such a big football club with millions of supporters can be held ransom to one man…

  99. Scott from Oz says:

Ginge, it is the owner and board passing the buck, making a fortune and handing the fans a scapegoat all in one move.
    It is a fucking joke.
More Gooners should recognise it, imo.
Do not blame the man with the power, blame those that were happy not to take it.
    Just my opinion.

  100. tsgh says:

S2s, strikers are very high commodity at the moment… its like plutonium in Iran…

I always thought we should have gone for Benteke and leave all this marquee rubbish aside… as I always say the Galaticos and the Barca 90’s teams failed because of the hunt for the biggest names…

  101. ozgunner says:

If these so called business minds put all their eggs in one basket on the word of a football agent alone, they need moving on. To many of these ‘we missed out stories’ over the years. Sales talk sales talk, and still the believers follow. We have stood still on excuses for years, we watched others add to their folds, while we make stupid comments about doing things right and being nice… ffs

  102. vernat1066 says:

The issue here is no one can say who is in charge, at Real Madrid you can say who is in charge of signings, the same at Bayern Munich, AC Milan, Juventus, Barcelona, Chelsea, Man City even Spurs there is a clear chain of command at Arsenal who is in charge AW ? IG ? SK ??

Not good enough and before a new contract is signed by any manager this has to be sorted out and made transparent so the person who is under performing in his or her job can be identified and either told to improve or sacked and a better replacement brought in.

  103. tsgh says:

Scott, I think Rednose was doing us a big favour when he informed the world he dealt with AW when it came to buying Judas…

If I was a share holder I would be asking why the CEO was not well equipped to deal with selling a player but that a exactly a year ago, AW had to do his best for the club to get the best deal.

Why was it AW who insisted that clauses were put in Bentley, Vela and CF04’s deals when we have negotiators…

  104. tsgh says:

V1066, Fox and Law are in charge of contracts. But they live in the states… that was one reason why TW14’s deal took so long….

  105. Scott from Oz says:

Asiangooner, if you read my original post it asks why everyone has been positive for the last few days yet everything has turned based on one report.
It has nothing do with what you suggest.

  106. ktr7 says:

ts Gazidis earlier on this summer said Wenger determines valuation of players and the wages paid.Ornstein also said the same thing.this shows Wenger has too much power because its clear he is responsible for everything from pointing out players to the contract negotiations.maybe he even takes the photos for all we know but that shouldn’t be the case.even red nose only gave a list of the players he wanted and he let Gill do the rest.if he didn’t want us to bid £40 mil for suarez and that it was the board it shows he is very much the problem.after all the fuss suarez has kicked up at pool if we don’t make a final bid of up to £50 mil then we did not try to sign him.if suarez ends up staying it will not be because of their fans;it will be the realisation that we were never going to pay up what pool are asking.

  107. vernat1066 says:

If Fox and Law are the weak link here and are not getting the job done then get rid of them and get people in who can perform

  108. Scott from Oz says:

Ginge, plenty..most, in fact…will argue, but Wenger is the only competent one among the bastards!!
He is the tail wagging the dog.

  109. rico says:

Ts, I think you know my answer re Suarez…. If that player isn’t worth £40 million – I don’t know who is..

In a crazy footballing world of money of course

  110. Scott from Oz says:

Oz, there is truly something wrong with the world if dong things with class and morals is wrong.
Sorry, but i believe there is a lot to be said for class and morals.

  111. Wavy says:

Rico, if what you posted re Wenger not wanting Suarez and was at loggerheads with the Board, perhaps the Board have given him a list of players ‘they’ want! The list may not conform to Wenger’s plan a or B or even Z so he is putting his foot down with a heavy hand and vetoing all their suggestions maybe out of stubborn spite! It has been stated hundreds of times before how difficult he can be when he feels he has been insulted or ignored. He never forgets and he never forgives!
A fall out with the Board is possible, and it may explain the lack of activity. Then again……….

  112. tsgh says:

Every manager determines value of a player just like a manager identifies targets…

Rednose always determined salaries and then Gill trusted his judgement. The buck stops at IG, Fox and Law.

I think you are very wrong to say Rednose just gives the list; he travelled to Dortmond to meet with Kagawa last summer and he was keen to buy Moura with all his kitty in order to retire on a high note. Its about trust between board and manager.

If a engineer writes a report and a senior engineer signs and approve the report who takes responsibilities for its QA?

  113. Scott from Oz says:

These theories show what is wrong with the club.
The board have not got the balls to tell Wenger what to do or how much to spend, yet hang him out to dry when things go wrong??

  114. tsgh says:

So Rico, if that is the case why are the board not increasing the bid to £55M?

Or is it AW holding it back as most of you say?

  115. Messi says:

Oscar 10:25, shame on you for the comparison with United, I hate the fact that Arsenal fans think they can compare us to United! Clowns! They have world class players in nearly every single position. What about us? Apart from Cazorla nobody else is worth mentioning that can give opponents a scare. Plus you forget that they are MANCHESTER UNITED!!! They finished on the same points as City and only lost the title in the last game of the season of the last second due to luck and goal difference the season before. BY THE WAY with no Vidic, an unconvincing De Gea, a makeshift back four and no creative midfielder and no 30 goal striker! Then what does Fergie do in revenge and anger, HE PERSONALLY CALLS WENGER and tells him I want your striker to win the league as I’m retiring and need to go out with a bang! Then our so called ‘le prof’ bows down like a slave and honours him his request! Then Wenger comes out with mid season and brags “oh I knew Fergie was leaving”, of course you did you fcuking wimp – he told you that before slapping you with his d*ck!
Do you think that Fergie will ever allow that to happen with us to Rooney?! (Ronaldo was the exception to Madrid, it was his dream, won Fergie titles, worked his socks off and Madrid are the biggest club in the world).
Now on to the usual summer, we have a whole board and manager who do not want to go out of their comfort zone and strengthen the squad and win trophies, they’d rather sell the fans a dream then feed their bellies even more. That is the true definition of a dictatorship, and we have fans who are perfect for them, sheeps, unchallenging and keep falling for the same excuses year in year our.
They all somehow believe in this midst of trophies drought blur that FFP will benefit them, well City won the league, changed their kit sponsor to Nike along with changing their stadium naming rights to beat FFP. So what does that show you all?
We’ve released so many players this summer from our wage bill early in the window, yet have leaved it again for the umpteenth time to the last weeks. Why? Because they want to haggle on fees only to lose on quality players like Mata, Hazard, Higuain etc, summer after summer, then resort to the Chamakh’s, Gervinho’s, Squillaci’s of this world. I had been a long admirer of Wenger, but that stopped the summer we sold Nasri, Cesc and Clichy (when all we needed were three extra squad players). It’s so evident we need an experienced goal keeper as both Szsz and Fabianski are shambles, yet he doesn’t want to bring in a keeper, Vermaelen is injured and will probably return around November or even December if you look at past setbacks and treatments with our players. He’s sold Gervinho and hasn’t replaced him yet, all of this with the international friendlies this week and our biggest two weeks ahead of us. What’s he gonna do, resort to last minute shopping like two seasons ago. We need a keeper, a centre back, a defensive midfielder and a striker if we really want to compete, if we don’t bring those players in Wenger and the whole board need to leave in May. This club is the biggest joke in football, celebrating like the invincibles after securing top four, disgusting, disgraceful and embarrassing. Enough is enough. We all need to protest and demand, and if we still don’t get accepted then cancel the season tickets and stop coming to the games, just watch it online or tv, that’s the only way they will change their ways! Revolution shows throughout history that changes can be done when the people come together and demand peacefully!

  116. Asiangooner says:

Scott what i meant to say is that the atmosphere here hasnt changed just in one day….. everyone was positive a couple of weeks ago but since the deadline is drawing closer and still there arent any signings its only natural that a little negativity is creeping in and people are asking questions.

Not everyone is as optimistic as you are but your suggestion that this negativity (which i believe is not the right term anyway) is because of just one rumour of suarez.

I believe me rico kt wath and everyone is simply asking questions that why havent we strengthened any area in the squad so far

  117. vernat1066 says:

I think the board use AW and his valuations as a cop out if he said i want player A and he is worth 16 million and 80,000 a week and we signed him for 18 million and paid 90.000 would AW really care if he got the player he wanted and was performing? Do they think he would walk away or something?

If IG and SK wont use some initiative and step beyond when necessary then the issue is with their lack of leadership

  118. ozgunner says:

Scott – board hang him out to dry??? Since when have they done anything else but cover his miserly ass?

  119. Scott from Oz says:

    Asiang, that is wrong.
I am on here every bloody day so do not tell me the general mood has not changed that quickly because it has.
    Geez……
Some people have not changed, but overall it has.

  120. rico says:

Scott – the board are in no way blame free, they are gutless, spineless old farts who should be telling AW to sign players or face the consequences….

They all play their guilty part…

  121. Asiangooner says:

i disagree scott as i have been coming here regularly and i bet rico has been like this for a few days now and so is KT.

  122. potter says:

When George Graham was dismissed the board put out a statement saying that no Arsenal manager would be solely responsible for negotiating player sales and dealing with Agents on player purchases.
If this still rings true then Wenger is not the sole arbiter and we have to look elsewhere to apportion any blame.

  123. Scott from Oz says:

Oz, i know you hate Wenger, but be serious.
PHW….we have plenty to spend……followed by Wenger telling us he needs to make a 20 million profit on transfers.
Gazidis…..we have plenty to spend before leaving Wenger to cop your criticism on why we are outbid on players after Gazidis has old the bloody world we are flush with cash.
What would you suggest these actions do?
The board love him because he does their job for them, and at the same time cops the abuse on behalf of them put of love for the club.
Sorry, but it is too easy to see the obvious and blame the obvious…Wenger is the obvious.

  124. vernat1066 says:

If we are going to spend £55 + million then lets get three of four good players in to improve the depth of the squad a centre half, a striker a midfielder and a utility player who can cover several positions.

Surely we can improve by buying say three players at £15 million and one at £20 million which are deals we can do and sustain wage wise and revenue wise.

If we buy Suarez he will never be worth more than £55 million and he wont stay at the club until he retires what he will do is what he did at Ajax and now Liverpool and agitate for a move and behave badly enough to get it which means we will take a 20 or 25 million pound loss on him in two seasons.

  125. ktr7 says:

When Mourinho gave his 1st interview at chelsea after he was appointed he praised Wenger.he must be glad that he is still here necause that is one less club to worry about in the title race.

What Wenger has done for us is immense.now we have a strong core of players and a fortune sitting in the bank that could take us to the next level.however,Wenger is doing nothing to make me believe he is the man to take us to the next level.to not have even bought even 1 player after all our struggles last season is pure negligence.not even a back up CB?…is it really that hard to buy players?…thats a load of bull and we know it.the management has cocked up this window so bad and i can see us having a mad trolley dash on deadline day collecting low hanging fruit just to make up the numbers.

  126. rico says:

The clock is ticking Scott, as each day goes by, fans are going to get more and more restless….

I feel sorry for the players so much, all summer they have been positive, excited about a few new faces in the squad..

Their mood is probably changing… They all thought the’d be well equipped to finally win something for each other and the fans…

As it stands, it’s pressure from the off….

  127. Scott from Oz says:

Rico, not once have i suggested Wenger is doing the right thing in not signing players.
My argument has nothing to do with that.

  128. ozgunner says:

He’s paid a kings ransom to take this club forward Scott – He’s standing still end of in my opinion and yes I dislike him with a passion – the apathy we see in this club, the no Plan B approach to life, the continuous stupid references to players future abilities, the lies e.g. RVP, the constant back tracking on promises and predictions – well over rated in my opinion, yes.

  129. tomstoned says:

its easy really !!…we are run like an american franchise and we are a selling club,…even this summer we have made quite a nice profit :)well done !
reason why we maybe will add a couple of players late in the window=qualify for champions league -like we do every year, that have been and still is Arsenal’s way !
every crime has a time line and the killing of Our Beloved Arsenal started in 07.
im not upset anymore, its like this i like a good burger, once in a while..knowing that Arsenal now are nothing more than an Amreican franchise just like mcdonalds,i can enjoy a good game know and then…the secret is just accepting that we’re not really a football club anymore..we’re in the money business and i actually feel quite good, knowing that we’re filling the hollywood hooker kroenke pockets..and i love the lies from nazidis…he’s good at it 🙂
have a great season all Gooners..c’mon lets make some money !!

  130. rico says:

Asian, try a few years. Sick of it to be honest.

Potter, I have a feeling, only my own of view of course, that all that went out of the window the day DD left.

AW took on many more responsibilities after DD left, ones which have stayed with him because the board didn’t have the balls to tell him that he didn’t need to do them any more..

  131. ktr7 says:

True AsianG.i said from the beginning i had my reservations of whether we would spend big as Gazidis said.rico too had her reservations but we hoped to be proved wrong.unfortunately it seems we may have been right all along.it was just all hot air from the smooth talking suit.i can’t take another season of watching us struggle with all the strong foundations we have in place to really push us onto the next level.

  132. Asiangooner says:

I sure am scott 😉 but I agree when you say its not AW alone……. I dont get to see so many news as i am not in UK but i also thinks AW gets the stick for Board, IG and SK.

It cant be just him…. I think he is just the face of the things and gets all the blame

  133. Scott from Oz says:

Oz, Wenger stood by Ramsey when nearly everyone else suggested he was shit.
He was right AGAIN when it came to a players future ability.
If we had sold him, like most suggested we should and he performed as he has of late, it would all have been Wengers fault.
Plenty have suddenly started praising Ramsey, but not many applaud Wenger or keeping him.
    Tell me i am wrong.
    Tell me Arsene was right.

  134. emma says:

We should all calm down it’s not like the transfer window is closed. I still believe we will make at least 3 signings *COUGH*. We have a core of players who can take on anyone. Lets just hope that the squad have a healthy season like last. It’s not like we’ve lost anyone who has contributed meaningfully to our top4 finish last season. Still got 19 days to put things right

  135. Scott from Oz says:

Asiang, i am a Wenger fan, but admit he gets plenty wrong.
The arseholes above him make no mistakes because they make no decisions 🙂

  136. Scott from Oz says:

Tomstoned, our”beloved” Deins that so many want back let Stan in the front door.
    Explain that one 🙂

  137. ozgunner says:

On Ramsey he may prove right in that he is one of the better ones at present – compared to what Scott? If i start the list of bad buys and stupid predictions from Wenger I would bring down the site its that long – I respect your faith in the man, I have never agreed with it as you know mate

  138. ktr7 says:

I wish Kroenke would sell us immediately.as much as we hate sugar daddies i’ve really admired Roman Abramovich.he really cares about the team and football.i read an article that he has an app installed in his ipad whereby he personally tracks scouting reports of players chelsea are scouting all over the world.he demands weekly updates and he takes his time to go through the reports before sanctioning a move for a player.he is that passionate about football.i doubt kroenke even knows all of our players by name.

  139. tomstoned says:

and i got information for ya all…self sustainable means just that.and it dont differ even if you have a few quids in your pocket…c’mon be real…

  140. Scott from Oz says:

Oz, i just gave a simple example.
Name one single manager that hasn’t had just as many shit buys, and, as EVERYONE reminds us, paid a lot more for them.

  141. Oscar says:

Sad people especially Rico, wish I cud invite u for a pint l8r today but I’m gonna be at the docklands attending to somtn… Uhm and devilgooner the plans feel fine & up for it this season. There’s a little worry abt the suarez tale but its fine generally. I really love the team Rico and I’m not ashamed to say it + o blv in them. This season is gonna be great, all this chirping & negativity aint helping 1 bit, AW & the board understand the need for extra options up front, the middle is ok, the back is fair, any other signing shud be @ the back and keeper positions, now its sad when a club doesn’t get their man but its much more painful when they try & lose out, arsenal has really tried in the suarez saga, but all is not lost. The totts and manure can’t beat arsenal this season bsaed on their current squad strength. Guys look closely@ the team & stop howling abt issues that are being handled and giving up before it is over!!!. Where’s the gunner spirit, if the players have it then the fans must back them…

  142. Scott from Oz says:

Oscar, i am the most positive bastard here and can not agree with you on squad strength.
    That is a joke.
Our best 11 is equal to any, but the next 11?
Do we even have a next 11?

  143. Scott from Oz says:

Oz, where did i suggest they were trophy less??
Do not put words into my mouth.
Fergie himself has paid enough to break our transfer record for guys that barely played first team football!!!

  144. devilgunner says:

Now you all know that I do not like Suarez. Not even if he came for free.

Yes I know that many players have baggages, but Suarez is one of the slimiest.

So, my friend Scott its not the comment that Suarez will stay at the dippers which has made me angry.

Its the fact that we all know that the squad needs strengthening in all departments and the club has done sweet FA about it which irritates me.

Does the fact that we are not yet in the CL proper irritate me? No it does not, since I feel that AW should not aim for the CL but rather EPL domination. I dont give a shit about his obsession of the CL but, I do hope that he never wins it unless he realises that the fans would like it yes, but at the end of the day all they want is to finish first, yes bloody fekking FIRST in the EPL. For all their domination since AF took over, Manure only won it twice in his 26 year reign. SAF was wise enough to realise that to keep the fans on his side he had to dominate the English scene first and foremost. CL came second.

Does the fact that if the club sign the players late in the TW the club would have saved 4.8million in wages, cut any ice? No. imo it does not, because preseason would have enabled the players to bed in and get used to each other.

Yes, the club has cleared the deadwood. Does this mean that players will come in? yes, if and only if AW and the club get their head out of the Suarez basket first. And bdw, AW will only sign players who will beef up the squad. Rooney, Higuain, Suarez, Cesc?? its laughable really. Yes I would like to see Shrek and Cesc at the club. MAybe even Gustavo and Williams. That is an entire spine. And all of them would improve the entire club, not the team mind you, but the whole fekking club.

Yes players will come. But I am afraid Rico…..it will be the Santos, PArk and Gervinho type.

  145. potter says:

Don’t pity us Oscar , just because we see things differently, Come back at the end of the season and see who is right.

Should give you time to get your spelling sorted out.

  146. Scott from Oz says:

I know where the frustration comes from Rico.
It just shocks me that the vibe changes so quickly.
The overall opinions do not, but the feel does.

  147. ozgunner says:

you need to go to United spread sheets Scott – I never said you said they were trophy less, what i asked was all those who wasted funds and won nothing are where now?? Fergie had Wenger in his pocket and the final insult was RVP.

  148. rico says:

Kt, I actually believed and still do believe what IG said was true and what he expected to happen – either that of he has a cunning plan up his sleeve 😉

  149. Scott from Oz says:

Devil, again, i never suggested the club or Wenger has done a good job this window.
All i said was that for days the general feeling here has been positive and the only thing that has happened is a journo from South America making a claim with no proof…..everyone has latched on to it.

  150. tomstoned says:

    Scott from Oz mate

not sure i can ;)..but Dein was pushed out ? and one could argue that after he left its been a downhill struggle…ambition wise that is financially its been booming..:)..being an American franchise has its ups…
and mate im not expecting you to share my opinions, but remember its just that my opinions

  151. ozgunner says:

spot on Devil, many will read that nodding their heads as I did and in NEVER CHANGES is what really pees me off.

  152. Scott from Oz says:

Wenger was deadset against selling RVP, so your point is null and void.
    Fergie wasted a shit load.
The difference was while he ought crap, he also bought massive names in and the failures were forgotten.
    That is the difference.
When Wenger buys an 8 million pound failure, he does not have a 25 million sensation to divert the attention.

  153. rico says:

I think it’s quite good too have debate about our club.

You just about escaped the bin emma by using something different 😉 Wath didn’t – I think he’s still in the bin now….

  154. Asiangooner says:

    Hi Emma

You always have some nice rumours and they cheer me up although i know they are only rumours 🙂 I desperately need some today. So suarez putting in a performace today!!! I wonder if it is for us to up our bid or to win back fans at LP

KT be careful what you wish for……… are you serious about RA!!! I wouldn’t want him near our arsenal mate

  155. devilgunner says:

I did not latch onto it Scott. Honest. I saw it from the comments after I posted my first comment. Then after it broke out here I went on NN. Its more of the fact that Perez was denied a WP that upset me a bit. The lad would have been a tremendous PIVOTE for us. He would have allowed us to play 4-1-4-1 or 4-1-2-3 and would have complemented both Aaron and Jack plus Cazorla.

but what upset me most is the fact that the club is being negligent regarding various positions.

And I am sorry Oscar. But one of the pillars of HH is that we feel free to agree that we disagree without ridiculing anyone or calling anyone names or saying that someone’s name is funny. You have your own ideas and we respect them even though we may not agree. But we expect it back.

And I am not sad mate.

  156. potter says:

Not petty Oscar, those of us with slight disability find it difficult to read text speak that’s why we have vowels in the first place. I know it takes you longer but it isn’t that hard really. Not as If you are paying by the digit.

  157. Scott from Oz says:

Devil, the Perez situation again shows why Wenger should have nothing to do with anything other than naming payers he likes.
    Wellington Silva.
    Joel Campbell.
    Several others.
Wenger has enough on his plate and these things slip through to the keeper.
Time for the grubs above him to lead the way.

  158. vernat1066 says:

In the end I believe it boils down to one inescapable fact the board is to blame. If they have allowed themselves to be dictated to by the manager to the point where they take his word as law and wont pay more than he says they are to blame for abdicating responsibility.

If they are in charge of the transfers and say what to pay and don’t sign payers they are to blame for not doing the job correctly.

In the end AW is not to blame its the Board whatever way you cut it.

  159. rico says:

Oscar – I don’t give a toot about manures first eleven let alone their second. Arsenal are all that matters and we have a very fragile looking squad. If you really can’t see that then fine….. Specsavers have a two for one offer on at present….

  160. ktr7 says:

Asian either way we are going to be owned by a billionaire soon enough.Kroenke is just fattening the cow before selling it.i’d rather we were owned by someone who really cares about football and the club not only the money.as much as we hate Roman he is one of the few sugar daddies that is very keen on football.

  161. potter says:

Dein introduced Kroenke to the board because he believed that we would need backing whilst the stadium build was taking it’s toll. He was right .
Hill wood and Fiszman then refused to deal with Stan and got Dein out of the club.
Then did a U-Turn when they thought they could make bucket loads but didn’t put in the safeguards that Dein probably would.

  162. Asiangooner says:

Hey guys I know some of us have said earlier today that maybe we are waiting for CL qualification before we actually buy….. I wasnt really convinced about it earlier as i believe this is very very risky and stupid thing to do but I have been thinking and am quite convinced now that it might have been the reason

Last year we did all our signings early because we finished 3rd and were guaranteed CL so we knew we would get 35M for playing in it (I think this is the right amount) the year before we bought late after our qualification and this year i think it would be the same……… if we qualify we will finish of our deals if not we wont.

But if this is true than I think its purely a decision of business rather than footbal ambitions and if thats the case than I think it might not be wenger it might be the board, SK and IG who are playing this game of wait and see

  163. devilgunner says:

If there are two things in the world that I hate, and I say things not persons, they are an AKB and an AWH. I prefer to see things clearly and how they should be instead of siding with one side or the other.

  164. Oscar says:

Well potter chap, sorry abt ur disability but u must understand that ppl type these msgs on the go; walking or doing other stuff, its really not nice to pick on ppl cos they have diff opinions, its just bad. Anyway I really blv things wud be different this season.

  165. devilgunner says:

Asian Gooner, if we bought wisely and early and had a good squad to start the season with then being in the CL or not would not have made any difference.

Arsenal have only two opponents in the EPL. One is the Chavs under Mourinho.

    The other is THEMSELVES.

Sorry but Manure and shitty will have been fighting it out with the spuddies for 3rd and 4th if we had spent wisely.

  166. rico says:

We’ll always have some fans blaming Wenger

    Some the board/owner

    Some blame all….

Wenger couldn’t ruin this club on his own, and for every rubbish player he has signed and kept and persisted with, there is always someone, or some people above him who let him carry on the way he does.

Which is why I wish the whole darn lot of them would leave…. Let an owner with great ambition come in and bring with him a board and manager who share that same ambition….

  167. devilgunner says:

Oscar, by any chance why didn’t you look in the mirror when you said the following………”its really not nice to pick on ppl cos they have diff opinions”

you know, there is a saying………the whore can only give you from what she has.

  168. ktr7 says:

Also why does Wenger think he can dictate the market price?…its clear that there is more cash than the amount of top class players so there is bound to be inflation of prices.in this market you are going to have to pay over the top to get that quality player you need.last summer Bayern had to pay over the odds for Martinez and the rest is history.if we really want Suarez we are going to have to reach that £50 mil mark.it doesn’t matter how wrong wenger may feel and frankly the board should tell him to sit this one out.

  169. Scott from Oz says:

    Agree with that Devil.
We had every opportunity to set ourselves up as proper contenders.
We still have that chance, but it is much, much more difficult now.
There is no excuse for having one player in.

  170. Scott from Oz says:

KT, i think he sets his price, but stupid comments from PHW and Gazidis telling the world we have plenty to spend blows his opinion out of the water.
    Amateur hour.

  171. rico says:

Oscar, are you for real? If you are here purely to have a laugh at others expense then it doesn’t work that way…

Your comments are hard to read..

So much so, I won’t even bother trying to…

  172. Asiangooner says:

Hmmmm now that you have mentioned it Rico…. I say why not Usmanov 😉 even if we wont win anything the transfer windows will be a lot less stressing! hey….. (ahhh atleast we can hope that)

KT you are right we need someone with the ambition. Plus i really dont like SK just looking at him I can see the man is selfish!!! must be the wig i think

  173. emma says:

The source of this suarez ‘staying’ put with LFC is from a journo Martin charquero. I thought it was a quote from suarez. Until we hear from the horses mouth it’s still speculation/rumour.

  174. vernat1066 says:

Looking at the players we do have and given Ramsey’s end to the season maybe he can mature into a player like Parlour? never the fastest, most skilful but on the pitch 100 % effort and commitment to the team. Below 10 of the Romford Pele’s best

  175. ktr7 says:

I agree with you rico.which is why i wish we had a boaed similar to Bayern.they have former players like Sammer,Karl H Ruminegge and Uli Hoeness running things.they don’t entertain mediocrity and are very involved with the team.them.letting go of Heynckes was a bold move but they felt the club needed fresh ideas and they went for Guardiola as a result.

I would love Wenger to reap the rewards of what he has built but unfortunately he is showing signs of growing stale.we need fresh ideas in there.we need to take that leap of faith.if he doesn’t bolster this window to make us at least challenge do not offer him a new contract.let Usmanov buy out the club and lets have a fresh start.

  176. Scott from Oz says:

At the end of the day, what can we do but get behind the boys?
We can not change the owner, nor the manager.
If Wenger does NOT make signings, he had better perform some miracles, above and beyond anything he has done before.
If he does not make signings after, for the first time, himself saying the money is there, then there is absolutely no excuse for us not to be competing at the absolute top end of the League.

  177. ozgunner says:

I agree with that emma – and I agree with Scott surely he has to leave now but to Arsenal? Do i have the faith in this lot ability to pull a class act like this guy? No I don’t.

  178. devilgunner says:

Oscar……if you have a problem with your browser it will surely not let you type one coherent sentence.

I think that the problem lies in the grey matter between the drums.

  179. Scott from Oz says:

Haha Oz, my opinion on that has not changed mate.
I have been saying that for few months.
You have missed my best work 🙂

  180. Asiangooner says:

Scott i really dont know I am begining to doubt that we have 70M

and DG i totally agree mate I am only saying that it seems to me now that this is how we buy……… I am definitely not saying this is how we should. I strongly believe that we should buy wisely and agree if we would have done that early this season it would have helped the team a great deal, players would have gelled really well CL qualification would have been a lot easier and we could have start the league with all engines blowing……….. but this is just us. The people who are responsible to make decisions at arsenal definitely think otherwise

  181. rico says:

And we will Scott when the season starts and now we’ve had a clear out, there’s no-one left to moan about ….

But I’m very angry about our lack of action this window…

  182. W.A.T.H says:

    Night Scott….

Oscar, do you know a fella called Malaga Gooner… you share the same views…! Very interesting indeed and very hilarious.

  183. emma says:

We still got 19days to the end of the transfer window. I believe this lads can do a good job in the next 5(3EPL & 2CL) matches before the window closes. At least we should have 9pts on the board and have qualified for the CL group phase before the international break

  184. W.A.T.H says:

Kt, that tweet from from the same journo that also tweeted 3 weeks ago Suarez to AFC is a done deal so make of that what you will..!

  185. devilgunner says:

Rico…you said it. When the season starts and now we have had the clear out we will not have anyone to moan about.

Only AW and the BOARD remain to moan about.

If no new players who can improve the team are bought in by the end of the TW expect the atmosphere to be very hostile.

  186. emma says:

But that shouldn’t stop us from getting other deals done. I believe we will wait on him till next week and if no way then activate Plan B

  187. ktr7 says:

This suarez stuff seems like it may go on for a while….however as emma says we should’ve bought other players 1st.if we do not get him by the end of this week we should switch targets because it would be painful to lose out on him on deadline day with no time left to line up a replacement.

  188. Bradster says:

Shew that was some fiery comments. PMS, Pre Match Stress. My problem with last minute buys are that world class is not for sale then.
Big monies in the bank do not win matches for the selling team.

I’m still hoping we activate Kondogbia’s 8.5m release clause

  189. rico says:

Emotions are high Bradster, blame the board and manager 😉

I’m off for an hour or so, shopping and woofa walking, later folks….

  190. vernat1066 says:

    Atsuto Uchida

  191. Bradster says:

I guess that means Jenks is going if that’s 2 RB rumours today. Unless it’s journos creating one from the other.

  192. Oscar says:

You won’t believe I’ve been battling with my browser all day because I thought it was the reason my posts were difficult to read lol, it just so happens that it was actually because I was using a lot of informal spellings like abt for about, hapn for happen etc, sorry guys *Porter my man so sorry abt calling u petty* actually learned to write that way overseas lol… Anyway have a nice 1 folks

  193. ktr7 says:

    Luis Suarez has denied Uruguayan
newspaper reports claiming he will back
down over demands to leave the Reds
    (Kyodo). #Arsenal .

  194. ktr7 says:

    Suarez: “I didn’t say
that, maybe someone else did and the
main thing is that I am here now with the
    national team.”

  195. jack says:

I agree with the article and lets be clear , We have seen Arsene at his brutal best this summer, always linked with players he ‘can improve’ Sanogo , always linked with bargains Seb Perez. But when it comes to the players that have value..Suarez, Higuain,. Jovetic,
he comes up short, even tho the board tells the long suffering fans the exact opposite. If he doesnt complete deals for top targets and there are not many left….I personally would like to see him step aside on Sept 2nd

    We have had enough

  196. ktr7 says:

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has denied
Uruguayan newspaper reports claiming he will
back down over demands to leave the Reds and
pledge his future to the club.
The 26-year-old reportedly told Uruguayan media
that he would be staying with Liverpool and that
“the support of the fans in the last few weeks had
    influenced his decision.”
But speaking exclusively to Kyodo News after a
superb display in Uruguay’s 4-2 win over Japan
in a warm-up for their upcoming World Cup
qualifiers, Suarez said, “I didn’t say that, maybe
someone else did and the main thing is that I am
here now with the national team.”
Suarez looked razor sharp against the Japanese.
He set up Diego Forlan for the first goal and
rammed in the third after Forlan had completed
his brace with a sweetly struck free kick.
Suarez admitted that victory had given the South
Americans a lift ahead of crucial World Cup
qualifiers in September against Peru and
Colombia. Uruguay are currently fifth in the South
    American standings.

  197. tsgh says:

Nina Bracewell Smith left, why? because of our board.
David Dein left why ? because of the board.

But people still say AW is the Colonel Muammar Al-Gaddafi of Arsenal!

Anyway Uchida is a solid player but goal.com have been of the mark the whole summer.

  198. devilgunner says:

There are so many players mentioned that I am not giving a feking shit anymore. Infact not only is it getting boring its getting irritating now. I wish that they stop mentioning any players. No news will seem good news after all.

Now its Uchida. Good solid player. But are there any legs? Any sources?

Or is it just plain journo talk?

    Basically I am fed up.

If Jenks go to Sunderland……..I hope he gets above 75% playing time.

  199. tsgh says:

Hi Dev, it is depressing but life goes on buddy…

I believe we will get who we will get. We were never going to get Cavani nor Falcao or Marquinhos or Fernandinho. Schurle deal was all but agreed last summer.

Jovetic is a sinjury prone as Gourchuff and less experienced…

There are still options we just have to make a move!

  200. rico says:

Kt, Suarez said he wouldn’t talk about his future whilst with Uruguay, can’t wait for him to return to England 😉

That’s bad news re Sakho Ts, hope my view on him turns out to be wrong and he’s rubbish.

  201. tsgh says:

chelsea defenders- Terry, Cahill, Ivanovic, Cole, Luiz, Bertrand, Cole, Ake

Our defenders- BFG, Kozzer, TV, Sagna, Gibbs, Monreal, CJ25

Shitty- Richards, Kompany, Zabaleta,Cliche, Lescott, Nastasic,Kolarov

Yanited- Rio, Smalling,Evra,Jones, Evans, Vidic, Butner,Rafael and his twin

we could do with another RB or CB but Bellerin and Nico can do the odd gig imho

  202. tsgh says:

Rico, re Sakho, in my opinion he is not better than TV in terms of current form. And is not as good going forward as Gibbs is…

What we have to bare in mind as fans is that most players like Hig moved for guaranteed first team place because of the world cup.

As a few on here like Dev,Emma,Kev and myself have said in the past only a very few players available will walk into our starting XI or XV imho… CF04 and Suarez would have but Gustavo is not better than Ramsey or Arteta imho…

  203. Breezy says:

Now now Rico, a lump of wood is still good for something unlike our not so Great Dane.

@ Tsgh, apart from injuries our squad is also unbalanced, for example while we have a plethora of midfielders, we don’t have a back up to Arteta which means we’re light in the DM role. Up front as well I don’t think many of us would be comfortable with Walcott or Podolski as out and out strikers so practically we really only have Giroud there and I suppose Sonago. For me that’s where the difference will be, the other squads have depth in all positions whereas we’re light in some areas and overcrowded in others.

  204. rico says:

You are entitled to your view Ts, but not all agree with it and that’s fine too….

But opinion isn’t fact, it never will be….

  205. stevepalmer1 says:

    Evening all. Nice one Rico,
I agree on your post about a realy bad time to have an International friendly. This is laughable if it wasn’t so stupid. Personally had i been Wenger i would have said that all players selected were injured but Wenger knows how much players want to play for their countries. Whoever is responsible for these fixtures should be sent to a head Quack. Hodgeson must have promised his life away to managers and 45 minutes should be all any player will have what that will tell him is absolutely nothing. Mind you i must admit i am a bit suprised at just how many Arsenal players that have been called up when we have such a shit team. Perhaps the one loss in 20 odd games has something to do with it or perhaps he realises its just a training session.

  206. tsgh says:

    Comparing top 4 team goalies:-

    Yanited: De Gea, Linegaard, Amos
    Chavs: Cech, Scotts buddy,Hillario
Shitty:- Hart, Pantilimon and Wright lol
    Us:- Flappy, Scez, Martinez

The worst part of our squad is in the striker department but we still scored the 2nd highest no of goals in the league even with our Prince Poldi and slow coach OG12

  207. tsgh says:

I totally agree Breezy with your assessment. But we know AW is in for a DM and a striker…. Bender/Gustavo/Joshua G.

I would have liked Medel but Camacho of Malaga is still available; If Diaby or Frimpong can play 10 games each we will be ok if we do not get what we want but I think AW will get someone in…

My worry is that no team will allow a striker to leave now but I believe Akpom will score goals at every level.

Sanogo may not score double figures but if he starts his power will allow the likes of TW14 or Poldi to flourish…

  208. rico says:

Ts – I have an idea.

Instead of comparing the squads now, how about you write your view on how we equal Manure, City and Chelsea in a post and then we can all discuss it tomorrow?

Could be another really good debate set…

  209. rico says:

I’m not trying to honest, it’s just a post like that will attract a broader opinion, rather than just a few here in the evening…

I’ll give it a tasty headline and then we’ll see what many fans views are…

  210. tsgh says:

There is a caveat if I write the post… can I post my Gervinho stats daily proving how awesome he is…

    Deal! 😀 😀

  211. tsgh says:

Cooking dinner and then Rico’s post… laters

you are all witnesses… I have a free pass to post irrelevant posts..

  212. rico says:

I look forward to seeing how you can convince fans that our squad is equal to the likes of Man Utd, Man City and Chelsea…

Make sure you wear a hard hat Ts….

  213. Micko says:

Gervinho an elephant, I like it rico.

Emma 12.36, we have a core of players who can take on anyone, I like that even more, keep em coming.

  214. frednerk says:

    Evening Rico & All,
Lets say wenger has nothing to do with transfers,
as some on here seem to think.
Do we blame the board then?
or the two clowns flying here there and everywhere.
    I don’t watch soap operas,
but this aun’t we ain’t we,did he or did’nt he,
    is now becomeing a joke.

  215. frednerk says:

    Regarding the game tonight,
the jocks will try to make it phsyical,
woy has said…he will try and protect our players.
Lets hope no injuries for our boys,
    this squad will not cope.

  216. stevepalmer1 says:

2 young PSG players are supposed to be on Wengers must have list, got Wenger all over it. (arsenal news) never heard of them and cannot pronounce their names but one of thems a winger and has a great goal to games record, playing for his country tonight can’t remember what country think its Belgium

  217. potter says:

That’s the problem everyone seems to see the situation in black and white with no grey. It’s either or . No-one seems to want to countenance that it might be a bit of both. I would think that Wenger probably sets his targets and an approximate of worth and then others are meant to do the business. Somewhere in the middle it seems to break down. I would like to see a new broom looking at the system and bringing a fresh, more urgent attitude to our business in these windows.

  218. frednerk says:

On the suarez stuff,,is it on is it off
it still seems to have some legs(maybe one)
just can’t see the dippers turning down £40+ million.
The geezers nuts.(but a great player)

  219. Breezy says:

@ Ts agreed regarding teams not wanting to sell their top striker, ironically we may have to pay above the odds to get our man whoever that turns out to be.

Regarding DM I think that’s an area that’s got to be priority. Ideally what I’d like is a player who could be rotated with Arteta/ Ramsey thereby keeping each of the trio fresh without a compromise on quality. On that basis I’m not sure about Frimpong, his got plenty of heart but I’m not convinced about his all round quality yet, but the fact that he is still around means that AW obviously thinks he still has a future at the club. I think his role for the season would be the domestic cups and where one of Ramsey/Arteta/ New guy are injured. As for Diaby if we get any games out of him that would be a bonus!!

Akom looks quite good, but he’s a player that I think needs to go on loan. Perhaps somewhere like West Brom, Lukaku developed quite well under Steve Clarke and I’m not sure if they have bought anyone to replace him, Akpom could get some good game time to develop his game.

  220. rico says:

Kt, Gustavo was reported to have already agreed terms with Wolfsburg, it was just the signing fee that wasn’t matched..

    Another bites the dust ….

Can’t understand why players don’t want to join Arsenal these days…

  221. Micko says:

Another thing, why should any team wanna sell us one of their best players so late on in the window if they haven’t got time to get a replacement in themselves, chancing our arm should be our new club motto, it’s pish poor !

  222. Breezy says:

This is getting out of hand, its one thing to be beaten to player by Madrid or Barca, but now we can’t convince players to join us ahead of Napoli and Wolfsburg!!! ( obviously this assuming we are actually interested in Gustavo)

  223. rico says:

7.05 Potter – just why I really hope we see AU in and an entire new regime in place. One that want to see the club be a success…

  224. rico says:

In one Micko, of course they won’t. Not if they are quality players.

We’ll no doubt witness another last minute dash for squad players…

    It’s a joke.

Breezy, Gustavo may just have preferred to stay in Germany. Just like Rooney wants to stay in England.

You would think we could blow them out of the water with a wage offer but maybe some players put other things first…

  225. ktr7 says:

I still maintain we were never that intersted in Gustavo.I have seen him play and i said he is a specialist DM and Arsene doesn’t fancy those anymore.it seems i was right all along.

  226. stevepalmer1 says:

I think you have hit the nail on the head there Potter, But everything goes through Wenger and i don’t believe anything changes unless he’s the one changing things

  227. Breezy says:

@ Rico, I thought of that, but this was a player who apparently said yesterday that he wanted to play for us. Anyway who knows what his reasons are, so who’s next on the DM hit list …. Scott Parker

  228. rico says:

That ‘apparently’ seems pretty false right now Breezy, but then this Wolfsburg thing could be the same 😉

    Hi Scott…

  229. emma says:

So back to square 1 as wolfsburg denies agreeement has being struck to sign Gustavo

Joe hart is just getting worse. One of his almuniaski moment

  230. devilgunner says:

He was crap even against us. Hart is a good keeper, but not the world class level that he is held to be.

He is way behind Buffon, CAsillas and Cech.

  231. Scott from Oz says:

    Hi guys.
I am at work so not watching.
I am glad people question Hart……i have said all along he makes just as many clangers, from long especially, as any of our guys.
He is a great keeper, those bloody balls float through the air i tell ya 🙂

  232. Breezy says:

And looks like Suarez is back on as well, so I guess we are exactly where we’re yesterday, ahhh there’s nothing like the transfer window.

  233. devilgunner says:

Messiless Argies are leading Italy 1-0.

    The scorer?????

    Higuain.

  234. tsgh says:

Emma- re JW he does not know where to stand in midfield.

Hummells as I say is over rated. I am always surprised when people say he is better than the BFG…

Our players need to just believe in themselves as much as AW believes in them… they are better than they think..

  235. devilgunner says:

I am off now my friends.

    cu all tomorrow.

    have a GD NITE all.

Off to spank the spuddies in my dreams with Podolski scoring an amazing 5 goal haul in just 30 minutes.

  236. rico says:

emma – been saying that about Merts for a while, but for some reason, people think I’m mad…

Watch his lack of pace let us down this season..

If it doesn’t, then I’ll put my hands up….

    Gone now….

  237. ktr7 says:

I don’t really rate Hummels to be honest.he is loved because of his technical ability and he looks like a very intelligent guy.as a defender he is quite average.

  238. emma says:

Hummel is good but think the issue is with Mert. He has gone from slow to slower in my opinion.
Ditto ts Bac/Kos is currently the best CB pairing.
rico – You are right. I think it’s going to be hellish against villa young lads this weekend

  239. ktr7 says:

BFG’s lack of pace concerns me too.however i think sagna/kos are too similar to play together imho.thats why i would’ve loved papadoupolos from Schalke but we have other issues that need sorting out 1st.

  240. tsgh says:

2-2… Multi millionaires considered world class against league 1 and SPL outfits… England are lost.

I am beginning to think Rio may have a point with us failing to qualifier being a good thing…

  241. ktr7 says:

I would like him ts but i doubt AW is looking at a CB.it seems he views sagna as a CB and we are looking for a RB.

  242. tsgh says:

Lars Bender just equalised for the Germans.

Poldi looks a completely different player for his national team..

  243. ktr7 says:

ts everytime i see Ox play i can’t help but feel he is going to explode one day.i think he is going to transform one day like bale did.i hope he does it soon because he can be the complete attacking package.

  244. emma says:

    ts – Probably re subotic
Glad for ricky lambert. I have always thought he’s England’s best striker

  245. Gtid says:

Lmao… Fans started slating Wenger when they read the stories about Suarez and Gustavo
now that it’s been confirmed that both are not true, i can’t imagine their reactions now… I never believed those stories btw

  246. emma says:

Ox is an intelligent player. I love the way he keeps it simple. One-two move, runs into space, create space for himself

  247. ktr7 says:

emma i think the same thing re:zaha.he needs to cut it out or else he’ll have his ankle snapped one day.Ronaldo used to be similar but nowadays he rarely does aimless tricks all the time and he has become more effecient as a result.he may not be as exciting to watch but he is a mean machine.

  248. ktr7 says:

Ox has without a doubt to be that beast of an attacker.he can do almost everything attacking-wise.what he needs to work on is how to effeciently tap that explosiveness he has and he’ll be a nightmare to face.we saw flashes of it when he 1st came when he absolutely destroyed Zabaleta.when he clicks he’ll be devastating.

  249. Scott from Oz says:

Agreed KT…Ox could well be the striker we have been missing.
    Even a number 10.
He has the skill and vision, but also the shot and dribbling to tear any defence apart.

  250. ktr7 says:

Scott i honestly think will end up playing as a no.10 or a free role attacker like Ronaldo/bale.he is too explosive and talented to not make it at the highest level.

  251. NashuaGunners says:

Well done Scott. You really stand up for what you believe in. You took all the punches thrown at you like a man. Kudos.

T’s that was suppose to help you disappeared when the kitchen was hot. Shame on you tsgh for letting Scott hanging with all the Q’s & A’s directed at him. -:)

    I really enjoyed the debate…

@Rico. You begin to see my earlier frustration with the TW.

  252. Bradster says:

    Morning all,

Walcott seems fine but after yesterday’s game Sagna’s in doubt after hurting his ankle.
