Morning all.
I’ve just read Arsene Wenger’s press conference bits and bobs and little of it made much sense to me. A player ‘half in, half out?’ What on earth is he on about… Not really sure why I bothered as little he says is much different to what we’ve heard before. Mind you, yesterday he did have a pop at the ex players who recently have had a dig at him. He said he doesn’t know what makes a player a club legend, well thankfully we do. He suggested greats like Henry, Wrighty etc etc all had weaknesses which I thought was a bit of a cheap shot. Instead of trying to deflect what’s going on at Arsenal onto his critics, perhaps he’d be better off trying to rectify what’s going wrong rather than talk about the players he had who won trophies for him. Players who perhaps made his managerial skills look better than what they really were. I’m sure the latter will provoke much criticism, but let’s be honest, once the big players, including some of the legends he can’t identify with, he’s shown he can’t assemble a squad to win the league and not once since 2006 has he managed to get very far in the Champions League.
Wenger has suggested Alexis Oxlade-Chamberlain was ‘tapped up’ whilst away with England. Perhaps he was but I reckon he’d already made up his mind and long ago. The Ox comments about Jurgen Klopp pretty much confirmed that what he saw in the German was everything Arsene Wenger is not. Not anymore. When he first arrived he was quite different to how he is now but then he was younger, much younger. There were glimpses of a rejuvenated Arsene after he won his first FA Cup for a while but that was only after the game was won. Relief I suspect. How it was won though was something I know I should have taken more notice of. Perhaps I was caught up in the moment, the relief knowing the Press could no longer quote how many years it was since our club had won a trophy. Only then they simply moved the goalposts. Then it became how many years it’d been since we’d won the league. In case you’ve forgotten, it’s thirteen! The season after that, many of our best players started to depart. I think Henry was the final one. He went off to Barcelona to win many more medals and recently he told Sky Sports that he didn’t want to leave but he had to as Wenger and the clubs plans for future didn’t match his needs.
And here we are today with the same problem. Players want out of our club because of the direction in which it’s heading. We’re just three games into the season and already Wenger is on his hands and knees begging the fans, ex players etc etc to get behind the club instead of knocking it. That’s all well and good but when you’ve seen the same things take place time after time, there comes a point where no matter how hard you try to believe something might change, deep down, you just know it won’t. In Arsenal’s case it can’t either, not when the guy who continually makes the same mistakes is the one trying to make things right again.
Even if we manage to beat Bournemouth tomorrow, which I’m not convinced we will, just around the corner another bad performance looms large, especially with a trip to Stamford Bridge coming along next weekend.
Still, I guess it’s a win win situation really. We either start winning and climb up the table, or the troubles continue and Wenger’s exit gets closer….
“The fans can come to a quick conclusion or they can say let’s see what happens and stand behind the team.”
Wenger.
If you consider 13 years of failure in the PL as a quick conclusion….
Exactly. It’s not an overnight decision..
Good morning Rico
When other managers they live by results this old man since has nothing to worry about his job or results … i do not even bother to listen what he says or what he does.
Le prof killed the spirit of football in its entirety really.
Footy is about anger when you loose
Footy is about enjoying the moment when win
Footy is about passion.
Win, loose, draw is same for Le Prof .
No taste at all in what he says or do.
Even winning by serious margin against Bourne (big doubt like u)we are going to be embarassed anytime soon.
Very predictable hence lost taste.
Morning Alex. Hard to disagree there. Same old words just sometimes put differently.. Same old season, just with a different year…
Good post Rico
“We almost signed Mbabe, we were more close last season than this season”
Wenger’s at it again !
Thanks Kk, he can’t help himself can he…
Only the most die hard Wenger fan will eat in to this bullshit,he is sounding more and more like a broken record.
It’s beyond rediculous rico. ..
GG, no mate, no red, it’s not dangerous but there’s always the chance of bumping into a random nutter, of which West London has many, it is a shit hole despite the grand properties.
Save your passion for inside the ground and just be street wise if you’re sitting among those blue tossers.
I’ve been visiting the Bridge, if not recently, since 1972 and have always avoided problems.
You just have to have your head screwed on.
I actually prefer West Ham, Tottenham is a fcuking disgrace, their Police are a waste of space, it’s scandalous outside the Slum
Good post Rico, yeah Henry and Wrighty had weaknesses and so does he…
At least Thierry and Ian were decisive, they didn’t dither and change their minds when doing their jobs. Can Arsene really say the same?
Dg, can’t be many of them left surely..
Sure is Kk..
Hi Kev, thanks. Spot on, both along with others knew their job and got on with it…
Arsene coached the team, planned the ‘tactics’, picked the team, ‘prepared’ the team, sent them out on the Anfield pitch and they and the coaching staff totally failed to perform.
That is not the fault of the Press.
So to blame the Press for the reactions of the fans is, imo, delusional, but not surprising, from a man who rigorously denies that his actions and decisions are responsible for any of our calamities.
Afternoon Rico
Afternoon All
I actually think that we’ll beat Bournemouth, I think that Lacazette will prove the difference.
What that will mean for the rest of the season God only knows…
But I’m looking forward to Thursday, I’ll be with both my boys and will hopefully see our 2nd string put in a good performance. If they don’t then so be it, we can always blame the Press.
If Lacazette starts Kev. I’m looking forward to Thursday too although it’s the TV for me.. 😉
Afternoon Rico and All
Ox was lined up for the chavs to
replace moses.
Klopp has somehow changed his mind?
or was it gerrard?
Arsene should be taken to task,
he reminds of the little snitch who
fuxks everything up then blames all
and sundrie..
Every firms got one.
You people are soooo stupid… Its the press who buys the players decides the tactics picks the team and manage them. It was the press who kept the left back on the bench played the right at at left back and an old left back at centre back and a player who didn’t want to play for the club anymore at right wing back. We played a great game against Liverpool at Anfield. And we actually won the match then the press showed up and incited the fans telling them we played terribly lost the game and were used and discarded like an old whore by Liverpool.
Afternoon Fred. Funny how he chose the Dippers over the league champions. Perhaps he thinks he might more of a chance of a midfield spot at Liverpool
Football reasons not money
very unusual.Rico
@Akan
Proper untold…lol
Considering he turned down £180 from us Fred, yep..
Akan, my guess is you’re being ironic…
Quite ironic that the injuries that the scouse have means he might be wing back
Isn’t it just.
Big Tone..Islington Gazzette..This weeks.
Adams has been alarmed at a lack of defensive discipline,
culminating in the 4-0 humiliation at Anfield,
and believes the long-serving Frenchman has failed to
address a malaise at the heart of the backline.
Attempting to explain Arsenal’s poor start to the season he said:
I love The Arsenal. I love the fans and that love was
returned by me as a player.
I spent a long time at the club and enjoyed every minute.
I wouldn’t change a thing about my time at Arsenal.
What is happening on the pitch at the moment is very sad.
I hope they can sort things out.
But it’s a very different club to the one I played for.
It’s really simple. I just think Arsene should have brought
someone in to concentrate on the team –
as financially they are doing well.
That’s all you needed. Someone to come in
and teach players how to defend
Hector Bellerin will be the same player in five years
as he is now because he’s not been brought on by Wenger.
You need someone to come in and teach
players like Rob Holding –
who can be a very good player – to defend.
And Per Mertesacker even and Laurent Koscielny
how to defend.
And in the past you needed someone to come in
and teach Kieran Gibbs how to defend.
These kind of guys. Phil Senderos.
To teach Gael Clichy how to defend.
You can keep going with the names of players.
Arsene buys them, puts them in –
but he doesn’t develop defenders.
It doesn’t matter if they’re British or not.
It’s working with players to develop them.
It’s about working with players to develop them.
Baring in mind Boudly is a coach as well
tells us he is not used.
Big Tony is spot on.
Hiya rico, can’t disagree with anything in your opener. Very apt comments.
I don’t want to moan too much, but I’m a bit like a reformed smoker. Someone who used to smoke, and since giving up are really anti-smoking, LOL. That’s how I feel atm re Wenger, really anti. However, it is no good just moaning, so I’m trying to find positives, and I have. He is positively barking, deluded, and out of touch!
The only thing I will add, is that Napoleon got shot of Lukaku from Chelsea because he didn’t meet his standards, but why couldn’t he coach him into being the player he became at Everton? Then he wanted him again, when he’d been improved by decent coaching and managing. So these so called top managers are fake. Similar to Pep getting rid of Sanchez at Barca, but wanting him now at Citeh. Why couldn’t he have turned him into the player he is now with his magic touch? Perhaps they are all phoney baloney!
I will try to be supportive of the team, and just hope they gel together now.
Perhaps Ox knew he was going to L’Pool, and didn’t want to beat them at Anfield the other week, so didn’t try a leg against them. In fact he even passed the ball to Pool players a few times, much to Ramsey’s disgust. Thus he, and others, had a row with him during and after the game.
We WILL beat Bournemouth and begin a good run in the league, in spite of, not because of, Le Prof.
(Dreamer, nothing but a dreamer, tra la la la la).
Of course Ox was tapped up by L’Pool. Quelle surprise!! That is the norm in footie, and if Wenger doesn’t know that, then he IS totally out of touch. They all do it (don’t they?) I’d be more shocked now if they didn’t.
At the end of the day, it’s down to the player if he has his head turned when he is being wooed by another club. Well, him and his Agent of course.
I see Kloppy has left Coutinho out, even though he played in his Internationals last week. Good for Kloppy. That’s real man management.
Hi Meerkat. You’ve summed him up quite well… lol
Yes rico. Hell hath no fury like a meerkat scorned!;-))
Night guys, and Meerkat.. ?
Evening Rico and the House.
At the moment Our u23 team are playing the first of the 13 games our club will play before the end of Sept.
They are away to Man U and after 36 mins are winning 1-0
Now 2-0
Nelson and DaSilver with the Goals.
Both with brilliant freekicks.
That sounds promising Rick.
I hope that Nelson gets a start against Cologne next Thursday , maybe at right wing-back?
Is Debuchy fit?
Even if he is he will probably play him centre back or on the left.
Kev the game finished 2-0 and Nelsons goal was superb.
4 of tonights team played for England U19 v Germany on Tuesday night.
They were Mcguans Willick, Eddy and Nelson who scored the goal in a 3-1 defeat.
Nelson has scored 11goals in 16 games for England and this season he has scored 6 in 4 games for the U23’s.
He was voted the premier league 2 player of the month for August and as things stand he must be in with a chance for next Thurs.

What a free-kick?
Brudder…
Thanks LC. What a goal! When will the old git play him in the first team. I wonder? I reckon just before his contract is due for renewal, about 3 years time then! Or…………maybe sooner!
Morning all.
Arsene is a manager-he should JUST manage.
Whatever the reason, whoever the cause, he tries to be the Financials controller, contracts negotiator, coach as well as manager.
There’s not a man alive who can successfully wear all of these hats.
Ivan should be doing his job, or be allowed to.
Same with Bould and others.
Please dont give me the “control freak” rhetoric as we all know what he is-we just tend to disagree on how that situation has evolved-but it is the cause of many of the clubs problems, imo.
There is no easy solution, no matter what we like to believe.
Rick, if Nelson doesn’t start in the Cologne game then I’ll be amazed.
Then again, it is Wenger we’re talking about, so maybe rather than amazed I’ll be resigned.
Yep Potter, Debuchy at left midfield works in so many ways, but only if you’re an idiot.
Then again it is Wenger etc etc etc.
Adam, that certainly was one hell of a strike by the kid.
Regardless of his youth, he has bags of talent and a cool head on his shoulders.
Some players are just ready regardless of that youth.
I see that Dick Law is leaving at the end of the month.
Luis Suarez remains his finest hour…
I guess we’re going to have to put up with almost 5 months of the same old boring shit about Alexis joining Man City in January.
Man City will want to do the deal because when & if Alexis reaches the summer and becomes a free agent then other clubs won’t have to worry about a transfer fee and City won’t have a free run at getting him. By then Alexis might just fancy Paris or Munich or Milan, so no favours for Abu Dhabi inc.
Fcuk them…
Kev, Dick who 🙂 🙂
Dick Law :- I give you Joel Campbell or Carlos Vela , great signings but no work permits , what was the point ?
No point whatsoever and when they did get, the old boy hardly played them.
Morning all..
Morning Rico. A big day for Arsene I reckon.
Morning Adam. I can’t wait… 😉
New post up now.
Takumo Asano, another classic from the Dick Law stable of no marks…
